Bewitching Your Coffee

I am 100% a coffee drinker. I love drinking it black, I love it in lattes and cappucini (yes, that's the actual plural of cappucino), and I especially love the experience of sharing coffee with another person. And, like everything that comes out of my kitchen, I like finding ways to make coffee more magical.

But even though coffee is a daily essential for a lot of us and has a long history in folk magic, people don't talk about it nearly as much as tea magic. I did some digging, and this post contains my research into the magic and lore of coffee and the things we like to add to coffee. I hope my fellow kitchen witches find this helpful!

Correspondences of Coffee and Common Coffee Add-ons

Coffee: Used for grounding and to anchor a spell in the physical world. Useful in spells for mental clarity and enhancing psychic senses. Used in several types of American folk magic as an offering for spirits. Author Starr Casas uses coffee for powerful cleansing and blockbusting in her Southern folk magic practice. Because of its association with energy and movement, coffee can be used to add strength to spells. I personally associate coffee with the Earth and Air elements and with the planet Uranus.

Milk has different correspondences based on whether you are using cow's milk or a plant-based milk.

Cow's Milk: Associated with nurturing, love, and abundance. In pagan Ireland, offering someone milk was an effective blessing. Milk and cream are said to be favorite offerings of fairies. I associate cow's milk with the Water element and the Moon.

Soy Milk: Soy may have been a sacred food crop in ancient China and is associated with blessings. During the Japanese festival Setsubun, soy beans are used to repel bad spirits and draw good fortune in a practice called mamemaki -- soy products can be used in spells for protection or good fortune. Use soy milk or other soy products in spells for success, good luck, and prosperity. I personally associate soy milk with the Earth element and with the planet Jupiter.

Almond Milk: Associated with prosperity, wealth, and success in business, as well as with increasing wisdom. Almond milk and other almond products are associated with the Air element and the planet Mercury.

Coconut Milk: Associated with purification, healing, and protection. In African American magic traditions, coconut can be used for peaceful home work and protection work, as well as ancestor offerings. Coconut is associated with the Water element and the moon.

Oatmilk: Associated with prosperity and money magic. Oats are associated with the Earth element and the planet Venus.

Sweeteners attract sweetness and good fortune. Different sweeteners have their own associations.

Sugar: Associated with love and lust. In Southern folk magic, sugar is sometimes used in money work. Sugar is associated with the Water element and the planet Venus.

Brown Sugar: Has the same associations as regular sugar, but works more slowly because it contains molasses.

Honey: Associated with home, family, love, and blessings. In Southern folk magic, honey is sometimes used in domination or control work, especially honeycomb. I personally associate honey with the Water element and with the planet Venus.

Maple Syrup: Associated with love, money, and long life. I personally associate maple with new life and transformation based on Robin Wall Kimmerer's writings about them in Braiding Sweetgrass. Associated with the Air element and the planet Jupiter.

Artificial Sweeteners (Splenda, xylitol, and other man-made sweeteners): There's very little written about the magical uses of these sweeteners, but I personally associate them with creativity, innovation, and new discoveries. I associate these sweeteners with the Air element and the planets Mercury and Uranus.

Caramel* is actually made from sugar, which is cooked over low heat until it caramelizes, or turns brown. Caramel has the same magical associations as sugar, but with a stronger connection to Fire energy and to transformation.

*Note: In the US, "caramel" is often made with corn syrup. For example, the caramel drizzle at Starbucks is basically 100% corn syrup, or at least was when I worked there a few years back. This isn't to say you can't work magically with corn syrup-based caramel, but the energy will be different. I don't have experience here because I have a corn allergy, so I'd love to hear if anyone has experience working with corn syrup in witchcraft!

Chocolate** is originally from Latin America and was an important ceremonial drink in Mayan culture. In Mexica (Aztec) culture, chocolate was used as currency and was said to be a gift from the gods. It was associated with the devil and with witchcraft when it was first brought to Spain by colonizers. Later, during the Renaissance, it was seen as a miracle cure for all kinds of medical conditions. Based on its history, chocolate can be used in magic for love, sex, energy, spirituality, magical abilities, and healing. I personally associate chocolate with the Fire element and with the Sun.

**Note: Scott Cunningham includes a note on "chocolate" in his book on magical herbs, but this is actually carob, Jacaranda procera. The cacao tree, which produces chocolate, is Theobroma cacao.

Cinnamon is associated with success, healing, adding power to spells, spirituality, wealth, and protection. Cinnamon is important in Christian folk magic because of its use in the Bible. In Southern folk magic, cinnamon is used for money, luck, and lust and is said to work very fast. It can also be used for blessings and protection spells. It is associated with the Fire element and the Sun.

Clove is probably most famous for its use in spells to stop gossip, but it is also used to drive away harmful spirits and to attract wealth. It is also sometimes used in love and sex magic and for successful business work. It is connected to the Fire element and the planet Jupiter.

Ginger adds power to spells and situations. It is used in spells for love, money, success, and healing, but it can be included in any spell to add power or make results happen faster. Ginger is associated with Fire and with the planet Mars.

