The Ordinary Retinol Serum is a skincare product formulated to address various skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and texture. Retinol, a derivative of Vitamin A, is the key active ingredient in this serum. It works by promoting cell turnover, stimulating collagen production, and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Is Tinted Sunscreen Better Than Regular SPF?
Tumblr media
In the battle for skin protection, the question arises: is tinted sunscreen better than the regular SPF? Let's dive into the debate.
Tinted sunscreen, a hybrid of sun protection and light coverage, offers a convenient two-in-one solution. It not only shields your skin from harmful UV rays but also evens out your complexion, leaving you with a radiant glow. Plus, it's perfect for those makeup-free, on-the-go days. So. If you're someone who prefers a natural look, tinted sunscreen spf 50 might be a good option for you.
On the other hand, regular SPF is all about sun protection, pure and simple. It's versatile, suitable for all skin types, and can be seamlessly incorporated into your skincare routine.
The verdict? It depends on your needs.
Tinted sunscreen SPF 50 is fantastic for a quick, polished look, while regular SPF is the go-to for uncompromised sun defense. Ultimately, the best sunscreen is the one you'll consistently use. So, whether you opt for tinted or regular SPF, the key is to protect your skin from the sun's harmful effects.

5:30pm: eat dinner
5:45pm: unwind and relax! i do soothing & fun activities like watching a show, going on tumblr/ pinterest & listen to music, texting my friends, playing with my puppy, browsing online shops, and such.
7:00pm: read my book
8:00pm: brush my teeth, do my skincare routine (retinol every other night!!), put on my retainer, & apply eyelash serum
8:15pm: get into cute pj set, turn on my fairy lights & light a candle, & journal
8:45pm: put out all the lights, stretch, & meditate
9:00pm: go to sleep!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
addt'l info:
❥ i stick to a fairly strict daily routine and get all my studies/ schoolwork done by 5pm. this is my personal preference and it allows me to spend the evening completely unwinding!
❥ one of the main goals of my night routine is to avoid screens/ blue light for about an hour before bed. this and going to bed at 9pm are non-negotiable, but sometimes the other bits move around!
❥ i love going to sleep early, and it's what allows me to wake up early as well. 9pm is what works for me but regardless of your preferred bedtime, i recommend making time for 8-9 hours of sleep per night.

bought like actual skincare products for the first time in years and have some notes.
the whole anti-aging cosmetic industry is really hard to avoid. i was getting stuff at a marshall’s (discount store, carries a lot of overstock from brands) to save money and it took me almost an hour to find a handful of products that weren’t advertising “anti-aging” and “youthfulness” when i just wanted a cleanser, toner, and sunscreen to help with both peeling skin and greasiness
no seriously. i found ONE facial sunscreen that didn’t have retinol or hyaluronic acid or collagen or any of that stuff in it. it was tucked away in the men’s section with beard oil and cologne because apparently facial sunscreen with no added bullshit is only for men, and women (this is borderline a fast fashion store it’s highly gendered) can only protect themselves from skin cancer if it also makes sure they never develop a smile line
so many of those serums and creams and shit are bullshit anyway. hell a lot of people can just do a wash and sunscreen and be all set. at most a basic cleanser, basic moisturizer, and sunscreen are the absolute most you need. i threw in an exfoliating toner to help even out a couple gnarly acne scars and help with how flaky my skin gets sometimes. if your skin needs more than that, you really should probably just go to a dermatologist or look for actual dermatologist’s advice instead of dumping a bunch of random oils and serums and creams n shit you saw on tiktok or instagram on your skin and hoping the benefits listed on the box will be true for you
IN MOST CASES no amount of skincare products can make up for lifestyle change. i decided to put a little more work in because the lifestyle changes i need to make to help be less oily (i literally get so greasy it makes my eyes burn) and flaky aren’t currently feasible, so i’m trying to give my skin a bit of a boost, but literally the best my skin has ever felt was when i was just drinking a shit ton of water and eating super well
other people’s skincare will rarely work the same on anyone else. everyone’s skin needs are different. when i was in high school i had a gnarly abrasion/chemical burn under my eye because i had tried a routine i saw online that was way too rough and overbearing for me. again, you 100% don’t need a 30 step routine
that being said, i used a $4 korean cleanser, a $6 glycolic acid toner (exfoliant), 100% pure african shea butter, and some sunscreen formulated for use on the face. my skin feels great. my acne doesn’t itch as much. the toner was the most expensive part. the beauty industry is a scam

hey, i'm so sorry to ask this again bc i know you've gotten a bajillion versions of this ask, but could you drop your preferred skincare products again? I tried looking for the post in your archive but can't seem to find it, I'd also happily be directed to an older post if you can dig one up
Morning routine, in order:
[I don't wash my face with anything in the morning for oil production reasons. But I do sometimes splash my face with cold water/pat dry] Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum (applied with a refrigerated jade roller which makes a huge difference re my morning face puffiness and also wakes me up nicely)
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizer
Paula's Choice sunscreen
Evening routine in order:
Versed Day Dissolve Balm
Versed Keep the Peace Cleanser
Paula's Choice BHA chemical exfoliant Solid 10 min break here, sometimes I do a first round of moisturizer if it's cold/dry Versed Eye Balm
Paula's Choice Retinol
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizer
Once or twice a week: Versed Dr's Visit Resurfacing Mask And some sort of rice paper moisturizing mask afterward (I get these in bulk from the Korean grocery store or online if there's a sale). And if I DO get a breakout I love these Spot Dots. And that's my routine at the moment!

