CherryTree for Windows
When it comes to note-taking applications, many people think of Evernote, Microsoft OneNote, or Google Keep. However, CherryTree offers something different. It is not just a simple note-taking app—it is a structured documentation tool designed for those who need hierarchical note organization, rich-text editing, and syntax highlighting. Unlike many modern note-taking apps that focus on…

Disclaimer: none of these answers are official, and may not work for your particular use case. If there is a specific feature that an unofficial app had that you don't know how to replicate on the AO3, let me know in the notes and we might can crowdsource a solution.
A lot of people used the Archive Reader app to access stories on Archive of Our Own, and have been upset that the app is now charging to read longer than an hour a day. AO3 (and its parent organization, the OTW) has made it extremely clear in recent days that this app is unofficial and that there *is* no official app. They encourage people to use the website.
However, there are MANY reasons you might want an app, and in a bunch of those cases, there are ways to do those things without having to provide your login information to a random person running an app. Here is a round-up of solutions to the most common reasons I've seen people give for wanting an app instead of the plain AO3 website.
These solutions are based on the following assumptions:
You know what Archive of Our Own is
You often or primarily access it through a mobile device running iOS or Android
You understand what a browser is
You understand what a browser bookmark is
You understand what a site skin is
Edits:
Edited to clarify that you must be logged in to use custom site skins
Edited to add more tips and tricks from the reblogs
Edited to add new entry about notifications/emails
Edited to add new entry about reading statistics and the tracking thereof
I need a widget on my phone's homescreen, not just a browser bookmark.
You can do this with any website, not just AO3! Instructions here: https://www.howtogeek.com/196087/how-to-add-websites-to-the-home-screen-on-any-smartphone-or-tablet/
I need Dark Mode.
AO3 has a default site skin for Dark Mode, it's just called Reversi. Find it here, or at the bottom of any page on the website. https://archiveofourown.org/skins/929/
If you'd like Dark Mode on your whole browser (and you're on Android), sorrelchestnut has advice here: https://www.tumblr.com/sorrelchestnut/737869282153775104/if-you-want-dark-mode-and-dont-want-to-mess
I need to be able to read stories when I don't have internet.
Every work on the AO3 has a download button, so you can click on that and download the story for offline reading in the ereader app of your choice. More info on how to do that is in the AO3 FAQs: https://archiveofourown.org/faq/downloading-fanworks?language_id=en#accesslater
I need to be able to change the text size of the website itself.
If you have an AO3 account (and you should!!) you can do this with a personalized site skin! There is a simple tutorial here: https://www.tumblr.com/ao3skin/667284237718798336/i-have-a-request-if-you-dont-mind-could-you
I need to be able to change the text size in downloaded stories.
My personal recommendation: Don't download in PDF format. All the other formats you can download in can scale the text size up and down, assuming you open the work in the correct app. For me, I download works in EPUB format and read them on the built-in Books app on my iPhone. I hear good things about Moon Reader on Android as well.
I need to be able to replace Y/N in fics with an actual name.
ElectricAlice has a bookmarklet for that here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/34796935
I need to be able to save specific tags and not have to search them up every time.
If you have an AO3 account (which you definitely should) then you can favorite up to 20 tags which will appear on the landing page. The AO3 FAQ explains how that works: https://archiveofourown.org/faq/tags?language_id=en#favtag
I need to be able to save specific filters and be able to apply them to any tag.
Reisling's beautiful bookmarklet has you covered: https://archiveofourown.org/works/33825019
I need to be able to permanently hide certain tags.
The best option is adding this to your site skin. (Must be logged in.) Instructions here: https://www.tumblr.com/ao3css/719667033634160640/how-to-permanently-filter-out-certain-tags-on-ao3
I also hear things about the AO3 Enhancements extension (just for Android/desktop, sorry iOS folks): https://www.tumblr.com/emotionalsupportrats/686787582579851265/browser-extension-everyone-on-ao3-should-know
I need it to save my place on the page and not reload.
This is really mostly a browser error--Firefox on iOS does this to me A LOT. Your best bet is to download the work and read it in an ereader app. A lot of people also will make an ao3 bookmark and write in the notes section which part they were at, but that assumes you aren't falling asleep while reading. (Which is the main reason I have this issue, lol.) For more info on bookmarks, see the FAQ: https://archiveofourown.org/faq/bookmarks?language_id=en#whatisbookmark
I need it to keep track of which stories I've already read/opened/kudos'd.
If you have an account (which you should) then the "My History" page keeps track of every fic you've ever clicked on. No, it isn't searchable or sortable, but it does exist. For fics you've kudos'd, I have yet to find a solution for iOS. For desktop or Android, you can use this excellent userscript: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/5835-ao3-kudosed-and-seen-history
@the-sleepy-archivist and @inkandarsenic have a solution for iOS here to use userscripts: https://www.tumblr.com/the-sleepy-archivist/737895174683885568/this-is-a-great-guide-one-thing-i-can-help-with and https://www.tumblr.com/inkandarsenic/737827438571192320/the-user-scripts-will-also-work-on-ios-there-are
I need an app because the website's search is terrible.
(I genuinely don't understand this one but I have seen it multiple times so on the list it goes!!) The search bar at the top of the screen is a keyword search. If you'd rather search within a specific field (like title or tag) then you'll want to click on the word "search" at the top of the screen and select Work Search or Tag Search. To search users, use People Search. To search Bookmarks, use Bookmark Search. (If this is you, please tell me what the heck you mean by "search is bad" and how an app helped with this.)
I need to be able to sort stories by date posted/number of bookmarks/alphabetical/etc.
You can do this using the filters sidebar. Pick a tag you want to filter on (like a fandom, character, or relationship) and then click on the "Filters" button. The sidebar will pop out and you can sort and filter on a boggling array of specifics. A good filtering guide: https://www.tumblr.com/saurons-pr-department/718665516093472768/if-there-is-something-you-dont-want-to-see-in
I need to be able to mark stories to read later.
AO3 has this feature built in! If you have an account (which you should) there is a "Mark for Later" option on every work.
Edit: Thispersonishuman reminded me that History and Mark For Later can be disabled, so if you're not seeing the Mark for Later option, check your settings.
I need to be able to listen to stories using text-to-speech.
Microsoft Edge web browser has a built in text to speech function. Supposedly it works on both iOS and Android, but I have not personally tested that. iOS also has a native accessibility feature in settings for text to speech that will work on the Books app, so I assume Android has a similar functionality. A bunch of people in the reblogs have more in-depth Android recommendations here: https://www.tumblr.com/protect-namine/737957194510794752/seconding-voice-aloud-on-android-for-tts-my, https://www.tumblr.com/smallercommand/737884523093704704/i-use-voice-for-tts-on-android-its-got-some, and https://www.tumblr.com/doitninetimes/737869463749263360/for-text-to-speech-on-android-you-can-also-check
I need to have in-app notifications for updates/I can't ever find story updates in among the rest of my emails/checking my email stresses me out.
Set up a separate email address using a free service like gmail, and use that email address JUST for AO3. Then the only emails in that inbox will be your story updates. I use Apple's Mail application for all my inboxes, but it's very easy to use the Gmail app instead, and you could log in to JUST the ao3 email and set it to notify for every email.
(Also as a general PSA: don't use your work, school, or military email as your AO3 email. Just don't.)
I want statistics like how many hours I spent reading, how many words I read, what my most read tags were, stuff like that.
So we've finally hit something that isn't easy and that requires a hell of a lot of manual work. Short version: AO3 does not track this data because they don't want to. (Mostly due to privacy concerns.) The lack of this tracking is a feature, not a bug. You can crunch these numbers yourself, but it will take a hell of a lot more effort, and it's something I personally found is not worth the effort the couple of times I have tried to crunch those numbers. If you are willing to download your history to an actual computer (not a tablet or chromebook) using Calibre, you can get a rough idea of your most popular tags via their tag browser, but it won't play nice with typos synned to a Common Tag (Canonical Tag/filterable tag) like ao3 does. (If anyone has used an app that gave you stats on this, please let me know in reblogs/replies/via ask how that worked because I am very curious.)
I need an app because <other reason>.
The AO3 Unofficial Browser Tools FAQ might cover your use case: https://archiveofourown.org/faq/unofficial-browser-tools?language_id=en If not, give a shout and we'll see what other tumblr users suggest!

HOT GAMEDEVS DON'T GATEKEEP
Inspired by this post by @midwinterhunt, here's a compilation of all the game dev resources I have come across, most of which I use fairly frequently. Most of these are free, some are paid but fairly cheap. Feel free to add your own resources. ✌️
Important reminder: When using basically any works or programs someone else created in your games, make sure you thoroughly understand the licenses and terms it has been shared with. If you don't know what the terms are, reach out to the resource and ask. Don't be lazy about this; it's not only dishonest but it can come back to bite you.
Engines
Unity - Best suited for mobile and multi-platform.
Unreal - Tailored for shooters and high-fidelity experiences.
PICO-8 - Virtual console for simple games
Godot - Open source and free!
GameMaker - Good for 2D games
Bitsy - Great little engine for making simple games and experiences
Construct - Never used but have heard nice things
Scratch - If you've never coded before, this is the best place to start. Great for young devs and those who want to get their feet wet.
