All the news that's fit to print from r/fountainpens

So, I alluded yesterday to drama about fountain pen retailers and then I promised in the notes that I might write about the drama. And by golly, I'm going to do that!

First, caveats: I am not deeply involved in r/fountainpens (I only read and never post). I have seen some people talk about a related Discord server, which I am also not a part of. I am generally not deeply involved in the fountain pen community at large. I did join Fountain Pen Network at some point but I haven't posted in years. So, I was not involved in any of the interactions I'm going to talk about, and because some things have been deleted or only talked about, I'm going to be going off of my recollections. Remember, witness testimony is not always reliable! And witness testimony of witness testimony? Goodness gracious.

Also, this may get long, so buckle up.

Now, let's get started.

This is about the Goulet Pen Company. The Goulet Pen Company (GPC or Goulet) is a Virginia-based online seller of fountain pens and related paraphernalia: ink, paper, accessories, some glass dip pens, an occasional rollerball, etc. GPC also features a lot of useful educational tools, such as videos about pens and their various types and the handy Nib Nook, where you can compare the writing of different nibs with most variables removed. Goulet isn't really unusual for this; JetPens, for example, has guides as well. English does love alliteration, though, it has to be said. Go read Beowulf.

Goulet has also been producing a podcast, or as it is more commonly known, the Goulet Pencast, for some time. The main face of the Pencast is Drew Brown (along with Brian Goulet). Now, here's the big thing: Drew is no longer with GPC. The Pencast took a brief hiatus, and people who follow it were concerned, and the most recent episode confirmed that Drew would no longer be a part of the Goulet Pen Company or the Pencast. Drew is a much beloved figure. I personally never got into the Pencast (listen, the episodes are long!), but I saw him in product videos and never saw a reason to dislike him, so I'm sure that the Pencast was a way people really got to know and love him.

Now, Brian and Rachel Goulet, in the most recent episode, did not go into detail about why Drew was no longer with GPC; they confirmed his departure and expressed their sadness. Many r/fountainpen users would like to know more, and so they began speculating. Some came up with benign or not actually that fun for subreddit drama reasons: maybe Drew just moved on. Maybe there was a dispute over pay. Maybe Drew or a family member had a health issue he needed to leave to focus on. Other things were proposed: maybe it was actually a difference of political opinion--Drew seems to lean more liberal whereas the Goulets seem to lean more conservative.

At some point, someone pointed out this portion of a Goulet newsletter that had been sent out (apparently in August):

I admit: To me, this reads like a pretty typical "Hi we are a small business in the southern United States so here are three vague paragraphs about our life so that this marketing material we're sending has that personal family touch" thing.

However, some redditors latched on to the bit about them being on the startup team for a new church, and that fueled some of the speculation that Drew left Goulet because of political differences.

Now, here's where the Lockening began: someone figured out what the startup church was, probably using known facts about the Goulets (their location in Virginia and the date of the first service noted by Rachel above), and they found the startup church's parent church. And they found a podcast put out by that parent church and they hurried to r/fountainpens to post screenshots of a transcript from that podcast where the speaker compares homosexuality to murder. In the sense of "glorifying sins" or whatever, not saying "killing a man is the same as fucking him." This is the kind of rhetoric I see a lot, so I don't really get surprised and appalled by it the way some folks do. Anyway, the issue then became: do the Goulets espouse these beliefs?

Well, not to worry: someone else found a statement of belief from one of the churches and posted that! (No, I don't recall if it was the parent or the startup, and sadly, I don't have a screenshot.) Anyway, yes, they weren't big on homosexuality, and they were fans of male headship of the family. So fun. There was, interestingly, a line about how complete agreement wasn't necessary for membership in the church.

We don't actually know, still, if the Goulets espouse these beliefs. They're part of the launch team for this church, but I've seen people go to pretty big extremes for churches they don't share beliefs with simply because they like a style of worship better. People put blinders on all the time for things. (Am I making excuses for the Goulets here? I don't know. Maybe I'm trying to be a North Carolinian saying something nice about Virginians for once. I still don't like how they drive.)

Someone also pointed out that fairly recently GPC did advertise products in Pride Month. I don't think it's something they do consistently and the instance someone referenced was in 2022 or something, but that's not a long time ago.

Anyway, that thread was quickly locked, and as far as I can tell, has been deleted. This has not stopped other redditors from making new threads to try and discuss the Goulet Problem further, or to decry the actions of the mods, or to recommend queer-friendly fountain pen stores. These threads are also being locked.

An added bonus is that now without that thread for easy reference--even if it's just locked that means it can't stay at the top for discussion--some people now think Brian was on a podcast saying homosexuality was identical to murder. So! It's a mess! The fountain pen users are pretty cranky. I think that's where we are now, and I think that sums it up, for the most part. I welcome corrections and additional screenshots if people have them. 🫡

And I have not even gotten into the Noodler's thing here. And you know what? I don't think I will.

Billy Loomis

He likes your sense of music and how you like the weird and darkness. Music in the car with him is super fun to listen to. He's more of a rock guy but would listen to goth/metal/grunge. Punk is iffy with him.

You two always watch scary movies together. You remind him of the girls from The Craft (👀 if you know you know).

He doesn't like that it may take you longer to get ready. He huffs and watches you do your hair/makeup. "Do you need that much hairspray?-" he'd ask, cringing at the smell of it. You'd give him a look before using more.

He enjoys that people see you as a threat. He finds it amusing and likes watching others react to you. Especially freshmen in high school, they seem terrified. Sometimes when Billy's behind you as you walk by them he goes "Boo." In a stern voice.

Your fashion. He adores it in an odd way. He watches you layer on a million accessories, sleeves, fishnets, etc. And goes, "you're gonna melt out there-". When he's right he helps de-layer you if you want. He likes dresses and skirts, he's a typical guy and likes it more if it's shorter. If he finds any weird jewelry he might get for you. Or he'll pull you over if you're with him. "look. It has bats." He acts like he doesn't care but he does.

When you first met Billy you thought he was some normal guy. He was popular and slept with a lot of girls. You ignored him a lot which made him more determined. Once you got to talk to him you realized he was cool. He said you reminded him of Elvira and that got your attention. You both ran into each other at Bradley's video. You also both fought over movies ; "It's cheesy-", "No. It's not. It's romantic!", "he's a vampire-".

Hair dying/stick and poke tattoos. He'll help you with the hair dye. But puts towels down everywhere and wears gloves. He doesn't want it in his hair or on him. He makes psycho movie jokes as he watches the hair dye go down the drain. Stick and poke tattoos at first he'd watch you. He'd stare so intensely. Then he'd offer to do it, he'd watch your face react to the needle.

Billy's the kind of guy that remembers small details. He knows your favorite movie, snack, album, outfit, blanket. He doesn't open up like ever. Once you do he may drop little snippets of his life.

Him being Ghostface. You were surprised, he seemed like a nice guy that liked weird things. Before you knew he was Ghostface, Ghostface would call you... A lot. "So what's your favorite scary movie?", "I'm not telling you that. You're a stranger.", "Come on.", "The Craft.", "That's not a scary movie.", "I know.". He knew you were intelligent but didn't know how you'd handle Ghostface. "Why? Wanna ask me out on a date?", "Maybe," "Well too bad I have a boyfriend and he's kinda scary so back off , bitch.". Billy smiled to himself when you said that, he was proud and felt loved. During Act 3 when he unmasked himself you simply stared. Billy just smiled, "You find this attractive don't you?"

Stu Macher

Stu is very supportive of your weirdness. He buys you clothes and jewelry and weird trinkets.

He himself isn't a very alt person. Your music tastes clash and it's kinda funny. One second it's Beasty Boys the next it's The Cure. He may like some rock and some punk.

You in fishnets are his weakness. Big thighs, small thighs, thighs with scars, thighs with hair, he doesn't care. Fishnets are sexy to him. He sees them, he goes feral. Especially if you're wearing shorts or a skirt with them. Even tights and thigh high stockings get him excited.

Dying hair is too much fun with him. You two get it everywhere and Stu ends up having some in his hair. You'd bleach it for him if he wants. He'd also pick out wacky hair colors for you. If you want he'd gel your hair into weird shapes. He laughs and giggles telling you not to look. Let's just say his dad runs out of hair gel.

He jokingly paints his nails black with you. If Billy makes a remark he'd go, "It's the new style. Get with it man!". He's also the man that'd blow on your nails to dry them.

He'd watch scary movies with you. But he talks a lot. He makes remarks during the whole thing. Sometimes you have to shut him up by handing him a beer.

He lets you decorate his house for Halloween. He's definitely more of a Christmas person but he makes a big deal out of Halloween for you. When he throws his Halloween party he gives you all the credit.

If people at school or wherever make remarks he laughs. Not because he agrees but because it's funny they'd think that. If someone calls you a devil worshiper he'd stick his tongue out and say, "Yeah and I'm the devil.". When he's drunk he asks you if you're a Satanist.

