Witty Titles Back Soon
Happy New Year! I'm excited to make my first post of the year, but utterly unable to think of any witty post titles. I keep trying to make a word play around "new" and "Peru" and it's all terrible. So pithy titles under construction, back soon (I hope)!
Harvey is ringing in 2025 in Peru, and seeing the majestic vistas of Machu Picchu via train. He posted several photos yesterday showcasing the gorgeous views, as well as this cute and comfy travel outfit!
Statement Jacket
The central feature of this outfit is the colorful striped woven tapestry jacket from Zara, which you may recognize from Harvey's time in San Sebastián in November.
The jacket is discontinued, but can still be found on sites such as eBay, Thrift Plus, and Poshmark for between $18 and $55 USD. Composition and sizing details are always sparse on discontinued items, but their similar jackets are cotton or linen blends, and this jacket appears to come in sizes up to men's XL (typically a 48 to 52-inch chest measurement at Zara).
Comfy Base Layer
Harvey paired the jacket with relaxed fit khaki joggers, similar to the following styles:
Volcom Road Trip Pants, cotton blend, $51.95 (sizes up to men's XXL)
No Boundaries Twill Joggers, cotton blend, $17.98 (sizes up to men's 3XL)
Hollister Relaxed Twill Joggers, cotton blend, $49.95 (sizes up to men's XXL, available in regular and tall lengths)
Benson & Clark Vintage Ranger Cargo Pants, cotton, $49.99 (sizes up to men's 2XL)
He also showed off this new shirt for his Helluva Boss character Vassago, available for preorder in sizes up to 10XL (96-inch chest) from Vivziepop via SharkRobot for $27.95.
Sophisticated Accessories
Harvey finished off his travel 'fit with colorful socks, these blue Gucci boots, and a cross body bag of indeterminate shape and origin.
Lastly, Harvey reprised the Raen Rune tortoiseshell sunglasses from the BTS photos shared on the set of That Friend.
I've really enjoyed watching Harvey's fashion journey more closely this year, and can't wait to see what 2025 brings! I hope you'll join me. 🩵💚

Corduroy Blues
My obsession with Harvey's jackets continues!
Today he posted a smoldering selfie acknowledging liminal spacemas to his Instagram stories in this cotton corduroy jacket from Zara.
The jacket is a relaxed fit and features a zip front closure, large welt pockets at the hip, an interior pocket, a very poppable lapel collar (as Harvey demonstrates in the photo above), and a slightly gathered hem and cuffs.
Sizes go up to XL, with a pit-to-pit measurement of 25.8 inches. It retails for $139 USD but is currently on sale for 30% off.
The blue option is discontinued, but it's a popular posting on resale sites such as Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, and eBay for anywhere from $30 to $110 USD.
If the blue isn't your speed, the jacket also came in coral at one time. The style is currently available only in black from Zara's website.

SoCal Casual
Harvey has been filming That Friend in Pasadena for the last couple of weeks, and some of the clothes in the BTS photos caught my eye.
Navy Polo Shirt from OxKnit
Harvey brought the original definition of preppy back (did y'all know they've redefined preppy? wild) with this 100% cotton vintage style knit polo in navy. Its smart stripe accents and purple zip on the collar perfectly offset the staid color and neckline, adding a bit of cheek to the outfit. To make it even more so 1998 in the best way, it's paired with brown straight leg corduroy pants, a pair of tan Birkenstocks, and a chic foldover crossbody bag. The polo retails for $35.90 from OxKnit and comes in sizes up to 4XL (51.2-inch chest measurement).
Rune Sunglasses from Raen
https://raen.eu/products/rune-split-moab-tortoise-green-polarized-48
These classic square tortoiseshell sunglasses are a timeless silhouette and color that pair flawlessly with the retro-preppy vibe of the outfit. They're pricier at €184.87 (~$194.92 USD), but more affordable tortoiseshell sunglasses are everywhere.
Rayban sells a similar pair for $91 at Sunglass Hut, as does Coach Outlet for $89. There's also this pair for $39 from EyeBuyDirect.
Southwest Knit Shawl Cardigan from Lucky Brand
I love the warm colors and lovely thick knit texture of this cardigan! It's 100% cotton, so nice and breathable, and looks like it would be the perfect layer for that time of year when the temperature goes from chilly in the morning, to warm midday, to chilly again at night. It retails for $64.50 from Lucky Brand and comes in sizes up to 2XL (50 inch chest measurement).

