Random Teen Titans thoughts.
The Brave and the Bold #54 has a few great moments, but my favourites are:
-Batman says he guesses he can spare Robin for a little bit
-Aqualad gets a letter via eels bringing him a message in a bottle
-the villains name is Brom Stikk. His grandfather or whatever (Jacob Stikk) told the people of the town that they could have the land if they paid him and all of his descendants one passenger pigeon feather every year. They never explain why he asked for this
-Robin comments that passenger pigeons have been extinct since 1913. Robin just knows this very specific piece of information
-Aqualad and Kid Flash have an ongoing little rivalry, but Robin does not care about any comments made about him. They question his competency, and he says nothing. They tell him they were wrong in the end, and he says nothing. He is just vibing
-Robin, to reach the villain, drives a fire truck out of the station, extends the ladder, and precariously balances at the very top of it while fighting a man who made it rain fire. I’m on the fence as to whether or not the truck was still moving as he did this
-the villain floods the town, despite one of his opponents being AQUALAD. Aqualad manages to stop the town from flooding, but does so by getting a narwhal to bore a hole through the cement to reach the sewage system and by god I wish I was making this up
The Brave and the Bold #60:
-Prof. Holmes and his comedically oversized syringe
-the villain is called the Separated Man. He is a giant who can separate his body parts. Prof. Holmes made the serum and accidentally made it so that the serum turns you evil
-the comedically oversized ear that somehow manages to eavesdrop on them, I assume by hiding behind the rock that is smaller than it
-the Separated Man goes underwater, but Robin does not give the comedically large syringe of anti-serum to Aqualad, who could presumably swim down, inject the anti-serum, and swim back up. Robin does it himself. I don’t understand why
-the comic ends with the teens of the town (plus the Teen Titans and Prof. Holmes) riding back to town on surfboards. Prof. Holmes is riding on Aqualad’s shoulders, made all the funnier by the fact that Aqualad is so tiny. Wonder Girl rides back on Prof. Holmes’ son’s shoulders. Kid Flash, we can assume, is also riding someone’s shoulders, but whoever he’s on is out of frame
-Robin is riding on a T-posing young man’s shoulders. This fills me with questions. I have zero answers

Headcanon that early on in Dick's tenure as Robin, Batman gets seriously injured during patrol one night. Not enough that his life is in danger, but like, enough that he's unconscious and needs medical attention.
And after he gets him squared away, Jim Gordon sees a small, masked child covered in someone else's blood, and then his Dad (tm) instincts kick in, and he refuses to let Robin go to wherever he calls home alone. So he just... takes him back to his home.
And this can go two directions. Either
Barbara, not Batgirl yet, wakes up when her father comes home and sees a boy slightly younger than her, covered in blood, and befriends him, for sure freaking out her father but also making him incredibly worried about Robin and if he has any other friends or not.
or
Barbara, fully Batgirl, but not on patrol that night because she had a test that next day, wakes up when her father comes home, and comes face to face with her best friend in his masked alter ego, and they both have to pretend that they don't know each other for like two days, meanwhile Dick's sweating because like Holy shit, I've had sleepovers here before, whatever you do, don't act like Dick Grayson.
Either way it ends with Dick, mask still firmly in place but wearing Barbara's pajamas, and Babs fully passed out on the ground around a game of monopoly when Batman finally comes to collect his sidekick.
This experience would also make Jim Gordon even more terrified for Robin on a daily basis because before, he was sort of a shadowy, cryptic force that followed Batman around, but now Jim knows that he's just a little boy, smaller than his own daughter, that likes the same games and cartoons that Babs does, and I'm not sure he'd be able to handle that.

God, y'all like these <_< >_>
Dick: *Kicks the door open, looking panicked* Bruce: What did you do? Jason: NOBODY DIED! Bruce: WHAT KIND OF ANSWER IS THAT?!
Tim: Dear Diary, my teen angst bullshit has a body count.
Bruce: I hate to say ‘I told you so’— Jason: No, you don’t. You would marry 'I told you so’ and have a baby with it and buy adjoining burial plots.
Damian: I hate you with every inch of my body! Jason, looking down: That’s not a lot of inches.
Steph: My bad, It’s a knee jerk response. Dick, holding Tim's unconscious body: WHOSE KNEE JERK RESPONSE IS TO START THROWING BRICKS AT SOMEONE???
Robin!Tim: He called me the B-word. Jason: Motherfucker doesn’t start with ‘b’!
*after the Squad's plan goes horribly wrong* Bruce: Now it seems we're back at square one-- finding Jason. Tim: For the record, I already found him. Dick: And you let him get away before we could have a meaningful conversation! I'm telling you, just let me try- Tim: He stabbed me! Damian: I'm surprised he waited this long, Drake. We've all had the urge.
Pre-adoption Jason: I am very small and I have no money, so you can imagine the kind of stress that I'm under.
Roy: I'm so happy, I could kiss you! Jason: Um...Neat. *later* Jason, lying face down on his bed: I said "Neat," Dick. Who the fuck says neat these days? It's not neat to say neat but I said it anyways because I'm fucking stupid. Dick, upside down on the bed: Don't beat yourself up too much, Little Wing. Everyone gets nervous sometimes. Remember what I did when Wally confessed his love for me? Jason: ...Didn't you thank them? Dick: *swings up* I fucking thanked him.
Steph: Synonyms are weird because if you invite someone to your cottage in the forest, that just sounds nice and cozy. But if I invite you to my cabin in the woods you’re going to die. Tim: My favorite is explaining the difference between a butt dial and a booty call. Bruce: It’s called connotations. Jason: Try this one on for size, “Forgive me, Father, I have sinned” vs “Sorry, Daddy, I’ve been naughty." Dick: Great news! Language is now banned!
Dick: What does “baka” mean? Tim: Moron. Steph: Idiot. Duke: Stupid. Dick: The fuck did I do?!
Bruce: In the past year you have managed to piss off the LAPD, ATF, CIA, FBI- Jason: NBA. Bruce: …? Jason: Snuck into a Cliffords game.
Tim: Oh god, he texted you ‘hi.’’ punctuation only means one thing, Dick... He's mad at you. Dick: No, it's Jay. He's just being grammatically correct! *meanwhile* Jason: And then I used a period so they'd know that I'm mad at him. Roy: A period doesn't say 'I'm mad', it says 'you're dead to me'. Jason: I stand by my choice.

what is your favourite reverse robins dynamic?
Admittedly I'm very fond of the Dick and Jason dynamic that came about from my other reverse robin au posts, but somehow Damian and Tim edge it out (though I'm also extraordinarily fond of how I imagine dami/jay in this verse, too!) Maybe I'm a bit weak for it because this low-key could have been Dick and Jason's relationship if things were just slightly different... which just adds to my love of reverse robin au because the comparison is a bit tragic. ;U;
Damian + Tim
Where Damian recognizes that he's outgrowing his own mantle, so he seeks out his own replacement
That Damian's bleeding heart chooses Tim (intelligent, resourceful, tenacious, insufferable) is something Tim never lets Damian live down, later on in their friendship partnership
These two having been through it together. Damian being there every step of the way, too. From training Tim to take over the mantle, to his first patrols. Building up Tim's confidence and being all smug and proud when Tim comes into his own
There would be a lot of trust between them. Because Tim knows he can rely on Damian. Damian has proven this time and again by simply being there (with wicked, prideful smirks at Tim's competence, with patience and a firm hand at any setbacks; challenging him, having his back, and being bluntly honest in the face of any of Tim's insecurities that crop up). And Damian just - he chose Tim, of course that confidence goes both ways.
So yes, although Tim stops being so starry-eyed as he grows up, the respect for Damian will always be there. It's why Tim strives to become less a mentee, more a partner
Because he wants to be there for Damian, too.
That they become friends partners was only natural.
Make no mistake though, the majority of the time these two are just griping at each other, about each other
(Because as they grow up together it becomes fun for Damian to needle Tim. And of course Tim is influenced by this and taunts Damian right back. And it becomes their norm. It’s something Damian half heartedly complains about because Tim used to be ‘respectful’ what happened? And Tim scoffs because Damian happened, that’s what).
But yeah, Tim being the one to challenge Damian when it's needed. Or Tim squaring off with Bruce whenever Bruce and Damian have a rare spat
Extra Damian & Timmers + Supers
These two both have their own super besties and like hell they both haven't had those awkward encounters where they bump into one another at the Clark home in the mornings
Truth be told, ambiguous Dami/Jon and Tim/Kon because it can’t not be a thing where Damian and Tim are forever uncertain about what's going on and their respective besties claim it's platonic but the doubt is there forever hahaha
Damian and Tim needling each other about their respective supers.
Omg, random competitions on who comes running fastest when called ahhhahaha the super boys are so exasperated and in love
That aside, Damian and Tim challenging each other a lot and it's really motivating for them both. Meanwhile everyone else is concerned because they both seem kind of mean? It’s how they care though 💖
For some background on what's below this, Tim + Jason:
Because Tim never outgrows the Robin mantle, it's Damian who takes it away in true Bruce fashion
By bringing in street kid Jason and blindsiding Tim like none other
There's no ill intent behind it. It's entirely because Damian thinks so highly of Tim that he shoves him out of the proverbial nest
But Tim doesn't take it that way and it becomes their biggest fight
Because Tim accuses Damian of feeling Tim is lacking. Tim demands to know why he's being replaced. What the fuck he did wrong?
Nothing, is the answer to that. Because Tim took Robin and made them to be something even greater than what Damian left behind. The respect and care Tim put into Robin is something Damian doesn't take lightly; he's most grateful
What he's not about is Tim getting all combative and nasty though, especially when Damian is doing something for Tim
Just classic batboy miscommunications, y'know?
Anyway, because Tim lashes out, Damian ends up lashing out too. It eventually comes out that Damian doesn't want Tim getting 'complacent' in Damian's shadow and Tim shuts down on him so hard
Damian knows that Tim could be the best
Tim's insecurities run away with him and he feels entirely the opposite (like he misstepped somewhere, like Damian never saw him like an equal, that he's already replaced, etc etc)
Basically Tim leaves for the tower and leaves Damian to look after Jason, if that's what he wants so bad.
A falling out because Damian assumed and Tim is betrayed and it's sadness because even if Robin works with Batman, Tim has always been Damian's partner first and foremost.
Something something Tim turning on Jason and being the very definition of 'never meet your heroes'. Just Tim giving Jason the coldest stare, the most damning of once overs before clicking his tongue (a bad habit picked up from Damian)
Oh. Jason getting stuck with the knowledge that he's the bane of Robin's existence. And then Bruce's disappointment, too, because he seriously just comes in to work and his well-oiled machine has a cog in it that doesn't fit yet
So Jason is put in this position with a lot of pressure to be the best. So that Batman will approve of him, so that Robin will accept him, so that he doesn't disappoint Damian and make all the sacrifices he made for Jason worthless
And angst with the struggle in finding his place in a world that didn't need/want him beyond Damian's willful fancies
Damian & Tim + Jason
Damian being there when everything falls apart in Ethiopia
For whatever reason, Damian is there in Bruce's steed while Bruce is indisposed elsewhere
And Damian is caught in that same position: save the lives of countless innocent people or save the life of this boy who stole his heart
Though Bruce gives the order, Damian goes against it.
This being the first time Damian has ever done so, but he does it without regret because Jason is his
And because Damian chooses Jason, he's able to get to the warehouse in time to save him. Not from the beating, but at least from the worst of the explosion.
So torn between Jason having saved his birth mom or that not happening and Damian making the conscious decision to let her burn ooooooo >>
Anyway, Damian's actions have consequences. With Bruce. Who goes off on him so hard despite Damian bringing his son back to him. And he bears it with squared shoulders and raised chin, because he has no reason to be ashamed. Still, Bruce is his father so Damian shows him respect
Until Bruce goes off on Damian's loyalties. Bruce being so worked up and betrayed that he questions if Damian is still under the influence of the League, if he's theirs as opposed to his
Damian is no one's. Though, that might not be right. He's Robin's. Still, he bristles at the accusation. And it leads to the ugliest fight they've ever had, which leads to Damian leaving the family with the seething proclamation that he will return to the League
Something something, Tim going after Damian and trying to parse out how serious Damian is. He can't just leave, not with Jason still--
'Look after him for me.'
And Tim might hate him for this one. Because Jason is going to wake up and see how everything fell apart. He's going to see that Damian is gone and Jason will know it's his fault.
'That's unfair.'
'Do it for me anyway.'
And Tim does, even if he’s angry and abandoned and upset.

Hob used to be in the information business -- knowing things, trading useful bits to disreputable people, getting a slice of the take, but he got out of all that, for reasons, but he keeps a slight hand in.
When he hears (distressingly after the fact) that Morpheus Endless has been taken, Hob is more than worried. Morpheus, Dream, is one of the reasons Hob is out,,,,,,well the main reason is Robin.........but Dream gave Hob Robin (in all the ways that implies) and Hob promised on his soul to keep their family Robin safe.
Robin was not/is not a mistake, he is the second greatest miracle of Hob's life, with falling in and loving Dream being the 1st. But they were not good men in a terribly unsafe business when Dream got pregnant. A pregnancy that they went out of their way to hide and a birth handled by just the two of them (they were bad men, but they didn't want to have to kill a midwife,,thankfully nothing went wrong).
Dream had just two weeks with Hob and Robin, with his family before he had to go back to the Endless "organization" (there was no way that Time & Night would let one of their child free of the Family.). Dream promised he would keep himself safe, if Hob kept Robin safe. So Hob kissed his still healing love goodbye and held tight to their son.
Now Hob is hearing that the rival Burgess family is making their play for the city and Dream has been taken as leverage.
Well, that can't stand!
Maybe this is enough to get Dream out.
There are few people Hob trusts to look after Robin while he's gone, but he calls one of the few - they'll keep Robin safe and make sure if the worst happens and neither of Robin's fathers make it back Robin will be cared for.
That squared, Hob is off to get his man and make his family whole. 🗡🔪🔫
OOO yes!!! I'm so intrigued by hard-man, nasty criminal Hob switching from his former career to a devoted single daddy. He keeps an ear out for info on Morpheus, but he really is a proper suburban dad now - Honda civic and all.
But now he's got to save his baby mama. Robin is everything to Hob, but Dream is even more than that. If he's not safe, then Hob can't just keep on living his life. He's got to dig up all his old weapons and contacts, get in the Honda and drive without stopping until he reaches the place where Dream is rumoured to be held.
Dream is angry when Hob comes to get him. Angry that Hob reneged on their deal, angry that he left Robin. He's even angry that Hob killed Burgess, because it's only going to escalate the conflict between the families. Hob bluntly tells Dream that he doesn't give a fuck about any of that. He's getting Dream out. They'll go get Robin together and then leave. For good. Dream evidently isn't able to stay safe so their previous deal no longer applies.
Hob gets shot by Alex as they make their escape, and Dream is honestly a bit smug about it because he's the one driving Hob back into the city to pick up Robin. Hob isn't that badly hurt. And it serves him right for being a self sacrificing dumbass.
