In the early days, somehow, I like to imagine the OG Justice League members did karaoke once a month

Every time Diana would choose a new song that she learnt that week. This could range from Barbie Girl (she didn't like the message of the song but the beat ate) to Unchained Melody (Bruce will never admit that he cried at this the first time she sang it) to Sweet Child O' Mine (he also cried to this one). Sometimes she sings the most batshit insane songs however, for example she sang Super Freak at the top of her lungs like it was nobody's business. None of them will ever be able to forget that, to the chagrin of everybody but Hal Jordan.

Clark would ALWAYS choose a duet. No matter what song it is, he refuses to do any songs alone, and it's usually J'onn or Hal that he drags into singing the entirety of the Grease soundtrack with. In fact, Hal is his go-to Sandy. He can't even count the amount of times the entire room has done Summer Nights with him and the Green Lantern center-stage

Speaking of Hal, he OF COURSE has a go-to karaoke song: Great Balls of Fire. He does the entire song and he drags in the others as his back-up singers. Just cos it's only the JLA doesn't mean he has to half-ass it. He puts on a whole performance with emotion, talent, wit, and goddamn crowd-work. He really gets into it. Once, Hal tried to serenade Bruce (on the rare occasion Bruce showed up) using Holding Out For a Hero and to this day he's still convinced it actually worked. Bruce will neither confirm nor deny.

Barry probably doesn't prepare a song beforehand and doesn't even end up choosing a song - if there's a random-mode he'll just do that, otherwise he tells Diana to choose. Always Diana. And every time, no matter what the song is, no matter if he had never even heard it before that night, he always sucks ass. But he has fun, and that's what matters.

Now Ollie, on the other hand, COMES PREPARED. He has a whole list of the songs he's gonna do, calling dibs and ripping into Hal whenever he chooses one on the list, which he always inevitably ends up doing. It doesn't help that the list is predictably just full of ABBA. Dinah tells him to shake it up a bit. She tried to get him to join him singing MCR once but he was so awkward it was genuinely painful. They all decided to just let him stick to his list in the future, to save all their eardrums.

Now J'onn?? He pulls up with the randomest songs ever. At one point he could be singing the Beatles and suddenly he's spouting Skepta like he wrote that shit. Nobody can convince me J'onn isn't a weirdly good rapper.

And finally. Bruce. He very rarely comes to these and, when he does he refuses to sing the entire night until the very last second, when Diana or Clark are able to convince him. They end the night with everybody sitting in the booths, nursing their final glasses of booze, and listening to Bruce sing the most gut-wrenching and soul-splitting melody to ever be sung. The next morning he'll vehemently deny singing it, or simply pretend he didn't show up at all unless he's intending to embarrass Ollie or Hal. But they all heard him flawlessly perform Make You Feel My Love the night before and he can't take that away from them

A shorter one where the Hummingbird carves/personalized their spear a bit, and one where they keep going back and forth between their home space and the feline’s home space and eventually just decides to share home space with them

More writing-based notes for scenes I want to put in Where the Wild Things Go when I get back to my computer:

- Go back and input a scene talking about why the Hummingbird wants to leave their parents permanently, preferably by showcasing the parent’s attitude towards Wild Things.

- Go back and show more of the Hummingbird adjusting to living in a forest and the culture that goes along with it, probably before the Hummingbird has their full transformation and they’re still living with the Spider alongside the other young Wild Things

- Show the Hummingbird learning to craft a spear that they can use in hunting and learning how to use said spear.p

- Show how the Wild Things typically survive in the wintertime, since large farmland is pretty much impossible given the circumstances. As a result, the Wild Things are more social with each other and hunt in groups to ensure that nobody dies of cold and that everyone gets to eat.

- The Hummingbird creating a place to live, possibly sharing a living space or living nearby the Cyclopean Feline, basically finding the materials to decorate it and make it livable.

