Listen well children of the sand and neon, our mother space has party ready for us tonight so turn off your discoballs, gaze towards the sky and marvel upon her godly fireworks because Perseus is throwing us his shinning diamonds and it is time to feel their warm glimmer in your heart

i've been thinking abt my expectations for work vs my colleagues and how it feels like they expect to be paid for every thing that they do, which is not wrong, but nonetheless baffling to me. and i realized that i think that they think they should be paid for the AMOUNT of work that they do but i think of myself as being paid for the HOURS i'm working. if it falls within the hours i'm working then i'm happy to do it without expecting any extra compensation, but if it means i work more hours, then i expect to be compensated for that.
also i just tend to prefer to stay busy, so i think to myself that if i'm here i might as well work. it's a transactional situation -- i am being paid to work so i should fulfill my end of the bargain. that's just the polite and right thing to do, in my mind.
and none of us are right or wrong imo, it's just a difference in mindset that i find interesting 🤔

Still a bit wound up from waking up at 4:30 am thinking a desperate animal was trying to get into my bedroom. Luckily it was just desperate armadillos feasting on bugs beside my bedroom window while throwing dirt at my window and pushing each other into the space under the window because they are little hoggy piggies.
This is one of my surprisingly born with it traits of ABSOLUTE WIDE AWAKE TERROR because my my imagination is too vivid. Which is frankly a fascinating trait to be born with when another one of my born with it traits is the ability to rationalize things with logic like knowing mall Santas can't be real Santa because he's too busy, they don't look alike, and no one can be simultaneously in every mall. I had that figured out when I was like two going on three.
Anyway, I did manage to take a disruptive hour and a half nap around 15:00 at least (TV was too loud)
I'm just glad I know what that sounds like because one of the nice things about this trait is once I know the reality of something then I can disspell any weirdo imaginings before they get out of hand like they did this morning.

the funny thing is that i don't think younger people - and i mean those under the age of 40 - really have a grasp on how many of today's issues can be tied back to a disastrous reagan policy:
war on drugs: reagan's aggressive escalation of the war on drugs was a catastrophic policy, primarily targeting minority communities and fueling mass incarceration. the crusade against drugs was more about controlling the Black, Latino and Native communities than addressing the actual problems of drug abuse, leading to a legacy of broken families and systemic racism within the criminal justice system.
deregulation and economic policies: reaganomics was an absolute disaster for the working class. reagan's policies of aggressive tax cuts for the rich, deregulation, and slashing social programs were nothing less than class warfare, deepening income inequality and entrenching corporate greed. these types of policies were a clear message that reagan's america was only for the wealthy elite and a loud "fuck you" to working americans.
environmental policies: despite his reputation being whitewashed thanks to the recovery of the ozone layer, reagan's environmental record was an unmitigated disaster. his administration gutted critical environmental protections and institutions like the EPA, turning a blind eye to pollution and corporate exploitation of natural resources. this blatant disregard for the planet was a clear sign of prioritizing short-term corporate profits over the future of the environment.
AIDS crisis: reagan's gross neglect of the aids crisis was nothing short of criminal and this doesn't even begin to touch on his wife's involvement. his administration's indifference to the plight of the lgbtq+ community during this devastating epidemic revealed a deep-seated bigotry and a complete failure of moral leadership.
mental health: reagan's dismantling of mental health institutions under the guise of 'reform' led directly to a surge in homelessness and a lack of support for those with mental health issues. his policies were cruel and inhumane and showed a personality-defining callous disregard for the most vulnerable in society.
labor and unions: reagan's attack on labor unions, exemplified by his handling of the patco strike, was a blatant assault on workers' rights. his actions emboldened corporations to suppress union activities, leading to a significant erosion of workers' power and rights in the workplace. he was colloquially known as "Ronnie the Union Buster Reagan"
foreign policy and military interventions: reagan's foreign policy, particularly in latin america, was imperialist and ruthless. his administration's support for dictatorships and right-wing death squads under the guise of fighting "communism" showed a complete disregard for human rights and self-determination of other nations.
public health: yes, reagan's agricultural policies actually facilitated the rise of high fructose corn syrup, once again prioritizing corporate profits over public health. this shift in the food industry has had lasting negative impacts on health, contributing to the obesity epidemic and other health issues.
privatization: reagan's push for privatization was a systematic dismantling of public services, transferring wealth and power to private corporations and further eroding the public's access to essential services.
education policies: his approach to education was more of an attack on public education than anything else, gutting funding and promoting policies that undermined equal access to quality education. this was, again, part of a broader agenda to maintain a status quo where the privileged remain in power.
this is just what i could come up with in a relatively short time and i did not even live under this man's presidency. the level at which ronald reagan has broken the united states truly can't be overstated.