He has a morbid and dark humor. Some of you may enjoy that about him.

When Stu started liking you, you were a bit taken back. Like Billy, Stu is a popular guy. But he finds you attractive and genuine unlike Casey, his ex. He'd ask you stupid questions at first ; "Who's funeral?", "Are you depressed or something?". When he realized that only pushed you away he stopped.

If your parents don't like the fact you're goth/alt. Stu would quite literally tell them to shut up. He kinda hates it when other people tell you how to dress. It reminds him of his stuck up family telling him how to dress.

He thinks it's fun to see you do your makeup. He makes shape-shifting jokes, "Oh here they go. Turning into their true form.". Sometimes he'd make jokes about you doing his makeup. Then one day you do, he just mumbles "Please don't tell Billy.". He then poses in the mirror going "I'm so sexy.".

Stu is a Saturday morning cartoon kinda guy. But when you two are together Saturday mornings it's different stuff. The Munsters, Addams Family (Series), Beetlejuice (Series). Beetlejuice is his favorite though.

Him as Ghostface. He'd prank call you. Unlike Billy above who tested you. He'd go, "Nice PJs." While watching you in your house. He'd see it more as a game of hide and seek. He wouldn't actually hurt you, just scare you. During Act 3 when he unmasks himself, it's a bit shocking. I mean Stu is a caring goofy guy. He smiles widely at you and looks a bit crazed.

Tatum Riley

Her music genre is totally different. She won't bash your music taste but she doesn't like it. You two are total opposites and everyone thinks it's adorable.

She's definitely the person to go, "I dress you up and you dress me up!". You both have fun styling each other.

Movie nights would be difficult to agree on. You both like different types of movies but Tatum would definitely love Elvira. She'd be down for a drama thriller. She makes popcorn and gets blankets and is all cozy.

She's the type of girl to give you a bracelet of hers to wear. It's the only pop of bright color. It's her way of claiming you.

She'd definitely paint your nails black for you. Dying hair, totally! She wouldn't be as messy as Stu though. You both do your makeup at the exact same time. Sometimes the mirror gets crowded, but she claims she enjoys doing it with you.

She'd get you weird yet cute gifts. Like those stuffed animals but is a skeleton.

She loves to show off your sense of style. She isn't embarrassed by you at all. If anything she's your guard dog. If anyone made a remark ; "What'd you say? That's what I thought keep it to yourself. Maybe it'll make your dick grow bigger.".

Mall trips are a must with her, she even goes into a hot topic for you. And you go into stores she wants to. She tries to help find your style of clothes. You two also style each other's jewelry.

It wasn't exactly obvious she liked you but there were hints. She used Stu as her man on the inside. She makes him ask you about your crush and stuff like that. He soon gets fed up and reveals her secret. She yells that she was gonna tell you but wasn't sure. (Especially if you're a Fem reader. She doesn't want to make you uncomfortable if you don't date girls.).

You go costume shopping for Halloween together. She's more in the sexy side of the spectrum of costumes.

Sydney Prescott

Sydney found you interesting. You expressed yourself and she enjoyed that. Like Tatum, both of your styles clash. Her room is pink, white, and soft, while yours isn't.

She doesn't really care what people say about you. she rolls her eyes at people and sends Tatum after them She wants to know you for herself. When Sydney's mom died you stood up for her. When all those girls or whatever thought it was her. You two bonded over feeling like a misfit.

Sydney's not a scary movie girl. She would watch the Addams family, Munsters, Elvira, Vampira, stuff like that.

After Ghostface, assuming you'd survive. You two stuck together. She was more protective and aware.

Scream 2 - (If Fem) You two would dorm together. Not for naughty reasons. For safety. She's also the type of girl to get you pepper spray. (If Masc) she'd check on you and call you. She wants to make sure you got back safe.

Scream 3 - she knew you were into scary and weird movies. So it was a bit exciting to be in Hollywood for you. But not under the circumstances.

Randy Meeks

You definitely were on his suspect list. He couldn't explain why you just were.

He was a bit scared of you at first. You never did anything to frighten him. But Randy looks like he's scared of anyone he's attracted to.

You weren't very surprised when he told you he liked you. It was obvious.

He definitely took note of your video rentals at work. Then he'd ask for your opinion, it was the only reason why he had the courage to talk to you.

He likes your sense of style. I mean he's a fashionista himself with his matching green shirt and shoes. He finds it cool and reminds him of his horror movies. Like Stu, he would go feral for any skin showing. Fishnets too. I feel like leather and chains also. It may or may not be kinky but he likes them on you.

When you ask him for help to dye your hair. He asks Tatum for help. She tells him to read the instructions ; "I did. They're stupid. So I just soak their hair with it and wait. Okay got it." Then a couple minutes later ; "Will it stain my skin..? I may have got some on my face.".

Randy doesn't mind being with you in public. If anyone said anything to you he'd mock them. Or do a stupid voice or impression of a character. There's no telling with him.

He watches you do your makeup sometimes. When he does he seems impressed. Like Stu, he thinks you're a shape shifter.

You two love your weird scary movies. You watch them all the time. Randy is just happy to be with someone who enjoys it. He's a cuddler too! He'd cuddle you while you watch your movies.

At Halloween you two thrive. It's you guy's favorite time of the year. Couple costumes are a must. He also still goes trick or treating.

When Ghostface starts killing you two stick together. While he's at work you're chilling with him. If anything strange happens he tells you to call him. At Stus party he warns you ahead of time.

Scream 2 : (if Masc) oh you two definitely formed together. And he took advantage of it. Though your room decor doesn't match his. It was perfect. (If Fem)he practically lived in your dorm. Sydney would have to tell him to leave sometimes.

He's the boyfriend to give you a taser. Not a small one. A police grade taser.

He still shows you off. Now that he's more confident hes more of a guard dog like. He also says he wants to make a movie with a main character like you.

“Mana-sama?” You repeat after him.

Armin had been listening to Malice Mizer non-stop, and was fascinated by Mana-sama. He also had seen you already in the beautiful black dresses traditional of gothic lolita and he was sure you couldn’t look more beautiful. He secretly wished he could completely change at least for one day and look as cute, and though he kept it precisely as a secret, when you two started talking about your shared wish for him to get styled by you, he saw the opportunity and ran with it.

“I want to look like Mana-sama.” He demands as soon as he agrees to your question.

“This is for the books .” You mumble fascinated to yourself, getting off your bed and looking for the ancient looking box under your bed that had the clothes you couldn’t fit in the closet. Before you start looking for one you decide to take his measurements and see which dresses would fit him instead of trying all of them. You ask him to stand up too and after grabbing the measuring tape and tell him to take his knitted sweater off so the measuring is more accurate.

His eyes trace the movements of your hands carefully, still kinda nervous of having you so close. You extend the tape and ask him to lift his arms, then wrap the tape around his chest and tell him the measurement so he can write it down in the little notepad you gave him. You measure the length of this arms, torso, waist and the distance from his waist to his knees; you do not measure anything else, you’ll figure it out without the measurement of his hips.

Now with his measurements you kneel back down and look in the treasure chest for a dress that fits him. Armin is a little taller than you by a few inches, but the difference from his built to yours is still notorious. There is only two dresses that you determine fitting. He chooses the black one and you nod, looking around for the undershirt, stockings, petticoat and other accessories. You explained in what order and how to wear every garment and he nodded hesitantly.

“Here, I will leave the room and you can change, let me know when I can walk back in.” You give him the things and now that the whole thing seems actually serious he gets hesitant.

“This is going to sound very ignorant but is it wrong to wear this?” He asks holding the clothes, adverting his gaze from meeting yours.

“What do you mean?” You asked without completely understanding what was he implying as being possibly wrong. “It’s really just clothes. I don’t think it’s wrong for anyone to wear any clothing unless it is meant to offend someone in any way or if it’s something inappropriate in front of kids or stuff like that.”

“I just don’t want you to think wrong of me… I was too quick to jump and say Mana-sama.” Armin fidgets with the fabric. He doesn’t want to say it and you know what he is trying to say and why.

“I won’t think wrong of you Armin.” You take the clothes off his hands and put them in the bed so you can hold his hands. “I dress like a guy sometimes and that doesn’t mean I am mocking men or I am any less feminine… it doesn’t mean I become gay for it, though I do like girls too but that is not the point…”

He blushes at your words. He had seen you dressing oddly masculine sometimes but had brushed it off as just ambiguous… and he didn’t know the rest.

“You like girls…?” It was almost possible to physically hear his heart stopping and shattering. His mind was already racing to make him overthink.

“I like people, why should I care about what they are if they’re cool.” You summarized and he felt his soul crawling back to his body very embarrassed. It made sense.

