Cape Fear (1991)
"Let's get something straight here. I spent fourteen years in an eight by nine cell, surrounded by people who were less than human. My mission in that time was to become more than human. You see? Granddaddy used to handle snakes in church, Granny drank strychnine. I guess you could say I had a leg up, genetically speaking."

Does anyone else feel like SNW was super low-key throwing shade at the Kelvin timeline movies Kirk Drift in that Uhura assumed Kirk was hitting on her when he wasn’t. He just wanted to see if he could be a friend cuz she was visibly stressed out while also being entertained by Spock playing chess?
Cuz I feel like it was, maybe, just a little

Listen whoever decided to pair up La'an and an alternate version of Jim Kirk in a romcom style classic time travel episode actually galaxy brained. Freaking great episode.

765874 Unification DEEP DIVE!
There's a lot to unpack on this little video, including lots not at all explained in it and only behind the scenes. Is it dreamy and ambiguous, or is there a solid background?
First of all, is Kirk dead and in heaven? Is he alive? A hologram? The answers are shown in the intro, prior 765874 videos and built from Easter Eggs in Picard season 3. Eagle-eyed viewers spotted Kirk's remains in the Section 31 Daystrom vault. The readout mentioned something called "Project Phoenix". James T. Kirk has been resurrected.
The park Kirk starts out in? It's not just any park. It's inside the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-J, just look at the Roddenberry Archive Ent-J interior. We're in the 26th century, that's why Saavik looks so old. And speaking of Saavik, the Roddenberry Archive say they consider the Vulcan's Heart novel canon. Which means Saavik is Spock's wife. And the Vulcan man next to her? That's Sorak, the son she had with Spock following the Pon Farr in Star Trek III, according to OTOY.
It gets weirder. The old man wearing a white TNG movie era dress uniform? He's credited as "Crusher". That's an elderly version of our time travelling Wesley, dressed as he was in Star Trek Nemesis.
This sinister character, who gives Kirk his badge back and takes him through time? Temporal soldier Yor, from Discovery 3.09. From the Kelvin timeline, he jumped forward in time and across timelines during the 30th century temporal wars, eventually resulting in sickness and an agonising death. Here he takes Kirk from the 26th century Enterprise-J to 23rd century New Vulcan in the Kelvin timeline.
But why was Kirk resurrected? Just to zip though time and be with Spock at his death?
And what role does Yeoman Colt (whose Starfleet serial number these shorts are named for) play? She's seen in all of them, even the start of this one in a Kelvin Universe uniform looking at Project Phoenix stuff. I guess time will tell...

So I've read the opening story of Tim Drake: Robin.
The opening issue is solid, highlighting a lot of Meghan Fitzmartin's skills as a writer. She picked up threads neatly from her earlier stories, showed her hand to the audience, and did do a fair amount of subtle character work. If I'd picked it up with no background knowledge of the fandom conversation about the title, I'd have been very excited for where it was going.
I liked the links back to how part of what prompted Tim to move out was Bruce being fussy over Tim having been shot in the throat in Batman #125. That felt realistic and a nice little link between titles.
As far as a story goes: I didn't mind it. Parts of it were very obvious, especially when you clued into the themes - if I'd actually been reading it as it came out and had a month between issues for things to soak in, I probably would have been tapping my toes over the reveal of who Moriarty was disguised as.
I would like to specifically dunk on both Meghan Fitzmartin and Moriarty for the detective novel writer selections, because...hmm. Kinda misogynistic there. Fitzmartin uses 6 writers for this, and 6 specific stories/franchises:-
Edgar Allen Poe – Murders in the Rue Morgue
Mark Twain – The Stolen White Elephant
Arthur Conan Doyle – Sherlock Holmes
Raymond Chandler - Goldfish
James Gelsey – Scooby Doo
Wilkie Collins – The Moonstone
What do you notice about this list, that I immediately noticed? They're all men. Who is an immediate name that comes to mind, who even had public domain stories as of 2022, who probably should be on a list like that and who also has incredible influence over the direction of the genre? Oh, I don't know, maybe Agatha Christie? (Also Dorothy L. Sayers is also right there and available, but skipping Christie?)
And once she'd built up this "it's all the detective stories" premise, Fitzmartin then went for a book code (cool!) from non-existent books (not cool). If you've just spent all this time glorying in how this is all related to Specific Classic Detective Stories, why not...use a real book code and refer to their actual stories? You've already done it for the plots! Commit to the bit!
Also I spent a good chunk of issue #4 staring at the page going "Carol Donovan? You mean Deb Donovan's judge daughter who recently appeared in Mariko Tamaki's 'Tec run? Tim, how are you missing something this straightforward? Also she's dead?" and then it never came to anything. Maybe do a quick check if anyone else has been using the name you just invented for the story.
"I even tried making a new costume for myself. It doesn't fit." - I did find it interesting that Fitzmartin was once again playing with the "is it time to move on" themes for Tim that were popping up around here in various conversations. Especially given she had Tim and Dick relitigate their conversation from Urban Legends #10 and similar themes in DC:YJ. It does suggest to me that she was working her way around to getting Tim into a new identity, but cancellation has once again left that in the 'not happening' basket.
In terms of the art: Riley Rossmo was the wrong pick for the title, but I do see the thought process that led into him getting the nod for the opening story, given the whole claymation villain set. It was very 2D animation style. I don't mind Rossmo (and interestingly he's developing a whole line up of detective stories he's done art for, given he's also had a Martian Manhunter book and got Wesley Dodds, he did one of the Batman/The Shadow crossovers...) but his highly malleable art style loses a lot of background detail or makes what is there harder to parse.
