so what kind of vampires are present in cosmic legends?
Literally every single type, and this doesn't only pertain to Vampires.
Think of words like Vampire or Werewolf like the word Dog; it's an umbrella term that encompasses any number of different breeds.
A Yorki and a Great Dane are both Dogs, but you wouldn't call a Great Dane a Yorki, and vice versa, 'cause those terms refer to a specific breed.
So a Nosferatu and a Venerable Overlord are both Vampires, but if you referred to a Venerable Overlord as a Nosferatu, you'd get your face ripped off.
Same with Werewolves, Wolfmen and Sacred Wolves are both Werewolves, but it's wildly different strains of the Lycanthropy virus.
Note: I have used the most diluted forms (Nosferatu and Wolfmen) vs. the most pure forms (Venerable Overlords and Sacred Wolves) as my examples, but there are a lot more strains than what was listed. Also Diluted vs. Pure just refers to how much your line contains "turned" rather than "born". Some families care, others don't, the purity of which not really being the root of this, it's really just a personal preference thing.

Again not a dungeon meshi reader/watcher but every time I hear about that laois guy I get reminded of how my system had/has a hyperfixation on dragons so intense that we got that big fancy dragonology book and we treated it like the damn dragon Bible for like years
Now, obviously, we understand that there's different interpretations on mythical creatures, and no one interpretation on a dragon is necessarily gospel, but that multiple interpretations on the classic tale of beasts of scale and fire are completely valid and to be expected!
however if you call an Eastern dragon a coatl I'm going to come to your house and slaughter your family
#THEY'RE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT#yes they have similarities but coatls have WINGS typically and dont usually have other limbs. they're more serpentine birds#meanwhile Eastern dragons (Chinese depictions for example) don't typically have wings and are more lizard-like#like Mushu !!!!!!!! Mushu is an Eastern dragon#and then there's drakes and wyrms. which are entirely different bc they can't really fly#drakes are more like draconic horses or dogs. no wings but four limbs and a tail with a reptilian appearance#wyrms are more serpentine with no limbs and no wings. though i think some interpretations of wyrms give them like.. two forelimbs#then there's wyverns. wyverns have two legs and two wings instead of the typical eight limbs (four limbs two wings)#(i also perosnally hold true to the interpretation of wyverns with poisonous stingers for tails but that's just me cause i think its cool)#..... how much of this is just me talking abiut dragons#explodes.#oh yeah and obv there's the HTTYD interpretations which i adore! they're interesting#the designs are so fascinating and from what ive seen seem to have some science behind them#and arent just the typical western style of dragons. which nothing wrong with the western style it's a classic ofc#but it's still fun to see some variation!!#and ofc there's WOF#which holds true to Western dragons in simple anatomy but has its own variations and of course its own lore#then there's. fuck i forget the name but it's a fantasy story based in China i believe#i loved it so much it was so cool#anyways it had a dragon character named Seryu. I love Seryu. he my favorite#anyways i liked the interpretation of dragons there bc iirc it held true to ummmmm some Chinese mythology involving dragons#cause Eastern mythology of drahons is . so much diffetent than Western#Western dragons are commonly very monstrous creatures‚ usually very animalistic#they tend to embody the Christian concept of greed/gluttony hence why they're so typically monstrous/villainous#which i find interesting but i wont get into that#meanwhile. i wanna say Eastern dragon legends more revolve around the idea of a dragon as more of a godly/fae-type creature?#that's probably a poor comparison but that's how i interpreted it. agian im probahly wronf about all of this#im some weirdo rambling about dragons on the internet. dont trust me explicitly#i need to get more dragon mythology books#HELP I REACHED THE TAG LIMIT I DIDNT THINK THAT WAS POSSIBLE GOOD LORD OKAY I'LL SHUT UP NOW

speaking of snake dragons, i wanna see more snekky dragons from FE in the future. especially a black mamba.
the little creechers are so cute. extremely deadly and absolutely not something you want to encounter out in the wild (they're only aggressive if threatened or cornered, but better to be safe than sorry ya know), but absolutely adorable. look at their little smile. their little grin. their little beady eyes. i love them so much
Veyle's dragon form is a black mamba. in my own little world of headcanons at least.
I'M REALLY GLAD make the headcanons you want to see in the world!

A drake has four legs no wings, a wyvern has two legs two wings. Your Bluebeard Drake should be called a Bluebeard Wyvern./nm (I just saw your post and the autism acted up)
"drake" is just a generic term for a dragon in mythology. making dragon/dragon/wyrm/etc separate concepts is a very modern trope that originated from works like dungeons and dragons - you don't have to use their worldbuilding anymore than you have to make your original aliens fit into the star wars world