“I shouldn’t really be complaining, an essential part of vkei is androgyny and I know it…” His blue eyes are just focused on your hands, his teeth playing nervously with the piercing on his lip. “I’m just insecure… I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay…” You lift your hand from his and place him by his cheek, moving a strand of hair behind his ear, trying to make him look at you and at the same time comfort him by caressing his cheek. “I used to also worry if it made me less of a girl to dress like a guy, but that was just me doubting it. Still if you don’t want to do it there is nothing wrong with it.”

“No, I still want to do it.”

You gave him a smile and let go of his other hand to pull him in for a hug; your arms wrapped around his neck closing the distance. He didn’t know how to react at first, differently to the hugs you’d give him when saying bye, this felt more intimate because you were hugging him tightly. He took a second to reciprocate but eventually he gave in and wrapped his arms around your waist and rested his forehead on your shoulder. Your heart was beating so fast that he could feel you exhaling trying to calm down, but he didn’t notice because he was worried you could feel his unsteady breath on your shoulder from how nervous he was. The hug lasted for a while because you both didn’t want to let go plus you were also afraid of facing each other after such a moment.

“Get dressed and let me know when you’re done.” You pulled away from the hug leaving the dorm and closing the door as fast as humanly possible so he wouldn’t notice the heavy blush on your face.

It took him longer than expected.

“I think I need your help…” He peeked outside the door. You nodded and walked back in the room. He looked so cute that you could’ve had a heart attack.

The problem was that he couldn’t tie the ribbon on the back on the dress that gave form to the shape of the waist.

“I’ll get that for you.” You reassured and stood behind him. Your hands straightened the fabric in the front and moved slowly to the back to rectify that it stayed straight and close to his body, once in the back, you put the lace through the holes crossing it from side to side and once finished you pulled the ribbon to tighten the dress around his body and tied it in a bow. You then moved around to stand facing him and take a look at him. The dress suited him perfectly and though it was intended to be a little longer than other dresses, it seemed normal on him.

“You look so cute!” You praised making him turn around for you to take a closer look. He smiled when hearing you complimenting him. “Now let me continue.”

You made him sit down in the desk and wait while you brought your makeup.

“Isn’t my hair too short?” He wondered and you looked at him.

“Well yeah but we can’t magically make it grow.” You answered but then a sinister idea came to your mind. You looked back on the treasure chest and pulled out a black wig with curls and bangs. “So Mana-sama esque!”

You put the wig cap on his head and opened the makeup bag. You laughed looking at his bangs being out of his forehead for the first time, he looked so handsome…

Proceeding with his makeup you started by applying moisturizer to your hands and gently massaging his face. His face was blushed completely. After some sunscreen, you applied some primer, then concealer to correct some uneven tones in his skin, applied a little blush on his cheekbones upwardly to shorten his face and make him look cuter, then applied your lightest foundation on his face and blended it out.

“Wasn’t the blush after this?” He asked opening his eyes to look at you.

“It’s a cream blush so it’s kind of strong, I put it before the foundation to give it a more natural look. I also don’t like that it’s a warm coral, so after I put some setting spray and translucent powder I will put a little powder blush that has a cool tone to cancel it out. It’s more accurate to your skin tone and it looks very similar to the actual pale pink in which your cheeks blush.”

“Stop!!!” He demanded laughing ashamed and covering his face without actually touching to not ruin the base of the makeup. You laughed softly at how cute he was.

Continuing the makeup you applied some white concealer in his eyelids for the eyeshadow to show more vibrantly and started to do his eyeliner in a way it made his eyes look bigger and rounder, then mascara in his eyelashes and you drew bottom eyelashes to make his eyes look even bigger. Since he asked to look like Mana-sama, the eyeshadow was inspired by one of his looks, you applied a good amount of mascara on his eyelashes. For the lips you put a black lipgloss on his lips and asked him to even it out. To add the last touch you applied again setting spray.

“I feel odd..." He said looking in the mirror while you put the black wig over his head. "It feels wrong in a good way I guess..."

With the black wig on, Armin look like a completely different person. His soft features that were even more softened with the makeup and the curly wig made him look like a girl. And the frilly and poofy dress adorned his body delicately. His blue eyes kept looking over every detail of his new and unfamiliar aspect in the mirror as in trying to digest the whole thing.

From the treasure chest you pulled out all the headpieces that matched the dress and he chose a black headdress, so you secured it to the wig and tied it under his chin.

"Well you are now done, sadly our shoe size is very different and my shoes won't fit you." Finishing twirling around the synthetic curls to define them more and combing with your fingers the bangs over his forehead you said only to move in front of him and take a good look at him. Armin looked stunning, he looked so beautiful that you were even a little envious of how cute he could look.

"I have some black boots." He looked so different that he himself didn't recognize his image and could mistakenly fall in love with the cute girl in the mirror.

"Do you want me to go get them?" You asked and he stood up.

"I think I want to go out like this." He said looking at himself in the mirror for a long time, turning around to see himself from every angle. You turned around surprised, definitely not expecting him to say that.

"Well, let me get dressed and I will show you my favorite spot in town to be cute." You said excited while getting your things. After finishing getting dressed and applying makeup, you made sure to wear tall shoes to be on Armin's height. "Now we are the same size so it doesn't look weird that the "girl" is taller than the "guy"."

"That is so full of prejudice! There are tall girls and I am one of them." He joked pretending to be mad and you couldn't help but laugh.

There is no need to say how shy he was to walk out of your dorm. He had walked in differently and was now walking outside as a total different person. He kept complaining that his white sneakers didn't match the look and was completely embarrassed for it, which to you was nothing but cute; it’d be hard for you in the past to believe you if you said Armin was complaining about his shoes not matching his outfit.

"I love your fit." On the entrance of your dorm some girl told him and he nodded smiling too nervous to speak. You two walked from your building to his, he got a few looks from people passing by and you had to remind him that they were looking at him because he looked like he had escaped from a magical girls anime and not because they knew it was actually honors student Armin Arlert crossdressing through campus.

Once at his dorm, you sat down in the living room while he looked for the shoes in his room but then you both heard the very far away but approaching loud voice of Eren.

"What do we do!?" Armin started panicking and though it made you laugh initially you tried to not do so to not make him feel bad.

"Calm down, get into the bathroom and call Eren, tell him you gave me the keys to pick something up... and that I brought over a friend because she needed to use the bathroom." Pushing him into the bathroom you said.

Armin called Eren and said exactly what you told him, so when the door started to open, the brunette already knew and wouldn't be surprised at your presence in his place.

"Oh my god! I can finally meet you!" Eren jumped to shake your hand once he saw you, his green eyes looking you up and down and mentally taking a note agreeing with Armin's scarily accurate description of you. "Armin is so evil for not letting me, his basically brother, meet you before. I'm..."

"Eren, I know." You smiled and he nodded. After some small talk you realized that if you didn't stop him, Eren would talk your ears off. "Uhm, I think we need to get going to meet Armin, right Tiffany?"

You knocked in the bathroom door and for long minutes Armin stayed quiet, but eventually he came out, with the shoes already on.

"That is your friend?" Eren asked, probably referring to what Armin had told him in the call.

"Yeah, her name is Tiffany and she is a... uhm... childhood education major." You made the story up, knowing that behind all that foundation Armin was insanely red. "But yeah... we need to go, I don't want Armin waiting too long, it was nice meeting you Eren."

You rushed out of the door holding Armin's wrist.

"Bye!" He said in the door seeing you both run away. "Bye Tiffany!"

Once out of the sight of Eren, you both started laughing.

"Tiffany? Seriously?" Armin asked kinda out of breath. “Quit it Tiffany, that is your new persona when you are wearing lolita.” You affirmed to him while trying not to laugh. With the boots on, his coordinate looked more complete.

You two walked the longish way to the bus stop and waited while listening to Best of Blood. In the bus you taught him how to act like a noble from the eighteenth century. Initially he wanted to speak with an accent but he decided to follow Mana-sama’s example and just don’t talk at all.

“Hey uhm… I hope this doesn’t come off as weird but you are very pretty… could I possibly take you on a date?” While walking to the mystery place to told him about, a guy wearing the varsity jacket of your university approached him while you were looking t the window of a store. Armin looked at you with a mix of panic and laughter that he could barely contain on his face.

“Yo she has a boyfriend bro…” You grabbed Armin’s hand and tried to speak with a lower tone than the normal one of your voice.

“I’m so sorry bro, no hard feelings.” The guy seemed genuinely sorry and even offered his hand to dab you up as he assumed you were the alleged boyfriend and left completely embarrassed.

For a second you both stayed quiet, seeing the guy walk away.

“Did that guy just hit on me?” Armin slowly said, turning a little to see you. It felt odd for him to see you being slightly taller than you. “It appears so. too bad Tiff is cuffed.” You said showing your hand over his and laughing but he didn’t laugh. His heart was racing and there was only so much the foundation on his face could do to cover his severe blush. The awkward feeling of another man trying to take him, or more accurately, trying to take Tiffany on a date was completely erased when you jumped to help him implying that you two were dating. You implied that you two were dating.

