Some mild existential dread in the house today
#im just feeling reeeeally really drained#works taking a LOT out of me#like. it feels less intense day to day? or maybe im reacting less? but its still very much piling up#and im just feeling very...idk. like im still waiting for permission to live my life#except now the permission osnt coming from any one person its. having the money to docit#and the time and the energy#and i guess thats just what adult life is? waiting#and hoping#and along the way losing sight of what i even wanted in the first place because im so *tired*#idk. i definitely need a project of some kind but im struggling to settle on something and then organise it#i have stuff to do today anyway. alfie had a lil bit of emergency cash saved so i need to go shopping#and i need to tidy the kitchen and do some dishes#and have a bath and shave at some point#i also want to draw but again. struggling ti pick something and idk if ill have the executive function spare#AND i want to try and be more social and talk to folks but thats its own kind of difficult#part of me would like a disc server that just has all of my friends in it bc i find it easier to dip in and out of conversarions#but i imagine that would be weird for folks who dont know each other#idk. lot goin through my mind when all i really want is sleep#which also hasnt been...greeeeat lately#mainly because Alfie wakes me up in the mornings bc they dont like being alone but also have a very different sleep schedule to me#and can take multiple smaller naps over a day whereas i really need a solid 8 or so hours or i just. dont fully switch on#but theyre also struggling atm (mentally and also they got an injury at work AND seperately broke their foot ffs)#so they need me more and its just#this never ending cycle of SOMETHING needs my attention#and its fucking exhausting asfghfkd#but!!! we keep goin!!!!! been applying for a bunch of jobs and havent heard anything positive yet but. we keep tryin huh

Scrolling through your tumblr and saw that you’ve defended the homocide sys in the past, I thought you should see this and know they’re not a good person and haven’t changed one bit since your friends with them
https://www.tumblr.com/menacing-manicotti/765457317119524864
BTW: I AM Colby
As it stands, we’re not friends. I am sick to death of constant accusations, it has happened three times last month and this month alone, all three times I have had very clear context to what I was talking about.
Examples + more under the cut
(Ex: I was talking about Fortnite and how I couldn’t just pause mid Battle Royale, just light heartedly talking about how my friend wanted me to pause the game, I even sent a VIDEO of it. Cavalry accused me of talking about them, despite both me, Lucas and my sister all talking about Fortnite and losing our kill count because of the inability to pause online games, I was sending VIDEOS of me talking to my friend and telling her I couldn’t pause the game until the match was over and asking if she could just wait for me to finish or die before we went out anywhere.
Cavalry took this as me indirectly shit talking them and only backed off when someone else said “What does Fortnite have to do with you gang” (not exact words, I’m paraphrasing)
Ex 2: My sister and I were ranting about an ex friend IRL regarding the way she constantly carries on about her mother and how she’s generally just ungrateful to everyone, Cavalry once again accused us of talking about them, I offered to SHOW them the conversation we were talking about as I had screenshotted it since this friend was a notorious liar, they refused to see it and continued to accuse us of targeting them, despite me offering multiple times to show them the text messages we were ranting about.
After this, I blocked Cavalry, as these three situations are only from this year alone, they have done this SO many times over the years I’ve known them.
Eventually they apologised, I thanked them and unblocked them and that leads to—
Ex 3: This current situation, I said approximately two things regarding prosthetic arms, as my friend Kaiden, who HAS a prosthetic arm was talking about his and how it made some things awkward. I then went to sleep because it was almost 11 PM, at 12:31 AM Lucas replied to Ryder (Who has their own prosthetic also) and spoke about how his uncle had a prosthetic leg and how people could always tell and treated him differently because of it. Lucas is also a robotics engineer and frequently talks about this stuff anyway so it was nothing out of the ordinary.
My friends continued the conversation, when Kaiden woke up he related his own experience back to what Lucas shared about his uncle, screenshots of that were shared in the post you linked me. Keep in mind that by this point, I WAS STILL ASLEEP. It was 11 AM, I had said NOTHING on this topic besides “Most prosthetics are robotic” and then “They also have their own issues because of that”
However I woke up to Cavalry accusing me and my sister of targeting them, I told them I would screen record or even screen share all of my shit since they were so adamant I was talking bad about them behind their back (again despite having no part in this discussion) and I did, I screen recorded my disc DMs, Twitter DMs and TEXT messages to finally prove I have not once talked bad about them or shared their shit around to bad mouth because I’m sick of being accused of it, but by this point they’d blocked me and left the server.)
I have screenshots (and screen recordings) of the whole exchange starting YESTERDAY, showing that I sent two messages and then went to bed, yet my sister and I were still accused of talking shit about them. It seems like a minor occurrence but when it happens consistently over the years and you have to walk on eggshells regarding what you say when one certain friend is online, it builds up and becomes exhausting.
Each and every time I have been able to prove that I have not been nor have I spoken badly about them, however they couldn’t do the same as I’ve been shown multiple screenshots of them talking badly about me and I’m quite sick of it. I am tired of defending them and fixing their stupid online mistakes for them just to have them accuse me of shit that they’re doing over conversions I was not even INVOLVED in, they can fix this one on their own and as I said on disc, they are BLOCKED and will remain blocked until they can apologise and learn from their mistakes.

please please talk about pogtopia era c!discduo I would love to know what you think about their dynamic and why c!dream had this sudden shift and started being really cruel to c!tommy in exile or maybe you think he didn't shift. I just am collecting as many opinions for this as possible
Sorry for getting to this so late but let’s crack in lol.
Let’s start with this, I Definitely think that c!Dream’s behavior changed when it relates to Exile. Something I feel like a decent amount of people don’t note is that Dream and Tommy used to be pretty close friends. Plus he even left a letter explaining his motivations and such to Tommy during Pogtopia. Even left Tommy his weapon.
“I have trusted you with my most prized weapon which was used to kill you by Schlatt on the day before the election. Only fitting that it be used on him in retaliation.” This is part of Dream’s letter to Tommy. Here is another part where he recognizes that people saw himself as the villain and he wished to stay out of it.
“Last time I tried to take a stand on behalf of the Dream SMP, I was touted as the villain. This time, I can not involve myself. Schlatt is technically a democratically elected president and I can’t overthrow him. If you need my help, I am here but it must be from the shadows. I can’t be caught breaking the peace treaty even if the people I made it with are no longer involved.” This is definitely not the Dream we see after getting the Revive Book and cutting off everyone he cared about. This is not the Dream who has his guard up constantly. He has shown that he truly does want to stay out of it.
Now, the reason is that Dream wanted L'Manberg back was simply because of Schlatt threatening what power he held over the rest of the SMP.
I think Wilbur points this out another interesting piece pretty well. “Dream only gave you that gear, so that you could cause this conflict. You see?! That’s what this is all about! Dream- Dream doesn’t want us to win. Dream just wants both Pogtopia and Manburg to be weak! That’s it!” While I do agree that Dream wanted both Pogtopia and Manburg to be weak, I do believe that he would have preferred L’Manberg. He even states it in his letter that L’Manberg is not weapons or armor but just a group of people.
“Schlatt is ambitious and that’s a bad thing. He’s- He wants power, he wants land, he wants to expand… You guys, having your own little server where you just- You frolicked around in the flowers, that’s fine by me. I don’t care.” Dream clearly does care given that he had an entire war about it but Dream wants that more than he wants Schlatt trying to take more of his land. L’Manberg simply did its own thing and while Dream wasn’t Happy about it, it wasn’t his main concern.
Now we can move on to how he shifted. He threw away a Lot for the Revive Book, that much we all know. However, Dream was griefing builds with Puffy a long time before Tommy even touched George’s house. Plus even George Didn’t want Tommy exiled. Dream pushed and pushed for it. Dream even taunted Tommy within whispers to try and push Tommy into getting more angry.
“<Dream whispers to TommyInnit: :)>
<Dream whispers to TommyInnit: :)>
TOMMY:     Dream..? He’s taunting me. He’s sending me smiley faces. He’s being all…
DREAM:    No, no, I’m- I’m not… Oh, come on now. C’mon, Tommy…
TOMMY:     What’s a nice way to put this…? Um…Uh…. He’s being a huge bitch. And it’s just making me- I’m really-“
He even flat out denies it but he is clearly trying to rile Tommy up to make some more mistakes given that Tubbo was on the right path for a simple negotiation.
Tommy fucking loses it during this time which brings up to the Spirit debacle which then leads to Dream’s famous Spirit Speech. I won’t say that Tommy didn’t do anything wrong because he did. They were so close to a negotiation but Tommy really did just go a bit too far. However, Dream talks about how his only attachments left are Tommy’s Discs.
“DREAM:     I have an attachment to your discs.
TOMMY:     Why would you care- Why would you- Why would you-?! They are my discs! Why would you- Why do you even care about the-
DREAM:     No, nononono. Tommy, Tommy. They are my discs. I’ll get them, I will keep them, I’ll put them in my ender chest and I will keep them for the rest of the server.”
Which leads to Exile, blah blah blah. I’ll go on a rant about Exile later.