I did very much appreciate the way Rossmo drew Tim's detective work, though. I liked the technique for highlighting details and clues, and it actually very much reminded me of how some computer games present clues (including how it's done in Gotham Knights, in fact).
I know everyone has said this, but Bernard needs to develop a personality AND to commit to whether or not he knows Tim is Robin. Because sort of hinting that he knows, while Tim worries about hiding things from him, but not actually confirming either way is only really acceptable if you actually do build up to a big reveal moment where the whole drama has been paid off.
I did appreciate that MegFitz had clearly taken feedback and returned one of Bernard's two pre-existing personality traits (conspiracy theorist who thinks the Bats are urban legend cryptids), because one of the weaknesses of using Bernard, a side character with 6 preboot appearances, is that at lot of his existing personality was sketched in. He was a conspiracy theorist, and he desperately wanted to be popular but wasn't, so he presented himself as having a Cool Guy's Personality (see: 'your step-mom is hot'). Now, Meghan Fitzmartin wants us to read into that second trait as a facade that Bernard was putting up to deal with the fact he was gay and hiding it, probably even from himself, at the time. Which, fine, it's a perfectly reasonable reading of Bernard (and to her credit, MegFitz has Bernard spell it out a little on page in TD:R), but the problem is...you've just lost one of the two identifiable traits of 'Bernard' and it hasn't been replaced with anything else. And while 2004 in comics was still trying to hold onto the Urban Legends reading for the Bats to an extent (though it was failing), 2022 comics has so long since abandoned it that Bernard having kooky theories about Batman's connection to Mothman or whatever is very...why?
And because both of these pre-existing personality traits are under strain from the context, it really is sort of necessary to give Bernard something else about him for people to latch onto for his personality. And it doesn't really seem to be there yet (as of #6). It's the same complaint that people have about Jon/Jay and a whole host of other partners for recently out superheros: they're generically pleasant, supportive and bland, with about the depth of a mirror. Give me some of the toxic drama the 30 year old lesbians are allowed. Where is my breakup over custody fights with an ex and one of the two getting seduced by a vampire.

This one's for @theradioactivespidergwen as she's been feeling shitty and writes the best, hottest Murderdock and reader series which this little piece is inspired by. Hope you enjoy 💝💋
Tags/warnings: I should say Murderdock is from Earth 65 but I've set this in the Netflix universe. Cock warming, semi-public sex/slight voyuerism, tiny little bit of daddy kink.bif you enjoyed please reblog so that others can too!
"The Russians are getting twitchy, they don't seem happy with the property offer."
Matt pours both himself and James Wesley a generous measure of whiskey into the thick crystal glasses on the low table before throwing himself back and lounging on the plush sofa cushions.
"Ugh." He rolls his eyes, taking a long sip of the warming alcohol, savouring the taste before letting it roll down his throat. "I don't see why. This was all agreed, prime fucking property in exchange for weapons, pretty simple offer. Pretty good one if you ask me."
"I get the feeling Alexey will come back asking for more than he deserves." Wesley adds.
"Oh it's almost guaranteed…" Matt pauses as you walk into the room, the hem of your silky nightdress barely covering your ass and the tops of your thighs. "Hi honey, what're you doing up so late, hm?"
"Can't sleep." You quietly reply, coming to sit on the couch beside him with your feet tucked up under you.
"Too hot? Too cold?"
You sigh. "No, the temperature's fine."
He tilts the glass held between his thumb and middle finger back and forth. "Maybe you just need a little nightcap sweetie."
You shake your head, leaning against his side, your fingers playing with his tie, pulling it up slow and letting it slip through your fingers.
"No Matty, I don't need a drink, I need you."
"We'll be finished soon darling, and then I'll come to bed."
"Please?" You add a little flavour of bratty whine into your begging because you know he can't resist it.
"I can go, sir…" Wesley makes a move to stand up but Matt raises his hand to halt him.
"No, no Wesley, that won't be necessary. Please, stay." He sighs dramatically. "It's my own fault, I've been a terrible boyfriend, too much business and not enough pleasure, how very unlike me! My little angel just gets a little needy sometimes, don't you baby?"
You nod slowly and he kisses your forehead sweetly. "And what kind of man would I be if I didn't make sure my best girl is taken care of?"
"A very bad one." You reply and he chuckles and grins, patting his thigh. "That's right. C'mere baby."
You do as he asks, putting your hands on his shoulders and swinging your leg over him to straddle his lap.
"Now, you see Wesley, this is how the Russians need to be with me," he explains as he starts to unfasten his suit pants, "just some clear communication, that's it, no fucking around," he eases his half hard cock out from his boxers under the cover of your short slip. He nearly always gets hard when he knows you're wearing some pretty lingerie around him and this time is no exception when his fingers run over your beautiful silk-covered breasts and on downwards, to where he discovers to his delight that you're completely bare underneath your nightwear.
"All I want," Matt continues, sucking air through his teeth as he lines himself up with your pussy, "is for them to tell me what they want…" his hands move to grip your hips as he slowly guides you to sink down on his length. "Mm, fuck sweetheart you feel so good… - and if it's an acceptable request-" You moan quietly as he fills you fully, feeling every single vein and ridge of him as you take his cock to the hilt, wrapping your arms around him as you lay against his chest and nuzzle into the crook of his neck. "Yeah, that's it, good girl... I'll be more than happy to give them it."
