I am so mentally ill over Spinjitzu family and how FSM failed but Lloyd succeeded, and why that was.

Like, listen, FSM was a child soldier destined to be something great, to be the balance between the Oni and the Dragon, but FSM was born as two separate entities, even if one was just a mere shadow, and then, Garm and Wu were supposed to be the balance, but they were also born as two, because there was something missing, a common ground for the two sides to grab onto and make peace.

Then, Lloyd happened, he was born as a singular entity. Why was that?

You see, he was now different from the previous generations, he was part human, a mortal. Humanity is morally grey by default, not really going to either side, they created and destroyed equally. Lloyd holding the DNA of mortals gave the common ground needed for creation and destruction to properly coexist in this cycle of life.

His mortal side was what was needed for success, for the balance to truly be.

Ninjago au where everything is the same except Quanish did accept the FSM’ offer to join him in the Grasslands (at a later date) so when Lloyd dies in MotO Quanish is also there off to the side.

Lloyd interrupts his conversation with God to ask who that random dude sitting in the grass like 50m that way is and FSM’s just like ‘Oh that’s Quanish you don’t know Quanish?’ and then carries on like nothings happened.

This changes nothing except that Lloyd ends up remembering the Grasslands because he was so fucking confused about who Quanish is that the first thing is asks upon being resurrected is “Who the actual FUCK is Quanish?”

Wu’s happiness that his nephew is alive gets thrown out the window for a split sec and with zero hesitation and extreme hatred he’s like ‘Quanish the Elder was a fool!”

The First Spinjitzu master is one of the most intriguing characters within Ninjago and he doesn’t even get much screen time. His character is mostly hidden behind subtext.

Y’know, a child soldier who fought in a war between oni and dragon where he got tired and ran away to make a realm of his own and dedicated the rest of his life to protecting it and despite what he wanted, never stopped fighting.

He was a traumatised child who lost friends and people he considered family who grew up to be jaded and distant from his children and realised too late the consequences of that.

How he manages to be complex as a character when he doesn’t have much lines and is only mentioned is a feat within itself.

He isn’t even referred to by name, but by title. I think that says something about how big of a figure he is, his family mentions him by his legends and there’s nothing more personal about him.

He’s a huge, larger than life figure but I get the feeling he’s probably a lot like his sons and grandson in personality (aka a huge dork)

you know there's something in how oni traditionally inhabited mountains and abandoned fortresses, and then where the FSM and the ninja chose to live.

the FSM created his home on top of one of the highest mountains in ninjago, high above the clouds. maybe something about it felt nostalgic, so much like the mountains his oni mother had raised him on, and where his dragon father would make covert visits to him. maybe something about it felt safe.

maybe something about the destiny's bounty, a once great ship being made home again, felt right to wu. maybe something in the temple of airjitzu, abandoned and left to rot for so long, felt like home to wu and lloyd. perhaps the monastery, perched upon that very same mountain, felt like a homecoming to wu and lloyd for so many reasons.

maybe when garmadon stepped foot on the mountain for the first time in years, ready to protect instead of harm, ready to build instead of destroy, he felt an odd sense of peace.

I think destiny should be a person, maybe the way Bonzle is, and the FSM(Mr.ninjago) should be her roommate and maybe they’re roommates with the source dragons

Mr.Ninjago bursts into destiny’s room after the ninja experience a traumatic event and he’s like “destiny you silly goose, torturing my family and his friends” and she gets a little jab or something and the Source dragons look on like “wtf did we create” and then they see Lloyd having another panic attack

The curse of the first student is even worse when you realise all three of them perceived their student as their child in one way or another and the student perceived their mentor as some level of father figure ☹️

Lloyd: So your the First Spinjitzu Master right. Does that mean you’re good at all types of spinning or just spinjitzu?

FSM: Elaborate.

Lloyd: Like pirouettes and fouettés? Because Cole taught me how to do them and they’re really fun.

FSM, sighing: Yes, I can do those and I’m rather good at them.

Lloyd, delighted: This is the best day of my life!

Lloyd: So what was my dad like as a child?

FSM: He was a lot nicer than you’d think. Quite a lovely child, even after the venom. The venom didn’t really properly kick in until his late teens you know.

FSM: Now Wu on the other hand.

Lloyd: So if you’re half Oni and half dragon why do you look human?

FSM: Because Oni are shapeshifters and I didn’t want to spend the entire time you were here bending over to look at you and end up myself back pain.

Lloyd: Why would be you be bending over?

FSM: Because I’m 10’6.

Lloyd: What?! Why am I short then?

FSM: I don’t know but you certainly didn’t get it from me.

Lloyd: So why'd you have to divide the continent in two anyway

FSM: It seemed like a good idea at the time. Besides it worked didn't it?

Lloyd: ...

FSM: Will you stop judging me I was a teenager!

Lloyd: So was I and I didn't have to divide the continent.

Lloyd: *Thinking*

Lloyd: Wait how old were you when made Ninjago then?

FSM: Younger than that.