- Show a different winter, and a much harsher one, where a group of Wild Things are nearly shot to death after chasing some sort of animal into the field near the Civilized Society. This leads to a Civilized Person leaving a couple bags of food near the edge of the forest, which leads to a debate about whether or not the food is safe to take or if it’s been poisoned/if they’ll be shot upon entering the field to grab the food. But desperation leads the Hummingbird to go out and grab the bags before quickly retreating to the forest.

- The Hummingbird, now a much better flier, doing air trickshots through the trees alongside other flying Wild Things.

- The Cyclopean Feline adopting a young Wild Thing (maybe 12-13?) and the Hummingbird agreeing to co-raise the kid with them. The kid is probably on-par with a griffon but has the front half of a tiger and the back half (including the wings) of a dragon. Basically show them raising and interacting with the kid.

- The Hummingbird unwisely getting near the Civilized Society and spotting a partially transformed kid inside the wall who is being chased. Hummingbird then dives down, grabs the kid, and flies away with them, which causes a ruckus within the wall and gets the Hummingbird in vague trouble when they get back.

- Another average day in the Hummingbird’s life now that they’re slightly older and a more functional adult, plus them checking in on the now fully-transformed Wild Thing they saved. They also fly around with the Tiger-Dragon.

- The Civilized Society getting more and more aggressive towards the Wild Place, which eventually leads to a party of them going out to capture Wild Things. They nearly capture the Tiger-Dragon, who’s probably around 16-17 at this point, but the Hummingbird saves them and gets captured instead.

- The Hummingbird is caged inside the wall and meets an old classmate of theirs, who is their jailer. The classmate recognizes them and is horrified by their transformation, but the Hummingbird eventually convinced them to unlock the cell and let the Hummingbird fly away.

- Civilized Society continues to be aggressive, which causes more and more Wild Things to leave the forest in search of somewhere better. The Hummingbird, Cyclopean Feline, and Tiger-Dragon stay as long as they can, but eventually also choose to leave together in search of somewhere safer. The Spider, however, opts to stay so it can continue to care for young Wild Things. The family wishes it luck and then leaves.

- Show a couple different places that the family travel to and see if it’s a good fit for them, leaving for various reasons. They do, however, eventually find a place they like and decide to stay. They then have to learn to adjust to this new place and to having fewer Wild Things around.

- The three of them continue to live their lives and they all slowly get older. They also reminisce along the way about the Wild Place, and the many creatures who lived there alongside them.

- Eventually, the Hummingbird and Cyclopean Feline are quite old and struggle to do many tasks, but are still relatively happy and enjoy their life together, especially since the Tiger-Dragon is capable of caring for them. The Hummingbird does eventually die (although not of violent causes), and dies looking up at the sky and seeing the birds flying around.

Azula isn't...the nicest. She's kind in the way that she loves you, but also wouldn't hesitate to laugh at your mistakes.

Azula, to say the least, is a good lover. As long as you get over being a massive bitch sometimes. She'll laugh or snicker at some servant or pedestrian doing something stupid.

Dating Azula means being friends with Mai and Ty lee. You have no choice. Once the two girls learn about you, it's all over, this is your life now. You have no choice.

Dating Azula means you get recognized a lot, meaning people see and know who you are. Just one glance at you, and you're recognized by everyone around you.

Dating Azula means you get kisses at the randomest times of the day. You two could be walking around and she'll pin you to a wall and pull you into a deep kiss. She then prances off, acting like she didn't just kiss your lips off.

Azula is only affectionate in private or around people she trusts. She allows Mai and Ty lee to see her kissing, touching, loving you.

Azula doesn't share. By no means are you allowed near ANYONE she would consider competition. Mai and Ty lee are on that list too. She has no issues keeping you away from anyone she doesn't like.

Azula has a hard time expressing her love, with the life she has lived it's understanding. She more than likely buys you things, things she deemes worthy of your touch. So you see a dress or a peice of jewelry you like? Just ask.

Azula tries her hardest not to be a bitch when your feeling down. Dating her means you see the vulnerable side of her, she knows you'll show that side of yourself too. In her eyes seeing the real you, it's a pleasure and a bit overwhelming.

