Please listen carefully Please listen carefully I need you to read this
Tumblr media
My name is Ahmad Al-Ashi, a 24-year-old young man from Gaza.
For years, I have been the sole provider for my family. I live with my mother, who is 68 years old and suffers from chronic illnesses that weigh heavily on both of us. Her condition requires daily care and constant medication, but we can barely afford enough food to survive, let alone the expensive medicines she desperately needs.
My own health is not much better. I suffer from liver disease, and my liver enzyme levels are extremely high, leaving me in constant pain every single day. This illness prevents me from working consistently, and sometimes I even struggle to help my mother with the simplest tasks.
Tumblr media
As for our living conditions,we reside in a tent—if it can even be called that. It provides no protection from the scorching heat of summer or the freezing cold of winter. The severe inflation in Gaza has made even basic necessities unaffordable. Food has become a luxury, and medicine feels like an unattainable dream. Every day, we face a battle between hunger and illness, between hope and despair.
Despite all of this, I continue to fight, standing as best I can for my mother and my family, searching for any glimmer of hope that can help us overcome this harsh ordeal. Our story is not just one of pain; it is a plea to anyone who can offer help, to anyone with a compassionate heart who can be the reason we survive this nightmare.
We are in desperate need of someone to extend a helping hand because our lives are on the brink of collapse.

🌟 A Plea from Gaza: Rola’s Story 🌟
Hello, my name is Rola, and I am a mother of two children living in the Gaza Strip. Our lives were once filled with love, laughter, and dreams for the future. But everything changed on October 7th, when the war shattered not only our home but our entire world.
That morning, my family and I were enjoying coffee together on the balcony. Out of nowhere, an explosion erupted, shaking our home violently. My husband and son ran for cover, falling over each other in panic, while I stood frozen, still holding my cup, unable to process the chaos around me. When I looked out the window, I saw that our neighbor’s house, once filled with life, had been reduced to rubble. Ambulances rushed to the scene as people scrambled to rescue the injured and pull bodies from the debris.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bombings didn’t stop. At night, the rain poured heavily, and the cold seeped into our bones. I stayed awake, covering my children to keep them warm and praying for their safety. But safety is an illusion here. Another explosion shattered the night, and our neighbors’ home was destroyed. Their children, who had been sleeping peacefully under a blanket, were found lifeless, their cover soaked in blood.
I looked at my children with tears in my eyes and thought, How can I protect you? We had to flee our home with nothing but the clothes on our backs. We left behind my children’s toys, their clothes, and their beautiful bedroom. Everything we had worked so hard to build is gone.
Tumblr media
Our Current Reality Now, we are displaced and living in a nightmare. Food is scarce, and prices are unimaginably high—$10 for a kilo of sugar! The fear of death hangs over us constantly. My children deserve a life of joy and hope, not one defined by fear and loss. Why can’t we live like everyone else—go to work, visit family, and watch our children play in safety? Why do our children have to grow up surrounded by death and destruction?
How You Can Help I am pleading for your kindness to help us rebuild our lives. We need your support to: 💔 Rebuild our home, so my children can feel safe again. 🌍 Evacuate from Gaza, seeking a future where my family can live with dignity. 🩺 Provide urgent medical care for my children, who need protection from this nightmare.
Even the smallest donation can make a difference. If you can’t donate, please share my story. Every share brings us closer to hope.
What Your Support Means Your kindness is not just about helping us survive; it’s about giving us a chance to dream again. To rebuild what we’ve lost and to ensure my children have a future filled with possibilities, not fear.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Your support means the world to us. Let’s work together to rebuild hope, one step at a time.
🌸 Please share our story and consider donating today. 🌸
Together, we can create a better tomorrow. 🌍❤️

