Happy Icelandic day of independenceđŽđ¸đŽđ¸đŽđ¸đŽđ¸đŽđ¸đŽđ¸đŽđ¸đŽđ¸đŽđ¸đŽđ¸đŽđ¸đŽđ¸ fuck you denmarkâĄ
Fun iceland facts of the day:
The 17th of June is celebrated as our day of independence but we actually fully officially got independence on the 1st of december
We celebrate the 17th because its the birthday of the guy who was out in Denmark in 1944 and was like "hey guys, hear me out, what if you let iceland rule itself? We've kinda been asking for years and you're kinda under nazi occupation right now so they're doing their own stuff over there anyway cause you can't really intervene cause of the. The nazis."
I dont know why we celebrate his birthday. He didn't even fucking live here, he moved to Denmark when he was young and never came back, false idol that he is (JĂłn SigurĂ°sson)
Iceland was originally under Norway (thats where we came from, mostly) but then Denmark claimed us in the divorce (they invaded Norway in 1537 and turned it into a Danish puppet-state)
Iceland is bigger than Denmark in land mass but wayyy smaller in population and no one is happy about this
Why is our population so low? Why do we all live around the shores and not in the middle of the land? Well, you see, like 90% of this country is uninhabitable. It is just mountains and glaciers and ravines and black sands and fields of nothing out there. Only 2% of the country is forested, and most of it is imported
We do not have an army. And yet we have been in a war. The Cod Wars. A small Icelandic fishing boat rammed itself into the side of a huge British ship fishing in our waters. The brits got really offended because the giant hole we made in their ship knocked over a picture of the queen. America had to intervene so we wouldn't keep sending our tiny but fast fishing boats headfirst into British ships fit for war. In our defense, our pride and our fish were on the line
Pretty much all Icelanders are at least bilingual, tho they try to make us trilingual but very few of us actually retain any of the Danish they try to teach us at school, Icelandic preteens notoriously hate Danish (or maybe that was just me)
We make ourselves out to have descended from great vikings, its basically our whole brand besides puffins who aren't even our national bird we just love to show off our puffin population, but we actually weren't really vikings, we came mostly from farmers
Half of the country is located in the American continent, and the other half is in Europe, there's a mall out in the country that has a line down the middle of it because that's where the line between the continents splits and u can walk between America and Europe
We had the worlds first female president (VigdĂs FinnbogadĂłttirđŽđ¸đŽđ¸đŽđ¸đŽđ¸)
Despite our low crime rates, we have an unusually high crime fiction writer rate
I'll leave the fun facts about the phallus museum and the likes for next time, gleðilegan 17. júnà góða fólk!
#hĂŚ hĂł og jibbĂ jeij og jibbĂ jeij ĂžaĂ° er kominn sautjĂĄndi jĂşnĂĂĂĂĂĂ#i havent been able to go out and have fun today cause ive been working so this is how i get the patriotic urge to celebrate out of my syste#i have way more fun facts i love just saying shit about my country its fun#iceland isnt just beautiful nature. its weird culture as well#Ăsland#iceland#17th of june#17 jĂşnĂ#icelandic

A new puffin
đąđŠˇ: I have been watching one too many puffling videos... Don't ask.
Warnings: Reader uses she/her. Requests are open
đHetalia belongs to Hidekaz Himaruyađ
Ever since (Y/n) got introduced to Iceland and Norway by Denmark, she really tried her hardest for them to like her and accept her as a friend, same went for Finland and Sweden. To her surprise, it wasn't that hard to get along with Norway, as long as you didn't annoy him and listened to his mythology or his magical friends, he would accept you pretty fast. (Y/n) came to realize she judged the stoic looking nation to fast, as he was pretty fun to be around, and was relaxed for the most part. Iceland being the youngest did have a harder time accepting her as a newcomer, but after giving him some sweets and treating him less like a kid, he will be quick to accept you. Finland was the easiest to make friends with, (Y/n) noted. The country was friendly to her from the get go, something she could only compare to Denmark, who she met centuries ago while she was still a kid. Sweden, much like Norway was easy to get along with as long as you treat him well and don't panic so much around his stoic expression. (Y/n), though, soon came to realize that none of the nations were hard to get along with, but more of a certain bird that was always found on Iceland's head or shoulder. When it came to animals, (Y/n) had a huge heart for them! Due to her having been isolated for long, she grew close to the animals that reside in her forsts, lakes, and on the shores, and Mr. Puffin was really no exception. She found the talkative and, sometimes, blunt bird cute and funny, so she tried to get him to like her pretty much since day one. That proved to be a challenge, (Y/n) soon realized. While Hanatamago warmed up to her pretty much immediately, Mr. Puffin to this day would reject any form of affections or gifts she would give him. This left the nation distraught, which lead to Iceland first talking to the bird to be nicer, and when that didn't work he would try to comfort her in his own way.
"He is just stupid. Pay him no mind."
"He will come around. Just ignore him for a while."
Each time (Y/n) would just slowly nod her head, but her determination never really lessened.
"Mr. Puffin! I got you some dried hake and herring from my place! I am sure you will like it!" (Y/n) beamed as she ran towards the bird, which was sat on the couch, and held up the two bags of food. Finland and Sweden hid behind the doorway, hoping that today might be different. But, to all 3 countries' dismay, the bird just looked away and took off of the couch.
"Not hungry." The bird said and flew out of the living room. (Y/n) sighed in sadness and sat down on the couch as Sweden walked over to her, silently patting her bed.
"He will come around, (C/n). I am sure of it." Finland said softly, but only got a head shake from her.
"I have been told that for so long, you don't need to comfort me with that anymore." (Y/n) smiled at the Finnish man and got up.
"Where are you going?" Sweden asked as je watched her leave.
"I will just go out and get some fresh air." (Y/n) answered back, taking her coat and scarf off of the hanger.
"And what about these dried fish?" Finland called out.
"Put it away! Those were specifically made for Mr. Puffin. Maybe if Iceland offered it to him he will take it." She said sadly and and left the house after putting on her shoes.
"I am definitely the issue here. Maybe I am too persistent? I try to give Mr. Puffin h8s space, but he is so adorable, even if he is rude at times." (Y/n) sighed as she sat on a cliff, looking at the horizon.
"I don't know what to do anymore? All the animals I usually interact with like me right away... Maybe, Mr. Puffin is that one animal that will never like me." She sighed sadly and looked at her watch, realizing she had been out for a few hours, and she needed to go back and help prepare dinner with Norway. But, before she could get up, she heard some weird chirping sounds freezing for a moment, she slowly looked back, and to her shock she found a puffling looking up at her.
