and obviously you find yourself thinking oh i do wish i could get severed to do this one thing. would you actually maybe not. but you do wish you didn't have to undergo medical procedures you do wish you didn't have to do the things that give you anxiety you do wish you didn't have to do tedious tasks that barely even require you to be present for them. it's tempting. that's why the premise works. but the premise is also that somebody has to do it. somebody has to go to the dentist and somebody has to get on that plane and somebody has to write those thank you notes. just like somebody has to clean the house and somebody has to harvest the food you eat and somebody has to make the clothes you wear. you can't eliminate inconvenience you can only delegate it. you can't eliminate suffering you can only delegate it. and always the easiest way to live with this is to see that somebody as less than. less than you less than people. and if that somebody has to wear your body to do it well maybe it's not all that different. they're not a person. you are. it's capitalism all the way down baby

I saw a post by another Jewish person on this site that said Christianity and Islam stole their culture. That isn't a popular opinion among Jews is it?
I mean it's not an opinion, it's historical fact. But also most of us wouldn't care if they didn't blame everything bad about their appropriated and heavily altered cultures on us, and also spent over a thousand years each killing us for not going along with and joining their appropriated and distorted versions of our culture and religion. Christianity was a creation of the Roman empire and its religious system. Once it moved beyond a handful of Jews to a religion of mostly gentile converts, it changed rapidly into something that was only on the surface like Judaism. That superficial version of Judaism with Roman culture underneath is an example of how imperial cultural theft is not a modern phenominon.
Islam is a similar situation, in which a non-Jewish man built a new religion out of the bits and pieces he liked from both Judaism and Christianity, set out to create an empire for that religion, and when Jews had the temerity to not convert, to this new religion, he branded them as deceivers and traitors, and led a massacre of them in his conquered territory.
This happened long enough ago that generations upon generations have been raised in these cultures founded on appropriation, and most Jews would never think to say that these modern people are responsible for this appropriation or should give up their cultures. However, the murder and oppression both Islam and Christianity as institutions have inflicted on the Jewish people is made that little extra bit more galling by those original acts of cultural appropriation.

Sae Niijima is such a good character it drives me insane a little. She's not a mother nor a maternal or doting older sister but instead a twenty four year old who was thrown into a position of responsibility that she never asked for. She loves Makoto just as much as she resents her and its so apparent every time they talk up until November. "Are you studying?" (I want you to do well) (I need you to get a job and stop making my life harder) "I'll use any method necessary to get this promotion" (Life will be easier for us) (So stop distracting me with your problems) "Focus on your future" (I know that you're capable) (I can't afford to waste my time on you, so stop wasting time on others)
Makoto is not only the sole reason she pushes as hard as she does for a promotion, for success, and the reason that she loses herself in her animosity over her fathers death, but also someone she can't stand for so long. Makoto was 14-15 when their father died. Sae was 21. As soon as she got the career she wanted and things started to look up, her stability was robbed from her and she was disillusioned with the system that her father had taught her to rely on and completely adhere to. How do you manage, the daughter of a cop, following his footsteps towards law enforcement, when you're suddenly reminded of how unfair it is? You can't quit, your little sister relies on you and she's so young and struggling just as badly with this grief. So you pick yourself up and you get moving again. You push harder, press further. You abandon your morals and your ethics because punishing criminals (guilty or not) is almost like punishing the man who killed your father.
And the whole time she's fighting for promotions, going for drinks with the SIU Director to make herself more favourable for promotions, trying to navigate being a woman in a competitive, suffocating, male-dominated field, falling behind despite doing so much where others are promoted for doing so little - all the while your little sister comes back from school and her biggest issues are so small compared to yours.
Persona 5 revolves so heavily around grief and loss and change and Sae embodies all of that so well, all of the sharp and unpleasant and jagged parts of grief.

I find the fact that the confrontation at the end of UTRH is often summarized as Jason asking Bruce to kill the Joker for him fascinating.
Because that's not what happened.
Jason holds a gun up to Joker's head, gives Bruce another, and tells him that if Bruce doesn't do something (shoot Jason), he will kill Joker.
Jason doesn't give the gun to Bruce so that he would shoot Joker. He isn't expecting Bruce to pull the trigger on the clown. He's asking Bruce to do nothing. To be inactive. Because that will still be a choice, and despite having done nothing, everybody clearly agrees that Bruce would still, at least in part, be responsible for Joker's death.
...And to me, this moment is a kind of- microcosm, of the rest of Jason's point. Because after being captured and carted off to Arkham, the villain will escape again, and will kill more people. The only way to truly prevent that from happening would be to kill them; Bruce refuses to do so, and I respect his right to choose such a thing for himself, but it is still a choice, and if we agree that Bruce's inaction during the confrontation would leave him at least partly responsible for the Joker's death, then we must also agree that his inaction in permanently preventing the Rogues from killing more people means he is also, partly, responsible for all of those deaths.

I had a European exchange student who lived with me for a short while. One of her culture shocks was that, I didn't care much about my birthday. It's not in a sad way either; I just go on my day like a normal day, which is pretty common here.
No cakes, no gifts (sometimes. but if not, that's fine as well), no party – you get the point. If I do want to celebrate, I'll just buy myself a burger and a random candle for fun, stuff like that. it is all my choice btw.
This culture shock went on whenever her classmates had a birthday. They were either like, 'cool, thanks,' didn't care, or were shy and tried to ignore that they had a birthday at all. I'm not saying that none of us celebrate; it's just very common for us to not celebrate it as well.
I don't know—she was genuinely surprised about it. So from my perspective, birthdays are a huge deal in her hometown.
And I'm curious,

if you want people to get into the canon comics and lead everyone away from fanon misinterpretation (which is a losing battle because there will ALWAYS be this) then why not be helpful instead of being a dick about it 🤨
the comics are hard to get into because it's hard to know where to start, and there's so much content that people are able to fill themselves in by reading fanfic or watching something on tiktok or seeing posts about it on here. perhaps instead of telling people they're stupid for not realizing your favorite character is being mishandled by others, you could write up a list of your favorite comics and/or how, if you could read them for the first time again, you would order your favorite comics to get the best reading experience. and also write your own fanfiction and draw your own fanart or make a passionate post, answer questions politely

What have you seen in the difference in 5-on-5 year over year? What’s up? 5-on-5, year over year, what do you see different? I don’t know, I mean - what do you mean? I don’t know.
Like even strength. Yeah, what about it?

Ghost hunting au with blade and jing yuan would be so funny tbh like imagine you being scared af navigating this haunted as hell house and meanwhile jing yuan is the embodiment of the "hello demons it's me ya boy."
blade is standing behind the camera filming the two of you with the most judgmental look on his face.
