Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Georgia Republican who has been criticized in the past for her dalliances with antisemitic tropes and influencers, explained her vote against a bill defining antisemitism by saying that the bill it rejects the “gospel” that “the Jews” handed Jesus over to his crucifiers.

But Greene, posting on X, formerly Twitter, laid out a different concern: that the bill threatened Christian expression. “Antisemitism is wrong, but I will not be voting for the Antisemitism Awareness Act of 2023 (H.R. 6090) today that could convict Christians of antisemitism for believing the Gospel that says Jesus was handed over to Herod to be crucified by the Jews,” she said. “Read the bill text and contemporary examples of antisemitism like #9.”

In her tweet, Greene posts two photos: One focuses on the portion of the bill that adopts as part of its definition of antisemitism the 11 “contemporary examples of antisemitism” in the definition of antisemitism composed by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance. The second photo highlights the ninth example, “using the symbols and images associated with classic antisemitism (e.g., claims of Jews killing Jesus or blood libel) to characterize Israel or Israelis.”

Her fellow far-right Republican, Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, explained his no vote in similar terms on the same platform. “The Gospel itself would meet the definition of antisemitism under the terms of this bill!” Gaetz writes, and gores on to quote New Testament scripture that collectively blames Jews for Jesus’s killing

Foxes Headcanons (Modern Day: Social Media Edition)

•Neil Josten uses social media after canon.

^ he posts the most vague shit ever and dark humor posts. He also has an anonymous hate page full of Riko Moriyama being clumsy or clips from the game where he lost against the foxes.

^^ he uses audios on TikTok and other socials that imply he’s fallen for someone he was on a team with and just lets the fan base assume it was Matt bc the whole Andrew/Neil rivalry. He likes to see reactions.

•Andrew starts to do art to express himself.

^He has a few anonymous art accounts throughout a few platforms and posts like twice a week on each. Hes really popular on TikTok and insta.

^^Neil stumbles across his content and realizes it’s him because he posted a picture he drew and sat on his dresser. Neil doesn’t tell him but frequently visits the accounts bc he wants to see Andrews art but knows he isn’t comfortable sharing in person or he would have.

•Matt and Dan would be influencers.

^ Matt mostly does sports equipment rating and reviews but he also does goofy ass videos with the rest of the foxes. Dan would do a lot about woman rights and activism in general. Big supporter of the LBGTQ.

FX + Vanity Fair Party

Last night Harvey attended a party hosted by FX and Vanity Fair with castmates Kayvan Novak, Mark Proksch, and Matt Berry as well as series showrunner Paul Simms.

He wore a gorgeous black and white ensemble featuring a sheer black corset by Christian Siriano and a sheer white coat by Dior. Both pieces have shown up in Harvey's red carpet style in the past, and the Dior coat has been featured in photoshoots as well.

He and Kayvan matched in contrast to their castmates and Simms, with Kayvan notably reprising his "dreamy" button-up featuring a butterfly design. Butterflies are a recurring motif in Harvey's fashion, so it's lovely to see Kayvan use it in their outfit coordination (which itself has been a recurring theme for them this summer).

Harvey's hair was done by long-time friend and collaborator Connie Agawin, while his makeup was the work of artist and producer Kat Bardot of Story Mill Entertainment, who has previously worked extensively with director Mike Flanagan and actor and producer Kate Siegel, both of whom Harvey also recently worked with on Life of Chuck and Damned If You Do, respectively.

I have to note that Harvey's eyelashes really stand out here (due to the application of just 3 individual false lashes on the outer corner of each eye, according to Bardot). The effect is a lovely tie-in to the first poster for season 6 of What We Do In The Shadows, in which Guillermo appears to be both wide-eyed ingenue and Dr. Frankenstein's assistant.

I also enjoy the choice of another voluminous bow over a traditional tie, the untucked white shirt beneath the corset, and the choice of a wide-leg suit trouser with a black-on-black satin stripe down the outside of the pant leg. The look is finished with a pair of patent leather dress shoes.

These little details--the careful color selection, the contrasts in texture, the use of unexpected silhouettes--always make Harvey's looks stand out as fresh and unique, even when the individual elements are familiar.

As Kat Bardot noted in her Instagram story, his taste in fashion is truly unmatched.

You laugh locking eyes with chyna who was around the corner watching the interaction after showering and changing in her locker room while katie at first was with lita until she had to do a segment leaving katie with the boys who immediately fell into being older brothers being seen by Jeff and Matt tickling and making the little girl laugh nonstop smiles painted on their faces pictures being taken of the two with katie mostly by lita and Stevie who also turned to a puddle of putty over the little girl playing with his hair and waddling around behind him before falling on her butt or grabbed by one of the boys or lita until now as you share a hug with the two having met and become friends with them while you were pregnant becoming peas in a pod laughing at katie on edge's shoulders as pictures are taken by chyna before she was in your arms smiling at everyone who showed affection to the little girl even getting a picture of the Undertaker holding katie who fell asleep in his arms putting th pictures into a photo album that you made full of things of your pregnancy and katie as she grew up.

This is the fifth album of a projected 12 in Matana Roberts’s Coin Coin series, named after a slave, later activist, Marie Thérèse Coincoin. Another element of the Coin Coin series is the relationship between past and present. In this case, the overturning of Roe v. Wade in the present mirrors the story of an illegal and fatal abortion conducted on one of Roberts’s ancestors. In the notes, she says,"I wanted to talk about this issue, but in a way where she gets some sense of liberation.” Rather than being shamed, as so many women currently are in the wake of the SCOTUS decision, in the lyrics Robert’s relative is described as, “electric, alive, spirited, fire, and free.”

