I just noticed that some (most?) senti defender mostly think people who hate the senti BS hate the plot because Adrien isn't ...human? Because I saw them comparing Adrien with Nobody, Grimwalker (I think, from Owl House?) and I saw them even quoting Mew Two about the circumstances of one birth doesn't matter and it just so wild for me because they seems to be missing the most important point about a sentimonster which is the fucking remote control!
ADrien being a magical being is the least of the problem here, the one hit kill isn't even close to being as being problematic as the fact that SENTIMONSTER IS A BEING WITH REMOTE CONTROL AND ANYONE WHO HAVE IT CAN FREELY CONTROL THEM AS THEY WISH! Them renamed it to Sentihuman doesn't even erase the fact that they still aren't human and still a magical being with a fucking remote control!!
"But it's good for angst for bodily autonomy!" I saw some people said it. And here I thought angst supposed to have a happy ending to balance it, but what kind of happy ending that a sentimonster can have, who's life is so ephemeral? Who's agency can be overwritten by anyone anytime? Unless Adrien can be like a Pinokio then sure... But at this point I don't think Adrien as sentimonster even matter in Marinette's eyes, until she feels the need to control him for whatever bulshit excuses and justification that she can muster that is. Ephemeral exist as a case of point after all.
---
The argument that people against the “Sentipeople” concept just don’t like nonhuman characters has been around since the start. It’s a purposeful way of misreading the very first argument for why it was a bad idea: “it would dehumanize Adrien.” The people in support of such a storyline decided that “dehumanize” means literally making him not human, and that was inherently bad, when, all along, “dehumanize” means “deprive of human qualities, personality and dignity” (Merriam-Webster). It’s not the act of making a fictional character not human, it’s the act of depicting a human being as someone undeserving of similar dignity and consideration as what are considered as normal people. Dehumanization can be, for example, ignoring the struggles and traumas of real people, in favor of focusing on a more favored group of people. Miraculous, by turning Adrien into a Sentimonster, turns the focus from his reactions to how he’s being victimized by his parents to why his parents decided to have a Sentimonster kid. And we find out they were unable to have a child, so tragic :’(
This approach to “Sentipeople” was foreseen, by several people, but the fandom supportive of the idea ignored all these explanations and just focused on the word “dehumanize”, because it was the easiest to misinterpret to serve their narrative, which was that the people opposed to the concept are the ones not treating Adrien as human, because they’re the ones saying turning an abuse victim into a literal monster makes him less sympathetic! The writers never said that so there’s no way that could be a real thing that could happen! The idea of “SentiAdrien has very ableist, abuse-enabling connotations” being a statement of fact is inconceivable.
Never mind how the canon has made it blatantly clear that the “Sentipeople” concept will never, ever be tackled from the perspective of our most prominent example of one. The arc with Adrien’s supervillain dad finally gets wrapped up and he doesn’t just sit it out, he’s left oblivious of anything that happened. It’s obvious Adrien being a Sentimonster isn’t actually relevant to Adrien. It was there because the writers desperately wanted more attention and to give Emilie a “sympathetic” reason to use Miraculous with the superpower of creating beings lesser to humans that exist to serve a single purpose and then die, the human equivalent of tissue paper. The most fucked up superpower ever to create the most nightmarish scenario to be born into, and it’s used to excuse why Adrien’s obviously abusive upbringing wasn’t actually his parents’ fault; Adrien was just born different and had to be kept away from normal people for his own good because he’s just so susceptible as a Sentimonster.
The fandom is once again doing the heavy lifting for this show’s writers by creating these imaginary versions of the show where a Sentipeople story totally gets told from Adrien’s perspective and respects Adrien’s agency and humanity, when the canon gives us the opposite. Similarly, the canon is still calling them “Sentimonsters” with the fandom insisting terms like “Sentipeople” and “Sentihumans” be used instead, or else it’s the fans disrespecting Adrien’s humanity.
The fandom just loves to blame critical fans for the show’s failings. The show treats Adrien like the Pearls in Steven Universe, but, if we point it out, we’re the ones stripping away Adrien’s humanity and reducing him into an object to be owned. The show writers did it first, we’re just pointing it out.
Other people are scared Marinette will go through Adrien's phone in the future of the show (again). I'm scared Adrien will give Marinette his Amok as a token of his love, giving her half of his literal being, possibly without knowing he's doing so, and Marinette will have to accept or she'll hurt his feelings by refusing to accept the symbol of his feelings for her, and the fandom will cheer over how romantic it is.

I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ON LUKA AS A CHARACTER AFTER WISHMAKER AND I’M GONNA DUMP THEM HERE
Luka is such a cool character and he has been a rock for marinette when things got rough for her, but beyond just being a really good and supportive friend I’ve gotta say that if anyone was going to find out both ladybug and chat noir’s identities, luka was definitely the best person for the job. like Marinette better be happy she was basically stuck giving that boy the miraculous of the snake because he might actually be the only one who can handle that level of responsibility.
First of all, he’s ridiculously level-headed until it’s his friends or family who are threatened. I don’t think he’d be akumatized unless someone came directly after his family or friends instead of him- the dude’s ridiculously patient and even-keeled, and as we know from Silencer, a gentle soul. Still though, this guy handles the information of who ladybug and chat noir are ridiculously well.
Like ignoring the weight of the responsibility for a second, just look at how hard it’s got to be to keep his mouth shut on a frustration level- he’s got so much on his plate already and now he’s got to watch these two knuckleheads be the level of oblivious and awkward that they are as civilians knowing full well how close they are as superheroes and how in love both of them are with each other (without knowing it) with a patient smile? The frustration we feel from watching the love square? This boy is living it.
Plus we know from Truth just how important that honesty is to Luka- he values it so so highly and holds himself to such a high standard, but when ladybug asks him point blank to his face whether or not he found out their identities, he lies without hesitation. He literally says that they were never hit (side note: why would he have used second chance then? idk ladybug didn’t ask so she probably assumed something else went wrong or they got stuck since he did seem to let her know that they had used multiple chances so whatever).
He lied to this girl who he cares about so much and compromised his own principles so soon after them being emphasized in Truth without questioning it because he
1. obviously cares about marinette/ladybug and chat noir/adrien and wants to protect them but also
2. because he understands that the responsibility that has been given to him as Viperion has to come before his own principles for the greater good.
He takes his hero-ing seriously, which is what you need from someone who’s going to be given the ability to play with time and potentially be your last resort if everything else fails. He’s known this, but I think after having that responsibility really play out in this episode at the expense of his own principles, he probably understands Marinette and the pressure she was facing and the weight that comes with being a miraculous holder even better than before. He probably went home and rethought everything, especially what happened in Truth with Marinette.
And speaking of the RESPONSIBILITY? All that while trying to not get akumatized and not hint EVEN TO LADYBUG/MARINETTE HERSELF (his friend and the guardian who trusted him with that miraculous) that he knows her identity or chat noir’s? And not hint that they really know each other in real life? And not slip at all even though he hangs out with both of them as civilians all the time?
Like he’s just gonna sit on that information and that responsibility of being the only person in Paris who knows both of their identities and not physically implode from the stress or tell anyone? Knowing that if anyone finds out he will become Shadow Moth’s number 1 target? But he won’t jeopardize his friends by even letting marinette know that he knows so he can talk to someone about it? Like I know he isn’t getting paid but someone get this boy a raise 😭

Since Supercorp has a lot of similarities to Miraculous, here's them and Esme watching the show. Featuring Kara and Lena wondering how this kids' show is punching them in the gut.
~~~~~
At this point, it is pretty nornal for Kara and Lena to babysit Esme and watch things with her.
"Esme wants us to watch a new show. Apparently she's already seen it. She just wants to show us."
"Oh really? I'll go get a drink first." Said Lena.
Kara nodded. "Alright." She went to the living room. "Hey Esme, what show is this?"
"Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir!" Esme pointed at the screen.
"Yeah? What's it about?" Asked Kara, as she saw the intro, quite catchy.
"That girl, Marinette is a superhero called Ladybug and she's in love with Adrien! But she isn't in love with Chat Noir. But Chat Noir is actually Adrien and he's in love with Ladybug. But Adrien only sees Marinette as a friend." Esme smiles as she finishes explaining.
...
Huh?
Kara feels like she's gonna get a headache. "Wow. That's crazy. But aren't they the same person?"
Esme nods. "But they don't know that because they have to keep their identities secret!"
Well that was a direct hit.
"Oh."
Lena walked into the living room and sat next to Kara.
Esme plays the first episode.
They're a few episodes in season 1 and it was pretty normal (minus the weird bits).
"So it's a square?" Said Lena. "Good to know."
"They are so oblivious." Esme giggled. "They're kinda like you two!"
Kara and Lena choke.
Season 2 was fine.
Season 3 was fine too, well, minus Lila.
"Lila reminds me of Lex in a way." Lena mutters, she's sure Kara heard.
And Oblivio.
"Those two really are destined to be together huh? Imagine forgetting everything but still concluding that you're hopelessly in love with that one specific person." Said Lena.
It's not too far fetched in Kara's opinion, her Russian clone Red Daughter liked Lena too.
When Adrien said "I couldn't hide my identity from the girl I love" Kara had a mini breakdown in her head.
Lena felt like crying when Adrien said "I don't need any memory to know that I love that girl."
"...Did they just forget everything?"
Then, there's the finale.
"So...the world ended because of their reveal?"
"What has Adrien been doing alone before Ladybug arrived?"
"Wait, but they were already dating! Why reverse it?"
"Gabriel Agreste sucks."
Kara was reminded of that time Myx sent her back in time to try to fix her friendship with Lena because of this episode.
Ladybug: I'll fix everything, I promise.
Chat Noir, smiling softly: I know.
Kara and Lena felt that one hit really hard.
And then there was season 4. That's when things started to get real. Kara and Lena relate to both Adrien and Marinette at this point.
"Using a doll house with the laws of physics to hide the Miracle Box? Clever."
"Lena, you like that fact because you'd do something similar."
"Yeah I would."
Kara and Lena flinched when Chat Noir said "I don't like secrets."
They don't know whether to like Felix or not.
"Ladybug and Chat Noir really are stronger together!" Esme exclaimed.