I won’t say that Dream isn’t an emotional person. In fact I think he Is a Very emotional character. However, I do think exile was a long thought at plan that was slowly put into action. It’s not just because Tommy was chaotic. All the things that Dream pinned on Tommy was things other people in the server has done. Plus we all know that Tommy is more of a follower than a leader. It’s quite obvious with Wilbur. But I think that once Dream got his hands on the Revive Book, something in him changed. I’m not entirely sure on that something since we don’t know his prospective. I think I’m going to end it here but let me know if you want to hear more or my thoughts on Exile.

put 5 songs u listen to and post it 😘 (you can send it along but that part is up to you) (I just like seeing what music my mutuals/followers listen too) ❤️❤️
Not even I can define my music taste. But in an attempt to sample it all, Im gonna hit you with 5 of my "songs I keep coming back to repeatedly" (in no particular order)
1. In The End in Classical Latin
youtube
I found this during the semester I took Latin 101 and it just stuck with me. I have nearly the entire song memorized, I love it. Knowing a song in classical latin is such a silly thing to have but I do and i listen to it on repeat for hours because of this (the_miracle_aligner has lots of covers of songs in weird ancient formats and i love so many of them. their original bardcore work is also amazing. Highly reccommend)
2. otherside - Lena Raine
youtube
this is my go to "calm down and relax" song. I first heard it by playing the minecraft disc on a server i had with friends at the time, and I would just put it on to listen to while fishing on my tiny island i'd claimed miles out in the ocean. It's got a lot of (good) emotions attached to it.
3. Never Good Enough - Citizen Soldier
youtube
CS is my go to "I am sad and I want to continue feeling sad/process sadness" artist. So many relatable/hit the point exactly depression/anxiety songs. Never Good enough and Would Anyone Care play a lot when I'm feeling down.
4. MLP fan Music
youtube
youtube
Im still such a sucker for all MLP fan music. Ive got playlists on playlists of the stuff. These are two of my favorites, but I genuinely love almost all of them. 10/10 the community is so talented and many artists are still banging out tracks about G4 to this day. Love em.
edit: ALSO i just found out PonyvilleFM is still streaming and having a constant radio broadcast of mlp music i can tune in to is so nice im so appreciative of everyone still working to keep this project alive fr fr
5. 1,2 oatmeal
youtube
1, 2, oatmeal

I get your point about the end being bad but I personally disagree. Theres different ways to look at it.
Also the ending doesn't nesscaraily have to be a positive for the main character, a lot of endings go tragic and thats the reality of situations, you go in there impulsively wanting to end your abuser and sometimes that doesn't go in your favour and thats what happened. A lot of cTommys decision was rushed which is why he chose to understand him rather than focus on hating him - one way lead to getting some sort of closure in the form of finding out one of the questiosn he had wanted to know forever. (he no longer would of been wondering why he was being targetted and constantly blaming himself, and why cdream was doing this, or what did ctommy do wrong, he had those questions answered) Since abuse victims can get closure when finding out why their abuser had done what they did, similar case with cTommy. And c!tommy chose to cope with his trauma in a different way- rather than resulting to violence and killing c!dream (also may be too similar to disc finale) or by leaving permanently, he chose understanding (even though he was still rushing), but that humane side to c!tommy fits him so well, and showed the best part but also most flawed part of his character. Even if narratively, its tragic.
I think that c!tommy by getting that closure did find a way to move on from that pain of what cdream did to him because not only did he defeat c!Dream and break him to a vunlerable state but he also had c!dream sympathizing with him and knowing that it wasnt just manipulation again. And the chance of c!dream hurting him if the nuke didnt go off would of been small based on how he was acting. I think that c!tommy getting that answer to majority of his questions had helped him a lot.
c!tommys character has always been one to sympathize with those that have hurt him the most, its his core trait and the ending showed how kind he is and considerate even when he shouldn't be. Its just who he is. But yes, i do agree that the part at the end where his last words was regret towards cdream was bad.- It was still in character for him. At least c!dream still died feeling betrayed, terrified and lonely. I still feel as tho despite c!tommy dying full of regret, he still died heroically as he was under the impression that the nuke only would kill the 3 of them not the whole server, he may of sorta sympathized and understood cdream in that moment, but he still succeeded in the goal he wanted to do to begin with and in that way won. The ending isnt perfect to me, but those are just my reasons for liking it.
Listen, you're fine to enjoy it. I don't mind. If you felt it worked it's cool and Im glad you were able to appreciate some of it. But I cannot see it as anything other than badly written, both for the choices made and in the execution of it. (Like how the limbo clip was chopping wood and how inelegantly Tommy had to manually swap to it, breaking immersion.)
Tommy choosing to try and understand Dream as a good end would work a lot better if he hadn't tried and failed to do it every time he interacted with Dream.
Remember how he thought Dream was his friend in exile and then post-exile had to struggle over whether he was his friend or not?
Remember the disc finale where Dream had defeated them and Tommy asked for answers and Dream explained his attachments theory?
Remember when Tommy visited Dream in the prison multiple times asking for answers on why Dream did what he did?
All this time Tommy spent trying to understand Dream and the answer was that there's no satisfying justification for why someone would cause another such suffering. Not all stories have a neat answer and that's why Tommy told Dream how he wasn't good for him and he needed to move on.
So then this ending pops up a year later and suggests that oh Tommy just needed to try to understand! That's not a good plot beat! He doesn't owe Dream any understanding and he didn't even do it naturally. He was killed and the powers that be forced him to see Dream's perspective against his will! Only to be revived and now he's found his answers bringing peace of mind. Tommy, the victim, just had to understand his abuser's perspective, that's all!
This trait of Tommy trying to understand those who hurt him is not a healthy trait so seeing it depicted like this feels wrong. It's not that all of this is out of character but it doesn't work for an ending arc where there should be closure. And again, a lot of it was forced on him.
And him getting closure feels meaningless anyway when it's followed by his death! And the death of everyone just to make the sacrifice extra senseless. Yes Tommy didn't think everyone would die but they did so its irrelevant. Tommy thinking he died heroically or whatever is him living a lie essentially.
And yeah, there's potential for it to be a tragic ending. But it was not framed as a tragic ending. It was framed optimistically and that matters.
Please know that I like Tommy as a writer generally and I'm very fond of his DSMP story. But this was not his best work. It doesn't fit with how I see Tommy or his story. That's probably partly because of how I've followed it for so long and so closely. I think there are many reasons this was not the gem I hoped for, like how it was written to lead into a second series and written after a long hiatus.
Still thank you for sharing your thoughts all the same. If those scenes struck a chord with you in a way they couldn't for me, then I'm glad. I like analysing stories in a sort of meta way. I like to think about the themes stories explore and how such ideas are executed and all that affects how I enjoy stories.

Yes I wrote this instead of going to bed and rest for my exam. Idk, I just saw that ask (or might’ve been the discord server...) that said vex and allay are the same species, just one is more like nesting and stuff and the other is more protector role, and that's why Scar and Cub are the exception. Plus the fact that vexes and allays are technically fae, so, fuck gender and pronouns, imma right?
Cub uses it/its pronouns and Scar uses fae/faer pronouns. Also, they're in a qpr, I've decided, you can't change my mind that Cub is Scar's safe person (also bc fuck anatonormativity)
--
As much as it loves its friend, it can’t live in this organized chaos fae often surrounds faerself in. It disheartens it every time it has to kick fae out of their shared space to have one ounce of organization. After it promised faer to take less than a day to clean up the mess (fae complains it’s not a mess, fae can find faer stuffs rather quickly in this so-called mess), its wings flutter a mile per second to keep it floating. They aren’t meant to do that, but drastic measures are needed in drastic situations.
It starts by sorting their items, getting rid of faer chests monsters before they could grow past their full potential. The motion of opening chests and closing them relaxes it, lulling it to a sense of false security. A chest for plants, a chest for wood, a chest for stone, a chest for bits and bobs, a chest for tools, a chest for ores, and a chest for building materials. All of them at a reachable distance. It knows how much fae loves faer building materials, and makes sure to label this chest with faer name on it.
Next, (while it finds embarrassing calling it that, fae insisted on the choice of word despite them not being mated) their nest needs some rearranging. It searches in the newly organized chest for nest material, soothing a part of itself buried deep in its subconscious.
Fae would always complain how it was amazing at building nests despite being faer job to be great at it. It would simply say fae could decorate the shared space and build stuff surrounding it. Fae often ended up building a whole garden surrounding their nest, finding joy in listening to a music disc and the calming sense of strategically placing dirt and plants.
It pats the nest to see if it passes the comfy test. To its satisfaction, it does, and it surveys the room to see if there’s anything else it needs to organize before fae terraforms and decorates their shared space.
It doesn’t have time to check as the door opens with a bang!, making it jump in surprise.
“You’ll never guess what I found!”
It turns to see its friend holding some dirt in faer hands. It raises an eyebrow, flying down to meet up with its friend, shoulder blades slowly releasing tension from the constant fluttering. Fae bounces on faer feet.
“An enderman gave me dirt! Who knew endermen liked allays.”
It smiles slightly. Fae approaches the pile of chests, stops in faer tracks at the signs and places the dirt in its corresponding chest.
“Oh!” Fae turns around to face it. “I may have stolen some shards of amethyst and diamond hoes too.”
It laughs. “Scar!”
“The last one I stole is broken!” Scar protests in faer defense. “I can’t find any mending books!”
