TAKE CARE OF THE BASE ;

and by base i mean ur body. before u do anything how do u look and feel? keeping up with ur hygiene and taking care of urself properly makes a world of a difference and its what we should be doing first and foremost. make sure that ur base is ready and pretty cuz it makes u look a billion times more put together. some ways to take care of ur base include ->

♡ using tongue scraper and flossing (oral health maintenance) ♡ showering 1-2x a day and moisturizing with lotion to stay soft ♡ moving ur body everyday to keep ur body tea ♡ sleeping 8-10 hours a night

THE TRINITY ;

the trinity of being put together is hair, face, and scent. so lets start with ur hair. when ur hair is done you IMMEDIATELY look a billion times better. make sure that ur hair is done beautifully and you've already made urself look more put together. as long as ur hair and face look pretty and u smell good, you're basically set.

now unto ur face, make sure that ur face is washed and fresh. make sure that ur makeup is done prettily. know what works for ur face and master it through practice. if u dont have a lot of time, curl ur lashes and put on a bit of mascara in a wiggling motion (or just get ur lashes done) put on some bb cream and some lipgloss and ur good to go.

♡ some of my favorite mascaras are the essence lash princess curl and volume mascara, maybelline lash sensational and the two faced damn girl 24-hour volumizing and lengthening mascara

♡ some of my favorite lipglosses include the nyx butter gloss (literally all of them), any of the VS secret glosses, the nyx FAT lip oil, and the kiko milano 3D hydra lipgloss (05)

and last but certainly not least is our scent. so make sure that ur taking a shower everyday and using deodorant, sweet smelling soaps, creams and nectars and a yummy perfume. put perfume on ur pulse points (don't rub) and put perfume on ur clothes.

some more things that help me look more put together is things like getting my nails done, accessorizing adequately in my outfits and opting for matching sets/tracksuits.

i dont usually post textposts, but i decided to do something different because, its november!!! nd we all know this months is when things go wrong and i've been struggling to practice self-care so here are some of my favourite things i like to do to remind myself i am loved, and perhaps give you all some inspo if you're in a funk too!! <3

listen to music i tend to have different playlists as i believe that the music you listen to dictates your mood. as much as i enjoy my jazz and classical, when im in a funk i need to be hype 24/7!! my go to's are usually anything future, miss stallion, glorilla, king von, tate mcrae, charli or carti. i need to listen to music that'll manifest success and confidence.

read i'll read anything really, just to keep my mind off social media BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO ROT MY BRAIN WHEN IM FEELING SULKY. im currently reading letters from a stoic by seneca - im learning plenty and its keeping me stay calm

body movement i love a good run, or a pilates sesh so i'll put all my anger and sadness into pushing myself to run an extra k, or that extra set. sometimes its nice to just clear ur lungs and ur mind, and it'll build my strength physically and mentally!!! plus i'll look even better so he'll regret ever ending things with me

visit the beach im a beach girl forever, the ocean has always been my best friend. a quick swim will alwayssss level me out. there's cute boutiques and my favourite açai place along the esplanade and i love walking down there during the sunset or sunrise to keep me busy.

annoy my friends i love my friends so much they're my everything!!! they bring me peace even if we're loud. there's something about surrounding yourself with positive and loving energy that i'll never get tired of, if i could i would give all my love in my body to them.

write ive always been a writer i think. i have to get everything in my mind onto paper or a document or i lose it. its nice to write in my journal about things im grateful for, things im scared about and things i want to achieve. as well as just what went on in my day - i think that now im out of high school im living a much more dramatic and different life to what i used to, so i need to process these things. also i write w a muji pen so it makes the experience so fun.

cry no matter how nonchalant i try to be, im a crier - even at the clubs (it gets embarrassing) but i find it a great way to rid my anger, sadness or stress - better out than in.