It didn’t matter to him that you said you were Tiffany’s boyfriend, if he was a girl and you were a guy he’d date you, he’d also date you if he was a girl and you were a girl too, hell he would date you even if you were a guy because as long as it was you it didn’t matter to him what you were as long as it was you, because he liked and loved you and every aspect of your personality, plus you could really rock anything you were or decided to be.

“Yeah.” Armin managed to respond, too lost in his head to formulate a proper reply. His hand slowly grabbing yours back as you started walking —still holding hands— towards the place you had told him about.

“We’re here.” You said opening the door for him, as a true “gentleman” and he thanked you.

“Tea house.” He read from the sign in the door.

There was some French song playing in the store while you two sat down, both in the booth side of the table. The air felt tense as if both of you wanted to do something, anything, grab the other’s hand, maybe throw in for a hug, or even lean for a kiss… The growing feeling inside you both started to turn unbearable, a kind of heartache that came only from longing so hard that the months you had known each other for felt eternal and equivalent to a whole lifetime of being fathoming about the love you had for the other.

When the tea and pastries arrived, Armin saw his reflection on the golden liquid in the ceramic cup, easily mistaken his true self for Tiffany, but he still could see himself in his eyes, his self that had something against him and would not let him believe for any reason that you could like him back; there was some sort of insurrection because a strange shine in his eyes screamed for him to do something.

Mods I Use and Recommend!

I love mods and my game is modded to the hells as far as cosmetics and some gameplay. Here is a list of most if not all the mods I use or recommend! 

Disclaimers: I use BG3MM, not Vortex, so I don't know how modding works with that. Also all the mods will let you know how they can be downloaded ei through a mod manager like BG3MM or if they need to go to the /data folder! Read through their page to see how! Also as with any mod to games, be aware they can break your game. These mods stay updated for the most part and haven't broken my game really either. If you have any issues, most of the time the creator can assist, or a simple uninstall of the mod in BG3MM and deleting it and reinstalling it, works, unless it's a Patch issue which the creator will be aware of most of the time lol.

🌊Silkina the Waveservant Bard

Silkina has gotten to the Underdark safely and is currently on her way to visit the mushies! Nothing super exciting has happend that's worth mentioning, but I did finally do a photoshoot with her and Wyll which was very fun. I also downladed a pirate outfits mod and so she has a few new outfits and accessories that are ocean themed! I also changed her outfit to the wavemother dress but an alt version of it. I wish it didn't clip weirdly at the arm pits, but what can ya do?

✨Solenia the Drow Cleric of Elistraee

Solenia and Silkina are in the exact same spot lol Well, Solenia is a little further along and at Grymforge!

The biggest change is that I decided to have fun with Solenia's hair lmao I have a cool anime-ish, Final Fantasy-esque hair mod that had this spiky pontail situation and I really wanted to use it for someone. Solenia felt like a good choice lmao She's still not exactly romancing anyone atm but she'll probably go for Halsin depending on how that all goes!

She's very adamant about saving the slaves in the Underdark and helping the gnomes and it's my first time really doing that, so woo! Oh she also saved Bolen which was a first for me lmao Usually Efenity just blows up the whole area and steals the stuff that was in his bag 🥲

🌩️Efenity the Storm Sorcerer

Changed her hair and outfit YET. AGAIN. I just have to accept that I will never not change it every couple of days lmaooo

Anyway, she's the furthest along out of everyone because she's my comfort Tav and I get lost in her playthroughs 🥲yes the playthroughs with my Evil Tav being the worst person alive are somehow my comfort playthroughs... I don't get it either. Plus, I kinda follow a "routine" with her since I have a storyline she goes through, so it's familiar after doing it 6 times and still never getting past the final fight.

She has gone through the gauntlet of Shar, the whole shadow cursed lands, fought and defeated Yurgir and his minions, and I left off with her and Astarion getting the news about his scars from Raphael.

I love this conversation because it's one of the first moments Efenity's perspective on Astarion's situation can be directly acted out/spoken. She's always like "SO... there's a way to become a living vampire. Jot that down cause we are coming back to that. Cazedor is a POS and we gon' take him down."

🍃Enyana the Dryad (wood elf Druid)

Enyana's a little behind the others, but she JUST got to the Underdark! And I mean JUST got there.

She saved Halsin and I've been enjoying her and Gale a lot.

There's a sort of timid but curious vibe between them (at least, in my head lmao) that makes me happy. Can't wait to get to more romance scenes with him!

The Girly Guide to dressing like a Doll

Hello dolls!!! I’ve been neglecting this blog so bad recently but it totally isn’t on purpose. I’m in like my last month of school so everything has been going by really fast and I just haven’t had the time to write. I like to think of it as a good thing because now I have a whole bunch of ideas and drafts for the future ^_^. Today's post is about how to dress like a doll. It's not really gonna be very specific on how to dress a certain way but instead give you an idea on how to use cute doll-like elements in your wardrobe to help you achieve that cute dolly look. I’m going to include some pictures of what I'm going to talk about to help get a better picture of the concept as a whole. I post on my tiktok a lot and always get comments about my style and how I just put together my outfits in general. So here's a way to start dressing like the you really want to be.

1. Know what colors you like and what colors you don’t like.

I know it sounds simple but it can be quite complicated if you only wear one color. Personally I stick to 3 or 4 colors I know I will always look good in: pink, purple, white, and black. These are my signature colors that make up most of my wardrobe. If you can pick a few colors you know you will wear that will make it easier when you’re actually trying to find clothes you like.

2. Don’t limit yourself to one style/aesthetic

I had this mindset at first that I would only stick to one style for the rest of my life and would never change it ever. That works well for some people but not me. There are so many styles and fashion elements to try out and just sticking to one is kind of limiting in my opinion. Of course it's fine if you want to stick to one style or aesthetic but before deciding on one i highly suggest trying out different ones.

3. Have staple pieces in your wardrobe.

Sure statement pieces are beautiful and amazing to have but staple pieces are just as if not more important. I suggest having 2 or 3 regular t-shirts in the colors you like, 2 pairs of jeans/pants, 1 or 2 skirts, and a dress. These pieces are more than enough in the realm of simple and fabulous especially if you accessories them the right way. Plus you can easily mix and match them with statement pieces.

4. Shoes, shoes, SHOES!!!

At first I didn't understand the importance of shoes but god do I now. I love shoe shopping. When I first started my deep dive into fashion I focused on the clothes instead of the shoes and that was kind of a mistake lol. Shoes can elevate any outfit from a 5 to a 10. I like to have a pair of white and black shoes in my wardrobe at all times. Also as I got older I started to add heels and platforms into the mix because a casual look can also be super cute with a great pair of heels or platforms. Starting out I suggest a pair a black and white sneakers and if you like heels and pair of black heels

5. Have an inspo for how you want to look like

I know above I said don’t limit yourself but sometimes having an inspo or guide for the look you’re going for is really helpful. I personally have so many (i’ll include a few). This by no means mean copy a persona to the t but take aspects of their style and incorporate them into yours to help it develop into a style you like. Personally my inspo is monster high, alternative fashion, video vixens from the early 2000s, a lot of megan fox characters (jennifer check, carla santini, mikeala baens), vampires, elle woods, barbie, london tipton, sharpay evans, harajuku fashion, girly anime/video characters, 2000s horror movies, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Megan Good. As you can see it's a pretty good mix or like preppy pink and alt fashion and there is nothing wrong with mixing them together.

6. ACCESSORIZE!

God do I love accessorizing, it is my second favorite part about getting dressed (other than doing my makeup). The first thing I think you should do is pick which metals you like, by this i mean gold or silver. I personally love silver jewelry and only wear silvery. Due to this most of the jewelry I buy is silver, pink, and black. I also have quite the bag collection, mostly black and white (I just bought a new pink bag that I'm so excited about). I wouldn't say have one bag for every occasion but do have like 2 or 3, personally i love a little baguette or crossbody bag. Also invest in some sunglasses. They’re sups cute and protect your eyes from the sun.

7. Makeup can be a literal lifesaver

Makeup is literally my favorite thing ever. I love getting dressed up and doing my makeup. It's just so therapeutic to me. If I don't like the outfit that I'm wearing, I can just do my makeup and I'll feel so much better about it. I have a post on some of my makeup favorites as a starting point if you have no clue about makeup. I can also recommend some youtube videos if you guys want.

But most importantly have CONFIDENCE! Confidence is the key to looking and feeling amazing as long as you work to be the best version of yourself and stay true to yourself. That's all it really takes to be a doll. I plan on making more posts like this soon because I really enjoy sitting down and just writing helpful little posts like this. Neon Frights review:

Okay so Neon Frights aka the most anticipated Skulltimate Secrets line up and I finally have them all, so what do I honestly think of them? overall I would give this Skulltimate line a 7 out of 10. I loved this line a lot and it's personally my favorite of the 3 that have released but there are a few glaring issues that bring it down for me as a whole.  Anyway let's get into it!

