Assorted Swinlock headcanons: volume 1

Swindle is a good cook. He just doesn't really have much time to show off his skills. When he's in the kitchen though, he doesn't like others to bother him. His favorite dishes to make are stews and soups.

Lockdown has undiagnosed autism. He is 100% face blind, and he doesn't do well with rigid structure (such as school, or a normal job) - which is why he's a bounty hunter. He also has issues communicating with others. He tends to just close himself off when angry.

Swindle isn't much of a cheapskate. He loves a good bargain though. He loves to 'save' vintage goods from thrift stores, pawn shops, auctions, etc. He is partial to vintage firearms, and will spend lots of money to get his hands on them.

Lockdown's favorite color is orange. He has orange bedsheets, and his favorite prosthetic has orange accents.

Swindle can be a people pleaser at times. It drives Lockdown absolutely bonkers. That isn't to say that Swindle doesn't have a back bone though.

Warm Horizons-verse mini drabbles: cohabitation edition

When Lockdown found out he was carrying, he stopped working as a bounty hunter because of the strain that both his work and that pregnancy put on his frame. Because of his status as an outlaw, and his lone wolf nature, he accidentally isolated himself, and ended up driving himself stir crazy. Noticing Lockdown's dissatisfaction with his circumstances, Swindle offered to travel for him temporarily, and to help out around the ship. Seeing as he was the sire of the other's sparkling, he felt responsibility towards making sure Lockdown had his emotional and social needs met.

They ended up driving each other insane initially. Lockdown was already very frustrated with being unable to work, and was knee deep in the first quarter of his carrying cycle. He was just unhappy all of the time. Swindle wanted to make him feel better through any means possible. He was staying in the bounty hunter's ship after all. He kept Lockdown company, made meals for the both of them (Lockdown isn't much for cooking), and always lent a helpful servo. However, many of his efforts were perceived as overbearing by Lockdown, who was accustomed to being very self reliant - which wasn't entirely wrong. Swindle was sometimes concerned with the bounty hunter's activities...perhaps a bit too concerned, in Lockdown's opinion. It was somewhat suffocating.

How they resolved their differences was that Swindle and Lockdown ended up having a huge argument. One day, Swindle expressed his worries about Lockdown continuing his regular training and exercise regimen while he was 3 months into his carrying cycle. Lockdown snapped and asked Swindle to stop trying to control and stifle everything he did. They went at it for a while before Lockdown decided to shut himself off into his mancave armory to angst.

It took Swindle a few hours to realize that he owed Lockdown an apology. When he made dinner for the two of them, Swindle came to the door of the armory to attempt to get Lockdown to come out and refuel. When faced with his partner, though, the bounty hunter ended up just closing the door on him. Swindle had to talk to Lockdown through the door for a while to coax him to open the door and let him inside - explaining that he only wanted to support and help Lockdown, but that he did it wrong. He didn't realize that he was suffocating Lockdown at all until the tension between them boiled over.

Lockdown then opened the door to see Swindle holding a bowl of energon dumpling soup in a small thermo with a sad little look on his face. Unable to resist the sight of Swindle's puppy dog eyes, Lockdown let him in, and took the soup gingerly. Popping open the canister, Lockdown took a swig, before he began to apologize as well. He hadn't been very appreciative of Swindle's efforts to be accommodating, and he felt terrible for pushing his partner away when they needed each other the most.

After that incident, they slowly begin to grow fond of each other's presence. Swindle gets Lockdown to join in on cooking by getting a vegetable chopper, which lets Lockdown have more input on what ingredient goes into what dish. Lockdown begins being receptive to having Swindle's company while he works on mods and on the ship (think of the concept of parallel play). Life slowly gets more and more domestic for them, which is a nice change of pace.