Robin hasn't seen Dream since he was 24 hours old but even so, he clings onto his "papa" tightly within minutes of meeting him. Meanwhile daddy Hob is having a private little cry as he gazes at his family. They still have a long way to go, but whatever. Dream is holding their son and looking at Hob with that fond, exasperated smile. He knows that everything is going to work out okay.

Revelations at a Slumber Party
Summary: Nancy goes over to Steve’s house and inadvertently joins them on their regularly scheduled slumber party, where Steve reveals his biggest secret to both Nancy and Robin. What, pray tell, is the secret? Read to find out.
Nancy sighed as she pulled up to Steve’s house. She tried not to think about her breakup with Jonathan. It was the easiest breakup in the world. Should it have been that easy, and should they have been that relieved? Shouldn't she feel something other than relief? Maybe she was overthinking it. Maybe she should be glad that it ended the way it did and that Jonathan had someone else. Nancy couldn't help but smile as she thought about the way Jonathan looked at Argyle. Even on their best days, Jonathan never looked at her like that.
Nancy got out of the car and stared at the sun sinking down behind Steve’s house for a moment. Maybe she should have given it another day, but then something else could have happened. . .Vecna could rise from the dead and come after them all. Why wait for something you really want when you could be dead and leaving everything left unsaid? Nancy walked towards the door, squaring her shoulders. When she got closer, she noticed that the door was open. Nancy reached into her purse and pulled out her pistol. She closed and locked the door behind her as quietly as she could. She didn't call out. That would be stupid. She scanned the living room. Empty. She went into the kitchen and then the downstairs bathrooms before moving upstairs. The first two rooms were empty, as well as the upstairs bathroom. That's when she heard it. Steve’s scream. She ran towards his room and burst in, holding out her gun. Steve screamed again and, for some reason, covered up his exposed chest. Meanwhile, Robin froze behind him. She was kneeling behind him on the bed, hands on his back, and she was wearing only her pants and bra.
"We have to stop meeting like this, Nancy," Steve said dryly. "And with the same gun?"
"Yeah, if you keep pointing that gun at him like that, he's going to develop a kink," Robin said.
"Robin!" Steve exclaimed, dropping his hands.
"I thought you were platonic with a capital P," Nancy said as she put her gun back in her purse.
"What? Oh, yeah, I see how this might look strange to you," Robin said. "I was rubbing ointment on his road rashes as well as his bat bites, and I didn't want to get any on my shirt."
"So, you're really just friends?" Nancy asked.
"My boobs are platonic to him as his dick is platonic to me. As are our souls," Robin said and then frowned. "Are our. . .why do those asshole words have to sound so similar? Anyway. . .also, I'm a huge lesbian."
"Oh, thank God!" Nancy exclaimed and then blushed. "I mean, thank you for telling me."
"Isn't it cute how jealous of me she was?" Robin asked, smirking.
"Totally," Steve said as he smirked as well.
"Shut up," Nancy said with a smile. "Don't you know not to tease a woman who has a gun?"
"I clearly don't," Steve grinned.
Robin moved off the bed and went to wash her hands. Steve reached for his shirt and struggled to put it on. Nancy smiled and helped him put it on. Robin came back wearing pajamas and pushed Steve gently back against the pillows before climbing into bed next to him.
"We're having a slumber party. You missed the junk food part of the evening. Now, we're going to curl up in bed and talk about girls," Robin said.
"You two talk about everything, huh?" Nancy asked.
"Well, join us and find out. Although, you have to promise not to get handsy with Steve," Robin said.
"Robin!" Steve exclaimed.
"Can't make any promises that I can't keep," Nancy smiled.
"What about - ?" Steve asked hopefully.
"Oh, I broke up with him. Well, it was mutual, actually," Nancy said and sat down next to him. "He has his eye on someone else, and I have my eye on someone else."
"Is the someone Jonathan has his eye on who I think it is?" Robin asked.
"What do you know?" Nancy asked.
"What do you know?" Robin repeated.
"I asked first," Nancy said.
"And I asked second," Robin said.
"How do you know?" She asked.
"It was about as obvious as Steve is when he looks at you," she replied, and Nancy laughed.
"Hmm, he was very obvious," she said and looked down at him.
Nancy was leaning against the headboard while Steve was slumped against the pillows, so he was looking up at her. She cupped his cheek and leaned down to place a kiss on his lips. She pulled back and he smiled sweetly at her.
"Hi," Steve said breathlessly.
"Hi," Nancy said. "Is my favorite shirt still in the drawer?"
"Yeah," Steve said.
Nancy shuffled over to the dresser and grabbed the blue t-shirt before heading to the bathroom.
"Oh, Steve, you're done for. She's finished you. There's no going back," Robin said.
"Fuck off, Robin," Steve said.
Nancy laughed as she came out of the bathroom. She crawled in next to Steve and let him lean his head on her stomach.
"So, how do you guys start this off?" Nancy asked as she ran her hand through his hair.
"Well, I usually start off with talking about Vickie for an hour," Robin said. "And then we talk about Steve’s lack of a sex life."
"Yours is more lacking than I am. At least I'm not a virgin," Steve replied.
"And then I ask him once again how he lost it," Robin said.
"Yeah, he never told me about that either," Nancy said.
"Come on, fess up, Steve, who was the girl?" Robin asked.
Steve stared at Robin before sighing heavily as he played with the blankets.
"I mean, I guess I should be honest here," Steve said. "I'm not going to tell you who it is. I can tell you that it wasn't a girl."
"Are you telling us you slept with a boy?" Robin asked and paused. "Oh my God, you slept with a boy."
"Sorry, I never told you," Steve said, looking sheepish.
"I mean, you don't have to apologize for that. You needed to be ready to tell us, and I get why you wouldn't be. Can I ask why you didn't? Is that why? You weren't ready?" Robin asked.
Nancy continued to stroke his hair as they waited for an answer. She already guessed who it was that he had slept with. It suddenly made sense why Tommy had seemed to hate her now that she thought about it. He had been jealous.
"I never thought - I didn't think - not until, you know - ," Steve said nervously.
"It's okay, you don't have to say, babe," Robin said.
Nancy couldn't stop the question that spilled out of her mouth once she connected the dots.
"Was I the first woman you've ever been with?" Nancy blurted out.
Robin couldn't stop the gasp that slipped out as she gaped at Steve.
"Yeah," Steve said.
"What about all those women you said you had been with?" Nancy asked.
"Rumors that Tommy spread so no would think I was gay," Steve said. "They weren't even real women. Just made up names."
"So, you like women now?" Nancy asked.
"And men, still. When I realized that I also like women T - someone told me that it wasn't a thing and I was just confusing myself," Steve said. "I thought there was something wrong with me for the longest time."
"Oh, Steve," Robin and Nancy said.
Robin sobbed and wrapped her arms around Steve’s neck.
"There's absolutely nothing wrong with you," Robin said. "I love you so much."
"I love you, too," Steve sniffled.
Oh my God, Nancy thought, the first time they had sex. . .it made sense why Steve had been so excited, so eager but he had also been willing to wait. He realized he was attracted to women, and she had called him bullshit. She had told him that it was their fault that Barb had died. It didn't matter that she had been drunk. She had still hurt Steve. They had both been hurt, and instead of it bringing them closer, their trauma had pulled them apart. While Barb had been her best friend, she knew that Steve felt his own guilt over her. Why else would he keep going with her to Barb's parents for dinner? It had been so hard for both of them, and Steve just let her go because he knew that's what she needed. . .because he loved her. An overwhelming amount of love for Steve clenched her heart, and she just wanted to hold him forever. She wasn't going to let him walk away from her this time.
"I love you, Steve," Nancy whispered as she sank down and laid her head over his heart.
"I love you, too," Steve whispered and kissed the top of her head.
"You want to talk about it some more, buddy?" Robin asked.
"I just want to enjoy this moment," Steve replied. "But Nancy probably doesn't know a thing about Vickie."
"Oh, that's right," Robin said with a gasp and started telling her everything.
Nancy could feel his eyes watching them as they talked over his chest. She could feel the love and affection for both of them radiating from his eyes. It was different kinds of love, though. One side platonic, the other side romantic, and both of them equally important to him. She hoped he felt so loved right now. He deserved it. She wanted to get to know Robin more as well because judging by the way they acted with each other, Robin was going to be an integral part of his life forever. Nancy wanted a part of what they had, even if it was just a sliver. Nancy blinked at Robin.
"Vickie Fisher?" Nancy asked her.
"Yeah, do you know her?" Robin asked.
"Sort of. We met when I did an article on band," Nancy said.
"When was this?" Robin asked.
"It was a few weeks back. You were sick. Vickie had been the one to tell me," Nancy said. "I really didn't think anything of it when I overheard her talking about how she wished her boyfriend was more like this guy she knew. Tall, pretty blue eyes, a thing for taking in lost boys like Peter Pan, and his name was Rob. He also liked to wear ties."
"Oh, great," Robin said bitterly.
"Oh, come on, Robin!" Steve laughed. "Can't you tell who she was talking about?"
"A really nice guy, it sounds like," Robin said.
"She also mentioned something about him getting caught up in the Starcourt fire, and she went on about how brave he must have been," Nancy said, her eyes twinkling with mirth.
"I can't compete!" Robin groaned as she flopped on her back.
"Robin, you were in Starcourt," Steve frowned.
"Yes, I know," she sighed.
"Robin, what do I call you sometimes?" Steve asked.
"Robbie," she replied.
"And?"
"Rob," she said and rolled her eyes. "It's also short for Robert."
"Or. . . ?" Steve asked.
"Roberta!" Robin exclaimed and sat up with a gasp. "Maybe she is into girls, but not me!"
Steve sighed and threw his arms up in the air.
"I can't believe you call me the dingus," he said and Nancy giggled.
"I just don't want to get my hopes up," Robin pouted as she laid back down again.
"Well, you know, we all almost died recently," Nancy pointed.
"We were there," Robin and Steve said.
"Imagine if you had died, and you never told her how you felt. If you can risk your life saving Eddie, someone you barely know, then I think you can risk believing in the possibility of Vickie liking you. I also think you can risk asking her out. Life is short, and you could get hit by a car tomorrow," Nancy said.
"Or in Robin's case, slip on a banana peel. It's moments like that that make me wonder if my platonic soulmate really is a cartoon character," Steve said.
"It was one time!" She exclaimed, and Nancy laughed. "Alright, alright. Nancy might be right."
"No, no, Nancy is right, and don't you forget it," Steve said.
They fell silent for a moment until Robin sighed and started humming: "I got you, babe." Soon, she started singing, and then Steve joined in before Nancy knew it she was singing along as well. They sang a couple of renditions. The last one was just Steve and Robin singing it in terrible British accents that caused all three of them to dissolve into giggles. They talked well into the night, and the first one to fall asleep had been Robin. She, course, snored loudly, facing away from them. Steve sat up, leaning against the headboard to glare down at Robin.
"Oh my God, she's like a fog horn," Nancy giggled.
"She's also a heavy sleeper. You can't wake her up for anything," Steve said.
"Are we going to get any sleep tonight?" She asked.
"Yeah, no, I don't think so," Steve replied.
Nancy smiled and threw a leg over him as she settled herself carefully into his lap.
"Is this okay?" Nancy asked. "I just wanted to look at you."
"Yeah, this is okay," he said softly.
Nancy smiled and ran her hands over his face. She smiled as he closed his eyes and leaned into her touch. She cupped his face, and he opened his eyes. God, she loved his hazel eyes. They were a perfect mixture of brown and dark green, like leaves turning into autumn. Steve’s eyes always reminded her of what she loved about the woods when it was on the cusp of turning into fall, turning from green to warm golden brown. It was worth more than all of the money in the world. She could sit here now and fully appreciate them, appreciate him. He always told her that hers reminded him of the ocean. . .The forest and the ocean, two different spaces, both of them vast, but so intertwined. Too much water and the forest drowns but just enough, and it can make the forest beautifully vibrant. Like most things, the forest and the ocean needed balance. Nancy hoped to find the perfect balance with Steve.
"Do you think she'd notice if we started having sex against her back?" Nancy asked.
"Nancy Wheeler!" Steve exclaimed with a gasp as he laughed.
"Do it, and die," Robin said.
"Oh, yeah, every so often, she wakes up," Steve said.
"The rule is that if I don't have someone who I can have sex with in bed, then no one in this bed can have sex," Robin said and then fell back asleep.
"Did you know that was a rule?" Nancy giggled.
"I did not," Steve said as he rubbed her back.
Nancy stared at him quietly again and sighed in contentment.
"I missed you," she whispered.
"I missed you too," Steve whispered back.
Before she knew it, her bottom lip was trembling, and the tears were coming out.
"I really missed you," she sobbed.
"Hey, what's this about, huh? I'm right here," Steve said.
"You almost weren't," Nancy said, touching the scar around his neck. "It's so stupid how sometimes people don't realize how much someone means to them until they're almost gone. You could have died, and I should have realized before then. Steve, I love you. I love you now, just as I loved you then. . .I just didn't know how to say it. It got stuck in my throat, and I wanted to say then when you asked."
"I know how difficult it is to talk about something. There were so many times that I wanted to tell you about myself, and it really did get caught in my throat. I was afraid you wouldn't love me anymore like the way my parents did, when they stopped spending time at home with me. I shouldn't have pushed you to tell me in that alleway. I was upset, and I didn't want you to tell me that you didn't love me when you came back with Jonathan, so I backed away. I also knew we both needed time away from each other because of the shitty situation we were put in by that fucking doctor who decided to play god. Barb would be alive if it weren't for him and it took me a long time to realize that it was Brenner's fault, not ours. I would kill him a thousand times over if I could. I don't blame you for any of it, so you have nothing to apologize for," Steve said softly. "I'm glad we got the time away we needed. We were dealing with something that not even adults could handle. You're here now, and that's what matters."
"I do need to tell you that you were never a shitty boyfriend. You were the best boyfriend ever, and I really wish we could have figured out how to work through our emotions together," Nancy cried. "You're a good man, Steve Harrington. I should have told you that more."
Steve smiled softly, his own tears spilling over.
"And you're amazing, Nancy Wheeler," Steve said. "We're here now and we can figure it out together."
"I love you," Nancy whispered.
"I love you too," Steve whispered.
Nancy crashed her lips to his, kissing him harshly and enjoying the way his lips fit against hers. God, she missed kissing him. She missed everything about him, but it all felt new and familiar at the same time. Maybe it was because they were both almost in the same place emotionally now. Nancy broke the kiss and slid off of him before she gave him a problem. She laid down next to him, turning on her side. He carefully did the same, leaving his hand up. She smiled and slid her palm into his.
"Next time you throw a sleepover, only invite me," Nancy said as she wrapped her arms around him and snuggled into him, moving her hand as she did so.
"Deal," Steve said and kissed her forehead.
"Is it so you can plan my surprise birthday party?" Robin asked sleepily.
"Yeah, Robin, that's it," Nancy said in amusement.
"Fucking knew it," she said and paused. "Happy for you, my pretty little dinguses."
She turned over, throwing her arms and legs over both of them. Nancy knew they still needed to talk more, but for now, she could sleep in the safety of their arms, hoping that Steve knew how much he was loved.

