can i just say bpd is more than a favorite person? i understand that part as ive experienced it but thats not all there is

as someone who doesnt currently have a "fp" i hate that thats all bpd tumblr is. js shit about your feelings towards other people, i understand but oh my god i wish there was more. it feels like romanticism of the mental illness that people are gifted the option of assisted su!c!de for. and thats not fucking right.

im sorry if this sounds rude or anything but it just makes me feel really alone in my illness and thats a shitty feeling to have, esp as someone who has bpd.

Socially unacceptable disabled and mentally ill people: I love you. You're being really brave. You in fact have a right to be like this, and you deserve to have people who understand you the way you are. I'm sorry you have to perform social acceptability rituals in order to not have the people around you ostracize and punish you. You deserve better. No matter how socially unacceptable, rude, "taking up space" or an "inconvenience" you are. I'm sorry everyone always sees you and your symptoms as obstacles to overcome or bothers that you need to take care of for them.

sirius who cannot see between the contrasts, who cannot see, perhaps doesn’t even want to see the shades of grey. the world for him, from childhood hour on, has always been defined by contrasts of black and white. and everyone around him knows this;

and really, if sirius was honest, nothing could ever come close to the horrors of being hated by him.

this is exactly why it's so important to educate. this is why we "police" language and tell you what words to use instead. because this is how you actively perpetuate stigmas and demonise a whole group of people. and this is how it keeps spreading because within three days this first comment has received 25 likes, which may not seem like much now, but those 25 people spread this "knowledge" to 25 other people and so on and so forth.

again: narcissists are people with narcissistic personality disorder. a cluster B PD that is usually developed through abuse trauma (and genetic predispositon). gaslighting is a term used for the act of knowingly making somebody doubt themselves and their sanity (how they perceive events, their memories, etc.). being self-absorbed and not taking responsibility for certain behaviours is something every person is capable of. it's not "narcissistic abuse". it's emotional abuse. every person is capable of it.

stop calling everybody a narcissist because they've done something like this. it's not right. it's just another term y'all picked up on the internet without ever doing research about what it means or where it really comes from. and of course it's just another way for y'all to demonise people and stigmatise mental disorders you think make somebody abusive and unworthy of being part of disability and mental health activism...

Okay I'm rewatching Daredevil s3 and there's a question I've been wanting to ask. Is Poindexter an accurate representation of Borderline Personality Disorder?

Because I do not have BPD but I know a fair amount about it based on what I've heard from people online and their experiences as well as their reasonings for headcanoning characters such as Jinx from Arcane or Blitzo from Helluva Boss as having BPD. And Dex doesn't seem to portray any real signs of having BPD but again I can't be sure.

Like what's really getting me is the scene with kid Dex and his therapist. Dex admits that killing his coach wasn't an accident and that he feels no guilt/remorse for what he's done. And immediately after he says this his therapist writes down on her clipboard, "BPD with psychopathic tendencies". Obviously no hate to those who struggle with/have low empathy, but I don't think that's a defining indicator/trait of BPD?

Also, his therapist talks to him about how he's "surrounded by all of this emptiness". I know emptiness is a part of BPD but I thought that was regarding self identity and how they see themselves as a person. But in this scene they're talking about it in regards to Dex's struggles with empathy and emotions.

To me, the way Dex behaves seems more aligned with Antisocial Personality Disorder. But again I'm not an expert on this shit and that's why I'm asking.

Someone mentioned it'd made sense if Basil had boarderline personality disorder, and as my BFF has BPD, I immedietely got obsessed with this idea lol.