He shuts his eyes to take a breath for a second as your walls squeeze him while you adjust.
"Alright. Is that better now angel?"
"Mmm."
"And are you going to be good for me and stay nice and still? Because you know if you start teasing me I'm going to have to fuck you over the coffee table and you know how that ended last time?"
You smile softly with acquiescence at him but with mischief in your eyes. "Mm, worth it."
"Mm, expensive." He counters pointedly, albeit with a slight smirk.
He rubs his hand slowly over your back as he turns his attention back to his second in command. "So, do you have any good news for me?'
Wesley clears his throat, following Matt's lead getting back to business.
You manage around ten minutes of boring crimelord admin chat before shifting in Matt's lap, the angle pushing him even deeper within you causing your cunt to clench at his dick and a tiny whimper to sneak out from your lips as Matt groans.
"Princess," He grits out. "What did I ask you earlier? I'm working."
You bite at your bottom lip. "I'm sorry daddy! I was just trying to get comfy, I didn't mean it." His cock twitches at your petted words and his tone drops low to the voice he only uses at night in the Kitchen... and in the bedroom.
"Sweetie, you were doing oh-so well for me before…" He removes his red-tinted glasses and sets them on the arm of the couch.
"I can be good..." you whisper before tugging his earlobe between your teeth. His fingers press into your thighs and you feel the hum he makes in his chest as he responds, I know, through your entire body, and you can't help flutter around him again as he makes you even wetter.
"Wesley," Matt's voice is ever so slightly strained as he secures your legs around him before he stands, sweeping everything off of the low table in front of him onto the floor before he lays you down on it and looms over you, still buried inside your warmth.
"I'll- talk to you in the morning, sir." Wesley finishes as he knocks back the rest of his drink and starts walking towards the penthouse elevator door.
"Yes, thank you," Matt replies, but he's entirely focused on you now, the hand that's not holding you spreading around your jaw and gently pressing his thumb between your lips to suck on. The elevator bell chimes softly as the doors slide open. "Oh, and Wesley?"
"Sir?"
You gasp as Matt draws back slowly and snaps his hips forward sharply, jolting you across the polished surface of the table as he uses one hand to loosen off his tie. "Order another one of these for me, hm?" He says, slapping his palm down on the wood. "Maybe something a bit more… sturdy."
Your devil of a Kingpin finally gives in to his angel, giving you what you want, all night long.
And afterwards? You've never slept better.

Under the Pale Moonlight
Photos are not mine. They are courtesy of Pinterest/Google.
Pairing: Billy Russo x F! Reader
Supporting characters: Frank Castle, James Wesley, and Wilson Fisk
Warnings: Swearing, violence, guns, knives, and fluff.
Word Count: 4.2k-ish
Summary: Billy is unhinged, you’ve been taken and being held for ransom. He will not rest until you are found and he can bring you home safe, and you feel sorry for anyone who gets in his way
A/N: Based off of a little conversation between @qu1etwolf and myself. She said she would like to see me try and write something with Billy and his violent like tendencies but I still wanted fluffy elements to it. It’s a bit dramatic but I’m pretty pleased with what I did here and I hope you enjoy it!
As always, thank you for reading! I appreciate it so much and comments, reblogs are welcome and encouraged. Don’t be shy to tell me your favorite part. 💕💕 💕
That night was cloudless and quiet at first.
The sky was so clear, you could see just about every crater of the moon and the stars that were sprinkled behind it sparkled like diamonds under fluorescent lights. From far away, you could hear the occasional dog barking that cut through the silence and you could see the dark shadows of the autumn foliage swaying in the gentle winds.
The musky sweet fragrance of fallen leaves danced across your nose while the cool breeze enveloped you as you walked down the street…alone.
He told you he hated when you walked alone…anywhere…any time of day. Billy didn’t like it if you went anywhere by yourself.
“You worry too much, baby. I’ll be fine.” You had said with a warm smile.
Famous last words.
When you came to, your head hurt and your body was resting on a metal floor, the empty space was completely dark, without windows, and every noise you made echoed throughout the room. It sounded like you were inside of a shipping container.
You weren’t bound or restrained in any way but you were scared and convinced that this had something to do with a deal that your father didn’t want to make involving the company he worked for.
Pratt and Whitney built aircraft engines and while your father didn’t own the company, he was responsible for bringing deals to the table. They build engines for civil aviation and military aviation and when your father declined a business offer, it was for a good reason.
Not too long ago, he had told you about a man coming to see him that wanted to do business and would not take no for an answer and you were convinced that it was someone involved with this man that was holding you captive.
But you didn’t know how far they were willing to go, to get what they wanted.
**********
He let out a yell that could probably be heard by people outside the building on the streets below.
His office was completely destroyed.
Fragments of shattered glass decorated the floor, his laptop landed upside down in the corner of the room, the cracked mirror and the broken picture frames were also casualties of the war zone inside Billy’s office. With his gun in one hand and your picture in the other, he stared down at your smiling face trying to figure out what his next move was going to be.
He needed to find you and was ready to burn the world down if it meant he could find you faster. Billy finally found love, someone who loved him but didn’t put up with his shit, someone that put him in his place when it was necessary, and someone that told him it was ok to let go. You said you would never leave, never abandon him, and he trusted you.
But you were gone, taken someplace that he had no idea where. He wasn’t going to rest until you were found, until HE found you. Billy needed you to be safe in his arms where you belonged and he wasn’t going to let anyone take you away from him.
