okay. i debated not posting this because I was worried I’d get death threats (that says a lot doesn’t it) but it needs to be said, because its upsetting me.
a woman who publicly says she feels very sane and has “never been to therapy” and who breaks up with her boyfriend in part because he can’t just “”get over”” his depression to love her the way she wants/needs does not.
I repeat, does not.
get to use the imagery she did in her fortnight video.
I’ve been seeing gifsets and screenshots all day of her chained to a bed but ~aesthetic~ and being fed a pill after a cheeky side eye and strapped to a glamourfied ECT machine and no one has said anything about it so I will. those images are genuinely triggering for me.
people have been restrained, forcefed pills, and given electroconvulsive therapy or subjected to the electric chair for severe mental illness against their will. these are not fun props anyone gets to throw around to express that they feel depressed or in a “manic phase” or like they were “raised in an asylum.”
she doesn’t know how a real asylum fried my grandmother’s brain or real cops restrained me because I was psychotic and manic. she doesn’t know what it feels like to be dehumanised that way.
do better. demand she do better, too.
edit: I say that this content is triggering to say that it causes real harm. I do still have a responsibility to myself to curate an internet experience for myself. this does not negate her responsibility to avoid replicating harmful tropes in art which is deeply influential. she does not get to co-opt institutionalization or psychiatric violence as a romanticized aesthetic or as a metaphor because real people like myself have suffered greatly under the things she is representing as glamorous or cool. institutionalization silences and violates mentally ill people in a way that marginalizes them, and that experience should be treated with sensitivity and care rather than being commodified to reduce stigma. if she had experienced these things, I might feel differently, but other ableist content on the record and her statements on her life and art indicate otherwise. she is a woman with immense privilege and power and should not be using that privilege and power to punch down on mental illness.
edit 2: I want you all to know I have seen your criticism. I will not edit the post but I do respect that she has had mental health struggles since that outdated quote. That is my mistake, I own that. My apologies.
However, mental health struggles =/ experience with psychiatric violence. Experiences of mental illness are heterogenous. Aestheticizing, romanticizing, and glamourizing mental hospitals is straight up gross regardless of your experience with mental illness. It’s tasteless and offensive.
I do understand metaphors. I think that her calling her life an asylum as a metaphor is in poor taste. I think her representing her relationship struggles with the imagery of a mental institution is insensitive given the impacts that real asylums and mental hospitals have had on my life and the lives of many others like me, so I had to say something about it.
It’s ableist to assume that critics of your fav “can’t read”, “don’t understand a metaphor” or “don’t have brains” when they clearly demonstrate that they are thinking critically. Do better.

Hey folks. So transphobes are claiming the Madison, WI school shooter was a transgender man who killed two people because of the dangerous effects of testosterone. This is not true, the shooter is reportedly a cisgender neonazi radical feminist who wanted to kill all men. However real trans men are going to be affected by the lie being spread that the shooter was a trans man and that testosterone made her do it. Please check in with your transmasculine friends if you can, you never know who is being affected by this kind of online game of telephone.

I've seen a lot of different takes on Fear Toxin/other fear causing stuff (Yellow Lanterns Ring or something)(later just called Fear Toxin cause I'm lazy) but here is another one.
Danny seems like he isn't affected by Fear Toxin because his biggest fear is that his accident changed him so much he is no longer human, he can no longer truly experience human things.
So when he gets lungful of fear Toxin, he feels normal. He was antsy before, because c'mon, it's a rogue attack but it's not worse. Or so he thought. Because the anxiety lingers. Not enough to register as abnormal just this slight hypervigilance that makes you see things about yourself and your surroundings that you'd never realize otherwise. He'd realize he doesn't blink as often. He'd realize that if he doesn't consciously focus, he sometimes seems to not touch the ground. Forgets to breathe. He can't feel his own pulse at time. He'd realize people will miss him when he's walking down the street as if he was invisible (people just don't care about everyone they pass by). When he'd look straight into his reflection, he'd look slightly to the left. Not enough to actually name anything that was wrong but just stretched enough to fall on the wrong side of the uncanny valley. If he just caught his reflection in the peripheral vision, it'd be vaguely shadowy creature with glowing green eyes and white smoke instead of hair. Overall he'd be just wrong enough to be distinctly not human.
For everyone else, he'd be just a dude. Literally couldn't find more normal dude than this dude. Will pass as absolutely normal human unless someone is specifically looking for ecto-ghost stuff. Even most magic users wouldn't clock him at the glance
Tldr: Fear Toxin makes Danny perceive himself as some sort of eldritch horror but not enough to make him believe he'd actually be affected, while from outside perspective he's Just A Dude™

”byler would be rushed!”
wrong! mileven kissed after knowing each other for around six episodes when they were twelve, and eleven couldn’t speak basic english! mike and will have known each other since they were five and know everything about each other! they have had intense buildup over five seasons!! hope this helps <3
“byler would be poor writing!”
wrong again! mike and will have had deeper more heartfelt scenes since episode one than mileven has and it would reveal how much effort the duffers put in to hiding easter eggs and hinting strongly in this direction for YEARS!! hope you find this helpful <333