Adventure Game Studio - Best suited for adventure games
RPG Maker - Best suited for top-down classic JRPG style games
Twine - Text-centric games like Interactive Fiction
Assets
OpenGameArt - Many assets, various licenses, and plenty of CC0 content.
Unity Store - For Unity only. Some free.
Unreal Store - For Unreal only. Some free.
Godot Asset Library
Jean Moreno's Toon Effects - Some of the best effects available on the Unity store. Unity only but I've used them in basically every project.
Steamworks.net C# Wrapper For Unity - Unity only C# wrapper for integrating Steam compatibility to your game
Itch.io - Plenty of free art assets and game dev resources
Kenney - Kenney makes tons of open-source assets for devs to use.
Art
Mixamo - Generates rigs for your humanoid models and lets you apply a library of free humanoid animations to them. Super helpful for prototyping. Adobe.
Blender - Free, open source and fully featured 3D program.
XNormal - Free offline normal map generator
Normal Map Online - Free online normal map generator
Crocotile - Cheap tool for building 3D models from sprite sheets
MagicaVoxel - Free voxel modelling tool
Piskel - Free online sprite drawing tool
Aesprite - Paid sprite drawing tool
TurboSquid - Not always great quality, but can be good source of free placeholders.
Textures.com - Limited texture downloads per day but free for personal use.
Pexels - Free stock photo resource. Most are free for commercial use. Check licenses.
Clipstudio - Good for illustration or graphic design. One time payment.
GIMP - Image editing program a-la Photoshop. Free.
Audio
Audacity - Free and fully-featured DAW/audio editor.
sfx.me - Free 8-bit synth-style sound effect generator for games.
CastingCallClub - Easy forum to find amateur voice talent for your project (p.s.: you should pay them).
FreeSound.org - Free sounds, searchable by license. A go-to for my audio needs.
Incompetech - Royalty-free music by Kevin McLeod.
Scott Buckley Music - Royalty free with conditions. Generally more on the cinematic side of things but very good stuff!
SoundCloud - 'Search -> By Track -> Filter: Use Commercially' leads to songs posted with allowance of commercial use. Always reach out to the artist to understand their terms and confirm that it's okay to use with your project.
Project Planning
Keymailer - Handy for mailing keys to influencers (don't expect a lot of traction unless you're paying for some of the features though).
Trello - Kanban board. Great for organizing tasks, managing bugs, etc. Free.
Notion - Private text and wiki page editor. Good for project organization, note taking, and fleshing out ideas. Free.
Obsidian - Alternative to Notion, with similar features.
Miro - Free whiteboard for organizing thoughts, images, brainstorming, etc.
Wave - Free Bookkeeping site. Great for keeping finances organized.

Fallen Angel AU - Cyn's Disassembly Drone Design
Theme
Finally got around to clean up the sketch & give her proper coloring >:]] I felt like the blue as main color fit her way better than yellow or pink (which was my first choice, but felt too bold).
Some more context, story parts & design notes below the cut!
The mark on her chest (both the glowing cross and the marking she has in place of the Disassembly Drone one) shows where the USB patch was injected into her (or better said, Cynessas) chest.
Was exorcised by the USB patch (which was preserved and not destroyed as Nori kept it by her side the entire time, not allowing N to give it to "Uzi" in the cathedral) - it was stabbed directly into her chest and core, which caused the AS to retreat and become dormant, allowing Cyn's OS to overtake and her becoming aware again.
Her body is entirely re-made, the only thing that is from her old body is her core & OS.
The blue cross is like a light projection and has no mass - it cannot be touched, removed nor does it react to any outside sources outside of Cyn's own OS (it disappears when she's offline/sleeps).
Like it's said on the sheet, the nanites in her vial aren't acid but rather a healing fluid - they can either be injected into a Drone's body or dripped onto a wound to aid in the healing progress. It doesn't matter if the Drone they're applied to has regenerative powers or not, they work on anyone!
She remembers her time as Cynessa and having Tessa's skin grafted to her old Drone body, which is a very surpressed memory she tries to forget about as much as possible.
Appears very sweet & timid on the outside, but can just be as much of a menance as you'd suspect her to be. Goes feral when she's confronted with things she likes or when you hit the 'sweet spot', lol.
Spent some time shut down after being exorcised in the finale, which created memory issues with the events her exorcism she can't really recount. It's for the best, though.
Dormant Solver User, has regenerative powers and organic insides/blood, but cannot (and doesn't want to) use the Solver abilities other Users such as e.g Uzi have.
No one really knows why she has the light halo - it just appeared and similar to the cross disappears when Cyn sleeps or goes offline.
Has wings, but isn't a confident flyer. She gets lessons from N and Uzi though! Her wings are similar in shape to SD-D's and SD-Y's wings with membrane shaped like feathered wings instead of having the bladed feathers.

Can we get the Scavengers with a gn human reader from your AU? The one where you're a liaison for Earth?
Thanks!
Scavengers x Reader [MTMTE]
In which you've been adopted into the Scavenger crew and have to find ways to survive with their minimal supplies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first few weeks with them were the easiest in terms of supplies because you'd yet to run out of rations
Years of training to take off into space prepared you; you had seeds, artificial lights, heat lamps, and a water filter that could serve up to twenty people at once
Until Misfire stepped on it
They do their best to fix it, and you had all the training to make it from scratch
Except it was completely condensed and you'd have to find all the materials to build it again, an unforseen consequence
Thankfully, you can make stops at popular organic planets, which all carry water to stock up, but it's still a setback
The first to accept you is Crankcase, who has gone through similar training to you and whom you can bond with regarding flight training
Hes content to have you in the cockpit with him and shows you around steering a ship
Having you certainly beats autopilot when he has to step away
Misfire and Krok are next; they don't really care enough to push you away, especially since you scored them a huge deal that let them repair the WAP
Misfire is in charge of keeping you stocked on water and helping you locate materials to make a new filter
Hes also in charge of paying for it
Krok is more non chalant
He doesn't owe you anything, you owe him nothing
But he might get fussy if you contest his leadership
YES he CAN tell you're disagreeing just to upset him and it pisses him off
Spinister is iffy about you, humans are weird and small and he doesn't get your intentions at all
Why would a human want to be in space with them? It must have been for nefarious reasons
Even so, he forgets his issues pretty fast when you join in for their games, and shows a lot more self-restraint, seeing as he could easily overpower you if you tried to hurt him
Which, obviously you were planning on doing and he had to prepare for, duh
Fulcrum takes the longest for...obvious reasons
Humans could never do it for him, never ever ever ever
He never gets comfortable touching you or going near any of your stuff, but he does fund you quite funny and slowly eases into being around you
You might notice his optics go offline whenever he 'looks' at you
Offensive, but, you get it
If it keeps him from gagging, then whatever

Swindle Bakery AU!
Massachusetts, May 13th, 2155.
Swindle finds himself on Earth, nearly inches away from offlining. His entire frame aches, and his processor rings inside his helm. His data tracks can only replay a couple of memories before he slips into stasis mode. Bots chasing him, a shoot-out in an alien bar, him scanning a new alt mode, a ship crashing into the ground...
From there, it all goes black. Swindle didn't come back online until he found a little old lady seated behind the wheel, desperately trying to start the engine.
Swindle paused for a moment. When did this organic find him? What was she trying to do with him?
And when Swindle looked around and saw he was now parked at a car dealership, he wondered how he had managed to get himself there in the first place.
And he was horrified to find out that he didn't remember.
Summary
due to unfortunate circumstances involving a crash-landing and persecution from the Elite Guard, swindle finds himself back on Earth without any memory of how he got there. he's fortunate enough to find a sweet old lady, mabel, who offers him shelter while swindle tries to recollect his memories
during his stay, they both discover the other's talent. swindle nibbles on one of mabel's cookies (because he was damn near starving and couldn't find any energon or oil (and also he has a mod which allows him to digest some organic food, in case he's stranded without fuel)) and quickly becomes obsessed with mabel's baking
mabel, on the other hand, admires swindle for his knack for business. she laments how useful that skill must be and how she doesnt have it; maybe if she was more like swindle, she could save her dying bakery (which is like. 5 dollars away from bankruptcy lol)
the two then decide to strike a deal; swindle shares his expertise in exchange for a roof over his head (and an unlimited supply of treats). from there begins their alliance and they both start to reap the benefits from it in the form of profit.
what they both didn't expect to gain from this partnership, though, is a friendship

Just before the presidential election last November, Carolyn Fisher was in her living room in Birmingham, Alabama, when her nonbinary child walked in and said that he, along with four other transgender kids, were planning on dying by suicide if Donald Trump won the upcoming election.
Fisher and her husband were both lifelong Republicans and supporters of Trump. Holding a spiral notebook, Carolyn’s 16-year-old, who uses the pronouns he and they, made a case against voting for Trump.
“He laid out why a vote for Donald Trump was voting against him as our child and why Donald Trump should never be president. He had literally been keeping notes of everything Trump and other Republicans had been saying about trans and nonbinary people, how they were mentally delusional and mentally ill. When he laid all of that out, my husband and I, we both just looked at each other and started crying.”
Fisher, together with members of the Rainbow Youth Project, contacted the parents of the other children who were part of the pact.
The Fishers later voted for then-vice president Kamala Harris, even going so far as taking a picture of their ballot to show their child.
