Doing some thinking on parts and people language and just. Honestly I hate that it's framed as dichotomy of one or the other. Some systems have members that prefer one over the other, some systems will use both interchangeably, some systems have a more complicated and/or nuanced relationship with parts and people language.
Me, though? I'm realizing I don't really view any singular alter in my system as either of them. It's why my preferred language of choice is *version* of me. A part implies I'm part of a greater whole, and while that felt true for me when I was more dissociated and thus only had access to specific emotions and memories and stuff, nowadays I'm so integrated I don't really feel like a part of Reimei anymore. I just... am Reimei.
On the other hand, I'm also not all of Reimei. If you only know Green, you're not getting the entire Reimei experience. I am Reimei, but I'm not the only Reimei, yknow?
And that's why I use version, which really encompasses how I feel about myself these days. Sometimes when you're talking to me, the version you're getting is argumentative and blunt and kawaii as fuck, and that's the version of me that calls himself Green. But sometimes you may get a different version of me: someone who's more of a know-it-all, or who's peppy, or who's obsessed with audio engineering, or whatever. And those are all as real as this "me" that's talking and typing.
I don't like part because it doesn't feel accurate for my current experiences anymore- but I also don't like person because I'm only one facet of the complex person that is Reimei. So I'm a version of me.

Here’s some positivity for schizospec systems with individualized headmates!
Not every system uses or benefits from parts language. Many systems, including many schizospec folks, view their members as distinct, individual people! Here’s to all the schizospec systems whose headmates are unique and separate beings!
🌈 Shoutout to systems whose headmates started out as hallucinations or who still are hallucinations, but function as people within their system!
☀️ Shoutout to schizospec systems whose headmates are trying to self-actualize or are making conscious choices to increase their individuality!
🌈 Shoutout to schizospec systems who work together with their headmates to function and take care of themselves!
☀️ Shoutout to headmates in schizospec systems who have embraced or are learning to live with their personhood!
🌈 Shoutout to questioning schizospec systems who wonder if their experiences make them plural!
☀️ Shoutout to schizospec systems whose headmates are delusions or whose delusions have impacted their system and individuality!
🌈 Shoutout to headmates in schizospec systems who prefer to be referred to as people!
☀️ Shoutout to schizospec systems who work together as a team and try to work through conflicts and differences together!
🌈 Shoutout to headmates in schizospec systems who have special jobs or roles that they fill for their system!
☀️ Shoutout to schizospec systems who refer to their headmates as friends, family, a guild, coalition, crew, or some other group of people!
There is no one right or wrong way to be a system, and this includes all systems of all sorts of origins and backgrounds. We’re wishing all schizospec systems the very best, and want you to know that it’s okay to view the members of your system as separate, distinct people! As long as you aren’t hurting yourself or others with your beliefs, it is perfectly fine to consider each headmate a unique, individual person.
We hope y’all can do your best to treat yourself and your system members with respect and kindness, today and every day! Know that your system will always be a beloved and integral part of the plural community just the way it is, and we are honored to be able to share this space with you all! Please don’t be afraid to be yourself and take up space in this community - we promise you belong here as long as you want to be here! Thanks so much for reading, and have a wonderful day!

I just want to remind people that it’s 2024 and we didn’t “go thru a pandemic” we are “going thru a pandemic” present tense. It is still happening. People are still get sick, still becoming disabled, and still dying. Covid hasn’t gone away and I beg people to not normalize getting sick with it.

i'll let phie-san say it:
#the vids i've seen on tiktok picking at her immediately get a block...#bitter otaku sitting in their socks in their mom's basement feeling threatened/enraged by a hot successful black woman outnerding them-core#also this kind of criticism is so demoralising and damaging to people who are trying to learn another language#also. accents are NORMAL and not a bad thing#i don't think that the end goal of picking up a new language necessarily has to be sounding native#and i know sometimes the way japanese people react like SUGOIII? *W* when a foreigner says like one (1) word in japanese is joked about#but like... genuinely... i always love when someone clearly has made an effort and took the time to learn some of the language#anyway she can step on those haters <3#also like. it’s just some lines in a song people need to relax…#megan thee stallion#autoplay warning#japan#japanese#language#mamushi

Funny things I found out playing with language setting in Netflix while looking episode 15:
Chilchuck's scream sounds HAUNTED in brazilian portuguese. Give it a try if you can.
(You can hear it here)
In spanish dub, Senshi says: "tocó mis senos de hombre", which means "he touched my man boobs" in Spanish. And I think that's the best dub line one so far.
#i love replaying certain scenes (usually screams) to see how they nailed it in other dubs#ive done it with Chilchuck & Mickbell screams because they're the funniest ones#give it a shot if you can#its really funny to hear certain character voices in other languages#for example. brazilian portuguesse gave both mickbell and chilchuck un-childlike voices (in japaneese both sound like little childs)#and they reused Chilchuck's japaneese screams for most of the other languages because he is so high-pitched and full of terror that it work#dungeon meshi#chilchuck#chilchuck tims#dunmeshi#delicious in dungeon#senshi#senshi of izganda#senshi dungeon meshi#idk how do you people screen record the episodes#if i knew how to i would put the shots here#my shit#thanks to the one that made the clip on Chil's scream im in love here <3

