can i make a post about being irritated by antimaskers as a disabled person without annoying people trying to condescendingly explain accommodations for my disability to me! btw!
#like how poor is your reading comprehension that you don't understand that what i'm mad about is antimaskers' BAD FAITH invocation of#a disability that i have#like with these customer freaks i am making good faith attempts to accommodate them and they are rejecting those attempts and#refusing to work with me to identify and enact an accommodation#and instead just double down and harangue me for wearing a mask and keep insisting i take it off#which like. does not make me feel like these are good faith attempts to request accommodation#and are more likely antimasker customers trying to badger me into compromising my safety with like#a weaponized invocation of disability that if i'm being honest feels very flippant about the actual difficult lived reality of disabilty#so to be honest it feels VERY annoying to be condescended to by people on here lack reading comprehension and think that i#simply do not know enough about accommodations!#also to the person who brought up sign language in the replies it's actually a know language education and rights problem that#many Deaf/HOH don't know ASL or their contextual sign language and may not have access to opportunities to learn/practice/use it#so tbh i'm sure that person meant well but it did make me feel the exact same strangled rage#as when white people speak a bit of mandarin are like 'oh teehee i guess that makes me a better asian than you' like fuck OFF#at least no one has pulled a full how dare you say we piss on the poor yet but can people actually read things somewhat or at all#and not try to tumblrsplain hearing disabilities to me!!!!!!!#i'm soooooooo irate when i should be having pizza movie night with my beautiful girlfriend i think i'm gonna turn off reblogs on that post#the horrible temptation to reply really rudely then block#personal nonsense#eta: also to be clear the sign language issue is that even if i hadn't studied asl (i have)#it wouldn't actually be a silver bullet for communicating with people who rely on lip reading#so like......that just comes off very ignorant to act like i'm too stupid to think of that#or like it's a simple solution that people with hearing disabilities are just forgetting about

Just FYI:
Tumblr media
Parents need to be aware that no matter how safe you think your children’s environment might be, it’s better to be safe than sorry. They don’t need their names emblazoned on everything, especially when they’re already from a high-profile family, and their mother plasters their images on Instagram as often as possible despite their father choosing not to, in order to keep them safe.
I won’t post the photo in Liz’s Instagram story in order to mitigate the potential for harm that she’s already done to them, but this isn’t the first time she’s willingly jeopardized their safety for likes on social media, so I suppose it’s a moot point.
She told us herself:
“I am an eXtrAoRdiNAry mOthEr!”

how many times do we need to learn as people that irony and hyperbole can be harmful because 'jokes' aren't easily distinguished from genuine thoughts and feelings until we stop rewarding people for speaking or posting about violence
like even if you're joking/don't actually believe that/think whoever you are insulting is bad/immoral/fictional therefore deserves it - ad hominem attacks always do more harm to the people who share those characteristic then the individual you intend to cause harm to or discredit
#discourse#long post#its genuinely erased so much of my enjoyment of 911blr knowing i have to check accounts or risk seeing bullying/hate#l like its an odd feeling to know that so many people in the same fandom as you actively hold hate or find hate funny against your communit#like tired of people saying others are too sensitive because we dont want to hear or see a person say they want to hurt themself or others#like sorry i put in the work everyday to not let my mental health backslide and to enjoying being alive and accept my queerness#while others seemingly have not#and i know the content i post/share is not all in the same circles as that certain blog and i hate that it still grinds my gears but#its so frustrating to see the cruel glee people have#saying things they would never say to anyone's face irl and only to other blindly devoted/similar bullies#like do these people realise that they are on a razor's edge between 'ironic jokes' and just outright bigotry and threats - like do they#literally the only thing seperating That and conservative bigots is that the bigots are honest about their hatred towards minorities#like a lot of people in the fandom seemingly still need to deal with a lot of intenalised homophobia/racism and just outright hate-#especially regarding queer men and men of colour#because i can not be emphasise enough#It is NOT GOOD OR HEALTHY to be a fully grown adult that actively derives joy from the idea of enacting hate crimes#like you can hate tommy you can want him off the show even want him to die like weird but go off#but its such a next step to unprompted talk about [a character i dislike/hate/dont ship/disrupts my fanon endgame] in derogatory ways -#with rhetoric that straight up is out of terf/rel. right/homophobic/racists bigots and evokes violent hate-crimes......#well i feel sorry for those people cause what a miserable life to spend so much of it unable to enjoy your own life that you target others#anyways I know this is too long but I'm just a very tired man who has studied history and education and working with kids i have seen it -#too many times- harmful words coming from harmful environments or creating harmful actions and thereby perpetuating the cycle of violence#also not super relavent but as Latino Australian i am genuinely appauled at how many people have in their bio they are also Australian-#while actively liking/reblogging and engaging with post that find homophobic violence a funny haha joke - as if activist in our country -#aren't actively trying to dismantle homophobic and transphobic laws regarding issues like conversion therapy#like I know professors that actively got fired for being gay while teaching in religious education context - and its still happening!#so for people to forget so quickly what progress has been made and how much it took and how easy it is to loose - disappointing#(and its the same people who wanna pretend mardi gras is nothing but a party as if 78rs didn't risk their jobs/safety/lives)