"A lot of people are stronger when they're together." Said Kara. She glances at Lena, who smiles at her.
What. Just. Happened?
Kara felt like she just got punched in the face when Marinette said "Why can't I love who I want to love"
Adrien's confession to Marinette almost made Kara cry.
Lena needed to take 15 breathers during the entirety of Derision.
Ah, Felix is likable. And a mama's boy.
"Adrien isn't human?" Kara put down her plate in shock. "He's a feather?"
"Auntie Kara, you're basically a solar panel." Said Esme.
Lena laughed. "She's not wrong."
"Mean." Kara pouted. "But still, he's a feather! Isn't he allergic to feathers? Marinette's been dating a feather!"
Ah, Adrien moving to London hurt.
As much as they didn't say it, Kara and Lena both know deep down, that this kids' show is unknowingly showing the world what had happened to them, just with a bit more complications.
It ends during season 5.
"They haven't even- oh come on." Kara groaned.
"That entire show hit me like a brick." Said Lena.
Kara nodded. "Me too."
"We really had a rough road, didn't we?" Lena chuckled.
"We did. I'm just glad we're here now." Said Kara, wrapping an arm around the woman she loves most of all.
Lena smiles softly. "So am I."
"There's a movie too! Do you want to watch it?"
"There is a movie?!"
do you have any adrien and dingo interaction fics?
My initial reaction was "no of course not", but I had to double-check. And I've been mulling it over. And...kind of?
The simple answer is no. I don't have any finished (that I can recall - but I also forgot I wrote a kissing booth fic once, so someone call me out if I'm wrong here 😂). There are a few in the Hoard, but those are less direct interaction and more Adrien is mentioned? "Adrien is (Still) a Fkin Idiot" (two connected fics) deal with Dingo reacting to Adrien. The same for "Rich Boys Don't Stink". And after kicking this around with Laurel, she did prompt one that might have direct interaction? I'm still kicking it around, so we'll see. (It's the idea that Adrien can't fathom people not liking him/Marinette having friends he doesn't know who don't like him, so he plans another guys day and invites them over? It doesn't go as he planned, though. I don't think Dingo's even going to accept the invitation.)
But the long answer is no, and here's why.
Dingo does not like Adrien Agreste. He was indifferent to him before. You can't live in Paris and not know who Adrien Agreste is - his face is everywhere, right? He was just that guy in all the ads. He's a rich model, so he's probably not someone Dingo's going to like/get along with. Dingo was indifferent.
Until Luka met Marinette.
Dingo has never met Adrien, or if he has it's been in passing/a few words if that, but Dingo hates the guy. Keep in mind that, for all his reckless chaos, Dingo is fiercely loyal. Because of how he grew up/how he is, Luka was Dingo's first real/lasting friend, and Ding will do anything to protect that friendship. Once he meets her, he's nuts about Marinette, too. He's protective of her because she's his best mate's girl, but also because he genuinely likes Marinette and thinks of her as a friend, too. So as far as Dingo's concerned, no matter what Luka and Marinette tell him, Adrien is just some oblivious asshole that makes his mates sad. Even if they swear he's a great guy, all Dingo sees is how sad he makes Marinette, or how sad Luka gets because Marinette's still hung up on blondie/sad because of his indifference.
So if you're looking for a friendship or some crazy shenanigans between them, it's probably not going to happen. It's not just because I don't like Adrien and don't enjoy writing him anymore. It's honestly because Dingo perceives Adrien as a problem, and he thinks his mates would be happier if Adrien was just out of the picture.
The Most Romantic Thing
I had this saved as a draft for TWO YEARS cause I was away from tumblr and forgot about it, so here I am finally posting it. Enjoy this little drabble based on a true story. >:3
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
The gentle rumble of the motor dominated Marinette’s hearing, drowning out the soft noise of the radio. Her head rested lazily against the car window, shadows and light from the street lamps dancing rhythmically across her vision as they moved through the streets. It was insanely early in the morning, well past any decent hour for sleep. Despite the sparkling city lights scattered across the pitch dark sky, the crowds of people had long ago waned thin, too late—or early—for even the night life party-goers to be wandering about.
It had been, simply put, an exhausting evening. The quiet of the car felt surreal, but only because of the lingering buzzing in her head; a remnant of idle conversations and constant background chatter from the lavish party they had previously attended. Not that she hadn’t enjoyed mingling with the upper crust of Paris fashion, but at some point her limit had been reached, and Marinette just wanted to have some alone time with her own pillow in her own bed.
With the click of the radio, the soft music immediately died, and Marinette’s gaze flicked over out of curiosity, watching while Adrien moved his arm back to the steering wheel. His eyes were glued to the roads as he drove the car through the vacant streets. His set expression looked so serious, as if he were fighting the pull of sleep as well. Marinette might have offered to take over if she wasn’t so exhausted herself, unable to help the yawn that escaped her as she pulled her shawl tighter around her shoulders and settled back against the window.
They drove in the silence a short while longer, Marinette’s heavy eyelids slowly closing over her vision, when Adrien eventually turned down a new street, one that she knew wouldn’t soon lead back to either of their homes. Carefully pulling the car over to where he could safely park on the side of the road, the vehicle came to a rest when he shut off the engine. Off to their left, the Seine sparkled serenely, their view somehow unobstructed, it’s glassy surface reflecting the gentle light of a brilliant moon.
Marinette blinked in confusion, looking out at the street before turning back to Adrien. “Why are we stopped?” she asked softly, her heartbeat stuttering in a slight panic, wondering if he’d noticed something that she hadn’t. “Is something wrong?”
Adrien leaned back in the driver’s seat and grunted, almost as if in pain, and dragged a hand slowly down his face. “I can’t stand it anymore.”
“Wh—” Marinette hardly had time to form her question before he turned a heavy gaze her way.
“I need to kiss you.”
Oh. Marinette’s brain took a second to register that, but Adrien was already leaning over the center console, catching her only slightly off-guard as he pressed his lips gently upon hers. Though unprepared, Marinette quickly and unabashedly melted against him, all thoughts of sleep completely forgotten.
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Afterword: Okay, so about the true story part: I love any stories to do with my parents in their teen years, because they were both complete dorks and I swear, their life was like a romance/drama with love triangles and the whole she-bang—but real life, obvs. For example: my mom had a huge crush on on my dad, and my dad’s best friend(who had a crush on my mom), convinced my dad to bring a DATE to my mom’s BIRTHDAY PARTY because he was completely oblivious. You know, THAT SORTA TEEN STUFF. So anyways, my mother told me the most romantic thing my father ever did. It’s super short, but I absolutely love it the most, so I turned it into the above Adrinette drabble. Hope you enjoyed the FLUFF!!!
On another funny note, please keep in mind that this is the same man who gifted my mom her own refurbished(nicer diamonds/band) engagement ring over 30 years later in a Taco Bell because when he asked her where she wanted to eat(an unspoken: regardless of cost, especially someplace fancy), that was her answer, because she was craving it, failing to tell her it would be for their anniversary dinner. Told you they’re both absolute dorks.
I'm Literally Right Here
Miraculous Ladybug | 2018 | 951 | Ao3
Alya slipped up, but it led to a rather painful conversation between our oblivious superheroes. And then a story gets told.
“Crap!”
“Rena why-” A flash lit up the area the four superheroes had taken cover in, leaving a very-civilian Alya Cesaire standing in the center.
“Crap. I should’ve seen that coming and found you separate cover. Sorry.” Ladybug winced. “Trixx, what do you eat?”
“I’m not in the mood for anything particular. Tikki’s snacks always look good though.”
“Right. I’m gonna sneak out and see what I can find. Carapace, Chat, stay here and keep an eye on her, okay?”
“I’m not a kid Ladybug! I-”
“I know you can help without an active Miraculous, but right now, we need to rest and recoup. Stay. ” Ladybug yanked her Yo-yo and flew up and out of sight.
Carapace slumped down against a wall, pulling his hands over his face. “Alya, I swear, if you climb up that fire escape-” Carapace didn’t finish, deciding to just let her know he knew her plan.
“Fine. But like, we are not to speak of this having ever happened, and we are not going to question Ladybug’s decision to give me a Miraculous. Okay? I’ve stopped actively investigating you guys, despite what it the Ladyblog says, and I’ve followed the rules, the entire time. Understood?”
“Good with me,” Carapace replied, pointedly not looking at his girlfriend. “I’d give myself a heart attack if it is brought up again.”
“And if I’m curious?”
“Chat Noir I swear if you don’t stop pestering her,” Carapace threatened.
“No, no, Carapace it’s fine. I guess with how many questions I would have if like, Ladybug ended up being Mylene or something, it should be allowed. But if I don’t like the question I won’t answer, okay?”
“Deal.”
“Okay. Number one; Why do you think LB chose you first? I mean, you’re awesome and all, but as the person behind the Ladyblog, it’s a big risk. What did you do to convince her you were trustworthy?”
“I wish I knew! I wonder about it all the time, but I can’t come up with anything! Maybe I passed a secret test?”
“What if she knows you in real life?”
“Nope. No way. I’d know if she did.”
“So secret test? I dunno. Ladybug and I had to pass one, but that was almost half a day before we were actually needed. I don’t think she’d have time to test you in half an hour.”
Alya stopped to think. “Maybe it’s because of how often I’m involved in Akuma attacks? I mean, I try to be helpful nowadays.”
“Maybe. I still think she knows you as a civilian and trusts you because of that.”
“Fine. Let’s say for a moment Ladybug is, who in my life would she be?”
Carapace raised his head to look at the two superhero fanatics as they gasped. Why-
“Nino!”
Carapace slammed his head back into the wall. Why? Why? Whyyyyyyy? Why him of all people? Why? “Dudes! What even?”
“It makes sense though Carapace! Nino knows be better than anyone other than Marinette! And obviously she’s not Ladybug, and Nino is like super chill and can work with anyone but Mnsr. Agreste and Chloe.”
Laughter started up above them, and all three watched as Ladybug slipped off the roof, laughing her head off. “Did you actually just say what I think you did?”
“Yes we did, Nino.”
Ladybug tossed something at Alya, before dropping to the ground laughing. “Nino? Nino? Oh my gosh!” She moved over to sit beside Carapace, obviously enjoying his pain and the other two’s cluelessness.