Autumn Art Walk
Harvey recently spent a day at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao in this fantastic outfit combining a sheer watercolor shirt, chocolate zip-up wool blend jacket from Zara, olive drab drawstring chino pants tucked into black Gucci combat boots, his signature sunglasses, and a black wool beret.
Achieving Visual Balance
This is such a great study of how thoughtful styling can take casual, comfy pieces and elevate them into something that looks ultra-cool and put together in a way the pieces might not on their own. This outfit achieves balance in three key ways:
Color: The thoughtful combination of soft late autumnal colors reflect and complement one another. The greens of the shirt tie into the green of the pants, and the black beret and black boots join with the hints of black in the shirt and the drawstring of the pants to create a throughline in the outfit's color scheme. The brown jacket contrasts to all without fighting with or overpowering. Rather, it makes the greens in the shirt really pop, and remains in harmony with the more muted green of the pants.
Texture: The thicker jacket material contrasts sharply with the thinner, less structured sheer material of the shirt in a way that's pleasing to the eye. The more structured wool material of the hat and the solidity of the leather boots balance out the softer texture of the pants, not so much dressing them up as edging them up.
Silhouette: The blockier, broad-shouldered shape of the jacket is contrasted by the tapered line of the tucked-in pants, creating a nicely balanced overall silhouette.
Balance vs. Symmetry
Some people think balance always means creating a reflection across a vertical or horizontal line: make the silhouette a square, rectangle, oval, or an hourglass. But that isn't balance, it's symmetry, and the two are not the same.
Organic life tends not to be perfectly symmetrical, and there have long been fashion trends that intentionally sought to disrupt the appearance of too much symmetry in favor of creating a visual effect that feels more lively and authentic.
Think one razored eyebrow, split-dyed hair, color blocking, or the many fashion trends that seek to create the appearance of super long legs, super short torsos, or silhouettes that resemble triangles rather than squares or hourglasses. If you find your outfits feeling boring, try to create balance, not symmetry!
Even the combination of mass market and designer items in one outfit speaks to the theme of balance, as does the inclusion of older pieces we've seen on Harvey many times with a brand-new jacket from his recent travels.
Affordable Options
The Zara jacket is pricey at $250, but Macy's has a similar one on sale for $49.99 that comes in sizes up to 2XL (50-inch chest). There's also this option from ASOS for $84.99, sizes up to 2XL (48-inch chest).
You can find wool or wool blend berets in a lot of stores this time of year (I highly recommend checking ThredUp!), but I like this one from Nordstrom for $29.99.
These loose tech cargo pants from Old Navy come in sizes up to 4XL (54-inch waist) and retail for $49.99 (currently on sale for 50% off!).
I have a whole post on lace-up combat boots! But these Madden Girl lace-up combat boots are currently on sale for $34.50 and come in sizes up to 11M.
I think I'm gonna do a whole separate post on mesh tops, because Harvey wears a lot of them, they're gorgeous, and it's hard to find nice ones for plus sizes that don't make you want to claw your skin off. I'm also still working on a sunglasses post, so stay tuned for that!

Breezy Brunch Jacket
Harvey is having a great time in San Sebastián! And this colorful striped zip-up tapestry jacket is the perfect cozy layer for a chilly, breezy brunch.
Affordable Options
I couldn't find the exact jacket Harvey wears here (yet), but this zip-up multicolor striped tapestry jacket from Zara is a close match, and is available at Mercari, Poshmark, and eBay for $55 in size XL.