Azula gets her red lipstick all over your face when she kisses you. Make out sessions are very evident to those who pass by you. All they see are red smudges and an even redder face. Too bad she enjoys seeing you all quiet and flustered.

As your girlfriend, Azula takes care of many things for you. She knows that being in a relationship with her is hard, so she takes the workload off you. This is one of the many ways she says 'I love you' without actually saying it.

She doesn't care if her father approves of you. It doesn't matter, I mean at first it did. Now though, now she'll do anything you say. If you say it nice enough.

Azula will take you everywhere with her. She's paranoid that you might get hurt without her. So, the obvious option is to bring you with. She's so smart.

As your girlfriend, she doesn't get a little control happy. She decides who gets to give you attention, she decides what you eat, everything. Although that's just her paranoia and control complex. Dont worry, after about 5 to 6 months of dating, that's stops.

While she hates people wanting you, she loves to show you off. Oh? There's a big important banquet coming up? You're coming with.

If you two were to ever break up, it's more than likely because of her status or controlling nature. She feels the need to prove she loves you, even if it's a bit crazy sometimes.

She'd be mad about the breakup, she'd do anything to get you back. I mean anything, she'd give you the world. Azula is more than definitely scared of losing you, not like she'll admit it.

Azula will yell, scream, fight. She'll do anything except admit she's afraid of losing you.

If you two get back together, she's even worse. Not for long though, especially if you already had a very long term relationship. She'll feel weak for letting you almost leave. She's angry, but at the same time afraid. Azula takes measures to make sure you never leave her again.

She is loving person...just ask Ty lee and Mai.

Can you tell us about your other fics if you already have an established plot?

I'd love to! So there's quite a number of them I won't lie. I tend to get inspired by the randomest things. These are all in various stages of plotted out and written.

A/B/O fic (technically turning into 3 fics) that follows Bucky & Buck through the war, described below.

Courting Arc (top of my list to finish writing) - Bucky POV as he is anonymously courted during his time in the states just before he gets sent over to England (there's a post I'm basing my writing around I'll link it in a moment) <- published

England Arc- a quick look into their lives as they run missions with A/B/O elements (this will be pretty short I think) mostly snippets of scenes from the show just now with Omega Bucky and Alpha Buck <- published

Stalag Arc - Omega Bucky and his awful time in Germany. Here is where we see what being an Omega in war is really like in my omegaverse. Bucky is the highest ranked Omega in the camp meaning he's technically 'in charge' of keeping those Omegas in line. He's tested by his heats, keeping his pack together, and finally by a German order that could tear Buck and Bucky apart. This is a big fic for me to prepare for, and I'm building up to it by writing the Courting Arc first <- next on deck

Biker Gale AU (my beloved, genuinely obsessed with this AU) - this was inspired by one of hogans-heroes AUs. So, Gale leads an outlaw-esque biker club, and Bucky used to be his right hand (and lover) except one day out of the blue he just disappeared. Gale does everything he can to find Bucky, but there's no trail to follow, no clues to put together, nothing. Fast forward about two years, Bucky arrives on Curt's doorstep holding a small baby with the brightest blue eyes and prettiest blonde curls and begs Curt to watch his baby for 5 days. 5 days later Bucky comes back in town bruised to all hell with the FBI on his tail with their own nefarious reasons for tracking Bucky down. Bucky has nowhere else to turn especially since when he comes back to Curt's he finds Gale holding his little baby. (This could be A/B/O I haven't decided, but it's definitely at least mpreg)

Amnesia fic - this is based off of a post I made about the effects of Bucky getting hit over the head like 3 times in the span of two days, its... somewhere (edit: here). But its about Bucky waking up with no memory of who he is just before he gets interrogated by the Germans and sent to Stalag Luft III where he meets a man that his heart rejoices at seeing but his mind doesn't recognize. Buck of course has to deal with the love of his life forgetting him.