“Guys! Nino’s a Dude! Ladybug’s not!”
“Genderfluid is thing.”
“Based on whether or not a Miraculous is active?”
“Probably not. Darn it! Wait, LB! You’re here now! Why’d you pick me as Rena Rouge?”
Ladybug choked, grabbing Carapace’s shoulder with a painful vice grip. “What?”
“Ladybug, Dudette, I need my arm to not be dislocated.”
“Sorry Shells.” Ladybug looked between the other two in disbelief. “You want me to tell you why I picked Alya as a superhero?”
“Yes.” They answered in unison.
Ladybug’s demeanor changed in an instant. All humor drained from her face, and she curled in on herself ever-so-slightly.
“Fine. If you really want to know, Alya was my first choice, because she’d been in line for one since Stoneheart.”
“What?” Alya’s voice was scarily low,
“When the butterflies started taking people over, I thought I had doomed Paris. I thought I couldn’t do it anymore, or at all really, and I rejected my Miraculous. I put it back in the box, and decided to find someone else who could probably pull it off better. There were rumors of a new girl standing up against Chloe, and I decided to check it out. I enlisted a couple people to check your opinion on being a superhero, and then I dropped the earrings into your bag when we passed in the halls between classes.
“I thought that was that. You’d make a good hero, and you wouldn’t mess up.”
“Except, I never got the earrings.”
“No, you didn’t. You ran off without your bag, and when I found a panicking Marinette running around, and found you and Chat losing the battle, I stopped thinking. I put them back on, not planning on keeping them, but planning to clean up my mess.
“Then, after the confrontation with Hawkmoth’s head, and Stoneheart, and talking to Chat, I didn’t take them off again. But I still knew, in my bones if not my head, that you were a hero at heart. Even without a Miraculous you were. Of course I went straight to you when I needed backup.”
No one said anything for a moment, and then Alya rushed at Ladybug, and pulled her into a hug. “Thank you.”
Idk if you’re familiar with the video games AI the Somnium Files, but to me Aiba and Mizuki have aro swag. Aiba is a robot character whose personal story revolves around her platonic love for her detective partner. We’ve met another robot character who is explicitly allo, so Aiba’s lack of expressed interest in that stuff isn’t just because she’s non-human. Her real interest is looking at cool bugs. Mizuki is a human, and expresses interest in having a boyfriend, but Aiba says she scares guys away and basically doesn’t even make an effort. There was a moment when it seemed like they might’ve been setting up another character as a love interest for her, but she responded to him in a more platonic way.
I’ve also been thinking about Kim from ML and the possibility of him being aspec. He does get crushes, but it kinda feels like he’s trying hard to wrap his head around his own feelings. Maybe the lack of screentime or even mention of Ondine is making me feel this way, but I feel like they’re not really dating dating, more like close friends who do romantic stuff sometimes. He might be greyromantic/sexual or something in the middle of the spectrum. Cue him realizing by talking about it with his ace and aro besties.
I'm not familiar with those first ones, but I really like the sound of those headcanons!! It's nice when there's a range of robotic and human characters all with a variety of reactions to romance, because to tell the truth I really love aro robot characters! But when there isn't that variety, it sometimes feels like the whole "aros are robotic and unfeeling" stereotype, which, while I totally do love to joke that I am indeed a robot, it kinda hurts when that's all we get. But yeah, those headcanons sound awesome, thank you for sending them to me!! Looking at bugs is an excellent interest tbh, who needs romance when you have cool bugs
And ASPEC KIM, HELL YES HELL YES! I love that so much!! Kim being greyromantic/sexual is a fantastic headcanon, and him talking about it with his aspec friends (since we know that Max is ace and Alix is aro) would be wonderful. Come to think of it, I think a few years ago I made some aro Kim headcanons or something, lemme see if I can dig them out...
Okay I found them!! I'm just gonna copy and paste them here
As any aro knows, in teenagehood it’s common to overcompensate the whole romance thing – I thought crushes were a thing you could pick and choose, so no wonder I thought I’d had a lot!
So Kim picks his “crush” to be on Chloé. After all, she’s super rich and super pretty, right? Why wouldn’t he crush on her? It would make sense!
When she gets him akumatized, it’s less because of the heartbreak and more because of how she humiliated him about it
“If I can’t have love then no one can!!” Dark Cupid was bringing out his salty aro tendencies without even realizing it
(he’s an expert at shooting arrows. the pun practically writes itself.)
Even afterwards, he’s still convinced he’s in love with Chloé, it’s easier than trying to pick someone new to crush on when he already put so much effort into telling himself he really does love her.
He doesn’t notice Ondine highkey crushing on him (for real) because he just doesn’t even think about romance most of the time, though he acts like he does to other people since he has a reputation to keep up
(he doesn’t notice Max’s crush on him either)
After Syren, he decides that he can stop crushing on Chloé and start crushing on Ondine now – after all, she already likes him, right? Wouldn’t it be so perfect?
He’s gone through life being so dumb and oblivious to things that it takes him forever to realize that no, other people don’t choose their crushes, it’s just a thing that happens
And then it starts occurring to him… wait has he never had a crush on anyone at all then??? does that explain why he never understood why Marinette acts so weird around Adrien??? why he suspects he doesn’t feel the same way about Ondine that she does about him??? why people were so surprised that he didn’t bother moving on from Chloé for so long??? why he scoffed that people were just making up the “butterflies in stomach” stuff etc to sound more grown up, and no one believed him???
When he’s turned back into Dark Cupid in Catalyst/Mayura, something just feels weirdly right about being a heartless heartbreaker, that in a weird twisted way he can be as salty about love as he likes and not have to worry about the consequences for a while
Because why should everyone else get to experience this supposedly magical mushy feeling, and not him?
Back as Kim again afterwards, he wonders if his brief time as Dark Cupid is affecting him or whether he was always this “heartless” (read: aromantic), and whether it’s a bad thing or not – like what if crushes are a smart people thing?? what if he’s not smart enough to have one??
His relationship with Ondine shifts into something comfortably platonic after he confides this in one of their secrets games, to his relief
Max is the one who suggests the words “aromantic” and “asexual”. Kim had been wondering about that second one too – as a hot jock, people seemed to expect him to act a certain way, think a certain way, feel a certain way, and he just… didn’t.
He and Alix end up being aroace buddies. In hindsight, he realizes why he found her loud complaints about romance to be oddly relatable.
Aiight, it's my day off, time for in depth screeching.
First of all: YES! Oh my gosh this would be so fun. At least half of that is because miraculous is kinda bad so it's very entertaining to rework, but also because the two stories mesh well.
Like, Marauders is already a story about a friend group with romance drama getting into whacky school hijinks but with magic shenanigans and a more serious spooky overarching big bad that threatens it all. And the fans have already put in the legwork to make a fairly believable cast.
I'm going to putting together my own thoughts as I type here (it's how I work things out), so if I go, "wait a second I changed my mind" a lot, that's why. The rest of this will be cut up and subsectioned to save your dashes. This is gonna be very very long.
Second of all, here's a link to a "brief" summary of Miraculous for my followers who don't know what it is. I tried my best to make it short, but I'm also a chronic rambler. I am so sorry. It's got the basic premise and also all the important characters. Also know that I'm fucking obsessed and I don't recommend it even slightly!
Part 1: What are we changing?
The first question is, how much of the ML worldbuilding are we setting on fire and rebuilding from the ground up? Because we Miraculous fans rework this shit a lot. For simplicity's sake, I want to keep as much the same as is possible, but some of it makes absolutely no sense and will have to be reworked.
So, the butterfly and peacock were still lost by the Master Fu analogue and are being used for villainy. The Ladybug and the Black Cat are still the two most important and powerful miraculous that combined can make The Wish happen and that's who the Butterfly user is after. The hypothetical show would start with everyone's relationships roughly in the same place. I would like to keep most of the miraculous powers the same, with the exception of the peacock. Any meaningful narratives surrounding marauders characters hinges on them having the free will to make the choices that they do, and the senti-babies CANNOT coexist with that. So no senti-kids, but we can keep the coven of evil asshole parents, they're just controlling and abusive instead of dabbling in magical homonculus babies. The peacock will work as it does in the earlier seasons during it's debut, so it can create controllable half-alive creatures with a level of autonomy, but they're not fully sentient and can't be real people.
The only other real difference I can think of is that whoever I make Marinette (probably Remus) will NOT be behaving the same way she does while in love simply because I don't want to write or think about her being a stalker! :)
Part 2: Who's Who and Why?
Sirius Black
The single most clear line between characters for me is Sirius=Adrien/Chat Noir and I did build the rest of my initial cast list around that.
Sirius Black and Adrien Agreste both grew up in controlling and at least kind of abusive households aligned with the villains with a lot of heavy expectations to perform placed on them. Any friends they may have had would have been similarly mired in the unhealthy and abusive worldview. They found a lot of escape and capability for rebellion in their more adventurous and risk-taking personas (Padfoot for Sirius, Chat Noir for Adrien). The influence of their friends allowed them to grow their morals, their personal opinions, and gave them the courage to stand up to and go against the abusive authority figures in their lives who were doing their best to position them as pawns for their evil plans. Particularly, they have one best friend who they're closer to than anybody else that REGULARLY encourages them to spit on their parent's wishes and be regular kids who have fun (James for Sirius, Nino for Adrien). And of course, they're both oblivious when it comes to love and a LOT of people are in love with them.
I think the parallels are almost too clear between them, and thus, I think Adrien HAS to equal Sirius. A fairly significant portion of my initial list kind of stemmed from that: James=Nino because they fulfill the same role in Sirius/Adrien's lives', Remus=Marinette because Wolfstar, Lily=Alya because best friends with Remus/Marinette and girlfriend to James/Nino (also something something about compelling narrative on who you trust), and Felix=Regulus because he's Adrien's/Sirius' asshole family who is more villain aligned than hero aligned for most of the story but eventually corrects their mistakes and does their part to take down the bad guy.