THAT IS SO NICE TO HEAR! Guillermo is such a fun lil guy and I LOVE his character journey. And he's so fun to cosplay!
I hope you have a blast! Hmu on my main @darkshrimpemotions if you wanna yell about the show!

Costume Spotlight: Guillermo's Sweaters in Season 2
At long last, I'm returning to the sweater pile to do a deep dive on our favorite knit-clad vampire slayer, Guillermo de la Cruz. In season one, Guillermo wore sixteen different sweaters across the season's ten episodes. In my first post I did an overview of the different types of knits and some of the little character nods I noticed in the later episodes.
Guillermo wears fourteen different sweaters across season 2, with roughly half of those being new sweaters for the season--there's one I can't quite decide if it's a new sweater or the same one he wore in 1x02 to the city council meeting, but in different lighting. That being said, someone give me his thrifting skills (and storage skills)! This is also the season where he debuts his iconic slayer trench coat and stake bandolier, but I'll do a separate post on those.
Season two's sweaters are heavy on the Fair Isle knits and cardigans, with many appearances of a new fuzzy red striped cardigan that debuts in 2x01 (pictured above). I almost think of this as Guillermo's character development cardigan, because of when he wears it throughout the season:
2x01- Just before he slays his first vampire assassin of the season.
2x08 - When he tells Nandor about Celeste's offer and then leaves.
2x09 - Throughout the episode, where we see him taking a break for the first time and refusing to listen to Nadja trying to get him to end it early, when he finds a way out of the room of doors for himself, Nadja, and Colin Robinson, and when he comes up with a compromise to save Laszlo, Colin Robinson, and Nandor from the witches.
2x10 - At his mom's apartment when he's talking about why he left, and to the Theatre when he slays all the vampires and rescues Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja, and Colin Robinson.
He also debuts a fourth Coogi sweater in 2x01, this one a vertical striped pattern with dark navy and turquoise elements.
Yet another new addition to the sweater collection is this gorgeous brown and red Fair Isle v-neck pullover with a solid brown collar and cuffs. It's similar to a sweater he wears in season 1, but better fitted and with a nicer pattern.
Another noticeable new addition is this blue and gold Fair Isle v-neck from 2x06:
I want to see if there are more appearances of this one in later seasons, as it only appears in this one episode of season 2 as far as I can tell.
There's this geometric gray and black mosaic knit cardigan he wears in 2x07 to consider:
And of course, the iconic yellow cardigan and rainbow turtleneck combo from 2x08:
This sweater is such a departure from everything else he wears! So much brighter, while also being less dated. Most of Guillermo's sweaters (the fuzzy cardigan that screams 2013 aside) look like something from the 80s or 90s found in a vintage shop...or a grandparent's attic. This cardigan stands out as a very clearly modern take on a retro style (I'd say late 60s/early 70s), like something you'd get from ModCloth, and is a thinner material than most of his others as well.
Is he dressing to fit into his new household? Or is this the kind of thing Guillermo would rather wear, in an environment where he feels more comfortable and supported? We never see this sweater again, even as Guillermo gains more power and respect in Nandor's household, and we never see him wear anything like it again, either, so it's hard to say.
Lastly, there's this Intarsia knit cardigan in brown and green that appears for this hilarious brief moment in 2x10:
Season 1 Sweater Appearances
In addition to his new sweaters, Guillermo reprises several sweaters from season 1. His gray Fair Isle cardigan from 1x05 and 1x10:
This heavily textured Coogi cardigan from 1x06-1x08, as well as 1x10:
The first Coogi (or Coogi-esque) sweater from season 1, with the horizontal pattern and red accents:
The lovely bird-patterned Fair Isle from 1x02 that will continue to show up all the way through season 5, and even in a promo photo from season 6:
And this thing, which I still can't decide if it's a brand-new sweater in different lighting, or the sweater Guillermo wore to the city council meeting in 1x02:
I don't have a ton of information on knitting styles to include this time, a I covered a lot of that ground in the season 1 post, but I do think it's interesting that Guillermo in this season wears some more vivid colors (the addition of more reds for him this season is especially intriguing), better fitting sweaters, and higher quality ones. While of course this could simply be due to a bigger budget for the show's sophomore season, I also think it's part of an ongoing evolution of Guillermo's style over the course of the show.
As he gains more confidence, it begins to show in his wardrobe. He even unbuttons that top button on his shirt a few times this season! And as he comes into his own more and more as a powerful vampire slayer, I think his clothes echo that as well.
What's your favorite season 2 Guillermo sweater? And would you be interested in a chart showing all the appearances of each sweater over the course of the show? Or is that just me.