Chapter 26: That Looks Gator-Ish! Luffy, Run to the Royal Tomb!
(episode 123)
As Luffy continued to struggle against Crocodile, Robin and Cobra arrived at the Mortuary Temple, west of the palace. They stopped at the ascending, stone staircase. "So this is the Royal Tomb," She remarked, "Where the bodies of generations of kings sleep." She turned to Cobra. "Where's the Poneglyph?" Without a word, he approached a statue featuring a cat-fish hybrid, and pushed it aside to face the path; a rectangular section of the ground rose up, revealing a staircase going under the ground. "Hidden stairs!" They headed down, with her walking ahead of him.
"The Poneglyph is deep underground. Normally, people aren't even aware of Poneglyphs' existence."
"What's happening behind the scenes is deep," Robin cut him off, "Even if countries belong to the World Government, it doesn't mean their kings know everything. You aren't to be blamed; since you probably didn't know there was someone in this world who can decipher them."
"You can read Poneglyphs?" Cobra asked with surprise.
"Yes. That's why Crocodile and I teamed up. Because of that, he can't kill me." She suddenly stopped walking. "It's likely that the Poneglyph in this country tells where Pluton is." She turned to Cobra with a piercing stare. "Isn't that right?"
"Alabasta's royal family has been obligated for generations to protect it. That's all it is to us."
"Protect?! Don't make me laugh!" After he tensed up, they continued their trek. "What an impressive-looking place," She remarked after they reached the tomb.
"It's behind the doors in the back."
Now eager, she opened the large doors, and walked deeper inside, while Cobra stayed back. "Indeed..."
-
Meanwhile, Usopp and Zoro were still searching for the cannoneer. Or at least, Zoro was; Usopp seemed to be taking a different approach. He seemed to be imitating Crocodile, down to his laugh, and a gold piece on his right hand. "You small fry!" He mocked.
Zoro swung a hard punch to his head. "What the heck are you doing?!"
"What am I doing?!" Usopp glared. "I'm trying to put myself in Crocodile's shoes! Like if I were him, where would I shoot a cannon from?"
"Forget it! Just look for the cannoneer! We've got less than five minutes!"
'Five more minutes!' Chopper ran through the streets in Walk Point with Nami. 'A million lives will be blown up in five minutes! We gotta hurry; we gotta hurry up, and find the cannoneer!'
"Chopper!" She turned to him. "Can't you find the guy using your nose?"
"I can't. The smell of gunpowder is all over the town!"
"Then... listen; find the smell of "a cannoneer who may be aiming at the center of the Square"."
"What kind of smell is that?"
"How should I know?! Try your best!"
"What?!"
Elsewhere, Sanji was dashing like mad, carrying a slower Venus on his back. 'A cannonball that can blow up a 5k diameter,' He thought, before screeching to a sudden stop. "Wait; then it must be big."
"What're we stopping for?!" Venus exclaimed, but he was too deep in his analysis.
"If it is to be shot from a cannon, it won't travel very far. Then it should be closer to the Square after all?!" He went to run back the way they came, but stopped himself. "Ahh! We don't time to go around!" He fussed, and to Venus' surprise, he kicked a hole into a building close by. "We'll take a shortcut!"
"Good thinking!" Venus beamed, keeping her grip firm.
"How is it from the sky, Pell?!" Vivi called out.
"I searched every corner of the rooftops of the buildings near the Square, but I saw no preparation for a cannon anywhere."
"Then... it might be from somewhere inside a building."
"I'll search all of them!"
"Okay!"
-
In the Royal Tomb, as four minutes until the cannonball would be shot in the Square, Cobra watched from sitting by the doors, as Robin looked over the stone Poneglyph before her silently. "Did it tell you what you wanted to know?" He didn't receive an answer, as she still read it over.
"Aren't there any others?! Is this all this country is hiding?"
"You're not satisfied? I kept my promise."
"Yes..."
Just then, someone else entered: Crocodile! "Just as you'd expect from a national secret; no matter how desperately you search, it can't be found unless you know where it is. So this is the Poneglyph, huh, Nico Robin?"
"That didn't take long," She remarked.
"It's strange, or how should I put it... we you able to decipher it?"
"Yes."
"Good. Now read the so-called Poneglyph."
She turned back to the stone block, and read aloud. "Kahira conquered Alabasta... in Sky Ephemeris Year 239. In 260, Taymer ruled the Bitain Dynasty. In 306, the Taff Cathedral was completed in Erumalu. In 325, the hero Mamdin of Oltia-"
The impatient Crocodile stopped her reading. "Hey, hey, wait, wait! Is that what we wanna know?! Who cares about the history of this country? Just tell me the location of the world's most disastrous "military power" that is sleeping in this country! Where is the Pluton?!"
After a moment of silence, Robin turned back to him. "It's not written here."
"What?!"
"History is the only thing written here."
"Is that true?!"
"Pluton; I didn't see that word mentioned even once."
More silence followed, as Crocodile took her words in. "Well, I see; that's unfortunate. You've been an excellent partner to me, but..." His gaze on her darkened. "I think I'll kill you here."
"Wha-?!" She stepped back in shock.
"The agreement we made four years ago has been achieved here. This is what you said then; if I take you to where the Poneglyph is, you'd turn over the information on the weapon to me. Your work in Baroque Works these past four years was excellent, both in terms of brainpower, and command ability. That's enough for me; to say that you were a useful woman. But... you broke your word at the end!" He thrusted his hook at her, and her white cowgirl hat flew off. "The Poneglyph in this country doesn't even show a clue on the Pluton. Or is it that you weren't planning to tell me from the start, even if you found out?" She was scared, but kept her composure; he had her there. "However, I don't feel any anger against you. You know why, Nico Robin?"
She smirked at him. "How silly; we were a team for four years. I knew you'd pull something like this."
She pulled a vial out of her coat, and threw it in his direction. A hand grew out of his back, and caught it by his head. "Water?!"
"If you get wet, a knife can stick in you, right?!" Wielding a knife, she ran straight for him, but he disappeared in a cloud of sand before he could get doused in water. "He dodged it! Where'd he-?"
He appeared behind her: and stabbed his hook in her upper back, through her chest! "I'll forgive you for everything... Nico Robin." He thrusted it out, and let her fall limp to the floor. "Because I've never trusted anyone from the beginning." He looked down at the unconscious woman. "I now know from Cobra's reaction that Pluton really exists. I don't have to depend on the Poneglyph; I'll find it on my own. Once this country becomes mine, it's just a matter of time." He stopped when the tomb began rumbling like there was an earthquake. "Hm?! What's going on?! It's still too early for the attack on the Square!" He turned to the silent Cobra. "it must be you. What'd you do?!"
"Well, nothing major. This underground sacred temple is built so that pulling just one small column out cause the entire balance to be disrupted, and destroy the temple. You two will die in here with me; as the 12th king of the Nefertari Family, I can't give this sand kingdom to someone like you."
-
Outside, Vivi was still running, when her sandals gave out, and she fell to the ground. She held back her tears, as she held her bleeding knee. Where is it? Three minutes left... A cannon big enough to blow up a 5k diameter; there can't be many places where such a thing would fit. Why can't we find it when we search this much? An open space where a cannon would fit.
Behind her, Usopp leaped away when a bullet was astray from the armies' ongoing battle. "A stray bullet!"
Vivi suddenly perked up. "An open space... that's right." She recalled finding Koza's hiding place in their childhood. "That place can..."
"That's dangerous, you bastard!" Usopp reprimanded. "Smoke Star!"
"It doesn't attract people's attention, and it's a big space."
"Idiot! Ahh!" Usopp ran away from the fight, chased by a royal soldier. "I'm not from the Rebel Army! Usopp Hammer! Usopp's Rubberband of Doom! Did that teach you, you bastard! Geez; who do they think I am?" He confronted the armies again. "Don't be surprised when I tell you this. No, be surprised! I am that famous Captain U-" He was cut off by Vivi grabbing his nose to avert his attention. "What? O-oh, it's you, Vivi. Did you find the cannoneer?!"
"I figured it out! It's gotta be there!"
"What?! Really?! Okay, then! I'll signal them!" He dug his slingshot back out, and aimed it to the sky. "In any case, I'll call everyone! You're sure about it, right?"
"Yes!" She nodded with determination.
"Special Attack: Red Serpent Star!" He sent a red smoke trail above all the buildings.
"Ahh?!" Chopper spotted it while in Heavy Point, stopping Nami from running.
"Oh?!" Sanji saw it from where he stood, alongside Venus and Pell.
"Usopp's signal!" She beamed.
Zoro, amazingly, wound up in a jungle completely separate from the city, and missed the signal. Luffy, who was sleeping off his injuries outside the tomb, missed it as well. He did wake up, however, and sat himself up. "Boy, I slept well. Huh-? Oh, that's right; my body suddenly became incapable of moving, so I decided to risk it, and take a nap since it couldn't be helped. And now I feel fine, so... oh yeah!" He punched his palm after remembering his mission, and shot to his feet. "Gator! I'll beat him up!" He ran like mad, before screeching to a stop, and noticing the strange staircase. "That hole..." He panted, "It looks gator-ish."
-
"Whoa, you're a model king," Crocodile commended Cobra through the quaking, "Are you trying to be buried alive, taking me with you, for the country?! But you can't kill me."
"Hm?"
"I can change all the bedrocks into sand, and escape from here," He laughed mockingly, "You'll die in vain, Cobra." He turned to the ceiling. "It's now less than three minutes; with the collapse of this sacred temple, and the big explosion of the Square, everyone in my way will be blown up in an instant!" He turned back to Cobra. "In that moment, this land will become my country." The trembling seemed to increase, as his evil laughter rang throughout the temple.
Through it all, Luffy was sprinting down the staircases, furious. 'Crocodile!! Where are you?!'

That Awkward Age
Summary: You like Robin but have a hard time expressing your feelings to her. Robin thinks you’re her type to a T.
Written for: @the-slumberparty
Words: 1408
Square Filled: N3- Writer’s Choice
Pairing: Robin Buckley x Female Reader, Reader x Eddie Munson (Platonic), Robin x Steve Harrington (Platonic)
Warnings: Second hand embarrassment and sheer awkward moments
A/N: Set in an AU where everybody lives. This is my first time writing for Stranger Things.
You weren’t exactly sure when your crush on Robin first started but you think it was about the time she started working in Scoops Ahoy. She looked so good in that uniform and when you ordered ice cream she would add in little extra things just for you. Robin was so kind to you and you weren’t sure if you were imagining it but perhaps she was even a little flirty. The only person who knew about your crush was your best friend Eddie Munson. Eddie was very supportive of you and encouraged you to go after Robin whenever you brought it up. You were scared if you did ask her out and she rejected you it would make you a complete and total social outcast but Eddie mostly told you to suck it up and just go for it. Maybe he had a point. Maybe it was finally time to put all your fears aside and just dive in head first.
One warm Saturday afternoon, you were enjoying your lunch when you saw Robin hanging out with Steve. Deciding to take Eddie’s advice, you formulated a plan to try and get Robin alone so you could ask her out. Unfortunately, your plans didn’t turn out nearly as smoothly as you might hope they would. As you called out her name and ran towards her, your foot found a stone, tripped you up and sent you tumbling straight into her, knocking you both down in the process. It only got worse from there. As you tried to get up, you failed to notice your hand was on her breast. You quickly withdrew it and stared at her with doe-eyed fear.
“So-ft…” you croaked out, trying to apologise for knocking her over but the thought in your head took over.
Now completely and utterly humiliated, you fled the scene with the agility of a startled cat before the red-hot flames of embarrassment could consume you. You didn’t see it but as Steve helped Robin to her feet, she watched your retreating form with an amused and dreamy smile.
Later that night, you and Eddie were painting each other’s nails as you recounted the tragic story of your epic fail to him.
“So, how did things go with Robin?” Eddie pried as you applied a layer of black polish to his nail.
“Could not have gone worse. You and your stupid advice,” you grumbled.
“I’m sure it wasn’t that bad…”
“It was the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life. So, help me, if a portal to the Upside Down opened up right next to us I would have gladly jumped right in…”
“Y/N, just tell me,” Eddie prompted.
You sighed and braced yourself.
“I saw her earlier today and I called out to her. Then I tripped and knocked us both over and as I was getting up, I put my hand on her boob…”
“On purpose?”
“No! Believe it or not, I’m not in the habit of feeling someone up without their consent…” you huffed.
“So, what happened?”
“I was trying to get up and when I noticed where my hand was I said… soft…”
“You, what?”
“I… I said soft. I was trying to say I was sorry but I also was thinking soft and the wrong thing came out!”
To your utter dismay, Eddie began cackling.
“It’s not funny, you jerk!” you shouted, hitting him with a pillow.
“Watch the nails!” he half-heartedly scolded while still laughing.
By now you truly wanted to just vanish off the face of the Earth.
“Look, Y/N,” Eddie began as his laughs died down. “If Robin is half the girl Steve says she is, she probably thought you were charming…”
That’s when a horrifying thought occurred to you.
“Steve… he saw the whole thing! What if he heard me?!”
Eddie did his best to try and console you while you continued to freak out.
Meanwhile, Robin was in a dilemma of her own. Steve was organising the returned videos while Robin paced the floor. She hadn’t been able to stop thinking about that moment.
“What should I do, Steve? She’s so cute and I really want to ask her out,” Robin lamented.
“So, ask her out,” Steve shrugged, placing a video case back into its proper section.
“But what if she’s not into girls? I’d become a social pariah in a heartbeat…”
“I still say go for it. Y/N is clearly into you,” Steve advised.
“What?! N-no she’s not…”
“Yeah, she is. Look, I have some experience in this field and believe me, I know when chicks are digging,” Steve began, ignoring the look of scepticism on Robin’s face.
“First, she gets all flustered around you. Y/N gets all tongue tied around you,” Steve began.
“I’m sure she’s just shy,” Robin tried to reason.
“Right… just shy… only around you and nobody else…”
Robin thought back on all the times she saw you and how you would start looking away, tripping over your words and fiddling with your clothes in comparison, you didn’t do all those things when you were talking to another person.
“Two, she’ll make up any excuse to come to see you. Remember how often she used to come into Scoops Ahoy?” Steve continued, counting the dot points off on his fingers.
“Maybe she just likes ice cream…”
“Nobody likes ice cream that much,” Steve countered. “Three, she’ll do little things to know she’s thinking of you. Like last week during our shift when she brought in those cookies for you.”
“She was just being nice to a friend…”
“Nice to a friend would be if she shared them with both of us. Instead, she insisted they were for you and only you… Oh! And they were heart shaped…”
Steve’s words were beginning to break through to Robin.
“And I think we can both agree that the little incident you shared this afternoon, her hand stayed a little longer than it to…”
“Steve!”
Robin’s face turned bright red. She was so mad at him right now… but… he was also making sense. Could Steve really be correct in assuming you were into her? She would have to ask the next time she saw you.
You had successfully avoided Robin all weekend and most of school during Monday. It wasn’t until you were hiding in the library during lunch that she managed to corner you. When she called your name, you nearly jumped out of your skin.
