I’ve been thinking about omegaverse WangXian AU and I’m so not normal about it

Basically, WWX was always known as a beta by people around him, constantly hiding his scent and on such heavy suppressors he’d practically never have a heat. When the Wens take all of the young cultivators/clan heirs or whatever he no longer has access to that kind of stuff and it’s only so long before the medication’s effect goes away.

In the big carnivorous turtle cave he can feel his omega-ness slowly come back so he’s desperate to get out away from all the young alphas and betas he’s surrounded by. Things go as cannon and only him and LWJ are left in the cave and LWJ??? Well he’s not doing too well, neither of them are with their fevers, being stuck in a cave alone and pheromones- oh yea LWJ is in rut too lol

So they do their do in the cave, escaping out and then WWX runs off after making the other man swear he’s not gonna tell anyone that WWX is an omega.

During the attack on Lotus Pier WQ pulls WWX aside asking if he knows about the kit in his womb. WWX, freaking out about it swears her to secrecy. He’s been… kinda aware about it over the month or two that’s past, but just used his high level of cultivation to just keep it in a dormant state.

When he gives JC his core such a thing isn’t an option. He doesn’t want his child to live during a time of war so he promises himself to end the war against the Wens before his birth.

He levels up his demotic cultivation at way faster of a pace, easily out numbering any bad Wen troops, cutting off the supply lines, anything to get an advantage. His tactics are often called brutal, disgusting but most of the Sunshot doesn’t care because whoever is doing it is on their side.

Keeps following cannon but now LWJ has just a totally weird feeling in his gut all the time. He swears he can feel WWX’s emotions, the stress, the fear, the agony all of it. When he finally lays eyes on who he knows is WWX as the man takes down WC and he can’t help but feel relief. Relief that after nine months (WWX froze his pregnancy for like two months so he’s about eight and half along) he’s finally able to see the man he’s fallen in love with, that he spent a rut with while the man was in heat.

WWX doesn’t acknowledge him.

He doesn’t even really acknowledge JC, his little shidi who’s so excited to see him again. WWX remains quiet, a large cloak wrapped over his whole body

Instead of properly interacting with his friends he instead asks when their plan to attack the nightless city is (he has less then two months, and by god he wants peace of mind that his child won’t be born in a war). He lets them take him to the war camp, discussing with the leaders like LXC and NMJ to move the battle forward, saying that he can balance out the sides.

They agree and that’s that.

At the final battle WWX holds up the tiger sigil, controlling more undead then he ever has. He watches as the rest of the tyrannical Wens get torn apart, their army in ruins before NMJ takes their leader’s head. Some of them still fight, and in a blaze of glory WWX destroys the tiger sigil, creating a bright light that takes out more of the Wen’s army, any of the roaming undead and himself.

LWJ feels his blood go cold. He can’t feel WWX suddenly. He canthecanthecant.

Where did his omega go?

Back in Yiling WWX falls to the ground, any last remains of his power, spiritual or demonic finally shredded into pieces. WQ helps him recuperate, Wen Yuan at his bed side as he looks up.

It’s then and there WWX smiles as he promises himself a normal life, patting A-Yuan’s head and scenting him like he’s his own kit.

Two years later.

LWJ feels lost, constantly wandering around for something, any sign of WWX. He’s looking at hair ribbons in a market outside of Yiling, a beautiful red ribbon with lotuses embroidered in it. He jolts as he feels a hold on his leg, looking down curiously.

“Baba?” The little kid asks, no more then two years old. A six year old huffs as he goes over, bowing his head in apology to LWJ.

“Sorry Mister, my brother gets confused.” Wei Yuan huffs, pulling his younger brother away. LWJ sucks a breath in as he looks at the young toddler, tan skin, enchanting yellow eyes, perfectly straight hair except with the tips granted a slight curl.

There’s no denying this is a Lan child, just from looks alone, but the scent surrounding both of the children? That’s something LWJ had smelt once, trapped in the cave in the throes of passion with his mate.