Arranged marriage?
Chapter two.
Royal au
Pairing: princess (to be queen) Natasha X autistic queen reader.
Warnings: Natasha being an asshole. (She gets better... Just not yet.) Natasha getting feelings?
Y/n pov:
The gardens. Meant to be peaceful and calming. But unfortunately I have another meeting with a seething princess Romanoff. She's mad because of how our last interaction went. Me having a meltdown over scrolls and books. Well Natasha calls it a meltdown. I call it being rationally upset over precious history being damaged. But I don't think I could get away with telling Natasha to leave again so I let her rant. Not that I'm listening. I've always been terrible at that..
"are you even listening to me!?"
I'm startled out of my thoughts by those angry words. I glance at Natasha again. I blink slightly as I register the question.
"oh uh.. no."
I then realised that's probably the wrong response as Natasha goes into another loud rant. I'm surprised she's known for her rich kingdom and powerful presence and not overly loud rants that don't need to happen. I would much rather be on the molten wyrm walk down in the southern parts of my kingdom that's happening right now but princess Romanoffs family insisted we meet up today at this time. It's as if the entire family doesn't want me to enjoy my dragons.
"yes princess Romanoff I apologise for my insolent behaviour from our last conversation."
The words come like clockwork. The amount of times I've apologised to this woman I don't even know. But then again it may not be that many since I never counted. I stand up wanting to at least try and get this meeting to come to some sort of an agreeable end and I offer my hand to Natasha.
"perhaps you would entertain a walk with me around my gardens?"
Natasha pov:
I'm pissed. Very very pissed. I'm meant to marry an incompetent woman who seems to have no dignity or self confidence. She's a push over but perhaps this could be useful in further advances to kill her later on. I despise the fact that y/n is offering a walk. As if I would like to walk with her. I would like to shove a knife in her skull. But I can't. Not until we marry and my parents are content. So I shall have to agree.
"very well then. Let us hope your insolent nature doesn't intrude this time."
I scowl as I take queen y/n's hand. And despite the fact I despise the queen with every inch of my existence I must admit her hands are soft and warm. But I ignore it and walk.
Thus far this walk has been uninteresting and a disappointment all round. And I've made that known by complaints. Queen y/n seems to be taking it well. But I doubt she's listening. That wretched woman never is. It's always dragons with her. Something wyrm this something serpent that. Nobody cares about the creatures because of how common it is to find plant drakes and poison lily wyverns in one's garden or even a mouse dragon in one's walls. But it seems as though this woman is stuck on the things.
"and did you know that while Treetailed pixie dragons are commonly found small and the size of someone's palm they actually grow to be the height of any other tree but nobody notices them because of their specially designed tails. So if you look close enough in woods or even orchards you might find one living there unnoticed."
Queen y/n spouts. She's been talking about these dragons nonstop since we were walking. The only break I get is my complaints about how the walk is stupid. I glare down at y/n as she keeps yapping away. But I'm caught off guard when my immediate first thought is she's cute.
Now I'm upset with myself. Why was that my first thought. Queen y/n is anything but cute. She's a weird queen who holds no grasp over her kingdom and is obsessed over common creatures such as dragons. Though I suppose the ones she mentions are ones I never learned about. And it's endearing when she rants. I internally smack myself at that thought. No. Absolutely not. Y/n is not cute or endearing. She's annoying and weak. And she'll be just another murder under my belt in a few more years.
Y/n pov:
I hardly focus on princess Romanoff beside me as I talk. I had spotted a Bumblefluff quetzalcoatl and hadn't stopped talking about dragons since. Though I can see Natasha getting upset with me about it. I internally sigh as I slow down my rant. Perhaps I should be known for my rants considering I do it as much as Natasha. Only my ants are useful. Not mean. Like princess Romanoffs are.
I glance over at said princess and notice her deep in thought with herself. She looks angry. I suppose that's my fault. Must've said something to annoy her. Though it could've been my entire speech. I don't know. Reading people is hard no matter what anyone tells me.
"princess are you ok?"
I'm asking, trying not to be rude like Natasha herself is. I hope it doesn't come across as nosy. I never can tell how people will take my inquiries. Almost always to offense though.
"does it look like I'm ok!?"
Natasha snarls. I never knew she could snarl like that. It was almost animalistic. Too real. I flinch away slightly and fidget with my fingers. There's no books to take my attention away here. I sigh and shake my head.
"no."
I mumble softly. Though this causes a worse reaction out of Natasha. Now she's yelling about how stupid am to ask if she's ok when she's definitely not. I was trying to be nice. But I guess she took it the wrong way. I dodge one of Natasha's hands as she flails them around as she screeches at me for the millionth time. I let her get it out of her system before talking again.
"I apologise princess."
*I speak gently. I hate when people yell at me. Their screaming irritates my ears. I'll avoid social interaction for a while after this. Maybe forever. That sounds nicer than a life condemned to princess Natasha Romanoff. I sigh and keep walking. Now in silence with Natasha. Until I see another Bumblefluff quetzalcoatl and get excited again.
I rush over but slow as I near the small dragon. It's on a lead as of current looking between an orange or yellow flower. I sit a bit away and watch in silence as the small Quetzalcoatl goes about its business. And by the colours it's a female. The yellow and black have been dulled to a near white and grey. The makes are normally brighter and have twinges of orange in the larger ones. I practically squeal with delight as I watch the Bumblefluff quetzalcoatl.
Natasha pov:
I ranted to y/n. This time about my frustrations with her and her dragon obsession. I also slipped the fact I'm going to murder her. Only to test if the queen listens. She doesn't even comment on it. Though I feel guilty when I see y/n flinch. That's not what I had intended. I stop screaming after a few moments and our walk falls to silence. Until queen y/n exits my side and rushes over to a second bumble fizz cutie colt or whatever she said it's name was.
I groan lightly as I stop walking and watch the woman who's meant to be a queen act like a young princess. But y/n does look adorable as she watches the funny dragon she's examining. Wait now she doesn't. Y/n is a frail queen I'll destroy when the time is right.
Y/n is not adorable, endearing or cute. Y/n is not adorable, endearing or cute. Y/n is not adorable, endearing or cute. It's like my fucking mantra now. I'm just repeating it over and over in my skull. Me and the queen are walking again and the gardens end is in view. I practically jump in delight but that's not queenly behaviour so I don't. I'm just trying to keep myself together for the remainder of this horrid walk. Queen y/n is yapping about small dragons again. I'm forcing myself to think it's rancid. And I'm mad I'm needing to force that opinion when it should be natural.
I try not to make a happy noise as the gardens finally come to an end and me and y/n are back where we began. Though I know I'm probably glowing. I can leave. And hammer in the thoughts of queen y/n being only an obstacle again. These thoughts of the queen being sweet are hindering my plan to assassinate her later. I won't have that.
"it seems our walk has ended. And just in time too I need to leave."
I speak in a passive aggressive tone. Though I don't think y/n realises I'm was being passive aggressive since she agrees with me. I hurry over the goodbyes. Desperate to leave this dreaded castle and it's dreaded owner and her dreaded influence over my mind. I eventually get out of the castle grounds and I'm back in my carriage. Going home. I need to get my priorities straight again before these thoughts get in my way.
A/n: I decided to write a Nat pov for this chapter since I could imagine how her side of this interaction would go. Not all chapters will be spilt povs but some of them will. Hope this suffices as a chapter.