“There you are. I’ve been looking for you,” she smiled.
“H-hi, Robin. Listen, I’m really sorry about the other day about knocking you over and then I did that and said what I said. I didn’t mean to say soft; I really was trying to say sorry, but it was really soft, not that I think about- oh, God, stop talking!” you rambled.
Robin giggled softly making heat rise to your face.
“I’ll just be going now,” you muttered, turning away.
Before you moved away, Robin grabbed your face and kissed you. She pulled away after a moment and the pair of you couldn’t stop grinning.
“You kissed me,” you stated.
“Yeah… I… I’ve liked you for a long time now, Y/N, and I didn’t know if you liked me and I was really scared if I asked you out and you didn’t like girls I would be ostracised,” she babbled.
“I felt the same way,” you confessed.
“So… what now?” she asked.
“How about dinner Friday? We can make it an official date,” you suggested.
“Sounds perfect… See you after school?”
“See you then,” you confirmed.
Robin gave you a quick peck on the lips and headed off. As you walked out of the library, you couldn’t stop grinning. You knew that when you told Eddie about it later, he’d tease you a little but he’d be thrilled for you. Who knew making a fool of yourself in front of your crush would turn out so well?

My favourite part of Dick Grayson as a character is that he is never afraid of Bruce.
Like, Jason has his fear of disappointing him, Tim is a bit intimidated and has his hero worship, Damian fears that Bruce’ll kick him out the way he thinks Talia did, but Dick?
Dick is so unconcerned about Bruce at every possible moment. Even the earliest comics had Dick calling Bruce lame to his face. Dick works with Bruce and his partner for years and they understand each other on a deep level and Dick multiple times calls Bruce a fucking square.
Dick does not tell Bruce anything. He does not write home. If Bruce wasn’t in the room with him when Dick got called to go somewhere, I’m pretty sure Dick would not have informed Bruce that he was even leaving, let alone where he was going. The Teen Titans joined the Peace Corps, they were in Washington for at least a few days being trained, and Bruce finds out that Robin joined the Peace Corps from a newspaper. Dick does not tell him anything.
Dick and Bruce have such a fascinating relationship to me because Dick really doesn’t treat Bruce as his dad so much as he treats him like a particularly obnoxious older brother. Bruce treats Dick like his little baby bird who he cares about and doesn’t want to get hurt, but Dick is over there like “ugh, Bruce is so overdramatic” while he nearly drowns for the fifth time.
In early Teen Titans, there’s no question that Robin is physically the weakest member. Aqualad and Wonder Girl both have super strength, Kid Flash’s speed means that he doesn’t need super strength, but Robin is by far the easiest to capture. He gets caught very consistently through the early issues, albeit people can only catch him if they take him off guard, but it’s a lot easier to catch him off guard in early comics. Robin is the brains of the group, the others look to him for direction and depend on him to make plans that will work and panic when Robin gets nabbed because what will they do without Robin??
Robin gets captured a lot in early Batman comics too. Robin is the ultimate damsel, but he’s never really in very much distress? Like, Bruce and the Teen Titans are distressed, but Robin just looks maybe a bit surprised and bored. Robin never seems to take his own mortality into account when he does things, meanwhile literally everyone else does.
Dick only ever really gets annoyed with Bruce. He bever gets mad at his teammates, even when they question his ability. For the most part, Dick doesn’t even respond when they underestimate him to his face. I have no idea what’s going on in Dick’s head, but he isn’t a part of Aqualad and Kid Flash finding each other and him annoying in their first team ups and he never gets upset when they don’t believe in him.
Then, on the other hand, Bruce calls the music Dick is listening to noise, and Dick immediately is annoyed. Dick and Bruce having a turbulent relationship is more apparent later on in the comics, but Bruce is truly the only one in all the galaxies who gets under Dick’s skin as much as he does.
And it’s funny because fandom likes to paint Dick as bitter that Bruce didn’t adopt him, while I think Dick would have blown his top if Bruce even tried to adopt him. Dick had parents, he never views Bruce as a parental figure. Don’t get me wrong, Dick loves Bruce. Bruce does so much for Dick and Bruce is protective of him and Bruce is open about his affection, but Dick just doesn’t view him as his father.
I really think Dick views Bruce as more like a guard dog than a father. He talks so casually to Bruce, but he’s more formal to other adults. He complains about Bruce not trusting him, but doesn’t care when his teammates don’t trust him either. He views the rich billionaire vigilante who can take down a god in a fight as fucking lame.
Their relationship is amazing. They get along great. They’re a perfect duo, they work in tandem, they’re absolutely unstoppable together. If Bruce talks too much Dick will roll his eyes. They trust each other with their life. Dick is never telling Bruce anything. Bruce says “I guess I can spare Robin for a minute” and Dick is like “I would be perfectly content to never return home for the rest of my days.”
Of all the Robins, Dick is absolutely the one who respects Bruce the least. He loves the guy, but he just canNOT take him seriously.
(Do you think it was the time Bruce sent a box of bats to someone? Or the times Bruce gets captured and has to be rescued by his damsel side-kick? Or the way Bruce is like an overprotective mother, coming this close to reminding Robin to wash behind his ears? Or the way Bruce lets Robin say whatever he wants and never gets upset or offended or even hurt?
Or, maybe, Batman tripped on his cape once, and Dick just can never forget.)

Growing Pains [Barbara's POV] 4
Chapter 4 out of 6
Barbara doesn't know who Robin is under the mask, Dick does. This causes some strange interactions as their friendship develops.
In this chapter, Barbara begrudgingly learns to work together with Robin, the two of them growing closer through bullying Batman. It's not until Poison Ivy escapes that they truly become close, though.

Chapter 4: A Friend?
Barbara is completely thrown off by her second meeting with Robin that takes place the very next night when they’re patrolling the roofs.
She’s already out there when Batman and Robin land on the roof next to her. She is a little annoyed that Batman seems to take Robin with him, while she has to figure out where they’re at on her own. Meanwhile, she also mentally prepares herself for another round of insults with the new kid.
“Batman,” she greets, then tersely adds: “Robin.”
“Batgirl,” Robin greets with a smile, maybe he’s putting on a performance for Batman? Who just grunts as a hello, by the way. Honestly, Barbara sometimes wonders why she even bothers with him. Then Robin shocks her by saying: “Sorry for calling you a copycat.”
It seems out of nowhere and Barbara’s eyes flit over to Batman to see if she can discern if the hero told him to apologize. But he’s a blank slate as ever. However, not one to be outdone, she fumbles: “Oh, I- uhm, sorry for calling you stupid.”
“Great,” Robin smiles. “I think I see a robbery, lets get this show on the road!”
And with that he swings off the roof. Barbara is already lassoing her own homemade grappler, but she is stopped by Batman. She quirks a brow at him and he nods to Robin.
She follows his eyes and watches how the robber starts to look around, victim still at knife point, as a childish gleefully giggle bounces around the alley. Then Robin comes flying down, using the momentum to launch himself at the robber, punching him square in the jaw.
It’s pretty smooth, she has to admit that, but she’s not sure why Batman told her to watch. So, she turns back to the man, trying to match his silence by frowning.
Batman holds up his right hand then shows her how to make a proper fist. Then he grunts: “When punching, use your shoulder. Punch with that.”
Barbara is honestly tempted to pinch herself, because Batman is actually teaching her how to throw a punch. It’s basic stuff she learned in self defense classes her dad made her take, but it’s still him teaching her something, instead of being annoyed that she’s following after him. She knew she was in the loop with the belt and Batwave, but this is proof of a next step.
However, she doesn’t want to come across as weird or too eager, so she doesn’t pinch herself and instead copies the first and throws a punch at the air. “Like this?”
“Yes,” Batman nods. “You have better form than Robin had when he got here.”
“Hey!” Robin’s voice interrupts them, having landed on the roof behind them. “I punched perfectly fine. And I can punch now, did you see how I took out that guy?” He points to where the robber is tied up and parked on the sidewalk with a note pinned to him, waiting for a cop to find him.
Unable to help herself, Barbara sticks her tongue out at him, though she finds that she’s less infuriated with him than she was that morning.
Robin immediately points at her and exclaims: “She’s making fun of me! B, do something.”
Batman doesn’t say anything, just gives him a look and Robin pouts: “It’s more fun when you’re not doing the whole silence thing. It’s boring.”
“It’s an intimidation tactic,” Batman corrects.
“It’s being dramatic,” Robin counters and Barbara is stuck with the fact that Robin isn’t in awe of Batman, he’s comfortable with him. And Batman is comfortable with Robin too, because there is a minuscule shake of the head, before he scans the city to find their patrol route.
Barbara slides up next to Robin and softly asks: “How are you so chill doing that?”
“Insulting B?” Robin asks, then shrugs: “It’s easy. Look at him,” he gestures, “that’s a dork right there. You have to make fun of him a little bit.”
She cocks her head and watches Batman a little closer. Now that she thinks about it, he’s practically posing on that rooftop, letting the wind of a nearby AC outlet dramatically flap his cape. She gasps and says: “He is dramatic.”
Batman turns and glares at both of them, but Robin just cackles in his face and Barbara doesn’t find him that intimidating anymore. Maybe she doesn’t have to undermine Robin that much. Maybe he’s not completely insufferable.
Of course, nothing is perfect.
Despite their small peace, they don’t function as a team perfectly quite yet. Barbara isn’t used to having back up instead of being it, yelling at Robin for being in the way. Robin seems to count on someone catching him, having a couple of close calls with a building and getting mad at her for not having his back correctly.
Then there is also the rivalry when Batman attempts to teach them both something, which is a thing now. Barbara wonders why he suddenly changed his tune, feeling a little stab of jealousy towards Robin, who apparently didn’t have to deal with Batman’s cold shoulder.
So, whenever Robin is sent in alone Barbara feels huffy, because she totally could have taken those guys down too and she doesn’t need to learn from Robin, even if Robin learned from Batman. And whenever she’s sent in, she feels smug and can see Robin pout.
They snark at each other whenever the other does something right. Or wrong. Or when they feel like they did it better.
… They snark a lot. Sometimes bordering on insulting. Batman even had to physically pull them apart one time.
It’s a work in progress.
Though there is progress. Because when Barbara lags behind due to her lack of grappler it is Robin who notices and yells out: “B! Slow down!” and then when she catches up to them, he mutters: “Why the hell does she not have one of her own yet?”
And next patrol, Batman presents her with a grappler gun of her own, Robin proudly behind him as he says: “I told him to make it purple to match your outfit. Can’t have him ruin your theme, right?”
“Thanks, Robin,” she smiles, though she eyes him suspiciously for a moment, before dropping it and feeling daring enough to joke: “For all his drama, Bats doesn’t have a lot of style, does he?”
Robin laughs at that and if Barbara was high on Joker gas, she would have said that Batman pouts instead of stoically taking it.
However, with the coming of Robin he has gotten less stoic, letting out more actual words and instructions as well as facial expressions. Barbara desperately wants to know what goes on in his head, who is underneath the mask and what changed that made him let two children in when before he wanted nothing to do with teamwork.
It at least makes him more approachable, less untouchable. Not to Gotham at large, but to her and Robin.
She doesn’t know when she lost her hero-worship of Batman, but two weeks after first meeting Robin, they’re both in the rafters as Batman talks to her dad about a new drug on the streets. They have apprehended a few dealers, but haven’t located the source yet. Robin used to poke around below, talking to some of the cops. However, recently, he’s taken to keeping her company.
The warehouse they’re at in that moment has beams running across it, just below the roof. Barbara perches, liking to watch her dad work, but Robin enjoys ambling about them. Even with her gymnast training, Barbara isn’t totally comfortable up there, but for Robin it seems like a second home.
She is broken out of her thoughts by Robin saying: “Hey, Batgirl.”
“What?” she asks, turning to look at him.
Robin has dramatically draped his smaller cape around him and is holding two fingers up to mimic the ears on the cowl. For a second Barbara thinks he’s back to mocking her, but then he puts on a low gravelly voice and grunts: “I have gathered some information through my super secret ways that are scaring the shit out of random hooligans. Marvel before me.”
Without her permission, a giggle startles out of her. Before Robin came, she never would have laughed at Batman, but it’s not like Robin is wrong. The more she sees behind the curtain, the more ridiculous he seems.
The laughter intensifies and Robin joins in when Batman looks up at them with a glare, obviously having heard them and looking very much like Robin is.
“Hi, B,” he smiles innocently at Batman as he drops the hands, which only makes Barbara giggle harder, biting down a snort, because her dad will surely recognize her if she lets that slip.
“I don’t know how you do it, Batman,” Barbara hears her father say. “Or why for that matter. Kids aren’t my idea of great back up. But they’re effective at least, half of Gotham’s underbelly is scared of a child giggling, the other thinks you can multiply. Where did you even find these kids?”
Batman gives a noncommittal grunt, his favored style of communicating. Barbara feels guilty towards both of them. She knows her dad doesn’t want her to be out here and neither did Batman. If she hadn’t be as stubborn about it, Batman wouldn’t need to evade explaining himself to her dad.
Robin glances down, then glances at her, a little frown on his face that she’s so accustomed to seeing smile. He’s probably offended at the implication that they aren’t great backup.
Fear spikes in her veins as Robin swings down. He’s probably going to get mad at her dad and then Batman will be disappointed, but she’ll feel like he’s annoyed with her, because if she had never shown up he wouldn’t have to justify himself to her dad in the first place, because he could’ve had a harsh no sidekicks stance.
However, Robin doesn’t do that. He lands on Batman’s shoulders – a thing both of them have gotten used to, since Robin insists on landing on them most of the time – and leans forwards as he stands, towering over her dad as he grins: “Don’t worry, Commish. We just stack on top of each other, practically an adult.”
Her dad startles backwards slightly, obviously not expecting a child in his face all of a sudden. On top of Batman, Robin tugs on one of the cowl ears, saying: “Did you get what we’re here for, B? I wanna go now.”
Batman grunts again and even Barbara now knows that it’s agreement. So, Robin cheers and flips off Batman’s shoulders, never hitting the ground, but grappling back to Barbara. It’s almost like he’s flying.
That thought itches at Barbara’s brain, but she shakes it off as Robin lands and immediately challenges: “Last one to meeting spot B3 is a dunce face,” and she has to yell at him and follow along.
It’s weird that’s she’s not even offended how he stepped in and is now insulting her. It feels a little like having a friend.
Still, in spite of the good times, there is still a sliver of distrust. Barbara has no clue where he came from and why he’s doing it. Same goes for Batman, obviously, but he has established his methods and character long before Barbara put on a costume. Robin hasn’t. He’s a wild card and nothing big enough has happened yet that will make Barbara fully trust him.
That final push only comes when Poison Ivy escapes captivity to terrorize the city with an army of recently freed green house vegetable plants.
Barbara hates fighting Poison Ivy the most, but it’s the first big threat they’ve faced since Killer Croc at the bank and despite Robin’s training, Barbara still knows her fighting style best and has the most experience. So, she gets put in the front and Robin on plant duty, a thing she would have been more smug about if she weren’t up against Pamela.