public transit... *collapses to the floor*
#rich ppl have a disdain for it and it's so nonexistent in white suburbia but then you go to where rich people vacation.#public transit is so good at where they have vacation. free shuttles every 10 20 minutes. free! free!!!#I'm struggling to put the words together to make myself sound coherent but ultimately it's hypocrisy of the upper class#it's probably a bigger issue than just that really. obviously policy is not entirely dictated by individual and idk#it's just rahhh i wish public transit was like that everywhere! buses to go around towns! subways connecting towns! and cheap!! free even!!#there's also the issue of the loss of public spaces and loss of the concept of public in general#the other day there were kids screaming obscene stuff on the train for a whole 30 minutes. ppl were annoyed and everything#but one person's defense of their behavior on the train was dude you're taking public transit. and idk why that's. idk.#is a respectful peaceful transit also now a privilege only the rich can enjoy? only if you can afford a car and parking in the city?#the argument is that precisely because it's a public space that we all benefit from we have the duty to respect and protect it#because if the public space is uninhabitable then that's when inequality grows very apparent#you have to maintain it for the sake of everyone but especially those who might not want to or can't access the private#these kids themselves can't drive a car. if the public transit was hostile to them what other choice do they have for commute?#it's a failure of our society and education that we don't understand how important it is to protect the public spaces#by ridding of the public it's a fuck you to the children the elderly the poor the disabled or anyone caught in an unfortunate circumstance#twist your ankle accidentally? sucks for you. there are no benches here. to sit you must go buy a drink at a cafe.#car broke down? too bad. take an expensive uber to work because the public transit is broken down#having good public facilities is a safety net against drastic inequality and even then we don't have it done well enough#but societal issues take time to fix and I'd like to hope it's going in a better direction

Yom HaShoah (the Jewish/Israeli day of holocaust remembrance) is upon us. I was looking for interesting or informing posts to reblog, I mean there is always a lot to say about the rise of antisemitism or the violence Jewish communities keep facing nearly 80 years after the holocaust, and like... what's a better time than right now? It's literally the remembrance day for the holocaust, the most brutal act of hatred and violence and antisemitism in the modern times! A systematic mass murder, the destruction of centuries old communities!
The word "genocide" was invented after these atrocious and vile actions against human beings, actions that happened just 80 years ago. When you look at the vast history of the world, these crimes are so close to us, there are still holocaust survivors living with us today!
These are all facts, and yet people have doubted them for all of this time. Fuck, people continue to doubt them to this day! Doubts that keep growing and rising, doubts that grow into "alternative facts" which in turn grow to hatred and more antisemitism and more ignorance and more violence in a cycle I thought have stopped in 1945.
So when I was looking for more coherent posts that say exactly that - I found way too many antisemitic users spreading lies and hatred against my people, the Jewish people. I don't know what to say to that. I'm just sad and broken in more ways than I thought I would be today.
Antisemitism is here to stay, I guess. These voices are too loud, unafraid to be heard, roaming not just the internet but that's their base these days. These horrible posts will circle around, not just in the right wings but in the left as well, until someone decides to act on them and murder a Jew just because of their identity. It's 2023 and the past has taught us nothing.
I'm not naive anymore, I'm not hopeful. The world is a violent place, more than it used to be when I was a child. I'm scared, I truly am.
Never again, am I right?

I think one of the hardest things about working in food preparation and service is that if you try to take it easy and only give 50% effort, someone goes into anaphylactic shock in the lobby bc theyre extremely allergic to fish. Or youve given someone food poisoning bc you didnt change your glove after handling raw meat.