Happy Dracones Monday! Firedrakes!
Tumblr media
Happy Dracones Monday! This Monday we're looking at four dragon species at once, the firedrakes! Here they are, approximately to scale with eachother.
The glitterdrake is the smallest, the size of a large lizard or small cat. They live in laurel forests on Macaronesian Islands, in the Atlantic near Africa. Glitterdrakes aren't based on mythology; I put them on Macaronesia because I couldn't find Macaronesian dragon mythology but I am trying to put dragons EVERYWHERE on the map. Also, putting these dragons on an archipelago of islands means I can have a lot of island subspecies and colour morphs - glitterdrakes represent colourful fantasy dragons, so having them come in every colour (sapphire blue, ruby red, emerald green, royal purple, burning gold, shining silver etc.) was important to me.
The Welsh dragon is smaller than the other European firedrakes at 1.5 meters. They are no less fierce - there aren't any common firedrakes in Wales as a common firedrake cannot maintain a territory there for long. Originally I had the Welsh dragon as a subspecies of the common firedrake, but decided that this dragon had so much personality and folklore that it could get it's own chapter.
The common firedrake is found in Western Europe, 4m long. When designing these I noticed in a lot of heraldry dragons don't seem to have horns? Ears yes, but hornless? Also I noticed that dragons in heraldry tend to have the dorsal finlets from the back of the head to between their shoulders, but no further, which is something I have kept for all my firedrake species.
The viridian firedrake is the largest firedrake species, over 5m long. They are found in Eastern and Southern Europe, and in Russia. I based their appearance on old storybook illustrations to make them look very 'classic', which is why they have horns and cheek frills compared to the more heraldic and hornless common firedrake.
Rant about the term 'firedrake' under the cut! :)
In other creative works, these are called 'classic dragons', 'European dragons', 'true dragons' and 'Western dragons', but I am not a fan of these terms - 'true dragon' implies other dragons are untrue dragons, which is nonsense. 'Western dragon' or 'European dragon' is largely accurate (the 4 legged 2 winged dragon design is common in Europe and the West) but there are other Western and European dragons (wyrms and wyverns) and I find these terms confusing when other types of dragons are taken into account. Also, some Asian dragons also have 4 legs and 2 wings. 'Classic' dragons... serpentine and wyrmish dragons are more classic than 4 legged 2 winged firebreathers, etc.
I went with 'firedrake' as a term for these dragons because 'drake', 'drachen', 'ddraig', 'drac', 'drak' and 'dreki' are all words for dragons like this in European languages, and because firedrake is a word used in literature like some translations of Beowulf and, of course, Tolkien's Legendarium (firedrake comes from Old English fȳrdraca). I think it's a good word that easily conjures up fire breathing four legged, two winged dragons without making them more 'true' or 'classic' than other dragon types or tying them specifically to 'European' and 'Western' countries.
In Dracones Mundi I really try to get a huge diversity of dragons across to the readers. There are around 68 dragon species in this project, only 4 of which are firedrakes. I want to show readers there is more to dragon mythology than "here is a western dragon, they are evil and associated with fire, here is an eastern dragon, they are good and associated with water" - I want to dig deeper. I want people to know about azhdarha, about cuélebres, about coameh. So I'm shining the spotlight away from these firedrakes and trying to make them a small part of a much larger discussion. :)

Urban Fantasy Animals
I couldn't resist adding a small zoo of magical animals to this WIP, most of which are specifically for the joy of having a little magical pet. Here I have outlined the favorites of mine that I'll be including in the various anthology stories! You can find this and more world-building details on my Neocities site! Unnamed Urban Fantasy Anthology Taglist (Check out my Google Form to get added): @foxys-fantasy-tales @auroblaze @thelaughingstag @auntdarth @damageinkorporated
Dragon
European and Eastern type, drakes, wyverns, wyrms, etc.
Can be as small as a ferret, or the size of a Great Dane
Are kept as pets regularly
Depending on the species, dragon behaviors can vary from "lazy cat" to "purebred working border collie", so it's very important to research the kind of dragon that's right for the home
Griffon
Originally a lion and an eagle, but can be any combination of cat and bird after years of selective breeding and the influence of magic in different regions
The larger species’ are big enough for an adult to ride comfortably, but there are also smaller breeds kept as pets
Unicorn
Can be any horse with a horn glued on it
Are particularly picky about who they allow to ride them
Basically just a magic horse, so it's used for transportation, sports, pets, animal therapy, etc.
Pegasus
Can be any horse with wings glued on it
Incredibly skittish, even compared to a standard horse
Basically just a horse with wings, so it's used for transportation, sports, pets, animal therapy, etc.
Hippocampus
The upper body of any horse with the lower body of various fish
Used in water rescues, sports, and short-distance water transportation and recreation (think of them like living motorboats or jet skis)
Mimic
Modern day mimics can copy standard mimic objects (chests, rocks, etc.), but also modern-day objects, like music boxes, safes, microwaves, etc.
Most of them are wild animals, but can be kept as exotic pets
As they grow, they mimic bigger and bigger things, with the treasure chest size being the biggest. Technically, they never stop growing, but as they age, growth and mimicry become a larger and larger burden. Nearly every mimic dies of old age before it can even begin to mimic something bigger than a chest.
Imagine a venus flytrap crossed with a hermit crab
Gargoyle
Carved from a special magic rock that comes alive when crafted
Behave like magic pigeons, flying down from buildings to beg for pebbles
Are also kept as pets. Some are even specially commissioned!
Basilisk
Created by a chicken hatching a reptile egg
Giant serpentine creature with chicken features, poison breath, leaves a trail of venom wherever it slithers, and is able to kill with a glance
Often confused with a cockatrice
Cockatrice
Created by a reptile hatching a chicken egg
A giant chicken with serpentine features, with similar powers to the basilisk, including being able to kill by glancing at its targets
Often confused with a basilisk
Phoenix
Classic phoenix, the bird that dies and comes back to life from its own ashes
Although it appears to be "coming back to life" it's actually how the phoenix reproduces in stressful situations—the new baby bird is a genetic clone, not the same animal
A well cared for phoenix should NOT be regularly bursting into flames
Jackalope
Bunny with antlers <3
Often kept as pets
Wolpertinger
“The most widespread description portrays the Wolpertinger as having the head of a rabbit, the body of a squirrel, the antlers of a deer, and the wings and occasionally the legs of a pheasant.” (thanks Wikipedia)
Often kept as pets, but are much more temperamental than a jackalope.
Will-o-the-Wisp
Little blips of magical essence where intense spells have left remnants
Familiar
Can be any animal or combo of animals
Soul-spirit created through magical willpower that calls the latent magic around you into a fully realized form, bonded to your soul and devoted to helping you
Looks like an animal (standard or magical)
Follows you around like a wisp—you can barely see it out of the corner of your eye, but it lights up and becomes more immediately visible when you’re in need of magical aid
Created by a magic user in an intense emotional state, most often completely by accident. You can attempt to call a familiar on purpose, but it’s not common
Can also be created from two or more people having an intense emotional/magical experience together/when their spells interact. The resulting familiar will be loyal to all parties involved
In the event a familiar has to help more than one bonded individual at once, it can fracture into less powerful mirrors of itself, and snap back together once aid is no longer required
When not in helper mode, the familiar will remain in a quantum state, everywhere and nowhere at once, until one of its soul-bound partners needs its assistance