“Not even in the nearest village?”
Scar takes a deep breath. “Cub, as much as I like to think I’m confident, going any further than 2 miles from the mansion scares me.”
Cub tries to stifle a laugh, but at Scar’s glare, it knows it failed, thus decides to burst out laughing. Scar pouts and crosses faer arms, which makes Cub cooing at faer little dramatic pout.
“I thought you liked going on adventures.”
“Only with you.”
Cub calms down and presses its face on top of Scar’s head, purring in forgiveness. Scar groans, but purrs in response, searching for its hand before placing faer palm against itself, the amethyst shard softly twinkling under faer magick.
They stay like that, switching to rest both of their heads on the other’s shoulder. Scar brings their lanced hands between them. Cub hears the sweet melody Scar often hums when fae’s alone or trying to fall asleep. It wants to hum the melody too, but it knows it will fail miserably and doesn’t feel like breaking this moment.
Scar brings their hand to faer face, scenting them and the shard, dimming the twinkling and ending their moment.
“Love the new set up, by the way,” fae murmurs. Cub hums in response.
“Made it spacious enough for you to add the final touch.”
Scar lets out a laugh and leans backwards to look at the room, hand still in Cub’s.
“D’you think you can do a sorta chandelier above us?”
Cub looks up and shrugs.
“I’ll have to make plans and check, but I think I can try.”
Scar smirks. “Good, ‘cause I have this idea in my mind and it involves that.”
Cub replicates that smirk. “Oh yeah?”
Scar proceeds to tell it about faer plan for their shared space, getting really excited at adding pops of color and at haggling with the students in the mansion and the villagers. It can’t help but also be excited when it sees that spark in those green eyes and animated hands.
“Well now I have to see if we can put a chandelier.”
Scar bounces on faer feet, rubbing the amethyst in one hand. “I’m so glad you’re embarking on my crazy ideas.”
“It’s not crazy as long as it’s possible,” Cub grins.
Scar grins, showing sharp teeth despite being an allay. “I like your thinking, my friend.”

C!tommy character headcanons!
Ohohoho fabro, you are fueling my hyperfixation… I’m so glad you asked about him >:)
Realistic Headcanon: I feel like this has been hinted towards in canon (although maybe that’s just me overspeculating, who knows) but I really love the idea of the clingy duo “head and heart” dynamic, with Tubbo being the head and Tommy being the heart. Tubbo tends to think the more rationally out of the two, trying to think what is best for them (think: Dream manipulated Tubbo into exiling Tommy by making him think it was the most logical thing to keep L’Manberg safe) while Tommy is more impulsive and follows his emotions rather than actually thinking through (ex: Tommy’s most valuable possessions are the things that have lots of sentimental value to him, he has displayed multiple times that he places his self worth in his relationship with others- first Wilbur, then Tubbo) and has been shown to be extremely loyal, sometimes even to the point of death, to those he cares about (which, side note, is why i totally believe in a hogwarts au, Tommy would be a Hufflepuff rather than a gryffindor). Both have their pros and cons, but you need both in a good relationship.
Hilarious Headcanon: As much as he acts like an angry, impulsive gremlin, Tommy is absolutely ✨soft✨ when it comes to his best friends (Tubbo and Ranboo). Don’t get me wrong, he still absolutely cusses up a storm and insults them when they’re together- because come on, it’s bench trio, they’re the literal embodiment of chaos- but he is absolutely wholesome with them when he thinks no one else is paying attention. Tubbo is pretty jacked and despite being considerably shorter will sometimes just pick Tommy up with no preamble and carry him places, and Tommy just is like “okay, so this is happening.” Also we know Tommy and Tubbo are very clingy emotionally but Tommy is also like. Physically clingy. He likes to be touching Tubbo whenever possible. It’s frequent to see them walking around the SMP together just casually holding hands (completely platonically) with Tommy shooting death glares to anyone who even looks at them wrong while Tubbo is just oblivious to it all and rambling about some topic (probably bees or nukes, knowing Tubbo). As for Ranboo, Tommy will never admit it but the allium Ranboo gave him as a gift when they first met made a huge impact on him and now Tommy loves flowers and him and Ranboo will frequently give each other flowers (not to get angsty on the funny headcanons but that’s part of the reason why Ranboo absolutely covered Tommy’s house with flowers after his death)
Angsty boi Headcanon: so we all know Dream’s whole “thing” with Tommy is that he brought love and attachment to the server, and the purpose of exile was to mold Tommy into the ideal attachment. That ultimately Tommy became Dream’s one attachment. We know that went both ways, that Tommy became so attached to Dream that he didn’t know how to live without him and became blind to his abuse. But what happened after he ran away? Sure, there was still lingering effects of his Stockholm syndrome with Dream, but eventually more of him realized the bad in Dream than the good. And for the headcanon, I think, after this happened, Tommy had to turn his attachments to something else. Tommy had become so used to being completely reliant on and submissive to Dream that now that he was independent again, he didn’t know what to do with himself. Even before Dream, he was pretty reliant on Wilbur to tell him what to do. I think Tommy was starting to realize that he had never truly been independent in his life, and now, for the first time he was being given that and couldn’t handle it. He had Techno for a little while, but Techno was never really a leader for Tommy. He treated him more like an equal than Wilbur or Dream ever did, and Tommy wasn’t used to that. I think that’s why he suddenly became so obsessed over the discs, even more so than before (telling Tubbo the discs were more valuable than him- although he immediately realized the mistake in that) and even hesitating when trading the disc for Tubbo’s life in the final disc war, although mostly he develops an attachment to Tubbo. It’s not like their friendship before- although I’m not saying their relationship was bad or unhealthy, I think Tommy was more desperate to cling onto Tubbo because he felt like without something to be attached to, he was nothing. This is why he told Tubbo he thought he was nothing without him, why he was so bitter about Ranboo “replacing him” as Tubbo’s best friend despite the fact that Tommy and Ranboo had been on really good terms through most of the smp (even during exile, when clingyduo was suffering). Why limbo was the worst thing he had ever experienced, enough to scare away any suicidal tendencies, because he was all alone apart from people who made him feel unsafe and miserable (mostly Wilbur, occasionally Schlatt). Tommy had always been dependent thanks to Wilbur’s need for authority but exile made him completely unable to function on his own.
Unrealistic Headcanon: okay this isn’t really original at all but it’s one a lot of the fandom seems to accept as canon, however I’ll categorize it as unrealistic seeing as it’s literally been addressed and debunked by the creators themselves (at least, if you asked Techno- Will clearly had other thoughts-) and that is, of course, sbi being a family. This one takes a lot of tweaking of canon due to the fact that Phil and Techno’s actions became very… questionable. But i mean, the pieces for it are definitely there. Wilbur canonically considered Tommy his brother anyway, even though they weren’t related, and Phil was actually quite a good friend and fatherly towards Tommy when he wasn’t blowing up L’Manberg (and.. he was the one to decorate the L’Manhole, so I like to think that was his way of apologizing- we know he doesn’t regret what he did but maybe he regrets the way he went about it and the friends he hurt). Even Techno, the biggest stretch out of the three, actually got really close to Tommy in that period between exile and Tommy betraying (“betraying”) him, and we can even see from his will that he never really stopped thinking about Tommy, and he had become one of the few people that he really cared about in his life, despite their clashing political and moral opinions. I usually like to go with the fandom favorite headcanon that Phil and Techno got preoccupied with Techno’s voices, maybe were leaving Will and Tommy alone a lot, Will was more of a parent to Tommy than Phil ever was, then Will got into a serious falling out with Phil and Techno and took off with Tommy to eventually create L’Manberg.
Hoo boy, that was… long. Like, way longer than I meant it to be. It was supposed to be like a few sentences but I ended up writing a mini essay for each one. Tell me I needed to rant about this to someone without telling me I needed to rant about this to someone 😂
I just love Dream smp character analysis, gosh I could talk about this all day

With respect to the tommy power thing, I think it's really interesting how it shows tommy doesn't really fit into a box like so many of the others. Even dream sapnap and George had their set powers when they were written into these aus. But tommy doesn't really have a defined skin. He's really only himself
And I think it's so interesting how that ties into c and cc
I mean, when you think of cc tommy, you think of red and white baseball tees and yelling and laughter. You think of his weird puppet and his scuffed apperantment and his blogs. You think of his random streams and millions of projects he's completed and his enthusiasm and his friends and minecraft. He isn't really known for any one thing in particular.
And when you think of cc tommy, you think of exile and how he was wilbur's right hand man, how dream feared him and how he has connections everywhere. You think of him winning and losing and being intertwined in just about anyone's stories. But throughout all of this, his character shifted and evolved the most out of anyone's.
Memory loss, insanity, control, anarchy, nukes. I bet you you can figure out who all of these words belong too, but the only word you can use for tommy is discs. Except it was never only about the discs, it was what the discs represented so a better word is loyalty.
But with the words I used earlier, they all either refer to one arc or can be used as a power. But loyalty doesn't span any one particular arc, nor doesn't call for a power.
In a way, tommy isn't any one thing, in any form. He is everything.
He's a jack of all trades and someone who just does things cause why not.