Magic AU - Bucky is a Scamander and its now everyone's problem to deal with it. The tag to find all of my ramblings for it is magic au (not that Tumblr's tag system works), and @getinthefuckingjaeger just wrote the best ever fic of Bucky and Theseus so go read that.

I've also got a few paragraphs written of Foster Kid Bucky somewhere but that might never see the light of day (that's also from a hogans-heroes AU) where Bucky is a jaded teenager just trying to make it to 18 to get out of his shitty foster placement when in comes Buck whose mother finally divorced his dad, got custody of her kids, and moved to her hometown to escape. It's about a Bright Buck meeting a Jaded Bucky (a flip on their usual dynamics)

Blonde Bucky AU - I wrote a blurb on the Twin Cleven AU post, and the idea of Bucky bleaching his hair on a drunken night out with Curt and Bubbles has haunted me since <- published as well

There might be more? But these are the only ones I can remember off the top of my head right now that are plotted out beyond oh that'd be a good fic. I have a lot of time spent sitting and waiting right now, so I have the ability to write a multitude of fics. It's a nice Saturday evening, with a mild breeze and the perfect temperature.

The perfect temperature for panicking, of course!

"Shit shit shit," Usopp mutters, rummaging through his bag. "I swear I had it."

"Had what?" Kaya asks, peeking over his shoulder.

Usopp yelps at his friend's sudden presence. They'd gone shopping together, since Nami's birthday was soon. Usopp had a list Nami'd given him of gifts she wants. Well, he used to have the list.

"That list Nami gave me," he answers. "How else are we supposed to know what to get her?!"

Kaya hums in thought, then shrugs. "Can't you just text her?"

Usopp shakes his head. "Of course I can't! She'll kill me!" He shuts his eyes tightly, already feeling his friend's wrath.

Meanwhile, Nami huffs as she picks up a familiar-looking piece of paper on the ground. "This idiot," she mumbles.

"What's that?" you ask as she hands you the paper.

"Just a list for my friend on what he should buy me. The idiot probably lost it here."

You stare at the list, both surprised and not. Most of these items are ridiculously expensive. But this is Nami we're talking about, so of course they are.

"C'mon, we can find him and give it back," Nami says, taking out her phone.

You nod, but before she can do anything, someone runs into you, nearly knocking you over. "I'm so sorry!" the stranger says in a panicked voice. You hear a chuckle from behind him and see a girl with long blonde hair. The stranger himself has a long nose and poofy black hair.

"Usopp!" Nami shouts, hitting him on his head. "First you lose the list, then you nearly kill (Y/N)!"

"H-how did you-" he stutters, being cut off by Nami taking the list from your hands and holding it up.

Usopp sighs in defeat, taking the list from Nami as he and his friend walk away. He flashes you a smile as they leave, and Nami can only shake her head in disappointment.

Okay, so I just got into hockey cause I started playing on a club team at college and I suck but I love it, and getting into watching the NHL is literally the first time I’ve ever cared about sports. Saw a video of Mitch Marner playing hockey with his dog and immediately became attached. Also, my hockey number is 61 so I think it’s fate.

Your post about the narrative of the 2015 draft is absolutely stuck in my brain because it reads like a story but it’s just life! It’s real! So can we talk about the real life tragedy that is Mitch Marner? Everyone who has ever played with him talks about how much he loves the game, how his joy is infectious. All he’s ever wanted is to be a Maple Leaf. And yet he’s stuck. Sometimes I want him to leave, to go somewhere where he isn’t the scapegoat. But he’s not gonna choose to, cause that would be giving up his dream. And if he gets traded, my heart would break for him. But say he does. If he plays badly, it’ll be seen as proof that he was never really good, it was just Matthews and Nylander and co. And if he plays well, they’ll say he never really cared about Toronto. So say he stays. He will never play well enough to please the Toronto media and fans, because they have built this mindset where every loss is because of him and every win is in spite of him. He’s on the NHL leaderboard in points, goals, assists, so they find the randomest of stats (what the hell is xGF%???). I often say he cannot win in terms of people hating whatever he says to the media, but in the grand scheme of things, this whole game, he cannot win. There’s that lingering idea online that because of some of his media comments, he doesn’t care about the team. Then in that playoff game, he feels so awful about the penalty that he cries. And they shit on him for that too. There is nothing he can do to appease them, because they do not want to be appeased. They need someone to blame, and they made their choice long ago on who that would be.