"Huh? What are you doing here, little one? Shouldn't you be out there with your friends?" She whispered as silently as possible, not wanting to scare the bird. Upon further inspection, she saw that the animal's wing was a little injured.
"Poor thing... you must be hurting so bad..." (Y/n) said sadly and slowly picked up the bird, and to her shock, the animal was pretty comfortable with the position it was in, chirping happily at her.
'Maybe a puffin does like me?!' She cried in internally in happiness and started making her way away from the cliff.
"I need to call Denmark! We need to find you a vet as soon as possible!" She said, carefully taking her phone out to call the Dane.
"I hope he didn't drink anything." She mumbled to herself.
A while later, the Dane had picked her up and drove them to the nearest vet who still had open. Thankfully, the bird was fine for the most part, just had some light injuries on his wing from a wild animal. The vet gave her some meds to give the puffin and bandaged up the injury.
"So, how long are we keeping.... it?" Denmark asked as he drove them back
"The doctor said its a male." (Y/n) said while patting the bird on the head and keeping him safe on her lap.
"And not for long. Maybe 2 weeks and he is free to explore the ocean. Poor baby, you were probably scared." She smiled as she lifted up the bird, which happily chirped. Denmark smiled a little and looked back at the road.
"Oh well, new addition to the family. Let's hope Mr. Puffin will be fine with it. He can be territorial."
"Don't worry. I will keep Baby puffin in my room. The rest of the house is free for him to use."
"Baby puffin?" Denmark raised an eyebrow at the name, earning a pout from (Y/n).
"It's a cute name! Right?" She looked back at the bird, which chirped back a few times.
"See?!"
"Why are you so restless now?" Iceland raised an eyebrow as him and Sweden looked at Mr. Puffin, who was circling around the living room.
"None of your business!" The bird yelled out, which confused the two nations.
"You act like Hanatamago when another dog enters our house." Sweden noted as the entrance door opened.
"We are back. And we will have a guest over for 2 weeks!" Denmark yelled from the entrance, confusing the two Mr. Puffin flew towards them, only to let out a shriek.
"What is this noise?!" Finland yelled from the kitchen as Norway walked out.
"What guest- Is that a puffin?" Norway asked as Iceland and Sweden peeked out of the living room, only to find (Y/n) holding the puffling as the adult bird sat on Denmark's shoulder and looked at it in disdain.
A while later...
"So, that's why I decided to take care of Baby puffin while he gets better. It will only be two weeks. Is that ok?" (Y/n) asked as she finished explaining what had happened while holding the bird. The other Nordics, minus Denmark, blinked at the animal a few times, not saying anything.
"Absolutely not! I am the only puffin around here!-" Mr. Puffin started protesting, only for Iceland to close his beak.
"Yeah, sure. I will help you release him once the two weeks end." Iceland said as Sweden and Finland chimed in.
"We just need food and a place for him to stay."
"I can build him a bed."
The two countries suggested, but (Y/n) just shook her head.
"No need. I still have that food Mr. Puffin rejected, and the bird bed as well." She reminded them. Knowing Mr. Puffin was about to throw a temper tantrum, Iceland took the bird out and Denmark followed after them, he wanted to see some drama.
"Well, it's decided then. You will take care of the puffling for the next two weeks. We need to cook dinner now." Norway said as he took out some of the bird food for the puffling.
"Ok. I will just take Baby puffin to my room." (Y/n) nodded while rubbing the animal's head.
"Why are you even mad?" Iceland raised his eyebrow as both him and Denmark looked at the adult puffin.
"I am not mad! I don't like my stuff being taken away." Mr. Puffin retorted back.
"You sure? You seem pretty mad over the newcomer. And besides, you rejected all those presents (Y/n) gave you." Denmark held back a laugh as the bird sent him a glare.
"Still-"
"Iceland, I will take that bird bed and some of the toys from your room." (Y/n) said as she walked by the living room.
"Sure. Mr. Puffin didn't use any." Iceland said nonchalantly as the puffin let out another shriek.
"Is the bird jealous?" Denmark laughed.
"I am not."
The next few days were spent with (Y/n) attending every and any need the puffling had. Regular medication, always a meal ready and relaxing with the bird. The animal's injury was healing faster than she expected, Iceland suggested that after the one week mark they should try letting the puffling fly around. (Y/n) was fine with it, wanting the bird to function like any other, but she was a little sad at the thought of the animal leaving.
"You are so cute!" She cheered as she filmed the puffling play with one of the toys.
Outside of her room, Mr. Puffin was glaring at the puffling, huffing as the nation kept fawning over him.
'I am cute, too! Cuter than that thing.' Mr. Puffin huffed yet again as be watched the nation fawn over something the puffling did.
"Good boy!" (Y/n) cheered while rubbing the animal's head.
"Let's get you something to eat. I bought you fresh eels this morning." (Y/n) said as she picked the bird up and walked towards the door, and Mr. Puffin quickly flew away from them both.
"Can I have some, too?" (Y/n) looked away from the puffling, that was eating peacefully, and instead looked at Mr. Puffin, surprised that he even flew to her for food.
"Hm? You want me to fix you some food?"
"Mhm." The bird nodded and (Y/n) blinked at the puffin, but eventually agreed.
"Ok. I will leave Baby puffin in your care for a bit." She said and walked out of the living room towards the kitchen. The puffling continued to silently eat as the other landed next to him. Mr. Puffin looked at the bird in annoyance, as he pretty much ruined all the peace he previous had.
"You are just a temporary thing here. So, know your place." The puffling looked away from his food and blinked at the adult puffin as (Y/n) came back again.
"Here you go! Iceland bought you this food."
"Huh? And where is the food you bought me?" The bird asked in confusion as the puffling sat down on her palms again.
"That? I know you don't like it when I buy you food, so I am just feeding Baby puffin with it. Don't worry, Iceland will buy you food from now on." (Y/n) smiled, oblivious to the displeased feeling the puffin was feeling at those news.
A week had passed since the puffling was taken into the Nordic household and the older puffin just had about enough of the bird. What was once the attention (Y/n) gave him was now all for the puffling. He really hated to admit that he missed it, and he scolded himself for being so cruel to the other nation.
'Great. She thinks I hate her and will not even pay attention to me. After that puffling leaves tho... will it go back to how it was?' The puffin grumbled as he watched both (Y/n) and Sweden inspect the pufflings injury and change the bandages.
Another week passed by pretty quickly and the puffling was all good and ready to leave for the ocean and meet up with the other puffins. (Y/n) and Iceland were standing near a cliff as they took the bandages off of the animal. Mr. Puffin was uncharacteristically quiet for the most part.
