Chapter 2: New Inspiration

Narrated by Nikki.

Yoyo: Come on, let me take you to my friend’s store!

Narrator: The colorful melody was without end.

Narrator: The waves of people were like schools of colorful fish swimming in this sea for themselves.

Narrator: Walking behind Yoyo, I felt like an unremarkable strand of seaweed, swallowed up in the limitless tides.

Narrator: Yoyo stopped in front of a clothing store with a distinct, extravagant style.

Narrator: The glass facade was full of concert posters, and the door was covered with colorful feathers.

Narrator: Facing a store with such a bold style, I suddenly felt that I didn’t dare to enter.

Yoyo: Here it is, come meet the owner!

Narrator: Yoyo pulled me inside.

Narrator: Inside, it was bright and spacious, and warmly lit by the lamps of all shapes hanging above.

Narrator: The clothes in the store were all hung in this way, too.

Narrator: The bold colors and novel tailoring were showing the designer’s confident and unique style.

Narrator: A man in a suit and a pink vest waved to Yoyo as he walked toward us.

Narrator: He revealed a pair of platforms at least ten centimeters high under the plaid wide-hem skirt.

Narrator: This must be the owner.

Narrator: His eyes paused on me, then flicked over me from head to toe.

Owner: You must be Nikki. Is this your first time coming to The Circles?

Owner: All the clothes here are my own designs; feel free to try whichever you like. I’ll let Yoyo to show you around.

Narrator: Yoyo stuffed several skirts and tops with bright colors and unique shapes into my arms.

Yoyo: Here, try this, and this... and this... and this...

Nikki: These... won’t suit me, don’t you think?

Yoyo: You won’t know until you try.

Narrator: Slowly, I walked out of the dressing room... and in a mirror, saw a brand new me.

Owner: Here, try pairing that with this bag.

Narrator: Unbeknownst to me, the store owner had come to my side. He handed me a small messenger bag shaped like a backpack.

Narrator: The mirror showed me a wilder side of my personality, with the messenger bag adding an unconventional youth to the ensemble.

Nikki: So I can be like this...

Owner: Never thought you could manage this kind of mixed style, did you?

Owner: If you never try, you’ll never know what brilliant possibilities you’re missing. That goes for fitting clothes to clothes, and clothes to people.

Owner: It is this unbridled freshness that has attracted so many young people with strong personalities.

Owner: So it forms the mix and match style exclusive to the Settlement.

Narrator: After leaving the boutique, Yoyo showed me around, but I kept thinking about the mix-match style the boutique’s owner mentioned. What exactly was it?

Narrator: Looking closer at everyone’s outfits, I found that the young people here enjoyed breaking every existing rule about what matched.

Narrator: Their styles and dress were free from restriction and definition. Every fresh thought was mixed in without a thought for rules.

Narrator: I slowly began to understand the core of the mix-match style.

Yoyo: It’s the same for that design competition, too, Nikki!

Narrator: The answer to the problem that had been troubling me became clear, and a preliminary design slowly formed in my mind.

i 100% believe every single adaptation of superman should be judged for accuracy based on how well they understand just how completely unhinged lois lane is as a person. because if you think THE lois lane wouldn’t do [fill in the blank], you’re wrong. she absolutely would do that and she will not be apologizing for it. superman being in love with her only succeeded in making her more comfortable and willing to do insanely dangerous things than she already was. because yes, she will 100% launch her body off a skyscraper just to prove a point. and guess what, idiot? she was right, so it was completely worth it and she will be doing it again. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, lois lane is absolutely bat-shit crazy. clark just happens to be really REALLY into her particular brand of crazy. like there is nothing lois won’t do with the right motivation. she is an absolute force of nature and that should scare the shit out of you.