Still holding the frame with your picture in it, he smashed the glass and removed it to put in his jacket pocket. Billy holstered his weapon and headed for the office door where he was cut off on the other side by Frank.
“Outta my way, Frankie. Now.” He said, rage dripping from his lips.
Frank held up a hand to try and stop him from leaving.
“She’s high profile, Bill. The FBI said they were handling it.” Frank said.
“Oh come on, Frankie! Those corrupt assholes couldn’t find their way out of a wet paper bag let alone find her! I should have been more insistent that she not walk alone and I’m gonna kill every single one of them, Frank. Every…single…one.” Said Billy.
The icy tone to his voice and his mouth twisted with threat let Frank know that Billy was serious. He didn’t care who he had to kill, he was going to find you and leave a trail of bodies behind him while he did it.
“I can’t stop you, can I Bill.” Frank said.
Billy’s eyes darkened and his lips curled back to reveal clenched teeth.
“You know me, Frankie. You think anyone’s gonna be able to stop me? Especially when it comes to her?” Growled Billy.
Frank looked into Billy’s eyes, they shined with unshed tears as he grabbed him by the shoulder.
“Well let’s go get her then, yeah?” Frank said with one side of his mouth curled up into a half smile. “You have a place to start?”
“Her father had a business card from the guy that came to his office wanting to make a deal, willing to pay cash, classic red flag. The card had an address on it. He said it sounded like the same guy demanding the engines in exchange for y/n.” Billy said.
Frank scoffed. “Pfft, not too bright is he. Well I think Lieberman can get her last known location before her phone went dead, so I’ll go to David’s and you go to that address, yeah?”
“Yeah, lemme know what you find out.” Billy said.
**********
They finally had enough of listening to you bang on the walls and call out for help. It took awhile but the doors opened, the early morning sun peeked through the crack in the door, they came inside and tied your arms and legs. They put a piece of tape over your mouth as well so they wouldn’t have to listen to you anymore.
The harder your struggled to free yourself, the tighter the ropes had become and you didn’t want to expel all of your energy. What did they want?
And why did they want aircraft engines? While he had more than enough money for the engines, he was a civilian and civilians don’t require large engines like that and your father could see right through that so he told them no.
They had also taken your watch.
It was completely dark inside the shipping container so you wouldn’t be able to see the time no matter how hard you tried but they took it from you anyway. It was the watch Billy had given you for Christmas last year, the one that he had engraved “Until the end of time. Love, Billy.”
You managed a slight smile with the tape over your mouth thinking about what he said when he gave it to you. When you looked at the engraving, he said, “It was between this and ‘nice butt’,” which caused you to burst out laughing.
You loved him so much.
There weren’t many things in this world that frightened you but you were very scared that you would never get to see Billy’s face again. It terrified you to think you would never get to look into his endless brown eyes again, lovingly scrape your nails against his scalp, or tell him that you loved him and to hear him say it back.
You needed to be in his arms again, to have his body be a warm cradle for yours, and for his soft lips to kiss you goodnight before you fall asleep.
You wanted it all back, you wanted him…forever. And he needed to know that.
**********
When he wanted to be, Billy could be very quiet. He was so light on his feet, sometimes you had no idea he was even in the same room until you turned around to see his handsome face smiling at you, then laughing because he scared you.
That skill came in handy when it was needed. When he arrived at the address on the business card, he didn’t know what to expect so he drew his weapon and went inside the building.
Slinking down hallways and creeping around corners, he checked the building from top to bottom and found everything he expected to find…which was nothing.
The building was empty.
At some point it had been occupied but looking around him, there hasn’t been any activity inside of the building in a long time. It was just an address. But who owned the building?
He needed to get back, tell Frank what he found, and to see if David had any luck finding the last location of your phone.
**********
You heard men arguing outside but you could only make out bits and pieces of the conversation.
“He said he wanted her moved.” One of them said.
Then you heard a different voice. “Well where are we going to move her?”
You heard the first voice again. “He doesn’t care where, just move her. She probably has to go to the bathroom anyway.”
That voice sounded familiar…”He doesn’t care where…”
It was killing you not knowing who “HE” was. Who could it be? And that voice, where have you heard that voice before?
Also, how considerate of them, you thought sarcastically to yourself…you hadn’t had anything to drink in hours so you didn’t really have to go. You didn’t even know how long you had been locked inside.
More talking…
“I cannot believe you didn’t get rid of her phone until you brought her here. Her boyfriend owns the best private security company in the city. You better hope they don’t track her phone or I’ll kill you myself.”
Before they tied you up, you had removed your jacket and tossed it into the corner. If they planned on moving you, hopefully they would be dumb enough to leave your jacket where it is so Billy could find it.
You felt it in your heart that he was out looking for you and when he does find you, he was never going to let you walk alone again.
**********
“The name, Bill. What was the name on the business card?” Frank asked.
Billy pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes, concentrating really hard trying to remember the name your father told him was on the card.
“Wesley…James Wesley.” Said Billy. “Y/n’s father also said that they don’t want money, they want those engines. And why does that name sound so familiar, Frankie?”
Frank pressed his lips together in a straight line then hung his head before glancing at Billy again.
“Because he works for HIM, Bill. He works for Wilson Fisk…Kingpin.” Frank said softly.
Billy ran his long fingers through his ebony colored hair, hell burned behind his dark doll like eyes, and he had the acid burn of bitterness in his throat as he said, “Well then he’ll be the final body on top of the pile. She has nothing to do with this and he took her from me, Frankie and he’s gonna pay for it. They’re all gonna pay, so please tell me David found where her phone was last.”