He’s just a kid who loves hockey and loves his city and it does not love him back. He cares SO MUCH that it gets in his own way. It’s like a freaking Shakespearean tragedy.

(PS, have you ever read the Beartown series by Fredrick Backman? It’s about a small hockey town and is absolutely gorgeously written and full of Narratives. Your posts remind me of it in the best way.)

I HAVE BEEN HUNTING FOR BEARTOWN it is NEXT on my reading list and i need to get into it... local library here i come!!!!

okay. this fucking picture made me so mad i went on a 15 minute rant to my sister while she was trying to read her book.

so ive been looking at a lot of pictures of posts on pinterest because thats just where i spend most of my time. most of these posts are on the topic of adhd. ive never been properly diagnosed, but reading through these posts has made me feel so welcomed and understood (more than my parents have made me feel, pretending that this is "all just a phase that ill get over soon because pretending to have adhd is just the thing right now") that i realized ON MY OWN that "hey maybe i do have adhd." well.

i found this post while scrolling through pinterest, and it really sparked my anger.

i have a friend who was diagnosed with add before it was considered an "outdated" term and scrapped because apparently ALL FUCKING FORMS OF NEURODIVERGENCY THAT ARENT AUTISM ARE JUST "ADHD".

i read this post and it was what sparked my anger and my 15 minute rant to my sister. people who get degrees in this stuff, or counselors at schools, never really know what youre going through. all they know is that youre having some problems and they need to be solved.

which brings me back to this picture. if you look up "is add still a thing" on google, this is the first picture to pop up. and just seeing the visual aids they put with it makes me furious enough to throw something or someone out a fifth story window. the little girl is fucking SMILING while thinking about the most common shit people think us neurodivergent folks think when distracted. first off, no. false. we dont just think of video games and candy. we think of the randomest shit possible, like how long can i sit here without blinking or what kind of funny shit can i draw on this one sheet of paper.

and ALSO.

you cant just categorize adhd as TWO SEPARATE THINGS and call it good. we dont fit under two umbrellas. theres too many of us. we each have our own figurative umbrellas that only we ourselves can fit under, no one else. thats the problem with neurotypicals. they fit the typical stereotype for humans: we try to understand everything by putting it in a box. those lists of "symptoms"? i match every single one. on both sides. so ha. take that SCIENTISTS. what am i? some kind of freak of nature because i dont fit under just ONE of your precious categories?

i also looked up what "inattentive" means and it made me angrier. according to oxford languages, "inattentive" means "not paying attention to something", which doesnt seem too bad, right? it fits some people perfectly with their symptoms, right? but its not the definition that bugs me. its the example sentence thats used. "a particularly dull and inattentive student". basically saying that if you dont pay attention well to something, youre dull and boring.

im sorry, what? sometimes i have trouble paying attention, sure, but you ask any of my friends and they can agree i am NOT boring in any way, shape, or form. non of them would describe me as "dull". inattentive? sure, but not dull. so to call it "inattentive" adhd, instead of just add, is stupid! my friend with ADD (not fucking adhd, stupid scientists) is one of the funniest, most entertaining people ive ever met. shes an incredible artist, super smart, and knows how to make anyone laugh. does that sound dull to you? does she have problems focusing sometimes? yes. does she struggle with doing something sometimes? yes. but dont the rest of us?

my point is, when i see things like this, it pisses me off. like, unless all of the scientists who agreed "add" is an outdated term have it themselves, i refuse to believe its outdated and i will continue to say that my friend has it. she was literally diagnosed by the doctor telling her "you have attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder without the hyperactivity." THATS JUST FUCKING ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER YOU DUMBASS!!!

anyway, i hope im not the only one who feels this way. i just felt it necessary to get this out there. maybe someday, people wont be so dumb and single minded. in my opinion, neurodivergent people are superior in intellect and creativity, but i guess until someone like that takes over the world and dropkicks neurotypicals into the stratosphere, we'll never know.