Hii^^ I have dry sensitive skin and I’ve been thinking on trying out retinol but i’m also using salicylic acid ( serum 4 times a week nightly) and vitamin C (serum in the morning)
i use spf consistently but i’m not sure on how to incorporate it into my routine?
Do I switch between it and Bha (Pm) and keep using Vit C daily or what do you think i should do?
i still want to incorporate all 3 of them into my routine
Hi flower,
I'm not an expert or licensed specialist, I'm just going to share how I incorporate it into my routine from the research I've done online.
Example routine, in order:
Monday AM: Vitamin C > sunscreen
Monday PM: SA cleanser > moisturizer
Tuesday AM: Vitamin C > sunscreen
Tuesday PM: moisturizer > Retinol (depends if you prefer to apply moisturizer and then retinol, or combine the two, whatever works for you)
Wednesday AM: Vit C > sunscreen
Wednesday PM: BHA > moisturizer
Rinse repeat.
Explanation:
In the morning SPF is essential of course. And Vit C is best used in the morning, as it has antioxidant properties and protects your skin better from the Sun, moreso if combined with sunscreen. But if you combine Vit C with Retinol or other harsh products, it can cause skin irritation or sensitivity (source).
Meanwhile Retinol should only be used in the evenings (if you use in the morning, even with sunscreen it still exposes your sensitized & freshly regenerating skin to the sunlight which can cause issues). And same with any chemical exfoliants like SA (salicylic acid) or BHA (beta hydroxy acids) - only use them in the evening to let the skin regenerate and heal before exposing to sunlight again.
And lastly, it's not recommended to use chemical exfoliants and apply retinol right after - it's too much for the skin, so it's best to do only one per day. Retinol one evening, exfoliating next evening, etc, as per the routine above.
Hope this helps! 🎀

lil sis, are you obsessed with anything lately? for me it's this korean skincare brand called "cosrx" ><" my fav youtuber has been talking about vitamin c, retinol, bha, eye cream etc for the longest time and i never really knew where to get them, only until recently i discovered cosrx's official store on our go-to online shopping platform - ive only used one of their products (snail mucin cream) so far, and only for 2 days i already see significant improvement on my skin 😭😭😭❤️ (maybe partly bc my skin has been in such a bad condition for many years already and when i foud a product thats super effective it really works wonders on my face!), now i can't stop browsing their store 😭😭😭 they have so many products i wanna try them all 😭😭😭😭
big sis!! it's so cute to see someone actually working on their skincare and then in turn it works out so well for them! congratulations!! ❤️
i am so lazy at skincare sometimes when i get ready at ungodly hours i put hair serum on my face instead of toner cos my eyes are heavy with sleep lololol (this is why one should listen to music in the morning at all times lololololol)

I blame the culture of “anti-cringe” and the death of the awkward tween phase for the slow fading of fandom culture. Everyone now wants to be cool and TikTok presentable. Curated. The media you consume is a reflection of your character now. Lame. If you like something too much you’re “hyper fixating”. God forbid they are caught liking something. Gone are the days where gif sets of Billie Joe Armstrong tweaking on methamphetamines would gather 10k notes… :(
this is very true. the pressure to be cool, presentable, affirmed and always opposite of whatever is currently deemed problematic means young people just do not act natural nowadays. it's very hard to have an online life that isn't this way when there's a legitimate and understandable fear of repercussions that can follow you. the current discourse about sephora kids/teens is a good example of the loss of innocence; we had to cut our teeth on all the way wrong shades of dream matte mousse foundation and lip smackers. that shit doesn't cut it nowadays lmfao the girls want retinol and hyaluronic acid serum for their 12-step anti-aging skincare routine at age 11. charlotte tilbury and fenty beauty. i know those of us who came of age during the time period all have a bit of trauma about the heroine chic beauty standards of the early 2000s, but i really don't know how i would cope psychologically if i was growing up in the age of social media as it is right now. we've somehow managed the illusion of being more accepting, more body positive, more open-minded.. while i simultaneously cannot imagine a worse time to be a young girl as it pertains to self-esteem and self-image. we rallied against magazines photoshopping celebrities on their covers because it set an unrealistic standard for us normal women, but now literally any average person AND celebrity/influencer can do the same thing before they post a photo of themselves on social media for all to see. even i have to remind myself none of it is real and what actual human skin looks like from time to time.
sorry this was a rant lol

What an Ideal Night Skincare Routine Includes?
Tumblr media
A radiant complexion is just a night's sleep away with the perfect nighttime skincare routine. If you're wondering what should be included in your ideal routine, we've got you covered.
Here's a quick guide to help you achieve that coveted morning glow.
1. Gentle Cleansing: Start by removing makeup and impurities with a gentle cleanser. This prepares your skin for the products that follow.
2. Toning: Apply a hydrating and pH-balancing toner to prep your skin for the next steps.
3. Serums: Serums containing potent ingredients like hyaluronic acid or vitamin C can target specific skin concerns. These supercharged products penetrate deeply for maximum effect.
4. Moisturize: Lock in hydration with a nourishing skin moisturizer. This step is essential for all skin types, even if you have oily skin.
5. Sleep Glow Mask: For an extra boost of hydration and radiance, incorporate a hydrating sleep glow mask into your routine a couple of times a week. This mask works its magic while you rest, leaving your skin refreshed and rejuvenated come morning.
6. Eye Cream: Don't forget the delicate skin around your eyes. An eye cream can reduce puffiness and dark circles.
Remember, consistency is key. Stick to your night skincare routine, and you'll be waking up with that natural, healthy glow in no time. Sweet dreams!