Hazelnuts have long been used in Western European folk charms for luck and good fortune. It is said that eating hazelnuts makes you wise and can increase fertility. Hazel is also associated with protection and with granting wishes. It is connected to the Air element and the Sun.

Lavender is used in love spells, especially spells to attract a masculine partner. It also has a strong association with peacefulness and with calming emotions. It is sometimes used for protection and is said to both attract and banish spirits, depending on the source. Lavender has a long historic connection to the queer community. It is associated with Air and the planet Mercury.

Nutmeg is most famous as a good luck charm, but it is also used for healing, money, and success. In Southern folk magic, it is used mostly for money, success, and good luck. It is associated with Fire and with Jupiter.

Peppermint is commonly used in healing magic, but it can also be used for purification, attracting good spirits, divination, love, and money. In Southern folk magic, peppermint is used for hex breaking. It is associated with Fire and the planet Mercury.

Vanilla is strongly associated with love and comfort. It can sometimes be used in lust spells. Scott Cunningham mentions using vanilla to replenish lost energy. It is associated with the Water element and the planet Venus.

Magical Coffee Brews

With these ingredient correspondences, you can easily mix a spell into a coffee drink. For example, a pumpkin spice latte (which is made with pumpkin pie spice, i.e., a mix of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves) can be a spell for money and success. A lavender latte with oatmilk could be an excellent love spell, especially for queer love. A peppermint mocha (coffee with chocolate) could be a healing spell. There are lots of possibilities for a magic brew!

Little Ways to Love Your Life

I love performing little rituals to enhance my life. It's infinitely satisfying and it reminds me why living is so beautiful, on days when I start viewing the world through a pessimistic lens. This is your reminder that there's so much beauty in the mundane, just start looking for it :)

Here's some things I do that make me love my life just a little bit more:

Wake with the sun:

There is nothing better than opening your eyes to golden sunshine on your face. The golden hour has this quality that makes you feel like royalty.

Move your body:

Give your body a dose of endorphins by doing some exercise! Go for a hot girl walk, hit the gym for a sweaty HIIT sesh, or just groove to some Just Dance. I promise it will make you feel like you can conquer the world.

Smell sweet:

Put on a playlist and sing as you shower. Lather yourself up with sweet-smelling soap, and after you step out of the bath, slick on some vanilla scented moisturizer, and perfume. Don't forget deodorant! Make sure to stick with organic products because chemicals can irritate your skin.

Food = love:

A full stomach is a happy person. Make yourself a cup of coffee, and a hearty breakfast. Take note of the way milk swirls into the dark coffee, how the egg sizzles in the pan. Allow yourself to just exist in the moment, where you are taking care of your mind and body.

Self-love:

While I eat healthy 90% of the time, on days I really need to feel excited, I go buy a pain au chocolat from my nearest artisan bakery. It's one of my favourite foods to indulge in and it always makes me smile. Likewise, buy yourself something nice. It could be a new shirt, a bouquet of flowers, or designer chocolates. Indulge in yourself. You deserve it.

Look at beautiful things:

I don't mean window shopping or aesthetic Instagram pictures. Go out and observe. Look at the shape of the clouds, and how the trees dance in the wind. Pet that cute dog. Smell the wildflowers. Disconnect from the online world, even if it's for half an hour. Give yourself that much time.

Take pictures:

Screw retail therapy, taking aesthetic pictures is my new thing. Take so many pictures. The way sunlight filters in through your window, a cat stretching, a close-up of a flower, your Starbucks mocha latte. Unleash your inner photographer.

Pursue your hobbies:

When I'm down I play the piano or whip out my glue gun and craft my worries away. Doing something you love instantly puts your brain in a good mood. It could be tennis, gardening, quilling, birdwatching. Whatever you love. Do it.

Restrict your social media:

I was unknowingly comparing myself to all the girls I saw on Instagram and it was so detrimental to my self-esteem. I ended up deleting the app. I'm currently planning on reinstalling it by July next year. Delete the apps that do not make you feel good. You will have more time to dedicate to work, hobbies, family and relationships.

Finding joy in the mundane is the most healing thing you can do. Make your routine special, and switch it up once in a while. Don't shy away from your dream life, because you DESERVE it. You deserve EVERYTHING you ever want, okay? Now go get it. xoxo

After a long day of preparing the fields, working the mines or fighting in a war that seemingly has no end, nothing sounds better than a good meal! All that labor really gets the appetite going, and hot food on a full table would be a blessed sight to any soul! And now with a war going on and supply lines disrupted, food has become more important than ever before! So lets see what's on the menu:

1. Hair Bulbs - Collected from hair fields or hair farms, pulled straight from the ground! These fleshy pods are at the end of harvested strands, and removal of them is necessary to use the keratin stalk. These bulbs are oily and meaty, often roasted either whole or in slices. They can also be squeezed for sebum oil, which can be used for cooking, lubrication or protective coatings.

