I think everyone needs to hear my batshit insane Kobra Kid backstory I had in high school.

So precanon Party and Kobra live together in the city. Kobra (who I named John for some fucking reason????) is an engineer who makes droids for the city. The city was creating a new line of droids to fight the rebels in the desert. These droids were made to look and act as human as possible and would run off of solar power. The idea behind them was that BL/ind would drop them off in the desert and have them integrate into the movement not only acting as surveillance but also killing any lone killjoys they come across.

So one night Party tries to convince ‘john’ (again, fuckass name, it’ll make sense to why I’m calling him that in like two seconds) to leave with them one night as they try to escape. But Johns like ‘hell no, we’ll just die the second we step out there. I’m staying’ and then party leaves. But over time he starts to regret that decision and wishes he left with his sibling. But instead of actually leaving the city himself he recreates his personality and uploads it into the droid like a sleeper agent and named it Kobra Kid. (and this is the last time we hear of john so idk maybe he died)

Once Kobra (who uses it/it’s pronouns) was deployed into the desert Johns programming overwrote Better Livings programming and it removed its gps chip and started on the only mission that was programmed into it, find Party. (there was also a concept for an angst short where when Kobra finally finds Party, Party immediately hugs it, thrilled that they believed they’ve found their sibling, but slowly realizes it’s not human because its skin is surprisingly cool for being under the sun, its body is hard in places it shouldn’t be and it has no heartbeat.)
