Hello world, hope this message finds you well. My name is Melvin a Ugandan gay man trying hard to survive unimaginable challenges and persecution, I am writing to share my story with you in the hopes of seeking assistance.
I've been a refugee for over 4 years, seeking safety and protection. Unfortunately, my journey has been marked by frustrating delays and disappointing refusals within the asylum system.
I fled my home country because I feared for my life after being physically attacked and threatened with death and arrest due to my sexual preferences and that it’s a crime to be a gay in Uganda.
I sought refuge in Kenya but unfortunately, the government and local authorities were unwilling to provide aid to people in my situation. The trauma and hardships I faced in my home country only continued in this new land. I got some assistance and managed to make it to Kalobeyi refugee camp in the north western Turkana region but while there I met other lgbt refugees who fled from Uganda and other East African countries. It was very difficult for me to stay in the camp because of the miserable situation upon queer refugees we had to go through daily.
Desperate for a better life and future, I made the difficult decision to travel to Sudan where I am currently residing. However, I am unable to access basic necessities like food, medical care and other services. Here also I was able to find 250 lgbt refugees but we are living in fear and hiding from the government because it is highly prohibited to be an LGBTQ+ individual in this country.
Upon arrival at the camp, I shared the little resources I had with fellow refugees, demonstrating my willingness to help. Recognizing my leadership potential, I was appointed as a leader for a group of 15 refugees, comprising men, women and children.
In this role I’ve been responsible for distributing scarce resources, and providing emotional support to my fellow refugees. Despite the difficulties, I’ve remained committed to helping my community and advocating for our needs.
However, our situation is critical. We’re unable to access basic needs like food. We’re struggling to survive, If you’re able to help us, please do so.
Your kindness would be a lifesaver to us. We’re grateful for any help, no matter how small
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and considering our plea.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
I'm sharing my story to raise awareness about the challenges faced by refugees like me. We need a fair, efficient, and compassionate asylum process.
Please consider donating or sharing my story with your friends and family🙏🙏

I think it's important to understand that the vast majority of voters do not spend much time thinking through their political decisions because it's simply not something that occupies much space in their minds. You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into, and it's extremely difficult to fight feelings with facts.
Now that the Democratic party's inner core is highly-educated cosmopolitan urbanites, it seems to have lost the ability to deal with that reality.
Most people do not feel like trump is a fascist, or that he wants to be a dictator. Most people do not feel like any of Biden's massive legislative/executive accomplishments improved their lives at all. Most people do not feel like Harris's platform would've actually gotten done or helped them. Most people feel like Trump ran a better economy and that it's Democrats' fault that inflation got so bad.
In an individualistic, selfish nation with one of the worst education systems in the industrialized world, a political party cannot win by serving up a charcuterie board of various poll-tested policies that it then tries to explain to people who could not care less and don't understand anyway. It needs to create an overwhelming feeling, a feeling that changes the minds of people who don't give a fuck about anything but themselves and their wallets. Trump found that overwhelming feeling. Through bravado, cruelty, and levity, he created this zeitgeist of blunt, confident grievance that countless prideful people who feel left behind by the economy could grab onto. This feeling inspired people far beyond his cult of enthusiastic fascists and self-identified bigots.
The country chose trump because Trump's brand, vibe, and message inspired compelling emotions in more people, especially in people who have no interest in civic engagement, don't follow the news, and have been given little understanding of government/economics by our failing education system.
This problem wasn't fully apparent in 2022 during the midterms, when more low-propensity voters stayed home and highly-educated, highly-engaged people made up more of the electorate.

Authentic bisexual stories are long overdue. For too long, the experiences of bisexual individuals have been erased, misunderstood, or reduced to harmful stereotypes. It’s time to change that. Bisexuality isn’t a phase, a stepping stone, or something defined solely by the gender of a partner it’s a valid, vibrant identity with challenges, joys, and triumphs. The world needs stories that reflect this truth, stories that capture the full spectrum of bisexual experiences: love, struggle, identity, and community.
These stories matter deeply. They break down barriers, challenge stigma, and foster understanding. For someone questioning their identity, seeing an authentic reflection of themselves can be life changing. For allies and advocates, these narratives can be powerful tools to build empathy and support. Every story told with care and honesty brings us closer to a world where bisexual voices are heard and valued.