But Trump still won, and during the president’s inauguration speech on January 20, the Fishers heard him say that their child effectively doesn’t exist when he signed a sweeping executive order that, among other things, calls for the ending of trans care, requires housing trans women in male prisons, and allows only male or female markers on official documents like passports and not the “X” that was introduced in 2021 for people who identify as nonbinary, intersex, or gender nonconforming.
“As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female,” Trump said.
When a bishop at the National Cathedral service for the inauguration this week asked Trump to protect “gay, lesbian, and transgender children” the president dismissed her pleas in a Truth Social post and called her “nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart.”
The executive order contains provisions that require further federal action to become law, and this document should be viewed as a roadmap the Trump administration has drafted to signal what new rules they are planning on implementing. But experts say the order published this week, in conjunction with Trump’s very public comments, are designed to strike fear into the trans community.
“I think there's a huge amount of it that is just about fear, and a part of it is trying to scare people into compliance” Allison Chapman, a trans rights activist, tells WIRED. “Enforcement takes a lot of time, energy, and resources, so what we really need people to do is to not voluntarily comply in advance. There needs to be an active resistance to these things.”
The Rainbow Youth Project, an organization focused on helping young LGBTQ+ people, received over 6,000 calls in just the first couple of days after Trump’s November election win. That’s up from the usual 3,600 calls a month. It didn’t stop: The hotline received over 8,000 calls in December.
Now, after Trump’s comment and actions on the first day of his presidency, the group’s crisis helpline is once again receiving a torrent of calls. Sixty-two percent of incoming calls this week, the group tells WIRED, are from trans and gender-nonconforming adolescents age 14 to 17.
The callers are expressing varying degrees of emotional and mental distress, often expressing feelings of hopelessness and fear. One of the most common sentiments shared is “my country does not want me to exist.”
While the Trump administration’s actions are causing huge distress for the trans community and their families, a stark increase in the attacks, both online and offline, are already coming from Trump supporters who feel emboldened.
“We have already seen an uptick in the hate against us,” Fisher says. “We had someone who came to our home just last Tuesday and put a note in our mailbox that said: ‘He's your daddy now, he's your president. You people won't exist anymore.’ So yes, they're definitely emboldened.”
A trans pride flag they had hanging on their porch has been stolen twice in the space of a week. At her local Piggly Wiggly, a supermarket, she overheard people at an adjacent table talking about how glad they were that Trump had “gotten rid of” trans people.
“He didn’t get rid of them, they’re always going to exist—but he damn so put a target on them, especially my teenage son,” Fisher said.
And the attacks are also targeting the groups who are trying to help the LGBTQ+ community.
“We have seen a lot more hate,” Lance Preston, executive director of the Rainbow Youth Project, tells WIRED. “We've been receiving a lot of messages, crazy shit, like ‘Trump is your president, now all of you are gonna have to go away. We don't want you here.’ We get those in contact submission forms every day, and since the election it has just grown exponentially. It's really sad.”
Some activists are also concerned that those who have always stood with the LGBTQ+ community could be too scared to speak up under Trump’s new administration.
“Every time something like this happens we notice supporters backing down and just getting quiet,” Chris Sederburg, who helps trans and gender nonconforming people through the Rainbow Youth Project, tells WIRED. “Not all of them, but a lot of them do because they're scared of what's happening. They're scared of what might happen to them or they might catch hate for it.”
Sederburg, a trans man who works as a trucker, communicates with young trans people on social media and says that the response this week from the community has been one of “intense, immediate fear.”
For Jamie Anderson, a 40-year-old teacher living in Texas, her biggest fear is that Trump’s administration forces her 15-year-old daughter Dawn, who came out as trans last year, to make a traumatic decision.
“My biggest worry is that she's going to have to go back to living a lie, like not being who she is meant to be,” says Anderson. “She's happy now, she's a lot happier than she was right before she came out. She was super depressed. We had no idea what was going on. And finally she comes out, and she's this whole brand-new, amazing, loving child.”
But that’s not Dawn’s biggest fear. When WIRED asked what that would be, Dawn remained silent. Moments after the interview, Dawn sent a message: “I am afraid the government will take me away and end up killing me because I am transgender,” adding that she was now willing to share this in case “it might help others understand what I’m going through.”
(Jamie and Dawn are not the women’s real names. WIRED is using pseudonyms to protect their identities.)
The Fishers, meanwhile, are considering moving to a different state, possibly to California, where they feel their child would be more protected. But Carolyn Fisher worries about other families and trans and nonbinary children who may not have that option.
“I just want these kids to know that there are people out there, even Republicans, even conservative Christians, who love them and accept them for the way they are, and we want them to stay here with us,” Fisher says.

I had an ANGSTY idea
I imagine a scene where it's just a normal day at the base where the children are just hanging out and talking with their guardians (optimus and ratchet are over seeing decepticon activity)
somehow the topic of how long humans lives are comes up. The kids are oblivious to what they just revealed to the bots and seconds after this fact is shared all the bots freeze with realization and horror dawns on them.
Now whenever the bots are with the kids they act more happier and more willing to do what the kids want (and alot more protective) but under the facade is nothing but depression and sadness (the kids still oblivious)
Oh and optimus has a breakdown since he sees them as his own sparklings
Angst my old friend. I love this concept.
━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙ ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙
It was not exactly a secret when it came to the short lives of organics compared to Cybertronians. The team were well aware that most organics tended to only live as long as a few centuries at best and possibly a millennia or two with technological adaptations. For them the lives of organics were still but a passing wind, but at least with a few centuries there was time for Cybertronians to grow close to their organic comrades. The team had each met other organics before and during the war, they knew how the organics near Cybertron worked for the most part. Thus they were not particularly concerned with the humans, although they did wonder why they grew so quickly and seemed to deteriorate with such swiftness when they had centuries left ahead of them.
The team largely did not think too much on the biological functioning of the humans and instead focused on their work. Despite that, eventually one particular Prime found himself uncertain.
Optimus found it particularly confusing how humans seemed to die so young all the time. In his free time he took joy in reading documents from Earth and learning their history. It seemed all of Earth's influential people died young. Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, Plato, Socrates, Sun Tzu, George Washington, and so many other influential figures, all dead before their second century of life. It concerned the Prime greatly, especially upon noting how involved the children, June, and Fowler were becoming in their activities. If there was some sort of genetic issue or other ailment that killed off those with influence, he needed to know immediately.
He brought his concerns to Ratchet who in turn gathered the attention of the team. This concern quickly spread and so as one unit the team researched human lives and reasons for offlinement. Before too long they came to the startling conclusion that almost every recorded human life ended when the human in question was around a century old. Some older religious and mythological records indicated that once upon a time humanity could indeed live for centuries, but that seemed to no longer be the case. Seeing this, fear for their charges wormed its way into the sparks of the team. Why were the humans dying so young? What happened to humanity to shorten their lives so drastically? Were their young charges doomed to die in the same manner?
Those questions haunted the team and in the end they decided to simply ask the children to see if there was some form of cultural misunderstanding causing them distress. The children were of course a little confused and it ended up being June who had to explain as the team huddled around, eager to understand and see if there was any way to stop the impending deaths of their wards.
Optimus: I have studied your history and it seems in the last few millennia humanity has failed to live longer than a century at most. Why is that?
June: We only live so long Optimus. We aren't big metal aliens from space like you.
Ratchet: That is true, but we have met organics before. Those that interacted with Cybertron before the war generally lived at least two centuries.
June: I-
Bulkhead: Is there some sort of illness killing you off?
Arcee: Maybe a conspiracy? I've heard of some organic civilizations killing off the older members of their population.
Bumblebee: *Is someone hurting you? We will stop them in that case!*
Optimus: Bumblebee is correct. If your race is under threat, we will gladly assist in stopping the needless death.
June: What? No. What you read are old myths, stories made up by humanity during various ages. They aren't real, we don't live much longer than a century and we never have.
Ratchet: What? But your historical records-!
June: Stories Ratchet. Just stories. Humans usually live around ninety years before we die. That is just the way of things.
Bulkhead: Then the kids-
June: Just like every human before them, they will grow old, and then when their time is up, they will die.
Not a word was uttered at the team slowly scattered, each considering what had been revealed to them. Suddenly a great deal had changed, and not a spark could change things.
Arcee had lost plenty of partners over her long life, but a human? And to old age of all things? She was terrified of that end. She would have to watch as he deteriorated and his frame failed him. How could she look at Jack and not imagine the way his skin would gain wrinkles and how his youthful energy would fade away into the bone deep weariness she observed in the elder humans she noted from a distance. A century was not long, it was hardly the Cybertronian equivalent of a year. Her boy was going to perish before she knew it, and there was not a thing she could do to stop it. Tears were useless, and yet in the quiet of her quarters she wept until she steeled herself. She would give her boy all the affection and care she could over his lifetime, and hopefully in doing so, she could ease the ache of loss that was to come.
Bulkhead was left not as grieved and more saddened above all else. It was easier for him to handle the concept of youthful deaths in organics due to his long service with the wreckers and their allies. He was not upset at Miko dying long before him. No, what saddened him was that she would never have the chance to be a wrecker on a restored Cybertron. By the time their world was restored and things put into motion, he small body would have deteriorated enough to make being a wrecker near impossible for her, at least if she wished to be active. That chance was going to be denied to her because of her fleshy frame, and that above all else had him offering as much opportunity to let her be a wrecker as possible. She would not see the height of Cybertronian military and rescue efforts, but she would have a taste of it, that was his promise.