The gentleman mask: Layton's darker side
So there's this great analysis by @working-dreamer about the way the professor has adopted his gentleman persona through grief and suppresses his own emotions very frequently, and you should definitely check that out before you read this.
Because it's hella true, and super well-explained! But I would like to add onto that further from here.
It's true that the gentleman persona is way of keeping his loved one's memory alive, but it has also gained another use over time.
It's a tool that gives Hershel control over others.
What do I mean by this? So glad you asked.
Okay, let's take this dialogue from unwound future. Layton wants to see the files about Claire's case but chelmey says he'd need really high clearance at first. This is the response:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did you catch that?
It's subtle, but Layton uses Chelmey's own ego against him in order to get him to do what he wants.
And it's not the only time he does this! For another example, when he needs the help pf the black ravens for his eventual plan, crow is hesitant at first until Layton says something along the lines of "ah I see, I thought the black ravens surely had more bravery than this but it seems I was mistaken" and then crow immediately has to prove him wrong, so he agrees.
And within the larger picture, both of these look pretty fucking bad. Manipulating a police officer into getting you classified information, tricking children into putting themselves into a dangerous situation for you?
We KNOW it's for the greater good, but if this was anyone but Layton we'd find it inexcusable.
AND THAT'S HOW HE GETS YOU. THAT is the same thing the characters are thinking. It's this kind, well-mannered, unintimidating gentleman clearly highly intelligent and with a good reputation, so people LET THEIR GUARD DOWN.
And that's ON PURPOSE. Layton KNOWS that his gentlemanly demeanor gets him what he wants, that's why he's always polite even to people who treat others like shit. Because treating them the same way won't get them to give him information. It won't make them trust him enough to grant him answers. IT WON'T HELP HIS INVESTIGATION.
Don paolo arguably picks up on this, even if flora doesn't believe him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The politeness isn't just a way for him to honor claire, it also serves the double purpose of giving him the opportunity to hold all the cards in hand while withholding crucial information from EVERYONE, until he himself thinks it's time to reveal them. The Layton fandom has long since known that there's always a bullshit twist that comes out of nowhere, but why does it come out of nowhere?
BECAUSE LAYTON REFUSES TO EXPLAIN HIMSELF TO OTHER PEOPLE.
They are asked to go along with something vague every time, because he doesn't trust anyone enough to handle that information besides himself.
Because what this is really about, is control.
Control over the situation, control over the outcome. Control that will let him prevent the same thing that happened to him to happen to others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is why it doesn't surprise me Dimitri thought Layton would agree that the ends justifiy the means, because that is already the attitude he conducts his investigation with for the most part. Hershel (or at least don paolo's approximation of what he would say) is being a partial hypocrite here.
To Layton, knowledge IS power. And he doesn't trust anyone else to wield that power justly, so he keeps his knowledge to himself. To give himself a shield, a trump card: an upper hand. His being ten steps ahead isn't just his affinity for solving mysteries, it's a DEFENSE MECHANISM. By seeing everything coming, he's keeping himself safe. He's keeping his loved ones safe and protected.
Tumblr media
That's why it's so NATURAL for him to basically lie to his daughter first instead of telling her he honestly worries for her, he genuinely thinks that lying to spare other people's feelings is a MERCY. He's helping them, he's protecting them from the truth.
He sees knowing the truth as a burden that is only his to bear until the crucial moment. MOST of why he doesn't tell anyone anything, is because he knows they'll freak out. And that would both hinder his investigation progress, but it would also hurt them BEFORE HE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
Tumblr media
He's emotionally isolated himself so thoroughly from everyone, and the worst thing is that NO ONE KNOWS. No one's aware these feelings even exist, because HE KEEPS THOSE FROM THEM TOO. He's protecting them not just from outside hurt, but also the hurt he knows his feelings might cause them. He's protecting them from HIMSELF.
And this is what makes the ending of unwound future hit so hard to me, because he finally fucking DROPS it. He doesn't care about protecting anyone from his feelings, or keeping an upper hand, or even LOGIC in that moment.
He just wants claire to STAY. And so he tells her how he truly, genuinely feels. And then he cries when she's gone. Because all of the control in the world couldn't have ever brought her back, and he's finally realizing that.
That is what I think him taking the hat off represents as well, the hat represents this gentleman persona he wields as a tool.
And even if future london is fake, clive wasn't wrong about one thing. People were in their right to fear that hat.
Layton would make for a terrifying villain.

Ok so like. I'm busy scouring those HD playthroughs for screencaps I can use for the Layton onion headlines right.
And I notice a detail I never noticed before until I looked at the HD version of this artwork.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hershel is supposed to look ANGRY here.
I never clocked it, (especially because this is a zoomed in version and the real shot is more distant) I just thought he was looking at the papers with a look of shock, a mindset of curiosity. The brim of his hat kinda obscures the look in his eyes.
But no, he's PISSED when he discovers any coverage about the accident is being suppressed. Like. Visibly pissed. Hershel Layton outwardly showing anger levels of fury.
This version of Hershel seems like he's definitely about to do something about it. And honestly it puts the assault that happened directly after into a whole new perspective for me.
Layton didn't JUST get his ass beat for inquiring, I think it's safe to say he was confrontational about it. For the first time he had let himself be in ages, he probably told someone what was what.
And then he is immediately bestowed with such a harrowing experience as his reward. Which might actually be the reason he avoids confrontation like the plague from then on more than anything else, because being direct almost cost him his life.
Yes it's also about being a gentleman and the social ettiquette of things, but it's probably motivated by a deeper fear of rubbing someone the wrong way and being repaid in pain.

writing badly and cringily is actually an essential part of the writing process, both in terms of individual projects and in gaining voice and confidence as a writer in the long term. there is no way around the cringe. there's no way around the work.

Okay I need some help.
I'm writing a huskerdusk fanfic based on my Hearts au.
Now in this au husk was in the USA airforce during ww2 in Europe and I'm trying to do research on what life was like for an American pilot fighting in Europe.
If someone could recommend some good sources that would be great.