Now. The thing is. Adrien and Chloe are almost dangerously similar. Adrien is like, a couple of coughs away from being Chloe. Both of them are largely shaped by the different natures of their abuse. Chloe also has the "scorned older sibling, beloved younger sibling, but only because the younger sibling behaves and the older sibling doesn't" dynamic that Sirius has with Regulus, and they share a similar issue of having some pretty nasty behaviors when they're first encountered by other protagonists due to their abuse. A redeemed Chloe could be very similar to Sirius. But, I think Adrien's relationships to the rest of the cast map better onto Sirius' relationships than Chloe's do. And again, they are very similar.
What that means for this AU is that the Adrien allegory gets to be kind of a stuck-up asshole! MMMMM that's some good catharsis! He deserves to be a little full of himself. I think Sirius actually shares the most similarities with PV Adrien. . .who was named Felix by the fans. . . who then became an actual character that has very little in common with either version.
And of course, Sirius' aesthetics are 100% Ivan or Luka. But if I made all the 70s characters ONLY match up with their aesthetics, we'd RAPIDLY run out of characters.
With all that said, I still think I like the initial list, but it's obviously not a perfect one-to-one, and the Skittles and the bad guys are an absolute mess, so I'm going to go through each Marauders character one by one and assign them a Miraculous character.
Quick disclaimer from here on out that the only ships I'm considering for this are Jily, Wolfstar, and Rosekiller with Marylene floating as a possibility in the back of my mind. . If somebody would like a reshuffle with different ships in mind, I'll do it on request.
I may also post the first sections here separately because they are good cheat-sheets to how I view all the Maruaders characters.
Lily Evans:
So, let's go through the things I think are most important to Lily's character and see how I would slot her in:
Lily is an academic overachiever who has to struggle with untold amounts of prejudice because of how she was born. She's fairly new to this world of wizards and magic, but that's not stopping her. She generally follows the rules, but she's DEFINITELY not above breaking them for something she sees as a righteous cause. She just won't do it for fun usually.
She absolutely loves her sister, but her sister resents her because Lily is more special, more favored, more talented in ways that neither of them can control. She loves her parents, but they don't understand her fully. She never feels fully at home in either the magical or the muggle worlds because both are important parts of her.
She was very very very close with her dorky best friend, but he slowly grew into a worse and worse person until he finally directed his abuse at her and she broke away from him.
She absolutely despises James Potter for years because of his cruelty, but once he tones it down, she actually realizes she really likes him and is mad about it, but they're cute and in love.
She is close friends with Remus Lupin due to their mutual pettiness and academic interests.
Her best friends are Mary Macdonald and Marlene McKinnon, who are very different from her, but they work really well together anyway. She would do a lot for anybody she's friends with, including break the rules, get into fights, take on too much responsibility helping them out and literally die. Depending on who you are, she's also close with Alice Fortescue/Longbottom and Emmeline Vance, and Dorcas Meadowes is usually in there somewhere.
While she is friendly and kind, she has an explosive temper on her. She is very petty and mean to anyone she thinks is a bad person, and tends to trust her first impressions. She struggles admitting when someone has changed or when she is wrong.
She is an absolute prodigy at potions, which requires an impressive handle on theoretical knowledge and ungodly patience. She's also stated to be very good at charms, which requires a lot of intuition, creativity, and quick wit.
So the way she treats most of her relationships to me reads Alya. She's got Alya's insane drive, but also Alya's tendency for jumping the gun and getting too involved. She's a ride or die friend just like Alya. She puts too much stock in first impressions just like Alya (look at her behaviors with Chloe, Lila, and Marinette). I think Jily and DJWifi have similar vibes in that it took her a while to come around to James, but once she did they were basically inseperable (also really bold go-getter girl and her adoring boyfriend who is also a bold go-getter in his own way). A bit of a mess, but still more emotionally healthy than people like Remus and Sirius, and more competent in love than her useless lesbian friends Marlene and Dorcas.
I will say that her relationship with Severus reads as more Sabrina. Very close childhood friendship that turns sour due to one friend's toxic behaviors and is eventually ended.
Her relationship to her family reads Zoe. Younger sibling beloved by parental figures and older sibling who grows bitter and terrible over this, despite an initially close relationship. Although Zoe's case is a bit more complicated since at least two of her parents are abusive, one of them is absentee, and only one of them likes her and also her sister was a bitch when they met.
And her attitude towards academics and school reads Marinette soooo hard. Wound up about it, smart enough to be class rep/head girl, takes on too much responsibility, but also willing to shirk it for more important things. I think Lily is too confident to be Marinette though. A key feature of Marinette's character is that she does not believe in herself and makes bad decisions because of it. Lily doesn't have that problem. If anything, she's got the opposite where she trusts herself a little too much and will make the bad choice, although I do think they share the chronic overthinking and kind of baffling and difficult to follow creativity.
Especially where I'm leaning towards assigning James to Nino and Remus to Marinette, I think most of her relationships fit best as Alya, and her personality is most reflected by Alya, although I think there are significant shades of Marinette in her. While I can see Lily with the fox miraculous since creating illusions is frequently the work of charms and potions and requires a fair amount of quick thinking and planning, I also think the miraculous she'd work best with no regards to anybody else is The Ladybug. In an AU of an AU perhaps.
James Potter
I'm gonna come out and say it, James is a mom friend. He's an overconfident and egotistical twit, but he LOVES his friends. Boy thinks his friends are the hottest shit on the planet. If he finds out someone hurt his friends, he's pulling out the nine iron. He's constantly thinking about how to buoy his friends up and make them feel happy and loved and included. He LOVES his friends. And he loves taking care of them. He Sirius and Peter became animagi as a way to take care of Remus. He let Sirius live with him. He's constantly checking up on them and making sure they sleep and eat and shit. He is a mom friend. Sometimes to his own detriment, as he'll neglect to take care of himself. He loves hard and loud and endlessly.
He's also an ASSHOLE and I LOVE him for it! James Potter is an absolute BASTARD! He thinks that he and his friends are better than everybody else. He's naturally talented and he KNOWS it! He doesn't have to try and so he doesn't, and he FLAUNTS it. He's a jock and a sore winner. He has a tendency to forget that just because he's having fun doesn't mean everybody is, especially if it's not somebody in his inner circle. He's loud and an attention whore who loves having everyone's eyes on him. He's REALLY mean to people he doesn't like and will go out of his way to be a jerk to them. It takes a lot of soul searching and maturing and growing up and even some tragedy for him to deflate his own head and start acting with a little more empathy and kindness.
He's also jealous. A large part of his rivalry with Snape stems from his jealousy over Lily,
He's kind of entitled too. If he wants something, he believes he should get it, and his reaction to being told "no" tends to be "oh, is that a challenge?"
He's fun personified. Everything he does is usually rooted in sheer joy and the desire to make himself or someone else smile and laugh. If someone is feeling bad, his first instinct is going to be "do something to make them laugh." Life is a game to James Potter and he finds some element of joy in just about everything he does.
He's an adrenaline junkie. He gets a thrill from breaking the rules. He sees them as a challenge to his intelligence and skill, and the risk of getting caught is half the fun. He delights in doing dangerous things and is willing to take a lot of VERY big risks if he thinks it'll be entertaining. He's also got ADHD because I said so.
All this said, he's also a very moral person (kind of surprisingly given the previous paragraphs). He's got a STRONG sense of right and wrong on him for broadstrokes, and while that moral compass does have to be readjusted to include "don't randomly hex others just because," he's always had a strong sense of justice and broadstrokes kindness.
He's also got a big fat crush on a girl who can't stand him, and his love for her is a notable part of what allows him to change his behaviors.
His parents adore and spoil him, and the feeling is mutual. Their love gave him a lot of confidence in himself and taught him how to care about other people.
Due to the relationship web, the narrative role he fulfills, and the mom friend vibes, I'm inclined to assign him to Nino's role. But honestly, if we're looking at his "Jerk Jock who'll do anything for a laugh, but mellows out" personality, the character he most vibes with is Kim. Like, that is Kim's personality. Kim is an idiot and doesn't carry James' main character or ADHD energy, but they are otherwise the same person. Again, I'm not taking that route for other purposes, but this is going to be an AU where Nino and Kim basically personality swap but still fulfill their original narrative functions of "mom friend, good boyfriend, gets their bestie to rebel against their parents and helps out in fight against bad guy" and "asshole who's kinda just in the background but slowly turns from mildly antagonistic to a bro."
I think he also fits with the turtle miraculous so well because he is a protector. Some of his only lines we get in canon are him putting himself between danger and those he loves, using himself as a shield.
Remus Lupin
Hoo boy, is he gonna be a hard nut to crack. Obligatory notice that I only read half of ATYD, didn't like it, and will not be basing my Remus off of anything from there. Let's give this a go.
Remus is a person absolutely mired in self-loathing. He has been raised (correctly) believing that he is dangerous to other people and has (incorrectly) extrapolated that it means he shouldn't be around them ever and doesn't deserve connection or affection. He has been dealing with an incredibly painful and scary chronic illness since he was a very small child that puts a lot of strain and real danger on what are otherwise very loving parents trying their best.
Due to his condition, he has been forced to grow up in isolation and has never had real friends. He's spent most of his life believing that he will never get to be a full person. He'll never get to make friends or fall in love or go to school or have a job or really learn magic or even just peacefully exist in either the muggle or magical worlds because anyone who gets to close too close to him will inevitably 1) be in incredible danger and 2) inevitably come to loath and be disgusted with him.
Because of his lack of self-esteem, Remus tends to self sabotage and make bad decisions in all of his relationships. He's a man on the run from his problems constantly, all throughout canon. Now. I am a delusional sappy bitch who very much prefers to keep my Harry Potter interest and my Marauders interest firmly separated. Because then I can pretend that all the Marauders lived and happily raised Harry and Peter never betrayed anyone and the death eaters that we hyperfixated on and gave real character saw the error of their ways and got better. In my pretty sparkly delusions, Remus' friends survived and he managed to get over his myriad issues with their help and also soooo much therapy. But canon actually took away all of his existing support network and made him WORSE, so we might come back to that.
Having friends does a lot to bring Remus out of his shell, curb some of his most destructive behaviors, make him less afraid of and disgusted by himself, and allow him to grow a personality outside the context of the werewolf.
