Is it a catholic thing to be baptised later in life? Like middle childhood or later?
I've always been kinda curious and I just saw people talking about being baptised around 8 or 9, but I think most people where I live get baptised when they're a baby

I know some dickheads have now decided that Judaism is the "bad, violent, terrorist religion" and Islam is the "good, peaceful" one, which is only to be expected of white people, but how much of an issue is it currently? Like I've seen some USAmericans sharing how the Islamic faith shapes Gazans values and perseverance (good) except with that distinct white hippie "I'm about to imprint on this like the world's most racist duck" vibe (bad), but I didn't think they're already turning on Judaism in numbers.
Do they realize that Christianity is also the same kind of comfort to Christian minorities in Asia and Africa? That it was Buddhists that genocided the Rohingyas in Myanmar and Tamils in Sri Lanka? That Hindu fundamentalists are even now trying to ethnically cleanse Muslims in India? How Hindus and Christians are terrorized and persecuted in Pakistan? That Muslims have a history of persecuting and ethnically cleansing Jews too?
Really tired of asking y'all to be normal about people's religions man. There's no religion that's inherently violent or exceptionally peaceful. It's just like any other ideology that becomes a weapon in the hands of ethnic power. Interrogate power, not religion, and respect people's belief systems insofar as they aren't in your business.
Edit: I've amended the "long history" of Muslim persecution of Jews because it might be misleading in the current political climate. Zionism and antisemitic Arab nationalism are twin births resulting directly from Christian colonization, and Islamic empires tended to actually be more tolerant of other religions compared to Christianity, especially Judaism, which was considered a sibling religion. Antisemitism wasn't ideologically entrenched in Islamic tradition. It's simply that ethno-religious power will lead to ethno religious domination and intermittent cleansing of minorities, and Islam is no exception. Humans be humaning always.

Judaism is a religion, but it's much older than most people's understanding of the term.
Judaism is an ethnoreligion, the religion of the Jewish people.
We're not Jews because we practice Judaism. We practice Judaism because we're Jews.

Clear Sky threw his son in front of a fox?!
YES!! He SHOVED him in front of a fox! It's in fury from the fact Thunder refused to kill Frost. This entire section is VERY poorly paced and glances over it in two paragraphs, so most people don't fully register it.
Tumblr media
Clear Sky dragged Thunder down off the stump and shoves him at it, blaming him for bringing the fox to camp with his loud disobedience.
He then leaves Thunder to fight this fox on his own. Leaf and Falling Feather jump in to help him of their own accord. Clear Sky then tries to praise him for being strong and Thunder tells him to shove off for the first and last time.
It's not the last baby of his he knowingly and consciously endangers to prove a point. In Moth Flight's Vision, he refuses to allow Acorn Fur to get medical help for Tiny Branch's fox-inflicted injuries until his condition worsened, bellowing, "SkyClan does NOT ask for help unless there's no choice." AND didn't allow her to complete her training after he caused Micah's death.
Clear Sky is a serial child abuser. He is willfully neglectful, emotionally abusive, and physically violent.

Oh man, I live in a secular country, and though I have catholic and protestant members of my family, it never really caught on with me so there are so many things that I don't know
This whole "Jesus was a waterballoon" is news to me
But there was a really weird moment in my childhood. The secularity runs through the country in the schooling system, and has done for a long time, so imagine mine and my classmates bafflement when getting a mock test for English class.
The test was the read-a-thing-then-talk-about-the-themes style thing, and the piece described a bunch of people apparently having a meeting. The specifics elude me because this was 15+ years ago now.
What struck me, and the whole class, as frustrating was that when the teacher pulled out the marking rubric none of us got above the bare minimum pass mark, because not one of us had been able to identify that these specific individuals, eating something or having something on their heads, were indulging in "shrove tuesday" or "ash wednesday" (they're linked? maybe?) which was required for a higher mark
None of us had ever heard of these, and were like "this is a religious thing, we're not studying religion, what the heck?"
Such examples were NOT used in the actual tests, so maybe someone realised.
Being raised by areligious jews with 0 exposure to christianity outside pop culture is so fun. One time I asked my ex-catholic friend why a picture of jesus had a bristle crown and she looked at me like I was insane. One time I heard someone mention the "lance of longinus" and responded, word for word, "Like from Evangelion?" One time during a history lesson my professor described an important monk and scholar as "Dominican" and I spent the rest of class super confused and hung up on it because I was very sure that the Dominican Republic didn't meaningfully exist as an entity back then, maybe she meant he was a native Taino or something but that's a weird way to say that and I'm pretty sure this was pre- European contact? Really fucks people up when they realize I genuinely have no idea.

merlin slipping up early on around arthur and trying to assuage his fears by assuring that the gods would look out for them and arthur pauses before asking “the gods?” and they have a awkward lil conversation where merlin is like “yeah i worship the gods of the old religion” and arthurs like “why?” and merlin goes “well why do you worship the god of the new religion? we just believe in them” and arthur takes in this new information and is eventually like “yeah. sure. i guess its not illegal in essetir is it?” anyways thats it. it doesnt get brought up again until later on
when arthur + the knights and merlin and in that shrine and the knights aren’t taking it seriously and merlin goes “in the time of the old religion, they built shrines like this to appease restless spirits. we shouldn’t be here” and the knights brush it off but arthur knows merlin truly believes in it all so he redirects the knights away and later on its him and merlin at the well and arthur is there to calm merlin after he sees the visions from the raid. merlin’s crying and pleading with arthur to leave, that they shouldn’t be here. arthur agrees and goes to leave when merlin calls out to him. arthur stops but doesn’t turn. merlin wraps his arms around his middle.
“you were here”
arthur doesn’t say anything more and walks away

Co-worker who knows that I’m a nerd, “What are your plans for the 4th?”
Me, trying my best to figure out how to explain that the Thunder Saga is dropping for Epic, “Uh, well, YouTube is going to have a premiere for something I’m excited about.”
“Oh? What’s premiering?”
Me, literally stumbling over my words, trying to figure out how to explain Epic.
Him, “It’s something nerdy isn’t it?”
Me, “Yeah, so some guy seemingly got a hyper fixation on the Odyssey during Covid and decided to make a musical about it in parts, and the part with one of my favorite Greek monsters is this one.”
Him, confused cause he 100% was not expecting that type of answer, “Well, I hope it’s good.”

When I was in high school a person at a local youth group encouraged kids to get rid of their alarm clock and trust Jesus to wake them up on time. It was wild watching a whole bunch of youth group kids be late to class for a week

If it's the god of Abraham, it's a real toss-up but I'm leaning towards cut.
That was one of the main bones of contention at the first Christianity meetings: do we require circumcision of converts?
One guy was absolutely on board with the snip: it was the covenant between the chosen and God, it was a promise that if you were sure enough in your faith in God, he'd return the favor and take care of the devout.
Everyone else was like: Um... That's not a good selling point. We need numbers; let's lower the bar for admission.
Okay, I'll take the bait. Is freddkong cut or uncut?
Hes an angel and a child of God you heathen

my body is a temple but it's from one of those ancient sects of Christianity that evangelicals have never heard of and the walls are crusted with icons and relics and artwork you can't interpret and there's moss growing everywhere and it's been witnessing miracles for thousands of years and it would horrify most mainstream American Christians