Bumblebee for his part panicked. He knew organics didn't live long, but he had not expected Rafael's life to come to an end so soon. If Rafael lived according to human standards, he would be dead before Bumblebee's next forging day. He had grown to care deeply for the child, and so while he was no fool and well used to death and the concept of it, his spark still panged with loss. Not knowing what else to do, he threw himself into spending time with Rafael as much as he could outside of patrols and battles. If his friend was going to die so soon, Bumblebee was going to try and be there as a comfort for as long as possible. He tried not to think about the fact that his human companion would perish and silenced any discussion of it when he could. He knew Rafael and every other living being would die eventually, he saw death, he was well acquainted with it, and yet still he was not fond of inviting it by considering it too deeply.
Ratchet was neither particularly shocked or upset, but he was somewhat saddened as he looked over June and the children. He was old, very old. He had been around far longer than even Optimus. Death was not a stranger to him, and he merely found himself nodding along when June spoke the truth. There was nothing to be done and he doubted the children would care for augmentations to extend their lives when all their peers would perish long before they would in that situation. He merely sighed and came to be more gentle with the children. They were incredibly young, even by the standards of their own species. They would not live to see their star go out, and that was likely for the best. To him it was best to let them live a life not burdened by the concept of eternity.
Optimus was quiet after the revelation. He kept to himself for a time, thinking, contemplating, and considering. He knew that his organic charges were not to last, but he had not expected their lives to be so short. His spark cried within him, saddened at what was in his mind, the imminent deaths of several sparklings. He knew of cases where sparklings came from the Well too weak to last. In those situations they were tended to with love and care until at last their small frames failed them and they returned to Primus. It was not the same since the humans would be able to live up to their full potential by their species' standards long before death came for them. But to a Cybertronian? They would not last longer than a Cybertronian year, and that brought him grief. There had been no young for so long, and now those he had come to care for were going to perish so soon? He did not like to consider it and so locked the sorrow away and followed Ratchet's lead, tending to the humans with gentleness and grace.
In response to the team's conflicting emotions, the children found themselves treated with far more kindness than before. Jack was given rights to ride with Arcee far more often and no longer did she try to dismiss him as much. Bulkhead, and later Wheeljack once he understood the situation, took every care to train Miko as a true wrecker, giving her weapons and opportunity she would never have otherwise. Bumblebee went out of his way to speak with Rafael, to tell him stories, and to otherwise speak of all he had seen in order to give his human ward a vision of that which he would never experience due to his short life. Ratchet did not change his behavior much, but he was less hasty in his wrath and spoke to June, more willing to learn human medicine and customs. Optimus fell to offering gifts and wisdom to the humans under his care. He could not be there for them as he would with normal sparklings, but he could show them wonders and offer the wisdom of ages long gone by.
The children found it strange but did not object to the additional attention until it started to grow somewhat suffocating. Only then did they ask why.
Jack: Look, as much as I like being able to go for rides whenever I want, why are you being so nice?
Miko: Yeah, and why are you being so... sad about everything?
Rafael: Is something wrong?
Arcee: Its nothing like that we just-
Ratchet, glaring at the rest of the team: You humans do not live long, at least not compared to us. You lives hardly make up one of our years. They are trying to treat you gently because they are upset about it.
Bulkhead: Well that's a bit of an exaggeration-
Ratchet: No its not.
Jack: Wait, so you mean that since we are going to die eventually, you are being nice to us?
Rafael: We are only teenagers, we aren't going to die anytime soon. There's no need to be sad.
Bumblebee, close to tears: *But there is! You are going to be dead in just over a year for us! And we can't do anything to stop it!*
Miko: Oh, so you are upset because we won't live as long as you.
Optimus: That would be correct... We have not had young of our own since Cybertron fell, and that was many vorns ago. To have you children in our lives has given us hope, and to now know you will not linger with us... we are sorrowful.
Ratchet: Don't stress yourselves over it.
There was little else to say after that revelation, but the children did what they could to comfort their functionally immortal guardians. It wasn't much, but a smile and a thank you every now and then eased the sorrow the team were blanketed in. The humans would die within the blink of an eye for a race from beyond the stars. But that did not stop them from enjoying what time they had.

A breakdown of apps you can use to communicate with your alters as separate people and write down information about them online and offline with their pros, cons, and a personal rating because I really needed it when I was new to being a system:
Note: by "PC" I mean any computer/macbook/etc. By "all devices" I mean PC, mobile, tablet, iPad, etc.
I apologize for mistakes in advance.
1. Antar: An app created to chat with your "inner self," found in both Play Store and AppStore. One of the more popular ones among systems. It is an app where you get to create personas that would be chatting with each other in chats called "sessions." Those sessions can either be given a name or just left named after the date they were created on. Each persona is given a color that would become the color of their messages in sessions. Offline app.
Pros: Fiarly easy to use, no in-depth information needed to access it fully. Biometric lock; 4 languages (English, Chinese, Hindi, Spanish) for the system, however any language can be used via text; no limit to the amount of personas added (as far as I'm aware). Messages sent by the wrong persona can be changed; the "quote" feature allows you to start a thread under a message; provides descriptions of each persona. You can also give your personas an avatar rather than just a color. Has a "replay" and "visualization" feature, though I'd say it's strictly just for funzies.
Cons: Not available on PC; has no backup, phone-related resets or deletion of the app results in all information lost. Session order constantly changes depending on which senssion you entered, which in my opinion (+OCD) is a nuisance; you can't delete the "me" character which I've been wanting to do for a while. Can't add hexcodes.
Personal rating: 6/10. If you need an app that you can lock from unwanted visitors, if you don't mind and even prefer something simple, and if you don't care that the conversations might disappear, this app is a good choice.
2. Discord's PluralKit: A more avdanced discord bot with tons of settings and commands that was created specifically for systems. Allows you to add almost any information about your system memebers, even such things as birthdays. The way it works is, it "proxies" your messages with a certain command somewhere in the "normal" message, sends a message identical to yours from a bot created with the name you chose, and deletes your original message. Basically replaces a message from your account with a message from a bot you created earlier. Proxies are small commands that give the both a green light to do that, and they can be whatever you want them to be. Online bot.
Pros: Feels like different people are talking; allows you to track your switches; available on all devices; one system can be linked to multiple accounts, although you can't create multiple systems under one account; allows you to group alters together; allows you to restrict access to certain information from all users; allows you to add as many alters as you want; has a number of ways you can access the information you put in which would all be sorted and organized for you; autoproxy allows you to not proxy every message you sent; since you can't delete messages of other people on servers that are not yours, and the bot messages are not, in fact, yours, PluralKit allows you to react to the message with an emoji that deletes the proxied message; while you can't use it in DMs, you can set up commands in DMs with the bot; every memeber has a unique code, and so does the system itself, and it records when the member was created; can be exported to SimplyPlural.
Cons: Commands are difficult and complex, and so is the dashboard; can only be used on servers; sometimes offline as all bots are, though rarely; you can't use it anywhere outside discord (a con for those who don't use discord); I had instances where I saw people use it for roleplay which is also allowed; proxies are a pain; you'd need a guide to tell you why certain things are needed in it; you cannot reply to messages with gifs when using a proxy; when being exported to SimplyPlural it exports everything, so if you had 10 members on SimplyPlural and 15 on PluralKit, it's best to add those 5 manually than delete 10 new exported alters (I did it with 100+ alters by accident and it was a pain).
Personal rating: 9/10. Complex, difficult to figure out, but once you get ahold of it and how it works, you'd be amazed. Also a pain that you can't use it in DMs, but it's to be expected from a bot. And you can always create a server with just you.
3. Discord's Tupperbox: A discord bot created mainly for roleplay, but actively used by systems who cannot get along with PluralKit. A simpler bot, easy to use and figure out, most things can be done via dashboard, doesn't have the opportunity to add a lot of inofrmation. Online bot.
Pros: Simple; allows grouping alters; allows different tags for different members and groups, sometimes individually; way simpler commands, and most things can be added via dashboard; looks and works almost the same as PluralKit when in a conversation; available on all devices.
Cons: Can't add avatars via dashboard, only using the commands; can't add two alters with the same name (which you can do with PluralKit); people reported it glitching out and deleting members; mainly used for roleplay; gives a weird list of members via commands that is unusable in my experience; doesn't work out of discord.
Personal rating: 7/10. Perfect for people who just want to talk and not write down information about them with the bot, but the threat of members being deleted, especially as a larger system, is concerning. We mainly use it for OSDD-1a subsystems. It was also not created for systems, as far as I'm aware. I see more cons than pros.
4. Simply Plural: Another more well-known tool used and created for systems. Simply Plural is an app that allows you to create profiles of your members and add any information you'd like about them via custom fields. It has a chat feature, allows you to track your front and switch history, add friends, and many more. Supports endogenic systems (which is being mentioned not for discorse purposes but as a fact. Whether you find it good or not is up to you) and allows singlets to create profiles as well, although I don't know a lot about that part. Both offline and online app.