Roberts is a versatile artist, a saxophonist and composer who not only works in musical contexts but in theater, fine arts, and poetry. The spoken word portions of Coin, Coin Chapter Five are performed by Roberts and poet Gitnajali Jain. The balance of spoken word and music is well-conceived. The music itself is performed by a host of prominent musicians and produced by Kyp Malone (TV on the Radio). Roberts covers a number of instruments in addition to saxophone, Darius Jones plays alto saxophone, Matt Lavelle, clarinet and trumpet, Mazz Swift, violin, Stuart Bogie, clarinet and bass clarinet, and Mike Pride and Ryan Sawyer play drums and percussion. Pretty much all the performers play tin whistles and sing.

Free jazz is an important component of Robert’s music-making, and it is here in abundance on “Different Rings,” “Shake My Bones,”  and “Predestined Confessions.” The arrangements of these complex pieces are well wrought throughout. “A Caged Dance,” trades a gorgeous post-bop solo with dissonant interjections, providing a polystylistic framework. This is not unique to “A Caged Dance.” A number of pieces combine different idioms. Malone’s synthesizer and Pride and Sawyer’s rockist drumming move the piece outside the jazz tradition. The chorused vocals that sing rounds and the children’s folk song, “All the Pretty Horses,” create some of the most memorable music on the album.

The closing track, “Ain’t I … Your mystery is our history,” with its plethora of tin whistles and jangly percussion, recalls both avant-classical and African music. It is significant that Roberts returns to a bespoke instrumentation and non-Western sound world to send the piece home. Less than halfway through, the Coin Coin series is engaging and ever new. Seven more installments: one is eager to hear what is next.

1. Daddy match (reprisal): sequel to the who's your daddy match, but its daddy ass v daddy magic. Loser has to temporarily go by real name. Magic gets increasingly agitated bc the Acclaimed are doing good ringside support while Angelo is busy looking at a photo of Ruby and sighing in a lovesick manner.

2. Someone has to change: Ruby soho vs red velvet reprisal, loser needs to change their name to a different color. Angelo interrupts this match as well, and then Magic has to come drag him backstage. You can faintly hear the sound of yelling backstage for the rest of the match, despite the noise of the crowd.

3. Who's House (please we need to know for tax purposes): Swerve vs Malakai. Nana and Julia are ringside. No consequences but there's a b plot where Nana keeps trying to teach Julia the dance and she keeps mirroring it on instinct and then getting annoyed

4. Adaaaaam: adam copeland v adam cole v adam page, whoever eats the pin is kidnapped by roddy.

5. Nicknapped: Bucks + pending? vs Patriarchy, but the teams have swapped Nicks. The match ends w the nicks pinning each other. Luchasaurus and whoever the third member of the bucks team is both leave partway thru and it takes Matt and Christian a full 10 minutes to notice bc they're so focused on the Nick fight going on.

6. Close enough: both hangman and christian already had matches, so they make Brian Cage and Ethan Page fight instead. Loser has to deal with their last name twin's stable drama for the next month. Brian Cage crumbles under the expectations of fatherhood.

8. Max²: MJF challenged Caster but hes still injured so the backstage plot of the week is MJF trying to lure Caster onstage so that they can do the fight but every time they run into each other Caster's doing something increasingly stupid. In the final 5 minutes of the show it seems like theyre going to come out but then the lights cut out and the devil appears onscreen.

7. Going to the Tonys: Toni makes Tony Kahn and Tony Schiavone wrestle her because she was annoyed at being left out of the storyline even tho she has two name doubles. She is moments away from seriously injuring someone when RJ and Renee appear and placate her with a plastic replica Tony trophy thats been modified to say "#1 Toni"

9. Kill your double: Kris Statlander kills Chris Jericho in real life

The country singer Ty Herndon tied the knot with Alex Schwartz on Saturday in an outdoor ceremony in Chapmansboro, Tennessee.

The wedding was directed by Herndon’s longtime friend Bonnie Hadden, who runs his fan club, and officiated by Melissa Greene, a former member of the contemporary Christian band Avalon. Groomsmen included former Avalon member Michael Passons, Herndon’s manager and former GLAAD VP Zeke Stokes, and Herndon’s longtime producer and guitarist Erik Halbig.

There were musical performances by Anita Cochran, Matt Bloyd, Jamie Floyd + Jimmy Thow, and Shelly Fairchild throughout the event.

When it came to food, Herndon says they wanted a "southern feast" for guests. Al’s Diner and Deli in Nashville catered the plated dinner, which included chicken, pork, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, and salad with iced tea.

The couple’s cake was a three-tier with almond butter creme and blueberry lemon tiers, created by Ivey Cake in Nashville. Plus, an ice cream bar and a chocolate station. 

Ahead of the couple's nuptials, Herndon said he couldn't wait to celebrate with their closest friends and family and feel the "love that folks are bringing from all across the country and around the world to be a part of our special day.”

Herndon and Schwartz also honored family special family members during the day.

Herndon says ––– “My father has been deceased for a long time, so we had a beautiful photo of him on a table alongside Alex’s baby brother, who passed away.”