He stared at Frank while putting his gear on and removed the picture of you from his suit jacket pocket to stash it behind his vest. Billy was ready to take out anyone who got in his way including the authorities.
“He did…down by the water where the cargo ships come in. Might be holding her in one of those shipping containers…told ya they’re not too bright. And you know I’m comin’ with you, yeah?” Said Frank.
Billy shook his head furiously.
“No, no, no, I can’t ask you to do that. You have a family, Frankie. I can’t let you risk yourself for me.” Billy said.
“And you’re part of that family, Bill so you’re not goin’ by yourself. Gimme some of that untraceable Russian ammo that I know you have and let’s go bring her home.” Frank said with a slight smirk.
“I love her, Frankie.” Billy said with a slight hitch in his voice.
“Well, let’s go so you can tell her instead of me.”
**********
They arrived at the pier under the cover of the clouded night sky. The ethereal glow of the moon peeked out briefly from behind the clouds before completely disappearing on the other side of the fluffy clouds.
The steady wind picked up a little faster down by the water as they stealthily moved through the cargo yard when they came upon a chair that had been turned over and the rocks underneath their feet had been disturbed. It looked like someone had been dragged from one of the containers, close to where the chairs were turned over.
“The door’s open, Bill…go check inside.” Frank whispered.
With his flashlight on, Billy stepped inside. You weren’t there but in the back corner, he saw some kind of black fabric rolled into a ball. It looked like it was hastily thrown there. When he picked it up, it unfolded and he recognized it immediately. Smiling slightly to himself, Billy knew you had left it for him to find.
“I’m coming, sweet girl.” He whispered to himself.
Frank stuck his head inside. “Russo, you find anything?” He asked.
Billy held out your jacket so Frank could see it. “She left it for me, Frankie.”
“The drag marks go that way.” Frank pointed in the direction they were already headed toward. “They probably didn’t move her too far…maybe in one of those buildings across the way.”
They suddenly heard some rocks shuffle along the ground, Billy and Frank turned and fired in the direction of the noises hitting two men right between the eyes. Billy didn’t even blink, he just continued walking, not bothered at all, and was careful not to leave any evidence behind.
Carnage was the only thing Billy left behind and Fisk was smart enough to scatter his men throughout the shipyard so Billy and Frank would have to check every building.
He prowled like a jungle cat, slitting their throats with his hidden blade, one right after the other, not looking back and moving on even before the body hit the ground.
Billy’s expression was blank, completely zoned out and he would not come back to reality until you were safe. Even Frank had a hard time getting through to him.
As he got closer to another building, Billy heard voices. He heard a woman’s voice, your voice. He listened intently as you spoke.
“What do you want the engines for, Mr. Wesley? You know my father is only responsible for bringing deals to the table and he’s not in charge of making deals himself, right?” You said with a sinister smile stretched across your lips.
“My employer knows that yes, Ms. Y/l/n. But we’ve tied his hands and yours.” He said with an evil smirk. “The man I work for wants to build his own planes for his spice import/export business.”
“Well if that doesn’t sound shady as fuck, I don’t know what does. You are even dumber than you look, Mr. Wesley.” You said. “Pratt and Whitney isn’t going to sell engines like that to a civilian. My father doesn’t care how much money you throw at them.”
The door opened and you heard a deep shaky voice coming from around the corner. “I think your father will do whatever it takes to get you back.”
Wilson Fisk came into view. He walked around the table and stood next to Wesley who was sitting across from you at a long table.
“Well, I’m sorry to disappoint you, Mr. Fisk but I know my father isn’t going to give you what you want and I know that you’re not going to kill me because if I’m dead, you have no other bargaining chips.” You said.
Fisk gave you an evil smile. “You know who I am.”
“Of course I know who you are.”
**********
Outside were a couple of large SUV’s and they had some of Fisk’s men inside which Billy and Frank took care of, almost a little too easily. But Fisk didn’t know what kind of marines he was dealing with. They were trained to be silent, anticipate moves by the enemy, and to kill with zero hesitation.
Billy was covered in blood, his black clothing had a bright red sheen to it when the dim lights from overhead shined down on to it, and the front of his vest was slick with all of their blood. He acted like it wasn’t even there, like it was just a part of his gear, and if Billy had the time, he would have tortured and tormented all of them.
He would have done it slowly and with precision, to make them feel as much pain as possible for what they had done. They were just doing what they were ordered to do but that didn’t matter to Billy.
You always have a choice in life and they chose to do this, they chose to work for HIM. They took you away from him and now they had paid the price…all of them.
Frank and Billy left no survivors, they didn’t let any of them go, not even one to warn Fisk they were coming for him. They were left to bleed out on to the gravel beneath them, the tiny pebbles were painted red with their blood as it pooled under their throats where they fell.
Billy would make sure the last two would never leave the shipyard alive.
**********
“That’s it. Keep them talkin’, sweet girl.” Billy said in barely more than a whisper.
Close to Billy’s ear, Frank said, “She has a smart mouth, Bill. I can see why you love her so much.”
Fisk started to speak again.
“You think your boyfriend is out looking for you? Hmmm?” He said.
You touched your tongue to your teeth and gave him a sinister grin. “I know what you want me to say, Mr. Fisk. But you’re not gonna get it. What I am gonna tell you is that my guess is you kidnapping me is high profile to the FBI and as soon as they find their way out of that wet paper bag they seem to be stuck in, they’ll be searching for me. Sending Mr. Wesley in to talk to my father was just dumb on your part. You didn’t even try to make it sound legit.” You said with a laugh.
