I...What.
Why the fuck the 1830s? "But without the racists" Okaaaaaaaaay, even if we set aside all the other bigotries alive and well, that's still a very simplified way of looking at slavery, white supremacy, and colonialism.
Also if the song isn't about those topics, that I'm sure she doesn't give a fuck about, why bring up racism at all? It just sounds like the songwriter was like "oh right the 1830s had slavery, let's just rhyme this with racists aaaaannnd perfect." Which again, whyyyyy the 1830s?
One thing is for sure, I'm still side eyeing my cousin who ADORES Taylor Swift and thinks her music is the best thing ever.
i can't believe this is real this sounds like it was pulled directly from the "i wanna have straight sex" tiktok

Polio epidemic in Gaza (no human cases confirmed yet, but the virus was in six out of seven samples of wastewater, meaning it is certainly spreading throughout the population).
This is devastating. This terrible disease was nearly eradicated. There were no infections of it in Palestine for 25 years.

Robert Moss was diagnosed with polio at the age of six, the year before he wrote this letter. He would spend the next nine years of his childhood in and out of hospitals.
He made a full recovery and was a decorated athlete in High School and College, as well as an Eagle Scout. After college, he became a junior high science teacher, while also coaching football, basketball and track.
During summer break from teaching in 1965, his childhood struggle with polio inspired him to spend the summer working at the Louisiana Lions Camp for Crippled Children. He went back the next summer and was hired as camp director.
Robert was the Executive Director of the Lions Camp for 41 years. Over his tenure he expanded the camp to include programs for children with pulmonary disorders, muscular dystrophy, diabetes and autism.
He assisted in programs to set up similar camps in Puerto Rico and Australia, as well as a camp for children with terminal illnesses in Texas.
The Lions Camp still operates and is 100% free of charge for all attendees.

Journalism 101: If someone says it’s raining, and another person says it’s dry, it’s not your job to quote them both. Your job is to look out of the fucking window and find out which is true

inspired by finding out the eagles song "victim of love" was also called "iron lung" by one of the band members because that's what his guitar part sounded like to him

So in 1992sies when crutchie has that line about doing something to snyder's food..I'm pretty sure he probably spat in it which like..gross obviously but also if you know anything about polio and how it spreads you know how absolutely sinister that is(which we love that energy here). it can be spread through saliva for up to 2 or 3 weeks after initial infection so depending on how long crutchie had polio before the events of the film..he could've been genuinely attempting to Fuck Snyder Up Royal and I love that for him we stan a devious little man

There's been an announcement of a humanitarian pause in gaza in order for the UN to administer flu vaccines to over 600,000 children
(my source is AP news)
Tumblr media
"A case of polio was confirmed in Gaza last week, in a 10-month-old child. It was the first such instance of the lifelong crippling disease in over 25 years. Though there is no cure, vaccines against the disease can protect a child for life.
The child had developed paralysis in the lower left leg and is reported to be in a stable condition.
“Polio will not make the distinction between Palestinian and Israeli children,” UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini said last week, highlighting the need for urgent pause in fighting to mitigate the risk of spread of the disease."