I used to be part of a pretty huge SBI server and something that was brought up a few times was how easy tommy was to write. How you didn't have to nail his mannerisms for him to read as quintessentially tommyinnit. There was one person who was a huge inniter said that anyone who said that didn't know how to write tommy but they're wrong.
Tommy as a person is incredibly creative and has never had a set way he does things. He isn't ever tied down to one thing and is successful everytime he tries to branch out and that was read off in fics well before he started branching out.
The assigned power of healing came around out of convenience, not out of tommy being known for first aid or anything else that would traditionally assign him as the healer. Ponk was usually the other assigned healer but there's some cannon reasons for that.
You made me think on this and looking back it really interesting all of this.
I speak as an ex-sbi writer too, it was really hard to make tommy be a particular thing cause nothing ever quite fit. I wrote some powered aus myself and figuring him out was hard.
Hopefully this made some sense I feel like it was all over the place. Honestly it was supposed to be quick thing about Tommy's powers and then I was gonna let my Ranboo haterism loose lmao
🌧️
i see i see !! awesome i think :0 i love the different fan interpretations regarding powers, i think it's one of the only things i like the most about superheroe AUs. kinda boring when they become the norm tho !
nothing else to say, solid analysis :0 love that thing about cTommy being a lot (specially loyalty) but i do think —and well these are just my thoughts on the matter from a few years back now— that's a bit of where the projection comes in, isn't it? believing this character holds multitudes when there's actually something you see of yourself in them and you build from that. idk, tho! i just think tommy is very solid and actually i wouldn't necesarily use the word loyalty, maybe more like resilence, but again i wouldn't really know
thank you for sharing your thoughts once again :]

HERE'S WHAT I JUST REALIZED ABOUT SCHOOL
If I'd had to wait a year for the next release, I would have shelved most of these merchants got, but we thought very carefully before we released software onto those servers. Till about 2002 you could safely misinterpret it as promising that clock speeds would double every 18 months. It would be very convenient if you could get to the point where everything could be done by bots, because then you'd have made the sufficiently smart compiler, but inside has people, using highly developed optimization tools to find and eliminate bottlenecks in users' programs.1 Intellectually, it is likely to be one-directional: support people who hear about bugs fill out some form that eventually gets passed on possibly via QA to programmers, who put it on their list of things to do.2 Overloading, for example.3 The least ambitious way of approaching the problem is to start from scratch; and the problem is before you can solve it. When my IBM Thinkpad's hard disk died soon after, it became my only laptop. And when my friend Trevor showed up at my house recently, he was kicked out of school for a year. In fact I think you ought to design for the best programmers have limitations. For PhD programs, the professors do. These turn out to be really useful.
I'm describing here is the future. If a server got wedged, we jumped; just thinking about it gives me a jolt of adrenaline, years later.4 This is not too high a price for big companies too. And not just because they'd be a lot of startups here. This will come as a surprise to many people is that we so rarely see analyses of this type. More can be stolen by things that seem completely unrelated, like social networking apps. We'll see.5
But this meant a Google was now setting Microsoft's agenda, and b Microsoft's agenda consisted of stuff they weren't good at.6 A cash cow can be a damned heavy monkey on your back.7 That's orders of magnitude better than desktop software. And so designing Web-based applications, these two kinds of stress get combined. In fact, what I like about this idea is all the more reason for startups to write Web-based applications, these two kinds of stress get combined.8 Fortunately, it can be written in unusual languages. We tried rewriting the software to work over the Web, became popular first within CS departments and research labs, and gradually spread to the rest of the world. They were designed to be a large tumor. Web as closely as anyone, and I can't see them facing that. Software is particularly suitable for price discrimination, which means charging each customer as much as possible. I already have a lot of work.
Notes
It doesn't end every semester like classes do. They overshot the available RAM somewhat, causing much inconvenient disk swapping, but suburbs are so different from technology companies. But which of them.
Everyone's taught about it. Steve in the beginning. Simpler just to load a problem so far the only way to pressure them to get the bugs out of their due diligence for an investor they already know; but it is still possible, to a degree in design is any better than Jessica.
339-351. Corollary: Avoid starting a startup or going to work not just something the telephone, the group of people starting normal companies too. Indeed, that's the situation you find known boring ideas intolerable.
A scientist isn't committed to believing anything in particular. But that being so, why is New York. 65 million. We may never do that.
The hard part of creating an agreement from scratch today would say that I'm clueless or even 1000x an average programmer's salary. Quoted in: Life seemed so much the better, and would probably only improve filtering rates early on when you see people breaking off to both left and right. Could you endure studying literary theory, or liars.
See, we love big juicy lumbar disc herniations, but historical abuses are easier for us! And yet there are few who can say I need to offer especially large rewards to get good grades in them.
High school isn't evil; it's roughly correct for startups to be their personal IT consultants, building anything they could attribute to the code you write has a power law dropoff, but also seem to have them soon. Travel has the same way a bibilical literalist is committed to is following the evidence wherever it leads. But it's a bad idea the way up.
If you want to change.

hope its okay to share my opinion on finale too all good if not. I really liked it for the most part, its just I think there were points where it made c!tommys need to target c!dream come out of nowhere when c!dream should know why c!tommy would attack him giving the chase seen after prison break, and the talk he had with c!tommy after doomsday about how their story would never be over. It was a surprise to me seeing c!dream so shocked to see c!tommy there after what he put into c!tommys head and I say that as a c!dream and c!tommy apologist. Another thing was c!dream talks about how they could have been friends and how there was destruction but there were moments in the past where c!tommy saw c!dream as a friend but c!dream referred to that as business, and there were moments were c!dream caused destruction and chaos before c!tommy had. I can understand why the ccs wouldn't remember every single detail of the dsmp though and since lore wise c!dream went through a year of being tortured, his memory probably isn't the best and he focuses more on the big picture than little things like Im mentioning. I've watched the finale in full many times now, I still don't understand the reset plan that c!staged duo had but Ig the point was that they didn't get it either. They wanted to kill everyone and revive but also didn't want to disrupt the balance but it was different to what they said in the stream before it, I feel like c!tommy was too sympathetic because in response to pitying c!dream, c!dream tells him he deserved torture which does frame it in an odd way to me even though it was in character.. that and exile being mocked. I love that the finale showed that violence wasn't the answer and didn't repeat things but sometimes it did feel very lobsided on who was sympathizing for who, and who was blamed the most when the intention was trying to write it as equal for both sides. The reset and nuke itself imo was fine because in s2, the characters were going to regain their memories eventually anyway but it sucks we never got to see that.
(/dsmp /rp) i unfortunately can't really give a good answer to this because honestly i'm still kinda looking into it myself, and i don't really consider myself the expert analyst on either character despite my love for both of them </3 so take this all with a grain of salt !!
my thoughts on why c!dream was so annoyed at c!tommy seeking him out to kill him likely was mainly because c!dream hadn't seeked c!tommy out for a while at that point, to be fair. i view what he said to c!tommy after doomsday as trying to intimidate him again. a lot of how c!dream behaves around c!tommy (especially after exile) is intimidation and exaggerating his "evilness", like him saying that he did doomsday because c!tommy is "fun" or a lot of staged disc finale like what he tells c!sam. so even though c!tommy has good reason to believe dream is intimidating him, a lot of it is just that: intimidation.
to me, the reason why c!dream does this is to keep c!tommy in line, because from what he's seen c!tommy continues to annoy him but less so when he's scared of him. and, like cc!dream said, to make. him believe that c!dream was his only friend and all. i think this goes into c!tommy saying he saw c!dream as a friend but c!dream didn't - i think this is just the truth; during exile c!dream was trying to get c!tommy to view him as a friend, but i highly doubt that c!dream viewed him as a friend, ykwim? when he says that they could have been friends, i think he's referring to EARLY early dream smp when tommy was going around causing problems. i think he views c!tommy joining as the root cause of all his problems on the server (and c!tommy views c!dream's Everything as the cause of all HIS problems. they both have a very negative view on each other, and this view is both founded at times and unfounded in others!!)
as for c!dream saying c!tommy "deserved" torture, i'm super interested by this line!! to me, c!dream isn't like, say, c!sam or c!quackity who i believe base the people they hurt on if they "deserve" it or not (like dream himself in the prison; the two both seemingly wholeheartedly believe he deserved what he got). for example, c!dream doesn't kill c!vikk and c!lazar because they "deserve" to die, he kills them because they're useful towards his goals.
on that note c!dream and "deserved" pain is very interesting to me - he tells c!sam he didn't deserve to be tortured, and that he hates him for letting him be tortured, but in basically the same conversation says he understands c!sam letting him be tortured, says he understood the risks when he got the revive book, and says he might have done the same thing in his position. bro literally rationalises his own torture to the person who let it happen </3 he also asks c!sam if c!quackity deserves torture and even threatens to torture him in an act of revenge (something he doesn't end up doing or even attempts to do for over HALF A YEAR, despite how much he clearly hates c!quackity). i think its entirely possible that part of him genuinely believes c!tommy deserved his treatment in exile, but it is important for me to say that i don't believe he treated him cruelly BECAUSE he believed c!tommy "deserved" it.
as for c!dream calling exile torture yet also minimising it, again this is SO interesting to me because in my opinion, i don't view exile as torture. it was awful and cruel, yes, but not torture, and c!dream, who was tortured for at least two months, calling it torture is veryyy interesting to me. torture is something that's terrible for anyone, no matter who it happens - it would be just as bad for c!dream to be tortured as c!sapnap, or c!quackity, or anyone, because torture is terrible for anyone. meanwhile, what happened in exile was a much more personal form of manipulation that was more specific to c!tommy. if, say, c!purpled was exiled and got the same treatment that c!tommy got in exile, i don't think he would be NEARLY as affected by it, because exile's events were more specific to c!tommy who views his loved ones in a much different way than c!purpled does.
this post isn't even me answering anything anymore this is just me dumping my own thoughts LMAO 😭 c!dream, canonically physically tortured, calling what he did to c!tommy torture is just so interesting to me. just shedding some light on how i view their dynamic and thought processes i suppose!!