Frank chuckled. “You two really are made for each other.”
You could tell Wilson Fisk was starting to get angry.
“I have people all over this shipyard! I doubt they can’t handle ONE marine!” He yelled across the table.
“I’m sure Billy is waiting patiently for that phone call to come in to tell him that I have been found unharmed.” You said in a sarcastic and teasing tone. “He would never EVER get in the way of authority figures.”
Fisk made a motion like he was going to walk over and strike you when a figure dressed in all black shattered the flimsy glass by diving through the window.
Before Wesley could pull out his gun, the figure moved in front of you and pushed you away from the table when two shots came from the window. One bullet went into Wesley’s head, the other into Fisk’s chest and he collapsed onto the ground.
Clutching his chest, Fisk looked up at the figure who just shot him and they pulled the hood up away from their face.
It was Billy.
“I wanted you to see my face as I watch the life drain from yours.” Billy growled.
Coughing up blood, Fisk managed to ask, “H-how?”
Billy flashed that perfect smile of his but he had an evil twist behind it. He ejected the blade from his wrist and inched closer to Fisk’s face before opening his throat and twisting the blade so the wound wouldn’t close.
“How?” Billy asked. “You took what is most precious to me in this world, you took what was MINE. And you fucked with the wrong marines.” He hissed.
Billy removed the blade from Fisk’s neck and watched as his blood pooled on the floor underneath him and the light faded from his eyes.
Frank lifted his mask.
“You ok, sweetheart?” He asked, trying to catch his breath.
“You came for me too, Frank?” You asked.
“Of course I did. I wasn’t gonna let Bill do this by himself.” He said, cutting your hands loose. “I tell ya what, kid. I’m surprised he didn’t try and hit you before I jumped through the window, you have a mouth on you.” He said with a smirk.
Billy rushed to your side and fell to his knees. “You alright, sweet girl?!” He pulled you into a tight embrace, so tight that it made it hard to breathe and kissed the top of your head.
“I’m ok, Billy. Really, I am. Only slightly traumatized, I think.” You said with a warm smile.
Billy’s lips collided with yours, his long slender fingers tangled in your hair as he planted kisses all over your forehead and your cheeks before wrapping his fingers around your throat like a necklace and softly kissing your lips again.
“I love you…so much.” He said, his onyx colored eyes gazed at you like he hasn’t seen you in a week.
Tears pricked the back of your eyes and one streaked down your cheek before he brushed it away with his thumb. “I love you too, Billy.”
“I hate to break this up, but we gotta get outta here.” Said Frank.
On the way back, Frank and Billy told you exactly what to say when you walk into the police station. Billy held you close in the back seat while Frank drove, his heart was racing, and you felt the gentle rise and fall of his chest against the side of your face.
He came for you and killed everyone that got in his way, including the Kingpin of New York City. The rage in his eyes died down and the tension in his body relaxed as soon as he held you in his arms again. You were back with him, where you belonged, and if he had to, he would do it all again without hesitation.
Billy valued your life more than he valued his own, he loved you more than anything, and he would take on the entire city if it meant you would stay safe.
He flashed that perfect smile at you after he kissed you goodbye. You weren’t even gone for very long but you missed that smile and wondered if you were ever going to see it again.
“I’ll be back to get you and you’re never walking by yourself ever again.” He said with a wink.
No one has ever shown you the kind of love Billy has and he’s never known love by anyone which is why you always made it a point to tell him every day how much you loved him, how you felt safe with him, and how you would never abandon him like so many others had done before.
His chin rested on top of your head in the back of the car, as his fingers danced up and down your arm, soothing you and telling you he’d never let anyone hurt you again.
You didn’t want to but you had to tell him.
“Billy?”
“Yeah baby?” He answered.
“They took my watch…the one you gave me for Christmas.” You had said.
Billy kissed the top of your head. “I’ll get you a new one, my love.”
You leaned back to look up at him through your long dark lashes and pulled him in close to your face and gently kissed him.
“Until the end of time, Billy?” You whispered.
He just smiled his million dollar smile at you and replied, “Until the end of time, sweet girl.”
Before going inside the station, you paused on the sidewalk and looked up at the sky, painted black and navy with the moon cast behind the clouds. Tears welled up in your eyes because just a few hours ago, you weren’t certain you would ever see the sky again and you were incredibly thankful to be alive.
You weren’t sure the sun would ever kiss the high points of your face again or see the person you loved most that would rather watch the world burn than live without you in it.
Under the pale moonlight, you closed your eyes, and inhaled sharply. The lingering smell of salt from the shipyard still fresh as you took a deep breath in through your nose and then exhaling, watching your warm breath meet the crisp autumn air outside.
You took in the familiar city scents that you never wanted to take for granted again, fresh coffee, warm toasted almonds, and pizza slices hot from the oven. The sounds of broken bottles hitting the sidewalk, car alarms, and ambulance sirens were all music to your ears.
You were alive because he fought for you…and won.
Stepping inside the police station, you saw uniforms everywhere, they were carrying papers, rushing past you, and not giving you a second look before one stopped, looked at your disheveled appearance, and asked, “Are you alright miss?”
You stood up straight, nodded, and replied.
“Yes…I’d like to report a kidnapping. And a bunch of dead bodies.”

Who get the biggest passes from Buffyverse fans and can you give examples of the worst things these characters do?
