So I was looking at the transcript for “The Stone Army” (as in the episode) and I noticed something interesting:

This line from Wu. Now, before people jump to “Wu didn’t tell the ninja crucial information he should’ve again!” (Which… first of all that assertion is factually incorrect but I digress), I had a different thought based on the specific phrasing here.

“-that name would never be spoken again.”

Me personally? That sounds like a “names have power” situation. And, since The Overlord feeds and grows stronger on darkness and the emotions thereof, it makes sense that never speaking of him or his name would be a legit strategy to keep him sealed away. If nobody knows or fears him, he holds no power because there’s no darkness to feed on.

In conclusion: I think this line is trying to tell us Wu withheld information about The Overlord in a genuine attempt to keep him at bay and gone (especially because nobody know the “Dark Lord” of the prophecy was The Overlord until either this ep or after).

Also, not to mention: right after The Overlord is finally spoken of, by relatives of the FSM no less… who just so happens to be awakened in the same episode?

For most of her life, Humbelina pranced around the crossroads chanting that she was the descendant of something purely evil, Ninjago's Overlord. For many a myth and those who were native to Ninjago, knew well of what that name entailed. Although her claims were big and scary-- she was not and had nothing to show but her multi-colored hair. No one knew that her father, the overlord, was in her corner telling her she was destined to rule the lands of Ninjago and that her powers would surely come soon. It wasn't until she met the green ninja's nephew, Troy Borg, that her powers began to emerge. As she navigates her growing crush on the enemy, the life long mission her father set her on begins to weigh heavy on her core.

Troy always wanted to be better, but he always seemed to mess things up. Wanting to become more favourable in the eyes of his uncle Lloyd, he kept trying, but nothing ever worked. He kept messing things up over and over. From all his efforts, he ended up meeting Humbelina, a nindroid who proclaimed herself to be the Overlord’s daughter. From their meeting, they hatched a plan that would benefit them both— she would reign terror on the city and Troy would swoop in to save the day. After a botched mission, Humbelina and Troy found themselves separated, but it wouldn’t be long before Troy realises he has fallen for her… and that love will cause him to make some choices that will change his life forever.