This is a call to action. Writers, creators, and advocates: the time to tell these stories is now. Each story is a step toward visibility and acceptance, a way to celebrate bisexual lives in all their complexity and beauty. The world is ready for these narratives are you ready to share them? Let’s commit to living our truth, one story at a time, and ensure that bisexual experiences are seen, understood, and celebrated. Together, we can create a future where everyone feels recognized and valued.

Bernie is wrong. He has always been wrong and is still wrong. The flaw in his theory is what he deems the “wealthy elite” versus what everyday Americans consider them to be. Voters don’t see all billionaires as the elites. They see college-educated liberals on the coasts, some of whom are billionaires, as elites.
Bernie-style populism didn’t land because billionaires figured out long ago they could undermine it by being socially right-wing, and the working class would forgive their wealth and privilege. That’s why this same demographic is willing to make it rain for grifters like Joel Osteen and Pat Robertson. That’s why they worship the wealthiest man on the planet like a God and consider him some real-life Tony Stark. People dismissed Donald Trump as a shameless attention-hungry New York oligarch until he called Mexicans rapists. Then he shot up to the top of the GOP primary polls. The working class didn’t think much of Elon Musk until he said “pronouns suck.” Then he became their hero. A scion of working-class Pennsylvania lost his US Senate seat last week to a hedge fund manager from Connecticut. West Virginia elected their richest man to the Senate after electing him governor – as a Democrat and later a Republican. Ohio tossed out their longtime Democratic senator, known for his strong support of labor rights, for – literally, no joke – a used-car salesman.
You can’t tell me the working class in America thinks being a billionaire alone is what makes one a “wealthy elite.” There are significant factors at play here Bernie is either oblivious to or purposely ignorant of.
In college, a professor once told me that Communism never succeeded in the United States because we are too religious and proud as a country. Religion, traditions, and culture were never widely discredited the way they were in Europe and Asia, where the clergy and nobility kept the bourgeoisie in figurative chains for centuries. The relative ease of social mobility made America unique compared to its Western counterparts. Historically, American progressivism has been focused on expanding social mobility – initially limited to only white men – to identity groups who had been denied it at the start: blacks, women, and immigrants. We have done it, with various amounts of success. While it may seem counterintuitive, Americans pride themselves in being the nation that pioneered the idea that wealth and status can be achieved through ingenuity and hard work and not just based on a lucky roll of the genetic dice, as it was in the Old World. It doesn’t mean we don’t have generational wealth in our country; we do, but since it isn’t the sole way to achieve wealth and power, we don’t care nearly as much about destroying all of it. Further, we will happily endorse it if the oligarchs and the aristocrats vow to promote and protect the social values we care about and the social hierarchy that benefits us.
It’s one of the reasons I believe Bernie could never beat Trump. If you ask working-class people what they want: an anti-immigrant, anti-intellectual billionaire or a Vermont socialist backed by kids from Harvard and UC Berkeley who hate our traditions and customs, the working class will always back the billionaire.
–Nick Rafter, "Bernie Sanders Can Take a Seat"

I was talking to a friend about this the other day and honestly: I see why they’ve decided to ban all mention of queerness in Florida schools. Not because it’s right but because it destroys hope. It can be so crushing and alienating to be queer and this information ban serves to isolate queer students further. I remember how genuinely and truly happy I would get when reading the textbooks of my classes and seeing the single sentence about queer people existing. I would be ecstatic over the acknowledgment that queerness whether sexuality or gender was a real thing. It was never something that was highlighted more a piece in the background but I remember the first time I was reading my textbook for class and there was a sentence that proved that I could exist and be real. This ban of information is real efficient at removing those bright spots. It is harder to accept yourself when you can’t see yourself.
#Mylife#florida law#pride#Representation matters#it was always such MINOR details (other than my genetics class) but like it made me so happy#Like I took a pic on Snapchat highlighting the sentence in my APUSH textbook and whenever I get the memory I light up#Parental rights in education law#Otherwise known as#don’t say gay#and it’s consequences#Bc that le itself when passed had removed a lot of its worst parts but all the follow up laws Reintroduced them!#Like oh no it’s just till 3rd grade!#Psych!! Get screwed it’s 8th and only special circumstances 9-12#It’s tragic man#It saddens me that the world has shifted the way it has#When I say the world I’m typically talking my very limited world of nation and then state bc like#Born and raised and I don’t plan on leaving so this is like my bubble and I get to feel all the effects on local community#Education brings hope#It is harder to accept yourself when you can’t see yourself

DEMO ✝ BACK-UP ACCOUNT
Wealth. Power. Death.