I was raised under that mentality and that was always said in my house. But this is so true, now that I'm seeing this. This IS how it goes!!!
So many kids DON'T GET to have the safety or comfort or ability to have any sort of necessary navigation or knowledge about any of this, when it saves lives and saves kids futures and just... can be so needed and necessary, for their safety, for other kids safety, and everyone's well-beings. This is very eye opening, because yeah! Man, if teens or kids don't have the safety or ability to ask at home, then there is no one else. There's their friends as a source (too young to really have anything figured out or give good counsel on such an adult topic themselves too, not wise), or other adults that are strangers and online. And it's got such a high risk of being from a predatory adult. They search for the opportunity to step in like that. Predators seek any influence they can get. And if kids are seeking a source of safety from anywhere?? So often that is immediately taken advantage of and abused. Because they are left vulnerable. And they don't know how to navigate all that yet, and shouldn't have to navigate that on their own. It's an adults responsibility to help kids learn and understand life in all aspects, or as much as we can, in appropriateness and SAFETY and respect for the child as a human being with autonomy and their own life and body, too. Where the child learns in safety of themselves, from whoever teaches or tells them about it.
Not to mention the scenario where there may be family at home willing to educate their children or others children about sexual matters or answer their questions in the times the child may start wondering and need to know to be safe, but... what if it's a situation where the adults in the home ARE weird predatory perverts? They will be misled and abused, then!! And wouldn't have an outside interference that can give different, healthy, normal knowledge, to even be validated in knowing what is or isn't healthy or safe or okay.
It makes sense, as an adult myself now, that kids should have access to all of their questions being answered or resources to be educated about all these matters, in a SAFE, REGULATED, APPROPRIATE manner, available to all kids. In a school, is smart. If not in a school, then make it mandatory at all hospitals when kids reach a certain age, let it be available! Something safe and regulated and available to ALL. So if that's done and conducted appropriately in schools, it's good. It's needed. A lot of kids don't and won't have access to that necessary help from anywhere else, without it being highly unsafe.

!! DONT SKIP !! donations urgently needed They are only at €5,561 out of €50,000 goal
I was contacted by Nader to draw pictures for and help spread his brother Abdulsalam Al-Anqar’s fundraiser to save their family. Nader is a 17 year old boy who lives in Gaza with his family: parents Ahmed (54) and mother Iman (49), brothers Abdulsalam (26), Mohammed (14), and Omar (21) and Abdulsalam’s wife and their one year old daughter Iman. Imagine it was your sibling, your friend, your son, who should be in school or with his friends, who instead has to hide from bombs and ask for help online to save his family. His family have suffered through one year of genocide. All of you are their hope to get to safety.
This fundraiser is vetted by @gazavetters, number four on the spreadsheet here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Abdulsalams daughter Iman is only one year old and has lived most her life in a war zone. She is suffering from malnutrition. It’s every fathers worst nightmare to see their child starve and not be able to feed her. Please help him feed his daughter and get her to safety. No child should grow up hearing the sound of bombs. Every child has the right to food and safety. You can help give Iman the childhood she should have, where she can sleep in a safe bed at night with a full stomach.
Tumblr media
Their father Ahmed has cancer and needs surgery and medication. It is not possible to get the treatment he needs in Gaza. every day his illness is left untreated, the cancer will continue to spread through his body, so he very urgently needs money for treatment and travel. If you help them get to their goal, you are saving their fathers life. Don’t let this family who have already lost so much lose their father, husband, and grandfather
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nader has showed me pictures of this explosion close to them, thankfully they were able to get away. Every day they stay in Gaza their lives are at risk from israeli bombs. Every day and hour counts. I know there are compassionate and kind people who are willing to help. every euro helps, YOUR donation will bring them one moment closer to safety. With love and hope I’m asking you to give what you can, I believe in the kind people of the world and I beg you to not let them die. If you can’t donate, please share so it may reach people who can.
Never forget that palestinians are not numbers on a list of deaths. Please think of each of them, think of their names and faces and know that you can help them. I think of them every day. I think of the hopes and dreams they should achieve, I think of their education, their future, and the love they show when they work hard every day to get help. You may feel powerless to stop this genocide, but you have the power to save Abdulsalam and his family. I dream that the day will come soon where they may use their days to rest and recover from what they’ve been through, where they can share a meal and laugh and the children will play, instead of having to use their time to beg the world to listen and help them. We can make this possible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
50 000 euros is a lot of money for one person to give, but for all of us together, it can be done. Please don’t look away.
