There’s only one reason i rewatch the pilot episodes of Ninjago and it’s for Garmadon’s voice.

I’ve seen a lot of other people’s art/posts with the same HC as me that Lloyd would absolutely buy Kai those cheesy “world’s best ___” or “#1 ___” mugs/shirts. Either saying brother or dad for obvious reasons.

So going off that…

I was thinking how funny it would be if Sensei Garmadon walks into the kitchen and there’s Kai… drinking out of a “world’s best dad” mug.

And he just knows that it has to be Kai’s because he’s heard from the others that Kai has a mug that he will not let ANYONE else touch.

And Garmadon looks at Kai. And Kai looks at Garmadon. And Lloyd is backing away as quickly and quietly as possible before he’s spotted.

I mean—how was Lloyd supposed to know his dad would be redeemed?

Kai and Garmadon both do not know how to address the elephant in the room so they both just ignore it.

Kai’s def more of an older brother figure in my mind but I still think it’d be so funny.

it's always "I want sensei garm back. they should resurrect the nice parts of garmadon so lloyd gets his dad back!" well ok what if sensei garm came back as a fragile, hollow corpse of his former self bc he is missing a key component of his soul which is inextricably tied to the power of destruction and other negative traits, and we all learn an important lesson that you cannot simply pick and choose the parts of a person to keep. what then? ☺️

Hehehe in honor for shatterspin comic coming out soon I decided to draw this. This was a WIP for the longest time so happy I was able to get this done!

OH ALSO FIRST TIME DRAWING SKYLOR AND GARMADON!

anyways i’m thinking about how this wasn’t garmadon actually planning on hurting skylor to be cruel, it was a strategic move to persuade chen. and well like yeah obviously,, but!!! this shows the difference in garmadon vs chen.

garmadon threatens skylor because he has a child himself, and he knows he would do anything to protect lloyd from getting hurt. he is assuming chen feels the same about skylor and that chen will immediately let them go to protect her. when he doesn’t, this is when audience is first shown that chen never really cared about skylor, and only really needs her for her power. idk just something about garmadon thinking that he is threatening chen with something he has to give in to, knowing exactly how he would react himself to protect lloyd, but instead discovering chen’s cruel enough to not care about the life of his own child.

The first one is set after rescue mission for Lloyd. I headcanon that Lloyd painted ribs on his hoodie after Garmadon went away for a while. While Garmadon really didn't want his son to follow in his footsteps, he's still really touched.

The last two are set precanon. I have an older piece that explains more detail about this time period between the two. Quick summary, Garmadon was pretty present in Lloyd's early life, either through shadows or sending his skeleton army to pick up his son on the weekends. But for a reason, he sadly had to stop communications with Lloyd for an unknown time. But let's not think of that now, look at the happy evil boys!

the writers won't let garmadon and lloyd have a good relationship because if they do then all the villains are gonna have to deal with this 8'4 overprotective undead oni demigod coming to kill them because they looked at lloyd funny /hj