Well this is a juicy question.
Spike, and Cordelia.
Interestingly, at some point, both characters were given the role of calling Buffy out on her "crap." James Marsters even talks about how he was brought in as a replacement for Cordelia in season 4, but then was replaced by Anya when they decided to do something else with him.
With Cordy being the mean girl, and Spike the soulless vampire, the writers had the freedom to use these characters to say and do some incredibly cruel things towards Buffy in the name of "brutal honesty," while also excusing their behavior because they weren't meant to be the hero...at least initially.
This worked a little too well, as Charisma and James were amazing in their roles. Each character is charming, beautiful, multifaceted, and extremely funny.
The problem is, you can't keep your characters stagnate, so the writers were forced to give Cordy and Spike character growth, but also find a way to retain who they are. This is incredibly difficult when your character was literally written to clash with Buffy, and is popular for saying mean, biting things in the name of "tough love."
-Cordelia-
While Queen C is more than the resident mean girl, her cruel words and selfish behavior are praised as "truth" and confidence, with her belittling nearly every member of the Scooby gang. She is constantly pitting herself against Buffy; (Homecoming, Halloween, etc) demeaning and belittling her when Buffy has personally saved her life several times. She begins to show signs of character growth in season 3, but once Xander cheats on her, reverts right back to blaming Buffy for everything. Instead of holding Xander accountable for his actions, she makes a wish that Buffy never came to Sunnydale, and then never sees the consequences for her own actions.
Even after her move to LA, she calls Buffy a cry-Buffy, blames her for turning Angel into Angelus, emasculates Wesley, victim blames and shames a SA survivor (Untouched), and is generally just careless about what she says or does, with no thought about how her words effect others.
Personally, while I do see some growth over her time on Angel, I do not buy her characterization in the later seasons where she is drastically changed to become a Champion, and then shoe-horned into a relationship with Angel. On top of that, she never atones for or even recognizes her need to change for her awful behavior, and that makes it very hard for me to forgive her for her past sins, let alone root for her.
It's possible that with better writing and without Joss being a horrible person, that her transition would have been more organic and believable.
-Spike-
For a show about feminism, the writers really spend a lot of time on this man. He steals Buffy's underwear, stalks her, makes a sex robot that looks just like her, attempts to kill her multiple times, boasts about killing and torturing other slayers, justifies it by saying they wanted it, ties her up, then spends a season belittling her just so that she'll sleep with him. THEN when she refuses sex with him, attempts to force himself on her.
And for those of you who say, "oh he just didn't have a soul yet." Fine.
After he had a soul, he boasts about assaulting her, shames her for using him for sex when he knew she didn't love him, shames her for not loving him, and blames her for the reason he's tortured with having a soul. (Beneath You)
He nearly kills Robin Wood, and then mocks him for not being loved by his mother (which is proven to be false in "Damage"), all while wearing the coat that he stole from Robin's mother after he killed her.
Not once does he apologize to Buffy or attempt to hold himself accountable, even after he has a soul. It is not until "Damage" on Angel that we see any sort of unselfish remorse.
Then to add insult to injury, season 7 has Buffy spending so much time taking care of Spike, rescuing Spike, training with Spike, reassuring Spike that he is a good man...all to the detriment of her other relationships. People like to blame the Potentials for why season 7 is as clunky as it is, but I blame the focus on Spike.
Even worse, the show doesn't seem to want Spike to change, as there's hardly a difference between pre souled and ensouled Spike. And that goes against the show's core tenant of choice and growth.
From the very beginning, vampires represent the opposite of adolescence in that they are stagnate and do not change. "Fool for Love" very clearly establishes that Spike's persona is created to compensate for his lack of an identity. Cecily's rejection of him deeply wounds him and he is shown to create a facade to mask his insecurities. So he takes from powerful women and forms a false identity around them to prove that he is not beneath them. The episode emphasizes this pattern with Cecily, Dru, and the two Slayers, continuing in present day with Buffy.
In order to be consistent with the lore and message of the show, ensouled Spike needed to look a lot different from un-ensouled Spike, but the writers knew he wouldn't be as popular.
And so we're left with a half baked season where we're supposed to believe that Buffy is distant from everyone but Spike, who looks the exact same as he did the season before when he tried to force himself on her.
It's just icky. It's the opposite of empowering. It blurs the lines of the lore. And it sends the wrong message.
We can like these characters and even root for them, but we need to be honest about their flaws, and not justify awful writing and problematic characterization.

Songs that give me Leowaine vibes with little to no explanation:
Shut up and dance - Walk the moon Heart Attack - Demi Lovato Mercy - Shawn Mendes Leave Her Wild - Tyler Rich Don't give up on me - Andy Grammer Honey, I'm Good - Andy Grammer (this just screams Gwaine turning people down after he gets with Leon) Uptown Girl - Billy Joel Heartbreaker - P!nk (defiantly Leon's POV) Gone, gone, gone - Phillip Phillips Someone new - Hozier (less Leowaine and more just Gwaine but still) Can I be him - James Arthur Die first - Nessa Barrett If We Were Vampires - Noah Kahan feat. Wesley Schultz (this and Die first matched with Leon the immortal gives so many feels) The first part of The Story of Tonight reprise from Hamilton (this would so be the knights' response to Gwaine getting married, especially to Leon)
Let me know if you can think of any others. I'm always happy to find new songs to add to my playlist

Casual confirmation.
“So” said Nolan, looking around the full living room “Tim came to watch the game, that ok with everyone?”