Writing advice below!!! Cuz I wrote a lot n idk how to shut tf up!!! 🤭🤭🤭

Honestly, I only ever liked reading, I wasn’t into writing cuz I knew if I did, I probably wouldn’t have made any sense lmao. I think it was my first year of college when I took advanced essay classes (and got an A+ in both🤭). It was suuuper good practice for me, and it def helped that both of my professors were awesome. I did stop writing after that, but then lo and behold: Spiderverse happened. That’s when I redownloaded tumblr to join the atsv community, just to see what the other atsv girlies were up to, which then led to my smut addiction (oops), which led to the creative juices juicing. I def did NOT have the confidence to post it publicly, but I figured why not!! I’m doing this for myself!! I enjoy it!! That’s, like, the cool part of writing is that, and get this: you can write whatever YOU want. Crazy, right?????

Now, the hardest part is getting it on paper. Once you get over that hill, it’s literally so chill after that. What I do is I literally just list out specific things I want to happen for sure, and I list them chronologically, from beginning to end of the chapter, Drabble, etc. I also list certain dialogue that I want to be said as well, putting them chronologically, too. I do this because I find it easy to build sort of a “scene” off of them. Call it a skeleton, if you will. Then the rest of it sort of just… comes along. Outlines r literally my bffs <3 It might also help to literally just write out what the idea is specifically; what I mean is what sparked the idea? Is it a specific action? Is it a line someone said? Is it a specific occasion? Specific location? Just take note of it, and if u read it n draw a blank, come back to it later. Also, I promise, the light bulbs are gonna come at you in the most randomest of times… trust, it will come to you while ur, like, lying in bed at 3am, about to fall asleep.

I like cats, you like cats. It makes sense

But also the cat cafe is a bookstore bc I go to this bookstore cafe with this cute lil cat named Cedric but that's all the way in NC (not where I live)

So we would pick out a book to read together, something silly that would make us laugh

And we would have lots of sweet treats and hot chocolates while we read the book out loud in silly voices

We would also be snuggling with the cute cats, two teenage girls giggling in the corner if a cafe over a cheesy romance book

imagining we both live in a city, we would go on walks all the time tbh

Holding hands/p (if ur cool with that) to make sure we don't get lost and giggling about stuff that's happened to us recently

also looking around at the pretty landscapes all the trees and buildings and just being in awe of the world around us

Bonus points if we are looking at christmas decorations

BONUS BONUS points if we play this game; we take turns spotting people and giving then life stories. Like we just come up with what they are doing, how they are feeling.

Also we have some sort if hot chocolate or lemonade or some sort of drink that matches rhe vibes of our walks

I imagine these walks are sort of weekly. We don't walk far just a little bit to catch up with each other

first of all, Yes. to everything on this list.

i walk like an absolute DRUNKARD,, and i mean when i get comfortable i never walk straight and i'm always walking in a sort of zigzag pattern,,, i feel like you'd laugh at how silly i walk and then i'd start laughing cause you're laughing and in the end we'd both be cackling and stumbling down the pavement together (≧▽≦)

OMIGOSH I LOVE HANDHOLDING!!! or just any sort of physical affection (as long as you're comfortable with it) !!! when i get comfy with someone,, it's very common for me to sort of. drape myself over them (*ﾉ∀`*)

if you're comfy with it and you want to,, i feel like we'd scoot our chairs as close as possible and be having our shoulders touching with a cat chilling across our laps,, us holding a book and trying to laugh as quietly as possible in the back of the cafe.