But they are up against Pamela. Against the closest thing she had to a friend. Next to Robin. Fuck, what a shitty revelation to have now. She hates this.
Pamela is hurt, backed into a corner. Just a kid like they are. Sure, she’s dangerous, but she comes from a good place. Barbara always has a hard time hurting her. Her plant monsters aren’t a problem, but Pamela is and it sucks that they can’t get rid of the plant monsters without hurting her.
Batman is on his way to their location, having developed a way to hopefully get her plants to stop attacking people so they can take her in non-violently. Barbara is very pro-non-violence here.
Her job is to keep Pamela contained until Batman gets there, a job that is easier on paper than in reality. Especially seeing, well, everything. It’s not that she isn’t trying, she is! She has kept Pamela on that rooftop for fifteen minutes already and she’s pretty sure Robin has found his groove in cutting down the plant monsters trying to crawl up the wall.
However, when Pamela lunges, Barbara has to drop her grappler that she’s keeping ready just in case as she keeps Pamela busy.
After that it’s the two of them rolling around the roof, both trying to get the upper hand. If Barbara can manage to pin her down, then she might not get hurt. If she can arrest her now, she won’t have to face Batman or Robin, who won’t be as gentle as her.
With determination, she manages to wrestle Pamela underneath her, but then Pamela hisses and lets out a pained cry. Barbara is transported back to that night in that stupid factory and she stumbles backwards, her back foot suddenly finding nothing up air as she goes toppling off the roof with a loud cry, hands scrambling for a grappler she no longer has.
For a second time doesn’t exist.
Wind passes by her ears.
Yet, the world is dull. Sped up and slowed down at the same time.
Then a hand is grabbing her arm and she’s not falling as fast. It takes her a second, before she realizes that Robin has caught her, the information barely processing as they tumble onto a nearby rooftop.
Barbara is still disorientated, but Robin’s loud yells gets through to her. “What the fuck is wrong with you, Batgirl? You had her! I saw you. You had her. What the hell were you thinking?”
Anger surges through her veins, because who does he think he is, lecturing her? She screams: “That she was my friend, Robin. That she’s a fucking kid, like you. Like me. That I’m the reason she’s like that now. That I can never fucking save her. And now I was hurting her. I hurt her. I never want to fucking hurt her, but I keep having to.”
“You could have watched your fucking step,” Robin spits back, a little less intense.
“You try watching your step, dickface,” Barbara says, voice venomous. Her anger is still too present, the fear turning into adrenaline. “Why are you so fucking upset anyway. I was fine.”
“Well, you almost weren’t. Alright? You almost died back there. You started falling and I- I-” Robin falters a little, something that she never thought she’d see with his cocky personality. “I had to watch you fall. And I- I wasn’t sure that I could catch you. I don’t- I can’t- Fuck! I can’t watch you fall.”
He looks her in the eyes and despite the lenses, she knows he’s near tears. Her own pushing against her eyes too.
Fuck, tonight has been a mess.
They’re both a mess.
But something clicks in Barbara’s chest too. Robin, whoever he is, truly cares about her. About saving people. He was worried about her. She doesn’t know when he became worried about her, nor when she started caring about how he felt. But here she is. Here they both are.
They’re breathing heavily, staring at each other as they process everything. The last few minutes reeling in their minds, before settling.
In that moment, Barbara is so glad to have someone at her side, who has her back, who worries. Someone who gets it. Because Robin does get it. She doesn’t know what, but something happened that made him scared to watch her fall. Something like what happened to Pamela.
She makes a split second and crushes Robin in a hug, uncaring about the plant monsters scaling the building behind him. She chokes: “Thank you for saving me, Robs.”
Robin hugs her back tightly and she graciously ignores the wetness on her skin and his tight voice as he replies: “I’m glad you’re okay. So glad.”
Batman returns just in time to take out Pamela’s plants and peacefully hand her over to the cops, before he goes to find his two sidekicks, who are still attached at the hip, sitting on the roof watching. They would have stepped had he needed them.
He has two cookies with him in his utility belt, handing both of them one without a word. Barbara gratefully chomps down on hers, needing the comfort after the emotional night. They taste familiar and like comfort. She’s too emotionally exhausted to question it and just gratefully bites into it.
She thinks it’s part of Batman’s silent way of communicating, confirmed by Robin’s small smile as he leans into her further, though not before pulling Batman down to sit with them. It’s like they’re an actual unit now, instead of three people trying to work together.

Billy’d debated for the past few weeks what his favorite sound was. It was always between your laughter or your moans, couldn’t quite decide what he loved more. Though, today was the first day that you’d moaned his name as you ground against him while you kissed him in his Camaro. He’d suggested the first time the week prior after your debate, he parked at the farthest spot he could so no one would be able to see how you climbed into or where you went. Billy’d find a quiet place near the forest on the side of a less occupied road. It was always during lunchtime since you’d realized that making out or doing more in some places at school would simply make you have a panic attack eventually and you truly needed to work during detention since you’d been called out by the Principal saying that the last three detentions you’d barely made any progress.
You tried not to laugh but there was a hint of a smile on Billy’s lips as he thought about what you’d done in the library. Therefore, the Camaro would become your routine. Lunchtime arrived, you would tell Eddie or Robin, depending on who you were walking to lunch with that you needed to study for something since you didn’t have time because of detention; meanwhile, Billy would tell the people he wanted to be alone, snap at them if they’d any questions and drive the Camaro to where you would usually meet.
A few cars would pass here and there but they wouldn’t blink an eye at the Camaro, the speed that would usually drive through the road wouldn’t give them the time to actually check out what was happening inside of the Camaro.
They wouldn’t be able to see both of your legs curled up on Billy’s side, one hand wedged between both of your chests while the other weaved its way into Billy’s curls, tugging slightly as he kissed you roughly. His hands seared into your hips, digging into your sides as your skirts or dresses or shirts -depending on the day, would ride up a bit as he pushed his whole body against yours.
The kisses were reckless, breathless, thunders, pure gasoline. Part of you hated it, hated how much your body craved him and that no one had made you feel like he could. You recalled the first day you’d met him, how you knew that he had broken so many hearts before, how you knew that he tossed girls aside without any care in the world and how you’d sworn to yourself that you wouldn’t be another one of the bunch.
And yet, there you were. His name spilled from your lips like it was a prayer.
You definitely hadn’t learned anything.
Instead, the need had begrudgingly only grown stronger, developing into an everyday kind of thing over the course of the past week and a half. As much as it pained you to believe it, you couldn’t keep your hands off of him and you wished he’d never take his hands off of you.
“Billy,” you breathed against his mouth, as you gyrated your hips on his lap in slow circles. Absolutely loved the way he seemed to respond, he was so hard that you could barely focus by the way he was pressing against you.
You pressed your lips harder against his as Billy’s hands moved up and down your sides, into your hair then back down again. He wanted to touch you everywhere, all at once, every square inch of your body; which only made you want him more. You tug at his neck pulling him into you as closely as you possibly could. Billy makes some strained sound before he pulled your hips harder against him. He can feel you, your underwear wrecked allowing him to feel how warm and wet and willing you were; you moaned and breathed against the other’s mouth.
Billy knew he wanted to have you, he knew how much he wanted you and if it was with any other girl, he thought he might’ve done something already about it. But this was you, Billy simply felt like he could wait a little longer, pleasing you got him off just fine but as the days passed, his will became stronger.
“You’re making this so hard,” Billy whispered before he was sucking on your neck and you were tugging at his hair, he sucked on the flesh of your chest as he nudged the sweater you were wearing down before he was pushing the shoulder of your sweater a bit down, exposing one of the cups of your bralette.
“What?” you teased innocently as you cupped his face softly, forcing him to look up from your chest before pressing your lips to his jaw while still straddling him.
“You’re such trouble, princess,” Billy smiled as he placed his large on the nape of your neck as guided you down to kiss you senselessly.
Both of you smile into the kiss before Billy lets go of you, focusing on your chest that was littered with a few hickies he’d left there, just to remind you of him when you were alone. He loved it, to know that he’d marked you and that underneath those nice and preppy clothes that you wore, he was there. You often complained but you secretly loved it too.
“Billy,” you whined as he kissed over the bralette, loving how you were arching your back toward him.
For a moment, you realized how much Billy made you forget about everything around you. It didn’t matter if you were kissing senselessly, or if he was talking with you about a new song he’d heard on the radio, or if you were just close while reading your respective things; time seemed to fade away when you were close with him.
Everything just paused, it was just you and him.
You let out a shaky breath as you opened your eyes to see him working on you but as you were about to look down, from the distance you saw a familiar car driving up to where you were.
As it got a bit closer to you, you realized whose it was.
“Fuck,” you gasped before you were pushing Billy by his chest and you were climbing down from his lap. Billy was startled for a moment as he saw how you were dropping to your knees in the Camaro, climbing down his body.
Effectively, you managed to hide, hiding your head on Billy’s lap as Craig’s car passed next to the Camaro. Your breathing was harsh, your heart probably was about to pop from your chest as you shook softly. The last time that Craig had found you while doing something you shouldn’t, you’d almost ended up in the hospital and it’d been the reason why you’d moved to Hawkins. He would probably kill you if he found out that you were sneaking out from school to go and make out with the resident bad boy of Hawkins.
Billy noticed your harsh breathing right away, your pinched lips, and the distress in your eyes. He frowned softly as he stared at the car that had just passed in front of you, he recognized it from the time he went to your place. Something was up. Billy sighed as he softly pushed some stray hairs from your face as he looked down at you, observing you under him as you caught your breath for a moment. He got worried for a second, his mind wondering if you were having a panic attack but you were a little bit calmer than the first time he’d seen you get one, he, unfortunately, opted for light humor instead.
“So, listen,” Billy started, making you look up to him. “I’m really not complaining but I wanted it to be special,” Billy said with a smirk.
You glared at him. “Shut up,” you grumbled before you were climbing out of his legs and placed yourself on the passenger’s seat.
Billy frowned at you, he opened his mouth but then choose to close it before he decided to start closing his shirt and rearranging his pants. You sighed as you began to fix yourself again, at the end of the day you would both need to be in class in less than twenty minutes.
“What’s the deal with him?” Billy asked, turning to you as he turn on the engine.
“With who?” you answered, it was clear as day that you were trying to play stupid, that you didn’t want to touch on whatever could’ve happened with your step-father but it only made Billy even more curious.
“Your stepfather, you were hiding from him,” he explained as he began to drive you back to school.
You sighed, refusing to look at him while you gazed through the window. Billy tried to focus on the road but his eyes were searching for something in your face, any type of hint or clue that could clock him into what you were thinking. He’d come to find that you had even taller and stronger walls than him, you’d talked through the time that you’d spent together about many things but it was mostly kept at surface level or at small comments here and there, nothing too heavy or too personal.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” you huffed as you looked farther into the forest, you were willing to hide your emotions by donning a casual tone.
But Billy could read you, even through the harsh walls that you kept up, he could read you sometimes. He wasn’t sure how he did it and why it was with you that he felt such kinship but yet he did. He understood that there was something that was hurting you, a deep gash on your heart because you looked as white as a sheet, Billy could see it as his eyes flickered from the road to you.
“Okay but you know that you can talk to me, right?” Billy stated, watching you softly as he parked in the usual spot he did.
You would usually get out of the car as fast as you possibly could, making sure that no one would actually see you, especially now with the elections for class president being in just two weeks. No one could see you with him but today, you didn’t slip out of the car as you usually did.
“I can?” you asked with a frown as you gazed back at Billy.
He shrugged, his lips tight for a second before his eyes met yours. It was strange, how nervous you made him when you were looking at him like that, even though he’d been buried between your legs, he was still nervous about it.
“Yeah, we are kind of friends, no?” he asked.
“We are?”
Billy’s eyes narrowed while he frowned. “Stop answering my questions with questions,” he grumbled and you pinched the bridge of your nose.
“I’m sorry, it’s just,” you sighed as you looked away for a second, your hands nervously twiddling with your sweater. “I didn’t think that we could, I thought we were just messing around,”
Billy pursed his lips. Just messing around, that was it? He thought to himself. He knew that you hadn’t had any real conversation regarding the stage of your relationship but he couldn’t help to feel his chest tighten as he heard what you believed it was.
“Well, we are but,”
“Yeah, and no one can know so I don’t think we need to talk about it,” you stated seriously while looking at him.
Billy held his breath as he looked at you. It shouldn’t be fair, it shouldn’t be like this, at least not with you. And yet he didn’t know what to do or how to say that it wasn’t just messing around.
“Right,” he finally breathed out as he looked away while you gave him a quick nod and climbed down off the Camaro.
You felt your heart squeezing on your chest as you climbed down off the Camaro before you gazed back at Billy who was still looking away from you. He was so hard to read these days, not that he was ever easy to read but you couldn’t tell whether or not he agreed with what you’d said. It was even stranger that even though you knew exactly how far whatever you had was able to go, part of you longed for him to disagree with you but you still didn’t know exactly what you wanted him to say.
You walked away with that in your mind, not as attentive as you usually were but you truly couldn’t care that day enough to sneak around; you’d been there many times before and no one had said anything, you truly believed nothing would happen. Unbeknownst to you, though, there was always someone watching.
The day went on as usual, except for the fact that Billy didn’t come that day to Peaches as you’d hoped he did. You, though, tried not to mind. Telling yourself that it was okay if he had chosen not to see you, even though when you got out of cheerleading practice, you’d notice his Camaro still at school so you knew for a fact that he was in basketball practice.
That night you took your bike for a run, as you tried to take your mind off Billy and what you’d talked about. You often feared getting closer to people, even more, now when you’d been hurt so many times before and with Billy… the thought of him hurting you petrified you. You were cautious, it was in your nature, you knew how much appearances could deceit you and with Billy, it seemed like his appearance matched with what you thought of him; even as you felt something, you didn’t know if you could trust him.
You barely slept that night, tossing and turning in your bed as you thought about Billy’s eyes. When you arrived at school that day, you realized that you can finally breathe, you felt like you’d been gasping for air since the day before.
You climbed down off your bike fairly quickly, walkman covering your ears as you blast music to keep your brain from thinking about Billy too much. Maybe that’s why you don’t notice the whispers or the stares as you enter the school; maybe, part of it is because you’d gotten used to people looking at you but at least not in the magnitude that they were currently watching you.
It goes unnoticed by you until you reached your locker, taking some books out as you sighed tiredly when you realized that you had detention with Billy in the afternoon. You think about what to say that day if you were going to be brave enough to go to the Camaro, though you lose your train of thought as you are suddenly turned by a pair of hands on your shoulders.
You flinch slightly as you find yourself being pressed against the locker by Robin, her eyes wide and frantic as her mouth moves. With your headphones still in your ears, you can barely listen to her and she notices your expression right away before she’s yanking your headphones off.
“What the fuck, Robin?” you grumble as you take the headphones from her hand.
You weren’t in a good mood that day, being startled in such a manner wasn’t a good way to start your day. Though, you do notice that she doesn’t care, ignoring your question completely before she speaks.