Pros (and a bit about the app): Backup included; tracks your switches and front, allows you to change exact time for them, too (24-hour clock down to minutes included); the polls feature works like polls on same Tumblr and everywhere else but specifically for your system memebrs; analytics provide information about who fronts the most, during what time of day they usually front; you and your friends can see each other's profiles, which is why singlets can also create profiles, which allows you to acces info about each other's systems; "trusted people" feature allows you to pick whether you want everybody to see your alters or not, or if you want outsiders to see your profile at all; provides resources and guides to plurality (which I personally haven't checked, but still putting it in the pros, if somebody thinks I shouldn't, let me know); has an app reminders feature; you can add as much information as you want; front history shows up in a person's profile; alters can add notes; alter groups are available; available on all devices, however, only as a website on PC; colors of your alters can be used in the chat to highlight names; hexcodes are available; "custom front" is a status you set with fronting which can be hilarious sometimes; connects to PluralKit in a number of ways.
Cons: The chat feature is a bit difficult to use, and first time I did, I freaked out because I couldn't get out of it (the trick is to go to "channels" and press "navigation", there you'll see the dashboard); friends can't communicate with each other; copy-pasting is hard on both mobile and PC; something about the interface and navigation irks me and our visually impaired self; notes have same visibility as the profile itself, which is inconvenient if you want your profile to be seen but not your notes; avatars can't be added via website.
Personal rating: 6/10. I don't like how it looks and works (probably due to being visually impaired and other issues), but if you manage to get the information in it, it's pretty accessible and thoughtful of what systems might need. Could be used as a tool to start working with your system rather than do it long-term.
5. Twinote: An app that is your "personal Twitter." Pretty sure it was created for the purpose of having fun rather communicating with alters. Offline app.
Pros: Backup provided; allows "private accounts" that other "users" can't see; can create as many users as you want, as many posts as you want; can upload up to 4 images; works almost like Twitter; has a chat feature; comments, retweets, likes are present; "lists" feature allows you to group users and see only their messages which could be used for "things only protectors sent" and such; storage shows all pictures used in the app, so you won't lose anything; tagging and following people is still an option, and following private accounts give that user an opportunity to be the only one seeing their tweets.
Cons: Can't upload videos; can't do much with anything other than posts and profiles, so trends and other stuff there is off-limits (as far as I know); you have to constantly switch between profiles for the chat feature; share button only shares the contents of the message; very easy to accidentally press the wrong button and delete a tweet by dragging it left (which I almost did a few times).
Personal rating: 7,5/10. I know it's probably annoying that I didn't just type either 7 or 8, but the reaosn why is cause I have mixed feelings about it from a practical point of view. We use it strictly to communicate what we did during the day as a small journal and just joke with each other, and it's incredibly funny in itself, but it doesn't allow you to write down a lot of information about your alters and has a character limit in profiles. So it's strictly for communication.
6. Notion: An app created as a dashboard for literally everything you could ever dream of. You can personalize it however you want and use it for whatever you want. Those who saw the post we made a while ago probably know the reason I'm mentioning it is due to a template that I linked here. Online app.
Pros: Can be used for literally everything without limits; available on all devices; big and has enough storage for a lot of information, text, projects, etc; can be designed however you want; a lot of useful templates for all life instances (even taxes); can be shared with people who also use Notion in a variety of ways (either only comment, only see, etc); can add your own custom covers and icons via both gallery and links; looks neat and doesn't mess with visual impairment for us; can add a page in a page in a page which can be used for diaries; links to different pages on other pages are also available; endless possibilities, I could rant all day.
Cons: Glitches on the phone a lot; certain things are allowed on computer and not on mobile and vice versa; all templates available only on PC; you need to have an account in order to use it; glitches if it's offline; sometimes deletes a bunch of text because of glitches, usually the triggers for it are writing a lot in it directly or erasing previous text a bunch of times; can't invite someone in your space, it would take too much storage; some storage needs to be bought, although, I don't know the limit (but there's a lot. Like, a lot)
Personal rating: 9/10. With all its antics, I love this app dearly, it's incredibly useful, and you learn to deal with the cons. It's the best one I've used for communication and information storage so far.
7. Texting Stories app: As ridiculous as it sounds, it could be used as a tool to communicate with your alters, especially in secret. We are fighting for our safety here, so I ask you to take this suggestion seriously. Could be used when you don't want to let anyone know you're a system and have noisy family members/relatives/etc who like to snoop through you personal devices, by using it, you can say you've just been doing a story. Offline app.
Pros: I believe you can add as many people as you want; can add avatars; different stories can be different days of the week; easy to use; easy to brush off as "just making stories."
Cons: Can't change colors, you need to pay for most things.
Personal rating: 5/10. Can be used for emergencies and communication only, although we haven't used it much.
8. Notes: Just the same plain old notes app on your phone that everybody has installed as default. Offline app.
Pros: Easy to use; can be easily lost within your other notes for privacy; used for literally everything you desire, even drawing; automatic backup.
Cons: Doesn't give you the ability to really present as separate people; doesn't have as many options as Notion.
Personal rating: 5/10. used it at some point just for communication, was cool, somple, easy, but nothing too big.
I hope this helped to put these apps in perspective. I do apologize for it being a bit all over the place, but I did attempt to make it coherent enough (I am currently in a psychotic state, it's difficult for me to communicate). And remember, there are always options to use a written journal rather than a digital one. If anything, it's better to keep both in case one gets lost. Who knows, maybe our parents asking us what we would do if the internet disappeared is actually a warning. /j /nm

@runwiththerain hello hello! here's your secret santa gift for @/offline-nobody's hermit secret santa event :D
It turns out that when Hermitcraft’s automated mail system goes down, they’re very lucky to have a moth hybrid as a postmaster.
Late December is the worst possible time to discover a system glitch – nearly every Hermit is expecting something, whether it’s a gift from a friend, a request for a shop restock, or a new winter coat from off-world. No one from PET Post had even thought to check in on it until nearly twenty packages had backed up in the post office. Etho and Tango are working to fix it now, but since there’s no indicators of where the problem lies (and yes, Etho did check the whole system for potatoes), it could take all day. That unfortunately leaves Pearl, the winged hybrid with the fastest travel speed of the trio, to manually deliver all the mail herself.
Pearl scans over the post office one more time to make sure she hasn’t missed anything. One more outgoing delivery pops up, to her surprise: a little package hidden in a cabinet, addressed to Gem in Pearl’s own handwriting. Right – she’d packed it up a few days ago but never got the chance to put it in the system. She tucks it safely into her mailbag, then takes out a piece of paper and scribbles a message onto it.

A few curious pogts peek out of cabinets and wave to Pearl. One climbs up onto the desk and grabs the note in its mouth, then walks away with it to find an envelope.
“Hey!” Pearl laughs, snatching her message back. “That’s not a letter, you nugget! That stays here for the Hermits. I’m gonna be out all day.” She adjusts her cap and slings her heavy mailbag over her shoulder. “Take care of the post office for me!”
The pogt squeaks and waves goodbye. Pearl dashes out the door and takes flight, headed for xB’s mailbox. Zero packages down, twenty to go.
Inside the post office, meanwhile, a few pogts climb up to the desk to join their friend. They squeak an indecipherable conversation. After a moment, one rifles through a drawer to find an envelope, while another runs off and returns with Pearl’s favorite stamp. They tuck Pearl’s message into the envelope and prepare to drop it into a mailbox, but one of the pogts remembers the broken mail system and takes the letter itself instead. It studies the stamp and squeaks a question to its friends, then nods and waddles towards the door with one destination in mind.
The moment the door shuts behind it, Tango walks in to grab a few supplies before returning to his redstone work. The conspiring pogts all scatter and roll around on the desk in an unsuccessful attempt at acting casual. Tango chuckles. “What are you little critters up to?”
They squeak innocently in unison.
He shakes his head. “Not gonna question it.”
----
As GeminiTay settles down to eat dinner, there’s an unexpected knock on her door.
Well, “knock” isn’t quite the right word. It sounds more like someone repeatedly throwing a ball at it, accompanied by a little squeak every time. “Hello?” Gem calls.
No one responds, so Gem puts down her mushroom soup and walks over to the door. The knocking sound continues. “Hold on a sec, I’m coming!”
Gem opens the door. There’s no Hermit there to meet her, but a small, fuzzy ball comes flying through the doorway with a startled squeak instead. It lands, rolls a few blocks, then stumbles to its feet (oh, it’s some kind of creature) and adjusts the flower on its head.
Gem stares down at it, and it awkwardly waves hello to her. She bursts out laughing and scoops whatever-it-is up in her hands. “What are you doing here?”
It holds out a letter, unaddressed but marked with a clear GeminiTay stamp.
“Oh, do you work for the post office?” Gem asks. “Is this a special delivery?” She takes the letter, puts the pogt down on the floor, then opens the envelope.
Out delivering packages! Please leave all outgoing mail here. The redstone’s being mean today :( -PearlescentMoon
Gem rereads the message, puzzled. “Hey, this isn’t a letter for me! Did you take this from the post office?”
The pogt squeaks and bounces onto Gem’s shoe. She isn’t sure she can translate it right, but she gets the sense it’s trying to say something like yeah, but it’s important and we wanted you to have it. (Either that, or she’s just convinced herself that Pearl’s post office creatures think she’s an important person. She’d like to think it’s the former.)
