I want a JL fic that borrows from X-Men where Clark gets hit on the head a little too hard with something imbued by Kryptonite and suddenly he can’t turn off his heat vision. Cue angsty fic where he’s stumbling around with his eyes clenched shut trying not to get too upset/angry because emotion seems to make it worse, and then suddenly Bruce’s hands land on his shoulders. Calm settles over him. Someone’s talking in his ear, low and reassuring, asking him to open his eyes, that it’s safe, nothing will happen.

Clark opens his eyes, feeling the last of the heat vision fade away. Bruce’s face is inches away from his own. He never doubted Clark for a second. He never feared death, the awful kind of brain-boiling death that awaited him, should Clark fail.

This has been an absolutely horrible couple weeks for the Jewish and Israeli community, so I want to throw in at least a tiny bit of hope in here. Amina Hassouna, the Bedouin girl who was severely hurt in Iran’s missile attacks, has been recovering well and seems to be in good condition! She is described as being ‘fully conscious’ and ‘communicating and smiling’. Two bomb shelters have been placed in Al-Fura, the town that she and her family are from, as well.

anyway sorry but sam and dean are not remotely the same and I resent any suggestion to the contrary. dean is Ideal and sam is Other. dean is Power-Holder and sam is Power-Loser. dean’s role is Masculine (positive, to most of the writers and most of the audience) and sam’s role is Feminine (negative, to most of the writers and most of the audience). dean is Active and sam is Passive. dean is the Leaver and sam is the Left-Behind. dean is the Pursuer and sam is the Runaway. dean is Righteous and sam is Unclean. etc.

more to the point - forget the surface-level shit for both of them; I don’t wanna hear anyone saying queer sam readings are just as canonically unsubstantiated as queer dean readings. sam’s demon blood arc is the crux of the whole damn thing. how are you gonna see one of our two central characters perfectly exemplifying the Monstrous Other and straddling the line between Hunter and Hunted to prompt you to think critically about these classifications overall, and then claim that character is no different from his counterpart who is unquestionably part of the dominant group that counts him as Hunted. baffling to me!

who gets tired of never being seen, even though he’s brighter than a fucking dying star on campus, and yet you never notice him. who gets tired when the campus is empty and you’re all alone. finds a knife that’s almost bigger than your head and chases you across the open fields.

he’s laughing, the whole time. his head thrown back and his smile wide as the blade hangs limply at his sides, as if not in threat. as if your heart doesn’t beat so hard against your ribcage, that you think you hear the bones crack with every thud. like your bleeding heart may burst from your skin and splatter onto the ground before you.

he’s a killer, but he’s kind. he’s a killer, but not to you, never to you. holds you so sweetly when he catches you, because of course; he was always going to catch you. licks away your tears and smiles at you, disarming, everything and not. his eyes too ocean wide, his teeth too bone white. you see your reflection in his incisors. you see prey. you see your reflection in his eyes. you see love. it’s always been love for him.

all you have to do now is accept it.