The positives:

▪ The SHOES omg I love them so much I love how some of the pairs are comparable to Demonias which feels like a callback to MH's more alt fashion staples while keeping G3's new choice of styling of bold colors intact 

▪The pet themed hoodies were so adorable I love the mesh sleeves on them especially my only issue though is I wish they were more detailed and they were easier to get over the ghouls heads

▪Loved the bold designed pleather skirts all of them looked cool

▪Love the overall bold color schemes on the dolls and their lockers were even masterfully done

▪All of the character jewelry and accessories were super cute and showed off the element of each characters personalities super well

▪The makeup looks were soo fierce and cunty they added so much to the entire line

The negatives:

▪The poly hair every ghoul is cursed with in this line. I loved the bold cuts and colors but oh my gosh the hair quality is HORRIBLE. This line is $30 dollars there is no reason a doll worth that much should have worse hair quality than the MH budget dolls.

▪I'm more neutral on this but I personally did not like the harness gimmick they were very cute on Frankie and Draculaura but over all they don't match or really add anything to this line? idk I would have scrapped that for a different accessory.

▪Absolutely hated the two tone pleather shorts. They were totally boring and lifeless compared to the rest of the boldness of the line and doesn't really read as a relaxing considering how stiff they are on the dolls. I think if they were fabric and more styled they may have been cuter.

▪Another reoccurring issue I don't like about Skulltimate Secrets is how they managed to make the earrings all hang sticking out to the sides so awkwardly when the other dolls don't have the earrings set in like this.

Doll rating:

Twyla: ☆☆☆☆ I thought this doll was gorgeous from the dark makeup to her entire outfits and accessories the only thing I despised about the doll was the horrid dry poly hair quality it fell out and broke so badly everytime I brushed it to the point I am considering commissioning a reroot it bothers me that much :/

Ghoulia:☆☆☆☆ I just loved the gamer girl aesthetic they went with for Ghoulia and the shade of green on all of her accessories and clothes though her pixel glasses were bent from how they packaged her and so they wouldn't stay on and also I hated the two tone shorts and blue harness that didn't match.

Toralei: ☆☆☆ I loved her bold makeup and short hair and most of her clothes however I don't think they balanced her colors very good it was just too much orange and I didn't like how her tail was removable instead of having the clothes have the hole for it.

Frankie: ☆☆☆☆☆ I think Frankie knocked this line out of the park the bold colors suits their character so well and they did not disappoint! I love the hot pink color pop on the side shave and eyebrow piercing it stands out so well with all of the other colors. I am inlove from head to toe Frankie pops out being totally in their element :)

Draculaura: ☆☆☆ I was probably most disappointed with Draculaura honestly I think they half heartedly slapped a doll together of her to be included in just because she is a fan favorite and big seller (especially true since she is in every SS line up even the upcoming Ballerina one). I loved her shoes, the pink bat top, and the black skirt with yellow straps but aside from that the design falls kinda flat. I think with the reintroduction of yellow in her color pallet giving her full neon pink hair would have been better suited.

To sum it up I think this line is still one of the best G3 has come up with but as a whole I wish they would do away with polypropylene and put more effort in the clothing pieces for $30 dollars it feels a little disappointing when you pay a lot for a doll and aren't satisfied with the obvious cheap quality.

Enjoy below! I decided to do the main set of brothers and Dust too! Maybe even a special set of guest since I think of them from time to time,,,

Vanilla: He likes clothing with a lot of layers, more bagginess, and clothes that prioritize comfort. He's not very stylish but he's gotten a hold of some clothes that help him get more in touch with what's "fashionable." He's not someone who likes a tight fit, usually directed towards casual wear, and he's often seen wearing shades of blue, grey, or white

Cyperus: The more expressive the style, the better. He's not one to shy away from color, and he prefers really anything he finds cool. He can be seen with his red scarf of course, and with that he's given a lot to work with! Sure, it can be far from fancy, but he likes it whether it's super simple or super "everywhere!" As long as he likes it, it's perfect for his artsy and sometimes classic fashion tastes

Powder: He has a bit of style thanks to being older, meaning that he's had time to figure out his style and being able to have others in the house help him with fashion. He likes a good business casual wardrobe, something that he can look good in and feel good in. Sporty street wear is also a style he loves and he'll often be seen wearing blues, blacks, white, and even sometimes orange since it reminds him of his brother

Stretch: He likes casual street wear that has layers and brighter colors. Hes expressive with androgynous 70's and 90's fashion, and anything with oranges or yellows. He likes comfort, but he's a little more aware of his tastes and he's not afraid to get dressed up as long as it's not a super tight fit.

Red: Any alt style fits him best since I think styles like emo, punk, or grunge all suit him. Overall it depends on the day and style of clothing he's willing to put on! Most of the time, he's too lazy, so grunge is an expressive style that he doesn't have to be uncomfortable in! Layers are a definite comfort and he can vary from wearing reds, blacks, and even purple

Pitch: He's one of the most style conscious skeletons in the household, so you'll see him sometimes fluctuate between styles. It's always something elegant or more straight and defined. Reds are his favorite to dress up in, but he's open to anything with darker colors or cooler themes. Formal wear and classic wear is his favorite exploration, but he can be coaxed to wear something bold and different if he likes it.

Saint: He's always about comfort, simplicity, and the occasional color that differs from bright and bold. He will go for casual fits, grunge occasionally, or vintage style clothes he finds at the thrift store. He's not hard to please since a good shirt and pair of pants work too, and he will usually add layers for comfort and extra protection. He will usually also wear long sleeves, but he just doesn't pay too much attention about how it's a habit for him

Lunar: He really likes vintage style clothing and like Cyperus, he also enjoys artsy styles that help with forms of expression. He's cheap and good at finding clothes at thrift stores, always willing to sew it up or combine comfort with style. Androgynous clothing in shades of pretty reds, browns, and whites are also something he's fond of as long as it can fit with his scarf

Carmine: Lets talk about business styles and how he can range from casual to form fitting. He likes it sleek, fashionable, humble, yet occasionally bold. He's just as fashion conscious about his looks in the same way Pitch is, which means the two share similar styles. Unlike Pitch, however, he wears more gold and his clothes usually are paired with little to no accessories in comparison. He's a skeleton all about appearance, and that means he has to always either fit right in or stand out as someone who's more collected and confident

Rus: Androgyny to him is what best defines him other than grunge or biker clothing. He's not afraid to stand out for wearing tears, skirts, strapped tops, etc. He really loves exploring clothes that are prominently orange and red, but he's not against the occasional purple. He likes it layered, tight, loose, simple, complex, etc as long as it's not too bright and overstimulating. He wants to look cool, and he will accomplish that whether that means going thrift shopping for clothes or getting Carmine to indulge him with extra cash he can work to earn later

Razz: He will always wear more business, formal clothes with a lot of accessories. He wears golds, blacks, purples, and he really likes that he's able to spend good money on deals that leave his wardrobe fancy. He's also willing to put on more of a pop to his fashion unlike Cash, even if that means drawing in unwanted attention. He doesn't mind though, he will always flex his attire when he can tell someone is just staring at him which causes his ego to grow and makes him preen at the attention

Cash: Casual street wear is his every day style but he's not afraid to admit how simple he likes something or how he's able to go in public without causing too many eyes on him. Unlike Rus, he leans less on the idea of wearing skirts often and he also has more purples, greens, and oranges in his style. Really, 90's style also influences him, especially since he can find good deals at thrift stores this way. He picks clothes that he knows will draw a bit more attention than the average monsters, but he overall likes what he likes and if that also means wearing meme shirts then so be it

Wine: Fancy business, formal, military, or academic style clothing is where hes at his best. He makes sure to always be dressed in fancy attire that's tight, direct, and perfectly expensive enough to let him flex since he has so much money dedicated just for clothes. He rarely wears the same thing twice and he's sure as hell not going to change that. He was the one to coax Vanilla to actually dress up more since the two often exchanged deals on letting him dress Vanilla up in exchange to having a day dedicated to trying new things

Coffee: Layers of comfortable fabric is what he likes to wear a lot since he's rarely ever willing to change out of his favorite hoodie. However, Wine loves to dress him in academic clothing or elegant types of formal wear. He wears the most browns on his outfits in the house to feel less overstimulated in too, unless the occasional orange or yellow sparks his interest. Interestingly, he also tends to wear the most minimalist style of clothing and he chose this on purpose to let Wine piece together outfits that don't feel overwhelming to him with all their patterns, textures, etc