oh, well to simplify it, there's like four body classes of Draco's
Dragons, wyverns, drakes and wyrms.
Dragons are the most prevalent and well-known members, with them described as having six limbs. Their front two legs, their back two and their set of wings, and often described as having talons, armor plating, razor sharp teeth and other reptile features. Though not all dragons have six limbs, as eastern dragons fly with the support of magic making them due to have four limbs only.
Wyverns, on the other hand, are much alike to dragons but with the lack of frontal legs and which use their wings as support for most activities, if it be standing, running, flying, all the sorts of movements.
Now now, Next up are what you questioned- Drakes. Drakes are described as lacking wings and flight but still counting as dragons, due to many features of the alike said above. Armor plating, Scales, teeth and much more. They either move like canids or move bipedally. More than often, they pack up like canid's Aswell for better chances with prey items as Drakes are more than often roughly the size of an adult timber wolf.
One last class is Wyrms.
Wyrms are as you can assume-Wormlike or snakelike Draco's that have only two limbs: Their pair of wings for nearly everything. Mostly their tail drags behind them because of the lack of back leg support. Though one may not be fooled, because Wyrms are intellectual and strong Draco's, making them difficult opponents.
Hopefully you listened in about my little informative talk of Draco's, was just wondering in case you were actually a Drake instead of a typical Dragon, sorry if i yapped too much but here you go, now you can tell the difference inbetween Dragons, Wyverns, Drakes and Wyrms. :D
OH, WELL THAT'S SUPER INTERESTING, ACTUALLY ! IF I'M TOTALLY HONEST, I'M NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT I AM PART OF, SO I'VE ALWAYS JUST ASSUMED IT'S JUST A DRAGON. A DRAKE WOULD MAKE SENSE, HOWEVER, AS IT ISN'T EXACTLY THE DRAGON PART OF MY THAT ALLOWS ME TO GLIDE WITHOUT A CARE !

I've seen people getting confused about types of dragon-like creatures, so I made an oversimplified chart to help people Identify what "type of dragon" they're talking about.
Tumblr media
Couldn't remember any pop culture wyrms:(
Some honorary mentions, and a correction to drake:
Lóng is a chinese dragon, it is very similar to drake but have some differences, one of them is size, drakes are usually small like mushu from mulan, shenron is a lóng not a drake, I was debating on whether to put drake or lóng in the graph, and somehow managed to write drake, and put a picture of a lóng.
There are three types of hydras, aquatic, lernaean, and terrestrial, with 0, 2, and 4 legs respectively. Lernaean hydra is the one hercules killed.
Dragonnet is basically a small dragon, sometimes you'll see people also calling them drake.
Quetzalcoatl is an amphithere type of dragon, but it is usually feathery, and comes from mesoamerican culture.
Aido whedo is an african dragon, usually depicted similar to wyverns, and comes from vodunism.
Apep is a wyrm-like dragon from egyptian mythology

Blake: Hey Yang? I'd still love you if you were a wyrm!
Yang: ... Thanks?
Blake: ... Wyrm? Like the draconid?
Yang: Is that Like a dragon?
Blake: *sigh* The four Draconids are:
Blake: Dragons; Four legs and wings
Blake: Wyverns; Two legs and wings
Blake: Drakes; No legs and only wings
Blake: and Wyrm; four legs and no wings.
Yang: Huh. That ... Is a clever pun! I wish I had understood it.
Jaune: ... I thought it was funny.
B+Y: Shut Up Jaune.

What is your favorite type of animal to draw?
Honestly?? I love drawing, like, dragons👀 Mostly four legged ones with wings but I also love my eastern dragons, drakes, wyrms, all that! Surprisingly, I’m not a huge fan of drawing wyverns, it’s just so complicated for some reason💀
Along with dragons, I adore drawing horses (and ponies too :3), small cats, big cats, dogs, wild dogs, wilder dogs and, ofc, SNAKES

forgot if I saw this before but in Tergeryz (and like. Pyrrhia and Pantala too ig) there's both mythical creatures (pegasi, wyverns, drakes, wyrms, unicorns, chimeras of several kinds, leviathans, etc) and prehistoric creatures (gorgonopsids, giant bugs, massive snakes and crocodiles, marine reptiles and fish, mega fauna like terror birds, mammoths, dire wolves and such other early fauna etc). Also like made up animals that arent necessarily mythical just like. Slightly different (and bigger) versions of extant irl animals

Quick jot-down of the au! (Kinda)
In Dragon Tale au (23) Moon and (22½) Sun are not related. They are both war-forge sorta things.
Moon has a burning hatred for dragons because the village he was made in was attacked by a very aggressive dragon. Sun, however, is a researcher and loves to study mythical creatures and magic. He especially loves dragons! They may be ferocious killer beasts, but they are rather fascinating! Moon and Sun first met in a small town. Moon was still devastated about losing his home and was drinking at a small bar. Sun had been studying some fire dragons on the outskirts of town. A gaint mountain dragon descended upon the town and started attacking. Moon wasn't gonna let this dragon take the lives of the towns people. At least not without a fight. He battled the dragon valiantly. It didn't look like he was going to win the fight, until he got a helpful tip from Sun, whom had ran into town when he saw the dastardly drake.
Since Sun was such a dragon nerd, he practically knew everything about this mountain dragon, including it's weaknesses. Now knowing how to defend the beast, Moon dispatched it rather quickly. With the town now safe, Moon thanked Sun for the assist. Sun was gonna leave, but Moon asked him if he wanted to team up. And thus the dragon hunting duo was born. With Sun's vast knowledge of drakes, wyverns, and wyrms and Moon's strength, courage, and bravery, the two saved many a village from dread. Word of the dragon slaying robots had reached many ears. Some people even thought that dragons would flee before the duo would arrive to their vicinity.
However, not all dragons were bad. Some just wanted to stay in their caves and not be bothered by pesky humans. Others wished they could stretch their wings for a bit without humans freaking out about it. This was something that Eclipse desperately wanted. He was was barely 26 and he had been cramped in his cave for sooooo long! Eclipse loves to read the books he has in his stash, but those got boring fast. Even the romance novels he so tenderly (and secretly) loves have gotten old. He hasn't seen any other dragons since... his parents disappeared. But he has seen plenty of stupid humans. Too many for his liking. They always come to his cave and try and steal his parents old hoard! Who do they think they are? He hasn't done anything to them! He didn't start this stupid mess. They attacked him first! He was just defending himself. Dumb, idiotic humans. How he longed to have others of his kind. Someone to chat with or cuddle up to on cold nights...
Well, whatever! Maybe someone special will come into his life one day...