2. Chitin Flour - A staple in baking, this substance is made from the pulverized exoskeletons of arthropods. As long as the shells contain chitin, any insect will do. Most of the time, chitin flour is made from all the leftover pieces of a hunted arthropod, as a way to use every piece of a kill. The flour you find in most villages is made up of an assortment of different species all ground up and mixed together. The finer stuff you find in high end bakeries are made from one species only and from specific parts, as food snobs claim that combining multiple sources into one muddles the flavor and makes poor quality flour. To be fair, using one species tends to preserve their exoskeleton color in the powder, while mixing usually results in the same drab brown.

3. Kumis - The star of any bar or tavern, kumis is an alcohol made from milk. A popular drink for any, its flavor is dependent on its source, as kumis can be made from any creature that lactates. While milk from beasts is often the common and cheaper option, many say that human breast milk makes the finest kumis. The demand and love for both milk and kumis is what led to the creation of milk maids, those who have trained their bodies to make copious amounts of the stuff. Popular bars typically have known milk maids under their employ, and pride themselves on having the pure stuff. In some cities with a vibrant nightlife, there are famous milk maids in some establishments whose product is widely sought after by fans and kumis connoisseurs, as they specially monitor their diet and lifestyle to produce their iconic flavor.

4. Louse Egg Kebab - A common food in villages that are near hair fields. The eggs of the Field Louse is harvested by taking the whole strand, as the secretions used to glue them to the keratin is too obnoxious to deal with. While trimming the hair can release the eggs, most folk go the simple route of stiffening the strand and then cooking it over a fire. The eggs are then eaten straight off the stalk, and the rest is discarded. A favorite for travelers passing through hair fields.

5. Eye Stalk - A fleshy growth that produces eye-like fruit. These are either eaten as is, or cooked into eye jelly. Belief is that they help improve eyesight, though some folk dismiss that due to their lack of Tears. Since Tears are an unofficial humor of the eye organa, folk would imagine that anything truly eye affecting would be tied to the chilling fluid. Regardless, the fruit is still pretty tasty, and the jelly is a popular spread for breads.

6. Clot Cakes - A baked treat that is made from copious amounts of clotted blood. Typically made by mixing clots and chitin flour, it is a dense loaf with a sharp flavor. Its heaviness and ability to survive travel well makes it a good ration for those on the move. "Clot Cake" is also a derogatory term for the Crour.

7. Bile Salt - Made from specially dried Yellow Bile, this substance of cleansing and purification can also be used for cooking. Its addition to a dish adds a pleasant pop and burn. It is a favored seasoning for travelers and nomads, as it serves as both a flavor enhancer and disinfectant for wounds. If used on an animal bite, you are sure to get the common quip of: "oh, did they complain to the chef?"

8. Black Crust Oven - A crude cooking technique that involves molding thick Black Bile clay around a piece of meat. This giant wad is then cooked directly in a fire, where the clay hardens and the flesh is roasted. When done, the solid chunk is fished out and cracked open. The meat inside is infused with Black Bile as well as a thin dark crust. Is said to give it a nice earthy flavor. A meal for the busy man, it can be chucked into the fire and left to cook as they work elsewhere. And then when you get back, a hot meal is waiting for you!

9. Termites - A food either collected from the wild or harvested from termite farms, these are the go-to whenever one needs a boost of Black Bile in their system. The majority eaten are workers and soldiers, as their dry roasted bodies are either enjoyed as is for a snack or sprinkled onto a dish for crunch. Queens are a rare treat, as harvesting them deals a hefty blow to a colony. When a Queen is served as a dish, it is a meal to be shared and for showing off. Their flesh is said to boost mental capacity, and it is an iconic dish at scholarly banquets.

10. Chewing Fat - Strips of fat taken from a beast that are often considered too poor for eating. Rather than cooking them into tallow, one may take these thin layers and chew on them. While by no means a meal or even a substantial snack, it is an enjoyed sensation of gnawing on these chewy strips. They can be dusted or infused with different flavors, and are a fun treat for kids. In war times, this enjoyable gimmick has taken a more grim purpose. Due to issues with food supply, hunger is rampant in the war torn regions, and these strips of fat taken from the rare kill are used to help curb these pains. It is believed chewing helps fool the body into thinking it is eating, and the act of doing so makes the stomach growl less.

11. Clot Shot - A drink made of fermented venom and a dose of blood that has congealed into a clot. The venom and crimson patty are downed in one go. A favored shot for warriors and hardened folk, who feel that the burning venom and meaty burst of Blood helps invigorate them and get them into the fighting spirit. Some folk cut up the inside of their mouth so that the fermented venom can seep inside, allowing the effect to be even stronger. Be warned, as getting too much of a dose can knock you out cold, which is the opposite of what you want when going into battle.

12. Finger Fungus - An edible fungus found growing in damp dark places, often crevices or buried under leaf litter. Their growths give the impressions of hands reaching up, and horror stories tell of ones that can drag you down into the earth. However, they are just a simple fungus that is used in a variety of dishes, with folk normally cutting off the fingers and leaving the rest so it can regrow.