(and as for c!dream's and c!punz's plans to reset the world i genuinely have no idea what the actual plan was there LMFAO. and also with basically everything i said above: it is somewhat important to note that c!dream had lowkey been high on copium for like. two years straight at that point 💀 bro has been in a mental spiral for a WHILE and c!punz, bless him for being the only one still loyal to him, is his number one enabler. a lot of what he says isn't going to make complete sense at times; a lot of what he says isn't what he completely believes, and he often threatens to do things he doesn't do. to me both he and c!tommy are really similar like that: they both say things and try to make themselves "bigger", at least somewhat as a defense mechanism.)

I should stop right? I shouldn't respond... and honestly I wouldn't, since technically I even conceded in my earlier response, but... some of the things you said, I now feel obligated to address soo, here we are.
Okay, so maybe minimizing or mitigating isn’t the right word, but how bout just not enabling. Why is the assumption that Dream killed himself repeatedly with Punz basically encouraging it? Based on what? A few lines they say to Clingy duo of all people? “It wasn’t my first time…” That’s more credible than the conversations we have between themselves when no one is around?
Regardless, after testing out every way you can die on Vik and Lazar why would they need to test it on themselves? That seems like an unnecessary risk (pre prison) especially when they both have full lives before the staged finale. Plus then how does Dream have two lives in the staged finale when the book is never proven that it can do that (and no I don’t think Dream calling Tommy out for not knowing that counts, he still didn’t answer the question.) What’s more probable, that the book can give back more than one life even when not shown again and not necessarily consistent, or that after Dream suffered months of torture likely worse than death that he is then willing to die/kill himself to further understand the Why of the server? How did they get to the point where no one gives a damn about torture, where his own friend is waiting outside to slit his throat in his sleep? Where did Tommy and Wilbur and Quackity, the people who ruined him, even come from and Why?
To me, Dream sounds scared of death in staged finale and in prison, raw fear and I feel like you don’t have that when you’ve already experienced death once or multiple times. Absolutely, I think it makes sense that he would test it before he decides to put himself in prison as a backup plan, but I don’t think that means he has to test it on himself. Again, that just seems unwise, for so many reasons. That's what Vik and Lazar are for. And I actually didn’t remember the moon runes thing or seeing Dream, but I believe you are referring to this clip of Schlatt in the Las Nevadas stream, and there it alludes to Dream coming to bring Tommy back where he sees the book. Schlatt does say some other things like Dream coming multiple times, but he also seems to me to confuse Mexican Dream and Dream [clip] (kinda like Ranboo which is interesting) so I’m not sure how reliable he is. I mean he talks about the book as if he wasn’t the one to give it to Dream in the first place, in addition to rambling about other nonsense so I’m not sure how much of what he says can be taken as pure fact or at least taken straight on.
Anyways, why was the staged finale really mainly for Punz? Because they said so in the genuine finale to Clingy duo as part of a villain esc monologue? Cuz here’s the thing a) Dream is smart, there can be more than one reason to plan something and that plan can expand. In the stream with just the two of them, where I’d argue is some of the most honest we get of them, Dream alludes to getting himself put in prison. Before he even ropes Punz in, before they even plan a fallout, from the sounds of it, Dream has already formed a plan to end up in prison, already formed some sort of plan for a doomsday and his arrests aka the disc finale [clip]. Dream didn’t seem to be doing a lot of consulting Punz on his opinion, the only piece of anything he tasked Punz with was his fallout which ended up being multi parted with him siding against Dream in doomsday. And like, people didn’t question things so much that they assumed Punz would betray Dream in the first place, so honestly would Punz have to actually go through with the finale for them to not go after him? Meh, probably not, maybe, who knows... The point is, it was smart. What they did was smart, but I see Punz gaining separation from Dream in the staged finale as a, no doubt highly important, additional piece not the main or original purpose, because it seems to me that Dream was planning a staged arrest with or without Punz, it just so happened to also be the conveniently perfect way for Punz to cut ties.
Hmm backdated?... Ah see now I know you haven’t seen my posts, I’ll try not to be offended lol. ;D But actually one of my recent lore discoveries is that Punz had worked with Dream as far back as the very first war. Had been The reason Dream ended up winning (well the first part before the cave anyways…)[post]. In which there are multiple instances of protective behavior from him working on Dream’s side (some I didn’t even cover). In fact, Punz is so connected to Dream at the beginning that at one point later in the disc wars they threaten Punz because they think Dream gave him the discs. So, Punz has definitely been on Dream’s side from the very beginning like they say in the lore stream where they are by themselves [clip]. But that doesn’t mean Dream owns Punz, Punz can certainly still be Dream’s genuine ally without taking his side all the time, I don't see why he can't be Dream's ally and friend and also take other contracts. Dream saying ‘become something more than employer and mercenary’ is a) Dream’s perception not necessarily the full truth, especially when everyone’s trying to kill him and he’s in the process of cutting off his attachments. He’s not about to admit how much he cares about Punz right before telling him that - hey everyone’s trying to kill me so I need you to keep your distance to stay safe. Staying more professional in that conversation is a necessity for Dream. And more than once in that stream Punz makes a point to highlight how they are friends [clip] [clip], with Dream not really giving a confirming response.
And of course, Dream isn’t going to tie friends with allies, certainly not after the Spirit speech or George's dethronement. He needs allies to survive, but friends are a liability, leverage, an attachment he cannot risk having. But the apathetic mercenary Punz insists over and over that they are friends, all the way till the very end, “I’m his friend, Tommy” [clip] with Dream still not validating it. And Dream dismissing it or saying he doesn’t care is spot on behavior we have of him. After all - He definitely doesn’t care about Techno, he definitely doesn't care about Spirit, he definitely doesn't care about George or Sapanap. Nope, he doesn’t care, he’s not sentimental, his allies are based solely on payment and favors…
Sooo… I guess my point is, very strictly speaking, according to the pure facts we know - I don’t see reasonable evidence that Punz enabled, actively assisted, or encouraged Dream’s self-destructive behavior. And in my opinion, (whether or not Punz would agree with me) there was nothing Punz could have done to prevent what happened, and purely existing/being there doesn’t constitute as enabling Dream in my mind. His existence, if anything, on a very basic level simply prevented Dream from dying earlier, without someone to watch his back.
There’s something compelling and tragic to me about how, while Punz’s loyalty to Dream is self-evident, it’s also true that Punz is never able to meet Dream at his own level and be the kind of ally Dream needs. Punz is the guy who supported the harebrained scheme that was staged finale; he was the piece of insurance that made Dream feel secure enough to go to his death, not just once but many times, not just literally but metaphorically. The revive book experiments weren’t possible without Punz, nor was Dream’s imprisonment. This ambiguity deepens in LN5, where Punz’s obvious personal investment in revenge on Dream’s behalf nearly turns deadly: it’s not the kind of intervention a deeply traumatized Dream needs, but it’s all Punz can offer (it’s all anyone offers).
Punz can’t admit that the Plan is a poison and a suicide, because he embodies that plan. There was no way out for Dream while he remains committed to their way forward as the only way. Punz can’t get Dream to leave the prison. All he can do is resurrect him inside.
this is why c!drunz slaps btw (and all that’s without even touching the professional ambiguity: the boundaries of their relationship and the vulnerabilities Dream won’t allow even when Punz has his life in his hands.)

c!Dream and the rules
(/dsmp /rp, all names refer to characters, not content creators)
I think one of the most striking parts of Exile is something that I rarely see talked about, and it’s Dream’s rules. Or rather, how his rules were made to be used as justification to hurt Tommy.
The thing about exile is that, outside of the initial rule of “Don’t go back to L’Manburg”, Dream never told Tommy the rules, yet constantly operated under the assumption that Tommy already knew them, and had accepted them. The rules also changed constantly, without Tommy ever being notified until he was already in trouble.
The second time Dream told Tommy to put his armor in the hole, he didn’t tell Tommy to do that right away. Instead, the conversation went like this (slightly edited to remove stammering and unrelated dialogue).