meditate ive only just started practicing this, but its very peaceful!! well duh i like to do it during sunset in the park near one of the beaches i frequent (so i can swim too hehe) and the sound of the waves, the people and life can kind of block out anything in my head!!

clean/re-organise my room organised room = organised mind!! (my dad taught me that one) but during this process i always find something that i forgot about and i get distracted, so it takes longer but i get the job #done

call my mummy my mum and i are close, shes my best friend so i tell her everything (except my tattoos and my ehem..rendevouz..) her wisdom has helped me in a lot of situations...i tend to write down the advice she gives me so i dont forget and fuck up. again :p

retail therapy maybe not the most healthy way of self-care, but it gets the job done i cannot lie!! sometimes you need to spend a little bit of money to sustain some peace in your life. you do need that glossier lip liner babe, get it, you deserve it.

Natural Soft Glam Makeup Tips:

Find your undertone (cool, neutral or warm)

Choose a signature everyday nude pink or brown lipstick (a color close to your natural lip color)

For warm undertones, go for peachy shades

For cool undertones, go for mauve shades

For melanated lips, use a darker brown liner to outline then apply lipstick

Wear lip gloss! But not too much

Wear shorter, lighter lashes

Use softer colors for eyeshadow (light pink, browns)

when i think of casually glamorous makeup looks i think very victoria's secret, very natural looking makeup thats kind of dewy, but has hints of glam. whether thats a shimmery gloss or a winged eyeliner…💬🎀

♡ glam makeup is all about creating a look thats not doing too much. u can capture this look by mixing in the tiniest bit of moisturizer into ur foundation. doing so will sheer out the pigment of the foundation -> resulting in less coverage BUT that gives u a skin like finish which is perfect for the casual glam.

♡ for ur eyes go for more nude/muted colors and finish with the tiniest bit of something glittery for that shimmery, glamorous look. a SLIGHTLY shimmery eye with a nude base + a winged eyeliner will EATTT.

HOT TIP ; use something with a straight edge when applying ur eyeshadow (business card for example) so that it'll make a rly clean line for ur eyeshadow. you'd put it at the end of the eye and tilt up towards ur temple…💬🎀

♡ go for a warmer blush look and use apply some mascara onto ur top lashes, but for ur bottom lashes use ur eyeliner for a more dainty natural look

How to give the appearance of bigger eyes and lips.

Bigger eyes 👀

(Long) Lashes can make your eyes look bigger and more youthful. You should focus on both the bottom and top lashes with lash extensions or mascara.

Example: Manwha lashes

Winged eyeliner can help elongate and draw attention to the eyes, helping them seem bigger. Drawing with a less harsher colour like anything close but softer than black to place in the inner corners of the eye, making it more sharp.

Highlighting the inner corners will bring focus to the eye area.

Lowe set eye brows which are slightly thin will also give the appearance of bigger eyes (it’s okay if you don’t have them tho!). Fill brows in as normal.

Eyeshadow placement will also help on emphasising the roundness of the eye. Adding more emphasis on your under eye fat by drawing aegyo sal and darkening the lower-lash line especially on the outer corner by using a dark brown or a softer colour than black. If you want, you can also darken the lid near to the upper lash line with a subtle warm brown or similar colour to the bottom lash line.

Blush placement should be placed on the apples of the cheeks to bring focus near the eyes.

So, you wanna get that flushed or sun-kissed look? Here's the deal:

For that flushed vibe: Use a blush brush and swipe it across the top of your cheekbones, kinda blending up towards your temples. You can go for a light flush or build it up for a full-on glam thing.

If you're aiming for that sun-kissed glow, use your blush brush to draw a "W" shape, starting on one cheek, across your nose, and finishing on the other cheek. Then just blend it out.

The Icon Ahead of Her Time: The Secret Behind Marilyn's Infamous Look

For such a clean, crisp look that pinup icons are notorious for, it's not as simple as it appears. Marilyn Monroe's main makeup artist, Allan 'Whitey' Snider, came up with some of the best tips to create the iconic look Marilyn is known for. A look that would pave the way for the go-to for pinup basics for makeup.

