I took a train for a non-medical reason (for the second time in nearly 2 months!)
It went more than 1 stop away(!)
I did not worry about how far away the restaurant was, or if I could walk that far or what it would mean later
We actually changed plans on the fly and wandered around til we found somewhere we liked for a drink
And then went to a SECOND location! Without even checking how far away!
And I sat on a stool????
And my back feels............... normal🥹? And I got home without issue 🥹? And then played with my dog on the floor 🥹🥹?
I know it will hurt when I wake up, maybe pretty badly, but I am kinda starting to trust that maybe I might slowly be getting gradually a little better? Knock wood?

Survived cardiac rehab day one
Fucking drenched in sweat and exhausted
They are trying to kill me
#ok obviously not really. they are trying to increase my cardiac health#but cripes almighty#there was an education portion which was no big. mostly stuff i already know about handling stress#then resistance training. oh god. the resistance training#we were supposed to do squats at one point#and i couldn't. i fell backwards against the wall twice and then an exercise therapist came over and showed me an alternative#room full of 20+ cardiac patients. half of them with canes or walkers#and when we walked laps... every one of those fuckers was lapping me#i felt so pathetic it was all i could do not to cry#anyway. i managed not to cry. i walked three laps. i got home. i'm going to eat a yogurt now#mod post#health stuff#cardiac rehab#i am gonna try to do my physio stretches so i won't be too stiff tomorrow but honestly#i'm afraid i'm gonna be crippled for several days now. we'll see

Regarding exercise and stretching advice posts, it's important to remember that not every stretch or exercise is going to work for you, because everybody's body is different.
For instance: if you're prone to hyperextending your shoulders, it's probably not a good idea to do shoulder rolls with your arms outstretched as you may end up injuring yourself. Usually, tho, there are "less intense" exercises(in this example: shoulder rolls with arms at side and shoulder "pinches") that are just as good and don't carry that chance of injury. If anything hurts, or just feels weird, stop doing it and look for an alternative: Evolution is ABSOLUTELY stupid enough to make a body capable of breaking itself.

Somehow, after months of not moving a muscle, I managed to get off my ass and do some light stretching + a whole damn abs routine too, that I still have no idea how I got through it, I remember it being hard on Normal day, and now my whole body is feeling this little workout and I'm like?? WHo are you?

#the comments go in exactly every direction you think they will go#unsurprisingly didn't have to scroll too far for the first Fitness Is Body Shaming comment#which was absolutely not the intent of the post nor a position the author agrees with#(the super condensed point of the post was Improving Handler Fitness Helps You In Agility)#(which should not be as controversial an opinion as it is)#aaaaaanyway#just gonna sit over here on my own journey with health and fitness#i am too lazy to ever be super healthy and super fit#but i am making improvements!!#and what a surprise it makes a difference and feels good!#regular stretching and strengthening exercises are making a difference in my chronic SI pain#which absolutely affects my ability to do agility because It Fucking Hurts#that at one point i thought i would need surgery for#but instead relates more to muscle imbalances and tightness#one of the many things i have learned through Chandra's long rehab journey#is that this stuff is Effort but there is no quick fix or substitute for it#but people don't like to hear that#facebook is a scourge

My back is so bad today I actually started doing my physiotherapy stretches again after not finding the motivation to do them for literal months
So that's uh. A silver lining maybe?

It's weird how I'm too physically strong for my mom to abuse me now. If she tried to hit me like she used to I could legitimately hurt her enough to get her off me. I suppose it doesn't mean much when I'm a 17 year old boy and she's 37 but I'm gradually not the helpless child I used to be