The Ballad of the Young Gods is a dark academia interactive fiction story, with dark fantasy and psychological thriller themes. Some of the romances also contain tropes and storylines which may be disturbing to some readers.
It is based on media like “Ninth House” by Leigh Bardugo, “The Secret History” by Donna Tart, “Masters of Death” by Olivie Blake, and SYFY’s “Deadly Class”.
It is rated 18+ for depictions of swearing, sexual themes, violence, and death.
Getting into an Ivy League school is a dream that thousands of American students nurse from a young age. Luckily for you, that dream is your reality. Four years of continuous hard work and pressure have made you a proud freshman at Yale University. And as if that wasn’t enough, you have been handpicked to attend Rathore College, whose selection process is revered across all the nation’s top educational institutions. But you should’ve known this stroke of luck came with a catch.
Yale is a crucible of power, where secret societies wield arcane magic and the dead are far from silent. The illustrious House of Styx wants you and this is a situation that not even your money can get you out of.
They are powerful, elite, and most of all, controlling beyond recognition. They are also the heart of the eight secret societies that attach themselves to Yale. From the White House to Hollywood’s most acclaimed stars, their influence reaches farther than anyone can dare to imagine.
A sinister conspiracy brews under Styx’s watchful gaze, one that threatens to unravel the fragile balance between the living and the dead. But in a graveyard of secrets, you and your accomplices are the ones with the shovels. You’re now in a world where the past is never truly dead, and the lines between life and death blur with each passing day.
But some secrets are better left buried, and some prophecies are destined to drag you to hell.
Cédric Armand Lacroix / Céline Armelle Lacroix (M/F)
Vindictive. Conniving. Ruthless.
As the heir to the Lacroix fortune, C is every bit as arrogant as their bloodline demands them to be. Even after the messy divorce of their parents which further led to their disownment by their father, Alain Lacroix, they refuse to give up on their dignity. They’ve vowed to destroy him one day and take what’s rightful theirs, brick by brick. The world bent to C’s whims, what money couldn't buy them, those pale green eyes probably did.
There is nothing that they can’t have, especially if they set their mind to that. That is until you came along and stayed one step ahead of them every time in everything that mattered. It wasn’t just the fortune or the legacy at stake; it was the bruising of their pride, the constant reminder that someone—anyone—could outmaneuver them. But beneath the layers of resentment and anger, there’s something more—something darker, even more dangerous.
An obsession takes root, one that blurs the line between hatred and fascination. And they vow to spend their whole life despising you for everything.
Romance trope: Enemies / Academic Rivals to Lovers.
Vance Kasper Næsholm / Vanessa Karina Næsholm (M/F)
Pious. Haunted. Disillusioned.
Raised under the oppressive influence of a rigid, fire-and-brimstone faith in a Danish Catholic orphanage, they were taught to see demons in every shadow and sin in every touch. Forever haunted by the visions provided by a wrathful God they can neither fully grasp their mind around nor escape from, their only reprieve came on the day they got adopted at the age of six and diagnosed with schizophrenia. But the truth of their ‘psychosis’ may be far more sinister than any medical diagnosis could account for.
As the tides become even stormier and their medications become ineffective when they arrive at Yale, all V can do is hold on to the last threads of control over their lives. Your first meeting almost makes them teeter over the edge.
Now that they’re your roommate, they’re bound to you by fate or folly, but whether they’ll be a stable ally remains to be seen.
Romance trope: Roommate Romance.
Wilhelm Johann Ostendorf / Wilhelmine Johanna Ostendorf (M/F)
Exhausted. Abandoned. Lost.
What does the world think of you when you’re a product of brilliance and neglect at the same time? With an Oscar-winning filmmaker for a father and a mother ensconced on the American board of directors at the Louvre, their pedigree is undeniable, yet it is a legacy more hollow than it appears. While their parents sculpted their careers into masterpieces and amassed accolades, they left W to be raised by their paternal aunt and uncle. A sizeable trust fund and periodic checks served as their parents’ only gestures of care, a shallow substitute for the love and attention their only child so desperately craved.