13. Scab Crackers - A thin crisp baked food that is made from pulverized flesh and fluids that has been dried. These crackers have very low nutritional value, as they are often made from the worst quality supplies. However, they can last a very long time and they help fill the stomach, thus they have become infamous rations for many travelers and soldiers. Though they get the job done, these crackers are always met with groans whenever they are the sole star on the day's menu.

14. Oliphant Gizzard - A prized cut from hunted oliphants, these organs are how they grind up solid food that they have inhaled. This tough piece of meat requires lots of marinating and cooking to help breakdown its chewy nature. Despite the amount of work needed to prepare it, it is considered a delicacy. Eating it is said to help with memory, with some famed dishes claimed to allow one to remember snippets of a past life. As one always knows: Oliphants never forget.

15. Madman's Tongue - The fleshy appendage taken off of an Arimakki Hara, the reason why anyone would want it is a mystery. Arimakki flesh is tainted with Feverish Sweat and considered inedible. However, there is a way to "cook" it so that consuming it doesn't destroy your body. Due to the intense sickly heat their form produces, Arimakki meat must be "cooked with cold," immersing it in a pot of chilled icy water. This tongue has been freeze cooked with Tears and skewered. Eating it causes intense hallucinations that can last for hours. Some claim it is the gateway drug to joining the Arimakki, as eating too many of them can make you start thinking like them. For obvious reasons, consuming Arimakki flesh is strictly forbidden by the Church.

16. Blood Meal - A simple powder made from dried Blood, used as a spice or added into meals to help with one's Blood levels. Where this crimson dust really shines is for vampires, who find it vital for a Blood fix on the go. Pouring this into water is their version of a quick crude meal, and it is far easier to carry around than the humor. If you ever see anyone eating this powder as is by the handful, then you know they got a Blood problem.

17. Gourd Maggot - A larval bug that buries itself in the soil and absorbs nutrients from its surroundings. Targets more fleshy regions, where it can get more meatier soil. Pulling them out is incredibly difficult due to their swollen bodies and backward facing barbs. Most folk dig them out so that they can be cooked up and eaten, but some people with something to prove insist on yanking them out by hand. Typically done to show off, as there is literally nothing to gain by this outside of letting others see your strength. And often it winds up with people seeing you fail, as they are, indeed, very hard to remove by hand.

18. Clogged Popper - An appetizer made from a sheet of skin that has been stuffed with meat, veggies and fat then bundled. Cooked up til they are bloated and sizzling, then popped into the mouth for a wonderful flavor explosion. Very juicy, have a nice burst to them and the varieties are endless. Some like to categorize them by the use of white meat or dark meat.

19. Vein Eel - A boneless creature that slithers through ancient veins and underground fluids. Fished up to be cooked and enjoyed. What fluid it has been immersed in recently affects the flavor and quality, thus folk get picky on where they are harvested. Be wary of its bite though, as it has sharp teeth and an incredible grip.

20. Phallus Clam - A bivalve that is frequently harvested, deshelled and eaten. Due to bivalves being associated with Milk and their appearance similar to genitalia, species like these are said to be aphrodisiacs and help with fertility. For males, the size of the clam is said to determine its potency, with the notion of bigger is better. Thus, they have been over harvested by eager lovers and local populations are pretty much wiped out. What remains are more aggressive and dangerous species, making the collection of these popular dishes far more difficult.

21. Leaky Spleen Mushroom - A dripping fungus famed for its spleen-like appearance and secretions. This black liquid is compared to Black Bile, and is said to share similar properties. This inky goo is collected and used as a cooking ingredient or spread, while the fungus itself is a fine substitution for offal. Mushrooms like this are why Black Bile is often associated with fungi, even more so with the fact that termites enjoy fungus as well.

22. Adipose Fin - A large blobby fish known for its gelatinous meat, as it is equated to fat. With the other name of "fatfish," they are harvested for "sea tallow," or to be processed into flammable fuels. Due to the fatty nature of their flesh and the fact that they are bottom feeders, eating them as is is not typical. Children get a whole lot of fun from poking and slapping this wobbly fish before it is prepared. Best step in before they start throwing it at each other.

23. Brain Curry - A popular dish, served with any kind of brain, be it beast or even man. Claimed to be a soothing dish, particularly for those with restless or aching minds. Human brain curry is incredibly rare and often frowned upon, but the rich and superstitious believe this to be the most potent of them all. Some folk have even targeted high up Philosophers to get their incredible brains for a forbidden meal.

24. Ambrosia - Referred to as “Food of the Gods,” it is a rare holy food made with Ichor. Due to the toxic strength of the Godly Fluid, it is used in small, carefully measured amounts. Consuming it is said to cleanse the body of all sins and aid in restoring balance in the body’s humors. Those who eat it feel a rush of strength and energy, making one feel like a god. However the process to make it is incredibly complicated and the amount of Ichor used is extremely precise. Too little makes its effects nonexistent, but too much can outright kill the consumer. Saved only for high ranking members of the church or for wealthy “donors.” Rumor claims that the highest members of the church eat nothing but Ambrosia, which would explain their long lives.

