Eddie takes that as permission and steps forward, splaying both hands over Steve’s asscheeks. He feels hypnotized right now - he’d probably do anything Steve told him. Fuck, what if Steve tells him to like, bark or something? He’s not going to bark for Steve Harrington.

I'm genuinely tired of HB/HH/Vivziepop stans putting words into my mouth.

Fyi, I didn't hate the premise. I also don't hate: 1) The animation; 2) The voice acting; 3) The potential the show had, and hopefully still has, since it will apparently have at least four seasons.

But ever since HB went from being about the misadventures of assassins in Hell, into a romance drama between two characters who are clearly toxic for each other, that's when I started hating the plot. The third point you made is true, I do hate the plot, and I will continue to do so, unless all this focus on an abusive gay ship (Stolitz) shifts back to what got me and a lot of other people into the show in the first place. And no, I'm not going to stop being vocal about it just because someone else told me to. You're on the internet buddy, learn to accept the fact that not everyone will have the same opinions as you.

And that's really NOT something to get worked up about.

She is a grown ass woman who kicked Blitzø in the balls after telling Octavia that Stolas is "trying his best" when he clearly wasn't. She physically abused Blitzø just because he called her out RIGHTFULLY, remind me why she didn't beat the shit out of him again in the latest episode after Blitzø wanted her to overwork herself AND didn't pay her for a month?

Oh and there's also the time Loona cheered for Blitzø, tucked him in and called him dad. Why is she abusive towards him in the very next episode?

That's the inconsistency I'm talking about.

As for the other main characters:

I genuinely relate to Octavia. And I feel sorry for her. Enough said.

I don't care about Millie. It's too little too late for that.

I'm not sure how to feel about Moxxie. Where is his character arc even going? What is his character arc? Learning to stand up for himself for the millionth fucking time?

Stella is a wasted character whose only purpose is making Stolas seem "innocent." I hate what the writers did to her.

Also yes, I dislike Viv for reasons that are 100% valid and available to the public, so I'm not making stuff up.

Heteronormativity and (Fan)Fiction

Let me talk about something, that I am thinking a lot about right now. And that is heteronormativity and how fiction interacts with it - especially romantic fiction. Mostly, because I think there are a few parts that do not get spoken about quite as much as other things.

While reading some fanfictions - and some indie published smut - I did realize one thing: A lot of femdom straight romance actually feels a lot more queer than some fiction featuring gay romances. Doubly so when it comes to m/m fiction. Triply so m/m fiction written by women.

There has been a lot of talk within the queer community about heteronormativity and how it impacts us. Because, yes, a lot of us are drawn into comphet at some point, being pressured to get into a straight relationship to be "normal".

But it is of course something else, too.

See, while I was in the hospital earlier this year, I shared a room with an older gay man. An old, gay, white man, who was married to his partner. And obviously in his eyes, the queer rights movement had already reached everything that was to reach, because he could marry his partner - and was allowed to fuck around. And he did not quite see that the experience of him a cis, white man working in a business field that is fairly high regarded and somewhat well paid, was maybe not representative for everyone else.

And that is obviously the big thing here: White homosexual couples, who are at least middle class, and at least pass as having a monogamous relationship will be a lot easier accepted. This goes doubly so, when in their relationship they at least appear to pass for the "heterosexual roles". That is: A more male partner, and a more femine one. Be it the butch and femme lesbian couple, or the bear and twink gay couple.

This does reflect in fiction, too. And it leads to a lot of gay fiction kinda mirroring this.

Look, folks. I don't think there is a big issue in general with women writing m/m slash stuff. But I do think there is some issue when those m/m slash stories get written basically as a straight story with very clear straight roles. With one man being the clear "woman", who will more likely end up as the damsel in distress, who will more likely be the caring one, the one who might in a fantasy setting take up the healer role, and if there is sex will be the bottom. And mind you, will always be the bottom, because switches often do not exist in those stories.

Ironically this is a bit less common with femslash, which does feature a lot less butch/femme ships than one would assume. While yes, those do exist, there is way more femme/femme stuff around, though butch4butch exists as well.

Though this might also be based on the fact that femslash more often than not gets written by women as well - who might just project the kind of female character they identify with into their fiction.

Ironically - and here is where we loop back to the femdom - it even loops back into straight romantic fiction. Because yes, normally femdom romance fiction is very, very rare and often only get published indie.

It shows even stronger in fanfictions, though. Because in fanfiction we will see those rare examples were a male character might be a lot softer, feminine and submissive, will actually be once more pushed into the strong male role of the kinda toxic protector.

I noticed this a lot in terms of how Hector/Lenore is written in the fandom. Sure, there are some other femdom stories with them. But most of the time, Lenore just loops back to being the damsel, while Hector steps up to be the protector. Even though that is kinda the opposite of what we see in canon.

It also is the reason why I dislike seeing Astarion with female Tavs/Durges so much. Because Astarion is very much a twink and a bottom. He wants to be the one who gets protected by someone else and such things. But in a lot of m/f stuff I see with him, he just takes up once more just the classical male love interest role. Which I find boring.

And sure. Like, everyone can write what they can. I am not saying you can't. I will not read it, but it is totally fine for people to write it.

I just want to note that it is definitely rooted in patriarchal gender roles - and heteronormativity. And I find that really, really, really icky.

There is also the fact, again, that I am really not a big fan of the whome "Top and Bottom in male gay stories are permanently assigned roles, that do not only assign a sex position, but also a sort of pseudo-genderole". And yes, there are more than enough gays (especially those who self-identify as tops), who still want to cling to that idea. Because it is more in line with the rest of society. And because in their heads, too, there is this idea that the penetrated partner in sex should be more submissive.