The only times they had felt more than someone who was deeply unlovable were the summers you spent on rusty swingsets and fast bicycles with training wheels. But the swingsets have long been dismantled, and the bicycles have been traded for cars.
The only questions remain—are you the same kid who saw them, really saw them, beyond the reality of being unwanted and the suffocating looks filled with pity that came with their name? Or will this reunion only serve to confirm their deepest fear—that they are, and always have been, truly alone?
Romance trope: Forgotten Childhood Friends to Lovers.
Dumitru Constantin Diaconu / Dumitra Constantina Diaconu (M/F)
Charismatic. Reckless. Guarded.
D’s name is the one that comes up in almost every conversation about Yale’s wildest parties. A natural-born rockstar charmer with a magnetic presence, they effortlessly draw people into their orbit, collecting hearts and bodies with the ease of someone who’s always been in the center of the gold rush. Despite the countless admirers and the trail of broken hearts left in their wake, you’ll always find them with a Marlboro between their lips and a new person in their arms to warm their bed at night. Their smile is a promise, and their laughter a siren call. In the haze of flashing lights and the thrum of bass that pulses through the walls, they are a heartbreaker in every sense of the word.
Feelings are a complication they don’t allow, a line they never cross. They’ve perfected the art of detachment, of keeping their connections strictly no-strings, because to let someone in would be to risk the vulnerability they’ve long since sworn off.
Will you be the only person they'd let peel back the barbed wire surrounding their heart? Or will you be left with nothing but the faint scent of cinnamon and a tale that wasn't meant to be?
Romance trope: Friends with Benefits / Sex First, Feelings Later. [You will only be able to unlock their romance route through a hookup.]
Maxwell Edmund Whitlock-Singh / Maxine Edythe Whitlock-Singh (M/F)
Duty-bound. Noble. Untouchable.
Politeness and decorum are second nature to M. They are the embodiment of manners, a living testament to the art of subtlety in a world where spectacle often trumps substance. They are the sort of person who commands attention without seeking it, a product of both royal blood and rigorous self-discipline. Dubbed the “Paragon of Styx,” M is a modern Plato, someone who finds as much solace in philosophical debates as in the classical texts they’ve devoured in multiple languages. As the second-born child of the Crown Princess of Wales, they have always understood that their life would be one of service with every action scrutinized, and every word weighed.
Their intellect is vast, but it is their passion for the esoteric that sets them apart. For all their convictions, there is a restlessness within M that even they cannot fully articulate. It is the paradox of their existence—a life of privilege that feels at times like a gilded cage, a role that demands both reverence and obedience. Indeed, heavy is the head that wears the crown.
Will you make them realize that life is more than duties and expectations? Or will you become yet another figure in the background, another reminder of the golden cage they were born into?
Romance trope: Forbidden Royal Romance / Secret Relationship.
Step into the shadows as the wealthy heir apparent to a billion-dollar industry who is just starting at Yale University as a freshman.
Be a part of Yale’s most enigmatic secret society, the House of Styx.
Fully customize your character including: pronouns, gender, physical appearance, personality, sexuality, and more.
Romance 1 out of 5 love interests (all of them are gender-selectable).
Study forbidden knowledge, practice dark magic, and try not to fail at your actual coursework.
Test your mind, body, and soul in rituals that blur the line between reality and nightmare.
Learn about the secrets that your mother took to her grave. Is she really the same woman you remember so fondly from your childhood?
Will you rise to navigate the sinister plans brewing under the nose of the House? Or will your actions drag you and your companions to the fiery depths of Hell.

Asexual theory 101
Right I keep getting asked on most of my asexual posts 'What does this mean OP? Where's the sources?' so imma make a quick ace theory 101 post so if anyone says they don't get it I can say I tried. Let's go:
'What does being ace have to do with race/racism?/There's racism in the ace community???'
Pretty much everything as people of colour experience various forms of sexualisation and desexualisation at the same time, which is why POC are rarely included in asexual representation:
Asexuals of Color Still Seek to Validate Their Asexuality by Ebony Purks
Stereotypes & media about Black masculinity made it harder to come out as asexual by Tyger Songbird
Your Assumptions About Black Queer Masculinity Are Erasing My Asexual Identity by Timinepre Cole
It's Time To Start Celebrating Black Asexuality in Media By Tyger Songbird
Yasmin Benoit: ‘People had a hard time believing that I could be Black and asexual and at Pride’ by Alastair James
Brown and Gray: An Asexual People of Color Zine
'What do TERFS/transphobia have to do with asexuality?'