25. Stuffed Snails - A dish for any fellow looking to replenish their Phlegm levels, snails are considered the food for wise men. Seasoned and stuffed, then served with a fine buttery sauce, you would have to search far and wide to find someone who doesn't enjoy this meal! Usually made with smaller species of snail, as they are easier to raise in larger numbers. Bigger specimens make for quite the feast, but this dining experience often does away with the etiquette and fine utensils that comes with regular stuffed snails. Some folk get too enamored with the delicious bounty before them and practically crawl into the shell itself to devour its contents.

26. Jellyfish Noodles - The tentacles of a jellyfish harvested and cut into fine noodles, a popular dish for users of Yellow Bile. Though they possess a slight burn, the noodles themselves lack a strong flavor, and thus make them good in a variety of dishes. Some folk skip the noodle step of jellyfish prep and stuff their bell with meats and seasonings. Fans of jellyfish dishes demand a stronger burn, as they develop a tolerance over time. One should be wary of what species is used in their meal, as some recipes make for a dish that could scar if you are not ready for its bite.

I know this kind of stuff isn't what folk are really interested in, and it isn't that exciting of a piece, but I thought it was fun to think of food and what people would eat in this world. It's also a part of me trying to express the fact that people live in this place, and outside of the war and horrors, this is still a world that has a civilization and folk living their lives.

Kirigakure Worldbuilding II - Specialties

Inspired by a recent conversation I had with @pxssy-stuntin-for-itxchi, I got wanted to add more to my Kirigakure worldbuiling post!

Food Preservation Since except for a month during the winter, it never really gets cold in Kirigakure. This has lead to its citizens becoming very creative at enhancing the shelf life of the food that they have. Meat/fish is dry-aged and smoked, fruits are turned into preserve, cheong, or slow-dried. Dairy is a luxury in the water realm, so there are a lot of plant based dairy alternatives already, so it’s no surprise the wave realm has a quite big vegetarian and vegan population. Even though their spice tolerance is not the highest, when talking SALT tolerance, no village can beat Kiri. They are VERY generous with salting their food. In order to get a smokey flavor to any dish, you can obtain smoked salt everywhere in the country. The water realm was the first region the come up with the concept of fermentation of food. Milk is turned into yoghurt and cabbage is turned into kimchi and its more popular variant - sauerkraut. Fun fact: Suigetsu comes from a high ranking caste, so he actually was able to afford dairy yoghurt and jello with actual gelatine, and they're his favorite foods.

Kimchi and Sauerkraut

The general spice tolerance of Kiri citizens is not the highest across the shinobi world, so kimchi is mostly exported to Konoha and Suna. The cabbage grown in the water realm is specifically bred to be extra heat resistant and crunchy. In order to cut down on waste, the excess is turned into sauerkraut juice. To put less of a strain on the public healthcare system, the water realm government has issued its citizens to exercise and eat healthy – especially children. To get more children to drink sauerkraut juice, it is produced in portable, biodegradable little juice boxes which are handed out for free in the Kirigakure academy. Every Kiri genin has tasted it atleast once. Scurvy was once a big problem for most shinobi going on long term stealth missionas, since most just lived off dried meat and crackers, except for Kiri Nin, since they always carry sauerkraut juice (and kumquats) with them.

Fruit

Mangos: With their sweet and fruity taste, they’re popular amongst children, especially when dried, rolled into balls with an added sugar crust. While other countries see them as a special treat they’re a staple in Kiri. Papaya: Another Kiri staple. It is eaten either as a fruit in its orange form or in its green form in more hearty dishes. The seeds are ground and sold as a pepper alternative. Its extracts of the are used by the Kiri beauty industry, which is the biggest one, closely followed by Suna's beauty industry. Peaches: Often grown on the mountaintops of the water realm, they’re loved all over the country. Peach trees are seen as a sign of fertility, renewal and good luck. The pits are turned into persipan, which many foreigners don't like. Durian: Those stinky fruit are banned in Kiri’s public spaces. However, it is still the most popular fruit overall, so only a few get exported yearly, much to the other countries' durian lovers' chagrin. Jackfruit: Not a lot of Kiri citizens like its fleshy texture but it is often used as meat alternative by Kiri’s large plant-based population. Lychee: They’re often sugared and canned, or added to jelly. They're amongst the most popular fruit to make cheong with.

Kumquat: Kiri nin love them because they’re basically easily portable, vitamin c filled snacks. Other honorable mentions include: Rambutan, Mangosteen, Starfruit, Cherimoya, Soursop, Yuzu and Tamarillo.