It still gets to me that so much fiction and fanfiction keeps this kinda stuff up. I mean, queer stuff is the place to let go of patriarchal norms and genderroles and still, people... somehow don't?

The two ships where this irks me the most right now is Trevorcard (Trevor/Alucard) and Mizrox (Mizrak/Olrox) in Castlevania. Where most people just go: Trevor and Mizrak are the tops - and Alucards and Olrox are respectively the bottom.

And, let's face it. This originates that to a western eye Alucard and Olrox read more feminine due to their long hair.

Now, wihen it comes to Alucard I find it mostly annoying. But when it comes to Olrox? Well, I cannot help but think: "It's a bit racist, right?"

Because the fact is, that reading Olrox as "more feminine" because of his long hair is just pushing western ideas onto an indigenous character. But to him, of course, that long hair is a very masculine trait. So, yeah... I just cannot help but feel that folks really project a lot of shitty stuff onto a shipping.

In the end... I really just wished that fiction - original and fanfiction alike - would go more an explore genderoles and relationship dynamics outside of heteronormativity. Because this kinda stuff it shitty, and does a lot more harm than good.

IDK much about Dragon age veilguard, but all I've noticed till now is that the queer themes sound like it's another one of those super specific queer experiences that just read super awkward to me.

Ya know that joke that all big budget US queer media basically has a very specific tone and vibe from Cali or smth, and represents a very specific style of queerness.

Also, that's maybe just me, but it always feels like there's a certain tone within this writing style that makes queerness a "THING".* And maybe it's because that's how the culture is for queerness where these writing decisions are made, so it feels a bit weird from where I stand. Makes me feel like a tourist.

I think why that specifically is so divisive is because, at least from my experience is because it's not treated as a queerness particular to one queer culture, it's often treated like a universal experience of queerness. It's too "uniform" and too copy paste, maybe because the people writing only care to represent their very specific type of queerness.

*I noticed I didn't explain what that means. It's just the vibe that the queerness is presented weirdly. Again, might just be that culturally the queerness IS different where this stuff is written. Like in some cases it's a characters queerness being the main/only character trait. Or it could be that it's always mentioned even when irrelevant. Or random micro-aggressions or straight up queerphobia being pressed into the narrative where it just feels very strange and off putting, without furthering anything. It can also be done in a "positive" way, like "positive queerphobia", like presenting a gay character as less threatening and as weak because he fits the twink staple. It also counts if it feels like the queer characters identity is loudly shouted from the rooftops, for no other reason that doing the figurative "patting yourself on the back look at how good I did." It's just bad writing decisions and IMO strange outlook towards what it means to be queer and like this is the way a queer character has to be presented to be "good" or "valid" rep.

I’m gonna be totally honest here. I don’t get the hate that Helluva Boss gets. Yes it’s flawed and it has some writing problems and maybe the character design isn’t to your liking, but when has that EVER stopped anyone from enjoying a piece of media?

Anime is very stylized with unrealistic body proportions, and crazy colors and weird character design, think marvel and dc (a mix of well handled and badly handled characters, drama, and topics, plus flamboyant costume designs) literally any popular book series or dating games (difficulty juggling many characters, writing issues, some toxic romances). This stuff isn’t meant to be perfect, it’s meant to be enjoyed. I’d definitely prefer for all creators to put their best effort into works, but that isn’t always gonna happen. So I’ll complain a bit. Some stuff is gonna be a bit flawed, but as long as it’s not promoting crazy stuff then it’s nothing but a minor annoyance for me to occasionally critique. But not something to hate and dunk on over and over and over and over… and over…

And the hate towards the ships… it’s dumb in my opinion. “Stolitz is TOXIC and Fizzmodeus is bad” Okay and? I honestly don’t care that much. At least they’re interesting. It’s not as big of a deal people are making it out to be. It’s not like it’s promoting these kinds of relationships in real life. The only ship I have a problem with is a haggis because it was written blandly and kind of boring. For one, it’s hell and these characters clearly have issues that they are eventually supposed to work through. They’re relationship is gonna be very flawed. In any case, since when has fandom culture cared if a fun little gay ship is a bit toxic? As long as it isn’t abuse or SA. That’s the problem many toxic fictional romances have (especially straight ones), instead of being ~toxic~ with flavor, (something most of of us acknowledge wouldn’t work in the real world) it’s toxic with physical and emotional abuse and SA-type possessiveness. That’s the difference between something like your typical Booktok romance and Stolitz. I thought “we” the fandom liked toxic yaoi? I don’t understand you people, I feel like everyone just likes to jump on the bandwagon of hating Vivziepop stuff instead of just mildly critiquing it.

Hey so just fyi the B*mmy stans are not happy about us commenting on the newest 911 post so maybe go leave a new comment about how much you're looking forward to Buddie in s8. Don't engage with the B/T shippers and try to keep your comments as something positive.

Despite what this👇 ridiculous post says and despite the bs their fandom tries to peddle I get that when people say they want T*mmy killed off you're just making jokes (people have said similar things about the female love interests too) but especially if you're posting on the official 911 social media make your comments about Buddie and make them something positive. Our fandom is about supporting the amazing love story between these two men. We have a lot of history and depth on our side we don't need to stoop down to the level of the same people who have doxxed journalists because they ship Buddie.