Something I think about is how irrelevant James truly is to Harry
James, who Harry wanted to be like, is literally nothing to Harry. He threw himself at the dark lord, yes, but that's all. Just throw, no thoughts.
Lily? Lily had the chance to live. She didn't take it. She chose death, for her son. She's the one who saved Harry. Not James.
And then Snape. Snape who wanted to die when Lily did. Who would have killed himself. But he didn't. Because he agreed to protect Lily's son Harry. He lived for that.
Lily who died for Harry. Snape who lived for Harry.
Lily gave Harry her death. Snape gave Harry his life.
James Potter may have been why Harry was born. Lily Evans and Severus Snape were why Harry lived.
And Lily and Snape, in a way, are united through the boy they sacrificed it all for. In a way, Harry is more Snape's than James'. James is more central to Snape's story as his main abuser, and Sirius' as the love of his life his best friend. In Harry's story? Just the man who impulsively threw himself at the Dark Lord.
But Lily and Snape? They're parts of Harry. Harry carries the love of his mother, the weight of her protection, and he was under Snape's protection even when he didn't know it. They're Harry's protectors. His guardian angels

“how could you like Galadriel with Celeborn he’s such a boring guy compared to her” you absolute buffoon you will not survive the winter. Celeborn being boring compared to his eldritch angel wife is the whole appeal. it’s elf Connecticut Clark x Malvina
you’re invited to dinner at casa Lothlorien and you ask Galadriel to pass the butter and she looks you dead in the eyes and tells you the exact time and place of your death. and Celeborn is just like “isn’t my wife smart 😃”
“what do you see in that guy” “he makes me laugh” a la Jessica Rabbit, but Galadriel’s laugh is absolutely terrifying. Celeborn tells a shitty pun straight out of some dollar store joke book and Galadriel lets out this classic Disney villain laugh, and the sky quakes and you hear fear in the language of the leaves and Celeborn is just like “I’m glad you liked that one ☺️”

Compliments from fellow women are so much better because our sisters don't expect anything in turn and we don't act like we did anyone a favor by doing so. It's just a compliment, a nice one that actually means something and warms our hearts.
Men always act as if they nourished our souls and gave our lives meaning by positively commenting on our physical appeal and so we owe them appreciation, affection, love and our bodies.

Can we talk about how Tamlin is so powerful he managed to use his magic to shield himself from LITERAL DARK MAGIC at the end of book 1 when he kills Amarantha & she lashes out at him to try & stop him but it doesn’t work but then Rhysand is getting swatted like a fly but then in ACOWAR I believe SJM decides veto’s Tamlin’s ability to shield himself against dark magic when it comes to Hybern.
It’s like she remembered Rhysand is supposed to be the most powerful after she made Tamlin too OP so she went back on herself to try & correct her “mistake” in the hopes we wouldn’t remember…except…I REMEMBER SARAH & you will NOT for 2 seconds make me believe Tamlin isn’t on the same level of power as Rhysand or even more powerful than him.
We can also mention that Tamlin killed Rhysand’s dad in one blow a few minutes before the high lord power went to him because that power didn’t go to Rhysand or Tamlin straight away.
Let alone Rhysand himself states that he doesn’t actually know who would win in a fight between him & Tamlin & that a fight between the two would reduce mountains…this is a male that has the ability to mist & control minds & even with those two abilities he’s still unsure…SARAH YOU WILL NEVER FOOL ME!!
The fact that Tamlin has still not learned all his capabilities yet because he’s SCARED of what he’s actually capable of at his full potential & that is wild to me!! The fact that Tamlin likely has a lot more magical abilities that we don’t know yet because he himself hasn’t discovered/learned or trained them is wild to me!!
One last thing in ACOWAR Tamlin fought those hybernian hounds on his own to get Feyre, Azriel, Elain & Briar away, in that same chapter/scene Tamlin uses his wind power that so powerful it got them away safely & we didn’t find out that Tamlin even had that power until ACOWAR & then Feyre watches Tamlin jump so far & high that it’s not even deemed possible for fae to do that & then he winnows mid jump or fall…nope Sarah you could never make me believe Rhysand is the most powerful.

Alright so bridgerton decided to tell a story where they gave their one dimensional 90s-esque blonde mean girl bully a story where we actually see a new side of her and see her learn to be a better person through her friendship with another woman, after previously seeing her treat other women as the enemy and competition we see her putting another woman, her new friend, before herself.
We also don’t just see this character start to grow and change but we learn of her tragic home life who in the second half of the season intends to marry her off to a 70 year old man who intends to rape her until she has at least five forced births. Then she tried to tell her so called women’s rights activist best friend who doesn’t listen because she only cares about her own problems, her mother also won’t help, society doesn’t care so she makes a desperate attempt by declaring herself as whistledown to gain money in her own right to take care of herself and get herself out of the marriage. The silver lining is she actually did manage to get herself out of the marriage so it was a smart move in saving herself but her so called progressive friend makes out that this is means Cressida was always just a bad person and the so called friend never looks at it from the perspective of a woman’s desperation to be free, despite women having freedom has been a major plot point this season and Eloise wants women to be different from societal expectations but no, not like that, not in away that I don’t find morally acceptable. Eloise coud have helped Cressida, the only person to show Eloise kindness and friendship when she needed someone, escape her horrible circumstances regardless of whether she “deserves” help.
But i guess the writers decided despite the development Cressida is a mean girl at heart and did something unforgiveable (but the real whistledown is forgiven quickly) so then they for some reason do a complete 180 and have her resort back to gossiping mean girl who bullies and spreads untrue rumours so that they can justify sending her away to live miserably to make Penelope’s happy ending more cliche by getting rid of her bully instead of making her a nuanced interesting character.