“Aw, well, thanks for the gift,” Gem says. She picks up the pogt again, prepared to take it back to the post office, when something occurs to her. “Wait, I haven’t seen her fly by yet. How long has she been out for?”
The pogt tilts its head sideways in thought, which only succeeds in making it fall over sideways. It squeaks in surprise, stands back up, and shakes its head as though to say no idea.
Gem glances out the window at the rapidly darkening sky. She always forgets how fast the sunset goes when she isn’t thinking about it. Pearl definitely wouldn’t have gone for a serverwide flight past sundown, especially not without a fast-travel system like a nether hub. She must have been out for hours by now.
Gem chuckles and puts her head in her hands. Only you, Pearl. “Alright, well, I’ve got some cookies in the pantry from yesterday. Maybe I’ll make her some cocoa. Might as well give her a safe place to land when her wings get tired.”
The pogt bounces up and down, probably to mean now you’ve got it!
“I’m not taking you home, though. I don’t even know how you got here.” Gem walks away, headed for the kitchen. “And you can’t eat my food.”
The pogt waddles after her and squeaks.
“Fine,” Gem says. “You can have one cookie.”
----
Nineteen packages down, one to go.
Pearl thought she’d finished all her deliveries by now, but nope, she’s missed another one again. Gem’s parcel fell to the corner of her mailbag, buried under an enormous box addressed to Scar (cat toys for Katy Bee and Mr. Finnegan, judging by the jingling sound) and a shiny silver package for Joel which could only be from Lizzie. She’s not too far from Magic Mountain, luckily, but nightfall has made the air much colder. Not to mention that she’s been flying for hours with an overstuffed mailbag, and her wings haven’t been this tired in ages. Gem’s base might as well be on the other side of the server.
Still, her job is to deliver the mail. And it’s only one package. It’s no big deal. Pearl sighs and turns around in midair. One package to go.
Gem’s lighthouse is a beacon in the distance, slowly coming into view as Pearl soars toward it. Pearl is almost disappointed by the effective lighting – she must look like a wreck after hours of flying around the server, and she certainly doesn’t want that to be illuminated for the world to see. She waves hello to Gem’s lighthouse fish as she finally reaches it, hesitates in midair, then tries to drag herself away from the bright light. Nope. No moth instincts. I have a job to do–
Unfortunately, one moment of shiny-thing distraction is enough to cause a problem. As Pearl leans towards the light, her wings rest at the exact right angle for the wind to catch them and blow her off-course. She tries to right herself, but her back is too sore to do much more than flutter her wings in place. She tumbles into the ocean below with a shriek.
The cold December waters come as a shock – it takes Pearl a moment to get her bearings enough to tread water. She hears a small object land with a splash next to her, but she’s too busy floundering about to pay it much mind. To her surprise, something hooks onto the collar of her shirt and tugs her towards the dock. She looks up to see Gem smirking down at her with a fishing rod in her hand. “Caught a big one!”
Pearl rolls her eyes. She can’t help but laugh. “Evening, Gem.”
Gem reaches out a hand to help Pearl onto the dock. “Heard you had something for me.” She unhooks the rod from Pearl’s shirt.
“Indeed I do!” Pearl checks the clasp on her mailbag, which has thankfully held strong as usual. “Last delivery of the day. Thank goodness.”
Gem links her arm into Pearl’s and drags her towards her house. “Alright, c’mon. You’ve been out for hours.”
“Wasn’t that bad,” Pearl says. “Only twenty packages.”
“Yeah, only twenty. By hand.” Gem leads Pearl to the kitchen table, pulls out a chair, and shoves her into it. “Pearl, you’re insane.”
“You know the slogan. Neither rain or snow, nor death of night.” Pearl shrugs. “Or freezing cold ocean, I guess.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Gem takes two cups of cocoa from their perch atop the warm furnace. She puts one in front of Pearl, then sits down herself. “Still. Who’s gonna deliver the mail if you get hypothermia?”
“Aw, is this you worrying about me?”
“Me? Never.” Gem points to the corner. “Oh, look, your friend’s here.”
The runaway pogt waddles over to the table with a tray of cookies balanced atop its flower. Pearl laughs, eyes wide. “How’d it get here? We’re chunks away from the post office.”
“I have no idea. But it delivered me a message. Something about you being out of the office all day.”
“Out of the–” Pearl spots the envelope on the table. “Oh, you nugget, I told you that wasn’t a letter!”
It squeaks at her.
“Oh, okay, fine. You helped.”
It squeaks proudly and curls up in her palm. Pearl laughs. “Nothing but trouble, these little ones. Reminds me of someone.”
“I made you treats!” Gem says indignantly.
“I suppose you did,” Pearl teases back. She lights up and reaches into her mailbag. “Oh, that reminds me! I made you something as well.”
“You did?”
“I did!” Pearl takes the final parcel from her mailbag and presents it to Gem with a flourish.
“I expected a restock request, honestly. You and your pickles. My pickles.” Gem opens the parcel and peeks into it. She looks up at Pearl with a surprised grin. “Oh, my gosh! You made this for me?”
She takes out the contents of the package: a Christmas card and a little plush shark. The shark’s eyes are the slightest bit wonky, giving it a goofy expression both women can’t help but smile at. “Look at it!”
“To match your ocean theme!” Pearl beams. “It’s made of wool from a couple of messed-up banner patterns. I hope you don’t mind…”
“No, it’s perfect.” Gem hugs the shark close. “I will name him Fish, and he shall be mine forever.”
“Fish! I love it.” Pearl stands and stretches her wings. “I guess I should get back to the post office. The automated system won’t fix itself–” Her communicator buzzes.
<TangoTek> Mail system debuggification complete!
<TangoTek> A few of those darn pogts got into the redstone
Pearl shows the communicator to her pogt friend, who looks away sheepishly. “You know anything about this?”
It squeaks in dismay and waddles off. Pearl chuckles. “Well, would you look at that?” She sighs. “I should probably still…” She tries to flutter her wings again, but they ache almost too much to move. “I mean…”
Gem laughs. “Yes, Pearl, you can stay the night.”
“Aw, you’re the best.”
“I know.” Gem blows Pearl a kiss.
Pearl smiles. “Y’know, after I get some rest… you think the pogts would make good mailmen? They seem to get around pretty well.”
Gem leans her head on Pearl’s shoulder and laughs. “Only you, Pearl.” Cozy and warm inside Gem’s base, Pearl closes her eyes and smiles. Maybe the postal system can wait just a little bit longer.

Oil is Thicker Then Blood (Part 82)
The pod now lay in peices, a small team of drones hovering over each section, taking note of the way it was designed and more importantly why, so that it could be properly emulated then construction began on the proper escape shuttle.
That's what Uzi was doing now, sitting on a chair in the outdoor workshop that one of her team insisted she sit on instead of standing, and thinking realistically on what they would need to escape Copper- 9's gravity well safely and, more than that land somewhere else without being cooked in the atmosphere.
Aluminum, lots of it, first and foremost, it was the lightest metal they had on hand, and thankfully, present in the vehicles that littered the roads, the bunker had a forge, it was offline at the moment (because they had no use for an industrial grade forge) but it shouldn't be too difficult to reactivate. They had enough solid fuel to keep it running temporarily… just long enough to see this through.
N and V could both lift cars with ease, so getting the burned out vehicles into the bunker was also a non-issue, so at the very least, they had that covered.
Oxygen wasn't needed, Drones didn't need to breathe, she… could breathe, but it seemed like she didn't really need to all the time if her vents could get enough air into her system unaided, it was only went she was doing something laborus or anxiety inducing would they really start going. They need some sort of air though… so it will have to be pressurized in some way.
Khan would probably be in charge of that, pressurized doors sounded right up his area of expertise, so she filed that away for something to give to him.
Next came recharging, it was probably a good idea to reuse the standing charge pods that were present in the landing pods, it would be uncomfortable sure… but it would save on space and weight.
With all that in mind, she began a preliminary sketch, trying to fit in as many charging pods in as little space as she physically could, the bigger the shuttle, the longer it would take to construct and the harder it would be to get out of the planets gravity.
The gravity wasn't very strong… lacking a core would do that, but light was best regardless.
“Liz, I'm not going to ask you to do this… it's more my responsibility…” She heard V's voice from outside the building, sounding wary and tired.
“Hell no, girl you are not claiming sole responsibility. We're all part of this now. May as well own it.” And that was Lizzy, Uzi grumbled lightly, glad that Tera was with N at the moment.
“Heeeey.” Lizzy poked her head into the doorway, it now had a sheet over it to keep out some of the draft, Uzi shivered slightly as the freezing wind hit her silicone, her core fluttering in displeasure.
“What?” Uzi asked gruffly, not wanting to really interact with her, she wouldn't call them enemies now, but a “freind” was probably still a bit of a stretch.
Even so Lizzy trapised up right to her side, V following close behind, arms crossed and looking like she'd just lost a fight with a bear.
Lizzy, the bear in question, leaned on the table in front of Uzi, quiet for a moment, V's eyes never left her, as if begging her to not do whatever she was about to.
“So V said you and N have a nest.” She started, making Uzi freeze up for a moment, feeling the embarrassment crawl up her back before shoving it down, there was nothing embarrassing about it.
“Yes.” She said simply, turning her head up from her very important work that she would very much like it get back to. Lizzy made no indication that she was phased by it.
“And that she's been sleeping in it for the past couple of days.”