"Are you crying?" Iceland asked while sweatdropping, watching as the other country kept on hugging the bird.
"How can I not?! What if something happens to him on the ocean?! He is so small." The girl said back while the bird chirped a few more times.
"Well, whatever happens, happens. We need to release him. Besides, he will be back in a few years." Iceland shrugged, used to how his birds act. (Y/n) sighed, knowing he was right and handed him the bird.
"Here. You do it." She argued as the Icelander nodded and walked over to the edge of the cliff to throw the bird.
"Bye-bye." (Y/n) said as she watched the bird fly away. To her surprise, she felt a unfamiliar wight on her shoulder and she glanced over, only to find Mr. Puffin.
'Huh? He never did this...' She thought, slowly putting her hand on the bird's head. (Y/n) expected the animal to cringe away from her, or scold her like usually, but the bird did neither. He stayed still as she started patting his head.
'Does he like me after all?!' She thought as a smile was plastered on her face as Iceland called out to them that it was time to leave.

I can be your New Home Part 3 (Jessie Fleming x Reader)
warnings: â ď¸bloodâ ď¸
a/n: Long ass fic part one and two can be found on my masterlist.
prompt: in which jessie and the reader tell their club team and national teams theyâre dating after a while but things donât exactly go as planned
For the first month, you and Jessie kept your relationship on the dow low. The team loved Jessie and felt as though they had known her forever but she was still a new player who was still finding her footing with the squad. You had always assumed that you would be the one to ask Jessie if you could tell people. Hiding your love for Jessie was hard. You loved your team and had known them for years. You wanted them to know. You wanted your dutch teammates to know as well. And thatâs exactly what happened.
Jessie brought up the subject to you right before international break as you drove home to your apartment. She was basically living there at this point.
"Y/n," she said, turning her head to look at you. "Mhm," you said, concentrating hard on the road as it was raining so hard it was hard to see in front of you. "I can see how hard it is for you not to tell people about us. And honestly itâs hard for me too. Janine keeps trying to set me up with people and all I want to do is tell her that Iâm with you," Jessie said, fiddling with her fingers. "Where are you going with this?" you asked, furrowing your eyebrows. "We should tell people. I want people to know about us. Maybe just our teammates first though," the Canadian suggested. "Yes. Yes yes yes. Viv wonât stop trying to set me up with Williamson," you laughed, making Jessie smile. "If youâre turning down the english captain you must either be insane or in love with me," Jessie said.
It just slipped out.
Her heart dropped and she froze in her seat. It definitely took you by surprise, but her words werenât wrong. "Why would I want the english captain when I have the future canadian captain? And yeah, Jess. I love you. And maybe Iâm also a little insane," you told her.
The day after, Jessie left for spain for international break while you went to norway. It was your first time being apart but you had agreed to tell your national teammates about your relationship during the break, and then tell the Chelsea girls after. Canada was set to play Spain and then Germany, and Netherlands were set to face Norway followed by Portugal.
You took the plane to Norway with Vivianne, excited to see your national teammates again. You loved Chelsea, and it did feel like home, but it was nothing compared to the feeling of being with the dutch girls. You had your headphones in, and so did Viv. Sat side by side, you thought of the best way to tell your team. You soon realized that your perfect test run was right beside you. You could tell Viv about Jessie, hitting three birds with one stone. Tell her about your girlfriend, clear up why you werenât interested in Leah, and practice how you would tell the bigger group.
You tapped Vivâs shoulder gently, pulling her out of the trance her music had created. "Whatâs up?" she said, taking her headphones off. "Um⌠I feel like I owe you- or maybe not owe but i want you to know why I wonât go out with Leah," you said, making her frown. "Okay. Go ahead," she said. "Iâm seeing someone. For a month now. And before that itâs because I was interested in her," you started saying before being cut off. "What! Who is it?!" she basically yelled, slapping her hand down onto your thigh in excitement, making you yelp. "Ow!" Viv ignored you. "Wait. Let me guess. Is it Cuthbert? Or⌠Kerr? Wait is it Guro Reiten? No you cannot let your play be affected by the fact that youâre dating Guro-" Viv spiralled. "What? No! Iâm not dating Guro. Im dating Jessie Fleming," you said.
Viv stared at you for a second. "The shy little freckled girl who doesnât talk and has gotten like⌠one yellow card in her whole life?" Viv said. "Hey! You know who she is! And she does talk. And itâs a good thing she doesnât get booked a lot," you said, pouting at you friends words. "Sorry, sorry. I didnât mean for it to seem like I was judging you. Sheâs really cute, and sheâs really good. I just didnât think she was your type," Viv said. "Well she is. And I really really like her," you told the older woman. "Well if you love her, then so do I. As long as she treats you good," the woman said. "She does," you answered with a small smile. "A Canadian. Huh," she teased.
You laughed and hit her playfully, laughing at her comment.
You arrived in Oslo two hours later, and you were at the training ground two more hours after that. You jumped into Danâs arms, having missed her as she played for Lyon and you didnât see her often. You hugged Jill hard, having missed your best friend more than you could put into words. You had told Viv in the car about your plan to tell the girls about you and Jessie, deciding to tell them during team bonding that night.
You ate supper with the girls, settled into the room you were sharing with Jill, and then headed to the common room for team bonding after having called Jessie.
The girls all talked, you caught up with them, had a drink (sparkling cider, you had training tomorrow after all) and then played games. You did a few rounds of twister, which you quickly realized you were horrible at, and then you decided to play never have I ever.
And why not have fun with it?
"Never have I ever scored a bicycle kick," Dan said, only you and Jackie put your fingers down. "Never have I ever⌠hooked up with a teammateâŚ" Lieke said. People let out 'oooâs'. "Wait do you mean hook up like no strings attacked or hook up like hooked up and are now dating?" you asked Lieke. "What does it matter to you? Youâre single. But for the sake of the game⌠hooked up with no strings attached," she answered.
You smiled cheekily, knowing her words were wrong and then put a finger down. "Who?!" Jill yelled, pushing you. "Not saying. We made a deal," you shrugged. "But iâm your best friend!" Jill yelled. "Precisely," you teased. "Okay. My turn. Never have I ever secretly dated your teammate named Jessie Fleming for a month and told your national teammates about it during a game of never have I ever," you said.
You dramatically put a finger down and grinned at the girls.