Studying linguistics is actually so wonderful because when you explain youth slang to older professors, instead of complaining about how "your generation can't speak right/ you're butchering the language" they light up and go “really? That’s so wonderful! What an innovative construction! Isn't language wonderful?"
#linguistics#gen z slang#english#as people in the reblog pointed out!#most gen z slang comes from (or was appropriated from) aave#honestly I was just excited to talk about how people in my field actually get excited about non standard uses of English#instead of ridiculing speakers#and I tagged incorrectly and didn’t point out the very real issues of language and power and appropriation inherent in modern slang#in that much of it was appropriated#and even that which experiences language change in the wider culture still originated in aave#aave is just as linguistically valid as any other English dialect because it is a proper language#and the grammar is incredible!!!#habitual be is fantastic and an excellent example of how a richer case system or a certain case can render an adverb unnecessary#and the phonology is just beautiful#anyway I’m very sorry#I fucked up

man I wish people understood how much it sucks ass to be neurodivergent and trying to find the middle ground where people like/tolerate you. like, I'm either "boring" (trying to wait my turn in conversations, holding space for other people, taking a back seat to let others get some spotlight) or "too much" (too loud/talking too much, getting excited to share, trying to participate in group conversations/activities). No one really talks about how much of being neurodivergent is just sort of trying to make yourself palatable.
I feel like so much of my life has been spent trying to find this effortless sort of middle ground everyone else seems to automatically already know, and I'm always swinging too far one way or the other. I'm lucky to have neurodivergent friends who grok me, but goddamn I wish that I could just like, exist without the constant background script in my brain that's like "you're being too loud. You're not talking enough. you're being self-centered. you're being boring. you're wrong, you're wrong, you're wrong." I feel like I'm back in high school trying to make friends but stuck as the eternal "weird kid"
it's just... lonely and sucks bad.
#I'm fine#just had a sort of blegh night with some people I'm playing dnd with#not a big deal but man the way I interact with neurodivergent people vs neurotypical people is like speaking two languages#except I'm only fluent in one of them and keep accidentally insulting people in the other#I'm just trying to make friends irl#flux's bullshuit#neurodivergent#autism#adhd#audhd#audhd things#audhd problems

>looking into the official English release of Japanese media
>fandom says the translation is horrible
>ask them if the translation is actually bad or if it was just localized
>they don't understand
>pull out illustrated diagram showing what is a bad translation and what is localization
>they laugh and say 'it's a bad translation'
>check it out anyway
>it's localized
#spitblaze says things#idk why im mad about this still lmao#WEIRD assumptions that a 1:1 literal translation would be better than a translation that people with a different language and culture will#yknow. understand#doin numbers

AuDHD is so funny sometimes like what do you mean my hyperfixations/special interests will last for years on end or possibly forever but they will cycle out every month or two with absolutely no transitional period or warning. like i will think about the same topic every day obsessively for 46 days in a row and on the 47th day with no visible cause adhd brain goes "ok! bored of that now" and autism brain goes "dw i got something queued up for ya" and i blast into full blown obsession on some other topic whose mental file folders haven't opened in 9 months. brain's out here treating hyperfixations like a crop rotation. once the dopamine runs out it cycles in another one but once something's in the rotation it never ever leaves. last summer we brought in one from when i was 11. it's so funny to me but frustrating too bc like. i cannot stress enough my inability to predict or control this. or how completely abrupt and random it can be
#actually adhd#actually autistic#audhd#aphelion.txt#ik 'adhd brain' vs 'autism brain' is a gross oversimplification especially given how much overlap there can be#but it at least helps me conceptualize wtf is going on in my head when i do this lol#and yeah i'm mostly referring to fandoms in this post but it can happen w more 'Traditional' special interests too#like my linguistics special interest which hasn't popped up in a couple years now but whenever it does#i will fill literal notebooks while studying 4 languages at once and simultaneously inventing a conlang#and then i'll be like Ok that was fun! and several months later im deleting like. 2gb of textbooks off my iphone to make room for an update#And sometimes yeah there is a precipitating event like 'Oh something new happened in X fandom with my blorbo!' but sometimes it's like#yeah. no. idk either. switch got flipped in my brain and X no longer sparks joy. only Y rn. how come it's Y? yeah idk i also wish i knew#i don't think any of this is actually an uncommon experience for people with these types of neurodivergencies it's just.#the severity of abruptness and TOTALITY of the switch that makes me feel like a weirdo sometimes lol#like I'M getting mental whiplash from this sometimes. idk how y'all are still following my blog

I want to post this here too because I’ve seen it happen a few times
Please understand that there are cultural differences and language differences, if you see this happening let the person clarify what they meant, that person might just not be familiar with words the western side of the internet use
#bearz rambling tag#no it’s not really possible to let everyone who uses this term to change#because as far as I know this is the most common word with use on Chinese websites#I didn’t know that pairing are called ‘ship’ here#like why would I even know that#‘ship’ makes zero sense to me#it took me a while to learn the fandom language people speak here#it’s hard#give people time#shipping culture is very different too#Like on Chinese site you HAVE to clarify the Top and the Bottom of this ship in the ship name#it is very very important to them#people who like the same ship but with different Top Bottom preference will fight till no end#imagine how confused I was when I first got here#where there’s no top bottom differences#it’s not really a smut thing#it’s more a dynamic thing#AxB and BxA is very different#oh I can talk so much about the differences on fandom cultures#if ya are interested in more please feel free to ask#it’s very interesting to me#I wanna talk about it