Most of that post I included is just out right lies and them grasping at whatever reasons they can find to defend their ship and explain things like why Oliver hasn't given one single solitary fck about promoting that ship. Ryan has never "shot gay Eddie (or Buddie) down". Calling Eddie straight in an interview doesn't mean he's against Buddie or that is 100% where the story will stay. Buck was straight up until s7 and even if no one ever used the word heterosexual in an article about him a lot of the language used was that way including stuff said by Oliver. Both Ryan and Oliver have always been very supportive of Buddie and both have said they'd be up for it if the story would be taken that way including during interviews that happened during s7.

Trying to use anything the other cast said as a gotcha moment for why Buddie isn't happening just makes them look stupid honestly. The only people who matter when it comes to Buddie happening are Tim, Oliver, and Ryan and they're all on board for it. Also no one else (besides Oliver and Ryan) are going to know it's happening until the scripts are written. The B/T kiss in season 7 was leaked so I'm sure they're going to do as much as they can to keep Buddie going canon (which is a much bigger deal) secret until it happens. So neither Kenney nor JLH would even know until s8 what's going on.

I can't help but laugh at them bringing up those embarrassing cameos. There's every reason to believe that Lou was told by Tim and ABC to stop making them because he kept giving his own headcanons on T*mmy and B/T and making that ship seem so much more important than it ever was intended to be.

Neg-rant ⚠️

Well, here we go again. Ya know, it's hard to explain the feeling rn, but I can simply say that I got jealous out of my friend again.

The wall of text :

I know that it's common for people to compare themselves to other people sometimes, but it's a bad feeling everytime it's happening. And I feel bad to that, that's happening to me when I saw my friend's work. Because I don't want them to feel bad for making me jealous too..

Most of the time, I got jealous because of the.. well, how good other people can do the " story telling ". Especially my good friend, Danish ( sorry for dragging you into this again ). She has an amazing talent on world building, story telling, and literally EVERYTHING. I'm always looking up to her tbh. But for me, I'm the kind of person who likes to keep stuff inside my head, and I'm quite enjoying drawing stuff like a character relationship and dynamic then a big world building and lore.. something like, you know, yaoi and shipping. But evey time I saw Danish's amazing world building, lore, and journey of The Føol. It's making me feel like " What the hell am I doing here!? She's out there cooking! But all I do all day is making gay drama- ". Main! Turbø is literally doing the REAL The Føol's journey, meanwhile my Turbø is still trying his best to ask Nitrø and KC out! (Maybe it's for the best for Main! Turbø to be Aroace, so he doesn't get distracted by other things )

And Føol's escape stories... It literally has nothing to be compared with the Dawn of Førgotten! That main universe is deep, amazing, and literally having a story inside whole rabbit hole waiting to be found! But mine? Pretty much a straight line... Turbø going out each land and kicking everyone ass so he could just get the hell out of Wøndergotten. Maybe having some self discovery too alone the way.. but compared with the main AU, it's literally having much better Turbø! The way he lost the memories can make so much interesting story of self discovery for that Turbø!! His anxiety, identity crisis, the over all evening!

Seeing how good of that Wøndergotten is making me guilty for having this much of simple storyline... I don't even really have a ACTUAL WORLD BUILDING! The Wøndergotten I have is literally using the same world building and overall thing as same as the main one, just a little bit more chilling for some reason. All the world building stuff is go to Danish who's the creator. Which it's making me guilty again for not doing anything other than playing around with the characters instead of doing some actual story like her.

Actually, If I want to tell the story, I'll be prefer to do the writing more than drawing. But the only reason that I'm not writing it out.. is because I lack of motivation to doing it. You know, when work doesn't get that much attention from the people you're just kinda throw it away... Same here, I wrote the actual Wøndergotten story long ago. I posted it in my writing blog, and even sharing it the main blog and hope people seeing it more! But yeah.. it's not really getting that much of a attention. So, I'm pretty much just F with it and go back to drawing toxic yaoi, which is something that I'm sure people love, and I love it too.

Lack of motivation is probably something that makes me don't draw or write stuff about the story or lore about Wøndergotten much. It's like, yeah I love the characters relationship drama and everyone loves the relationship drama! No one probably cares if I'm posting a draw or a written about a story of AU itself. So that's pretty much why The Føol's escape is 80% Toxic yaoi and 20% The Føol's journey.

Another thing that I want to say is that my humble ass self always makes me see people are better than me. If it's not the art, it's going to be the story telling, and probably the characters building too, sometimes. I never think I'm good enough tbh.. never think I'm a big artist.

Maybe Føol's escape is really the opposite of maine Wøndergotten.. probably the down grade of it.. I really think that sometimes.

Modern MDZS au where WWX gets in a debate with college professor LQR about LGBTQA+ stuff, probably bc WWX is “corrupting” LWJ with the gay agenda. And stealing all of LWJ’s turtlenecks, for some odd reason! The boy clearly can’t take care of his own clothes, they’re all tattered and his hair is a birds nest.

Anyways, LWR is going on about how the homos are lecherous filth that have fallen to temptation or smth while covering up their transgressions by naming themselves odd things. Really, LQR asks, “what even is a pan-sexual?” (Or some other such thing that shows he doesn’t actually know anything anout being queer)

“Oh, you don’t know?” WWX asks, eyes wide and innocent and CLEARLY up to Some Shit. “Professor Lan, Professor Lan, Professor ‘show your sources do your research’ LAN. Do you not know what we’re debating about?”

LQR huffs and starts saying something about family values and continuing on bloodlines, but WWX is grinning like the cat that caught the canary.