"MAAK JE EEN GRAPJE??" Jill yelled pushing you to the floor and climbing on top of you, hitting you in the stomach and making you yell and laugh at the same time. "Youâre joking! Fleming? The shy small little Canadian?" Dan asked as Jill kept her attack going on you. "Yes! Get off of me, Jill!" you squealed. "No!" she yelled. "Jill! Off," Danâs voice said strictly. Jill eyed you and you smiled at her, knowing she wouldnât say no to Dan.
The girl reluctantly climbed off you and sat down with her arms crossed. "How?" Sherida asked you. "Iâm happy for you but she doesnât seem like your type," the captain added. "I donât even know really. She came here and she was really homesick and we just clicked instantly and then soon enough⌠I donât know she has me in a chokehold that you wouldnât expect from her," you said.
Everyone smiled and nodded, scattered words of happiness for you here and there. "Who knew little Jessie Fleming could get you all flustered," Lynn said, making you blush harder.
Barcelona, with the CANWNT
Saying that Jessie was shy was an understatement. She came out of her shell the most with the Canada girls, and was only now starting to actually start conversations with the Chelsea girls. But for some reason, she just couldnât get herself to manage to stand up in front of her team and talk about her love life. It just felt unnatural. If she could, she would have sent a message to their group chat and left it there. But she knew that wasnât the way to do it.
You called Jessie the night you told the team, and asked her if she had told the girls. She felt guilty when she said no, but you made it clear that she could take her time, and she appreciated and loved you for it. But suddenly training had started and it was intense, and no time felt like the right time. And then out of nowhere, it was the fourth day of the training camp and the sessions were done for the day. The entirety of the Canadian team was sitting in the common room, getting ready to watch the Netherlands take on Norway.
Jessie sat with Janine and Sincy on each of her sides, watching the TV intensely. "Okay girls. Just a friendly but who we rooting for?" Alysha Chapman asked the group. "Netherlands," Jessie said right away, pretty absentmindedly. "Okay then. But donât like⌠three of your teammates play for Norway. Only one plays for the dutch," Janine said. "Yeah but Y/n is my girl- close friend. Sheâs my close friend," Jessie said, cursing herself for almost giving the secret, that shouldnât be a secret anymore, away.
"Okay then, Netherlands it is. Everyone agree?" Sophie asked the group. "Letâs go oranges," Julia cheered, making Jessie give her a 'really?' look. "What? Whatâs their cheer?" She laughed. "Itâs in dutch. Kickoff is starting. Watch," Jessie said sternly.
The game was strong off the bat. Players were engaging in hard tackles and making risky plays. But at the 30th minute, it was still 0-0.
"Thatâs bullshit what the hell!" Jessie yelled, lifting her arms up in frustration at the TV. "That was not a yellow," she groaned as she watched you walk back to your position, shaking your head at the supposed yellow card. "Agreed. That was all ball. The ref has it out for her sheâs gotta be careful," Christine said, leaning backwards into the couch and shaking her head in annoyance.
And then, it finally happened. A goal, yes, but also the moment that made Jessie tell her team.
As a corner came in, you made a run towards the near post. You jumped into the air, Guro trying to defend you. You got your head on the ball and flicked it back. But the Norwegian keeperâs reaction was late. As your head hit the ball, her gloves hit your face a solid two seconds later.
Your head went flying to the side, the contact of the gloved fists into your nose making you yell. Your body fell onto the grass with a thump.
All you could do was bury your head into the grass, but it hurt to do so. There was blood everywhere and you turned over, sitting up and lifting your hands in the air. Blood was pouring down your face, smudged on your cheeks and dripping from your chin into your jersey.
"Oh my god," Jessie breathed, her heart racing at the sight of you on the TV. You barely flinched, standing up and trying to get to the referee who was acting as though nothing had happened. Jessie watched you yell at the man, and watched as Vivianne and Dan held you back, Jill trying to examine your face and telling you to stop before you hurt yourself more.
"What is the ref doing is he crazy? Her nose is broke oh my god!" Jessie muttered, tears pooling in her eyes. She knew you would be okay but the fact that the referee was purposely out for you made her angry. And the pressure of telling her team something so so personal was getting to her too.
"Hey, hey. Sheâll be okay, Jess," Janine said, turning her attention it Jessie as the whole team and the freckled midfielder stared at you slowly bowl your head and rest your hands on your thighs, medics at your side. "Jess⌠are you crying? Whatâs going on?" Vanessa asked, standing up and putting her hand on Jessieâs shoulder. "The ref is being an asshole, iâm stressed out and my girlfriend is hurt! Iâm aloud to cry!" Jessie said, her words spilling out of her mouth as though they tasted bad.
Everyone froze, the sound of the commentator saying "âŚand that definitely looks broken, thatâs the most blood iâve ever seen in a game of footballâŚ" echoing in the back. "JessieâŚ" Jordyn said, a small smile on her face eve though Jessie was crying. "Youâre dating y/n?" She said. "Yeah," Jessie sniffled.
"Jeff thatâs great! And sheâll be okay. That girl gets pushed and punched and tackled every game. Sheâs a fighter," Steph said, rubbing her hand on their baby Canadaâs back. "I know. Shit I didnât want to tell you guys this way," Jessie said. "It doesnât matter. Do your Chelsea teammates know?" Kailen asked. "No. Oh look sheâs going off," Jessie said.
Back in Norway
You cursed loudly at the referee, but she didnât give you a yellow, knowing you would be sent off the field anyways due to your broke nose. Your team yelled at the referee, trying to get them to understand that the Norwegian keeper needed a yellow. Even Guro had to call out her keeper.
You walked off the field, holding a towel to your nose, your head throbbing with pain.
It was clear quickly that your nose was broken. But the Netherlands won 3-0 over Norway, so you were happy enough.
So, after getting fitted for a nose brace, you got told to go back to England and rest up. Theoretically, you could play, but your coach wanted to take no chances.
You had told Jessie over the phone that you were okay, and that you were going back to London. You had wanted to go to Spain to watch Jessie, but with the Champions league quarter finals coming up, Emma said absolutely not. And that it was better for you not to gain any jet lag. So, filled with announce, you went home.
You watched Jessie play over the TV, gaining a 3-1 win against Spain and an annoying 2-1 loss over Germany.
She came back home, as in your apartment, two days after the Germany game.
You drove to the airport, even though it was 11:00 pm, and walked inside the luggage pick up area to wait for her. Once you saw her, your face broke into a smile. She ran towards you and jumped into your arms, careful not to hit your face as you were still wearing a nose plaster. She hugged you tightly, whispering words of how much she missed you into your ear. "How am I supposed to go over a week every few months without you?" you said to her as she looked into your eyes. She leaned in and kissed you sweetly. "I donât know. But I donât want to think about being away from you for a long long time," she answered as you put her down.