Dust: He for a long time refused to change his hoodie or scarf out until way later. He still wears his scarf, but he's more willing to wear more casual, minimalist clothing with more dulled colors or grunge since Red got him to grow into liking the style. He finds ways to hide his face still but I already headcanon that his face becomes more and more visible as time moves on so outfits with hats are a pleasant thing for him that can also feed into that headcanon. He doesn't pick specific styles or colors unlike some of the others, but hes okay with that. As long as he can dress up well and hide most of his face, shit you could even get him to dress in formal wear if you're able to find a way to keep the scarf

Cupid: Tight fitting clothes in glamorous, elegant outfits is what he lives for. He's the most style conscious person and he will always dress to impress. The only time he's not wearing something that pops with color and fancy, sleek fashion is when he's having an off day or if he needs new clothes since he rarely wears the exact same outfit twice. He loves accessories and he will definitely aim for pink colors

Desi: Desi likes elegant, romantic, and more feminine outfits overall that pop with pinks, cream, and wealth. He isn't afraid to wear comfy clothing, but he always needs to look good even when relaxing in his opinion. He has accessories of his own, and he likes any clothes that have a cute look to them. He won't go thrift shopping, but he's been given some of his favorite clothes or accessories from Lunar since he sometimes will receive such gifts from there. Sure it's not his taste to go there, but Lunar was considerate enough and that makes Desi teary eyed to begin with so he'll try to wear those gifts often

Val in the AH Part 4: In Which Val is Auctioned

The next morning was full of activity, tired-looking vampires corralled the humans, some alone and some in a group, out of the cells. Val felt nervous, crowds and commotion had always put them on edge, it made it harder to focus on who they needed to and hear what they were being told to do. They were thankful that things had quieted down a bit by the time Lily walked up to their cell. 

“Hello, Val,” Lily said. “I have a feeling you’re going to be one of our bestsellers this year so I arranged to be your handler for the auction.” 

“Thank you, sir.” Val stood up as Lily unlocked the door to their cell. 

“Let’s get you to the showers and cleaned up quick so we can get you dressed in something nicer than that old uniform.” 

Val scrubbed themself clean quickly and was then led, wrapped in towels, to a dressing room. They looked around and saw elaborate and extravagant dresses hanging on clothes racks all around the room. Val had never worn something so fancy, and really didn’t think they’d be comfortable in a dress like that. But if this was what the auction entailed, they would endure it and hope they weren’t expected to dress up like this every day. 

“Florence,” Lily called out, and an older woman emerged from behind a row of dresses. “I’ve brought Lot Twenty-Three, their name is Val.” 

Florence looked Val over and unwrapped the towel around their hair. “Hmm, that’ll need a trim. Lily, did you have any particular plans for them?”

Lily yawned from the chair she’d found. “Nothing specific, but I think something striking to make them stand out will catch the eye of the right sort of vampire.”

“Well let’s get started then.” Florence led them to a stool in the center of the room and went to go grab a box of makeup and hair products. 

Lily got up from the chair. “I’ll be back after Florence is done with you, Val.” She turned to Florence. “Their word is ‘safe’ but you’re not going to need it. They follow instructions beautifully and haven’t resisted anyone here even once.” 

“Oh I do love it when the merchandise is smart enough to be well-behaved,” Florence replied. After Lily left, she turned back to Val. “Sit up straight and pay attention.” 

Val obeyed as Florence picked out several dresses and brought them over to Val. “Something simple and more modern is going to make you seem more unique, it’ll be the accessories that make you truly memorable. Now, which dress can you see yourself in?” 

“You want me to choose?” Val asked, slightly alarmed. 

“Only the dress, dear child, then I’ll take whatever you pick and make you look as good as possible.” 

Val scanned the dresses. Their eyes landed on a plain black one that looked fitted but not tight enough to restrict movement. There were no sleeves, only thin red ribbons acting as straps that stood out like a beacon against the other colors. The neck and bottom hem of the dress were adorned with small red jewels that would catch the light nicely. Val pointed to the dress. “I’ve been told that red is my color,” they said hesitantly. 

“Excellent choice!” Florence exclaimed, returning the other dresses to the appropriate racks. She returned to Val and placed a hand on their face. “Now drop. Still and calm and docile.” 

Florence’s commands felt a lot more blunt and abrupt than Lily’s did, but Val didn’t resist, allowing their mind to be utterly blank as Florence used tweezers and hot wax to shape their eyebrows. Then she trimmed their hair so it was no longer touching their neck, and styled it to have volume without looking frizzy or messy. Next makeup was put on them, and then the dress was slipped on over their shoulders. Florence then picked out several accessories to add to Val’s outfit. As the preparations continued, Val barely registered anything that Florence was doing until they were looking at themself in the mirror. 

The dress had been quickly altered to fit them perfectly, and their now short hair was pulled back from their face with red and gold bejeweled clips. There was a thin layer of makeup on their face, a slight blush to their cheeks and ruby lipstick on their lips. A red sash had been tied around their waist and red strips of velvet were twisted around their lower arms. They looked truly striking. 

Florence walked back over and held out a pair of gold handcuffs with red and black ribbons wrapped around them and braided through the connected chain. “Give me your hands, now. We don’t want someone trying to steal you away without paying.” 

Val obeyed. 

“There. You look absolutely perfect.” Florence said, studying them. A flicker of happiness and gratitude cut through the blankness in Val’s mind. Florence then led them through a bustling hallway and into a room where Lily was waiting. She was also dressed up, but not nearly as thoroughly as Val. 

“Oh, Florence, this is amazing!” Lily exclaimed as she stood. “They’ll stand out like blood on a snowdrift.” 

“Oh Lily, you flatter me.” Florence handed over the leash of Val’s handcuffs. “Now I need to go help with some last minute revisions to some of the other merchandise. Let me know how much this one goes for.”

“Of course.” Lily turned to Val as Florence left and looked deep into their eyes. “Show the other vampires how well you can obey and submit to them for me.”

Val nodded, absolutely mesmerized. They wanted nothing more than to show how good they were at doing what they were told. If they sold for a lot it would make Lily happy, and the more they made everyone happy the safer they would be. 

A series of vampires filtered in and out of the room, looking Val over. Several seemed to be looking for a thrall to treat as a pet, which Val felt would be easy but probably a bit boring. Others were looking for someone to see to every household chore or other bit of work they didn’t want to do themselves, which Val felt a little anxious about. They hadn’t done very well at chores at home. They could maintain the house on a daily basis well enough but it often left Val tired enough to do a sloppy job cooking dinner afterwards. Despite Lily commanding them to believe they would be a good thrall, they couldn’t imagine doing well if they had to clean, cook for themself, and do whatever busy work was needed for however the vampire that owned them made money. What would be great was some sort of middle ground between a servant and a pet. 

“Oh what an inspired look!” said the vampire that walked in next as he looked Val over. He was also dressed pretty strikingly. A suit with a royal blue vest, blue gemstone buttons and cufflinks, and a blue scarf around his neck. His fingernails were painted gold and flecks of gold shone in his wavy black hair and on his scarf. “Whoever chose this dress has excellent taste.” 

Something about this man’s energy made Val feel happy. And more willing to take risks. “I could say the same about you, sir,” Val replied, sensing he would react well to compliments. 

The man looked delighted. “Oh, you’ve let this one keep a good taste for fashion, at least.” He smiled wide. “What’s your name, then?” 

“Val, sir.” 

“Sweet valentine, you’ve been dressed up perfectly. But with your complexion and hair I doubt there’s much you look bad in. That’s an important factor for me. Anyone I’m seen with in public will be held to a certain standard of bold beauty.”

“Thank you, sir.” Val hadn’t heard any other vampire so much as imply they’d be permitted to leave their residence if purchased by them. Plus, he’d just, if indirectly, called them beautiful. “If I may ask, what is your name?” 

“It’s Hector, dear,” Hector said, hooking a finger under their chin and lifting it. His eyes were bright and intoxicating, his subtle gold eyeshadow highlighting the lighter brown flecks and making them almost glow. Val felt like he was daring them to impress him. “And I am in desperate need of a suitable thrall. So many of the pretty ones have all the entertaining parts of their thoughts erased, but so far you’re still interesting, and seem perfectly capable of taking care of yourself. It’s so tedious taking care of a pet thrall that can do little more than stare at you lovingly. If I wanted a lap-dog I’d buy a beagle.” 

Val was starting to understand. Hector did want a pretty obedient pet to flaunt, but he didn’t want blind adoration. He wanted someone he could engage with and show off to. “I can handle my own care, sir, and I believe I’m much more entertaining than a beagle.” Val mirrored Hector’s wicked smile. 

Hector laughed heartily and turned to Lily. “Oh this one is excellent. But are you sure they’re conditioned enough to follow orders?”

“Oh absolutely,” Lily reassured. “They were so open to the enthrallment that their mind has been almost completely preserved, but they’ll do whatever is asked of them without resistance.” 

“Hmm, someone that doesn’t fight the enthrallment might be fun. But I think I’ll need to test their obedience before making a decision.” Hector dropped Val’s chin and looked them in the eyes. “Keep looking into my eyes, and stay still.”