“Professor, have you ever actually researched this? Or are you just wasting my time?” (An actual LQR quote from earlier in the semester)

LQR puffs up, and he’s all “of course I haven’t-“

“Well then, Sir,” WWX interrupts, manic joy written all over his expression, “may I just say that you have the audacity of a white man insisting that Mandarin is just a type of orange.”

The bell rings before LQR can get a word in, and WWX grabs his bag and books it to the door.

“I’ll send you some reading, Professor Lan! Let’s do this again when you know what you’re talking about!”

And with that he’s gone.

Now, WWX is only a little bit of a hypocrite, bc he definitely thought he was straight and only just managed his Revelation of “oh heck Lan Zhan is so pretty he turned me gay?” *research montage bc he actually has resources (and NHS definitely helped.) “Oh maybe girls are just pretty and I’m demisexual.”

However, the fact that he only JUST did this, means his ADHD self still has all the tabs open. And, like, he did say he’d send stuff, and this is Lan Zhan’s uncle. So, he compiles a helpful list of sites and articles, includes a link to a place where you can ask questions to the Queer Council, and sends it off.

LQR is initially going to ignore it, but then his scholar brain gets the better of him. First off, it's pretty obvious that Dabi has some form of his own internalized misogyny because at one point he called both his mom and Fuyumi the 'weak ones' in the family (literally said that the females in the family are all weak-willed). Maybe he fixes that with Toga, because he obviously treats her loads better especially when she goes back to her childhood home. But you cannot tell me, for one iota of however many brain cells you have left in your head, that Dabi was 'never' negative about women in general?? It doesn't need to be spelled out, it's right there if you just pick up the context clues given.

And it doesn't make me love him any less either, if anything it makes me love him MORE because of the angst that can be made with the thought that any Y/N!Female could be the ONE woman he finally gets better for in that aspect. And I love stories where those kinds of guys realize their mistakes with hating all women, it's glorious and makes me weep every single time I read about it.

Oh, and fun fact, I am biologically female. So if you're trying to say I'm 'misogynistic' because I identify as male, oh boy are you SO wrong. I just find it funny that ever since I started identifying as male (around a month ago I specifically came out as DemiBoy) suddenly the influx of 'anti-man' comments are coming straight for me whenever I bring this stuff up. As for me posting all that stuff to begin with - have you SEEN how some in the fandom write Dabi??? Some make him out to be an absolute dick, far worse than anything I've ever thought about him. Like, making him into an even worse abuser than Endeavor ever was. But at least with MY headcanon, he can be redeemed because his reasoning for seeing women as 'weak' is based on actual canon rather than just a sexual fantasy about someone being abused and liking it (nothing against those who like that stuff but it wasn't my point when writing my post).

Or, on the flip side, fans who write him seem to forget his more 'mean' points of his character and it just feels disingenuous to me. I prefer being close to canon with how I see characters, not against the fandom versions in any way but in my head I always stay close to how they're portrayed by the OG creator/writer. And I also like angst, I am allowed to 'bump up' certain character traits if it fits my headcanons and if you don't like it then tough tits.

A nerdy revenge

A nerdy revenge:

School was hell, but somehow he managed to get through it mostly unscathed. But then Theo went to study and his school bully’s did the same. So he was still not getting rid of them. Wort of all he had to share a flat with them. Due to the high energy and other costs he had to get some flatmates. And these were the only two, willing to pay the rent he asked for. So he was stuck with these guys for a couple of more years.

That included a lot of more heckling and bullying along the way. Much to his advantage he did not really care anymore. He ignored most of the things they said or did to him. The guys in question were Andreas and Robert. Both of them gym rats. Nice toned bodies and nothing else in their brains then getting the next women for the night. Often there were foreign lady’s coming and going. Sometimes even several a day. Theo stayed out of this. He was concentrating on his degree in chemistry.

Besides his studies he was interested in games and anime. He rarely went to the gym but still was able to keep scrawny and thin. His black hair were a little longer and from only seeing his back he was often mistaken for a girl. And if all of this wasn’t enough he was interested in men. He did not know why and could not explain it, but women were just not giving him the things a men could. Nevertheless he never really had a relationship. Dating yes, but no guy made it beyond that. Maybe Theo was not willing to let them get close or they were not really interested in a guy who would not only think about sex.

The years went by and nothing really changed. Theo was nearly done with his degree while the other two had to repeat some of their classes due to the lack of studying. And so Theo told them that if he was done with his studies he would move somewhere else and sell the flat. Robert and Andreas did not take the message with glee. A lot of bad words were coming Theo’s way and they even began to spread nasty rumours about him in the university. Normally he would not care. But even the few friends he had were talking to him about what kind of a douchebag he was to set his mates on the street. He tried to make things right but besides his friends no one believe his reasoning.

And this was the day Theo decided to take action. If they would want to fight him so badly, he would put up a fight. But not with his fists, more with his mind. Or more with their bodies. What good would his degree be, when he would not put it to use? One of his closest friends was let in on his plan and wanted to help him. He had heard about a strange shop somewhere downtown, where they should have some special chemicals with unusual effects. So Theo and Brian went there and browsed through the inventory of the shop.

“Are you sure this stuff will work?” Theo asked his friend.

“No idea. But what do we have to lose? I mean it sounds all way too crazy to be true”, Brian answered.

“I see you are not familiar with our inventory, boys. May I be of assistance to you?” a shop clerk asked and they looked at him.

He seemed to be a pretty young guy on the outside.  But his eyes looked way older than his face. He wore a normal story outfit, fitting for a pharmacy store.  

“Oh we were just wondering if this stuff really does what is written on it”, Theo said.