A New Vod on the VTurtles! Channel. Titled 'VTurtles! Concert (and kinda verity show)'
--------------------
It starts with a short of the 3 Purple Dragons Models with their drones rushing around trying to finish setting up for the concert.
Wyvern yelling out that the show starts soon. Then yells at Wyrm(Jason) for tripping on a wire, and almost pulling something down. She just stands with her face in her hands.
"Drake (Jeremy), take the hatchlings, and get to the controls. Wyrm, if you weren't my step brother I swear! The show starts in 10. Get this fixed or you have to deep clean the Garage with a toothbrush!"
--------------------
The concert opens with Four Figures on a roof top overlooking New York City. Then music starts playing. Starting with a guitar riff, and "Rise~"
"Rise of the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles~x2
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Heroes in a Half Shell Turtle Power!"
The lights turn on to reveal the Turtles Models in color coded ninja pants with their ninja gear over top, along their weapons on them. They start singing the song alternating lines as it goes on.
"Rising up against evil, paint the city Green,
Red is looking for a fight!
Blue is Making a Scene~
Mandarin's got mad skills!
Dee Rocks Machines!
With each other, they discover their destiny
And Rise! Cowabunga!!"
The song goes on swapping between scenes of the brothers fighting crime, and various villains.
----------------
Leo is doing a Solo Performance dressed in Glam Rock Fashion, singing some Queen.
Though mid song his voice cracked badly, leaving him feeling a bit embarrassed. A mumbled "I'm not a teenager anymore why?!" Could be heard as he tries to remember the lyrics.
----------------
A break in between music where Shelldon and River are teaching the 'Hatchlings' how to adjust their optics and which noises to make for max cuteness potential.
"And with this, you can get almost anyone to do whatever you want!" Shelldon says while River nods sagely.
From of stage there comes a yell of "Stop trying to corrupt your cousins!"
--------------
There's a rap battle and a dance battle going on at the same time. It's very hard to tell who is supposed to be winning.
Up until Raph accidentally sent Donnie flying across the stage with his tail. Then it was called a draw with a cut to the next segment.
--------------
Donnie, Mikey and Leo are singing Zero to Hero from Hercules, just changing some words to relate to Raph, while said Turtle is sitting on a throne with a Wrestling Belt.
Stars Model is sitting on the armrest, dressed in light blue workout gear that showed off many of her star shaped 'spots'. She looks very amused with everything, because Raph is slightly embarrassed by his brothers.
--------------
There's a break from the songs, this time Donnie is playing an AR Whack-a-Mole game. Thought the 'Moles' are foot ninja, and they're wielding a giant purple hammer.
Donnie is laughing and shouting Bonk every time they hit one of the ninja.
The game ends with showing that Donnie got a new high score.
--------------
Splinter has taken the stage singing and dancing to some classic songs. Draxum is shoved on stage to sing a duet with Splinter too both of their embarrassments.
-------------
Every one is on stage for the finale singing 'We Are (Family)'.
As they sing and dance around, there's pictures of them with their friends and family popping up on the wall. Including some pictures from when they were kids. All edited to look like 3D models overlaying the original picture.
I.E. Raph and Star posing together. Leo chatting with Usagi while Spot nuzzling Leo's cheek. April, Cass, CJ, Mikey, and Donnie baking together. Splinter reading a picture book to the turtle tots.
There is surprisingly also a couple pictures with the Purple Dragons with their drones.
-------------
Masterpost
I had some plans for this, but kept running into the 'which songs' dilemma, and kept getting stuck on what they would be singing.