Uzi blinked. Was… was Lizzy jealous? Of V sleeping in N and hers nest? Oh! Oh that was hilarious!
“Mmmhm?” A small smirk made it's way to her face, Lizzy didn't seem to notice it.
“Great! You won't mind a fourth then right?”
And suddenly the smirk was gone, and she heard V let out the world's most ‘done with this woman’ sigh she'd ever heard.
“Uh, Yes I do mind! Why do you even want to?!” Uzi exclaimed, sketch now long forgotten due to the audacity of this woman! Uzi didn't ask if she could sleep in Lizzy's bedroom, what gave the right for Lizzy to?
“Because V thinks it's her job and only her job to take care of you when N isn't around, and that's not right when I'm right here!” She pointed to herself, flipping her hair like she was the obvious choice.
“I don't need taken care of. I'm fine! I don't need all of you doting on me!” Uzi snapped, standing up quickly in protest… too quickly, her vison blurred for a moment as she was hit with vertigo, swaying and holding her head for a moment.
Lizzy steadied her on one side, V on the other, Uzi grumbled, leaning more into V automaticaly when her lovely warmth washed over her.
“Uh huh, face it girl, you need help and you can't hog my…” V looked at her, blushing furiously as she made a cutting motion with her hand.
“B-bestie all to yourself.” Lizzy finished with a stammer and a wild blush, Uzi rolled her eyes, why did they even try to hide it anymore? It was so obvious it hurt. Her and N weren't this bad. Right?
“Bite me. Both of you.” She grumbled, but her body betrayed her by purring loudly when she felt V pet her head gently, making Lizzy giggle and Uzi blush madly.
“Uh, Uzi?” The three girls turned around, Thad poking his head into the room with a sheepish smile on his face, his eyebrow raised as if he was asking a question.
“No.” Uzi groaned, but it clearly didn't matter, she felt Lizzy nod and then punch V in the arm, and she nodded as well. “NO.” She said more sternly, she wanted the nest to be private!
And yet… that daybreak the nest was full of all six of them, N and Herself, sleeping in the middle with Tera between them, V and Lizzy, curled up next to each other, V's tail and arm wrapped around her protectively, and Thad passed out in a corner, snoring like a freight train…
And she slept like a baby…

Ainz Ooal Gown/Momonga (Overlord) X Reader
Summary: Your current relationship with your Guild Leader is already playfully flirtatious, if not mostly in a platonic manner, mainly to keep secrecy intact as Players- but one accidental slip-up during another one of your secret meetups leads to a scenario neither of you expected in the slightest- but certainly won't say no to.
Word Count: 3,247
Warnings: Non-penatrative smut, monster fucking, throne room/throne chair sex, momentary power dynamic, begging, MAJOR swearing/cursing. Reader is written as female with female anatomy/genitalia. MINORS DO NOT INTERACT!
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Bone Daddy. Stupid Sexy Lich. Sorry not sorry, I have a thing for hot skeleton men now and he's the fucking reason for it. Also, we all know this man(?) is actually an anxious mess underneath the physical form he has, but he deserves to have one moment where we can imagine him as a temporary Power Top. Eat up, ladies.
Tumblr media
You already had a gut feeling that it was incredibly grand and massive, that much was for certain- but somehow, finally seeing it for yourself, seeing the actual, real thing- still made your jaw lightly fall open in pure, utter awe.
The royal hall of the Great Tomb of Nazarick was quite possibly one of the most beautiful sights you had ever laid your eyes upon.
But in all reality, it wasn't all because of the vast array of emblem laden banners, the plush, velvet carpeting of deep crimson that lay beneath your feet, or the gargantuan, looming chandeliers- no, far from it. Your main focus was drawn to the glistening gold throne chair at the very end of the hall, resting dead center against a wall of champagne-colored organ pipes, nestled within the remains of overgrown sapphire crystal.
Or rather, the creature occupying said throne.
Momonga- Lord Momonga- or as he had more recently started to refer to himself as- Ainz Ooal Gown, sat upon the glistening royal cathedra with his usual aura of intimidation and authority, tall and proud as always. Unlike before, he was without the staff of the guild's (and by temporary proxy, his) namesake, his deft, slender fingers instead splayed along the edge of one of the armrests. He'd changed out of his thick gold and red robes from earlier's meetings, now back in his usual deep violet hooded cloak and headdress. You could definitely tell he felt much more comfortable in this attire; his body language while confined in the heavier attires was very stiff in comparison.
You also weren't complaining that the violet robes always gave you a better look at his broad shoulders and ribcage. The very sight of them always made your cheeks warm, though you would never admit it out loud- mostly for fear of Albedo violently murdering you for even voicing the thought of it.
Even so... you couldn't blame her for her attraction to the Lich.
You were drawn to Ainz as well, but unlike her, you never purposefully overstepped your boundaries with him or openly declared that level of adoration for him at the top of your lungs. That, and you were also a Player of Yggdrasil who became trapped when the game's systems went offline, so you had that very special, almost intimate lifeline in common with him that allowed you two to bond almost instantly when you met.
"I apologize that this morning's meetings took longer than expected," the Overlord's voice, deep and oddly soothing to your ears, echoed softly through the hall as you resumed your approach. "Hopefully you weren't waiting too long for me."
You shook your head, a smile on your face as you reached the end of the long carpet and briefly bowed your head in a proper greeting. "I kept myself busy in the meantime," you replied. "Pray tell, though, what did keep you?"
At your question, he visibly straightened, but only for a moment- he leaned forward with a soft groan, running a hand down his jaw before it dropped to his side. "You'd find it more amusing than an actual issue, as it sounds as such, but..." A long, bony finger tapped against the solid gold of the throne chair. "Albedo and Aura ended up getting into a little bit of a confrontation- mind you, it was more of a childish spat than anything. It mostly stemmed from both of them wanting to sit in my lap."
The ends of your lips couldn't stop themselves from upturning to nearly reach your ears in good-natured amusement. You could only imagine what that scene looked like- Aura made sense; she more than likely saw the Lich as a parental figure and picturing her perched on his legs was understandably adorable. Albedo, on the other hand? No doubt any outbursts from her relating to that spawned from unbridled jealousy, which was odd since Aura showed no form of romantic attraction for Ainz (and therefore, might have made herself look a bit like an idiot in the process).
Then again, Albedo would threaten anyone who even looked at the Overlord for more than two seconds in any form of positive light that wasn't related to fear or obedience. The only reason you even remotely got a pass in that regard was because you were a Player, and by extension, a Supreme Being- basically a God to the NPC's and everyone else in this new world- and therefore, by technicality, had a rank of superiority. Even to the denizens of Nazarick.
"You were popular today, huh?" You responded, eyes crinkling as you smiled. "Regular ladies' man, it seems. I don't suppose you've got time or energy for one more person?" Jokingly, you tilted your head up and batted your eyelashes at him in an over-the-top fashion, which allowed a chuckle to reach your ears as he extended a hand out to you.
"For you, my dear friend, I believe I can make an exception," You could hear the smile in his voice and see a brief twinkle in his glowing red eyes, and you strolled over towards him, up the three small steps that led to the throne, and proceeded to splay yourself across both his legs; your head rested on one armrest of the chair while your feet dangled over the other, your arms folded neatly across your stomach. Despite him being basically a skeleton, he was, oddly enough, quite comfortable; his robes certainly helped lessen any prominent protrusions that his bones would have normally presented.
Ainz peered down at you from your position across his legs, that same smile audible in his words as he spoke to you again. "Ah-ah, that's cheating," he chastised you playfully. "You're laying, not sitting."
Feigning offended innocence, you placed a hand over your chest and gasped. "What, I'm not allowed a little extra luxury as your most trusted and precious companion? I'm hurt, Lord Ainz," You drawled your words out in an exaggerated manner, which caused him to chuckle again as you tried and failed to hide a smile. "But if you so insist, I guess I can position myself properly."
With that sentence, you started to adjust yourself into a sitting position, but as you moved your hips to better situate yourself on his lap, you unconsciously ended up straddling him and your clothed core brushed against his leg at just the right spot- enough to make you stop dead in your tracks as a sharp inhale escaped your lips, the faintest hint of a soft moan accenting the sound of your hitched breathing.
Fuck.
The Overlord, too, froze in his place at that exact same moment, the glowing red dots of his eyes almost shrinking to pinpricks. “That-“ he paused before saying anything else, in fear of his voice cracking even more than it did with just that one single word. “That wasn’t meant to happen on purpose, was it?”
Briefly holding your breath, you exhaled slowly, biting your lip as your eyes closed in a mix of embarrassment and sheer want, one hand gripping at the armrest at your side for any means of support as you had to literally force yourself with every muscle in your body not to do what you just did a second time. “No, not on purpose,” you barely managed out in a whisper. “But..."
He turns his head in your direction to stare at you intently, almost nervously, as his gaze bores onto yours. "But...?" he pushes you slowly, not wanting to rush the answer he doesn't know whether or not you'll give him.
You inch your head up at a snail's pace, inch by inch, until your eyes lock onto his. Your pulse audibly thrums against your neck, and you swear you can feel it in your throat as your body trembles above him. "...I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to do it again."
