It has been only a day since I have arrived on this vessel to begin conducting my research into the relationships of the Affini conquerors their "pets" and I am already at a loss for words. After boarding the ship and explaining my goals to the welcoming party of Affini, they appeared interested in assisting me to ease my research and development in knowledge that is nothing more than rumors on terran colonies. Though I do not trust these creatures very much at all, my only hope of collect sufficient data will be to go along with their whims for the time being. As I was welcomed and shown to the amenities I would have available to me, I saw many Affini with their "pets" seemingly joyous. Though I could see through the facade, as the eyes of these poor creatures were all glazed over as though their minds were not their own. I have been given a habitation unit with an Affini and their "floret" (as they are called) to work as a room to sleep and as a research station and way to observe the daily relationship of these two for my work. I will also have to visit and meet other "florets" and their "owners" in order to ensure the evidence I provide is not anecdotal. I am left with a sense of unease. The room I am in is far too big, as is everything else. I cannot remember the last time I had felt so small in the universe. May the stars bless and protect me.

Addendum: I had forgotten to introduce my new research targets properly. If I remember correctly, the Affini's name is "Verdianthos Arum, Fourth Bloom" while the terran's name is "Marianna Arum, First Floret" I am unaware as to what these titles mean as of yet, as I am too tired from the day of travel and mild exploration to ask. I am also left with unease of the "floret" having such a similar name to mine.

"When you think about Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, prevalent stereotypes might come to mind: trouble sitting still at school, issues with focusing on work, and impulsivity. While these are traits many people with ADHD possess (me included), ADHDers know that it can impact pretty much every part of your life — including sex⁠. Since ADHD presents differently for different people, its effect on sexuality also differs from person to person. However, recent studies show that, when it comes to sex, there are many overlapping issues that ADHDers share... When I read through this research, I freaked. It explained so much about my own relationship patterns. My first thoughts were cynical: Does this mean I’m broken? Can nothing be done? Reading this [new research], you might feel the same way. It can be scary to see challenges ADHD can present without knowing where to turn or seeing any positives. Before I knew how ADHD could affect relationships (or knew that I had ADHD to begin with), I felt like a freak. I felt awful for feeling bored in the bedroom, even with people that I genuinely loved and generally enjoyed having sex with. Even though I was diagnosed back in 2021, I am constantly discovering new things about ADHD, reshaping and readjusting whenever new information comes along... It’s not all doom and gloom to have ADHD and a sexual life. For example, sexual curiosity and being more adventurous in the bedroom isn’t a recipe for a breakup. Many people actively seek out⁠ partners who are down to experiment, and being open to new and different things when it comes to sex is something we know tends to enhance people’s sexual lives and connections, not hurt them. If you tend to get distracted or bored with sex, guess what? That’s fine too. No one else has to, and few people do, want sex all the time, anyway. Sex also isn’t the only way to connect with each other or explore intimacy."

Well, I just wish to tell you how wonderful it has been to have you here in my lovely home. You've been so very kind to my dear Marianna, and you have truly brought a wonderful joy to us both.

"Th-thanks I guess. I will admit, it has not been unpleasant to be here, as I know you have done your best to both provide information for my research and allow me comforts while I have been here. However, I hope you do understand why I must take my leave."

I'm afraid I still don't quite understand. I truly do feel that I could make you feel wonderful and comfortable here.

"W-well, you did a decent job. But I cannot ignore the fact that you hid information from me regarding biorhythms. Important information."

Would it really have changed so much if I had told you?

"Of course it would! I wouldn't have stayed so long if I knew the risks I know now. It's dangerous for my research."

But wouldn't that mean you would have learned so much less? If I had told you on the first day of your arrival about the biorhythms, you probably would have left immediately and not learned anything significant about the Affini.

But you would not know nearly as much.

I got into a fight in the comments section on Pinterest where people are still saying that Cooper is married. This is what I’m talking about when I say media literacy is a lost art. Like unless something is spelled out for people by the character it concerns, it doesn’t exist… even though side characters were discussing Cooper Howard’s alimony as the reason for him ‘wasting time performing at kids parties’. No. Unless Cooper himself says “hello I’m a divorced dad” it’s not real.

Similarly, whenever I’m given grief about how toxic Cooper and Lucy’s relationship is—literally no one is denying the way they met each other is messed up—they often forgo the fact that by the end of season 1 they are begrudging allies. That Lucy understands what he did to her wasn’t personal and decides to go with him mostly because she would die otherwise, but also because Cooper is her key to figuring things out. Ship wars aside, they’re on track to be at least friendly.

And those who think the possibility of Maximus not being with Lucy is the end of his character are missing the point of both his and Lucy’s character arcs. Maximus has some shit to figure out. Mainly, which side is he on. He’s disillusioned with the Brotherhood by the end, but deserting would mean his death. At the same time, he’s also got the opportunity using his knighthood to “hurt the people who hurt [him]”.

“People” being Hank MacLean, Vault-Tec, and possibly others.

As for Lucy, it’s clear that by the end of the series Vault-Tec is in conflict with her closely held beliefs. And when she inevitably discovers what Cooper knows in season 2, it’s debatable whether or not she’ll ever want to live in the vault again. But when her and Maximus run in again, it won’t be so they can escape. Both of them will have their reasons for hating Vault-Tec by then and both of them will deal with it differently. Let’s remember how they handle morality. Both he and Lucy in season 1 saw things as black and white, often to their own detriments. Lucy learned when and how to break free from that (ethics teacher) but Max, by the end of the series, is veering towards violence as the answer and he’s seeing too many problems. The bear scene and the moment with the chicken fucker come to mind when I think about his future. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have lingered on those scenes.

Anyway.

No one comes out of this unscathed.

Scp 096 (established relationship) where the scp researchers found that if someone sees his photo and comes running at them, if they put a photo of reader (another researcher) in front of their face, 096 gets confused and doesn’t kill them, and so reader can come in and take 096 back to his room?

It was sabotage, no- attempted murder.

The researchers had no clue it was your face in the file, these precious little interns didn’t even look over the contents before slapping them into a D-class’ arms and sending them into a testing chamber.

It was supposed to be the second unknowing D-class, on the other side of the testing room in a 2x2, 14” thick, lead box.

A simple study of how fast 096 could rip it into shreds, allowing more intel for breach shelter doors if it ever escapes again.

(That was a mess, and ironically how you two met, being the only one who knew how to handle him properly.)

The pressure sensors on the floor never moved, only shifted awkwardly. No crying. No screaming.

And somehow the silence was more terrifying than the outburst he should be having.

One of the head researchers called the D-Class back in, and the file is examined. Not too much later, you’re called into the observation room.

Much to your dismay, it seemed someone tried to killed you rather unceremoniously while also endangering the lives of so many others.

And being the lead researcher over 096, as well as his self-proclaimed “BFF”, you were able to waltz in and give him a gentle pat on the back, comforting his confused state.

You lovingly secured the bag over his head, the only thing that gives him the maximum comfort and relief, and stood him on the ‘X’ marked on the floor, all set and ready for the MTF to transport him back to containment.

Stop judging concepts based on the person who came up with them. Love languages? A helpful tool for communicating better in a relationship. I don't give a fuck if you don't like the conservative, misogynist, whatever guy that came up with them. It's a fucking tool. Use it if it's useful. The Nazis implemented modern maternity leave and a bunch of other useful fucking things that we all use frequently but that doesn't mean you agree with everything they ever did, just because you've driven a Volkswagen down the highway before. Nor is "Nazis did it first" a good reason to stop using the olympic torch relay.