Screaming and crying can be heard for miles as the sky turns red from ash and smoke. People trip and drop their valuables as they flee their homes before they’re burnt to the ground and crumbled into ruins. Just outside the city, the forest and farmlands turn to dust as dragon fire tears through it all.
This isn’t right. They aren’t like this. Some are kind but solitary. Some only leave their caves or abandoned castles for additions to their hoards. Some even work alongside humans, helping them and nurturing little villages, wanting nothing more than success for their little human friends. They got along with humans well enough but now it’s all wrong.
Something is spreading, tearing the minds of dragons apart and leaving them as primal bloodthirsty beasts. It doesn’t matter what branch of the species. Drakes, Wyrms, Amphitheres, Wyverns, no matter the size or age, it ends the same. Once they’re infected it’s only a matter of time. It could be hours, days or even months, you don’t even know, eventually what makes them who they are is torn away and a monster is left in their place. They can’t help but kill whatever or whoever is in their path.
The ground quakes as the city starts to crumble around you, chunks of rubble falling and crashing throughout the streets as you try desperately to get people out. The cobblestone cracks beneath your feet, making the paths ahead uneven and dangerous, one wrong move and you could fall on your face.
“Head towards the river!” You shout, freeing more humans trapped in their homes by the melting stone of the building. Overhead a massive dragon passes, tearing up the tile roofs underneath them with their flaming breath, swiping their claws at any protrusion they missed.
You roll your eyes as you notice a rather portly balding man dragging a large sack, gold and jewels spilling out onto the pavement from the poorly closed opening as he prioritises wealth over his own stupid life. Growling at him, you snatch the bag from his greedy ash covered hands, throwing it into a pile of burning thatch with ease. “Get to the fucking river” you sneer at the greedy man as he tries to gather what you’d thrown from the fire. For a moment you think he’s gonna to fight you, his glaring eyes locking onto you when he realises there’s nothing he can do to retrieve what you threw.
“Fucking bitch” he curses before running off to join the crowds running to the river.
Part of you thinks that humanity deserves this. Nature just taking control and eradicating the pests that tear her apart. If it wasn’t taking the minds of your friends and family, you’d probably even support it.
“Help!” A little voice cries somewhere above you and you step back, your sharp eyes darting around the taller buildings. High up, hanging from the ledge of the bell tower, a little girl cries. Her hands slip bit by bit as the base of the tower starts to crack. “Please help!!” She screams, her little legs flailing to try and find purchase.
Breaking into a sprint, you race toward the tower, your human legs so much slower than your normal method of travel. You leap up the wall, grabbing ledges and dislodged stones to pull yourself up to the little girl barely holding on. The satchel at your side flails wildly as you practically throw yourself up the building, covering the distance within seconds.
Just as her fingers slip, you reach her, wrapping your arm around her waist to stop her decent toward the rupturing ground. “It’s ok, I’ve got you” you whisper as she buries her face in your neck refusing to look at the distance to the street, her arms holding onto you for dear life. “I need you to hold on, ok?” You whisper and she holds on tighter, nodding as her tears stain the shoulder of your shirt. “Shit” you curse at the sight of a Wyvern heading straight for you, her mouth opening as she prepares to burn the tower to the ground.
Without a second thought you release your grip on the stones, plummeting toward the cobble stone below. The little girl screams as scorching hot flames burst above your head tearing through the top of the bell tower and toppling it. though you’re not sure if she’s screaming cause of that or the fact that you’re both falling nearly fifty feet to the street below.
Taking the brunt of the fall, you protect the girl’s head as you roll onto the ground. Forcing yourself up and back on your feet, you stumble through the streets toward the river as the buildings fall around you and the path warps beneath your shoes.
The way ahead is blocked as more debris falls onto the path, so you turn onto the next street, hoping desperately for a way around, only to come face to face with a massive Drake using their claws to tear down a wall to get to a human who’s screaming for the lords help on the other side.
Sniffing in the air, the wingless dragon pauses, and you realise too late that the little girl in your arms is bleeding. Her little palms and shins scraped from trying to keep herself from falling from the building. You hadn’t even noticed it with the smell of blood currently covering so much of the city’s cobblestone.
The Drake snarls as their eyes lock onto you, their massive claws digging into the stone as if it were clay. You prepare yourself to use your magic, to shift back into your true from to defend against the imminent attack, when a horn blares in the distance.
Immediately everything seems to fall silent as the deep ominous tone echoes between the destroyed buildings. The Drake before you races down the street without another thought to you, running in the direction of the horn. the sound of wings overhead slowly fades as they too follow the sound calling to them.
The haunting cries of loss and devastation wail like a bean sídhe. Around you people call for their loved ones, heartrending screams following as they find their loved ones crushed or scorched in the remains of their city.
You’re barely registering any of it though as you stare to the east where the dragons collectively went, following the sound of the horn as if a crew of pirates to siren song. Everything is so wrong.
In your arms the little girl writhes as she tries to free herself from your hold. You snap out of your trance, placing the girl on the ground to watch her run, calling to her mother as she passes through the devastation, flakes of ash catching in her hair as she goes. As soon as you wonder if you should follow, a woman scoops her up, holding onto her for dear life as they cry.
“Oh, my baby. I’m so glad you’re okay” you hear the woman sob out, even from how far you are.
“That woman saved me mama” the little girl says, pointing at you amidst the rubble.
‘Thank you’ the woman mouths out before taking her child to safety, smiling through her tear-stained cheeks trailing through the soot on her skin.
I need to figure out what’s happening. You think as you look back to the east. There was at least half a dozen different dragons tearing the city apart and they just… stopped, following that horn without hesitation. You thought the disease spreading through your brothers and sisters was turning them into mere beasts but clearly there’s something more to this cursed sickness. Something sinister.
To spare the humans more fear you race down the streets and outside the city walls into a scorched vineyard, still smouldering. Heated fruits squish under your boot as you make your way through the destroyed lines of grape vines, and their sweet smells swirl to meet your nose.
You pull off your clothes, stuffing each piece into the satchel as you set it on the ash covered ground. Finally, once the last piece of your clothing is packed away in your bag, you take a deep breath through your mouth.
As you exhale slowly black smoke billows from your nostrils, forming a small whirlwind around your body. The thick dark cloud grows as cyan magic sparks from within it, shifting you from your human form into a massive wyvern with a nearly thirty-foot wingspan.
You stretch your wings out as your tail swings, each movement stirring up the ash that’s settled on the ground.
It’s been a while since you turned yourself into a human, probably the longest you’ve ever been in that form. Because of that your natural body aches as if you’d been sleeping on a pile of stones for a century.
Using the talons on your foot, you delicately grab your satchel, holding it tight as you take off.
You hear the horn sound once more, with more dragons making their way toward it. Keeping your distance you follow them east, wondering how far they’re going and why.
—————
You’ve been flying for nearly a week, far enough behind the other dragons to not be spotted. You have a feeling getting to this point would have taken less time if the dragons ahead of you didn’t leave destruction in their wake.
You stopped at ten different villages and two cities, shifting back into a human to help those in need as their homes burnt around them. Eventually it got to the point that you couldn’t understand the language people were speaking, having to cast a new translation spell just so you could understand them.
You hate seeing the humans dealing with such devastation, and though you’ve been trying so hard to help, you can’t undo what’s happening to them. As much as you’ve learnt from the grimoire you keep in your satchel, you know that even if you could bring back the dead, you shouldn’t. You just hope that you’ll find a cure for the dragons wherever they’re heading, and the humans will understand it isn’t the dragon’s faults. You hope the reputation of your species isn’t tarnished permanently.
You’d lost the hoard of dragons about two hours ago, too busy tying to help the people of the island city in the middle of the river after the hoard had torn up the place with their flames.
You’re glancing left and right, your wings a steady beat as you fly southeast over the river toward a large stone arch. You swear you spotted a familiar wyvern heading this way… The black with green gradient caught your eyes moments after you’d left the city that the people called Fang. You haven’t seen your brother in years, but you’d recognise him anywhere.
You’re not sure how you’d lost sight of him, he was right ahead of you, flying effortlessly toward the stone arch alone. You’d glanced away for only a second, casting your eyes toward the horn sounding out once more, but when you looked back he was gone.
You pause above the river, looking around to catch any sight of his green and black wings around the arch and forest. Your own wings beat powerfully, holding you in place high above the water.
Without warning fangs sink into the shoulder of your right wing, a massive weight crashing into you from above. You try to get him off as his weight sends you plummeting towards the river below. You snap and snarl at him, desperate to get his claws out of your back and his sharp fangs from your shoulder.
Cursing internally, you cast the magic to shift back into a human, slipping from your brother’s violent grasp. You barely get a hold of your satchel before you crash into the water below.