“Of course it does. All our products are tested and verified. Trust me if I say, they work wonders for a boy like you. Revenge has such a sweet smell and you want a lot of it. So what can we do to satisfy you? If you give me a description of the situation I can help you find the perfect product.”

Theo was first hesitant but his friend was not and began to explain everything he knew to the clerk. He was listening and his smile kept getting wider and wider.

“I understand. Whu, this is a perfect story for an act of revenge. You came to the right place. May I ask how you want to get back at them?”

“Well since both are working out so much, I thought about getting them some protein supplements”, Theo said and the clerk laughed.

“What a brilliant idea. You have a bright future ahead of you. If you are interested, I am willing to give you a contract after you have your degree. But back to the matter at hand. Well in that case we need something that looks like powder. Best white and with no special smell. Ah here we got something”, he said took a big glass out of the shelf.

The powder inside was white and did look like normal protein powder. The lable was not really telling Theo anything.

“So for your purposes it would be perfect. Just what effect should it have? Do you want to get them fat?”

“No that would not be fitting. Although it would be nice. No I am thinking more of being submissive to me. Being below my feet and getting trampled on by me, like they are doing now.”

The clerk grinned even wider.

“Just a moment. I will prepare everything. Do you want to mix something for yourself or should I do the honour of creating your special protein mix?” he asked.

“I guess if it would not cost to much”, Theo began, when the clerk already interrupted him.

“Oh no, no no no. We are not talking about money, my boy. My first example is free. Trust me, it will be enough to get them winding at your feet. But I did not want to take the satisfaction of doing it yourself away from you.”

“In that case, may I assist?” Theo asked.

“Sorry my boy. Even though I can respect your decision. Until you are not working here, I cannot show you anything. Would be bad for my business. Just a moment, all will be ready in a moment.”

With that the clerk stormed off to a back room.

“Do you think this will work?” Brian asked.

“I have no idea. I bet it will be too good to be true. But anyway it did cost nothing. And if it works, heck I will start working here”, Theo said.

“I will pick you up on that, my boy”, the clerk said when he came back with two big tubes.

“The sweet revenge package. I garantuee you, it will work way better then you expect. If not feel free to come again. And if it does, I would love to hire you. A guy with such a sweet sense for revenge would be a good addition to my shop. So off you go and have fun”, the clerk send them on their way.

Back at their flat, both boys were greeted with Andreas and Robert who wanted to go to the gym.

“He nerd, what you got there?” Robert asked pointing at the tubes.

“Oh that? I was thinking about hitting the gym with Brian. So we went out to get some protein powder”, Theo said and Andreas wasted no time snatching the tube from his hands.

“Never heard of this stuff. Must be something cheap. Nevertheless, before you need it, it is better for us. Thanks for the free supplements nerd”, said and Robert snatched the other tube.

Theo protested a little bit before both boys just went out.

“They took the bait, now we need to wait”, Theo said.

“I am curious to see what will happen, if something happens.”

Brian and Theo spent the rest of the day together and waited for the bullies to come back. After some hours Andreas and Robert came back and went directly to the kitchen. Prepared their protein shakes and downed them pretty quickly. Watched by Theo and Brian. Nothing seemed to be happening.

“Do you taste something strange?” Andreas asked his friend.

“Not really. Tastes like nothing to me. But hey it was free and if it works, why not taking it? Cheaper than buying stuff ourselves.”

“Amen, brother”, Andreas said and so they went to bed.

“Well guess it will take some time for the effect to take place”, Theo said.

“Guess so. Well ring me up if something unusual happens. See you around”, Brian said and left the flat.

The days went by and Theo did not notice any change in his flatmates other than their muscle’s seemed to be bulging a little more than usual. The only thing that seemed a little strange was that he had the feeling some of his socks went missing. But probably just imagination. But then one day he saw where his socks went. Both Andreas and Robert were wearing them for their workout. He thought nothing of it. Both boys would take everything they want anyway. But that the used socks were in his room the next day, surprised him. Did his flatmates began to take his socks, wear them and return them in exchange for another pair? And this continued.

The day of his final exam drew near and finally it was all over. The exam was written and now he would only need to wait for the result. Andreas and Robert on the other hand failed their exam since both boys did not even attend them. They were busier in the gym. Theo waited for them at home, hoping they would be in a good mood and leave them alone. He decided that it was now the right time to wear some of the socks both boys returned to him. White sport socks with a logo of the manufacturer. Andreas and Robert came home and went straight to the kitchen.

“Oh man, this is our last shake with this stuff”, Theo heard.

Only after both boys were done drinking they came back and saw Theo on the sofa. He could see how their eyes were fixed to his feet.

“Hey, um Theo. Where did you get this protein stuff?” Andreas asked in an unusual polite tone.

“Downtown from a special shop. Why you ask?”

“It worked so good we would like to get more of it”, Robert said.

“More of the stuff or of my feet?”

Panic mixed into the boys eyes when the noticed that Theo noticed where they were staring.

“We, I mean”, Robert stammered.

“I see that you are wearing my socks and staring at my feet is there anything you want to tell me?”

Robert and Andreas looked at each other and a big sigh escaped their mouths. The sat down next to him. He could smell the sweat on their clothes. They did not shower.

“We, we are sorry for being such assholes to you”, Andreas said.

“Say what?”

“We don’t know. The last weeks it felt wrong, all that we did. And another thing changed. We started to look at your feet. We both have no idea why. From one day to another they got interesting. After some days we wondered how your socks would feel and started wearing a pair. We returned it after workout and took the next. We did this for the past weeks always wondering why. We had no explanation.”

