COMIC REVIEW
So I've fallen into comic books again... God help me only find good runs in this modern area. Anyway this is gonna be long, because I literally never shut the fuck and there's no better place to throw my never-ending opinion then Tumblr, where no one can tell me to shut up. So without further ado let's talk about one of the many series I've just pulled on comic geeks...
Green Arrow (2023)
Long story short I love it... But why I love it so much isn't as short, despite me catching up in two days and now I gotta wait a whole twenty more until the next chapter. Anyway let's give some...
INFORMATION for me and the book
As of today [December 6th 2024] only [#18] issues of this ongoing run have been published, it was written by [Joshua Williamson] and art by [Sean Izaakse, Romulo Fajardo], this series follows the infamous character [Oliver Queen aka "Green Arrow"]. I started this series [December 5th 2024] and I've read up to [Issue #18], plus fun fact I was listening to [Rock] when writing this.
MY OPINION ON ISSUES 1-18
So really quickly, I'm going to tag the account that I heard of this from because I truly enjoyed it a great deal, [ @lesbianspeedy ] so hopefully if anyone engages with this, they'll check them out. Right away, I want to highlight the overwhelming love present in every book, which is heartwarming, and I now require every piece of the extended family, meaning anyone with a strong connection to the Arrow family (like Grant), to now come together for a big Thanksgiving. I don't think I have any negatives to mention regarding what I was reading aside from the fact that Joshua Williams was trying to write Ollie in a way similar to how they're currently portraying Spider-Man, and the dude couldn't even get a night of rest, but apart from that, I genuinely enjoyed reading through everything over the past two days; I really loved every interaction with the family and how Oliver regarded every child as his own, even his internal thoughts were to celebrate them as what keeps his shipwreck of a life intact. I also had affection for nearly every side character, whether it was simply their design or their personality, even those characters we encountered briefly, like the troublemaker, the bar-fighting Tamaranean who had an incredible design and made me swoon with my hand covering my mouth while I clutched my handkerchief. The final two parts of this little overview is to talk about how it ended, everything from Dinah already being aware of and accepting Ollie's foolishness with great optimism that it'll pan out entirely to how Oliver ultimately wanted it to, then earning the respect he deserves, also loved the choice to return to his origins as a protector for the community though it doesn't seem like batman was acting more as a hypocrite than as a companion to Ollie while labeling it as his manner of friendship, I simply believe this was unwarranted since it was finished and he is no one to judge on this type of matter.
MY OPINION ON SOME CHARACTERS
So naturally I won’t discuss every character, but I will highlight a few characters that I particularly enjoyed for their own reasons. Also, a quick note, the entire family was wonderful to me here, just so affectionate and incredibly funny, so I won’t mention any of them, but I will indicate that this book is undoubtedly a bisexual delight LMAO because Conor, Oliver, and Cissie had me on edge, especially Cissie. ANYWAY, the first of my three favorite supporting characters was Firestarter, who was mentioned in the Green Arrow Annual. I really enjoyed their various designs that were changed during the flashbacks, and I truly appreciate how he received so much recognition—this is something you don’t often see for many street-level villains. The other two characters from my three are actually the duo Peacemaker and Peacewrecker; even though they didn’t have much time on the panel, they were incredibly funny, and I have no idea why, but Peacewrecker just drew my attention—I’ve never been so attracted to such an odd-looking character so quickly lol.
ENDING & RATING
Ok this’ll be the conclusion of my musings that’ll be heard by only a few, I truly did enjoy this run for what’s available at the present and am excited to see what they will accomplish on the 26th. I rate everything I’ve read a 10/10 for now though I am fairly poor at number ratings. (Also maybe next time I'll talk about individual issues so I'm not leaving out good stuff like the Roy and Lian reunion but I figured since I'm the one behind no one needs to be told)