Raya’s POV
The brush in her hand passes gently over the paper, her words filling out the letter to the leader of tail. It’s the final part of her assigned duties of the day before she can finally go meet Sisu and her friends to enjoy her birthday.
Six years have passed since the Druun were defeated, and everyone was freed from their statuesque prisons. Everyone who lives on the dragon shaped river system have come together, finally uniting after years of conflict and mistrust. She knows she was the same, anger and hatred filling her as she searched for Sisu down every river. She had to grow up alone and fast, how could she possibly turn out any other way.
It was hard for everyone, adjusting back into the world with people who’d been stone for years. She cried far too many times with her father, mourning the years they never had together. With all those years lost she worries, even now, that her father will never truly know her. She’s done her best though, to act like everything is fine, like the years alone aren’t a permanent scar on her soul.
As she signs off the letter she grins, hurriedly cleaning her brush of ink and propping it up to dry safely so she can race down and meet her friends at the bridge.
“Raya, have you finished your duties?” Her ba asks when he spots her passing the kitchen doorway, an eyebrow raised in her direction.  He’s been preparing her to be leader of heart, continuing the training he’d started so many years ago. He’s been steadily giving her more duties, allowing her to learn to balance them and her life.
She pauses just the other side of the doorway, stepping backward to peek back at him. “Yes ba. All the letters to leaders from Head to Tail are written and drying.” She starts, walking in to stand by her father while he helps craft lunch. “I’ve listed out possible solutions to farmer’s requests for better access to the river water and made sure the imports and exports are flowing smoothly.”
“You’ve taken to leadership quite well these past years.” Her father smiles, his pride for her practically radiating from him, but also the familiar sadness. “I am proud of the woman you’ve become. Now go, enjoy your birthday, but make sure you’re back for lunch.”
“Yes ba, thank you” she bows to him, showing her father the respect he deserves.
————
Her people greet her and give birthday wishes as she makes her way down through the market to the bridge that connects Heart to the mainland. Conversation and laughter fill the air as men and women trade in the market and little kids stand by their parents, rolling their eyes as their conversation goes for way too long.
She smiles as she spots Namaari and Sisu, excited to see her friends after months of focusing on her duties to Her home and people. The others haven’t arrived yet but she’s sure they aren’t far behind, a couple of them have to be brought by their parents after all.
“Hey!” She smiles, hugging Sisu then Namaari, the dragon almost crushing her in excitement.
“Happy birthday Raya!” Sisu says with a sharp toothed smile, her excitable personality shining through, especially strong on birthdays.
“Happy birthday.” Namaari follows, her smile far more placid.
“The others won’t be here for about another hour, maybe we can….” Sisu starts, pausing at a weird noise echoing through the air.
High above the river, a reptile like creature pauses, it’s giant bat like wings steadily beating as it scans the area for something.
From the tips of its wings a deep purple spreads like lighting into the black of its body. The scales down its stomach are light blue, maybe cyan, standing out against the blacks and purples of the rest of it. Like a bats wings, its giant ones are like skin stretched between long fingers, with massive claws at the joint. Its back legs hang down with its long tail. One of its taloned feet seems to be clenched shut, while the other flexes.
A dark dot appears high above it, steadily growing as it seems to plummet straight for the creature above the river.
In a blink another creature like the first but with green crashes into it, sinking its teeth into the wing of the purple one and digging claws into its back. The purple one snaps and snarls as the two plummet toward the river, its neck not long enough to reach around to bite the other. Raya and her friends watch in mute horror as the beasts fall, not even sure what they are.
A dark cloud of smoke swirls around the creatures and one seems to just vanish within it.
“Shit, shit, shit!” They hear a woman shout, her nude body suddenly falling from the dispersing smoke, desperately clasping at a bag falling with her. Her body crashes into the rushing water below, and Sisu dives into the water after her.
Raya and Namaari race down to the riverbank, helping Sisu as she drags the coughing woman back onto land. Above the other creature watches the events happening below it, then simply flies away as if it means nothing now.
“You shouldn’t… have… done that.” The nude woman coughs as she pulls herself onto her knees, staring at the dragon who saved her. The wounds she should have from the attack shrink into tiny scars as she gasps for breath, trying to rid her lungs of the water she most likely breathed in.
“Would you rather she let you drown?” Raya asks, her cheeks warming as she tries to avoid looking at the naked woman before her.
“No, and I… am grateful, but…” she sighs, hugging her soaked satchel to her chest and looking back at Sisu. “You may have just doomed yourself…”
“What do you mean?” Namaari asks, taking her words as a threat toward Sisu, placing her hand on the sword at her hip.
“You’re a type of dragon, right?” She asks Sisu, ignoring the humans present, and the dragon nods. “So am I. And there is a terrible disease coursing through our species.”
Raya’s concern about the nudity before her vanishes, the warmth on her cheeks fading as fear for her friend and the rest of the dragons takes hold.
“What do you mean?” her eyes locking on the beautiful nude woman before her.
“Look, I don’t really have time to explain things here, I’m on borrowed time as it is.” The woman coughs, pushing herself to her feet. The woman’s legs wobble and Raya reacts, reaching for the woman before she collapses.
“You just breathed in a bunch of water, at least catch your breath.” Raya can see the argument in her eyes as she holds her up way too close.
“fine” the woman sighs, pulling away. Raya’s skin tingles where the woman had touched, so warm and soft despite being soaking wet. Her cheeks heat once more as she realises, she was holding onto a very beautiful, very naked woman. She glances to her friends, hoping they hadn’t noticed but they very much had, both of them smirking at her. or at least she thinks Sisu is smirking… “shit” the woman curses, staring dejectedly into her satchel.
“What?”
“My clothes are soaked.”