“You sure you guys are okay?”

“Yeah we are okay. We just never came true with this. Theo we love your feet. We want to serve them. Serve you. Please let us be your foot slaves.”

Theo was taken a little bit aback, but found his confidence quicker then he thought.

“Took you long enough to notice that you are beneath me. Now get to work and serve my feet”, he said and both boys gave him a kiss on the cheeks before getting to work.

They began to play with his feet in totally new ways. Enjoying the smell and the feeling of them. Theo could not believe his eyes. He made a photo and send it over to Brian. A short while later he was at the door.

“Get the door, slave”, Theo said and pointed at Andreas.

“Anything for you, master”, he answered and opend the door.

“Welcome. The master is busy right now. May I ask what you want?”

“I want to see my friend”, Brian said a little bit confused.

“Master?”, Andreas asked.

“It is okay. Let him in.”

With that Andreas pulled Brian in and closed the door. He went back to serving his master while Brian took his shoes off and then went into the living room.

“Hi, Brian. Come sit with me”, Theo said and Brian sat down confused.

“What happened to them?”

“I guess the powder worked. They want nothing more than serving me.”

“Wow, never expected it to be so effective” Brian said and watched them.

“Robert, take care of Brian’s feet, will you?”

“Yes, master”, he responded and began to play with Brian’s feet as well. A totally new sensation hit the boy and he moaned and closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of the worshipping.

“I thought you would like it, Brian. What do you say? It worked didn’t it?”

At first Brian was hit like a truck that his friend would do such a thing. But then another sensation hit him. Love. Theo was right he loved him. So both guys were kissing while the others were taking care of their socks. When Brian finally pulled back from his new lover Theo had an idea.

“Robert, take Brian’s socks and wear them.”

Without question Robert exchanged his socks with Brian’s and then continued to worship his master’s boyfriend. And this went on until it was time for bed. Brian and Theo slept their first night together while Robert and Andreas were sleeping in their rooms. The next day they went to the gym, came back, exchanged their workout socks with these of their master and then began worshipping them again. Theo and Brian were just sitting on the sofa enjoying the show. But suddenly a new sensation were hitting them. Theo and Brian closed their eyes enjoying the biggest hard-on of their life.

They pulled down their shorts released their dicks and began stroking them. More and more of their bodies were consumed. First their torso and hands. The feeling of the fabric was nearly sending them over the edge. But despite all the sensation they did not come. Both boys played together until later that day Theo got the message that he passed his exam and was now done with university. A few days later both boys went back to the shop.

“I see, you are back. Did it work?”

“It worked better than expected”, Theo said.

The clerk was looking at him.

“You changed, boy. I guess everything was to your satisfaction?”

Theo grabbed Brian’s hand kissed him and then looks at the clerk.

“Yeah. Even more than that. I am here for your offer.”

“Gladly, boy. I am sure you will make some good stuff here. While I see you already practiced on your new boyfriend.”

Brian blushed and smiled awkwardly. The next years went by and Theo was developing new stuff by the day and helping people who were in a similar situation as he once was. Live was never better for him. Even though he helped it becoming this good.

you do see my point though, I was saying that yes a piece of media can have a character imply they are queer, but it’s frustrating when they won’t explicitly confirm such, because of (in the case of… checks app store purchase statistics…. A multi million dollar game franchise!) the need to market to as many people as possible. Shumika will never be “canon” because some people just don’t like shumika and won’t spend money on the game if shu and mika are in a relationship, whether or not that’s because they like the ship or the characters or are genuinely homophobic or whatnot. If the writing team cared about telling a love story, they would tell a love story, not go “well maybe they’re in love, it’s up to viewer interpretation!” like this works, sometimes it adds to the meaning of the work, but enstars really doesn’t have an excuse for their constant “this character might have feelings for this other character, but we’ll never have them say it out loud!” except the fact it makes them a lot of money, since they can market to people who like a character being the way they want that character to be, whether that’s with that character being in love with another in game character or self-shipping or whatever else. Outside of shipping, this is why some characters like Shinobu haven’t changed despite wanting to change (he continuously talks about how he wants to be more mature and taken seriously but his cards continue to make him look small and cute because his fans like that about him and god forbid we change anything!) I just think enstars should not be your first thought when someone asks you about a good piece of queer media because they’re doing just about the same job as large cast games with characters of the same gender (minus Arashi) who continue to have characters go “we’ll do all these things to imply we could be in love, but we’ll never have our characters actually date! teehee!”

i can understand being frustrated about your ships not being "confirmed", but the obsession with what is "canon" and "not canon" is just straight up not a very interesting discussion to have. what happyele's or the writers' agenda is is not of particular importance to me. one of the first things they teach you in classes about media analysis is that once a work is out there, the intentions of the creator no longer matter. the only thing that matters in your analysis is your own thoughts and the way you interpret a text.

if we were having a conversation about how much the creator of something sucks, then sure, talk about that all you want, but i am specifically referring to discussions about the piece of media and these characters and their relationships and their growth and the themes of the work etc. those things are removed from whether or not the company writes the way they do because of profit motives or whatever. companies make money, that's just what to expect. if you want art that is free of profit motives, read something by an independent creator.

even so, it feels strange to place enstars into the bucket of "stuff that should be gayer but the bad company that makes it wont let it be" because the characters ARE so very openly queer. there are so many instances in it where characters pour their heart out to each other or offer themselves to another character in beautiful and poetic ways, and i think it's wrong to claim it doesn't count because they didn't confirm their relationship status at the end of it. if you ask me, there is absolutely no way to interpret enstars in a way completely free of queerness. there is so much explicitly queer text that ignoring it is just plain incorrect. but, if homophobic people like this game and choose to look the other way at all of the gay shit, again, that is not my problem.