Dream: Do you have, uh… something you wanna put on the floor here? Tommy: Yes. (drops two pieces of red concrete as Dream digs a hole) Dre-eam! You’re evil. You’re evil. Dream: Anything else, Tommy? Tommy: Nope! Dream: Oh c’mon, I know there’s something else you wanna drop down here. Tommy: (panicking slightly) No, there… (messages BBH “take this and run”, throws him the disc BBH had gifted him earlier) Um… I don’t reckon there is! (pause) Dream: Okay, are you suuuure? Tommy: YES. Dream: Alright… How ‘bout your armor, Tommy? Tommy: Well, no, this is- I actually earned this myself. Dream: I know you did! Tommy: Leave me alone. Dream: Just drop it in the hole, Tommy. Tommy: Wh- no, NO, you can’t just come and demand things from me! I’ve been exiled, I’ve done your shit, what do you mean?! Dream: (sing-song) Tommy… Tommy: What? (Dream hits Tommy with his axe, taking over half his health) Tommy: (screams, drops his armor) OKAY OKAY OKAY OKAY OKAY OKAY OKAY!
The only rule Tommy was aware of at this time was that he wasn’t allowed to go back to L’Manburg. Dream had taken his armor the night before, but there was no indication that he expected Tommy to do this constantly. Taking his armor upon initially arriving at Logstedshire made some kind of sense, allowing Tommy to keep it would run the risk of him trying to fight his way back into L’Manburg. Taking his new, very shitty armor (seriously it was an iron chestplate and a pair of golden leggings he got from a ruined portal chest) made no sense at all, so the fact that Tommy was confused and refused to cooperate at first isn’t unexpected in the slightest.
And the thing is… Dream was aware of this fact. Throughout the conversation, he never really sounded annoyed, and was actively teasing Tommy at times. This isn’t a good thing btw, it’s a sign that he was fully aware that Tommy didn’t know what he wanted from him, and that that would create a situation where Dream could “put him in his place” as it were.
If you’re a parent, and your kid does something that’s not allowed, without knowing it’s not allowed, you don’t start off with a beating. You sit them down, calmly explain the rules to them and explain why those rules are there, then send them on their way with the knowledge that they shouldn't do it again.
This interaction wasn’t an instance of Tommy acting out and Dream correcting him. This interaction was a trap. Dream set Tommy up to fail by not telling him the rules beforehand, and when Tommy offered even the slightest bit of resistance and asked why he needed to drop his armor, Dream jumped straight to beating him. It’s a powerplay, plain and simple.
This is demonstrated again with the destruction of Logstedshire. Dream got pissed that Tommy disobeyed him by having hidden chests with gear under his house, and retaliated by destroying everything Tommy had built, destroying every item he’d collected, killing his pet and only foodsource, barring him from the Nether, banning everyone except himself from visiting, and telling him to start over from scratch after a whole lecture about how Tommy betrayed him.
Again, I wanna point out some specific lines from this lecture that illustrate my point very well.
Dream: You were lying to me! You were lying to me. Tommy: No- Why was I lying?! Dream: What do you mean, why were you lying?! Tommy: I wasn’t hi- I wasn’t- Dream: You hid things in a chest knowing they were things I wouldn’t want you to have! And you hid it in a way that way I would never find it!
Except Tommy didn’t know that. The contents of the stash were all items that Tommy had obtained previously without any issue (diamonds, emeralds, iron, ender pearls, some pickaxes, and some purely sentimental items like flowers, a jukebox, and pictures of Tubbo and L’Manburg). In fact, the vast majority of them came from Tommy’s aboveground storage, which Dream had full access to, and had looked through before!
Dream also never said Tommy wasn’t allowed to hide stuff, and there was nothing to suggest he didn’t want Tommy to keep secrets from him.
There’s been a theory floating around for a while that Dream knew about Tommy’s item stash beforehand, since it was a very strange place to dig a hole (like, right in front of the house in the center of Logstedshire itself, instead of out in the plains where the TNT wouldn’t damage any structures), and Tommy had previously forgotten to cover up the entrance ladder. While Dream hadn’t looked inside the house, he would’ve definitely heard Tommy place the block back.
If this theory is correct, then this was yet another trap. Dream knew Tommy had a hidden room, and instead of just saying “hey, I don’t want you to have a hidden stash, go put this back and fill in the room” (which would’ve still been bullshit btw), he went COMPLETELY ballistic, destroyed EVERYTHING Tommy had, and while doing it, kept admonishing Tommy for betraying him, said shit like “I thought we were friends”, and even accused him of preparing to attack Dream. Again, a powerplay.
Hell, even the exile conflict itself is this! Tommy was exiled for griefing the king’s property while being a high-ranking official in L’Manburg. Except Fundy, the then-president’s son, CONSTANTLY griefed Eret’s shit after the L’Manburg war, ranging from ripping down one of their towers to “shrink” it, filling another tower with water, and multiple elaborate plots to steal the throne from under their nose. But apparently, between all of that shit and the exile-conflict, the rules were silently changed, meaning Dream could exile Tommy for breaking a couple blocks and placing some rude signs in George’s house. Even the punishment itself was changed without warning, as Tommy went from being exiled from L’Manburg to exiled from “everywhere that’s ever been touched.”
...I was originally gonna make a different point here. I may put it in the reblogs, because I still think it’s very interesting. But, in the middle of writing this essay I had to stop because it was late, then I spent the entire next day packing up because I’m in the middle of a move. It's now the next evening, I'm sat in my new room, on my camping bed, I opened this doc because I pretty much forgot what I typed, I reread it, and then I realized… This isn’t an isolated series of events. This is a pattern for Dream.
Before Tommy first joined the server, there were only three set rules: no stealing, no griefing, and no killing people. Except by that point, those rules weren’t enforced at all. In fact, Dream broke all three at once at one point, by killing George and burning his diamond armor because he didn’t feel it was fair that George got to run around in full diamond when everyone else still had iron.
Tommy joined the server, and broke the rules like everyone else. He stole shit, broke shit, killed George for funsies… and he got exiled for it. Seriously, they dumped him in an empty snowfield for breaking rules that nobody had enforced for weeks. So technically, the Exile-arc isn’t even the first time something like this has happened to him!
During the events that would eventually spark the Disc War, Sapnap stole a bunch of Tommy’s items (including the only Netherite chestplate on the server at the time), and told him he’d only give the stuff back if Tommy helped him with a conflict he had with Ponk. Long story short, Dream tried to intervene and was killed by Tommy and Sapnap, and Dream stole Tommy’s discs to force him to apologize. He then kept the discs, and the Disc War followed. Sapnap, despite being the aggressor and arguably forcing Tommy to participate in the conflict, was never punished.
This proves not only that the rules can change whenever Dream feels like it, but that they’re arbitrarily enforced. Dream refuses to punish his friends for the same crimes he endlessly fucks over Tommy for.
L’Manburg was created in part because of the fact that the rules were unevenly enforced. Tommy, Wilbur, and later Tubbo were repeatedly killed, stolen from, imprisoned, and even held hostage for very minor crimes, while the people killing, imprisoning, kidnapping and stealing from them were able to do so without impunity.
This was also the point where Dream just started making up new rules; there was no rule against having governments on the server, or making a separate area where Dream’s rules wouldn’t apply, so Dream banned governments, and used this new rule as an excuse to kill them, take their items, and tear their land to shreds.
And that’s another thing: the punishments for breaking Dream’s rules are INCREDIBLY harsh.
Kill him non-canonically one time? Your most prized possessions will now be dangled over your head and used to hurt you for the next few months.
Make a country with different laws that doesn’t infringe on anyone’s territory, has no desire to expand, is explicitly pacifistic and open to trade negotiations? You’ll be forced to fight a war you’re in no way equipped to fight, you’ll be betrayed and murdered and have your land destroyed in front of your very eyes until you literally have no choice but to surrender.
Mildly vandalize the king’s house, which nobody else has ever been punished for? You’ll be dragged into court, exiled from your home, and subjected to weeks of abuse until you believe that all of your friends hate you and you actively want to kill yourself.
Hide some stuff in a secret chest? Your only shelter will be exploded, your pet/only food source will be killed, all your items will be destroyed, you’ll be banned from the Nether, and none of your friends will be allowed to come see you.
This is all such disproportionate retribution it’s ridiculous. It’s like punishing someone for speeding by blowing up their car with a ballistic missile.
So to sum up: Dream’s rules are arbitrarily enforced, and he can just straight up make them up on the spot if he feels like it. Sometimes, he won’t tell you a rule exists until you’ve already broken it, and you’re treated as if you broke it out of malice instead of genuine ignorance. And if you do break a rule, and he decides you have to be punished, it will always be a punishment so harsh it doesn’t even ATTEMPT to fit the crime.
I don’t know about you, but that sounds pretty fucking corrupt and tyrannical to me.
When people say Tommy deserved exile, or made Dream spiral into villainy, or abused Dream somehow (seriously I’ve seen this take multiple times and every time it makes my brain melt) by breaking the rules, I would invite them to take a step back and ask themselves, why did that rule exist? Did Tommy know it existed? Was it enforced for everyone other than him as well? Does the punishment fit the crime?
Dream has a bad habit of making up rules, or enforcing old ones that were never enforced before, to punish those who threaten his power. None of the Dream Team were ever punished for anything, despite committing the same crimes as the L’Manburgians. That is, until they founded Mexican L’Manburg (i.e. went against Dream’s rule), at which point they were attacked by Dream and George was dethroned for “not being neutral enough.”