There's a growing TERF conspiracy theory that asexuality is the side-effect of transitioning. The LGB movement believes the community is exclusively for 'same-sex attracted persons' and so identities that don't involve attraction e.g. the TQIA should be removed. Most backlash towards Yasmin Benoit, aroace activist, is from white TERFs and conservatives:
Acephobic conspiracy theories have transphobic and fascist roots by Sherronda J Brown
'But how can conservatives hate asexuality if they hate sex?'
Because they don't and never did. If the term 'puritan' was used correctly in modern internet discourse, it would be known Christian puritans believe heterosexual sex for reproduction is a gift from god and mandatory so being asexual doesn't exactly fit with that worldview. Their beef is with any form of sex and sexuality that falls outside of cis heterosexual marriage, including asexuality. They're not anti sex but anti sexual autonomy:
"Anti-Sex" and the Real Sexual Politics of the Right by Lee Cicuta (ButchAnarchy)
The religious right is now targeting sexless marriages as “selfishness.” They Want to Ban Those Too by Tyger Songbird
Asexual people targetted by right-wing pundits following landmark report by Harriet Brewis
'What does being ace have to do with gender?'
It's commonly assumed that because patriarchy shames women's sexualities and considers all men's sexuality as biological and unavoidable, that ace women only and exclusively experience dsexualisation whilst ace men only and exclusively are pressured into being sexual beings. This can true as a broad overview but it can vary based on race, disability, class etc. This also becomes complex for asexuals that exist outside the gender binary. This is known as 'gender detachment'.
Impossible for Men, Unremarkable for Women by Canton Winer
My Work on Gender Detachment and Asexuality Strikes a Nerve by Canton Winer
'There's asexual studies now?'
Yup. On the general experiences of asexual people in the UK, including discrimination in education, the workplace and healthcare:
The National LGBT Survey (2018)
Ace in the UK Report (2023)
Specific names:
Asexual theorists: Ianna Hawkins, Michael Paramo, Julia Sondra Decker, Canton Winer (non-ace), Sherronda J Brown, Angela Chen
Asexual activists: Yasmin Benoit, Tyger Songbird, Marshall Blount (TheGentleAce), Kimberly Butler (TheAsexualGoddess)
And I'm gonna update this with more if they're worth adding. I don't wanna hear any excuses anymore or blame towards aces of colour, gay aces or trans aces for not being specific enough anymore. Read!

'julian in the apocalyptic disaster of post canon cardassia as a federation relief aid' is the whole world naturally BUT what about keiko ishikawa o'brien in the apocalyptic disaster of post canon cardassia.
terraforming taken to a whole new level in a planet that has sustained itself in a state of imperial violence during near-extinction for millennia before near annihilation.
agrobotanists as being just as morally complex and heroic and potentially dangerous as doctor or commanders. what does it mean to make anew a place you do not belong to?
what does it mean to be a japanese woman in a post-nationalism federation working in an atomic disaster zone?
keiko defended an irreligious educational path for her students, once, and got her classroom bombed for it. she was possessed by the pagh wraiths, and felt the divine and the horror beneath her skin as a thing beyond time and space.
keiko could do well there - amidst the last scholars of kardasi'or's universities and the last wisepeople of hebitians, trying not to make old mistakes again. maybe she's friends with garak already - maybe she never was, and they only grow to know each other as fellow gardeners in the wreckage.
there's very little left of the old cardassian terraforming structures. there's crop blights and radioactive rain and droughts, and not enough of anything, except for the determination to eke out some life out of the rot.
keiko can work with that. keiko can take satisfaction in her work, pride and humility in the determination to give all her efforts to make green things grow again.
(miles? he be the main parent for once back on earth. he's fine. he's alright, he's got an houseguest who is almost not at all a fugitive living in the attic).
(pay no attention to the espionage and ethical leveraging and unearthing of corruption nonsense him and his bestie are getting into in the heart of the starfleet academy san francisco headquarters, really. molly's teaching her brother to look after keiko's bonsais, and that's what matters).
(he sends keiko cutting edge terraforming technology schematics stolen and perfected from a classified starfleet engeneering folder. it's very romantic, take my word on it).