Sparkle & Comfort Con 'Fit
Harvey attended LA Comic Con along with Kristen Schaal on Saturday in a cozy-yet-glam hoodie and sweatpants set from Disney, originally released in 2021.
This set is made of a cotton-poly corduroy fabric and features gold threading all over for both pieces. Both pieces also have the gold Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary castle logo embroidered on the front of the garment.
The hoodie also has a drawstring at the neck, a pouch pocket, a gold Walt Disney World logo on the back. It originally retailed for $149.99.
The pants have an elastic waist and originally retailed for $129.99.
Both items are sold out and no longer available on the Disney store, and full sizing information is not available...but they can be found on sites like Poshmark and eBay for anywhere from $25 to $100.
Harvey paired the sweatsuit with his Adidas Forum Gore-Tex high top running shoes in black. This is also a discontinued style, but can be found on sites such as eBay for $90-$150.
The info and product photos I did find were courtesy of Disney Merchandise News.
All other photos are from Harvey's IG stories.

Harvey had a day out at Disney with his sister Amada over the weekend sporting this teal Haunted Mansion Gargoyle pullover from the Disney store.
The pullover is a cotton-poly blend with a nylon blend flocking in black, and retails for $54.99. It's currently sold out in all sizes except XS, but originally came in sizes up to 3X (56" chest measurement). I was able to find it available for resale in sizes up to XXL on ebay, but there the price hovers around $80-$85.
And because they're just too cute, I looked up the ears Amada is wearing. These are the Rapunzel ears, originally $34.99 from the Disney store. They're currently sold out, but can be found on ebay for $25-$30.

Disney Emmys After-Party 2024
Harvey attended Disney's Emmys afterparty in a third gorgeous Siriano ensemble featuring the lapel waistband trouser from the designer's Spring 2024 collection. (Thanks to @weakformemo for pointing this out!)
This is a reprise from the Critic's Choice Awards earlier this year, when Harvey paired the pants with a gorgeous cropped suit jacket that, like his outfit for the red carpet and awards show last night, also featured a large bow at the shoulder. Love that callback!
The lapel waistband trouser is designed to tease the look of a partially open fly, creating a slightly asymmetrical V shape. The folded over material is styled to mimic a lapel--thus the name--and is satin to contrast the matte material of the pant.
The open area created by this design is covered by a mesh inset with a wide satin waistband. The final effect is pants that are both high waisted and low rise, that give the sophistication of a suit pant with just a cheeky suggestion of being a bit charmingly undone. These trousers are made to order for $1,700 a pair and come in sizes up to a US women's 30.
Harvey paired the trousers with a white button-up shirt with a black faux leather batwing collar from Unique Vintage. The shirt has gathered shoulders for a light puff effect and retails for between $54 and $60. It is currently sold out in plus sizes on Unique Vintage's site, but is still available up to size US women's 3XL (size 18-20) on RebelRebel.
What a weekend! And what a week. Harvey served us not one but three gorgeous, glamourous, bat-themed outfits over the past few days. Custom embroidery, big bows, dramatic trains, and frickin' bats...this is such a perfect example of why, of all celebrities and even all plus sized celebrities, his is the fashion journey that I can't look away from.