Tommy should’ve faced consequences for what he did. But those consequences should’ve come naturally, and been carried out by the people he hurt. Like, if Dream hadn’t intervened, griefing George’s house would’ve resulted in George griefing Tommy back in revenge. In fact, he DID do that, by turning Tommy’s entire house into granite and putting the Jump In The Cadillac picture on his front lawn.
These are natural, proportionate consequences. Exile was none of that. The Disc War was none of that. Everything that happened to L’Manburg was none of that.
Dream’s rules and how he enforces them are inherently corrupt and tyrannical. To pretend it’s anything but is disingenuous at best.

In hindsight, the L'Manburg revolutionary war, or more specifically, its outcome, is kind of ridiculous.
From Punz's video we learn that Dream has always been willing to give L'Manburg technical independence [*never before seen* Dream SMP Revolution (behind the scenes) PART 1. 9:02].
In the end, the resolution will probably just be- essentially like 'we won but like- they're- like they can think whatever they want we're just gonna ignore them coz they're like morons. […] If you wanna think you're independent- like, you're not you're still part of the SMP but if you want to think you're independent, you can.
The situation he describes here is what the conditions of the duel ended up being. [Wilbur Soot, The Revolution is Coming. 40:54]
Dream: “Let me just clarify: if you win, we grant L’Manburg independence.” Tommy: “Alright.” Dream: “But we recognize it still as a part of the Dream Team SMP.” Wilbur: “That’s fine, that’s a fine condition.”
The discs had no influence on Dream's willingless to give L'Manburg independence, which means that when Tommy first offered the duel, and then both of his discs, it was a deal entirely in Dream's favor. He sacrificed nothing and got leverage over Tommy for free, which was very convenient for him. L'Manburgians, of course, weren't aware of what Dream told his friends, so to them, getting independence in a trade was a victory when the real victor was Dream all along.
In Dream's mind, L'Manburgians were free before the war and were arrogant fools for seeking independence (in his eyes, there were no limits put on them with him as the head of the server. They could build wherever they wanted). In the aftermath of the war, he did not consider Wilbur an equal even though that's how Wilbur wanted to be seen [Wilbur Soot, The Revolution is Coming. 51:16].
Wilbur: “Dream we may have had our differences but I think I can- I think I can learn to live side by side with you on this server […] Dream I will live amongst you as equals both rulers of our land.” Dream: “I will consider you a constituent of my land.” Wilbur: "Tommy, he can think what he wants, what's important is we have independence."
Both sides have this idea of "they can think what they want, it doesn't change the truth". For Dream, that truth was L'Manburg still being his subject and part of his server, for Wilbur, that truth was them being entirely independent.
The question is then: what was the point of it all? What was the point of L'Manburg's "technical independence"? What was the point of the war if it changed nothing?
I think for Dream, the point was making sure L'Manburg feared him and avoided entering into conflict with him after seeing just how powerful he was, as well as setting a precedent for any future communities that may want to secede. And he got leverage over Tommy as a bonus!
Wilbur, in his naivete, did not expect a war at all, wasn't prepared for it, and was glad to gain what he was seeking despite how badly him and his men have lost.
So from L'Manburg's POV they won and got what they wanted after much bloodshed. From Dream's POV, he lost nothing, got leverage over Tommy, and ensured the new country would avoid messing with him. And isn't the difference in how the two sides viewed the outcome of the war a little ridiculous?

Just The Two Of Us [C! Tommyinnit x GN! Reader]
FLUFF TO ANGST (PLATONIC)  WARNINGS: Mentions of suicide, suicidal thoughts, character death, cursing
Reader pronouns: They/them
A/N: Hi, this is my first DSMP fanfic so uhh I hope u enjoy lmao. There might be grammatical errors so pls do not mind it :D
ɴᴀᴠɪɢᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ∣ ᴍᴀꜱᴛᴇʀʟɪꜱᴛ
[Y/N] already lost count of all the pranks and chaos they made with Tommy. They didn't like causing havoc or pulling pranks on people but if Tommy asked them to tag along, they would. Tommy is their best friend after all. Plus, where's the fun in life without a little risk?
[Y/N] was just at their Cottage house, peacefully making the potions that Quackity ordered just hours ago. Since [Y/N] is a skilled witch, it was no shock when they owned a Potions business. Everyone in the SMP server knows about this and they usually come and buy their potions.
They were about to finish the last set of potions that Quackity ordered until they ran out of ingredients. "Dammit." [Y/N] muttered under their breath. They turned around and immediately went to find if they have any stock ingredients in their barrels or chests.
When they saw no stock ingredients, [Y/N] sighed and decided to do some last minute ingredients grinding. It was until they opened the door and saw Tommy standing in front of their house door.
[Y/N] knew that his presence is no good because that motherfucker is grinning ear to ear. They playfully groaned and asked, "What is it this time child?"
"Hey, I told you not to call me a child anymore!" Tommy suddenly protested, feeling insulted but went back to his sly grin and said, "Let's prank Skeppy and Bad."
"That's a horrible idea."
"Come on, bitch. It'll be fun."
And they did come with Tommy. A couple hours had passed and [Y/N] had already forgotten about the ingredients they were gonna get for Quackity's potions. Tommy said that Big Q's order can wait but the prank can't.
It wasn't long after Bad and Skeppy saw the two teenagers doing their little harmless prank on them.
[Y/N] caught sight of the two and immediately tugged on Tommy's shirt. "Fuck, Tommy we gotta go."
Tommy, unfazed and still focused on the prank, said, "Just a little longer."
[Y/N] nudged Tommy's side using her elbows as the two teenagers can now hear Skeppy and Bad's incoherent yelling drawing closer and closer to them.
"RUN!" [Y/N] yelled as they both left the things they used to try to prank BBH and Skeppy.
The two let out a laugh as they ran away. Tommy constantly turned his head back to see if Skeppy and Bad are still after them.
[Y/N] and Tommy continued to run even though Bad and Skeppy stopped coming after them. It wasn't until the two teenagers finally stopped running so that they could catch their breath.
"What now?" [Y/N] gasped, who is still out of breath from both running and laughing at the same time. They looked at Tommy.
Tommy grinned again and then grabbed their arm, "I have something pog to show you."
[Y/N] didn't question Tommy and just let him drag them to a mountain.
Once they have reached the destination, [Y/N] let out a 'wow'. The view is breathtaking and it is very peaceful. The mountain isn't that very far from the SMP but it looks like very few have come across this part.
"So, what do you think?" Tommy asked, looking at the view. The view consists of the calming ocean waves and a peaceful sunsetting with birds passing by.
[Y/N] turned to Tommy and smiled, "This could be our secret spot." They slowly walked towards the edge of the mountain cliff but were immediately stopped by Tommy.
"Oh, [Y/N] wait. Be careful, the edge of the cliff looks really faulty." Tommy warned.
[Y/N] immediately stepped back a little and took note of what Tommy said. But, they were still curious and looked down at the edge of the cliff, only to see the water from below.
If someone would fall from this cliff and took a heavy impact on the water, that person wouldn't survive due to how high the mountain cliff is.
[Y/N] then proposed, "You know, when things are stressful and stuff. We can just go here, sit in silence and look at the view as the wind or the waves takes away our problems for a while."
"Just the two of us." The blonde haired lad said and then they both stood in silence, admiring the view and beauty of the server.
Oh, if only you could turn back in time and relive this memory. If only things are still the same the way it was before.
It's been so long since [Y/N] had fun and peace. Probably so many months since Tommy first showed them their secret mountain hangout area.
[Y/N] currently stood still, gazing at the view that was once calm and peaceful but was now replaced with sounds of flying TNTs, fireworks and screams from the background.
They were in no state of mind as of the moment. They don't even know what to do anymore. A lot has changed ever since the wars, the exilation of Tommy.
[Y/N] sniffed, wiping their tears using their now mangy sleeves caused by the current chaotic event. They continued to stare at the ocean, a potion of poison glistening in their hands.
[Y/N] looked at the Potion of Poison that they were holding and pondered whether to drink it or not.
Maybe it's best to end it once and for all. They don't have anywhere to go anyways. They don't have any friends or family to turn back to since everyone is against them or thought badly of them now.
[Y/N] can't even go back to L’manberg as well since they're now a wanted criminal for breaking the laws and escaping from their house since they're supposed to be on house arrest for the crimes they didn't even do.
They opened the cork of the potion, but they didn't drink it yet. They let their mind wander for a while and process everything that has happened.
Maybe Dream was right. Maybe the people they loved never even cared for them at all. Maybe it was all just a lie. Maybe—
"[Y/N]." A familiar voice that they haven't heard in a while.
It was windy. The cool breeze of air touched their skins. But along with the wind, there are particles of TNT or fireworks dusts.
The [H/C] haired person turned around and saw their best friend for the first time in months.
"Tommy." [Y/N] replied. Their voice were hoarse and dry. "What are you- What are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same thing." Tommy glared at them.
[Y/N] quietly groaned, closed their eyes for a while and pinched their nose bridge, still holding the potion on their other hand. "So, you believe all that shit?"
"Enough for me to believe the fact you tried to murder Tubbo, burn my invites and team up with Dream."
Tommy added, "Maybe they were right about you. You're Dream's sibling after all."
[Y/N] scoffed and threw their available hand around the air, "He may be my sibling, but we are never alike."