There was only a slight mental tug to obey, but Val did so nonetheless. Hector leaned in very close then put a hand on either side of Val’s face. He pressed a thumb to their mouth and dragged it across their face, smearing their lipstick up their cheek in a cartoonish half-grin. He then took out a handkerchief, spit on it, and roughly scrubbed the lipstick off of their face and mouth. Val did not outwardly react. Hector grinned.

“I’ll kindly ask you to stop manhandling the merchandise, Hector,” Lily scolded. 

Hector put his hands up in surrender and then backed away. “As you wish.” He looked back at Val. “I’m a bit rusty on the etiquette for these things. I tend to avoid auction houses but I’ve found no suitable thrall candidates in the wild and it’s been quite some time since I was able to taste fresh blood. Especially from one who’s never been bitten before,” he said in a low voice. He lifted a hand to stroke the skin of Val’s neck where it met their shoulder. Val’s breath hitched at the barely-there but positively electric way his fingers ghosted over their pulse point. “Such pretty virgin flesh just begging to be torn into and marked. I could make constellations of punctures in your skin and trace the lines between them with my tongue. What do you think of that?”

Val didn’t know what they thought. Their heart was racing with a jumbled mix of emotions. Hector’s words sounded sadistic, cruel… intimate. They wanted to make him happy, to obey. So they should say something, what sort of response did he want? It didn’t matter because all Val could do was picture what he had described and a strange haze of desire was settling over their mind as Hector’s wide grin showed off his fangs. Then he laughed again and the spell was broken, leaving Val flustered and confused. 

“I do believe you are just the spark my home needs, little valentine.” Hector abruptly began walking towards the door, but he stopped at the last second and turned back. “I’ll be seeing you soon.” 

As soon as he was gone Lily went over to Val and reapplied their lipstick. “We’re lucky I keep an extra tube in my purse,” she said with a sigh. “There’s nothing I can do about the foundation and blush though. What an arrogant man.”

“I hope he’ll be the one to buy me,” Val said absentmindedly. His gleefulness around leaving holes in their skin aside, he was the only one they’d felt any kind of draw towards. He was easy to understand, he would value both their eagerness to please and their freedom of thought, he didn’t seem to expect much labor, and something in his eyes spoke of the sense of adventure Val had always secretly longed for. It seemed like a good match.

“He does seem to be in the market for a companion thrall.”

“I think I’ll be able to make him happy, sir.” 

“Well then we’ll hope this stunt with your makeup was a tactic to drive away any other interested parties.” 

Val tried to think more clearly for a moment. Despite their instant fondness for Hector, something was still nagging at the back of their mind. “Do you think he’d treat me well, sir?”

“I can’t see why not, he seemed to like you very much.”

“It’s just… the way he talked about tearing into my skin…”

“Relax and don’t worry, Val.” Lily said, and Val felt the warm secure feeling wash over them, sending them back into that familiar calm haziness. “I guess I forgot to mention since most thralls outright ask about it, but I’ve reinforced your instinctual reaction to vampiric auras during our sessions, you just weren’t awake for it. It’s very likely you won’t feel pain when fed on, and even if it does hurt a bit, you’ll be too enthralled to care.”

“Oh,” Val said. This was a significant relief. They had been trying not to think about the inevitability of being bitten by a vampire. They knew it wouldn’t kill them, since Colette and Lily both talked about a vampire wanting to keep them long-term, and they had figured any amount of pain was endurable in exchange for the feeling they got from following orders. But not having to worry about that made them feel lighter. And if Hector’s vivid imagery wasn’t about causing pain… 

“In fact,” Lily continued. “For many thralls, the experience is immensely pleasurable. Think of it as the ultimate act of obedience.”

“O-Oh,” Val repeated. That certainly put his words in a new light. 

“That got some color back in your cheeks,” Lily commented. She stepped aside as another vampire entered the room. 

Val was still dazed from Lily’s command to relax and the new information they were processing, so they were glad that this was the last vampire to see them before the auction proper. After some time waiting Val was led by the chain on their handcuffs to the backstage of an auditorium. They tried to stand up straight and keep a neutral expression as they were led out onto the stage and the bidding started. 

Val couldn’t see the crowd’s faces, they had no idea who was bidding on them. It felt like it took way too long and not nearly long enough for the auctioneer to say “Sold!”

The tension and anticipation was threatening to make Val freeze up. Everything felt far away and unreal. The rest of their life had just been decided and they had no idea what it would look like. It was all too uncertain. 

“To the man with the shiny blue cufflinks!” the auctioneer added. 

Val started to breathe again, and a relieved smile spread across their face. Lily led them to a small office. 

“Well, it looks like you got what you wanted!” Lily said. “How do you feel?” 

“Very happy, sir,” Val replied. “And very tired.” Now that the adrenaline of uncertainty was wearing off Val was starting to feel how sore their bare feet were and how very much they’d like to rest. 

Just then the door opened and Hector was led in by Colette. Hector gave a little wave to Val. “Hello my valentine.”

His emphasis on the possessive made Val smile in further relief. 

“Not yours until you sign and pay,” said Colette. 

Hector briefly looked over the paperwork he was handed and signed each page.  “There’s that. The money transfer should go through by tomorrow night, I assume I won’t get to take them home until then.” 

“Correct,” Colette responded. 

“A shame. The hustle and bustle of the auction has left me tired and hungry and I’d prefer something fresh.” Hector winked at Val and their breathing stuttered. 

“Would you like any specific training or conditioning done while we still have them?” Colette asked. 

Hector looked Val over thoughtfully. “How are you at laundry?”

Val took a breath to compose themself. “Decent, I believe. Average. I have a lot of practice.” 

Hector nodded. “I don’t think anything additional is necessary.” 

“Then make any final inspection of the merchandise you’d like and our business will be concluded.” 

Hector looked over at Val again. “Take off the dress. I’d like to look for scars and other flaws so I know if I need to charge these people for damages when I get you home.”

After Lily helped Val out of their dress, Hector circled them, cataloging every freckle, every skin tag. He seemed a bit put off by the old cooking burn on their upper thigh. “How did this damage occur?” 

“A hot oven,” Val answered. 

“When?” 

“More than ten years ago.” 

“Why did it scar so badly?”

“I didn’t know how to treat it properly.” 

“Hmm.” Hector stood and hooked a finger under Val’s chin. “If you are ever damaged in the future, I want to know about it as soon as possible. I know a lot about preventing scarring.” 

“Yes, sir,” Val responded. They were happy Hector hadn’t changed his mind about them. 

“I’ll see you tomorrow night,” Hector said to Val. He then said his goodbyes to Lily and Colette and Lily led Val back to the room with the cells. 

“Now,” Lily said. “What would you like for dinner? You made me a nice little sum today so I’ll get you whatever you want.” 

Val thought for a moment as they walked back into their cell. “Steak, sir?” 

“Excellent choice!” Lily said, locking the door. “It’ll make your blood taste better.” 

Val sat on their cot and thought about their future. A few days ago they had been dreading dealing with a family they’d probably never see again, and now they’d be spending the rest of their days in service to Hector. And thanks to Lily they didn’t have to worry constantly about making him angry. They knew that they should at the very least rationally consider themself worse off now but… Hector seemed fun. Before, in their old life, having to be around someone like that would be disheartening at best. They weren’t great at playing along with jokes or acting with the carefree vivaciousness that some people had. Their fear perceived as unenthusiasm lost them a significant number of potential friends back in school, and had made a lot of people angry with them. But now that they were confident in their safety they wanted that energy in their life. If Val was a spark in Hector’s home then he would be their fuel, and the two of them would get along like a house on fire.

8. How open they are about their true feelings, both positive and negative?

Highly depends on what the context is and who she is with. If it's business matters, she has no hesitation in expressing her thoughts and feelings. If the plan is stupid, the other party will know at once. If the plan is good — they will know too.

If it's a personal matter, she has to rely on her partner to put effort into decoding her feelings to a certain degree. Her upbringing wired her to shove feelings under the rug in favor of pragmatism. It brought certain benefits — she is diligent, capable and reliable at work, doesn't complain about difficulty. Yet this stoicism had its price — sometimes she herself doesn't know what she feels exactly, and whether it is important enough to be brought up at all.

Both of her relationships were a challenge and a learning experience, as you can't keep love alive if you treat it with the mindset of a warehouse manager. Love, among other things, is built on emotional dedication; and although she might never learn to "understand" her feelings, she had to learn how to trust herself with being open about them.

9. What is their love language?

Love Language Number 1: being open-minded and having a kink for infodumping. Give her all the brain stimulation, show that you're not intellectually stuck in the same box, tell her about the things that happened to you throughout the day. And essentially — let her be the first person you want to share it all with. Alt loves listening to Kurt's stories about his many travels, while Kurt finds joy in telling them to someone who actually cares about it all: the friend-foe dealings with Siberians, the sunny Balkans with its unique music, the stupidity of Militech corps and many more (Rosie could never).