Jelly If you’ve read my last post on Kiri specialties, you probably know that instead of manufactured candy, Sweet tooths (teeth?) in Kiri chomp down on dried fruit, fermented sugary sticky rice and – jelly. Gelatine, like most non fish animal products, is a luxury so most jellies are made with agar-agar, a plant based “gelatine”. Just take some fruit juice and set it with agar – and there you have jelly. Most foreigners find Kiri’s obsession with jelly pudding off-putting, but that doesn’t stop them. Fun fact: Suigetsu comes from a high ranking caste, so he actually was able to afford dairy yoghurt and jello with actual gelatine, and they're his favorite foods. Non food fun fact: As genetic engineering gets more advanced and Kirigakure already having no issues using bacteria, they're also the biggest exporter of nutrient agar for agar plates which are used for the cultivation of bacteria and funghi. Kigakure is the leading village when it comes to biological and medical advancements, which is why Orochimaru has visited very often (and eventually ran into Kimimaro)

Leftover Dough AU

The premise is that when the Witch of Light and her coven made the Beast Cookies, there was leftover dough from each Beast that was stored and labeled in the castle under a preservation spell. So, long after the Shadow Witch began her experiments within the castle, she found the Beast Cookie's dough. Now, this is were the AU gets a bit convoluted to make it work. Instead of seeing the doughs as the finished products that they were, the Shadow Witch thought they were ingredients for the old covens ultimate dough. This is due to the fact that the Beast Cookies have cookie ingredients as a part of their names.(Or, you know, there was just so little dough she just decided to merge them all and see what happens) This is how Gingerbrave was born in this AU! His dough was made from mixing all the Beast Cookie's leftover dough together.

I also can't help but imagine that the Beast Cookies were made to be giants when compared to other cookies, but they all have an innate ability to change their size. So, Gingerbrave in this Au is actual just a child and will grow to be just as large as the Beast Cookies. There is also the possibility that Gingerbrave might gain abilities unique to himself in this AU. Another thing I am pondering is that since the Beast Cookies were made for their Soul Jams. Would my AU Gingerbrave cause some kind of reaction from the Soul Jams, like causing them to glow if he was near or touched them? Could he use them or give them a boost by acting as a substitute to their missing half(or enhance them when their whole)? Can he sense Soul Jams when they are near him or maybe he could have always felt them like a presence within his mind? Would the Ancient Cookies also have some kind of reaction to his presence?

Another quandary is how will the Beast Cookies be affected by his presence? Since this Gingerbrave is made from their leftover dough, that would make him the little brother to all the Beast Cookies in this AU. On one hand, I could go with them seeing him as a way to bypass needing their Ancient counterpart's Soul Jam to accomplish their goals, but on the other hand, what if his presence is also addictively soothing to them. What if cookies made from the same dough and baked by Witches have a pacifying effect on each other that makes them not want to harm or part from their sibling (batch-mate?). This would also have to be a phenomenon that only occurs with Witch made cookies, while cookies like Custard Cookie The III have a more human relationship with their siblings.

I also have to acknowledge how the sealing may have affected the Beast Cookies. Since three of the Beast Cookies have yet be be released, I can really only ponder on Shadow Milk and Mystic Flour. Shadow Milk is for sure a little crazy and I think all the Beast's were conscious throughout the entire time they were sealed. Shadow Milk also probably really hates when it is quiet and dark since it would remind him of the seal (this would probably make him use the calming effect of batch-mates to chase away his discomfort while also trying to cover up his true intentions with some other reason for his actions). Mystic Flour probably won't really change personality wise that much, however, she will be the stone faced character that is cuddling their baby sibling in private with no facial change (a kuudere, maybe?).

This is all that I could come up this for this AU. There are probably a lot of way this could be made into a story and I will probably put a list at the end of this. I hope my AU rambling was entertaining and interesting. Also, if anyone wants to use this for a story or sees a story with a similar premise to this, please let me know. I would love to read it.

Now, unrelated to this story Idea, I wonder how it would effect the characters of cookie run kingdom when it is revealed that the witches they worship/feared are dead and the ones around now were not the ones that loved and cared for cookie kind. I don't think I have really seen anyone go into depth about the connection between witch's castle and kingdom. I mean how tragic would it be to learn that the good witches perished while trying to bring prosperity to the world because one of them tainted the spell they were casting. How shaken would they be to find out that those witches became cookies as well? Heck, how would the Beast Cookies feel knowing the fate of the witches that sealed them. I truly wonder the reactions from those not in the know to such news.

Story Direction list:

Angst/maybe Hurt/comfort- Shadow Milk uses Gingerbrave as a substitute for his Soul Jam and succeeds in his plan. In this, Shadow Milk uses the bond only to keep Gingerbrave helpless and obedient (as well as a comfort to himself when he needs it). Will the Ancients be able to defeat the beast cookies before its to late? Will Gingerbrave's friends be able to rescue him? (Can Gingerbrave somehow redeem the Beast Cookies?)

Horror/Platonic Yandere- This would start like the angst story but proceed into a psychological horror as Gingerbrave is pulled into a forced family with the Beast Cookies. There will be a mounting horror as he sees glimpses of what his 'family' is doing to other cookies all while they treat him like a beloved toddler and no matter how hard he tries to be angry and hate them, he can't. Gingerbrave is slowly but surly succumbing to the bonds of Witch baked cookies born of the same dough.