You got her luggage and then walked towards the car. "Tomorrow, we tell the Chelsea girls?" you asked. "Tomorrow," she said.
You arrived to training the next day, greeted by apologies from Maren and Guro on behalf of the Norwegian keeper, and cries of 'dude there was so much blood' from LJ and Sam. But before you went onto the field, you stood up, having decided you would tell the girls. "Listen. I want to say something quickly but letâs not make a big deal out of it. Me and Jess are dating. Jess as in Jessie. Fleming. Her. Shit," you said, awkwardly pointing towards Jessie. "Doing great," she said, giving you a thumbs up.
You rolled your eyes at her before noticing your teams reactions were all different. Some had their eyes wide open, others were smiling and Magda and P looked like they were trying not to cry. "Are you two weirdos about to cry?" you asked the blondes. "Yeah! Kinda! Our children are dating," she smiled. "Magda that sounds really weirdâŚ" you laughed.
She took a while to notice.
"Oh! No! No not like that! I just mean I see you both as mnt kids. Like. Urgh! Im happy for you guys. Thatâs it," Magda said, standing up and hugging you and then placing a kiss on Jessieâs head. "Okay. Training," you said, clapping your hands together.
"Her children are dating," Sam scoffed, shaking her head. "Where do you get this shit, Mags?" the aussie teased.

I've written a few Nordic fics before, and while I'm satisfied with having not released most of them, there's a particular part of one that I just absolutely love. It's about how Norway found Iceland. It's not historically accurate, just a cute little fic I made once, so here it is.
Colonisation was just never something that was on Norway's mind. Sure, he'd love to have his own colony. The power, the influence, all the great things that came with it, but he saw the way Denmark managed his colonies. He saw the way colonisation as a whole was approached and quite frankly, he wanted nothing to do with it.
At first, his initial impression of colonisation was as follows: you find a cute little baby defenseless country, you claim it, and you raise the nation like a human would a child.
However, this image was shattered by Denmark who treated all his colonies in a way that Norway could only describe as inhumane. He was aware that he himself was no saint. He had hurt so many people and helped Denmark bring misery onto innocent societies, but still.
It seemed, these days, that he was willing to ignore his disdain for the concept of colonisation. His boss was actually quite set on finding a colony, so he was more or less forced to.
His journey so far was actually quite pleasant. The crew knew that he wasn't exactly one for the casual conversation, so he was mostly left alone, and sailing on a vessel that didn't really have a set destination was fun. He tried to enjoy the elements of this journey that he could. The cold air hitting his cheeks, the sun weakly reflected in the wooden deck, the light rocking sensation that came with the gentle tide.
He didn't actually expect to find land. It was just a formality in his eyes. Like pretending to look for something you know isn't there just to convince his boss.
But sure enough, the silhouette of an island grew closer to them. Norway's expression briefly reflected deep concern, though he quickly contained it and stood up to get a proper look.
It was truly magnificent. Glaciers so spectacular, so brilliant, so perfect.
Norway suddenly found himself being excited to discover the beautiful land.
The crew began to quickly file onto the dark beach. The sun had already begun to set, so it was perfect timing too. A few members of the crew scouted the area for a perfect campsite. Another group made sure the area was safe and free of predators.
Norway took a look at the crew, ensured their safety, and set off to look. He knew his crew needed rest, but he was determined to explore right then and there.
The seemingly vacant land got more and more magnificent by the second. Norway felt a sense of warmth spreading through him. This land would make a beautiful colony.
He decided to call it a night and lay down on the grass against a rock.
A small puffling seemed to have already claimed the area. Norway laughed at the sight of the little bird casually hanging around the area.
He finally tore away his eyes to look at the sky. The magnificent sight of the aurora borealis could soothe the most troubled soul.
Norway fondly remembered the times he and Denmark wondered about what they were, the northern lights.
Denmark would turn with a wide grin and loudly proclaim.
"they're bridges! To Valhalla!"
Norway would shake his head.
"no, they're the souls of fallen warriors."
They were only children at the time.
Now Norway would be left to wonder on his own.
His eyes slowly closed shut, and he had finally succumbed to his exhaustion.
Still, he made sure to stay alert and to listen to his surroundings.
The distinct sound of a step being taken drew him to his senses. Be it a human or an animal, he had to make a move.
He looked around and... Nothing.
He knew what he heard.
He got to his feet and began looking around for the source.
The puffling was still there, but it couldn't have made the sound, it's a bird.
Norway's eyes fell on a large rock that had been near him when he slept.
He knew then, in his mind and in his soul that whatever made that noise was behind that rock.
"hello?" he called out softly as to not startle whatever it was.
He got no response.
He slowly got closer until he spotted something. A small, pale hand that could only belong to a small child.
He then heard a soft gasp that reinforced his belief that it was in fact a child.
He approached the rock and slowly looked behind it.
A small pair of brilliant pink eyes stared back into his.
Norway leaned over and gently lifted the child.
It was a very small child. Extremely so. Norway determined the baby to be a boy.
If he didn't know better, he'd judge that the baby belonged to a native, but he did know better. He knew that the baby was in fact a nation.
His colony.
Norway was in awe. Nations reflect the natural beauty of the land. They were all extremely beautiful, but this one...
In that moment, Norway truly understood colonisation. He understood the craze. To be near a young nation is to love it.
The baby had long, soft, white hair, uniquely shaped, beautiful, striking pink eyes, soft, delicate pale skin and a long white gown.
It was so beautiful, and yet, still somehow resembled Norway.
He cupped the baby's cheeks and stared directly into it's eyes.
"you're beautiful and I swear to protect you, to raise you, to keep you safe to the best of my abilities. My colony... I'll name you Iceland."
Technically, nations didn't usually get to name their own colonies. That was an honour typically reserved for their bosses, but Norway's boss had given Norway the right to name the colony as he saw fit to get him to be more enthusiastic at the concept of having a colony, or as the nations would refer to it, having a little brother.
Norway held his little Iceland close, feeling this almost primal need to keep him safe. Iceland looked up at his new big brother, and unmistakably smiled.
Norway could not wait to be a big brother.