“Are you sleeping with Billy Hargrove?” Robin asked.
Your heart sunk as you stared back at Robin, your mind running a hundred miles per hour as you wondered what to say. Lie. No, Robin would be able to see the lie in your eyes. Don’t even entertain the idea of it.
“What?” you ask her, your voice a bit wavery as you frowned.
“I said, are you-”
“I know what you said!” you grumbled, your brows still furrowed. “Why would you think that!?”
Robin relaxed a bit, her grip on you being less strong than before. She was believing you, you just needed to nudge her more into it.
“Everyone’s talking about how you were climbing down from his Camaro yesterday at lunch and since Billy’s been missing from lunch and you too, everyone’s wondering if,”
You didn’t let her finish, you needed to squash the rumor hard, and fast because there was no way that you could be associated with Hargrove. He could be the most popular kid at the school but you needed to keep your campaign clean and without associating yourself with one of the main bullies of the school; even more, in a small town like that you knew that rumors ran fast, you couldn’t allow it to get to the ears of Craig.
“Well, I mean I just went out with him to talk about our English project,” you explained to Robin who nodded softly, seemingly believing you completely. “You know that I can't stand him, right?” you lied as you watched Robin letting go of you.
“Yeah,” she reasoned and you finally take a deep breath as you take her hand in yours.
“Help me shut this down, please,” you pleaded with her, your jaw tight as you think about the ramifications of not being as careful as before. “No one can be thinking that!”
True to her word, Robin helped you through the day as you kept on receiving different looks and comments from people. You’d talked with each and every one of your study group in each class, you would bring up the topic in any way you could as always it wasn’t too obvious but you would clearly refuse any kind of association with Billy.
“No way people are saying that!” “I can’t stand him, that’s why we fought in the cafeteria,” “He’s a bully, there’s no way that I could be friends with him,” “No, it’s about a stupid English project that Mrs. Clarke put us in,” “Yeah, he wishes,” “He’s been with every popular girl at the school, I don’t want to be another,”
There was a bitter taste in your mouth each time you finished a conversation where you denied that Billy was somehow close to you. You wondered how he’d been reacting to the rumors, you hadn’t really seen much of him that day, and when you went to your locker before lunch there wasn’t any note that let you know he was waiting for you in the Camaro. Part of you wanted to pretend that it was okay what you were doing, that it was okay to not have any association with him whatsoever, ignoring how your heartache each time you repeated that he’d been slutty and that you wouldn’t be another one of the bunch.
And yet you were.
By lunchtime, you just had to deal with one last group: The cheerleading squad. If the rumors had to end it should be there with some of the popular girls in the school.
“So, what you’re saying is that you weren’t in the Camaro with him,” Erica, one of Chrissy’s best friends asked as you sat down at the table as poked her lunch.
You rolled your eyes, you were aware of the skepticism in her voice, the lingering sarcasm.
“I was but we were discussing our English project,” you replied as you narrowed your eyes at her. “How would you feel if there was a rumor like that about you?”
Chrissy quickly wrapped an arm around your shoulder, giving you a soft squeeze as she narrowed her eyes at Erica too.
“You know, we don’t believe it, right?”
“Thank you, Chrissy,” you replied with a soft smile.
Riley, one of the other girls giggled, though. “I would’ve liked it if the rumor was about me, Billy is so attractive,” she gushed, her hands on her heart as she swooned.
“Yeah, until he’s dumping you for the next girl,” Jessica, another girl who had probably been with Billy given her sullen features spoke.
“I’m pretty sure it was Tina who started the rumor,” Tammy commented and everyone at the table nodded.
You frowned.
“Tina?”
Chrissy pointed you to one of the girls that sat on the table for the popular kids, along with Jason, Carole, Tommy, and Billy. “She was with Billy during summer,” she explained to you.
You’d seen her glaring at you before and you were sure that you had some classes with her, she belonged to Billy’s group, popular ones. You now understood, the reason for it all and it wasn’t new, she wanted Billy all for herself and you couldn’t help yourself to feel a bit of irritation as your gaze followed Chrissy’s.
At least, until those electric blue eyes stole your attention as he sat down on the lunch table; Billy’s eyes were on you as he sat down with a coy smile while your face dropped, quickly becoming a blushing mess as you saw how he looked. You cursed how pretty the sunny day made his eyes and curls look, those pretty blue eyes that seemed like the ocean while he stared at you.
And then, he fucking winked at you.
Your stomach dropped as all of the cheerleaders immediately turned around to check on you, as if you’d just been caught on a lie, as if you weren’t someone to be trusted they narrowed their eyes at you, waiting for your response. You stared at Billy for a second, part of you wanted to go there and slapped him before you kissed him; but your better judgment got ahead of you. What would people actually think if you were hanging out with Billy, not only that but you were starting to have feelings for Hawkins's resident heartbreaker. How would Craig react?
You frowned at him, giving him the nastiest glare you’d given him before quickly turning to Chrissy and the other cheerleaders.
“This is what I mean!” you squeaked, outrage lingering in your voice.
The girls must’ve bought it. Some of them narrowed their eyes at Billy’s while others gasped as they realized that you truly didn’t have any interest in Billy Hargrove. They murmured in each other’s ear while they looked away from Billy and at you, already the rumor dilating from your fantastic skills as an actor. Relief washed over you as you gazed at them and nodded, while some looked back at Billy grinning up at him, happy that they now had a chance after they’d lost their hope.
And Billy?
Livid.
He was staring at you with his jaw unhinged and a sharp glint in his eyes that made you realize that you might’ve overdone it. Billy didn’t show up for English that day and for the first time you didn’t blame him, you felt awfully bad for what you’d done, guilt filling your chest as you recalled the words that you’d spewed all day. Part of you believed that you were overthinking it, Billy was known for having multiple girls in his beck and call and you weren’t new to being another girl for an asshole that truly didn’t care about you. You truly believed that in approximately two weeks he must’ve found another girl to make out with in his Camaro and you would be another story; even more importantly, your reputation with the school and Craig wouldn’t be damaged by it.
Billy fitted the type, that’s what you convinced yourself, and yet, you couldn’t help but feel dread as you thought of seeing him in detention.
You left your locker before Robin or Eddie could catch you, you ran up to Steve but much to his confusion you told him that you would be late for detention, even if Mr. Clarke always took about twenty minutes after the last ring of the bell and you’d told him so. To your surprise, Billy was already at the library when you arrived and Mr. Clarke was late too. You didn’t want to say anything to him and Billy didn’t say a word as you waited for Mr. Clarke. You followed Mr. Clarke’s instruction once he arrived, you nodded attentively at him and Billy simply grunted in affirmation, and yet you believed he noticed your scowls.
Mr. Clarke left you alone after ten minutes of supervising and it took almost another thirty minutes for either of you to speak.
If you could’ve avoided it, you would’ve but Billy made it difficult for you not to.
“You have to stop doing that,” you spat before giving him a stern look.
Huffs and grunts accompanied by furious glares that were a bit too obvious to let pass began to hurt you in a deeper way than you would’ve ever wanted to admit. Billy could tell that he’d hurt your feelings by the little irritating gestures that he made for forty minutes and he was somehow impressed that you hadn’t snapped at him.
But he didn’t react to your voice. Instead, he frowned as he heard your words but continue to stack the books as he’d done for the past forty minutes, he doesn’t grace you by looking you in the eye, which in turn just annoyed you even more.
“Hey,” you exclaimed again as you rounded up on him, finally making him stop ignoring you.
Billy simply narrowed his eyes in annoyance but remained silent as he gazed at you. You know you hurt him, you can see it in his eyes; even when you were fighting he’d never looked at you like that.
“What I did at lunch today, I was just trying to squash a rumor that we’re sleeping together,” you said firmly.
“Yeah, heard that,” Billy answered as he shrugged his shoulders while your brows furrowed.
“And what did you say?” you asked anxiously.
“The truth, we haven’t slept together,” Billy replied firmly. “And who cares about what they think anyway?”
“I care,” you hissed, glancing at the main desk of the library where some old ladies were. “Look, I don’t want to get caught with you, so please just keep your distance until we see each other at lunch?”
Billy's eyes narrowed in annoyance. He had tried to ignore how he’d felt all day after you’d right down shut him down from being your friend, but with your attitude at lunch; he honestly only could feel like he dragging his heart through the floor.
Billy Hargrove had always known that love wasn’t for him and yet, nothing had prepared him for when he was actually rejected by the girl that each day just assured him that love did exist by just breathing;  now it had made him realize that truly wasn’t for him.
“You’re a hypocrite, you know?” he snapped at you.
“What do you mean by that?”
Billy chuckled sourly at your question while you glared at his reaction.
“You just want me to mess around, to distract you and when I do the same with other girls, I’m a playboy and an untrusty person,” He answered bitingly while you gave a step back as you realized how angry he actually was at you.
And yet, as you studied his features, you realized that under that glare you could feel him saddened by your action.
“Billy,” your voice a bit softer than before. “I didn’t mean… I thought that we were just messing around. It’s not like we’re in a relationship or anything of the sort.” you reasoned, adverting your gaze while staring at the ground.
Billy scoffed. “So, this thing between us, is just you using me?”
“I’m not using you,” you replied quickly.
You would never use him, you just didn’t want to get hurt.
Billy stared at you, letting the silence sit in for a moment as your gazes met. Billy hated that you looked so beautiful, hated that you were the cause of his heart racing in such a manner, hated that you were the thing that kept him up all night and the thing he dreamed about when he managed to sleep. He wondered if he should just come right out and say it, his feelings about you but that wounded part of his soul didn’t allow him to say anything.
He had enough misery for a lifetime, he couldn’t be rejected right out of the gate.
“You really don’t like me?” Billy finally asked softly, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
You sighed as you watched him carefully, your heart racing as you took in his scent.
Yes, yes I do, you thought but you couldn’t bear yourself to say it.
“Don’t do this, Billy” you pleaded with him, your eyes soft.
He wanted to kiss you when you were looking at him like that.
He didn’t though.
“I’m not your toy, y/n,” he stated. “I actually care about you and this, I just don’t want to do this if you truly feel nothing,”
“Billy,”
He let go of you abruptly as he walked away from the library, and out he went. You stood there, in the library as you ran a hand through your hair and wondered how badly you’d fucked up.

Note
can i *coughs* can i hear more about this sb and robin love square??
maybe i should make a tag for it to group all the posts i make about it but uhhh
its basically just me playing with the lovesquare pairings and taking moments from the mlb show and applying timkon to it, like the balcony scene. its not a super detailed au or whatever.
one of the biggest things i wished the show did was explore how the different dynamics change and kind of merge into one as they get to know each other better, or how they could potentially reverse dynamics so i imagine smth like that happening w this au i guess
i guess the first one would be called superrobin? superboy and robin meet each other as heroes and become a team, and its pretty much the same as ladynoir in the show. flirting and bantering, unending trust and loyalty and adoration, but the secret identities keep them a hair apart. in the comics, SB takes a bit to come around but i do think he's always admired and cared about robin's opinion of him, and then the whole angst trust issue thing ladynoir got going on in s4 is sort of like tim and kon in the era of comics where kon had trouble trusting tim bc tim wouldnt reveal his name and was secretive.
i haven't seen the last eps of s4 but im pretty sure there's a whole thing where mari thinks felix is adrien and he gets annoyed/jealous? yeah im imagining that but with Match posing as Kon and kon being annoyed lol
then there's timkon, which i guess would be their civilian pairing? conner at first thinks tim is stuck up and acts like he's above it all, which is taken from their early dynamic in the comics and i just applied it to the civilian side. meanwhile tim is trying to deny his feelings. you know how marinette is like a fashion designer or whatever? i think tim should be a photographer
then you have...robinkon? robkon? which is the equivalent to ladrien. i guess both would be very flustered but idk what else to say about this one
and finally supertim...or timSB idkkkk. the marichat equivalent where you have tim and superboy who have the least affectionate opinion of each other in this form, but have a cool opportunity to get to see the other side of their pal. like superboy gets to see tim when he's not robin and how he's just a Kid you know trying his best, and tim gets to see that superboy isn't always bombastic and obnoxious and can be quite sweet, helping him realize that SB is a pretty good hero and a cool guy. of course in this, superboy wouldn't know tim is robin, but then he'd be nicer to tim when he's conner now that he's more understanding. also that episode where chat has to be marinette's bodyguard and she tries to hide her teasing? or the balcony scene? i like imagining those with them lol
also im pretty sure theres a theory adrien is a sentimonster or clone thingy and kon is a clone soooooo theres that too

you were blasting music into your headphones as you were trying to finish everything you needed to get done for the week. graduation was coming in just a few weeks and you had been neck deep in homework with essays and exams coming in from left and right.
you had even been putting off even hanging out or going on dates with Damian because your lack of time. he kept telling you that it was okay but in the back of your head, you felt wrong for denying him every time he asked you out.
Jon and Billy had been in the lair’s living room, lazying around until Nightwing or even Batman came in to give all of you times and coordinates for your patrolling tonight. you hadn’t even been hearing their conversation since your music was drowning out their conversations.
when you realized that your coffee had ran out and everything that you needed in order to make a new cup was in the kitchen, you took off your headphones and grabbed your cup, walking slowly to living room.
“where’s Damian?” Billy asked, kicking his shoes off, “oh, he’s training. ever since graduation for Gotham Academy came closer, ( your name ) has been putting him off to study so he’s been training to kill time.”
your eyebrows fluttered in confusion, not knowing if what Jon was saying was rude or not. “I have to give Damian props though,” Jon continued, “he’s been with her for two months now! we even had a small bet going to see how long he would be able to date her and he’s clearly won since he’s been with her longer than the month we bet on. even a few of the titans had placed bets that it wouldn’t last as long as it did. Raven put in a measly two weeks,” Jon laughed.
your eyes stared down at the ground, completely watery and stinging, “hey, that just shows Damian can commit to things that aren’t training although it’s like you said, it’s surprising they’re even together if she keeps putting him off,” Billy added on.
not realizing that your cup had slipped your grasp, the metal collided with the ground, making Jon and Billy turn around. they could see the hurt in your eyes as you remained frozen in place.
“hey ( your name ),” Jon murmured, “did you hear what we were talking about?” Billy asked, afraid at the answer.
your eyes turned into rage as you picked up your cup off the floor, “tell Damian that since our month is over, we’re done,” Jon immediately sprang up, “hey! please, don’t say that! you’re completely not understanding what we’re saying!” Jon said frantically.
Damian walked out of the solo training room, seeing Jon and Billy’s expressions as the tears ran down your face, “what’s going on?” Damian asked. you laughed, not wanting to even look at him, “great! you’re here! since our relationship was based on a bet that you had money on that would only last a month, you can count it as we’re over now!” you exclaimed.
you slammed your laptop and grabbed your backpack as Damian ran towards you. in a fit of complete rage, you turned around and punched him square in the stomach, making him fall onto Jon.