Action/mystery- Throughout the campaign to free the Vanilla Kingdom from Dark Enchantress Cookie's forces. Pure Vanilla Cookie notices a peculiar reaction from his Soul Jam when he is near Gingerbrave. He is not the only one...

Mystery/?- Strawberry Crepe Cookie just can't understand how that group of crumbs for brains beat her! She's poured over the data and looked at their compositions and still can't find out what. WENT. WRONG?!?! Especially with that candy cane welding idiot, Gingerbrave!

I made the Pink Cake from The Official Stardew Valley Cookbook!

This cake was an experience to make. I’m not a stranger to baking cakes and making frosting from scratch, but this recipe threw me several curves that I didn’t expect. It had three parts: the cake, the frosting, and the jam filling. I followed the recipe exactly (even going as far as finding farm fresh duck eggs!) and I wanted to share my thoughts on the finished product.

The cake itself is super spongey and has a nice crumb to it. I think this is likely due to the duck eggs, but also to the reaction of the acidic buttermilk with the basic baking soda. It was also a little on the dry side, but that was probably my fault as I left it in the oven for a bit because I was sort of terrified of the unpasteurized eggs and wanted to be sure it was cooked all the way through!

I have always wondered what this cake would taste like because the in-game recipe calls for melon. The jam filling between the layers is where the melon factors in: watermelon, to be precise. I think if I made the jam again I would cut back on the lemon zest because the lemon largely overpowered the watermelon and strawberry flavors.

The iconic frosting gets its pink color from ground up dehydrated strawberries. I thought that this would give it a nice strawberry flavor, but I could barely taste the strawberry when I sampled the frosting on its own. The frosting is very creamy and has a lovely texture, though! If I make this frosting again, which I definitely plan to for some of my other favorite cake recipes, I might add a couple drops of strawberry extract to enhance the flavor a bit.

All in all, the different components of this cake come together quite nicely. It was not overly sweet, much to my surprise, but it was very fruity. The jam in the middle ended up being my favorite part, even despite the overpowering lemon. I also wasn’t wishing for more strawberry flavor in the frosting once it was on the cake because there was so much else going on in terms of complex flavors.

This recipe was good overall, and I can honestly say that I’ve never tasted anything quite like it. That said, I don’t think I would go to the trouble of following the recipe exactly again unless my kids ask me to someday down the line. Which, at that point, I might as well shape the cake into a duck and decorate its head with popcorn because there were moments when this recipe almost broke me.

A couple of notes for anyone who might be thinking of making a Pink Cake of their own:

-2 duck eggs = 3 chicken eggs

-buttermilk: you can buy it at the store pre-made, or just add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar per 1 cup of milk and let it sit for at least 10 minutes

-make sure your butter and cream cheese are at room temperature, not melted! Just put them out on the counter a few hours before you start baking

Update:

Despite what I said earlier, I actually did make this recipe again. I had to use up my last couple of duck eggs somehow! I made a few tweaks, though, and I wanted to share them here!

Jam: I didn’t even add half of the listed amount of lemon zest this time. I recommend this 100%, as now I can actually taste the watermelon and strawberry instead of just the lemon!

Cake: I made cupcakes instead of a full sized cake this time!

This recipe made 24 standard sized cupcakes. I baked them for 21 minutes (starting at 18 and then adding a minute before checking with a toothpick each time).

A quick little fantasy about meeting an orc who is obviously a bottom. Not exactly a topping tale, but it's a start.

You walked in to grab a coffee at your local, the one that's most popular for the humans and humanoids and cryptids. Like usual you're preoccupied by your horny thoughts and you glance around the shop while waiting for your drink.

Just as you expected a gush of milk sprays into your cup filling it to the brim. The orc grunts as your fingers work his milk filled chest. All that pumping at the gym wasn't for nothin, he's very productive, you think approvingly.

He watches you bring a drop of the fragrant substance to your lips and suck it off your thumb.

You're more than a foot shorter than him and don't have nearly the same physique but he's absolutely panting at the domineering stance you're taking.

You sip from the cup, rolling the enhanced chai over your tongue before swallowing. You're still as cool as a glass dildo, watching your prey.

"You're a big guy. You're not gonna find a satisfying meal in this coffee shop. Why don't you come home with me and let me feed you. Let me guess, your favorite is buttermilk biscuits with mulberry preserves"

He leans back in his chair causing it to creak and hooks his hands behind his head showing off even more chest and thick round tum.

You take a second to admire him with obvious sexual interest, heightening the tension.

Patrons of the coffee shop filter in and out, background noise to your bold perusal.

"hmmm" you muse. "Actually I think you like tart cherry jam and whipped cream on your biscuits."

He grins. You motion towards the door with your head and turn to walk out, knowing he will follow you home, and counting on him to help you make the freshest whipped cream you're ever tasted.