Language Number Also 1: physical touch. After all the abuse she had to go through in her childhood, being touched with love and genuine affection matters a lot. A long embrace is one of the keys to making her feel safe and loved. Holding hands is like winning a lottery. All that is reserved for friends and partners, though; strangers should keep their hands to themselves. As for giving love, she is a person of deeds: share your troubles with her, and she will find a solution. Wants to ensure the significant people in her life are in good health and mind, protected and thriving (even if you're a betrayed warlord with a destroyed city district and a bunch of clowns with guns)

35. Do they like their own appearance, and what do they do, if anything, to alter it in any way?

When it comes to clothing, she wears what she wants, and is content with her choices. Mostly casual-styled clothing with a bit of roughness thrown in: leather accessories, angular shapes, maybe some small metallic details. Isn't afraid of the scars on her arm, neck and face; wears sleeveless tops freely. When Alt was a child, she suffered physical abuse from her father and had to cover the bruises with clothes, which earned her "Longsleeves" nickname from her classmates. By 2070, the scars and bruises she gets are the results of her actions and choices, and she isn't afraid of that.

When it comes to face and body, she doesn't consider herself a top looker, but she isn't negative or pessimistic about it. "Could be a bit better here and there, but whatever I have is fine". Flaunts whatever she's got and doesn't ponder over it much, frankly.

43. Do they enjoy flirting or being flirted with?

She doesn't care much about it. Years of working at a bar brought her the experience of hearing 1000 & 1 way to say "hey, pretty lady, isn't it a lonely evening?", so her perception of flirts has been dulled. As for being the one flirting — she'd rather learn more about the person and make genuine compliments.

Emily is based on stray dogs and extinct British wolves. Whenever she’s around dogs, they slowly begin to mutate into becoming more adaptable hunters. She leads a pack of various stray dogs that have been mutated by her and she treats them like they're her family and protects them. She is a opportunistic hunter and usually hunts other animals near her, but it's not out of question for her to occasionally prey on humans, though usually she finds them too much of a hassle. She mostly lives in more rural or woodland areas, but she occasionally travels into cities with her pack for a variety of reasons, mostly to find 'pretty' things or even visit the few friends she has. Other little facts about her! -Emily has a very awkward and strained way of speaking and she has the habit of always speaking in the third person. She barely ever uses 'I' or 'Me'. Emily is also a name she chose for herself because she thought it sounded pretty. When she does use 'I' or 'Me' though, she may panic..   -Since she was young she's always been a bit 'dog-like' and had habits of growling and barking at others and walking on all fours. She would hang around dogs more than other kids (mostly because other kids used to bully her for her dog traits), and as she's aged (now in her early 20s) her various dog-like traits have become more apparent and is much more quick to turn batshit feral, but she does still retain some humanity.  -One aspect of her humanity that remains is how she likes being 'pretty', and often visits city areas to get various 'pretty' things like dresses and accessories she likes. She also loves some human foods and peanutbutter is a guilty pleasure.  -Even though she is very dog-like and may not know a lot of social customs, Emily does not like being patronised for it. When it comes to hunting and figuring out which routes to take and cornering her prey she is really intelligent. If you think you can distract her with some toy bone she'll still hunt you and just take the toy bone sdjsdkjskjd.  -Surprisingly enough, she's kind of a cuddlebug and is very physically affectionate, if she has taken a liking to you she will hug and cuddle you a lot.

I'm having one of those days where I just don't feel good about myself. And bc of some of my traumas, most of my self esteem comes from doing things for other people and being physically with people I care about. Unfortunately my boyfriend is too far away for us to just chill together for a little bit (and he's not into petplay really, which is fine and i don't need him to indulge that side of things bc he doesnt want to and I dont want to make him feel like he has to) and my only irl friend is unavailable today (which is also fine, just bc we're friends doesnt mean she has to constantly be available to me).

But when i get days like this, where the only way for me to fix my brain is for me to be Good Puppy and do things for my loved ones but there are no loved ones available, it makes the drop a whole lot worse. Especially because the only physical things I have to put myself into puppy space are collars, but they're not very effective considering I also wear collars and chokers as every day accessories bc of my alt style.

And there's only so much I can do for myself when my options are limited to a collar and reading or watching other puppy subs' fantasies or experiences. Like, I haven't been able to make myself get out of bed beyond getting my birth control this morning. I've been awake for a little over four hours but I haven't eaten or drank anything and I just can't find the right motivation to go do stuff.

And like, I feel like it could be easier if I had someone here, calling me their puppy, telling me to take care of myself, rewarding me for doing a good job. Like I just have this strong feeling that even if I didn't do anything, having someone pet my hair while I kneel next to them would make me feel so much better.

For me, petplay and being a puppy sub isn't a strictly sexual thing. It's just as much about having someone who loves and cares about me to the point of labeling me as theirs and making sure I'm taken care of and happy. And yeah, there's ways to do that without making it petplay, obviously. But when the only dynamic you saw that level of care in growing up and even still is in the way a dog is cared for by their owner, it gets really hard to separate the two.

I want a nice set of puppy ears and someone to treat me like their own little pup.

New friend! Meet Virginia Wilde, from the late 1880s - early 1890s.

I've wanted Truly Me #115 for a while now, and I found a very good deal on her recently. I originally had intended to make her into Luna Lovegood (in fact, I'd already bought a fan-made Ravenclaw uniform for her), but as a trans person with trans and Jewish friends, Harry Potter has become... much more complicated for me the last few years. There's still a lot I really love about the series, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that (as long as I don't buy official merchandise etc.), but a lot of people I know are starting to see HP as a signal that someone isn't safe to be around (which, to be fair, makes a decent amount of sense, especially given Rowling's comments about the fanbase supposedly supporting her agenda). Anyways, the point to all this is to say that while I was planning to make #115 Luna, I also knew that for the comfort of those around me, I couldn't post a lot of photos of her or bring her out in public as I do my other dolls. I also was very torn on having a reminder of how betrayed I feel by Rowling in my room for me to see on a daily basis. Every time I find myself thinking of the Potterverse, it makes me happy, then immediately sad and angry when I remember how Rowling has harmed and continues to harm people like me. I was considering maybe keeping her stored away in her box part of the time.

But here's the thing... when she arrived, I took one look at her face and knew I couldn't do that; I loved her too much. So... now I had a very, very beautiful doll and no idea who she was. And I'd never, even as a child, bought an AG just because she was pretty and made up a character for her later. I definitely wanted to keep her though, so I just decided to wait until she told me who she was.

The first one I got came with a manufacturing defect, so I returned her to the seller and got a replacement. While the replacement was in transit, I racked my brain trying to decide who she should be. I had some vague ideas, but a lot of them seemed contradictory: I kept picturing her in historical gowns, but also found myself thinking of her in contemporary gothic alt fashion. In my mind, she was both a cheerful, creative artist type and an unusual “old soul” who made many people uncomfortable. Then, when the replacement arrived, I found myself thinking of her physical features: her pale skin, wide cloud-gray eyes, and flaxen hair, and tried associating her with pre-existing characters with similar attributes; and suddenly it clicked. She’s a Victorian gothic heroine; her biggest influences are Virginia Otis from “The Canterville Ghost” (which is also where her name came from: “Virginia” from the character herself, “Wilde” from the author), Edith Cushing from Crimson Peak, and Johanna Barker from Sweeney Todd.

She’s a little older than the rest of my dolls (15). Her father died shortly before her story starts, which is why her Meet Outfit is a mourning gown (I also want to get her some accessories inspired by Victorian mourning jewelry). She was quite close to her father, and became interested in the paranormal after his passing. She also loves art (especially painting). She’s quiet but cheerful, despite her more morbid interests, and friendly when you get to know her. Like Samantha, some of the dress codes of her time period frustrate her, and she surreptitiously rebels against them when she can.

I wanted her to be from 1884 originally (because of the old AG tradition of starting each story in years that end in 4), but then I had the idea of giving her a doll-sized Ouija board (which I’d found on Etsy ages ago, but never found a good use for!), and while spirit boards were used at the time, the Ouija board specifically was invented in 1890, so I’m leaning towards 1891 (I know I could use 1894, but then only a decade would separate her story from Samantha’s). I’ve been having trouble finding affordable era-appropriate doll clothing on Etsy, and I don’t know too much about the fashion from that period myself, so I’m kind of kicking myself for choosing this backstory, but now that I’ve seen it I can’t unsee it. (Any information about the time period any of you have, or any ideas for where to get outfits/furniture/accessories for her, would be more than welcome; thanks in advance!)

Since I don’t have a black Victorian-style gown (yet), for this photo I put her in the nightgown my mother made for Samantha when I was a child. I think it suits her more than it ever did Sam, so it’s hers now.