Wei Wuxian. Wei Ying is alive.

A young looking man pulls the children away before LWJ can say anything. The man picks up the two year old and gently holds him in his arms, the six year old grabbing onto the man’s leg, still glaring at the alpha.

“Sorry about that, sir.” A soft voice rumbles with a chuckle, freezing as he looks up at LWJ for the first time.

im delirious with sleep but a/b/o au where omega wei wuxian thinks every alphas scent smells disusting. like wet dog, but lan wangji smells like literal heaven. he doseng understand the implications of this, no not because hes stupid but because his brain stops working and the strong, powerful omega who made it in the top ranks among highborn alphas becomes a blushing maiden. lan wangji is just as intoxicated with wei wuxians scent but he dosent really know how to go about courting wei wuxian also he thinks wei wuxian sees him as juat a friend. that is, until one a fateful day in the library pavilion when lan wangjis in pre rut, which means his scent is stronger than usual, wei wuxian gets practically drunk on the scent (perhaps triggering his own pre heat?????) and this is basically their interaction:

wwx: lan zhan, you should stop gatekeeping your secrets and tell the other alphas how you manage to smell fantastic all the time! perhaps they can learn from u and stop smelling like wet dog sall the time lol

lwj: wei ying! shameless!

wwx: but im just telling the truth! i bet you so many omegas probably want your scent in their nest. maybe other alphas would have the slightest chance againt you in all your beautiful glory if you just spilled your secrets to them

Yes they do, cuz I say so. But I am limiting Wen Ning's alpha-ness to just scents, being able to mate/bond and using the bond to feel what his mate feels. No sex for poor dead guy oop. Zilia, this isnt just for Jaq, this is for you too because you're the first person in my orbit who started chanting "NingXian. NingXian. NingXian".

Instead of 500 words, have 4.1k (what a horrible number) words instead!

“Are you alright?” He couldn’t hide the concern in his tone. Wei Wuxian had just come out after his self-imposed heat confinement and he looked terrible. He was gorgeous as always of course, but the Burial Mounds were hard on the Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation too. Although the way he looked now was way worse than he usually did which seemed impossible yet here they were.

“I am fine, all good, see?” He assured or tried to. The hoarseness of his voice gave away how long he had been screaming for an alpha who would never come. Wen Ning was seeing alright.

“Sit here, I’ll bring some broth. Heats are already hard on omegas and they get worse if you intentionally starve yourself.” He pushed him to sit on a fallen log and Wei Wuxian startled, a guilty expression contorting his face. Wen Ning had a good idea of the self-sacrificial bullshit going on in the omega’s head that made him so reckless with himself.

When he handed the bowl to him, Wei Wuxian immediately began employing his puppy eyes. Now, Wen Ning wasn’t a strong man, wasn’t one even in life and as an alpha, he really couldn’t remain unaffected by an omega he cared for but this was ridiculous. “Eat,” he said and the omega pouted harder.

“This is too much A-Ning! We could give half of it to A-Yuan, or Popo or-“

“Eat,” he simply said but then decided he much rather keep vigil unless Wei Wuxian tried sneaking away to give his food over. “Want me to feed you?” He asked and Wei Wuxian grinned and nodded.

The smile left his face when Wen Ning took the bowl from him and his cheeks darkened to a rare rosy hue that would have Wen Ning swooning if he wasn’t busy trying to coddle him. He’ll revisit that sight and fixate on it later. Right now, he was going to enjoy Wei Wuxian sputtering about not being an invalid. The omega wasn’t the only one who could turn the tables and fluster others. 

“This is ridiculous, I could’ve shared this much food with someone. It's being wasted on-”

“Xian-ge!” He turned and widened his eyes, pouting slightly and Wei Wuxian gulped and clamped his mouth shut. Wen Ning wasn’t above playing dirty and he knew exactly how susceptible Wei Wuxian was to his own puppy eyes. Hell even Jiejie wasn’t above falling for them so who was Wei Wuxian in the grand scheme of disguised manipulation?