I was thinking about America with eagle wings and it turned into an entire AU where the nations have features of their national animals. Animals and headcanons under the cut
Animals (a lot of them have multiple, so I just picked one):
America: Bald Eagle
Britain: Lion
France: Gallic rooster
Russia: Eurasian brown bear
China: Chinese dragon
Canada: North American beaver
Germany: Bundesadler eagle
Prussia: Black eagle
Italy: Italian wolf
Japan: Green pheasant
Lithuania: White stork
Latvia: White wagtail
Estonia: Wolf
Iceland: Gyrfalcon
Norway: White-throated dipper
Denmark: Mute swan
Sweden: Eurasian elk/moose
Finland: Whooper swan
Scotland: Unicorn
Wales: Dragon
Ireland: Red deer
Liechtenstein: Common kestrel
Spain: Bull
Portugal: Iberian wolf
Seychelles: Striped dolphin
Austria: Barn swallow
Hungary: Turul
Turkey: Gray wolf
Greece: Phoenix
Poland: White-tailed eagle
Romania: Lynx
Czechia: Double-tailed lion
Slovakia: Brown bear
Ukraine: Common nightingale
Belarus: European bison
Netherlands: Lion
Belgium: Lion
Luxembourg: Lion
I couldn't find a national animal for Switzerland.
Headcanons:
All of the bird nations have walked straight into a glass door/window at least once.
Wales can breathe fire.
China can control rain and water.
France calls Britain Chaton.
Britain calls France Cock.
Two of the scars on Lithuania's back are where his wings used to be.
Latvia has gotten in trouble with Russia a few times for forgetting that he's the only one who can fly and putting things up where no one else can reach them.
Most of the nations know how to sew so they can alter their clothes to accommodate their animal features.
Britain has, on occasion, locked eyes with France while eating chicken.
There is at least one video on YouTube titled Nations VS Glass that's just the consequences of the bird nations not being able to see glass.
Romano can say he doesn't care when you say something nice about him, but he can't hide his tail wagging.
It's a good idea to be careful around Veneziano when he's happy/excited unless you want to accidentally be beaten half to death with his tail. Something Germany and Japan found out the hard way.
Just like house cats, the lions will occasionally often knock things off tables/countertops.
Poland likes to call Lithuania Pretty Bird. Lithuania blushes bright red every time.
Spain is a bull. Of course he has a septum piercing.
France owns a laser pointer specifically for messing with Britain.
Romano used to pull Spain's tail whenever he wanted attention.
Britain's brothers pull his tail a lot just to get on his nerves.

Chimney Swift
The chimney swift, as itâs name suggests, roosts largely in chimneys. In fact, they rarely roost in hollow trees anymore, their original natural roost. They are also one of the reasons that we study birds with by behavior. Althea Sherman began to study this bird through observation, unlike many of her fellow ornithologists who would study birds by dissecting them. She even commissioned a large, chimney like structure to be built, with stairs in the middle and peepholes so that she could fully observe these birds. She spent 15 years studying chimney swifts. Learn More!
European Dipper
The European dipper is Norwayâs national bird. They are in fact not named for their diving, but are rather named for their habit of bobbing up and down as they stand in the middle of a stream. Their favorite food is aquatic invertebrate, but specifically they love aphipod shrimp. Learn More!

I donât fully know what Iâm doing but Iâd be happy to give an OC for whatever Hogwarts thing is going on! :D
Name: Merryl Happy Sunsdatter
Age: 15
Nationality: American
Ethnicity: Norwegian-American
House: Ravenclaw
Year: 5th
Standing: related to noble wizard and witch families but has muggle parents (magic skipped an entire generation on mothers side, father is normal human)
Gender: biologically female
Pronouns: she/them
Appearance: extremely shortâstands at 5â1 (160cm) pale ivory skin with long wavy caramel colored hair dyed emerald green at the tips (due to a potion prank gone wrong, was the pranked not the pranker) that reaches her thighs with a permanent braid on the right side of head that is intertwined with red string that reached just past the chest. Has a right gray eye with hints of brown and gold, left eye covered by a black eyepatch due to accidental blindness after a run in with a kappa (Japanese yokai/animal or beast) that was brought over seas illegally while visiting said noble relatives in Norway at age nine. Keeps hair out of right eye with golden clips shaped like bird wings. Has a petite frame. Rough hands with scars that they constantly use lavender scented lotion on.
Personality: Merryl is usually a calm and gentle person. Some people call her ditzy because sometimes they get this far off look in their eyes but sheâs actually thinking. A âdoesnât even realize the box is thereâ kind of personâher solutions to problems are unique and out of the box.
Very knowledgeable. And I mean very. In more ways than one.* others call her laid back because they never see her argue or try too hard in class. Merryl is just smart, but she doesnât talk about it.
Backstory: parents ( Astrid Sunsdatter and John Starly {took wifeâs last name}) were normal middle class people that raised Merryl out just in the start of the countryside of Oregon on a family owned farm passed down for seven generations on motherâs side. Merryl liked to read a lot when she wasnât helping her parents on the farm and usually biked to the library in town to pass time(it was a good few miles away, Merryl has high stamina and good legs). The old granny librarian even gave her an end-of-the-year award for âchecked out the most booksâ with a picture of her now sitting on the kind grannyâs desk.
Astrid is seventh generation Norwegian but her three older siblings (one brother two sisters) all moved to Norway after Hogwarts/normal school (only the older sisters had magic) to reconnect with their roots.
So Merryl is eighth generation Norwegian, but during the summer when they were young her mother would take her to visit her cousins and aunts/uncle.
Hence the Kappa incident.**
Visits slowed down after the incident.
Pet: A male Milky eagle owl named Fizz that is unusually clingy and loves to just sit on Merrylâs hawking glove. Taken to Hogwarts with Merryl and loves to deliver mail.
Extra info:
Since Merrylâs center of gravity (I think thatâs what itâs called??) is off because of her eye, running into doorframes is a common occurrence
Is attempting to become an animagus, but failing only because she canât decide what animal she wants to be.
Merryl makes sure she keeps up a beauty routine and self care nights with other Ravenclaw girls are something they set up halfway into first year
Merryl plays around with their hairstyles a lot but prefers to either keep it down or in a braided bun when it might get in the way. Her eyepatch is always black at Hogwarts.
She is almost sorted into Hufflepuff but the hat decides on Ravenclaw at the last moment.
Merryl doesnât believe in gendered colours or clothing. Her favorite colour is a pinkish-lavender not because sheâs a girl but because she simply likes it.
Merryl owns a few Norwegian and German dresses gifted to her by family membersâshe never wears them in fear that theyâll get so dirty they canât be washed
The prank that dyed the ends of her hair green happened in second year
Some students gave Merryl the nickname âHappyâ because sheâs always calm and smiling. They didnât know itâs their LITERAL middle name.
Merryl is ambidextrous, originally left handed until the kappa incident
Likes to dote on the younger years with candy. The younger years love her.
