I did a thing! It is a new kind of thing for me, utilizing all the stuff I've picked up over the years about audio and video mixing and voice acting. Whaddya think, poozers? Be honest (and constructive).

Sure, maybe it's broad daylight an' I'm directly in view a' one a' the guards, but my assassin has an advantage! I'm currently ten feet off the ground!
Flawless stealth!
What about ya', poozers? What's some a' yer favorite video game weirdness?

Heya poozers! It's that time again, time fer Kilowog's pick a' the week, where I give a non-spoiler review a' what I think wuz the best DC comic that came out this week! This week wuz like comparin' Bolovaxian apples with Vegan oranges, cuz each comic had its own wildly different strengths, but…
Tumblr media
Kilowog's Pick: "Power Girl" Vol. 3 #11 by Leah Williams, Adriana Melo, Romulo Fajardo Jr., Becca Carey, Jillian Grant, Brittany Holzherr, and Paul Kaminski.
I love great action sequences an' heavy drama, but if ya been followin' me fer a while ya' know I got a real soft spot fer sweet, happy, hopeful comics. An' that's what put Power Girl on top this week! Power Girl's got a date, an' she turns inta' an adorkable, neurodivergent mess.
She overprepares half a day in advance! She gets anxiety! She proceeds to infodump all over him about her special interests!
Throughout this run Leah Williams' greatest strength as a writer has been the interpersonal relationships, whether between Power Girl an' Omen, Power Girl an' Supergirl, Power Girl an' Crush, an' now Power Girl an' her date, an' this issue may be the pinnacle a' that super-skill!
Honestly this issue makes me look forward to Williams' upcoming Gotham City Sirens more 'n anythin' else.
What about ya', poozers? Read anythin' good this week? Lemme know about it!

Boy, I sure am glad we got such a robust an' diverse journalistic tradition in the USA!
An' fer those sayin', "But Kilowog, some a' those ain't exactly the same," when ya' click through ta' the article yeah they are.
Ground News (my current news aggregator) ain't got a single exception talkin' 'bout the differences in Harris 'n Biden's campaign. They're all exactly the same, probably either from the AP or a press release.
This is happenin' more an' more. "News" ain't so much news as just copied 'n pasted press releases. No journalism, no critical thought, no questions, just copied 'n pasted.

Depth Charge can steal the superpowers of the Doom Patrol an' underwater heroes, but can't get more than a paperweight after 20 years?
Sounds like it's time fer some workplace revolution!
What kinda crappy behavior do ya' think bosses in the DC universe do ta' employees? A $5 gift card ta' Big Belly Burger?

I've talked a lot 'bout suspension of disbelief an' why it's necessary ta' enjoy comics. We gotta be able ta' pretend a billionaire like Bruce Wayne can be good, we gotta believe that the cult of the hero actually works, and we gotta believe there can be good cops.
If there can't be good cops, then every superhero who works with the cops is a villain.
That's why GCPD: The Blue Wall shoulda been Black Label, an' outta continuity.
Don't get me wrong, it was a fascinatin' read. The GCPD gets the full ACAB treatment, includin' commissioner Montoya. It paints a bleak and, frankly, accurate view a' how the system breaks down cops who think they can do good.
I say all this cuz Batman: The Brave and the Bold started a direct sequel to GCPD: The Blue Wall. Someone's going after Montoya's friends. Now, their third victim is Montoya's AA sponsor, and that's awful, but the other two are cop friends and all I could think was -- good! After what we saw about them in The Blue Wall they deserve it! Gotham is safer with cops off the streets!
We're supposed to empathize with Montoya's struggle to bear up under all this stress while remaining sober, but quite frankly drunk Montoya was a much better person than The Blue Wall Montoya, so I just don't see why I should care.
You can't simultaneously paint an accurate view of the pigs an' expect us to sympathize with 'em as good guys. Either ya' let us suspend disbelief an' pretend pigs can be good guys, or ya' break that suspension an' make 'em villains. There ain't no other option, an' someone oughta tell that ta' DC.

Kelley Jones has some a' the most iconic art ta' ever grace DC comics. His Batman, stylized an' oddly colored with the highest ears on his cowl a' any artist, is iconic a' '90s DC. An' it's always a treat when she comes back fer a Brave an' the Bold story like this!
Whaddya' think, poozers, do ya' like Kelley's art? What are some other iconic comic artists who pushed a more surreal art style?
(Art sampled from "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" Vol. 2 #15 by Tim Seeley, Kelley Jones, Michelle Madsen, Rob Leigh, Ben Meares, James Reid, and Rob Levin. Edits: Altered and Additional Dialogue and Balloons.)