why is canonization the only thing that matters? is a shitty BL with awful writing better and more worthwhile than enstars as a queer narrative because the characters had explicit gay sex on screen? are poorly written gay characters in the background of other media with nothing going on more worth talking about than shumika or wataei or rinniki or whoever else just because they say the words 'i'm gay' out loud?

queerness is so much more than all of that. it is so much more than labels and it is so much more than relationships that are easy to understand. it is so much more than the extremely narrow view of it that the internet has concocted about it over the last few years, where you’re only allowed to talk about queerness if you yourself are openly queer and out of the closet, and even then you’re only allowed to make art that makes for “good representation.” that is just so incredibly limiting. i would rather tons of companies who are trying to profit off fujoshis make vaguely gay media with unconfirmed romances and relationships that aren't easily defined by labels than have less queer art in the world.

more queer art means more queer people who will find something to really connect to. more queer art means telling more queer stories. why should who is allowed to write lgbtq media be limited? why should the kind of media people are allowed to make be limited?

its fine to criticize happyelements if youre unsatisfied with the way they do things, im not always 100% in love with everything they do either. i wouldn't even consider enstars to be the worlds' best example of a queer piece of media. but no one is forcing you to like or engage with it or give the company money if you're unhappy with how they write and market their game. they don't owe anyone explicit confirmation that any of their characters are dating, and it doesn't even matter if they do provide that confirmation or not.

regardless of who made it or for what reason, queer stories are worth talking about, "canon" or not.

Hi Stormy,

I hope you are doing well. I appreciate your perspective and level-headed take on things and I'm writing to share my perspective because I think maybe people forget how hard/tricky it can be to be lgbtqi+ in a society that actively discriminates.

I'm an older ARMY and came out as queer around the time our boys were born. I live in the US, so I came out at a time when there were zero legal protections. Really it was a dramatically different world from how it is here now and, from what I observe, there are similarities to how Korea is currently. I also lived with a group of Koreans for several years in the 90s so got super familiar with Korean skinship and norms. Being older with this experience, I think I just see things a little differently.

When I first got into BTS, I noticed JK & JM having a different vibe than the others. Then, very early on, I came across GCF and I quite literally thought that GCF Tokyo was a coming out video. I thought JK & JM were together and out. My partner (not ARMY) watched it and said, "Aw, he loves him so much." Of course, I watched more and looked into it and realized that they are not out. It was only after watching original content and thinking they were a couple that I discovered shipping which was a little crazy when I look back on it. And, it's funny because the reasons I think they are a couple have little to do with their skinship that are so often shown as "proof" of their relationship. What makes them seem like a couple to me has more to do with their (or other members) tiny moments of panic that point to something more/hidden. I just have not picked up on little panic moments like that with any of the other members. I mean if "real couples" were based on skinship, we have a video of Jin literally sticking his hand through Tae's legs and grabbing his balls, but I don't think they are a couple. Seriously, if it were based on skinship alone, you'd think all of Bangtan are together. (Which is within the realm of possibility but seems very very unlikely to me.)

Anyway, like you, I think Jikook are a couple but I also think it is possible that I'm wrong and that they are just very close friends. If I'm wrong, no big deal. Regardless, one thing I am 100% sure of is that they love each other dearly either romantically or otherwise. I find delight in watching them interact because they are adorable.

On to my real point now! Military service is looming for them and this is a huge deal. It is quite literally dangerous to be queer and entering the South Korean military. If you are out or outed, you can be classified as having a mental disorder and can be dishonorably discharged. Even if you are not discharged, being queer will negatively effect your assignment in the military. Not to mention the risk of receiving all kinds of hate. If you are caught engaging in "homosexual acts" while in the military (on base) you can be jailed for 2 years. Basically, discrimination is written directly into the protocols of the SK military. So, our boys are closeted (assuming we are correct and they are not straight) and entering into this system soon.

In my view, it is 100% normal and expected for them to get more and more careful the closer they get to service. I feel like we are seeing this more with JM than JK. This is not surprising to me - JM fits the, "gay stereotype" way more than JK, so may feel more at risk. Plus, personality wise, he's more a rule follower and has clearly struggled more with self-acceptance. This military stuff may just be harder for him. I think it's hard for both of them, but maybe harder for JM.

I think it is very possible that they are intentionally toning things down and/or that they may be spending more time apart as a way to prepare. At any rate, I think we as outside observers need to remember that this is scary. The fear of consequences when you have no legal protections is hard to explain if you've never felt it. It's intense. They may lie to protect themselves and I would 100% understand that and support them in doing so. I also think there may be some push/pull happening. Like they may act kinda chilly to each other and then forget and act their normal lovey selves and then remember and act chill or stay away from each other when on camera. In things that have been filmed post their Las Vegas concerts, they have seemed a little more camera aware and careful to me than they have been in the years prior to then. All that seems normal to me given what they are facing right now.

Given all this, I think JM has been so brave with his queer coded stuff for Face. (As an aside - as an older queer for whom Maplethorp was an icon, him wearing those pants was AMAZING and meant so so much. Like I can't put into words how powerful that was.) And, JK has shown his love with those JM focused WeLives in a way that is so sweet. And, we've had these little interactions that really would not be happening if they were a couple who have now broken up. But, we have not really seen them together all that much. I think that's intentional and is really best for their safety.