Remus is a very good student. Part of it is that fear is a powerful motivator. If he doesn't do absolutely perfect in school, then there is no way he will ever be able to have a life afterwards because it's not like he's getting in on his other merits. But part of it is that he does genuinely like learning and reading and academics. Like Lily, he feels a need to prove himself through his schoolwork, but unlike Lily it's less that it's an exciting challenge and more that he does just have a desire for knowledge. I headcanon that where Lily, Sirius, and James are all practical badasses, Remus is the one who knows the theory best. He'll spend hours just reading his textbooks by the fire to wind down, and is 100% the reason James, Sirius, and Peter pass their essays. He is the Hermoine to their Harry's and Ron's.
Remus is absolutely terrified of getting in trouble, but does actually enjoy breaking the rules. He likes the plotting aspect involved and he likes how much fun his friends have while doing it, and he, like anyone, gets a thrill from doing something he's not supposed to. I think that if he wasn't petrified of getting expelled but he also hadn't befriended James and Sirius and was left to his own devices, he would be a LOT like Lily. But unlike her, he would still break rules for fun, they would just be little subtle rules. Wandering out to snog his SO in the middle of the night. Using his prefect badge to get out of curfew. Reading books from the restricted section that he's not supposed to have. That sort of thing. I don't think he'd be a prankster at all. That facet of him was something that he only discovered because of James and Sirius.
Remus is caustic and sarcastic and petty and mean. Not outwardly though. He is PEAK "don't fuck with the quiet kid' energy. If you sat and people-watched with him, he would be constantly judging everyone and insulting them sooooo hard. He has a lot of witty, dry, biting one-liners that everybody else just has to double-take at because he's usually so polite.
He's fucking tired all the time. Chronic illnesses, constant self-loathing, and perpetual worry that every little action you take will suddenly cause people to hate you and turn on you does that to you. Being friends with people who have such big personalities also does that to you.
He is constantly baffled that he has friends. Maybe I'm projecting just a little, but he thinks all his friends are cooler than him. Not in a hero worship way, and much more in a "I suck so bad why on earth would you stick around me" way. He cares a lot about them and will do a lot for them, but a lot of it is motivated out of fear of losing them.
I'm basic basic wolfstar trash. He is soooo in love with his best friend Sirius Black because how could he not be? That's the hottest guy on campus and also the guy he spends all his time around. These bitches gay for each other is what I'm trying to say.
When I assigned the initial list, I mostly put Remus as Marinette for wolfstar reasons, but I do think I have properly convinced myself here. He is Marinette. Similar struggles with lack of confidence that cause them to be overly paranoid and make really bad decisions. Similarly rule-followers until they aren't. Similarly talented and intelligent individuals who constantly sell themselves short. Terrified of attracting the wrong kind of attention, constantly tired from the secret keeping and staying up all night, takes on too much responsibility to help their friends rooted in deep deep care and also the belief that their time isn't worth all that much and can be given out like coughdrops. Something something wolfstar, something something pals with the Alya analog.
The only thing they don't really have going for them is that she isn't really as dry and done with everyone's nonsense as Remus and he does not have her obvious ADHD and general high-strung-ness. I will also add that Marinette is less self-loathing and more lack of confidence. Remus is plenty confident in his abilities, it's his immutable self that he thinks is the problem. Marinette does actually like and trust herself, she just doubts her capabilities fairly frequently. This difference also extends to how they treat their friends as Marinette gets controlling and tries to do everything herself, while Remus tends to default to whatever other people want.
But there also really isn't another character that I think fits him better. I think the Ladybug is decently appropriate for Remus, but he doesn't quite have enough chaotic-lead-with-your-heart energy to make it work. If I didn't think the black cat was so appropriate for Sirius, I think I could give it to Remus, but I think the one that embodies him best is actually the Horse. Because Remus is always running away, one breath from bailing. The Horse would let him literally disappear if he needed to. I also think his role in canon of being a not-actually-all-knowing authority figure who isn't involved enough and is somehow still too involved in the kids' lives is similar to Bunnyx's role. And Bunnyx could also run away by getting lost in time. So Rabbit could fit too.
Oh, and wolfstar is exactly the kind of overdramatic emotionally fraught ship that would have a lovesquare. Anyway, moving on.
Peter Pettigrew
Boy howdy hey, we have another hard one! Peter. Peter my son, my child, my problematic second fav! I am a Peter Pettigrew apologist and it's about to SHOW! Before we get into this, I'm gonna have to again specify that this Marauders Peter, not HP Peter (although I'm an apologist for him too), which means he was actually, like, a part of the group that James and Sirius liked and didn't just keep around.
First and foremost, Peter HERO WORSHIPS his friends. AND HE SHOULD! What do you think the rest of us are out here doing? I know I said James thinks his friends are hot shit, but Peter would personally torture someone if his friends asked him to. AND HE DOES! Several times! I think he has a lot of trouble remembering he's a person who exists outside the context of his friends. He can get too caught up in following them and forgets to "honor himself" if you will. Basically, he's a social chameleon. He'll become whatever he needs to be most attractive to the people he follows. It's one of his survival traits. I think James may have accidentally encouraged this when they were younger, but recognized this issue and did his best to curb it as they got older. In canon at least, it didn't work. :(
Speaking of which, above all else, Peter is a survivor. It's what the rat means. When the chips are down, Peter will always make the choice that means he gets to live. Which means his morality only goes as far as his survival. There is not a thing in this world that Peter would die for. It's simply not in his nature. He's afraid of death. Not in the way Voldemort is. He'll let it come for him when he's old and it's natural. But he is afraid of a violent, scary, and premature death. You know. Just the looming existential threat that hangs over the entire series and also demonstrably a thing lots of real people struggle with.
I do believe Peter has a moral code though. He didn't join Voldemort because he thought less of muggle-borns or believed in wizard superiority or wanted the Statue of Secrecy abolished. It was a decision motivated by pure survival. He wasn't willing to die for his beliefs. He is not the kind of person who buys into "give me liberty or give me death." (excuse me for a second while I'm being very American). I think Peter's moral code outside of his survivor aspect sounds something a lot like "can't we just make it so everyone can be safe and happy?" Peter's ultimate value is safety. He wants everyone to be safe, which is why he absolutely falls apart in the face of the Wizarding War because no matter what he does, nobody will be safe.
Peter, while lacking the natural magic and academic talent his friends have, is still intelligent in his own way. He may not have the raw force of personality that James and Sirius have, but I think Peter is the real people person of the group. If you set him loose at a party, pointed at someone he'd never met before, and gave him, like, one five minute conversation, he'd be able to pull an uncomfortable amount of information from it without being suspicious. Who do they care about, what do they care about, what are they afraid of, what can he use against them, what can he use to make them like him? He just has a real sense for how people tick and intiuitvely understands them. It's one of his more Slytherin traits, and it makes him an EXCELLENT co-conspirator.
I also think he's intelligent in his ability to think forward and plan for the future. He demonstrates that ability all throughout canon in the way he seems to have a backup plan for a backup plan for a backup plan, and plans that last for more than a decade. He's the go to man for a long con or for thinking about the future.
Peter has no shame. He ain't to proud for anything and is consequently impossible to embarrass. Being blackout drunk in front of people, publicly dressing in a humiliating manner (whatever you consider that to be), saying the stupidest shit with absolutely no explanation---Peter is able to pull it all off completely unbothered simply because he doesn't think anything is beneath him. It's what makes him fun to be around at school and also slimy and pathetic as a death eater, and one of the reasons I like him so much.
Peter loves to be physically comfortable, and he loves making others feel that way too. Hedonistic is a word that some use for it, but I don't think that's really the right one. If someone he cares about is crying, he is most likely to make them something hot to drink and give them something warm and tasty to eat and wrap them up in a warm blanket and then give them a massive hug. Touch is his love language. Physical comfort frequently equates to safety, and that is the single most important thing to Peter, so he does his best to make sure he and everyone he cares about are physically taken care of.
The truth is a commodity to be bought and sold to Peter. I think it's generally assumed that characters in fiction will be honest, but that isn't really an assumption you can make with Peter due to his social chameleon aspect. He'll lie his ass off to get you to like him, but he commits to the bit and changes his whole personality and life to match the lie too. He'll lie for as long as it's feasible and even when it's not.
I think that Peter can enjoy watching his friends be mean and enjoys joining in on their meanness, but he wouldn't ever be mean if left to his own devices. He's too scared to do that. I also think he is SIGNIFICANTLY less judgemental than his friends. Peter accepts everybody as they are because nothing is beneath him, including people. He doesn't require you to change or get better, because you're still probably better than him (boy has issues). It allows him to be an extremely comforting force to a self-loather like Remus, but it also lets him casually work with a lot of actually despicable human beings.
I think that Peter is probably somewhere on the a-spec, but not 100% aroace, because you can't look me in the eye and tell me he didn't have a massive unrequited crush on James Potter. I like to think he's demiromantic and demisexual. He has to already have formed an emotional connection before romance and sex are possibilities, and even after being very close friends for a long time, it's not like that guarantees attraction. I also think he's pan.
So in the initial list I assigned him to Lila, mostly because they are both sneaky bad guys who ended up aligned with the villains. I think it still works. Bear in mind that I am also a Lila apologist (she is 14. You do not get Like That as a 14 year old without a reason).
They both are social chameleons who desperately want to be liked. They're both people that I see as aspec (My Lila is an aromantic lithsexual lesbian). They're both liars who'll side with just completely awful people if it helps their plans. They're both good at thinking ahead and pulling long cons. They both very obsessed with their People (Adrien for Lila, the marauders for Peter) and it can come off almost Yandere-esque at times (I hope I'm using that word right).
The main difference here is their attitudes. Lila is smug and confident and prideful. Lila IS too proud to beg, Peter is not in any universe. Lila also has a hard time forming genuine connections and opening up and is much more of an independent actor than Peter. Peter has had a James Potter since childhood (a.k.a. THE Extrovert) so being an asshole loner was never really an option.
TBH, I think the person who's personality he most gels with is Sabrina. I need you all to think about this critically. Someone who is almost slavishly devoted to their cooler friend and isn't too prideful for literally anything, is kind and caring in their own respect, but is mean to help them fit in, and eventually ends out turning on that friend and breaking away from them.