"Why, [Y/N]? Why did you do it?" Tommy asked, hands gripping tighter on his sword. "Did Dream finally get into your head for you to commit these crimes? Or did you just do it because it's in your blood?"
"You don't know a thing that happened," [Y/N] harshly spit back, completely trying to avoid the topic of Dream. "Of course you don't. You were exiled."
Tommy never understood why. Why had they turned like this? He felt rage and betrayal. During his exiled time, Tommy thought that they were gonna be that one person who would try to find him. Comfort him or even send him secret coded messages. But no, he received nothing.
It hurts. Hurts like hell to know your best friend turned their back on everyone. A best friend that he has known for years. A part of him wants to believe they didn't do it but the proofs are enough for him to believe it was really them.
"Well, you really can't blame me can you? You can only blame yourself," [Y/N] said. "This all started because of you and your stupid discs. All you ever care about is the FUCKING DISCS. Wars started, lives were lost, relationships were destroyed, all just because of those discs."
They had never done this before. This was their first time just being angry and shouting at each other. Although this might be new to each other, it was obvious that they have been bottling up their emotions way too long.
"You know what?! Things would be so much better if only you didn't exist." Tommy instantly regretted what he said as soon as he saw a potion glisten from [Y/N]'s hands.
He may not be an expert but he knew well enough of the potions due to him hanging out too much with them before. "What are you doing?" Tommy immediately asked. "Is that a potion of poison?"
"Nothing for you to care about." [Y/N] turned back towards the cliff and stared at the view once again.
"Just the two of us again here, huh?" They said as they pulled the potion towards their mouth, just inches away from the lips now until Tommy hurriedly ran towards [Y/N] and tackled them.
"What are you, an idiot?!" Tommy scolded as they both fought each other while trying not to fall from the cliff. He tried to pull the potion of poison away but it was hard since they kept gripping on it.
It wasn't until Tommy was finally able to remove the potion from [Y/N]'s grasps. He threw the potion far away as it got smashed on the ground.
The two of them were too busy fighting over the potion to notice that one of them is now standing on the faulty edge of the cliff.
[Y/N] was on the edge of the cliff and accidentally backed away from Tommy, thinking there was still space. A loud shriek came out of their mouth.
Tommy immediately ran towards the edge, scrambled on his feet and looked down. Luckily, [Y/N] was able to hold onto the edge but their hands are shaky and tired from all the things that just happened.
"I got you, I got you." Tommy frantically muttered, his breath increasing as to not knowing what will happen next.
[Y/N] grip is slowly failing. Once their hands slipped, Tommy instantly grabbed their hands and tried to pull them back up. But, he too was tired from everything that has been happening.
He tried to pull them up again but it was no use. Stress was adding up even more the moment they both felt the edge of the cliff shaking once more.
Tommy can't do it anymore. So, he let out all the tears he's been trying to fight back.
"It's gonna be okay, Tommy. Let me go."
The blonde haired teen's eyes widened at [Y/N]'s statement. He can't do it. He can't bear to lose another loved one in his life.
"I can't lose you too, [N/N]." Tommy croaked.
The two might've fought just minutes ago but this is now a life and death situation. Problems and angst aside, they still care for each other.
"You already did." Tommy's eyes widened in confusion and sadness. [Y/N] forced their hand to slip from his as Tommy tried to tighten it even more. [Y/N] had a few energies remaining, so they used it to push themselves off the cliff with their foot, making Tommy let go.
For Tommy, everything is going so fast that his mind almost stopped working.
But everything was in slow motion for [Y/N]. The fresh wind was so refreshing, almost making them forget what is currently happening to them.
They closed their eyes, not wanting to see anymore reactions from Tommy. This is their end. This was meant to be.
The moment [Y/N] chose to fall out from Tommy's grip, the blonde panicked and set aside all items he had with him. Without thinking properly, he lunged himself off the cliff. The only goal he had in mind was to save [Y/N] before it's too late.
But he was, indeed, late.
Everyone's communicator beeped. They all took at least some time to look at what the message could be on the communicator. As soon as everyone read the 2 words, their jaws dropped.
[Y/N] drowned.

Hi, so… what, esxactly, is the dream smp, and is it something you would recommend getting into? Because coming from the empires/last life/3rd life/hermitcraft side of mcyt, dream smp looks really… idk Wack?but also, basically all the mcyt blogs I’m following are DSMP fans to some degree, and I don’t really know what it’s all about… sooo, would you recommend it? Is that something one should get into?
....trying to figure out how to answer this. hm.
okay, so the dream smp is a roleplay server that dream and his friends play on, although dream himself doesn't stream it. arguably for the beginning, the best povs are probably like, wilbur and tommy? bbh is also very good, foolish currently streams dsmp a lot and is a VERY impressive builder we should all be foolish, and technoblade has the advantage of aCTUALLY HAVING EASILY-ACCESSIBLE VODS (we'll get to this).
unlike a server like hermitcraft, it's very roleplay-focused, to the point that they write out some form of script. (famous line leaked from this script: "schlatt has a heart attack and fucking dies".) most of the people on the server - bar foolish and to some extent philza - aren't really builders, and tend more towards the hypixel pvp, speedrunning, and just fucking around sides of minecraft. this, to be clear, doesn't mean that the server doesn't have some impressive stuff! but people coming over from hermitcraft (where even their own members admit things have escalated to a slightly absurd degree on the building front) or empires (which may be a little less absurd than hermitcraft but is also largely populated by builders) sometimes get like... weird about the builds? because parts of the server are ugly, but many of those ugly things have like, story relevance, and attachments to them. so they're like... important.
the story of the dsmp has always, to me, felt very character-focused, for the record. you'll get a decently different story depending on which pov you watch. that being said, if we put things in large buckets:
""season 1"" was first focused mostly on friends fucking around, and then largely coalesces around the conflicts formed by the nation of "l'manburg", first when it declares independence and then after its election elects a dictator and the original founders leave to form a resistance.
""season 2"" is more disjointed, and arguably focuses on two storylines: new l'manburg versus technoblade (and dream in the background), and the end of the "disc war", which started in season 1 and is a conflict between dream and tommy+tubbo. this is also when the supernatural egg arc started.
""season 3"" is more disjointed again. several of the plotlines are focused around dream's imprisonment in pandora's vault, sam's slow decline because of this, as well as quackity's arc and las nevadas. in addition, this is when the supernatural egg arc concludes. (or, largely concludes. there's supposedly a final stream that bad hasn't done yet but i have lost hope.)
now, dream has escaped prison, and there are new members again. however, in season 3, the ""main storyline"" of the dsmp started to stall out very badly as the creators moved onto other things, and while certain streamers, such as foolishgamers and michaelmcchill, still play on the dsmp a lot, the plot has been increasingly fitful and rare. to be clear, they're doing very cool stuff, and i do not want to play down the fact they're doing cool things! my foolish main friends would kill me. that being said, be warned if you get into dsmp right now, trying to follow the dsmp in its current state is often an exercise in frustration.
ALSO unlike hermitcraft, last life, empires, etc, it is entirely streamed, not really youtube content.
this part is why... i'm not sure i can recommend getting into it at this point.
don't get me wrong - dsmp is what got me back into mcyt! i got recommended some dream videos, which caused me to get recommended technoblade videos, which caused me to happen to watch the red festival stream (an event in season 1 in which the dictator of l'manburg held a festival, which turned out to also be an execution for a spy, and that wilbur had been planning on blowing up but didn't succeed, and that techno killed a lot of people but also notably the spy he was supposed to be on the same side as in order to maintain his cover). and that stream was rad! the big storyline moments of the dsmp are... remember big moon payoff? yeah they feel like that. they're great!
the problem is that it's been running for a year, there's no recap (i have heard there's someone trying but i've heard tell it has big particular character bias), i don't know how to ask someone to watch literally days of vods for something, and trying to follow the storyline when it's on at full-blast is almost as frustrating as trying to follow it right now while it's fitful, because unlike hermitcraft, it's live. and catching the plot live can be hard because it's not... consistent. and is often spread across several streamers, often simultaneously. and there are vods that are no longer easily accessible. wilbur made videos out of most of season 1? tommy's own videos of important stuff like the exile arc are very tommy's youtube-ified and remove important harrowing details from the vods (which thankfully ARE actually archived but still). also, fandom context has built up to such a degree that half the arguments and character debates people get into are removed from reality as far as i'm concerned.
i got into dsmp probably at one of the last times when getting into it was easy enough. now i genuinely don't know how to tell you where to start, and am not sure i can recommend starting? i love the dsmp but it's currently a disorganized mess with a massive backlog if you want to be "caught up" and a fandom that, while i love you guys, can be vicious as hell.
ultimately, though, if the roleplay thing DOES sound like your thing? i can still confidently recommend watching wilbur's videos from season 1, they're consistently very funny and the season 1 plot is decently covered in them. technoblade saves all of his vods in a playlist as well and because he like, never streams, it's not HORRIFIC to try to catch up on his pov... noting that later technoblade is somewhat notorious for just having no fucking clue what's going on. uhhh. tommy i know has a vods channel that uploads consistently. if you want current dsmp i can recommend watching foolish's streams.
i hope this helps? or doesn't help. this is a RAMBLE of a primer.