So, yeah, sorry this got so long. I just hope folks think a little about how this current situation may play into what we see from jikook and that we recognize the very real possibility that this isn't a reflection on how they may be doing as a couple but a reflection on their current circumstances. We as a fandom need to remember always that we are not seeing the whole story and there is lots we don't know. These guys have been through a lot. They are strong (individually and with each other) and have a lot of support around them. Let's all send them our love and support, enjoy what they choose to share and remember that they may be holding back for very good reasons.

I also don't totally agree with everything you've said military wise, I'm not sure honestly where I Land there. Haven't been thinking too hard about it honestly. BUT I do for the most part agree with all your feelings there. I also have multiple posts on my masterlist about lgbtq+ hardships in South Korea right now and among others too. Which touch on alot you said here as well.

The thing I find lame about SNW is that they "lean into" Spock's human half. Ohhhhh oo-hoo-hooooo look at me! I'm a writer who wants to put my goofy ass spin on Mr. Spock!

But then they want to call it a canon prequel to the ORIGINAL? Like canon. To the original. I don't buy it. Canon to the OG where Spock is literally disgusted and ashamed of his human half and has spent his ENTIRE life hiding it? Like the entire time, that includes the time in which SNW supposedly takes place? And the T'Pring shit I can't even bring myself to talk about because it deviates so far from canon? A one-off character they just brought back to make Spock seem less fucking gay?

Hoh look a musical episode! Wow! It's camp get it??? Camp?? Cuz the original was campy?? Except Spock is straightwashed so they managed to make camp heterocentric so what are they doing and what was the point? Who the hell is this supposed to be for?

What. Were. They. Thinking. I'm going insane. Episode where SPOCK becomes HUMAN? Episode where they SPLIT the MIXED RACE character who was written as MIXED RACE in the SIXTIES! I dare them to write a goofy episode where Oops! I turn Full Native and see how quirky and racially sensitive it is. Hoho so fun and goofy!

No I cannot overlook these transgressions. I want as many people as possible to know that I'm disgusted and to feel vindicated in knowing that they aren't the only one. I'm so sorry fellow mixed race queers. We deserve better from a "Star Trek show". And Spock as a character deserves so much more respect than he's ever given in reboot writing. A kid with a Spock action figure could conjure up a superior narrative.

There's so many types of Star Trek Show at this point that there is bound to be some contention over what is the "right vibe" and what is sacrilege but whatever the fuck SNW and AOS is dishing out is just sooooo far removed from everything I found appealing about Star Trek. Oooo big het guys do tuff stuff but never in a gay way (maybe throw a qweer in the background so people can't call out lack of rep) and also the enterprise looks like a migraine and maybe there's some explosions oooooooo [has a stroke and fucking dies]

Let me try to explain this...

Okay, let me try to explain something. And let me try on a personal level here.

I am bisexual. And while I am a guy, I only came out as trans when I was like 30, so I lived 30 years as a bisexual woman. Because I was out as bisexual when I was like... 11.

And do you know how most guys I have ever dated reacted to it? "OMG! We could have a threesome!"

Of course, if you have followed me for a while, you know that I very much am in favor of moresomes, both as a one-off or a constant thing. Buuut... This still always felt super, super gross to me. Do you want to know why?

Because they saw my sexuality, something that is a very inherent part of myself, as a thing they could use to fulfill their desires. They saw this aspect of me as a tool they could use for themselves. And that is fucking disgusting.

Anyways... This is why I hate playersexuality in video games. Aka "oh, the characters are bisexual, so everyone can romance them". So, the stuff that a lot of modern CRPGs do. Be it Baldur's Gate 3 or Starfield or... Well, you can probably think of several other examples. Because in most of those cases the characters are not really written as bisexual. Their supposed "bisexuality" is just a tool to fulfill the disires of the players. It is not even part of the characters, it is just a tool. And to me, as a bisexual guy, this is fucking offensive.

If you want to make your characters bisexual? Well, then go ahead and write the characters as bisexual. Put it into the text that the characters are bisexual. Put in the effort.

In other forms of media we do not let the creators get away with "well, X is actually Y-sexual", when the text itself does not make it clear. We will call out the writers, directors and showrunners trying to pull this off as cowards, because we kinda know that this sexuality is not in the text to make sure there will not be angry conservatives about "people pushing queerness down their throats". Or because they were too lazy to write it and do the legwork for it.

So, why the fuck are we okay with it, when games do it?

To keep the example with BG3: If you do not play the game as a female character that goes on to romance Astarion and do not enjoy meta-content, you would have no way of knowing that Astarion is "supposed" to be pan. Because he is written as a gay character (by which I am talking about that each and every prior relationship he mentions has been with a man). The same goes in turn with Gale and Shadowheart. If you do not play as a male charater to romance either of them, you will come away from the game and read them as a straight man and a lesbian respectively. Because there is nothing within the text to suggest otherwise.

Their "bisexuality" just exists, so that no players are disappointed that they cannot romance a character. And maybe to make programming easier.

And again, the same is very much true for a lot of other CRPGs. Starfield comes to mind, like most Bathesda games. I mean, it is not quite the same, as for the most part the characters in Bathesda games read more like they do not have any sexuality at all (the fact, that the games are very squeaky clean on the sexual front most certainly plays into it). But the problem is very much the same.

To me it just reads as super biphobic. Because it feels like they can use bisexuality to serve their purpose.

I am fine with the characters being bisexual. No matter what game. But then actually put in the work to write them as bisexual. Make it part of their story. Don't just slap the "bisexual" label onto them, so they can be romanced by whoever.
