Casting my Bravern wish out into the universe:

Cygames uses their infinite Granblue Fantasy money to create a Bravern video game that also serves as a Director's Cut for the show, so there's more time to linger on all the characters they introduced but that we never got time to sit with.

As someone who is categorically not gay, I think it was very smart of Cygames to make Bravern as unambiguous as they could possibly get.

A lot of this ending, for example, can be laughed off as machismo- isn't it funny how they just disrobe and start singing while the camera pans over and across their rock hard pecs and abs (and it is, honestly)- but the mental gymnastics required to explain that intricate hand holding animation as anything other than gay would be Olympic-class.

There's also a lot of inherit comedy in the implied sexual aspect of a pilot being "inside of" a sentient giant robot, which the series plays up for well over the first half. It does continue to be funny, but it becomes more and more difficult to just write off as "haha he doesn't know what he's saying" when A.) you find out he absolutely does B.) both of them are saying it, and C.) while the camera holds on a shot like this with Bravern's DSL smack in the middle of the frame.

Cygames didn't had to go this hard but they did and now my heart is in shambles early in the morning 🥺
