This is an artwork I drew of Rainbow when she's about 4 or 5 with Hanako celebrating the Japanese tradition of hosting festivals and having picnics to watch the Sakura trees bloom, which is called Hanami.

They're both in their own kimonos (Hanako's is not really a kimono, it's more of a dress based on a kimono. But that's besides the point-) Rainbow's is more based on what children wear for the Japanese holiday, Children's Day.

So as mentioned before. I've made a challenge to myself for the summer going into fall of different drawing prompts/challenges. This one was to draw in pastel colors.

I decided to draw Rainbow pastel, but had certain aspects still be similar to what she originally looks like. For example, the reds in her clothes are just lighter shades of red compared to to original outfit, where it is a bold red sweater and a dark (almost maroon) red for the skirt. I kept the gray and black the same too.

REDRAW TIME!!!

I decided to redraw this artwork of Rainbow with her goggles. The original is the last image of the post.

This is set to when she's about 11 or 12 years old, and she gets a pair of goggles that are huge for her from a friend of Hanako's. She ends up really liking them and wears them all the time until she's around 16 or 17.

I really enjoyed redrawing this and seeing how much progress I made in the last 2 years. I can't wait to see myself progress more in the future!