“go fuck yourself! as a matter of fact, you can find another member for the Titans! I quit!” you screamed, slamming your mask down onto the table and leaving the lair, “wait! please, this isn’t how you think it went down, please!” Damian begged.
you gave him the finger, “I hope you, right along with Jon and Billy, enjoy sitting on the shame that is playing with people’s emotions,” you said as Nightwing walked into the hallway, clearly lost on what was happening, “the next time you, Jon, Billy, hell! even the Titan’s decide to play with people’s emotion for the sake of getting money, make sure it’s someone who’s not on the same team as you,” you whispered.
“don’t leave, please don’t leave. Nightwing, stop her!” Damian said in panic as you got onto your bike, “Nightwing, since the Titan’s are now down a member, you can tell whoever was fighting a place that my spot is now vacant,” you managed to say before revving your bike and riding onto the street.
“what is going on?” Nightwing asked the three. he had never saw Damian so hurt, meanwhile Billy and Jon were left speechless, “my girlfriend just broke up with me!” Damian murmured, a feeling in his heart that he had never felt before, “she overheard a conversation Billy and I were having but I think she only heard a piece of it,” Jon tried to rationalize.
Damian looked at the two, pure rage coming over his body, “it’s both your fault?” he screamed, charging them with his sword. Nightwing quickly grabbed his brother, taking the sword away from his grasp, “she only heard some of the conversation! we never meant for her to actually get upset.”
Nightwing stood in between the three, “listen, whatever happened, all of you need to apologize. now, I can’t promise that she’ll rejoin the team,” he warned Damian, “if she decides to come back, that’ll be her decision....AND HER DECISION only,” Nightwing said, “but if she decides not too, I can’t force her to overturn her decision,” he added on, “no matter who you’re related too.”
Damian knew he was hinting at Bruce when he added in the last part. there was no way any of them could actually convince you to come back if you didn’t want too. they could try and persuade you but it was ultimately your decision if you wanted to rejoin the team.
+
once you got back home, you felt as though your heart hadn’t completely accepted what happened. a part of you felt like it was some sort of sick joke and you needed to wake up from it.
alas, it wasn’t and you knew that what Damian and you had was something that wasn’t going to happen again. it stung knowing that Jon, the one who seemed so innocent all the time, was actually in on the joke and was sitting there and laughing at you.
you hadn’t known Billy for that long. the two of you became acquainted not long after you got with Damian and while you thought of him as a friend, it still hurt that he too was in on the joke.
your mom was working late as she was helping Gotham Academy with situating for graduation planning. your mom didn’t know about you and Damian thankfully so even though you were completely heartbroken, it’s not like she knew about what you were going through.
you flopped onto your bed, trying to control your breathing when the doorbell rang. tiptoeing to the front door, hoping it wasn’t any of the three idiots, you were stricken with relief when you saw that it was Bart of all people.
“hey Allen, what are you up too? wait a minute, what you doing here in Gotham?” you asked, welcoming him inside. Bart chuckled softly, “I’m here for some stuff on the behalf of my family. don’t worry about it,” he murmured, “I went to the lair looking for you and you were gone.”
you hummed, not knowing if you were willing to tell him the actual story of why you weren’t there, “you okay? you look like you were crying!” he exclaimed, seeing the puffyness under your eye and the redness around it. you sighed shakily, “truthfully? I’m not but it’s nothing to worry about,” you tried to say calmly.
Bart gave you a look, not fully convinced, “seriously? I can’t talk to you about the real reason on why I’m here if you’re upset. tell me!” he restated, looking at you dead in the eye. you dragged him inside, not wanting anyone to heart, especially if Damian was on his bullshit and spying on you.
you got Bart up to your room, locking the door and leaning up against the door. your back against it as you tried to contain your tears and running your hands through your hair, “I broke up with my boyfriend recently and I’ve been having a lot of issues with it since I found out,” you finally confessed.
Bart’s eyes twitched in annoyance, “you were dating someone?” he asked, a bit hurt that the girl he had been crushing on not only had a boyfriend but you were now heartbroken over it. you nodded, “not that my identity was ever a secret but I was dating Robin,” your eye twitched this time, annoyed at mentioning Damian.
Bart stood in disbelief, not believing that Robin, the one everyone thought was perfect, had broken up with you. a part of him wanted to strangle the boy but he knew that Robin was a lot more stronger than he was.
“if you don’t mind me asking, can I ask what happened?” Bart played with his fingers nervously. you stared at the ground, scared if you looked at Bart, you would bawl your eyes out, “he started dating me as a joke. he had made a bet with a few other sidekicks about being able to date me for a month and the longer he dated me, the more money he made,” your tears fell almost immediately at the confession.
Bart’s anger immediately rose as he tried to not say anything irrational, “are you kidding?” he asked. you shook your head no, not knowing what to say, “can I kick his ass?” he asked again, making you laugh for the first time in a while.
“sorry Allen but you know I won’t let you...especially because you and I both know how that would end,” you giggled, making Bart agree. you sat down on the bed next to him, “now why are you here? although I think I might know why,” you murmured.
The Flash family, especially Bart and Barry had taken an interest in you when you first joined the Titans. your powers had given you the ability to be as fast as the Flashes were. you weren’t exactly as speedy as Flash but your powers did let you have competition with Bart’s speed.
“you know Central city has been calling your name,” Bart whispered, looking at you. “you know you’d have a position with us and you wouldn’t be around Robin if you weren’t comfortable being around him,” Bart added in the last part.
you bit your lip, “come on, you know better than anyone that Gotham has nothing for you,” he tried to rationalize, “yeah, you have potential with the Bats but you know that joining us would make you an even bigger hero than you are here,” he said.
“Bart, is this really the reason why you want me to join all of you?” you asked. Bart nodded, hoping that you were actually considering it, “of course! you can join us out for patrol tonight and if you like it, you can join us over in Central City when you graduate,” he exclaimed.
“tonight? with who?” you asked. Bart pointed to himself with confidence, “with the one and only, Bart Allen!” he boasted. you laughed, “just tonight and if I don’t like it, I get to stay here!” you said, pointing your finger at his chest.
“SERIOUSLY?” he asked surprised. you nodded as you saw the time, “sure but remember what I said!” you yelled as he ran around your room in excitement.
the time you had ever went to Central City was when you went with Damian and Bruce on the behalf of Bat business so the feeling that you were now no longer going there with them felt a bit out of place. you looked at the time as Bart had told you that it wouldn’t take to long to get there with both your speeds.
you grabbed you uniform out of your closet and looked at the time, sensing that both you and Bart should get to Central City before both of your patrol times started. you could see the excitement coming from Bart as he was basically talking your ear off the entire way back to Central City.
-
through the following few days, you had actively ignored Jon, Damian, and Billy. it was harder for you to ignore Jon and Damian as they had known your home address but every time Raven had informed you on one of the boys coming and paying you a visit, Bart always seemed to come over and get you out of the house before they could.
this time was no different but today, you couldn’t ignore Damian even if you wanted too. today was Gotham’s graduation and with both you and Damian graduating at the top of the class, you both had to sat on the stage, right next to each other.
you had worn a plain neutral yellow dress with black shoes as you tried to follow Gotham’s school colors. the actual cap and gowns were not as cute as they had the tacky yellow cap and gown with black lining that made all of you look like bee’s.
up until this moment, you still hadn’t decided on what your plans were for after graduation. you had a bunch of unanswered acceptance letters from different University’s around the U.S. and one of them was from Central City State University.
they had personally reached out to you in order to attend their school. you had been thinking about actually accepting their letter for a while now and with Bart now offering to be your partner, you didn’t want to pass up the opportunity. you hadn’t told anyone besides your mother about the move to Central City and while she was upset to see you leave, she knew it was best to let you finally be on your own.
you had gotten to Gotham Academy, a bit early and tired as you had stayed up late with being on Face Time with Bart. the two of you had gotten closer over the course of the last few weeks and while you were still extremely heartbroken over Damian’s actions, a part of your heart was starting to fix itself with Bart now mending that piece.
you, on a very sporadic thought, had invited Bart and Barry to your graduation as you didn’t want to run into the chance of actually having to be alone with Damian. you wanted to make sure that you were either around your mom or Bart when everything was finished.
the stage had been set by the time you got to the Auditorium as you had saw your mom along with Bart and Barry in the front. since you were moving to Central City, partially for college and partially to continue doing hero work there, your mom had to introduce and get familiar with the family that was soon taking you in.
everyone knew that everyone who were connected to the Flash family had this flamboyant personality to them so when Barry and Bart introduced themselves to your mom, she was quite taken back. nevertheless, she did end up getting along well with them and felt safe with you moving there.
Damian had saw you sitting in the chair, on your phone as everyone sat in their seats. what he hadn’t realized was that Bart and Barry were right next to your mom. he had heard about your endeavors with going over to Central City to ‘intern’ with the Flash family and while he didn’t want to believe it, a part of him felt as though that might’ve been actually true now.
Damian looked at you with guilt crossing his face. you hadn’t been face to face with him since that fateful night and although it took every ounce of power to not scream at him, for the sake of his identity and the fact that all of you had to be professional, you gave him the side eye and turned to your headmaster who was approaching the stand.
Gotham Academy’s graduation had felt like centuries before it finally came to your turn to speak on the behalf of your class. you smiled at the crowd, waving at your family and the Allen’s before looking down at your paper. you gulped in nervousness as you began your speech.
“and although I have been keeping my college acceptance a secret, within the last few weeks, I’ve had the privilege of being scouted by a few schools and finally came down to the decision last week on which university I would attend. it is my honor and with grace to finally announce that I will be attending Central City State University in the fall! go Falcons!” you told the crowd as you opened up your gown to show off the school sweater.
you saw Bart’s face light up with excitement as he realized that you had accepted the Flash’s invitation to work with them. Damian had also realized that the rumors surrounding you actually leaving the Titan’s to work with the Flash was actually true and he felt his heart break realizing that you were no longer a part of his life.
you sat back down in your seat with a smirk playing on your face as you could basically feel Damian’s stare coming down on you. it wasn’t until after graduation when all of you got the chance to join your families again when you saw Bart and everyone else.
“are you really joining us in Central City?” he asked excitedly. you nodded, giving Bart a hug. the hug didn’t feel friendly. not in the slightest. it felt almost romantic as the two of you remained in an embrace longer than you had realized, “than I’m so glad our plan actually worked out!” Barry said in relief.
your eyebrows fluttered in confusion but he told you it was a surprise that you wouldn’t see until you got to Central City tonight. you nodded as all you had decided to take pictures before heading to eat. you had noticed Damian approaching you, a determined stare on his face but Bart quickly realized it and grabbed you by the wrist, making you join Barry and your mom again.
the night finally entered as you had made your way to Central City in order to get settled into your new apartment by signing the final papers over to the apartment. Barry and Bart had offered to show you around your new home, as if you hadn’t already recognized Central City already but nevertheless, you complied and let them show you.
you got into the core of the city, the lights twinkling and the noises of cars making you feel as though you were in a movie. Bart had covered your eyes with his hands as he told you your secret was coming up. a nervous feeling crept up to your stomach as you had no idea what was going on.
finally, all of you stopped and that was when Bart took his hands off your eyes. you stared at the large billboard that was high up in the sky as you felt tears spring your eyes.
“welcoming Central City’s newest superhero.”
the billboard read as it had a picture of you right next to the lettering. you looked to Barry and Bart before engulfing them into a hug as you thanked them profusely. Barry shrugged you off, “we should be thanking you. you’re going to help us so much! it’s the least we could do,” he said as Bart agreed.
Barry had mentioned that all of you were going to catch dinner at a restaurant and your reservation should be coming up soon. he had gotten the head start, whispering to Bart that he’d leave the two of you alone for a moment.
“seriously, thank you so much Bart,” you whispered, giving him another hug. he chuckled nervously, trying to wave you off, “you have no idea how much this means to me,” you added on.
you looked to Bart and got on your toes, hoping that your next action wasn’t a mistake. you gave him a quick peck on the cheek, making Bart go red in the face. it hadn’t fully set in that you kissed him until he realized that he hadn’t said anything back yet.
Bart grabbed your hand, giving it a soft kiss before doing the same to your cheek. you smiled at him shyly, grabbing his hand before telling him that you were going to be late for the reservation with Barry.
-
months had passed since you had started your new life in Central City. you hadn’t spared anyone in Gotham a second thought unless you were visiting your mom so you hadn’t contacted Damian or any of the Titan’s since then.
however, you had to go with Bart to the Titan’s tower today. you had to meet up with Nightwing there to get information Barry needed for a case. you were hoping that you didn’t run into any of the idiots while you were there with Bart but luck was not on your side that day and upon reaching the Titan’s tower, you were met with not only Damian but with Jon and Billy.
“where’s Nightwing?” you asked them. Jon gave you a sheepish smile, “he’ll be here soon,” he responded. you nodded, grabbing Bart’s hand and heading to the couch to say hello to Raven and Beast Boy.
the four of you got into conversation until Damian walked in, basically dragging you into the kitchen as Bart immediately stood up, running to where you were.
“what the fuck is your issue?” you yelled, snatching your hand back. Bart knew you could hold your own but he still wanted to make sure you were okay, “we need to talk,” he stated, looking to Bart. you laughed, “yeah, whatever you have to say you can say right now. I refuse to talk to you alone,” you said back.
Damian growled as Jon and Billy stood up, “that night when everything went down, we want to say that it was all a mistake. you had only heard a portion of what we were saying. we never intentionally made a bet on the two of you. we had made a bet that was basically us telling Da-Robin that he couldn’t do anything besides train and fight. Robin had actual feelings for you and the bet was never intentionally set on you. we swear,” Jon explained.
you looked to Damian and Billy as they both agreed. you rolled your eyes annoyed, “you think I’d actually believe that?” you looked to Bart and laughed before taking his hand, “the next time you actually want to make up lies, make sure they’re actually fucking believable!” you exclaimed laughing.
Bart laughed along with you, “you think we’re lying?” Damian yelled, “yeah because why should I ever believe what any of you three have to say. all of you are a bunch of pricks that are so far up your own asses that no one with an actual working brain would believe that lie.”
Bart’s mouth, along with everyone else, hung in disbelief and surprise. “seriously, the next time we see each other, make up a better lie and for the record, working with and in Central City has been actually been so refreshing! no offense,” you said looking over to the rest of the Titan’s, “especially since he’s been making it a lot easier,” you gave Bart a wink as he blushed slightly.
“so unless we actually have to speak to each other on professional terms, don’t bank on me ever contacting any of you again.”
you grabbed Bart’s hand as Nightwing had walked into the tower and the three of you walked into a solo conference room to actually do what Barry had sent you two for.

Little Sister
Harry Styles x Tomlinson! Reader
Word Count: 3.3k
Warnings: swearing, playful mentions of Larry
Masterlist
A/N: Heylo! I hope you enjoy this! I’ve been working on this for about a month now, never being able to finish it, but I decided to sit down and finish it tonight instead of wallowing in self-pity! The Larry mention at the end is meant to be funny and playful, not something to take seriously! Thank you and have a nice day! ❤️💕🥰
When your brother went to audition for the X-Factor in 2010, you expected him to come home after, maybe with a signed record deal, maybe not, but home nonetheless.