There's not really a traitor for me to narratively assign him to in the ML universe. You have Felix and Chloe, but they weren't ever really good guys to begin with, so I don't think their betrayals count. Lila does fit his narrative role of "someone who seems nice but isn't the best." A big problem is that permanent consequences and death aren't something ML characters really face. The powers of the Ladybug basically allow everything to be retconned to shit and back, so they never have to worry about physical injury and permanent harm the way Marauders characters do. Since this is so integral to Peter's character, I'm having a tough time assigning him an analog.
So here, I'm gonna have to pull what I'm doing with James, Nino, and Kim. He's narratively Lila, but with a more Sabrina-esque personality. But this is my most tenuous connection, and I'd love suggestions.
While I do have to suggest the mouse miraculous (multiplication) for him, I think there's on that's actually more fitting: the Rooster. I know my list up there says Fox because he's a Lila analog and also a pathological liar, I like the rooster better. Because the Rooster can give you whatever power you want, which is exactly what Peter desires.
So, just to summarize so far, in this AU, Nino's personality has been meshed with Kim's, Lila has Sabrina's personality, Adrien has PV Adrien's personality, and Lila, is part of the friend group with Adrien, Nino, Alya, and Marinette, and the unrequited crush is on Nino AND Adrien, hope this helps! I also love Peter and James being childhood friends, so our "Lila" grew up in Nino's neighborhood and they know each other. Also because we're doing Jily and Wolfstar, this means that DJWifi no longer gets to be the couple has their shit together! That's gonna have to go to Rosekiller :)! Anyway.
Mary Macdonald:
To me, Mary's most important trait is weaponized kindness. Mary is kind in a world that doesn't reward it, and continues to be kind as a massive fuck you to everybody. Think Cinderella. People hate her and attack her and tell her she doesn't belong in both the muggle and magical worlds because she's black and because she's a muggleborn. But she does the thing that pisses them off the most. She doesn't listen to them, but she is still kind to them. When they call her a mudblood and tell her she shouldn't be at Hogwarts, she'll smile at them and say "I am so sorry you were raised that way. Let me show you exactly why I belong!" when someone tells her to "go back where you came from" (I threw up in my mouth a little writing that), she'll say "I came from England. You're afraid because I am an unknown and being cruel because of it. Why don't we buy some ice cream and you can get to know me?"
Mary Macdonald is kind and forgiving because nothing annoys your enemies so much.
I think all the prejudice she's faced in her life has turned her into an activist. She pays attention to the things that are wrong in this world and makes people listen to her about them by simply refusing to leave or shut up. She's not in-your-face or loud, she simply makes herself impossible to ignore because she'll be CONSTANTLY in front of you. She won't let those problems be tucked away where it doesn't affect you because she's ALWAYS there making them seen.
Mary likes looking pretty and is really good at it. She's fat and a fashionista. She mostly does thrift fashion. She can put together a gala-worthy outfit from stuff she found at 10 different secondhand stores. She's good at recycling and fixing fabric. I think she does a lot amongst her friend group to teach them about muggle fashion and culture, and causes them to adopt it. I have a headcanon about the Gryffindors of the 70s really blending wizard and muggle culture wherever they could, partially in response to Voldemort's movement gaining more traction, but a lot because Mary made it seem SO COOL. She's also definitely a makeup whiz, but I know nothing about makeup, so sue me.
I definitely think Mary would rather go out dancing than do homework, but she does well enough in class. Her real intelligence is in sharing her passions, as previously discussed. I think Mary is also really into music, but not the punk alt scene like everybody else. She's the one introducing the group to pop music and making sure they can dance and sing to the songs that are usually played on the radio.
Everyone wants to date Mary, but in exactly the opposite way they want to date Sirius. Sirius is ridiculously hot and has a bad-boy persona, so everyone wants a one-night stand with him. Mary is pretty, but she's also so crushingly genuine and wholesome and kind in a way that makes everyone want to be her SO and have a long-term relationship and start a family and crap with her. Mary is largely uninterested.
She's trans cuz I said so. Fuck JKR <3
In the inital list, I assigned her to Mylene, and I think with the way I see them as very sweet activists, it still fits just fine. I even think Mylene's struggles with small and "stupid" fears but managing to face them with patience and work anyway could be interesting as a Mary especially where they're practically fearless about bigger things. Because she fits so well with Mylene, I think the mouse is appropriate. I think the pig is far more appropriate, but the mouse works.
Marlene McKinnon
Our lesbian punk queen, let's fucking go!
No, but Marlene is a punk. In every sense of the word. Marlene is angry and loud and bossy and non-conformist. She is the person you can trick into doing something you want by telling her she can't. She'll physically fight anybody who says shit she doesn't like. She is a very physically inclined person who revels in moving and putting force behind her movements. It's why she loves being a beater. She's got about a billion things to bitch about on any given day, and she is making it your problem. She's a butch, but she'll dress like a slutty femme just to make you feel uncomfortable. She is the biggest rule-breaker of the Valkyries and even gives the marauders a run for their money sometimes. She's blatant about it too. She's got more detentions on her record than James and Sirius simply because she makes very little effort to hide her misdeeds. She's right after all, why on earth would she? She's annoying and rude and bitchy and so unapologetically herself that it's magnetic.
When she thinks you're wrong, she's gonna tell you, with her voice and her fists. Unlike the marauders though, she's not just a jerk. Her violence is always directed at someone who does actually deserve it. She is incredibly moral and doesn't stand for people who break that code. For every time that the marauders found themselves on the wrong end of Lily's wand, there were 10 more times that they were on the wrong end of Marlene's fists. And she wins fights. Especially of the muggle variety. I think she does a lot of both jinxing and punching people.
Marlene isn't good at school. I headcanon her as dyslexic and ADHD and it's just impossible to focus in class with both of those. She spends a lot of time getting dragged through her classwork by Lily and Mary. Not that she doesn't try, but it's hard and frustrating and she's set more than one schoolbook on fire.
Marlene is a pureblood, but she LOVES muggle culture. She thinks everything she learns about muggles is fascinating. Muggle studies is her favorite class. One of her favorite bonding activities is when Mary and Lily take her to the muggle pub. It's like if Arthur Weasley was a punk lesbian teen girl.
Marlene is suuuuuuper into music and plays the electric guitar and the electric bass. A surefire way to get her to remember something is to set it to a catchy tune. She loves to scream her favorite songs at the top of her lungs.
She's kind of obsessed with Dorcas Meadowes. I'm a Marylene girly, but Marls does idolize Dorcas as a quidditch star and think she's super hot and cool. That kind of celebrity crush fades once they get to know each other and she starts getting to know Mary. . .but she still thinks Dorcas is super hot. Mary's just hotter.
I assigned Marlene as Alix or Ivan, but tbh the Ivan is just for the Marylene. Loud punk girl with dyed hair who's athletic and competitive and takes no shit is just Alix full stop. Guess we're shipping Mylene and Alix now, lol.
Alix's miraculous doesn't fit her at ALL and so it also doesn't fit Marlene at all. If I'm assigning her a miraculous it's the tiger. It's literally PUNCH!
Fuck it.
It's 2 a.m. and this is getting long. That finishes off the gryffindors. I'll finish the slytherins and talk about the broad strokes plot after I sleep. Ya'll can sit on this for a bit.
hear me out... ive said it before and ill say it again... marauders miraculous au...
No, we are NOT back to square one
I know most fans are frustrated with the love square being reversed cus it seems everything is back to square one, but it really isn't. Marichat has always been the step closer to resolving the convoluted love square!
The problem with the original status quo (aka Ladrien) was that they were only in love with idealized versions of each other. Marinette was infatuated with the charming, kind and handsome classmate who seemingly has no flaw, and Adrien was in love with a hero whom he put on a pedestal. NOW, these idealized images are broken. Adrien realizes Ladybug doesn't trust him enough as an equal and he needs to come into his own, Marinette realizes she doesn't actually know Adrien that well and has just been making a fool out of herself. Here comes what makes Marichat so damn good.
Even before the love square switched, their relationship was already superior. Outside of the suit, Marinette can be herself and joke around especially with her partner. Adrien has always felt more free as Chat, plus he doesn't feel pressured around Marinette. Their interactions as Marichat are pure gold — joking around, play fighting, hanging out, literally best friends in a way they can't be as other ships in the love square. They truly get each other as Marichat, and now that they have feelings for each other, we KNOW it's not the "new ladrien".
Marinette doesn't have an idealized image of Chat Noir in her head. She knows his flaws, his bad puns, his carefree nature, his endless flirting — all the reasons she didn't like him cus he's "not like Adrien", but now that she does have feelings for Chat, that means she's slowly learning what real love is — loving a whole person, flaws and all. She has now loved all sides of Adrien Agreste.
Adrien simply didn't like Marinette before because she was too shy around him, the one who always runs away. The Marinette around Chat? Sassy, bossy, chaotic mess and that endears him to no end. "Ladybug" is never a klutz and has to have everything under control, but "Marinette" is anything but. He now loves the part of her she has always been ashamed of, thus has loved all of Marinette Dupain-Cheng too.
LadyNoir may never be the same, but this change in dynamic can be good! Chat can focus less on what Ladybug thinks of him and Ladybug will learn to be less of a boss and more of a partner. Besides, it would be nice to see Ladybug's shy flirting just go over an oblivious Chat's head.
What does annoy me though is how Mari still thinks Chat is in love with her (like girl IT'S YOU AS THE KLUTZY TEENAGER) so I'm hoping in future eps we get Chat flirting w/ Marinette and yall I shit you not I WILL die when he does.
Take it from someone who has been here for 7 years and stopped watching mid season 3. My faith is renewed!
Con Man's Daughter (8)
[Masterlist]
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7) (Part 7.5) (Here) (Part 9)
-------
Thought about it and decided that Damian and Marinette and Raven in a love triangle is a small fun idea (Hello, @summerfox1988)
The beginning: Raven has a slight crush on Damian > Damian has feelings for Marinette and is in denial of it > Marinette is straight out flirting with Raven who is oblivious that she is flirting.
