Yes, you are allowed to buy those handmade Inuit winter clothes if an Inuk is literally selling them to you. They would not be offering you a price point if they didnt want you to buy and wear them. And you might discover that theyre the best winter clothes youve ever worn because of COURSE they would be if theyve kept this culture warm in harsh winters for thousands of years.

Yes, you are allowed to join those Cambodians in that local holiday theyre celebrating during your visit if they literally invited you to it. They would not have invited you if they didnt want you to participate. And in the process you might learn a lot about a culture you never wouldve interacted with and you can all have a laugh together about your clumsy but genuine attempts at getting your footwork right in one of their traditional dances.

Yes, you are also allowed to ask if you can participate in something from the local culture you are visiting. Sometimes you will get "sorry, thats a closed practice" but in my experience most of the time you'll get "of course, let me show you how to do this!" And in my experience people tend to appreciate when others make an active effort in sharing their culture and wont stone you to death if youre clumsy about it while youre learning. I guarantee that the local children doing all of this for the first time too make the same mistakes you do and they can tell if youre being disrespectful or genuine.

So much "cultural appropriation" discourse really starts to sound like "you cant participate or visit any other cultures if youre from a Colonial Culture and have to stay in your little box and never relate to other people"

Gelphie post canon fic where Glinda finally snaps after years of people saying the foulest things about the only woman she has ever loved. So she apologises to Elphie’s memory before she just loses it and starts yelling at the people for being ignorant and starts talking about how wonderful she was (possibly starts shit talking the wizard).

The people of Oz assume the wicked witch somehow managed to put a spell on Glinda either from beyond the grave or it’s a spell that only now has made itself known or that she somehow is back. They start to turn on her and she ends up actually being in danger.

Glinda is all like “looks like I’ll be seeing you soon, Elphie” and just has no will left to fight. Meanwhile Elphaba somehow finds out and now has to rush back to Oz to save her sweet. It’s a race against the clock to see who can get there first, Elphaba or the angry mob.

I feel like everyone who comments about penelope being a 'spartan woman' knows nothing about sparta

i mean for one the odyssey is set centuries before the era of sparta youre all thinking about came along and second,

most of what we know about the role of women in sparta comes from athenian sources- who famously did not get along with spartans. It's true that spartan women had slightly more rights than other greek women (like having more access to education) but its also true that the athenians most likely HEAVILY exaggerated the rights that women had as anti-spartan propaganda

its like the only way you guys know how to show a strong, independent female character is by making her a man. she doesnt need to be physically strong or a warrior to be badass! focus on her intelligence! (one of the only actual traits she has in the odyssey)

You wanna ship canonically aspec characters because “aro/ace people can still date/have sex”? Okay, then. LET’S DO IT.  I wanna see an aromantic character with an alloromantic love interest. I wanna see that confession of undying love and the moment when the aro character says they will never feel the same way—not romantically.

I wanna see the asexual character with their allosexual partner. I wanna see that moment when the ace characters tries sex with their partner for the first time because they want to make them happy only to realize that they are 100% sex repulsed.

I wanna see the two demiromantics who don’t even know if what they feel is romantic attraction, but they adore each other and just want to make healthy snacks together and destroy each other at Mario Kart.

I wanna see the two aces who love sensual affection and are figuring out what they define as sexual or not.

I wanna see the romance + sex neutral aroace who happily and consensually does whatever makes their partner happy…but their partner still struggles with feeling undesired.