we'd share earphones/earbuds!! 100% we'd do the little thingy where i put one in my ear and you put one in yours and we'd have a mix of both our favorite playlists on low volume while we walk,, kinda like background music!! low enough for us to hear eachother but high enough to be audible.

i'm actually a rollerblader!! ...not a very good one, but a rollerblader nonetheless!! i'd definitely take you skating in our free time when we have energy for it, and i'd throw protective gear at you 'cause i'm scared of us falling LMAO

but we'd be laughing the whole time anyway so it's okay (*ﾉ∀`*)

during sleepovers, i'd bring a big stash of snacks and candy carefully picked out to your taste and mine, we'd watch coraline or any other movies!!

and then late at night, when it's time to sleep,, i'd give you my plushies so we could go to bed holding soft objects :3

if you stayed up i'd randomly wake up at like 3:45 am to spout the randomest shit only to fall right back asleep a few minutes later.

assuming we don't go to the same school cause of the weekly walks to catch up with eachother,, i'd probably surprise you in the morning by knocking on your door with a big grin and your favorite snack, ready to walk you to school if i had a day off when you didn't. (if you're chill with it of course!!)

overall, you'd be a friend i cherish dearly. (and you are!!) (๑˘︶˘๑)

i'm a very big gift-giver but a very big broke dummy so you'd get attempted intricate paper flowers and handwritten letters, handfuls of stickers and little trinkets that made me think of you!!

This movie is listed as Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and a comedy. I’ve seen this movie so many times in the past 11 years. Definitely one of those What The Fuck did I just watch? movies. Something to watch when you’re baked, or even if you just like the strange and unusual, as Lydia describes herself.

I made myself a fancy cup of coffee with whip cream and chocolate sauce in preparation for this movie. Wanted something delicious to go with the creepy.

We follow Chase Williamson, Dave, around as he is on a drug called "Soy Sauce" and trying to find out what happened to his friend John, played by Rob Mayes.

One of my favorite things about this movie is that they got Paul Giamatti to play a role. Like what are the odds he’s in this movie. I don’t even think that this movie went into theaters. I found out about it from a guy I was seeing at the time it came out and it is based off of a book he read so I’m not sure if it went straight to… you know what… l’ll just leave this hear. It isn’t important. What is, a girl just burst into several snakes and a door knob turned into a dick!

Now we have this meat man, literal man made out of different meats (whole turkey, ribs, sausage links).

There is the randomest band. They sing “Camel Holocaust” its definitely not s song like I’ve ever heard before. The beat is really good though. We are seeing this band as a background to how they got Soy Sauce.

We Meet Robert Marley, played by Tai Bennett. He does a really good job of playing someone reaaaaaally creepy. He is going about proving Dave that his abilities are real. All I have to say is high or not, a lot of what happens in this movie makes a lot of sense. Makes you think.

Love that the dog in this movie has a punny name. it’s Bark Lee 🤣

Yes, let me put a syringe that has an unknown drug in out pants pocket. Yes yes, that sounds like a smart idea 🙄

Idk what it is about CW. He just cracks me up through this whole movie. When he first gets injected and is talking to the priest. It’s some freaking/funny shit 😂

If you know anything about Doug Jones, it should give you some insight into the level of creep factor he brings to this movie.. I swear in Buffy it’s the creepiest.

Non-fiction books i read in 2024

i don't write about non-fiction on this blog, for several reasons really, but simply put i don't feel the need to do so. i rarely score them on goodreads since there's no need to judge the things i typically evaluate in fiction. but the purpose of this blog is to document and shortly describe things i've read, for myself so i'd remember their contents better, so here's a simplified list of non-fiction books i have read this year.

I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy [ audiobook, listened in finnish ] the life story of an ex child actress who only started acting because her narcissist mother made her. she eventually broke through in a popular kids' show and suffered from bulimia and other illnesses throughout the experience. i didn't know jennette from before, i don't know if icarly was ever a thing in my country at all (or then i'm just too old to know it), but by the end of the book i felt like i thoroughly knew her. read in january.