So tumblr keeps on shadowbanning Siraj's accounts and he tries to remake of course, but right now, he is exhausted with  how targeted these bans have started to feel.  To be honest, Siraj is tired of a lot of things: the never ending atrocity, the hunger, the cold, and of course, he is tired of barely making any progress in the  campaign at all. He wanted to make a post today but since he doesn’t have the energy to travel all the way to Deir-al Balah for an Internet connection, I am writing this on behalf of him. Please read through this if possible; these are Siraj Abudayeh's own words:
A perception gained through hearing is merely a poor reflection of the actual, be it about events concerning Gaza, Ramallah, Paris or USA.
It can't ever be enough even if you diligently follow the news. Or if you read every single article or watch every video that maybe available online. For there are things present in the air of Gaza- rotten and burnt smell, metallic smoke that sticks to the mouth and coats the nostrils, poison that is inhaled with every breathe and chemicals taken into the lungs- that no video can capture.
So of course there is a difference! It is a difference between reading the phrase, “I waited seven hours for a bottle of water,” and actually being parched and having to wait hours for some semi-polluted water. There is a difference between reading about Gazan children losing their childhoods, and actually having to see your son despairingly cry out “BREAD!” There is a difference between hearing about a torn tent, and actually having to live in it, that too if you were lucky to afford one.
There is always a difference between reading/hearing it and LIVING it. For all this, I want to say that the one who is only hearing about it does not have the right to draw up conclusions about the needs of the person living the nightmare. They have no right to either question his relentless pursuit for his cause, nor expect that he can be steadfast and not feel exhaustion. There is a difference between what we know and what others have the privilege of not knowing: there is a difference, there is a DIFFERENCE. The meaning is simple, there is always a difference.
In the last 2 days, we have seen some disturbing comments being made about the genocide going on in Gaza. I don't actually have anything to say regarding such banal behavior but I do request you to read what Gazans have to say. Ultimately Palestine will be free, with or without us, but I hope that when we chanted "Free Palestine", there was some truth to it.

31 July: Update on Mohammed Iwais
Hey everyone, a lot of you have seen my posts about Mohammed @mohdiwais in Gaza. Since October 7, Mohammed has lost his house and his company to the IOF bombing, and he is struggling to access clean water, food, and necessary medical care. He has 9 brothers, all of whom are married and have children, and he's fundraising to help all of them get to safety and eventually rebuild their lives.
Tumblr media
In my last post I told you about his sister, who got shot and had a massive bullet embedded in her leg:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luckily, the operation to remove it was successful, and she is still alive. However, today Mohammed told me that her condition is getting worse due to pollution and lack of access to medications she needs. Caring for someone after surgery is hard enough without enduring a horrific genocide at the same time. Her family are desperately hoping she recovers, but they are stuck in unsafe conditions, being bombed and deprived of basic necessities by the IOF.
That's where you come in. Mohammed and his family are in an ongoing crisis, and they need your help. Since I started boosting his campaign, he's raised a few thousand more SEK, and he's extremely grateful to everyone who has donated and helped share his campaign.
However, he still has a long way to go before he reaches his goal of kr500,000 SEK, or $46,679 USD.
This is an attainable goal! But he desperately needs your help to get there.
Before October 7, his family had 37 people, including his brothers and sisters and their children. They lost more than 10 people when their house was bombed, and even laying their bodies to rest properly was not possible in the rubble. Please don't let the Iwais family lose another member. They are still here with us, and they need help urgently.
The support you have given already is amazing, both by donating and by sharing Mohammed's campaign when you can't give anything. Please keep that up. Don't look away, and don't forget about Mohammed, his family, and the horrific abuses they are enduring.
This is an ongoing crisis, and your help can make a tangible difference. Any amount helps; nothing is too small. If you've been waiting to donate to a Gazan campaign, consider this a sign and help Mohammed. Everyone deserves a decent life, and right now Mohammed is still praying just to survive.
kr31,010 SEK / 500,000

simon didn’t care about dying. if he was going to die one day by the barrel of a gun or the blade of a knife on the field, then he was going to do enjoy the finer things in life without much care for the toll it may take on his body — one of the finer things being smoking, of course.
a nice cigarette at the end of a long, dragging day was like a reward. the burning hiss of smoke filling his chest, the bitter taste of tobacco tainting his tastebuds, the swirls of billowing smoke polluting the air. it filled him with an ebb of warmth and poisoned his lungs an ugly black.
johnny always told him he needed to take it easy, take a step back. it wasn’t healthy, the packs of cigarettes that would litter his vest pockets or his sleeping quarters, and it would be the thing to kill him one day. and who wanted to be a kickass lieutenant, only to die from something so measly like a cigarette?
simon didn’t care either way.
at least, he didn’t care… until he got a pretty bird that wrinkled her nose up whenever he pulled out the little packet of cancer. he suddenly became hyper aware of your distaste, became a tad bit guilty when you’d tell him the effects smoking would have on him. it was like johnny but tenfold, and somehow, you saying it hit harder.
simon suddenly cared about dying.
the uncaring little part of him that used to tell him to live life how he wanted, that he was going to die at war anyway, was now having a change of heart, all because you wanted him to grow old with you.
he made the ultimate decision to quit. seeing you light up whenever you’d ask him did you smoke today? and he’d reply with no was worth the tough effort.
it was a lot more difficult than he thought it would be. of course, he’d done it for so long, his body was addicted to the nicotine. but he also was discovering that it wasn’t just that — he had a horrible oral fixation with cigarettes.
what better way to satiate the craving to have his mouth on something than to do so with his tongue on you every chance he got, eating you out like a starved man? he got to make his pretty bird cum, while he got his fix for the day. win win.