Let's get this outta the way first, poozers, Bernie Sanders ain't never been a leftist. Not as a politician at least, whatever youthful flirtations with socialism he mighta had. He wuz only ever a progressive capitalist, not even a social democrat much less a democratic socialist, at least not by traditional definitions.
But darned if he ain't always been pretty good at politics. Ya' gotta be, ta' be a constant independent in the Senate. He's leveraged his support carefully ta' get concessions, an' if his bills don't often get passed, his amendments frequently do. He's somethin' of a compromise king.
That wuz in the forefront recently. As Dems are talkin' about abandonin' Biden, Bernie, along with AOC an' some other progressives, have thrown him a lifeline. Support from the progressives in exchange fer him pushin' some a' Bernie's favorite policies.
It's a good strategy. WaPo's howlin' that it might help Biden get the nomination but it won't play in the Rust Belt, but that's only cuz WaPo is owned by Jeff Bezos. The fact is Bernie won a lotta rust belt states in the 2016 primaries, an' woulda made sure Clinton won it in the general if she hadn't explicitly rejected his campaign's help. The Rust Belt are workers, they want progressive, worker-friendly policies.
That's why Biden's comin' out with sudden progressive policies in the eleventh hour, like expandin' social security an' medicare, makin' the child tax credit permanent, raisin' the minimum wage, passin' the PRO Act, an' endin' medical debt.
Normally I'd think Biden wuz lyin' through his teeth, but while he'd lie ta' us in a heartbeat, I think Sanders might be too savvy a politician ta' let him get away with that.
Now, does that mean we can reform the system after all? Of course not. Nothin's changed on that front. Sanders ain't anti-capitalist, he'll never go far enough, we gotta organize outside the system ta' fix this country same as we always have.
But what Sanders 'n AOC 'n Co. might do is leverage Biden's desperate need fer allies inta' pushin' their own policies. An' while those policies won't fix nothin', they do mean Biden'll do less damage than he woulda done previously.
As someone who firmly believes liberal nations are easier ta' organize in than fascist nations, that's a good thing.
Whaddya think, poozers? Ya' think this attempt at a compromised political alliance could work? Ya' think this is a good strategy, at least within' the context of an election comin' up in November?

Joker's Knight Terrors, which has the Clown Prince of Crime trapped as a corporate drone after Batman's sudden demise, wuz one a' the better ones! The first panel here is the actual panel, an' I just needed ta' keep buildin' off that.
What kinda pranks do ya' think a suddenly socially-conscious Joker would pull on the union negotiating team? Lemme know, poozers!

I picked Jim-Bob Duggar here cuz Kilomin grew up in the same Christofascist cult he's part of. Believe me, poozers, however bad you thought he wuz from that awful TLC reality show he wuz in, he's much, much worse.
They made a documentary about the cult, "Shiny Happy People," which I recommend, but it really only scratches the surface a' how evil these theocratic monsters are.

Heya poozers! Today's the anniversary a' when Neil Armstrong an' Buzz Aldrin first set foot on the moon, markin' the first known humans ta' set foot on an extraterrestrial world! We know superheroes have been doin' that fer ages, but that's all top secret!
In a brilliant segue, don't let yer body get all dry an' dusty like the moon! Hydrate, take yer meds, an' most importantly be kind ta' yerself today!
What's yer favorite story a' humans travelin' ta' other worlds? Lemme hear all about it!

Last year's "Knight Terrors" plot was hit and miss for me, but Ivy's issues stood out as some of the best, mostly cuz she understands the hell a' suburban capitalism!

Ta' look at the liberal media, ya' might think Trump turned over a new leaf with his RNC speech, an' was a softer, gentler person after his supposed brush with death.
Don't ya' believe it fer a second. The level of horrible reportin' over this is astonishin'.
Amidst all the thankin' his fascist god fer his survival, Trump demonized immigrants an' asylum seekers, blamin' 'em fer every ill in the country with rhetoric akin ta' that demonizin' Jewish people in Mein Kampf. He celebrated the concentration camps a' his first term.
This ain't new, poozers. This is straight out a' Goebbles' nazi playbook. Say anythin' ya' think'll work, even if it's a lie, even if it's contradictory, so long as ya' keep the drumbeat a' yt nationalism boomin' throughout.
So Van Jones over at CNN might gush that Trump's speech reminds him a' Obama in 2008, but the rest of us know better. It reminded us a' Nuremberg.

Weird how almost everyone's problems got the same solution, ain't it?
An' remember, that solution starts with local organization!