The moment that sentence left your lips, the all-too familiar sound of Ainz's emotion inhibitor activated, his jaw visibly tightening to avoid going slack as a soothing green light washed over his form. You bit your bottom lip for a split second, trying and failing to hide the sheer embarrassment of your own- sure, the two of you had exchanged jokingly flirtatious comments in the past, but that was all in good fun. This? You'd been caught red-handed now, and there was no way out this time.
However, the low whisper that escaped him nearly made your legs collapse from underneath you.
"...I'd be lying myself if I said I wouldn't stop you."
May whoever was the closest thing to a god in this world that wasn't the Lich underneath you have mercy on your fucking soul.
Slowly- almost experimentally, so as to not rush him despite the permission given to you, you gently ground yourself against his leg once more, your lips parting slightly at the contact of the smoothness of his thigh that was still hidden by the robes. You were about to ask him if that was too much, if you needed to slow down before you did anything more, but his next actions surprised you so much to the point that your heartbeat nearly doubled in speed.
His hand tapped lightly against your waist, signaling for you to lift yourself off him- and just as you were about to whine in protest, he grabbed a handful of the violet silk that covered his lower body and brushed it almost violently to the side, allowing the stark white bone of his thigh to be fully accessible and visible to you- then, his index finger slowly slid past the waistband of your leggings to trace a line along your skin, gently digging into your hip. “It might be more enjoyable on both ends if these weren’t in the way.”
You didn’t have to be told twice at all- briefly standing back on your feet to all but rip the tight fabric down from your waist and legs, not even giving a second glance down as they bunched up at your lower calves, you mounted the Overlord’s lap again, now without any obstruction between either of you this time around. The moment your slit made proper contact with his thigh, you just about lost your mind right there, your entrance already slick from the intimate touch of skin on bone that made your head spin. One hand white-knuckle gripping the armrest of the throne as the other balled into a fist on top of your other leg, you finally began to set a rhythm, albeit a sloppy one;  the sharp, yet still smooth ridges of his thigh rubbed so perfectly against your core that it caused you to fall forward, your forehead resting against his shoulder as shaky breaths fell from your lips, accented by hint of high-pitched moans that started out softly, just above a whisper, but steadily grew in volume as you rutted against him again, and again, and again- you were so caught up in the literal and metaphorical heat of the moment that you almost failed to remember that one of Ainz’s hands hadn’t left its place at your hip, having now wound itself around your waist to hold you firmly against him by the dip in your lower back, his large palm digging into your skin through the fabric of your- now seemingly unbearingly tight- underbust corset.
The low groan from the Lich almost made you slam your hips further down onto him in mindless desperation. “Falling apart like this… all because of me?” his baritone voice reached your ears, dripping like molten hot honey as you felt the hand that was on your back untying the ribbons on your corset. “If this is all it took to have you, my dear, I- we should have done something sooner.”
You were still in a prime position to watch the piece of black leather loosen and fall to one side of your stomach and waist, freeing the lower half of your off-the-shoulder blouse from its original confines of being trapped against your abdomen. Unconsciously, you attempted to shrug your upper body out of the blouse, which now felt almost suffocatingly hot against your skin. After one too many of your attempts failed, you finally decided to all but tear it up and above your shoulders and threw it over towards the arm rest on the other side of the throne chair, your now freely exposed breasts bouncing lightly at the action before relaxing against your chest.
“Nnngh, Ainz...” you settled for moaning out the name he’d given himself as opposed to his normal name- it rolled off the tongue easier.
Almost immediately after his name left your lips, you yelped quietly in shock as he lifted you off his lap again, only to place you back down in the other direction, your back now slumped against his ribcage. This almost allowed you a better angle to grind against his leg, which you were eternally thankful for- but you were met with another surprise that made the heat in your stomach pool even deeper than before. “That’s Lord Ainz to you,” he almost growled the words into your ear, one of his hands trailing slowly up from your waist to your stomach- too slowly. It was almost painful, the pace he was going at. “I’ll reward you if you say it correctly this time.”
Where the fuck did he get this wave of confidence from? And how the hell was it so fucking hot?
Your head fell back against his shoulder, breathing heavily against his neck. “My Lord- Lord Ainz,” the title sounded so good- far better than you thought it would- coming from your lips.
A dark chuckle disguised as a hum escaped him in response to your words. “Good girl,” your name accompanied the spoken praise in a low murmur, and you gasped as the hand that was on your stomach finally reached up to fully envelop one of your breasts in his palm, the sharp tips of his fingers skimming over the hardened peak of your nipple before pinching it in what was a feather-touch for him, but a stinging jolt of white-hot ecstasy for you- your folds sunk even further onto the edge of his thigh and your jaw fell open in response to the pleasure that shot through your core, your mouth brushing against the thick vertebrae of his neck in a wet, open-mouthed kiss. You were an absolute writhing, panting mess, almost close to drooling as a result, and this sudden burst of change from the normally anxious man you knew was not helping in that regard- but also very much helping in another.
“You’re getting so close, aren’t you, my dear?” he edged you further again, and you realized his other hand was now sneaking up to drag his nails along your inner thigh, leaving triangular-shaped indents as he dug into your skin. You knew exactly what he was doing, where that hand was going to go, but you also knew he was going to make you work for what you wanted- and that was what killed you the most. “Tell me how badly you want it.”
With your hips thrusting violently against his leg, coating his femur with your slick, you let out a cry of frustrated longing and want as your tongue nearly lolled out of your mouth. “Please let me cum, Lord Ainz,” the words fell from your mouth in a sobbing plea, your entire body now rocking in the same erratic rhythm; it allowed the palm still fully grasping at your breast to rub repeatedly across your stiff nipple, and you let a loud whine accent your cries. “Please, I’m so fucking close, I want to cum so bad, please, pleasepleasepleasepleeeeease-!”
Your state of absolute desperation seemed to answer all your prayers, and finally- fucking finally- his other hand was finally where you wanted it to go, a long, pointed finger rubbing swift, deft circles on and around your swollen bud, amplifying your already overstimulated sense of pleasure even higher as you thrusted up to meet his figners while still writhing against his thigh, and he only spoke his permission to you in two words. “You may.”
The volume of your moans climbed higher and higher, almost turning into screams as your words nearly slurred together into unintelligible cries. “FUCK- fuck, yes, right there, Lord Ainz, right fucking there, yes, fuck, don’t stop-” you couldn’t stop yourself; now almost babbling incoherently with your peak approaching faster, faster, faster- “Mmmmmmohhhh, yes, fuck, fuck, FUCK- oh, FUCK, I’m fucking cumming yesyesyesyesyesssssaaaahh-!”
All at once, you let out a near mirror-shattering scream as the knot in your core released, erupting violently as though it were an active volcano; you swore you actually felt yourself spill onto his thigh, the nectar from your sex coating his leg from underneath you as you continued to slowly rock against him a few more times to ride out your orgasm. Your breathing was heavy and labored, your head still resting languidly against his bare shoulder as he slowly withdrew his hand from your folds, his finger leaving a damp trail across your thigh.
Good god, did you really let yourself go that hard? For a second, you felt your cheeks burn up from the state you were previously in- it was almost embarrassing.
But fuck, did it feel so good.
Only when he was absolutely certain you were satiated and able to stand without falling over did he gently assist you with rising to your feet, delicately handing you your previously discarded blouse as you hoisted your leggings back up. You slowly pulled the garment back over your head, stopping only to turn back around and have Ainz relace and tighten the ribbons on your corset without him asking to do so. It was oddly sweet- and, in a way, very like him.
“If-” His voice cracked at the first word he tried to speak, and you couldn’t help but smile and let a soft chuckle fall from your lips before he cleared his throat and straightened himself. “If ever there comes a moment where you would, perhaps... want to do that again, at all- not that there’s anything wrong with that, but you know- I mean-” There he was, slightly stammering over trying to find the right words- he was back to his normal self again.
You cut him off, gently pressing a finger to his teeth with a soft smile. “You just give the word if you ever need an excuse to slip away from Albedo,” you hummed, leaning in to press a kiss to his cheek. “And next time- which there definitely will be-” you accented those words with a wink, which caused his eyes to shrink again. “We'll do it in my quarters. Because unlike with your room, she won’t come barging in on us unannounced.” Leaning in once more, you cupped a hand next where his ear would be and whispered softly to him. “...And personally, I don’t think you’d be a fan of a Succubus who’s madly infatuated with you finding out first-hand that you’re fucking the one other Supreme Being of Nazarick, would you?”
His jaw fell open as his emotion inhibitor lit up again in response, the bell-like sound of your laughter echoed off the walls of the royal hall, and just like that, all was normal once again.

my personal create-a-sim resource list
as promised, i've made a resource list to accompany my newest video after a 3 year long youtube hiatus! This video is about how I make my sims in cas! please note that these are my *personal* favorite cc creators, not every single creator. So if someone is not mentioned, charge it to my mind and not my heart cause WHEW I got 280+ gb in my CAS folder ALONE, so forgive me if I've left someone out. Although, I will continue to update this over time. I've been procrastinating on making this for over a year now. I've conjured up 100 creators for you to check out, since there are so many I didn't link them all bc it would become so tedious that I'll get overwhelmed and scrap it like I always do. Sorry about the inconvenience. I can lead y'all to water, but I can't make y'all drink it! y'all welcome!!!
Also, please be aware that some of these creators are perma-paywallers. Like I said, I can lead yall to water...