Progression of the Love ‘Triangle’:
Marinette: one day thought about how her best friend Damian is hot and panics because she likes Raven. It’s fine to like two people at once but one of them is her best friend and she doesn’t want to ruin her friendship with him. She had to walk out of the room due to the sheer number of butterflies in her stomach when she saw the two of them together and how cute both of them looked, especially playing with her various pets who she had left with Damian while she dealt with her half-siblings who are literal demons (story for another time). Certified bi disaster mess. Her father is of no help, laughing at her hopeless crushes and no, she isn’t going to fabricate a scenario where she traps all of them in one place so she can tell both of them that she likes them.(A lil bit of foreshadowing) At least, uncle Chas and aunt Z were better help. For now, she is going to maintain her distance until she can get her shit together enough to confess.
Damian, still enjoying the river of denial, finds out that the funny feeling he gets when he sees Marinette flirting with Raven is jealousy but comes to the conclusion that he likes Raven and Marinette is his competition. He actually started to like Raven as more than just a friend as he hung out more with her. He feels a little bad for Constantine since she keeps leaving the room everytime she sees the two of them together and, dare he say it, sad that she isn’t around as often and inviting him out on one of her adventures. It hits him while he was patrolling in Gotham with Nightwing that he had a crush on Marinette too. Causing him to misfire his grapple but luckily his brother saved him from falling into the horrid smelling dumpster.
Raven on the other hand, after getting over her jealousy of Marinette because of her closer relationship with Damian, has a quick gay panic and finds that she actually does like-like Marinette that way. The Constantine girl had worn down her defences and Raven was more fond of her than she was willing to admit. It hits her when she notices that Marinette hasn’t been visiting her lately and that she misses her and the way Mari made her feel when she was around. (Mari was spending the week in Amity Park which is rumoured to be one of the most haunted town in America.) One of the Titans casually reveals to her that Marinette had been flirting with her the entire time. And Damian had been hanging out with her more often which she was happy about but Marinette wasn’t around as often.
There is a betting pool on who ends up with who. There is definitely lots of pining and high tensions that makes everyone in the JL frustrated.
It all comes to an end with a mission. The three ended up trapped together for 48 hours in some pocket dimension Marinette opened at the last minute so they could escape but she and Raven were both too drained to open it again to the real world.
Feelings are revealed. At the end of the 48-hours, they all avoided each other for a few days to come to terms with everything because all of them are terrible with emotions. Also they have to deal with a world-ending crisis.
They decided to meet up and talked it out after some encouragement from friends and family.
The next day, the three of them are seen at Andre’s ice cream cart, getting ice cream.
More chaos ensues when everyone in the JL thinks each of them is two-timing the other but nothing is confirmed.
It gets cleared up when Marinette walks in holding both Raven’s and Robin’s hands to a JL meeting and announces that they are dating.
Everyone loses it. The winners of the betting pool were Nightwing, Oracle and Zatanna. John had betted on Marinette and Raven because liking demons (or half-demon) is somewhat of a family trait and he didn’t think that Demon in a title counted.
—---
Damian: Hello?
Mari: Great, Damian, by any chance do you know the best way to cover up a crime scene?
Damian, pinching the bridge of his nose: What did you do, Constantine? And I hope you didn’t forget that it’s date night.
Mari: For the record, it was an accident. A bloody and messy accident. I think I am going to be late for date night. By the way, do you know any dry cleaners who will ask no questions? This shade of red won’t hide the bloodstains as well as I hoped.
Damian: I will ask Todd for you, he probably knows how often his jackets get so much blood on them. Back to the accident, did you accidentally kill someone.
Mari: Oh, they were already dead. The ghoul was just impersonating them. Those were always so messy to kill.
Damian, sighing heavily: What do you usually do with the bodies?
Mari: So...usually I kill ghouls in dark places, deep underground, catacombs mostly. There was this one time in the forest. I just leave the body there to decompose on its own because people don’t happen to find the body until a long long time later. This time….it’s in an apartment building where its previous victim lived.
Raven, walking into the Titans living room with some snacks: Is that Mari? Did she forget that it’s date night?
Damian: How do you know it’s her?
Raven: You have a face that you make when she gets herself into trouble.
Mari, over the phone: Rae? Can you tell our boyfriend to help me? Better yet, portal him to my location.
Raven: Turn on the speaker, Damian, To Mari: Depends. What did you do?
Mari, nervously laughs: I may have...killed a ghoul and it was messier than I had intended and now the apartment looks like murder scene.
Raven: Why don’t you get your father to help you
Mari: No. Absolutely not. He will be mad that I took on the ghoul by myself. Look, just portal Damian over and help me clean this up before nosy neighbours come and investigate. I will owe you guys one. I can do this all on my own but the faster this place is clean, the faster we can go back to our scheduled date-
-----
As Marinette rambles on, Raven mutes the call and looks at her other partner. Mari worriedly asks why they aren’t answering when it got quiet on the other end.
“Some days I can’t believe we are dating this disaster.” said Raven.
“At least we will never be bored. And we knew what we were getting into when we both said yes. You do remember who she is related to?” replied Damian.
“Yes. How unfortunate that she inherited those traits. So...are we going to help her?”
“Might as well. Don’t want our girlfriend going to jail on murder charges.”
“Azarath Metrion Zinthos!”
Mari turned around to see her partners, stepped into the puddle of blood while she was rolling the body up with the carpet.
Damian told them each what to do. Mari gets rid of the body while he and Raven clean up the crime scene.
“Thanks, guys. I will make this up to you, I swear.”
“You can by letting us pick the movie for tonight.”
 Marinette’s eyes widened in horror as she knew what her partners wanted to watch. “No. Please no. I beg of you.”
“Yes. We are going to watch Miraculous Adventures of Lady Rouge and Chat Noir.” Damian said with a smirk.
“No. Anything but that movie.”
“Why do you hate it so much?” Raven asked as she used a spell to dispose of the innards of the ghoul.
“They made it without my knowing. There are so many things wrong. For starters, they didn't even get my suit right.”
“A few inaccuracies in the costume is a common mistake in the film industry.”
“Well, then that costume was the biggest mistake in the history of movies. Ladybug, they even changed my freaking name for no reason but kept it in the movie title, I call false advertising. Anyways, Ladybug is a normal girl with a normal life with a big secret which is wearing a plain, boring polka-dotted skin-tight suit that showed how well-toned she is, and she doesn’t wear anything else to cover it up. Is it practical? Probably, given how many superheroes have a preference for it, no offense to your brothers, Damian.”
“They can take the criticism.” he replied, getting the cleaning supplies out.
“Back to my point on that suit, where is the flair? Where is the dramatic applications that comes with a coat or maybe a cape? If I ever get my hands on that suit, I am going to burn it in the flames of hell. It’s too simple and plain for my taste and it’s a stupid excuse for horny males to stare at a nearly naked girl. How come Chat Noir has a near identical costume in the movie and I don’t even have my coat. It’s like my signature look. Stores ran out of red coats after the first month I showed up. Plus what even is the plot? It made no sense-”
She continued ranting as she finished rolling up the body and dragged it through a portal to who knows where to get rid of the body.
Damian and Raven shared an amused grin as they continued cleaning up the apartment. They were definitely going to see that movie.
(I have only played poker, specifically, a few times….on the computer and watched a youtube video of it.)
One weekend, a ten-year-old Marinette was sleeping over at the House of Mystery while her parents were going on a trip somewhere and John was looking after her.
She woke up in the middle of the night and went to get some water. Instead, she dropped into the middle of her father’s poker game with a few other special guests like the Demon Etrigan.
She sleepily bumped her head against his arm and he patted her hair in acknowledgement.
“Go back to sleep, sweetheart.”
“Don’t wanna. I want to watch you play.”
“Okay, one round and back to bed, you little rascal.”
Marinette giggled as the other players cooed or rolled their eyes at the father and daughter duo. A few were confused about John having a little girl in his house.
John had betted a hefty sum and the others were hesitant on calling. They weren’t sure if John was confident to win or bluffing like he usually do.
That is until Marinette in her innocent voice said, “Why don’t you have any good cards, Daddy? I thought you said you were good at poker.”
Everyone else raised their bets.
John sighed deeply before in a dad voice explained, “Sometimes, sweetie, you make people think you have good cards even though you don’t have any by betting really really high. That’s called bluffing. Sometimes, you can even double-bluff them into thinking that you don’t have any good cards when you have great ones.” he said as he revealed that he got a hand better than the others.
“What?!” all the other players exclaimed.
“Trickery!” A demon stood up and exposed its blades.
“Come on, mates. I can’t believe all of you fell for my ten-” “Nearly eleven,” Marinette injected, “-sorry, my nearly eleven years old daughter’s first con.”
“If she wasn’t your daughter, I would have snapped her neck for her deception, Constantine.”
“I would like to see *yawns* you try.” Marinette yawned again and rubbed her eyes.
“No taunting the demons and off to bed with you, lady luck.” John said as he nudged Marinette towards the stairs.
“You owe me half of the winnings.” She flashed them an all-too-familiar infuriating grin before racing up the stairs.
—--(Time skip to years later)----
21 years old Marinette is playing poker with other Justice League members in her Lady Rouge suit.
The others had folded.
Marinette with a very good poker face due to her mask was against a very confident Green Arrow with lots of money at stake as her father sauntered into the room, a cigarette hanging off his lips, completely disregarding the no-smoking rule of the Watchtower.
John looked over her shoulder to see her cards. “One of these days, I am going to have to ban you from poker because wearing the Ladybug miraculouses for a long time gives you too much luck and everyone and their mother loses everything to you everytime.”
Marinette snickered. “You are such a sore loser. I can still win Ladybug luck or no.”
“Well, I wish the rest of you sorry lot the best of luck.” he said before continuing on his way.
Green Arrow looked less confident at John Constantine’s words. “I fold.”
“Hai! Told ya that I would still win Ladybug luck or no.” She reveals a very bad hand, making Green Arrow screamed in outrage and cursed a storm.
Marinette smugly collected her pot, “To anyone who says that I am cheating because I wore magic lucky earrings for two years. I am currently wearing the bad luck ring to counter it for a fair game. Zatanna or any other magic user other than John can confirm.” She said, gesturing her head towards the magician who was watching them play.