Nyla, James, Angela, Bailey and Lucy all make noises of consent.
“I’ll see what we’ve got in the fridge for snacks, does anyone need another drink?” Said Bailey getting up from the end of the sofa
“I’ll come and help” offered Angela, Nyla stands with them and the three women walk towards the kitchen. John walks round and takes the seat that Bailey had vacated, he starts fiddling with the remote finding the correct channel whilst Tim walks towards Lucy.
“Here, you take this chair” Lucy says, standing. Tim opens his mouth to argue but Lucy doesn’t let him. “Which one of us has had back surgery? Hmmm” she laughs, adding a muttered “old man” under her breath as she shuffles past the coffee table to gather the soft orange cushions at the end of the sofa. She pops one on the ground between James and the seat now occupied by Tim. Sliding to the floor she placed the other cushion behind her back. She was about to reassure Tim of how comfy she was when a loud peel of laughter hit them from the kitchen, followed quickly by Nolan finding the correct channel. Angela and Nyla came back with several bottles of beer and a fresh bottle of both red and white wines.
“Lucy we can make space for you on the sofa” Angela says as she pats the space on the far end of the sofa between her and Nolan. Lucy Looks at the seat being offered and then at Tim, at their feet centimetres from each other, and shakes her head.
“I’m all comfy here now, but thanks” neither Lucy or Tim miss the look that passes from Angela to Nyla to Bailey, who has arrived back with a large bowl of chips and dips. Nothing gets past these three super smart women.
By this time there’s only around 30 minutes left of the game, it passes easily the group chatting casually. Swapping stories with Bailey, Wesley coming back in from settling Jack in one of the spare bedrooms and James nipping out to deal with Leah in the other. With all adults back in the room and the game over the question turns to what they should do next.
“Maybe we should think about heading home” James suggests, Nyla turns sharply eyebrows raised “or not!” James says quickly “How about a little games night?”
“Couples games night!” Angela said with delight, a pointed look at Tim
“I’m not really a games night kind of person” said Tim gruffly
“Yes but Lucy is”
And Angela wasn’t wrong, Lucy had perked up at the mention of games and now she turned her face up towards Tim, from the floor “Please” she asked softly.
Tim sighed “fine” Lucy smiled brightly and somewhat bravely closed the distance between their feet and used her now bare toes to rub the back of his calf.
More looks were passed, this time between all the other occupants of the room. Angela look triumphant as she said “well the teams are obvious! Let’s start with questions. Bailey do you have an actual game or shall I look on line for questions?” Angela had fully taken charge and it was clearly making Tim nervous as he shifted in his seat.
Nyla and James went first, Angela read out questions from an app she found on her phone. They did well, Nyla knew what James’ first ever job was and James new the name of Nyla’s first boyfriend amongst other things. Bailey and Nolan were next up, Nyla took over as question master and the group laughed as Nolan tried to remember all the jobs Bailey had had and Bailey made Nolan blush guessing his favourite physical feature of hers. Once they had answered all their questions the phone was passed to Lucy to ask Angela and Wesley their questions, no one was surprised by how quickly and sweetly the pair answered every question correctly. “You have been together the longest, so it’s not really much of a surprise” said Lucy with a fond smile.
“But technically you and Tim have known each other longer, haven’t you?” Said Nyla with a mischievous grin “you two should sail through these” she said taking the phone from Lucy and passing it to Bailey. Tim looked down at Lucy, Lucy gazed back up at him fiercely. The challenge had been accepted! Within the first two questions Lucy was up on her knees. Her hands on Tim’s leg, as if trying to shake the answer to the name of her childhood pets into him. By the fifth question she was perching on the edge of the coffee table in front of him, both her legs in between his, a hand on each of his knees. He was laughing at her overexcitedness, gazing at her with unfiltered adoration. The game finished, all the couples happily declared Wesley and Angela the winners of this round. Lucy, instead of returning to her original space, merely turned around and sat on the floor between Tim’s knees, her back up against the chair. Tim absentmindedly played with her hair as Angela prepared the next game.
As the night had gone on and Tim and Lucy had relaxed the enquiring and surprised looks between their friends had lessened to be replaced by looks of affection and happiness as they took in the pair who had clearly, finally, taken that step beyond coworkers and friends. There was nothing to say, no questions to ask, the actions before them stood for themselves.
The four couples played different games, laughed and drank late into the night. Nolan had already offered Nyla and James and Angela and Wesley their spare rooms for the night when they’d put the babies down hours before. So it was just Tim and Lucy needing to say goodbye at the end of the night. Tim had drunk a single beer when he had arrived and watched the game, he had noticed Lucy happily enjoying her drink so in a quiet moment had told her he would drive her home and she could keep drinking, which may have added to her competitive spirit. “Lucy, it’s time to go.” Tim tried again, he had been trying to get Lucy out the door for ten minutes now but she was definitely tipsy and was keen to keep chatting. He walked up behind her put one hand on her hip and the other on her shoulder and tried to turn her gently.
“Will you make me pancakes for breakfast?” She asked out of nowhere. He glanced up quickly at the others, he wasn’t sure why but it was probably going to take some getting used to, behaving like a normal couple in front of their friends.
“If you get in the car now, I promise to make you pancakes” he ignored Angela and Bailey ahhing from behind him as he steered Lucy finally through the front door. As the door closed behind them he heard Bailey announce loudly “who knew he could be so sweet?” To which Angela replied “To Lucy? Always” he couldn’t help but smile as he led his girlfriend to his truck.