In this post, discover some of Marilyn's hacks on how to create this natural yet glamourous look.

Laying down the foundation for any makeup application is important. Starting with where it begins...the skin.

In today's society people are obsessed with dermaplaning; removing the peach fuzz due to aesthetic reasons for makeup. Marilyn on the other hand embraced the effect that the peach fuzz could do for her on camera and with her makeup. She could see that the tiny hairs actually created a blurring effect, which created a glow of sorts when underneath harsh studio lighting - no blurring makeup products needed!

We also know how vital it is to hydrate the skin when prepping the skin for makeup application. Did you know that Marilyn used Vaseline primarily under her makeup to keep moisturized and like a primer, as well as using it to create a highlight on her cheeks, as well as after applying her eye makeup? If you have a bit of oily skin trouble, this may not be the best thing to do , and there are products to achieve the same desired results, but this was what she used that worked for her.

This leads us to the eyes.

Marilyn would use white cream from her eyelid to her brow bone for every look she would do. In pinup, white is often used to open the eye to create the big, open eye look iconic to pinups.

That being said, not only was white used for colour and highlight on the lid and brow bone area, but it was used as eyeliner on the bottom water line!

Another incoming fact about Marilyn's methods...she didn't use just one shade of eyeliner...she used three! For the main wing on her lid, she used classic black eyeliner which is typical for creating that winged stroke of wonder. But she also used a brown to create that light, what appears to be a drop shadow casted by her eyelashes. This was an illusion she used to make the eyelashes look emphasized, by making the viewer believe they were the culprits for creating that dropshadow. Nay, that was the art of eyeliner. The third of course, being the white eyeliner as mentioned previously on the lower waterline to open the eye.

That technique being used , added with the right set of falsies nowadays would be a deadly combo. Speaking of false eyelashes...

Many make the mistake of going balls to the wall when picking out false lashes to wear. The idea you should go for - besides avoiding doing eyelid pushups - is a more natural glamourous look. So, nothing too dramatic. What Marilyn would do to keep the natural appearance to the lashes, is that she would actually cut the lashes in half and apply them only to the outer part of the upper lid. Think about it... when we do our winged liner, we are creating the illusion of that part of the eye being elongated and emphasized. That being said, the placement of the lashes only being placed on that part of the eye makes complete sense.

Well now, thinking about how fabulous one will appear with that handy-dandy trick makes one want to blush...

Did you know that Marilyn used blush as a means to contour her face? We don't normally contour our face in the modern sense of the term since it creates too harsh of lines, but she used it sparingly on her cheeks and a smidge to the tip of her nose. This created a more natural appearance as well a hint of warmth. To top it off, she did use a finishing powder to add a bit of glow to her appearance.

Now, for the part that is another infamous pinup staple: The iconic red lip.

Marilyn's red lip was achieved using a multi stage process.

Beginning first with creating the perfectly crisp lining, Marilyn would use a lip brush to line her lips. This can be done either with brush or with a lip pencil. Regardless, make sure either method contains a fine, sharp tip for precision.

For the fill, she would actually do a form of lip contouring. You know that thing we were blown away by a few years ago and some companies made double ended products to create a lip ombre / contour? Marilyn did it first. Sorry y'all, the 50's was the birthplace of that technique. Marilyn would use darker shades of red towards the outer part of the lips, and use lighter towards the middle. This created the contoured/ombre effect. To top it off, she would then put a very little bit of white in the middle on the bottom lip to create a highlighted effect, and a clear coat of gloss over top of her lips to create that sparkling, glossy effect. Albeit in pinup, we normally use matte lipstick and try to avoid using shimmery shades as well as shiny glosses. For Marilyn, though? She made it work and was absolutely glamorous doing so.