Zatanna nodded to confirm and not mentioning the many tricks Lady Rouge had deployed so far to cheat. Like father like daughter. Plus she promised 10 percent of her winnings if the magician kept quiet. Green Arrow was rich, he will get over it.
"ALYA AND NINO HAD ONE JOB!!!"
And what job is that exactly? Being the Black Best Friend for these White leads?
They still are doing just that. Being a Black Best friend basically means:
You are the White lead's therapist
You are their angel on their shoulder
You are their demon on their other shoulder
You are their guardian
You are their baby
You are their protector
You are their villain
The real purpose of a Black Best Friend is to just make the White lead look good or better in comparison. And both Alya and Nino did just that, yall sympathizing for the White characters even more. Why? Because the mean Black people can't read minds and misunderstood these White characters' feelings and intentions. Nevermind the fact said White characters give these Black characters a reason why they would conclude with these assumptions. We as the audience assume that a Black Best Friend must always be in agreement, otherwise they are worst than Satan. (Actual sentence I've encountered numerous times for Black characters)
The Black Best Friend will be OOC when the narrative calls for it.
Alya and Nino didn't help Marinette with the Adrien situation because the narrative called for it. That simple. We needed some sort of proof that Marinette and Adrien have a deep and close personal bond-even though the show does nothing to demonstrate this for the majority of the plot. This was just the easiest way: Pretending that these Black characters (who show how easily they can pick up when their White friends are upset on numerous occasions) are all of a sudden oblivious
Being the Black Best Friend isn't a "one job" gig; it's a whole ass corporation for this one White character.
The racism and antiblackness in this fandom have always been bad. But damn yall do love to show up when Black History Month comes around, I guess
Anyways, y'all might as well learn something- here are some links and videos that go more into this stupid trope.
MIRACULOUS FIC RECOMENDATIONS!! (Part 2)
You can find part 1 here.
The first one was really popular! So I decided to make a second part.
The rules are the same:
All of the fics will be rated Teen and up audiences or lower. Also if I don’t put the author’s tumblr is because they didn’t put it in the fic or/and I couldn’t find it.
The only thing that changes is that I would be putting the pairing in the description of the fic.
Without further ado...
Written in the Stars by Boogum (@botherkupo here on tumblr!)
Pairing: Marichat and Adrienette.
He was the god of destruction. She was a princess whose kingdom had been prophesied to fall. To save her people, she became his wife. To save him, she would have to do the impossible. The castle has secrets, the gods are watching, and time is running out.
Chapters: 37/37
TW for mild violence.
Arrange marriage, God AU. While I'm making this list, I still haven't finished the fic, but I had to recommend it because is THAT good. The way I gasped out loud while reading some of the plot twists. The worldbuilding is so good, and even if you aren't into AUs that deviate a lot from cannon like me, I 100% reccomend it.
Need a Lift? again by Boogum.
Pairing: DJWifi
Getting stranded on a foreign planet sucked. Luckily for Nino, his rival was willing to give him a lift home. Unluckily for Nino, she was beautiful and funny and he might just be in love with her.
Chapters: 1/1
Space Bounty Hunter AU! Really sweet and funny. If you are into flustered!Nino then this fic is for you.
hey, you by peachcitt (@peachcitt here on tumblr!)
Pairing: Adrienette
“Have you ever had a dream about someone that changes the way you think of them?”
or Adrien has a dream about Marinette.
Chapters: 1/1
Okay so, peachcitt is one of my favorite ml writers. Everything that they write is sooo good y'all, and i'm already a sucker for adrienette, so I cannot recommend this fic (or any of theirs) enough.
double dare again by peachcitt (I told ya!)
Pairing: Ladrien (with lots of sided ladynoir)
“Don’t ever do that again,” Marinette says, maybe a little too emphatically, and Adrien looks at her, his expression quiet. His cheeks, Marinette notices, are a little red.
“But I wanted to save you,” he says.
or Ladybug and Adrien can't seem to stop running into each other. (whether that is on accident or on purpose is nobody's business but their own, of course).
Chapters: 30/30
This was a ladrien june fic! Every chapter corresponds to the day's prompts but it also continues a story. If that doesn't make you want to read it then I don't know what it will. I fear fanfic writers, they're insane.
(not) so much by therentyoupay (@therentyoupayfanfiction here on tumblr!)
Pairing: Marichat and adrienette
(The claws are sharp, but the host of Destruction—for all of his loudmouth chaos and lack of reserve—is paradoxically careful.)
Chapters: 1/1
In which Chat Noir pays a visit not long after Marinette has made a pretty difficult decision, and they accidentally make a routine.
Prompt: Marinette gives Chat a hickey. Adrien has a suspiciously similar looking hickey the next day at school...
Gotta be honest with y'all, I did not expect this fic to be as good as it is. The adrienette has everything a stablished!Marichat should have. Marinette conflicted with her feelings? Check. Adrien being a hot mess bc That's My Girlfriend But She Doesn't Know That? Check. Them being absolute idiots? Check. It's good!
Doctor, Doctor, Give Me The News (Your Lips Is The Only Cure I Could Use) by BreG21.
Pairing: Adrienette
Rainwater sloshed up from the pools they had made on the sidewalk and coated his jean pants with every step he took. He couldn't bring himself to care.
He sniffed away some of the water that dribbled down his matted head. "Yeah?"
He paused as if to consider his words while Adrien stared down at him, so lost. "You weren't wrong when you thought you knew. A part of you wanted it to be her, but it was too perfect, you let the illusion fool you because how would you get that lucky. But trust me, Adrien. You weren't wrong."
He wasn't wrong? What was he not wrong about?
You weren't wrong. You want it to be her.
And it finally clicked as a small gasp wisped past his lips. He wasn't wrong.
In which, Plagg falls ill, and with Fu gone and Ladybug being the guardian now, has to go find her civilian self-even with the knowledge that she might not like that-is shocked to realize that even with having the kwami that was supposed to embodied the very being of bad luck, Adrien could conclude the very opposite of what he had thought for so long.
He was so very lucky.
Chapters: 1/1
I screamed so hard while reading this fic. It's just one of those who gets the characters right. Do you like a good reveal? Go read this now.
Operation Mega Sleepover by InTheWild (@smellerbeee here on tumblr!)
Pairing: Adrienette
When Alya and Nino drop out of their long awaited mega-sleepover at the last minute, it leaves Marinette and Adrien alone together for the night. An Adrinette one-shot with lots of fluff and sleepover shenanigans.
Chapters: 1/1
I just,,, I love adrienette fluff so much,,, I love them,,,
You, Me & A Little Bit Of The Future by joonapeach.
Pairing: this is a fortunate case of all lovesquare shenanigans™
Marinette expects some disaster on her first outing alone with Adrien.
She just doesn't expect that disaster to be her future self passing off a baby for her to take care of with Adrien.
(Alternatively... two idiots obliviously in love cooing over their daughter while acting like they have no idea whose kid this is.)
Chapters: 1/1
I think the description says anything that it needs to be said. It's really sweet and funny and I love how they just change their minds so quickly and get emo for literally nothing. Peak shakesperean dumbasery.
The entire Marry That Girl series by Miraculous_Max (Maximilian_Alexander).
Pairing: Adrienette
Let’s say Marinette has a special sketchbook. This sketchbook is filled with drawings of their future house, of Adrien as an adult in multiple occupational settings, of Marinette and Adrien’s wedding, and most importantly, their future children.
Let's say Adrien found this sketchbook.
Works: 8 (All are 1/1 chapters)
Just realized how this list exposes me as number 1 adrienette sucker... oh well. I love how Adrien doesn't feel weirded out by the intensity of Marinette's crush. He likes it! He's as weird and romantic as her! That's one of the reasons I love the lovesquare so much and it makes me happy to see that everyone is in the same boat with me.
Strenght by 11JJ11.
Pairing: Adrienette
Marinette knew she was much stronger than she looked thanks to being a hero. So when her class had an arm wrestling contest she knew that she could beat all of them with ease, but she wasn't expecting anyone else to come close.
Chapters: 1/1
Good ol' accidental reveal feat. the entire class shenanigans. I, once again, screamed for an adrienette fic. Who could've thought.
Super Fan by Taliax.
Pairing: Ladrien
It was a good thing Alya was holding the phone and not her, because it would have slipped from her fingers and shattered. How had she not noticed? She had been there, and somehow she’d missed her crush looking at her like she was an angel sent from heaven.
Forget the perfume ad. This picture was going to be her new desktop.
(In which Marinette realizes that she and Adrien might both be obsessive fans.)
Chapters: 1/1
Canon divergent from after Gorizilla. They're so dumb. That's my opinion on this fic.
How to Kiss Your Crush in Five Minutes or Less also by Taliax.
Pairing: Ladrien
He just needed to know if Ladybug needed Chat Noir. He didn't expect to learn just how much she wanted Adrien.
This would be the best five minutes of his life, if he didn't expect her to forget it.
Chapters: 1/1
CW for making out.
Set during Desperada. I promise there's a happy ending. Also Luka is there for some reason, felt really bad for him.
Laying Down the Rules: The Gabriel Agreste Clauses by LadyKae
Gen
Adrien leaves the manor on a dark and stormy night and seeks sanctuary at the only place he feels safe: The Home of the Dupain-Cheng Family. When Sabine learns why her dear boy is fleeing to her home in the middle of the night, she makes a personal visit to one Gabriel Agreste.
There's more rules in play, but not for Adrien and Marinette.
Chapters: 1/1
This is just Sabine going to beat the fuck out of Gabriel and it's really satifying ngl
4am. by hannieks
Pairing: post-reveal lovesquare
In which Adrien has the cat tendency to wake up their owners at stupid o'clock, and Marinette just wants to sleep. Cuteness ensues.
Chapters: 1/1
Really short but really sweet. If you like Adrien acting like a cat then you would like this.
Can I Date You(r Character)? by midnightstarlightwrites (@midnightstarlightwrites here on tumblr!)
Pairing: Adrienette
Adrien turned to her, something unreadable in his gaze. “Are you ok with this?” he asked.
And what a loaded question that was. Was she ok with it? Was she ok with the one guy she couldn’t seem to get over in real life kissing her in a game of Dungeons and Dragons? When she put it like that, it seemed a bit silly to get so worked up.
It was just a game...right?