Emmy's Night 2024 - Glamour & Drama
Okay. Now that I've stopped screaming! Harvey graced the red carpet for Emmys Night 2024 in this gorgeous suit with a custom corset jacket by Christian Siriano.
The ensemble has echoes of his black-and-white look from the Vanity Fair Emmy's pre-party yesterday, with similar sheer details and coloring. This version ups the glamour, however, with the billowing silhouette and switch out of a black top layer rather than pale gray. It also echoes several of his past red carpet collaborations with Siriano, which often feature sheer details and coattails that extend to the point of no longer being tails but trains. It's fast becoming a classic mainstay silhouette in Harvey's formalwear repertoire.
The suit features a sleeveless tuxedo shirt tucked into black wide-leg trousers paired with an unconventional suit jacket. The jacket is made of a sheer mesh crinoline, according to Siriano, and has a large shoulder bow, wide satin peaked lapel, flared floor-length train that billows with movement, and visible black boning in the corset-style waist. The sheer jacket sleeves show off Harvey's arms, and his hair and makeup (done by Connie Agawin and Kat Bardot, respectively) are subtle glamour that balances beautifully with the drama of this suit.

FX + Vanity Fair Party
Last night Harvey attended a party hosted by FX and Vanity Fair with castmates Kayvan Novak, Mark Proksch, and Matt Berry as well as series showrunner Paul Simms.
He wore a gorgeous black and white ensemble featuring a sheer black corset by Christian Siriano and a sheer white coat by Dior. Both pieces have shown up in Harvey's red carpet style in the past, and the Dior coat has been featured in photoshoots as well.
He and Kayvan matched in contrast to their castmates and Simms, with Kayvan notably reprising his "dreamy" button-up featuring a butterfly design. Butterflies are a recurring motif in Harvey's fashion, so it's lovely to see Kayvan use it in their outfit coordination (which itself has been a recurring theme for them this summer).
Harvey's hair was done by long-time friend and collaborator Connie Agawin, while his makeup was the work of artist and producer Kat Bardot of Story Mill Entertainment, who has previously worked extensively with director Mike Flanagan and actor and producer Kate Siegel, both of whom Harvey also recently worked with on Life of Chuck and Damned If You Do, respectively.
I have to note that Harvey's eyelashes really stand out here (due to the application of just 3 individual false lashes on the outer corner of each eye, according to Bardot). The effect is a lovely tie-in to the first poster for season 6 of What We Do In The Shadows, in which Guillermo appears to be both wide-eyed ingenue and Dr. Frankenstein's assistant.
I also enjoy the choice of another voluminous bow over a traditional tie, the untucked white shirt beneath the corset, and the choice of a wide-leg suit trouser with a black-on-black satin stripe down the outside of the pant leg. The look is finished with a pair of patent leather dress shoes.
These little details--the careful color selection, the contrasts in texture, the use of unexpected silhouettes--always make Harvey's looks stand out as fresh and unique, even when the individual elements are familiar.
As Kat Bardot noted in her Instagram story, his taste in fashion is truly unmatched.
Photos from Harvey's Instagram.
I think this is a rare formal/semi-formal look that I can recreate with affordable options! Would anyone be interested in that info?

It's Frickin' Bats!
Last night Harvey wore another custom embroidered suit to SAG-AFTRA's Emmy Nominees Night. This time, instead of florals, the suit featured blue bats in flight across the front, crescent moons down the sides on the sleeves and pant legs, and a very special back design which incorporates images of his fellow What We Do In The Shadows cast members.
The back features Laszlo, Nandor, and Nadja hanging upside down from a tree branch as bats (as seen in the show's season 1 promo images), and a portrait of Colin Robinson mid-feed, his eyes glowing blue.
The Guide is also included, with her season 5 portrait framed by bat wings located toward the bottom on the front of the suit's torso.
The suit also features blue piping along the bedazzled lapels, matching bedazzled pocket flaps on the jacket, and additional sparkle outlining the embroidery.
(I'm still waiting for additional details on the designer of this suit, and will reblog with those as they become available.)
This is a gorgeous on-theme suit to celebrate the show as it heads into its final season. If this is Harvey's look for nominees night, I can't wait to see what he wears to the awards show itself!