Can be somewhat insecure about her short height at times. Pls donât bully her about it. Say sheâs really pretty and pick her up in a kind of bridal carry and walk and twirl around until she feels better. :(
**A kappa broke away from the illegal trading group it had been captured in and escaped by swimming into a river that trickled into a large lake. Merryl was birdwatching near the lake on her familyâs private property in Norway with her oldest aunt (Aunt Noar) and in a mad frenzy the kappa attacked them and slashed their eye out. Noar was able to save Merryl from getting killed with her Patronus charm (a black bear).
Also just normal book smart. Likes to read romance and fantasy books.
*Merryl has an absurd amount of information/knowledge of things.
Example 1;
Student A: *mumbling to themselves quietly* Where did I put my secret stash of candy and potions again
Merryl, quietly reading a book in the Ravenclaw lounge : Second bookshelf on the left wall, behind the fake back on the fourth shelf down all the way to the right.
Student A: Oh, Thanks!
(They never told anyone about the stash ever)
Student A: Wait a minute.
Example Two;
David: IâmâŚan animagus!
Merryl: I know David.
David: OhâŚand I also liâ
Merryl: I know, David.
David: âŚhow? Do you also know thatâ
Merryl, hands on Davidâs shoulders: I know. I know, David.

Didn't Wanna Feel Old in 2023? Sucks to be You!
Happy 2023 everybody! It's a new year meaning I've got new goals to meet. Goals like finally publishing something, setting up commissions so people can pay me to do what I love, cross-posting between my account here and on deviantART, summoning more kaijus just so they can play elaborate games of poker, y'know, all that good stuff. It also means the return of my 'list of things that have reached a milestone anniversary' list. However, it seems like I've been doing this for so long that these lists have in fact reached their own milestone. From what I could tell, this is the fifth year of my doing this, at least on deviantART. If that doesn't make you feel right from the gate, I present the following:

The Mysterious Peterborough Petroglyphs
The Peterborough Petroglyphs are the largest collection of ancient rock carvings in all of North America, made up of over 900 images carved into crystalline limestone located near Peterborough in Ontario, Canada.
Designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1976, local indigenous people believe that this is an entrance into the spirit world and that the Spirits actually speak to them from this location. They call it Kinoomaagewaapkong, which translates to "the rocks that teach."
The petroglyphs are carved into a single slab of crystalline limestone which is 55 metres long and 30 metres wide. About 300 of the images are decipherable shapes, including animals, humans, shamans, solar symbols, geometric shapes and boats.
It is generally believed that the indigenous Algonkian people carved the petroglyphs between 900 and 1400 AD. But rock art is usually impossible to date accurately for lack of any carbon material and dating artfiacts or relics found in proximity to the site only reveals information about the last people to be there. They could be thousands of years older than experts allow, if only because the extensive weathering of some of the glyphs implies more than 1,000 years of exposure.
There are some other mysteries surrounding these remarkable petroglyphs. The boat carvings bear little resemblance to the traditional boat of the Native Americans. One solar boat -- a stylized shaman vessel with a long mast surmounted by the sun -- is typical of petroglyphs found in northern Russia and Scandanavia. A Harvard professor believes the petroglyphs are inscriptions (and maybe even a form of written language) left by a Norse king named Woden-lithi, who was believed to have sailed from Norway down the St. Lawrence River in about 1700 B.C., long before the Greenland Viking explorations.
Another vessel depicted in the petroglyphs is a large ship with banks of oars and figure-heads at bow and stern. There is a large steering oar at the stern, a necessary feature only for vessels that are 100 feet or more in length. However, the Algonkian people who inhabited the region never built anything more seaworthy than a birch-bark canoe or a dugout. Even reluctant archaeologists admit that the ships "do not look like real Algonkian canoes" but steer away from any controversial conclusions about pre-Columbian visitors by speculating that the vessels are simply a shaman's idea of magical canoes that travel the universe.
Another peculiarity is the figure-heads at bow and stern which resemble birds. The same design can be seen in Etruscan repousse gold work of the 9th century BC. The bird-headed ships were portrayed 200 years earlier, when Egyptian artists carved their images into the walls of Pharaoh Ramses IIIs "Victory Temple" in the Valley of the Kings.
Yet another mystery is the presence in the petroglyphs of a tall figure or 'god' which stands with arms akimbo and with a halo radiating rays, presumably from the sun. Cowering before him are two minute humble humans in attitudes of supplication. Scientists think the figure may represent a sun god but there doesn't exist any known cases of sun worship among the indigenous people of the region.
Some historians and researchers believe there is more to the petroglyphs than meets the eye. Some maintain that they are in fact a sky map of the heavens based on European tradition from 3100 BC. Evidence includes four signs which are the same as those found for the identical astronomical position at Lewes, England, leading to a possible speculative connection between the Peterborough petroglyphs and the megalithic people of Ancient Britain.
So the petroglyphs of Peterborough remain an intriguing riddle, a sort of code to which the key is still missing.

came on tumblr to find some funny fanart and history facts but i blew theough my feed so funky wrring ideas time!
here's a little hogwarts x hetalia idea i was working on to entertain myself the other day
So the premise was that, y'know how in HP there's dragons and a couple are Scandinavian? Norweigen Eidgeback, Sweedish Shoetsnout. And Denmark has a magical government. Finland the personification also probably has some magic because of the whole santa thing, and just becuase tou can't see norway's trolls doesn't mean you don't know Hp magic cuz even muggles can see that stuff. So let's assume countries could see HP magic, just not always do it themselves. And i would hope they know about their magical governmwnts except maybe America who is in denial. Actually maybe Germany doesn't know either but you canMt tell me the Nordics don't know about theirs, not when Norway is right there and Iceland literally has A TALKING BIRD and can probably dk magic if he wanted to and Sweden is up in the air (i like the headcanon he's very much in need of a new glasses prescription) but i want to say he does because finland + isn't durnatrang somewhere up there and potentially in Sweden? And Denmark, well he's besties with Norway sooooo
also you can't tell me they didn't know for 1000 years like c'mon. Older countries def know about magic and younger countries are like modern people, they don't believe it unless it's smack in their face. Can't tell me HTTYD came out of nowhere either and is based on VIKINGS-
anyways lets say this is set like 2000s after stuff dies down
so i had this little picture where the nordics got really bored and what did they do? Hey look, a dragon! Let's ride it!
iceland thinks it's a bad idea but nation power = animals galore so anyways now Norway and Swedenband suprirsingly Denmark are being menaces on dragons. Finland is filmin but soon joins Sweden on his Sweedish Shortsnout. Iceland will keep his feet on the ground thank you very much he does not like flying, when his whole thing is boats and water and fishing.