First off I just want to say that I love your blog and how you get into psychology of Sephiroth and when I read HoS or fluffy Sephiroth AU it is like I am a fly on their wall and it is bloody awsome ! I would like to ask about the darlings milk supply for HoS and fluffy Sephy, we all know that C.C-. and R7 Sephy has a dependence on the darlings milk but when they feed, especially C.C, do they suck her dry or can she reel them in before that happens and do they demand milk everyday ? Because being a lactating mum is hard work especially with two grown male appetites to deal with. As for fluffy Sephy does he restrain himself ? Can I also ask how all of the Sephys that require the darlings milk like to have it, directly from the breast or will a bottle do ? Sorry if this is a long ask but your Sephology is so good 😁.

I would say near the beginning of HoS, she has an average amount of milk produced for an expectant mother, but a problem remains that C.C. would drain her of her milk. His milk obsession began when he wanted to relieve the pain from her swollen breasts during a cuddle session in the early days of HoS. He never intended to develop a craving for his mommy darling's breast milk, but the experience and exhilaration he felt from drinking it made it irresistible. Why did he like it so much? Her milk, due to the Jenova Cells in her breasts, has a distinct flavor and scent, along with additional nutrients that surpass those of typical human milk. It also gave credence to C.C's insistence to call her "Mother," given that Jenova Cells are known to scramble memories and emotions. Additionally, the darling's Jenova Cells possess a unique mutation that also amplifies her breast milk.

C.C's need for breast milk had become so intense that he would become agitated or even vicious if he didn't receive it in a timely manner. C.C. was not interested in any food other than breast milk, and it was a slow process to introduce him to other options.

Frustrated with C.C. constantly draining her milk, OG Sephy created "enhancements" that would result in a significant increase in her milk production. But now, the darling's milk oversupply has become a persistent problem even when she's not pregnant, causing discomfort and inconvenience. C.C. is essential to making sure she is relieved... 7R always had a tiny milk kink but did not actively start engaging in it until the Sephy hive mind was fairly developed. As Darling continued to observe the Sephiroths, she began to notice how they mirrored each other's actions and behavior, almost as if they were part of a single entity, more and more. She developed a theory about this, calling it the "Echo Theory".

The Echo Theory is a spin-off of the Reunion Theory, under different circumstances. This theory describes a scenario where the "Reunion" was delayed due to the Sephiroths' conflicting wills, each one struggling to become the dominant force of Jenova (and the Darling). With time, they become more tolerant of each other, the more they are around each other. As a result: Their traits begin to overlap. Their specific goals and desires overlap. Such as 7R actively engaging in his milk kink because of C.C. or C.C. desiring to breed the darling constantly like OG Sephy or AC Sephy becoming more patient and observant of his plans like Dissidia Sephy.

Short trends may occur when one Sephiroth has a strong influence over the others. If so, the echoes will intensify. The echoes intensity can also lead to the Sephiroths to act as one in a hivemind, which is what happened one time they came together to fuck the darling in the garden.

The theory has some holes, however: The darling cannot figure out what it takes for one Sephiroth to have a powerful influence over others temporarily. And she doesn't know what triggers the rare hivemind actions of the Sephiroths. And she cannot figure out if Jenova herself is favoring any of the Sephiroths.

The Echo Theory's middle stage is shrouded in mystery, but Darling believes it's the End Stage that poses the greatest threat - the emergence of a single, supreme Sephiroth. It's horrifying for her to think about, as she loves them all equally, in their ways. They may hate each other and fight a lot, but they had times of harmony... Only time will tell if her theory turns out to be wrong...

༻❁❁༺ C.C. and 7R Milk Feeding Habits

They can be both aggressive and gentle, depending on their mood. As the darling tapped into her maternal side, C.C. became less aggressive toward the darling over time. They originally drained her, but she reeled them in, more and more... The weekly consumption of milk is crucial for C.C, while 7R can manage without it for more extended periods.

C.C. also never drinks from the bottles. The milk directly from the darling's breasts is what he craves, seeking both the intimacy and flesh felt with his luscious lips. 7R would prefer it from her tits as well, but bottles will do.

༻❁❁༺ Fluffy Sephiroth's Milk Kink and His Domestic Darling.

It all started when reading his maternity books in his attempt to support the domestic darling better. He was ashamed of his kink at first and kept it hidden from her. She had to tease him about it, to get him to admit. I wrote a story about this in detail here.

With his darling's encouragement, he gradually became more comfortable drinking her milk and now has a strong preference for drinking from her breasts. Like her HoS counterpart, the Domestic Darling also has Jenova Cells in her breasts that deepen the connection between her and Sephiroth each time he drinks from her breasts.

Sephiroth occasionally has dark thoughts of pinning the darling down and draining her milk-filled tits. It's hard for him to hold back and he often excuses himself from the darling to keep the feral thoughts at bay. He always regrets these dark thoughts....

And due to his fear of going overboard and not wanting to deprive his unborn children of food, he doesn't suckle the darling's tits as much, as his darling has a moderate but limited milk supply.