Instead, he was put into a boy band with four other boys, and moved out. Your mother was proud, of course as anyone would be, but that also meant her oldest child had left the nest.
That left you, now the oldest in the house, and your four younger sisters. Your mum was handling it the best she could, but with Mark out of the house constantly, it got stressful for her.
You didn’t like Mark that much, sure, he was nice, and he treated your mother alright, he just didn’t seem like a commitment kind of guy to you.
You were adopted shortly after your mum left Louis’s father. Mark was accepting of the fact that she already had two kids, but became a bit offended when she took your side in an argument instead of one of their kids.
You loved all your siblings equally, well, Louis a bit more than the other girls, but you still loved them no matter how their father acted.
When Louis left, you were left to help your mother with the other girls, Mark not being much help. You were often left to help them get ready for school, get ready for bed, and you even had to run errands for your mother.
Since you were only 16, and hadn’t gotten a driver’s license, you had to walk almost everywhere, but you didn’t mind, not when you were helping your mother.
Having a brother who had recently become a famous member of a boy band, also meant you had to watch all the girls at your school drool over him. This also meant that a lot more people were trying to be friendly to you.
Most of the girls at your school loved Louis, probably because they thought they had the best chance with him, not that they had any chance.
However, you preferred Harry. You always had a soft spot for sweet boys with curly hair, but this time felt different. It probably was just a silly little crush, you’d obsess for a few weeks and then get over it.
You were so, so wrong.
You watched your brother and his mates smash their way through the charts for the next two years, becoming the best boy band of the generation.
The whole family was immensely proud of him, even Mark. You were particularly proud of Harry, though the rest of your family didn’t really care.
The small crush hadn’t faded, instead it had grown in the past two years, each time you saw him on a photo your brother sent, or on TV, you flushed and your heart started racing.
He was just perfect. Perfect hair, perfect eyes, perfect dimples, perfect smile, perfect lips, perfect everything.
It honestly kind of upset you sometimes.
There you were, the sister of one of his best mates, same age as him too, and yet you had never met him.
That all changed when the band went to Madison Square Garden at the end of the year.
Since you were eighteen and finished with college, you were allowed to go with your mother to go see Louis perform.
As you and your mother approached the stadium, you felt a wave of awe wash over you. Your brother’s face was on the fucking front of Madison Square Garden. He was getting paid to be here.
Where the fuck did you go wrong?
The driver that Louis had hired pulled up in the front, allowing you both to get out along with Liam’s mum, Karen, who was a lovely lady.
You all climbed out of the car onto the busy New York City street, people busling past your trio to file into the large arena.
Your mother grabbed your hand and Karen’s as well, pulling you both into line.
Meanwhile, the boys were sitting in front of the camera, discussing their feelings about the upcoming show. Zayn and Liam were currently in the dressing room, and Niall was finishing his dinner, so Louis and Harry were left to be interviewed.
“You know, this is a big show for us, obviously,” Harry said, trying not to be gesticulative as he spoke, nerves buzzing through his body.
“Yeah, of course it’s big cos it’s MSG, but this is also the only one that all of us have at least one family member in the audience. Liam, Niall, and Zayn have their mums, Harry has his mum and stepdad, and my mum and sister are coming, which is of course rattling, you want them to be proud of you,” Louis said, leaning back on the couch.
Harry paused for a moment, “Wait, which sister?”
“Y/N, she’s finished with school, so mum let her come down, she’s ecstatic,” Louis smiled and Harry nodded, trying to keep a straight face for the camera.
He had never met you, he’s only heard stories from Louis, and seen pictures that his mum always sent him of all the girls.
He thought you were adorable, who wouldn’t? He wouldn’t call it a crush, he hadn’t even met you. However, there was definitely something about you that drew him near you.
Once you had gotten inside, Karen insisted on going to buy something. The concert was starting in a few minutes, so there weren’t many people at the tables, most already in their seats.
She was beaming, looking at all of the stuff with her son’s face on it, your mother bearing a similar smile. Karen spotted the cardboard cutouts of the boys. And her eyes lit up.
She rushed to buy one, your mother chuckling, but you could tell she was contemplating on buying one herself.
The pair began to walk away, the camera crew following them, but you stayed behind, stepping up to the cashier.
Your mother must’ve noticed you weren’t there, as seconds later she was at your side, rubbing your arm lightly.
“Whatcha buying?” She asked, humming as she moved her hand to your upper back.
You felt yourself flush as you ordered the Harry cutout. Your mother was laughing her arse off, clutching her stomach as she doubled over.
You felt embarrassed, but understood her reaction. Karen turned around to see the commotion and saw the cashier handing you the Harry cutout. She gave a light chuckle and waved you both over.
Your mother pretended to wipe a tear from her cheek, smirking at you, “Aw, my baby’s in love!” She teased and you bit your lip.
“Shut up,” you mumbled weakly.
The camera crew saw the interaction, getting the whole thing on tape. As you passed the camera, you gave it a small, awkward smile, stuffing the Harry under your arm.
The show was amazing, you didn’t expect any less.
The boys were energetic, entertaining the audience as they jumped and ran around the stage, clearly enjoying themselves.
You were placed in the front, along with the other mothers and Robin, Harry’s step-father. During Louis’ solos, you and your mother would cheer the loudest, the others doing the same for their respective child.
Each boy came to wave to all of you, grinning as they sang. Louis just made a funny face at you and your mother, almost missing his cue.
The other boys did similar things, running to wave while they were singing, but Harry hadn’t come over yet, something that was clearly disturbing Anne.
During a brief break in between songs, Harry came to sit on the edge of the stage in front of all of you. The fans surrounding you all were screaming, some laughing when he gave a bashful wave.
He brought the microphone to his mouth, interrupting Liam’s monologue.
“That’s my mummy!” He pointed to Anne, making her giggle as he bounced up and down where he sat. “Hi mummy!” He yelled, giving an over enthusiastic wave, the audience loving every second.
A grin spread across your face, watching the interaction warmed your heart. Anne was loving it, she blew Harry a kiss, and he caught it, pressing it to kiss cheek.
“I love you mum,” he said, seriously. The audience and all the boys on stage letting out a sweet ‘aw’.
“I love you, Hazza!” Anne tried to yell above the audience, her voice being drowned out, but Harry understood her perfectly.
He turned his attention to the rest of you, “Hi everyone!” He waved again, his grin still just as wide. His eyes scanned over each of you, and his met yours. “Y/N? You’re Lou’s sister, right?” He asked and you nodded, trying to ignore your mum poking your arm. “Damn!” He yelled and you felt yourself gaping, Louis standing up quickly.
“Excuse me?” He asked, in mock offense.
Harry realized his mistake, “No, no, no! That came out wrong,” he turned to you, “I didn’t mean any disrespect, I just mean that I imagined you being like,” he held up his hand a few feet off the ground, “this tall based on how Lou described you, and that is certainly not the case,” he affirmed and Louis playfully rolled his eyes.
“Sure,” he dragged it out, “I’m sure that’s what you meant,” he joked, and Harry stood, brushing off his bum.
“Anyways! On with the show!”
A few months later, the boys sat huddled around a table in the film director’s conference room.
The film was finally completed, and the boys were invited to watch it and suggest changes. The boys were a bit into the film now, mostly taking the piss out of it and teasing each other.
Then came the footage from Madison Square Garden.
The boys stayed silent the whole time that the mothers were speaking, being quiet for the first time since the film started.
After showing the mothers’ thoughts on them performing at MSG, it cut to the interviews backstage. It was mostly just the boys’ preparation. Harry and Louis’ interview showed up, and the teasing started right up again.
“Louis, did you see the way his face lit up when you mentioned Y/N?” Liam said through laughter, Zayn and Niall laughing with him.
Harry was glaring at the boys, trying to avoid looking at Louis, a furious blush coating his cheeks. Louis was trying to hide his smile, looking at Harry out of the corner of his eye.
Truth was, he didn’t mind at all. Sure, it was a little weird, but he knew Harry, and Louis knew about your little crush on him, your mum had told him about it and had even sent pictures of the Harry cutout, now set up in your room. He would rather you date Harry than some random kid from Doncaster. You and Harry would work well together, he may even dare to say you were perfect for each other. There was only one problem; you hadn’t met.
The boys had finally calmed down and the rest of the film continued. While Liam and Niall were talking about the time they had to be smuggled through a bread van, Louis took his chance. He leaned over, catching Harry’s attention, “Don’t listen to them, if I’m being honest with you, I wouldn’t mind if you dated my sister,” he whispered, Harry immediately getting flustered.
“I, what? I don’t know what you’re talking about, you’re mad,” Harry mumbled and Louis chuckled, patting Harry’s knee.
“It’s alright lad, no need to explain yourself.”
The topic wasn’t brought up again until the movie came out.
Well, it technically hadn’t come out yet. Each boy was allowed to stream it at their home, they were sent digital copies. Louis had invited you over to watch it a week before it officially came out, and of course you had said yes.
You decided to spend the week with him, needing a break from managing the house with your mother. You had felt guilty, seeing as it was now her alone, Mark had left early on in your brother’s departure. Although, Dan, her new fiancé, was there to help out a bit.
You pulled up outside his apartment building, parking and grabbing your bag from the passenger’s seat. You made your way into the apartment, keeping your head down as you knocked on the door.
Louis opened it, throwing his arms open with a large grin on his face. You set your bag down, giggling as you wrapped your arms around him, squeezing him tightly.
“I missed you,” you mumbled into his chest.
“I missed you too,” he said, swaying with you in the doorway for a moment. He pulled away, a shit-eating grin on his face. “I hope you don’t mind, but I invited someone else over too!”
“I don’t mind,” you said, squinting at your brother, why was he being so cheeky about it?
“Great! Alright, come on in! Harry’s on the couch, and before we watch the film, we’re gonna watch interviews!” He ushered you inside, grabbing your bag.
You stopped once you had entered the house, turning back to Louis, “Hold, go back there for a second, did you say Harry’s here?” You asked, quickly panicking.
You were answered by a voice behind you, “Louis, is your guest…” Harry trailed off as you turned around. He gaped for a moment, clearing his throat quickly, “Oh, uhm, hi Y/N, Louis didn’t say you were coming,” his eyes left you to quickly glance at Louis.
“Hi,” you mumbled, biting the inside of your cheek.
It was quiet for a few moments, and Louis interjected, “Ready to watch the interviews?” He asked, not even waiting for an answer as he dragged both of you to the living room.
He sat down on the couch, pulling you and Harry on either side of him. “They sent me a weird version they made that has the interviews first, and the movie immediately after,” he leaned over and picked up a napkin he had set on the table.
On it were two times stamps, one that was pretty early on, and one that was presumably later in the film. He scrolled on the TV for a moment, getting the setting right and pressing start once the DVD was processed.
He began to fast forward through most of the interviews, you were a bit confused when he came to a stop in the middle of the interviews. You were about to say something, but he turned the volume all the way up, pressing play.
“If you had to set up your sister with one of the band, and you could trust them, who would it be?” The interviewer asked, leaning forwards as she spoke.
Liam and Zayn erupted, “None, none of them!” They both chided, clear looks of disgust on their face.
Louis sat contemplating for a moment, both Liam and Zayn looking at him with knowing smiles, “I have an ideal pair in mind, I’m not going to verify who, the lads already know who it is, my sister doesn’t, but I’ve got a plan,” he smirked, nodding enthusiastically.
The Louis next to you looked at his napkin again, fast forwarding it again, this time you were sat for a little bit longer, the tension in the room growing thicker. Both you and Harry had a feeling that he was talking about you guys, but neither of you dared say anything.
He unpaused it again, this time it was the actual film, iit showed you and your mum, along with Karen, it was the MSG footage.
You began panicking, trying to grab the remote from Louis, “Louis, Louis, turn it off, turn it off!” You yelled as you tackled him, reaching for the remote he was holding high.
He ducked to his side, quickly stuffing the remote down his trousers as the film continued playing. He gave you a triumphant smirk, but you narrowed your eyes, “don’t think I won’t look in there,” you threatened, and he shot up, running to the washroom, giggling the whole way.
You let out a grunt of defeat, collapsing on the couch and shrinking in on yourself, hiding your face in your hands. “Oh god, ‘m so so sorry Harry,” you grumbled, sinking further into the couch.
Harry let out a low chuckle, “It’s alright, love. I’ve already seen the movie,” he admitted and you let out an exasperated sigh.
“Shit,” you mumbled.
“Hey, nothing to be embarrassed about,” he assured, you felt him put his hand on your knee, making you flush even further. “In fact, if the roles were reversed, I probably would’ve bought a cutout of you too,” he began rubbing a small circle on your knee.
You removed your hands from your face at his confession, looking at him in confusion, “Wait, really?”
“Of course! When we first got together as a band, you called Louis, and he stepped outside for a minute to talk to you, when he got back, he had the biggest smile on his face. At first we thought that it was a girl he’d been talking to, but then he told us it was his sister, and I just had to know more about the girl who made him smile that big. He began talking about you, and about your other family of course, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how he described you, then he showed me pictures, and you just blew me away, as cheeky as it sounds,” he laughed lightly, your eyes traced his profile, “then I saw you at MSG, and I was even more shocked, you were much more mature than the last picture Louis had showed us. I couldn’t stop thinking about the girl who smiled brighter than sun, the one who loved her family more than anything, the one who could make anyone laugh just by speaking, and I hadn’t even met you! But now I’ve actually met you, and even seeing you wrestled with Louis earlier, it confirmed everything I already thought.” He paused, his eyes opening quickly, “I-Uhm, if you don’t like any of that, you can just ignore all of it.”
You sat in disbelief, joy overwhelming you, “Wait, so you like me?”
“I mean, yeah, if that whole speech wasn’t convincing enough, I can show you my diary,” he offered, and you put a finger to his lips.
“As tempting as that is, I really want to kiss you right now, is that alright?” You asked, scooting closer to him on the couch.
“Yeah, that would be amazing,” he giggled, placing his hand on your cheek as your lips met.
It was awkward at first, you were both angled on the couch, neither position comfortable. You shifted closer, slowly crawling onto his lap, quickly pulling away to make sure it was okay with him. When he gave you a subtle nod, you connected your lips again, his sweet, oddly sugary, plush lips. You ran your fingers through his curls, quickly tangling them. He put his hands on your waist, pulling you closer to him as you continued to kiss. It was heavenly, everything you had ever dreamed of. Of course, your paradise had to be interrupted by something.
“Oi Oi!” Louis yelled from the hallway, “I get you like each other and all, but this is my couch, come on lads!” He complained, causing you to hurry off of Harry’s lap, taking a seat beside him. He playfully scoffed, pointing a finger at you, “Now, I’m going to get some food from the kitchen, no snogging while I’m gone!” He demanded as he walked out of the room.
You and Harry giggle to yourself, he turned to you, a playful smile adorning his face, “y’know, now that I’m dating a Tomlinson, maybe the Larries will finally back off,” he joked, earning a chuckle from you.
“Oh darling, you’re forgetting one thing,” you chided, he turned to you, obviously confused. “I’m the biggest Larrie of them all,” you teased.
“Oh shut it!” Both he and Louis yelled.