Pienin yhteinen jaettava ("The smallest common dividend") by Pirkko Saisio [ physical book, read in finnish ] the author's memoirs about her childhood. a collection of small moments from her life. i don't recall liking anything about this much but it was a fast read. read in january/february.

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote [ physical book, read in finnish ] a work of true crime about a murder case from 1959 when two men murdered a 4-member family in kansas. i had no idea this was true crime when i went in, i thought i was reading fiction. only realised the truth at the end lol. read in february.

Luonto pakastimessa ("Nature in a freezer") by Anu Silfverberg [ physical book, read in finnish ] a collection of the author's columns. i think she's an activist and has a provocative tone on purpose and i'm not really into that. some articles i agreed with (mostly criticism of religions), some i didn't. there was an especially dumb text about how all zoos are evil when in reality they do nature reservation work in my country. read in february/march.

Afghanerne ("The Afghans") by Åsne Seierstad [ audiobook, listened in finnish ] a deep dive into the contemporary history of afghanistan, including the birth of taliban and the events of 9/11 from the other side, through the lives of a selection of afghan people. this was very story-like, sometimes i wasn't even sure if we're still going non-fiction. i learned a lot about afghans and the history of afghanistan. read in march.

Solkattens år ("A sun cat's year") by Merete Mazzarella [ physical book, read in finnish ] a collection of the author's thoughts on aging and finding a new romantic partner in her later years. most of the book is short memoirs about things that have happened to the author, or her thoughts on books she's read, or other such things. it was pretty mundane, a fast little read, but just a bit bleak for someone in their 30s like me. read in june/july.

Ruumiin ylittävä ääni ("A voice that surpasses the body") by Tuomas Aitonurmi [ audiobook, listened in finnish ] a collection of essays about different topics: bullying and self-esteem, masculinity, music, writing, horses. the only thing they all had in common, apart from the author himself, was that there's a ton of references to other people's works. another fast little book, but all the vague referencing of the randomest things seemingly for the joy of referencing kinda reminded me of house of leaves tbh which made it unintentionally comical. but this made me realise i rather enjoy non-fiction where you just get to learn the author and their thoughts and life. kinda feels like getting a new friend. read in september.

Ulkopuolisuudesta ("About being an outsider") by Elina Kujala [ audiobook, listened in finnish ] several different angles to the experience of feeling like an outsider, mostly through examples from the author's own life, but she has also interviewed other people for variety. the topics vary from social anxiety and general introversion to being LGBT, being disabled, being a woman, being neurodivergent and such. i relate to a lot in here but it was also just a decently interesting, short listen that i picked up from a magazine article. the interview parts feel very brief, and sometimes she goes a bit off-topic with her diary entries. also this is a storytel original i.e. made for the subscribers of an audiobook app, probably as a direct commission from the app to the author, so… well, i don't know if that means anything really, but yeah. read in september.

Sex substanser som förändrar ditt liv / High on Life by David JP Phillips [ audiobook, listened in finnish ] a swedish cishet family man tells me i can get more oxytocin by stopping at the door when returning from work every day and listening to a nice song before i go home so i can feel the hugs of my children and hear the loving words of my wife better. it's a self-help book about how to have more dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin and all the other good stuff in your life. though the majority of the examples are unrelatable to me, this was quite informative for being a short little self help, to be fair. this also made me realise i'm actually doing pretty great and don't need to deliberately cook up "angel cocktails" to feel good. read in november.

Kaksipäinen koira ja muita eläimiä Neuvostoliiton tieteessä ("A two-headed dog and other animals in Soviet science") by Iina Kohonen [ audiobook, listened in finnish ] the title is misleading, there are no other animals. just dogs. about 2/3 of this was about the russian surgeon who experimented with dogs, the rest was about soviet space dogs. morbidly fascinating in a way and i'm always here for more reasons to hate russia, but i wanted more animals and less trivia about old russian scientists or meta about the writing process and the author talking about her own thoughts. read in november/december.