“You don’t fight fair,” he whined and focused his attention back on the bowl, as if glaring would make it vanish into thin air A beat of silence passed as Wei Wuxian scowled and then downed the entire bowl in one go, sputtering about radishes and the lack of spice.

Hey. Omegaverse AU where the rural peasant village is exclusively alphas and betas because omegas are a sort of monstrosity of the gods and nature with siren-call scents and long fangs perfect for ensnaring an alpha to ensure they can’t run away before the knot takes.

The rut cycle isn’t really A Thing in its full capacity either because of herbal medicine/magic/lack of omega pheromones BUT once every generation an alpha is chosen as a sacrifice to the omega of the woods outside their village as a peace agreement so the omega can sire the next generation of omegas without needing to raid the village.

The alpha, who has never entered a rut, who only knows of omegas as near-mythic beasts ready to eat an alpha alive as soon as the knot deflates. The alpha getting hit by their first encounter of an omega in heat’s scent and it immediately triggering their first rut.

The omega, who has been raised by the previous generation’s, who has known their entire lives their sole purpose is to mate and breed, is ready to kill this alpha as soon as its served its purpose, but their heart breaks watching this poor puppy fall to their knees in pain, knot already threatening to swell as they pant at the air like they’re trying to drink the omega’s scent, but it only makes the feelings of rut worse as they start to tear off their clothes and beg for the omega to appear from the shadows and have mercy upon them.

The omega descends, not like a black widow as they intended, but a source of comfort— promising they’ll make the pain go away, they’ll take care of the poor alpha, brushing away their tears and pushing them on their back so they can sink down on their lap.

They mate — of course they do, that’s the whole point of the treaty — but the omega doesn’t hate the ordeal by the end of it. Their alpha is sweet, and only touches them after permission is given, and it’s very clear from their scent they would never hurt the omega. They will be a good mate, the omega decides. The idea of an MDZS omegaverse au is so funny to me because I just know Alan Wangji would not last a week around Wei Wuxian in such an au without jumping his bones no matter the designation

Especially since Wei Wuxian would practically be blasting his affection for Lan Wangji through his scent for the world to see

Alpha Lan Wangji wouldn’t last ten minutes around Omega Wei Wuxian without spilling every horny thought he has ever had through his scent and I think that’s wonderful.

This could be particularly fun/messy if presentation was later, so like through the Cloud Recesses arc they’re their normal selves and everyone is 100% sure they are two alphas-to-be already fighting over territory, but then the burning of Cloud Recesses makes Lan Wangji present early as an alpha so he is doubly fighting for his sanity through the Xuanwu of Slaughter thing because his instincts are in overdrive telling him to protect and care for a clearly hurt/sick Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian pouts for days after he finally wakes up back home and he doesn’t smell like Lan Wangji anymore because they had to bathe him. He thinks this is completely normal and not a sign of anything at all.

Then Lotus Pier falls, then Wei Wuxian gives up his core, then he’s thrown in the Burial Mounds.

Then he comes back, and the scent of feral omega around him is stronger than anyone has ever experienced in their lives but no one dares to say he shouldn’t be on the front lines after he turns Wen Chao into minced meat.

The only alpha he can stand to be close to for months without growling or flashing red eyes at them for so much as breathing is Lan Wangji. He still thinks this is completely normal. Just like he thinks it’s normal to ask Lan Wangji to help him through a heat during the Campaign because an unaccompanied omega in heat in a war camp is a bad idea just in general but even more of a bad idea when that omega is a one man army who can and will wipe out their own side if he panics while unable to think clearly. (Also not having an alpha hurts and Wei Wuxian really doesn’t want to go through that again not that he wil admit to anyone even himself that this is part of the reason why he asks). Lan Wangji punches down a few trees before coming back and agreeing.

No one is surprised neither of them make it through that heat unmated.
