I have never seen or read Demon slayer (and tbh I don't really plan to). And I've also never even heard of the clones up until your blog, so my only knowledge and understanding of them is almost solely formed on your interpretation. You made me want these guys in ways that are concerning feminism. I can't even think about picking up the manga because if the canon is somehow different by your interpretation I fear I would feel as if the canon ones were ooc. Even if you did watch/read demon slayer, you wouldn't see these jerks until season thREE and EVEN THEN. SLAMS HEAD AGAINST THE WALL. WITH SO LITTLE SCREEN TIME. That's also probably why you haven't seen them around. they don't have much content or focus on their backstory, so the Fandom didn't get as attached. and I make it up with the scraps given.

holds your hands. I do recommend at least watching the scenes with the clones in the anime. their VAs did such a good job, I love both sub and dub. Sekido's grunts, Karaku's laughs, Urogi's laughs (and screeches), And Aizetsu's WAVERY VOICE all echo in my head constantly. I miss them.

shoutout to itaru chigasaki for just casually and suddenly revealing that he coped with getting bullied in school by literally kinning his favorite video game character, and then getting to play that same character in an officially licensed stage adaptation of one of the games. and not only that but he and his theater troupe got to work directly with the creator of the series who saw the full play and praised itaru specifically for how good his performance was. like if he was on kin tumblr he would've won so hard forever.

I think a lot about that one scene where Kirk is like lol you didn’t think I could be that logical did you 😏 and Spock is like honestly? no. I didn’t. to which kirk immediately makes the Saddest fucking face. 1) hysterical, get wrecked, and 2) oh you want Spock to like you SO BAD buddy. but the thing that a gif set cannot convey to you is that this comes at the very end of one of the honestly more tonally baffling Star Trek episodes, in which the population of an entire star system gets wiped out and it’s barely even mentioned, Kirk calls himself a robots mommy, and Uhura gets brain wiped and has to be retaught how to read and write but it all gets taken care of offscreen and she’s fine by the time the episode ends. so like you sit through 45 minutes of That, and the most genuinely hurt you see Kirk at any point is when Spock mildly insults his intelligence. they just don’t make television like this anymore!

Somerton's misogyny and lesbophobia was fucking blatant and the fact his fans didn't care / notice until a man made a video on it is abhorrent. That IS a problem, people NEED to do better or else bigotry towards women will only continue to be accepted! Lesbians were calling this loser out for years and no one cared!

hey. as a lesbian who watched somerton's videos you have to understand that it wasn't "fucking blatant" and it was embedded between smart (stolen) points in the structure of the argument, and was given fake "evidence" to prove it --- something hbomberguy specifically shows with every example. i personally always noticed that it was weird and it was always a critical point when watching his videos (and also uh, side note but you shouldn't primarily go to cis white men for good takes about feminism and the lesbian experience anyways --- like, you should be watching a diverse intake of thought from underrepresented creators and understand that the cis/white/male perspective will always be limited because it's not universal)

to many, though, it for sure didn't register as a pattern of behavior until the instances were laid out. saying that audiences were "abhorrent" for "excusing" it just shows a complete lack of sympathy, because again: the pattern of behavior was the problem, and rhetorically each individual instance was relegated to enough plausible deniability where it slipped by most audiences who were probably watching the video in the background while they folded laundry or something. when bigotry is shrouded under the guise of fact, it takes on the affect of truth and abuses the viewer's trust in the creator. sure, media literacy is a huge problem, and i've written and researched so much into that, and yeah yeah audiences should "do better." the reality is though, putting the blame on the audience feels a little misogynistic in itself, bc you're just shifting the blame from the literal people who need to be blamed for practicing bigotry --- cis white men with a large platform.

the real thing u should be saying here is to call for a diversification of one's media intake, but no -- let's blame the audience for getting lied to, instead of uplifting female, queer, trans, poc, etc voices. the only way people "need" to do better, imo, is listening to those people instead and seeking multiple perspectives.

like y'all, let's retire this very new narrative that all james somerton fans were evil misogynists who willingly supported this and need to be destroyed. really most people who watched his content were younger queer people genuinely interested in queer media analysis, film theory, and queer history, probably excited that a long video essay was dedicated to their favorite show/movie/etc, and lets not pretend this wasn't disappointing for them as well. can everyone like chill out.

I think one of my “favorite” things is when people misinterpret what it means to be aroace. Watching people so clearly not understand the complexity behind the spectrum of aromatic and asexuality and then proceed to say they “stand with” aroace as an ally is so hilarious to me. Especially when they use this to start bashing on a perfectly fine ship, especially because said ship gets in the way of theirs.

Aroace does not mean no attraction. The plastered poster face for it is people who don’t feel ANY types of attraction, but that does not mean everyone. Aromantic people can date and fall in love. Asexual people can fuck. Aroace people can do both.

Yes, aroace rep IS needed. But we still have it via Luffy—just because Luffy kisses someone (hypothetically) doesn’t mean we just yeeted the aroace label off of him. He is STILL aroace. You know who else is aroace? Bon Clay, for one. Zoro as well. Yet I don’t see people screaming that shipping Zoro with someone completely erases the aroace label, now do I?

Open letter of love to the queer and LGBTQIA community in America and abroad in these dark times. Please know that out there in the world there is at least [1], likely many more, people who witnessed your existence and are fundamentally better for it. Someone who took courage from your expression of self. Someone was genuinely able to smile in a dark place because they saw you, or something you made to express yourself. Someone who saw something you and your community shared with the world and felt so lucky to witness it. Someone who took comfort knowing you are out there somewhere and hopes you will thrive. Maybe you will never know the exact measure of joy you brought to some people, and get to understand the gratitude and love they have for you, which is a damn shame. To the queer people in my life and those I’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths with, through art or dialogue or writing or silly posting, thank you. And thank you for sharing your thoughts and creations with us. I hope you will continue to do so, and that many more people than you anticipated will step forward and fight like hell for you. Diamond In The Rough (The Touhou Walfas Series) is such an interesting piece of media. Not because it's any good oh hell no. Because the creator wants to be in the right so bad, he keeps changing his opinions on it. It's a Satire. It's a Deconstruction.

If you hate it, you're proving his point.

If you love it, you're proving his point.

If you say it's not canon to touhou, he tries to pivot it as "Im so glad you guys are talking about it critically" and then go to make 100 "positive" posts that are borderline vague vents

He didn't take it seriously yet there's a multi-page guild book about concept plots and beta stories. He wants to write the cast to not be like how they are in fandom works and still somehow writes them like fandom works.

He makes a whole series instead of just talking to the person he was criticising and acts surprised when said person drops him.

I understand people becoming jaded to their works as time goes on but holy shit is the author so easily swayed to just "Be on the correct side" of things. This series finished in 2014 and somehow he wants to remake it. Honestly just let it go man. You don't need to be writing "advice posts" because someone said they don't like your bad touhou fanfic.