well before he knows it, the Nordics have a new paatime: professional dragon riding. And professional HTTYD-type fighting. Cuz wizards love old stuff like that.
they get a little popular to Iceland's annoyance
anyways at some point they end up at hogwarts and oh joy this is fine. Iceland just has to talk to each year, because five days = mornings + afternoons = ten slots for this little guest series and if they give years 1-7 one of those slots each and then some extra time for the COMC class and then pne more day for doing whatever like demos or stuff or in case of a delay, it works out peefectly! Iceland as the one not riding gets deemed "the lresenter" but its fine he leads tours of his home all the time anyways being in tourism buisness.
and anyways they're using Norway's usual ruse of "my name is Lukas Bondevik, heir of the Ancient House lf Bondevik" and Sweden pulls out his "my laat name is Oxenstierna" card whoch Denmark stares and gapes at. While sweden snickers, and Iceland just triesbto figure out s family tree to explain that one because seriously you guys one day the public will realize something's up idc if the both governments muggle and matic said it's fine-
anyways he always starts his spiel to the children with with "don't try this at home dragons are DANGEEROUS, yes rhe hirncolor is natural, and for the older ones "no i am taken i am not single" (he's refering to having a life partner in a bird as his one truest friend btw)
and iceland is just kinda done by the end lf it, cuz he's on the ground and the nordics are showing off more and more and finally on the laat day after telling everyone he doesnt fly for pwrsonal reaskns he loses it at Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland teasing him and oop now he's flying and the others are scrambling a little because it's Iceland that knows things the wizards want to know, and Denmark is trying to keep it together while Norway takes pics and Sweden is flying because kh gosh iceland gkt on NORWAY's dragon and Finland is laughing. Hogwarts is amazed the 17 year. Old can also fly but also omfg-
and that's as far as i got for now tbh

Today on May 17th is Norway's national day. A day of parades and celebration. Where you are allowed to eat as many hotdogs and as much ice cream as you want.
While my family gathers at my sisters place for some bbq, I'm staying home sick. I'm completely fine with this lol. I can fry up my own hotdogs and I have ice cream and cider.
The plus side now is that my mom and brother won't have to be worried about the dog being home alone. He has high anxiety and afraid of the wind(really windy here today).
- Michelle
Awwww. Does your dog ever stare at the tv? I like watching animal planet with mine. She likes the bird episodes best

Chapter #3
Norway gets away from the dining table before the banter starts in favour grabbing his current read and heading to the window seat.
"hey! Watch where you're going, punk!"
Norway steps back, startled by the agitating voice of Iceland's pet puffin.
"ugh... It's you... What're you doing here?"
"I live here, jerk! What!? I can't live in my own house!?"
Norway indignantly sits in the window seat, scoffing.
"you're a pet. Only reason I haven't cooked you yet is because Iceland still happens to love you for whatever reason."
"of course he loves me! I'm adorable!"
Norway rolls his eyes.
"hardly... Move it."
The puffin sticks it's chest up indignantly.
"no, I was here first."
Norway gently yet firmly pushes the bird off the seat, much to the bird's rage.
Mr. Puffin quickly flies back up and viciously pecks at Norway.
The two get in a small scuffle that promptly ends when the sound of keys jingling draws their attention.
Norway peers out of the window to find Iceland struggling to open the door in the snow.
He and the puffin both straighten up, both ready to play the victim whenever that door swings open.
Sure enough, before Iceland can even open his mouth, the two flock towards him complaining loudly about the other.
"woah woah! Calm down... What's going on?"
Mr. Puffin, as though he was hit with some sort of spell, immediately drops the yakuza member attitude and suddenly he's the sweetest little vulnerable baby bird.
"Iceland, you left me alone with this barbarian! Look! Look at my feathers! He messed them all up! I think my wing's broken!"
Iceland roles his eyes but picks up the bird nonetheless. Mr. Puffin, thrilled to have gotten the first chance to speak, happily snuggles up to his owner.
Norway groans in disbelief.
"oh ain't that just precious... Shame he left out the bit where he viciously nipped at me."
Iceland tries desperately to hold back a laugh.
"do you need a hug too?"
Norway grumbles for a couple seconds before begrudgingly leaning in for a hug.
"you two really need to grow up."
The puffin, now satisfied with the attention he'd gotten, happily flew back into the window seat.
Norway shoots it him a look before turning back to face Iceland who finally got a chance to take his snow wear off.
Finland stumbles down the stairs, dog in hand.
"oh, Ice! You're back already? We haven't even left yet."
"yep. Is hana okay? She looks pissed."
"she is. Had to spray her with water because she ripped up my scarf... Speaking of which, can I borrow yours?"
Iceland wordlessly hands Finland the scarf.
"where's Denmark?"
"I thought he was up in his room."
"great."
Iceland makes his way towards the staircase and heads towards Denmark's room.
Denmark's room was surprisingly very neat and tidy for someone like him.
He was in fact, in the process of organising his desk when the sound of Iceland bumping into the door frame draws his attention.
"you okay?"
"yep."
"need something?"
"think I'll take you up on your offer now..."
Denmark grins and turns to shut the blinds. He tosses a sweatshirt at Iceland
"you should change first though. That doesn't look comfortable."
He was right. Iceland's sweater was anything but comfortable. It was a sensory nightmare, but Iceland was willing to deal with it in order to look good. It was one of those sweaters that parents have to go to war with their children just to get them to wear.
He steps into the bathroom to quickly switch it out for the much more comfortable sweatshirt Denmark had handed him.
He steps out only to face Denmark directly.
"say uh... You were saying earlier Norway was giving you a hard time at night, eh?"
"oh yeah, but it's not a big deal. Just a rough night is all."
"I was just thinking it'd be best for you to share with me for a bit instead."
"uh... I mean... Yeah sure... Okay..."
"okay. I'll wake you up in a few hours, okay?"
"okay... Uh, wait... I actually wanted to ask about something..."
"oh uh... Go for it."
"my national flower... The Mountain Aven? Yeah, uh... In my dream... It... It was all over. I was just wondering what do you think it means?"
"uh well, it's just a dream but uh... I guess..."
"I felt like I've definitely seen that place before."
"yes, but it's not a real place Iceland, it's a dream."
"no, I remember it."
"Iceland, enough. It was just a bad dream. Stop thinking about it."
Iceland sighs.
"fine... Thanks for letting me borrow your room."
Denmark smiles in relief.
"anytime kid. Get some sleep."
With that, he shuts the door behind him.