[Y/N] POV
Six months ago, the first dragon fell victim to a terrible sickness that now runs rampant through the species. A growing Drake, still in his birth cave with his siblings and mother, started acting different. He became snappy, angry, lashing out at even the littlest things. His mother chalked it up to him being a growing young dragon, that he’d soon leave the nest and find his way in the world and all the attitude would mellow out.
One day he just… snapped. He tore apart two of his sisters and there was nothing his mother could do to stop him; she couldn’t bring herself to hurt him. He began to run rampant, burning down the villages nearby and eating any human or farm animal he found until the humans finally put him down.
Eventually the rest of his family started showing symptoms too, and so did others that came into contact with them and him. It was spreading so fast, and there was no way to know who was infected until it was too late.
In moments of lucidity, as the disease seemed to tear into them, some explained they could hear whispers and screams as their minds started to go. Some shook their heads, and clawed at their skulls, trying to get the disease out as if they could feel it writhing within them.
Three months into the spread of the illness the first of your family begun to show symptoms. The irritation over nothing, jumping at sounds that don’t exist, attacking shadows, and eventually the total loss of their higher thinking.
You’d watched in horror from a distance as one by one, your own family joined the hoard of rampaging beasts that used to be highly intelligent dragons.
You studied the grimoire you were gifted when you were a hatchling until your eyes hurt, trying desperately to find a cure using the magics inside. But what could you do? You were one wyvern, barely considered grown to some despite being twenty-five in human years.
The only other dragon even capable of helping eventually went mad too, succumbing to the sickness and killing the few humans that had offered their aid.
All you could do was follow along, help who you could and search for a cure along the way. You’d done your best to keep your distance, but you know it’s only a matter of time. You’d come in contact with too many that had turned for you not to be infected too.
Every step forward you thought you had taken wound up being two steps back. You searched libraries, consulted with witches and thieves for just a tiny piece to this ever-growing puzzle. Nothing seemed to be enough. And you’re starting to lose hope it ever will be.
———————
You wait in silence for their responses, sitting on the stone windowsill of Raya’s room. She’d handed you some clothes after sneaking you in, and you’d told the horrible story of the past six months as you pulled on the simple brown pants and yellow sleeveless shirt. Not exactly a colour you’d usually wear but you don’t have a choice until your clothes are dry.
“How many other infected dragons are gonna be heading this way?” Raya asks, breaking the fearful silence.
“I was following a group of about fifty, but if all the infected are heading this way, then hundreds could show up.” You sigh, watching as Raya starts pacing the room in front of you. “The ones I was following dispersed after attacking a city northwest of here on the river, Fang I think they called themselves?”
“Wait, Fang was attacked?” Namaari practically shouts, leaping up from where she was sitting. “I need to go home and help my people.” She says, grabbing her satchel and quickly hugging Sisu and Raya.
“Of course, be safe.” Raya smiles. “Find the others and tell them to head back and warn their people too.”
“Sisu, you should warn your family and any others. They need to know to stay away from any dragons coming from the west.” You pipe up before Namaari leaves.
“Of course, yes!” The dragon in human form says, fidgeting as she rises from her cross-legged pose on the bed. “I’ll give you a ride, Namaari.”
You move forward before the dragon has a chance to leave, grabbing her arm to stop her. “Keep your distance when you do…” you tell her sadly “you don’t want to be the reason they get infected…”
She looks like she’s about to cry as she nods, making her way out with Namaari. It makes you sick to think that you could be the reason that she’ll become like the other dragons, that her saving your life could be what seals her fate.
From the half hour you’ve known her you can already tell she’s incredibly trusting and caring, you’d never want to see someone like that be torn away.
“I’m sorry” you tell Raya once it’s just the two of you left in her room.
“for what?”
“I could be the reason your friend loses herself, that you lose her…” you breathe, sitting down heavily onto her bed. “That was my brother that attacked me above the river… part of me was hoping… some of him was still in there. That he’d lead me the right direction and help me save him.” You tell her, running your fingers into your hair, feeling the pull against each strand. “But I was wrong… he’d realised I was following and lured me in to attack me.”
“I don’t blame you.” She says, taking a seat arm’s length from you. “Even if Sisu knew, she probably still would have saved you from the river. She’s like that” She smiles, her dark brown eyes showing great fondness for the dragon. “I’m sorry you had to go through that”.
The moment of emotion disappears quickly from her eyes as the worry for her friends and the other people of the region sobers her emotional thoughts.
“What was your plan?” she questions, shifting to face you better.
“I didn’t really have one… I was just following, and I guess hoping I’d just find the way to help them.” You admit, staring at your bare feet as you flex your toes.
“Well, you said the group you were following dispersed when they reached this river, maybe…”
“Raya, are you in here?” a man called freezing at the sight of a stranger in Raya’s room. “Oh, who’s this?”
“Ba, this is….” Raya starts, pausing awkwardly, realising they hadn’t asked your name when they told you theirs.
“[Y/N]. My name is [Y/N]” you bow, the same way you’ve seen a nobleman bow to a king. They both look at you oddly but say nothing, you assume it’s because woman usually curtsy?
“An honour to meet you.” He bows his head before turning to his daughter. “Raya, I just saw Sisu and Namaari leave, is something wrong? The celebration lunch is almost ready.”
“Celebration?”
“oh, It’s my birthday.” Raya says almost dismissively. “How about we sit down and have lunch while I fill you in. Ok ba?” She practically drags the man, her father, from her room, gesturing for you to follow.
Unsure, you glance out the window. You really should continue trying to find where the hoard of rabid dragons went. You’re not sure if this detour is in your best interest, your time feeling far too limited. Yet you find yourself following Raya nonetheless. It sounded like she might have an idea and it might be better than the nothing you’re working with…
-----
You’re fidgeting, your leg bouncing as you stare out the window carved from the stone. You didn’t have time to explain it the first time but now you’re waiting for Raya to explain it all again to her father. He’d placed a bowl of some kind of soup before you, Raya and himself, then settled down as if there wasn’t a massive war breaking out so close to his home. You’ve barely touched it despite your hunger and the delicious spicy taste. All you can focus on is saving your family, your species.
Your mind goes back to your brother as the two humans talk. He’d attacked you, no hesitation or recognition. You hadn’t seen him since long before everything started happening. He left the cave when he turned twenty, you were only fifteen, still a baby in your mother’s eyes. He visited a few times after, but once you too left the nest you hadn’t seen him again.                                                        To see him like that… it fucking hurt both emotionally and literally.
What are you supposed to do?
“I want to help her” you hear Raya say over your thoughts and your eyes shift to her brown ones that seem to be seeking your approval.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea… it didn’t end well for the last humans that tried to help.” You don’t want a repeat of that, and you definitely don’t want to be the one that causes it. just being here is already a risk.
“You said there was a horn that called the dragons this way, right?” she recounts, making sure she remembers what you had said.
“Yes…” you hesitate, wondering where she’s going with this. It’s been a constant, for a while the dragons attack places then the horn blares and all carnage stops. The raging dragons simply follow the sound as if all else vanishes.
“So, maybe we can find the source of that?”
“I’ve been trying find the source. But I’m not taking you. I’m not risking any more human lives.” You tell her, glancing at her father as you rise from your seat. “Not only am I at risk of getting attacked, but I could also be infected. I don’t want to be the cause of another death.”
“Do you have any of the symptoms?” her father askes and you shake your head no. “how long after symptoms show do they fully succumb to this illness?”
“Anywhere between a few days and a month.” you sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose in an attempt to remember certain details. “My friend theorised that it’s based on age or size… the smaller and younger ones snapped fastest I think.”
“You think?” Raya questions, the air of unimpressed at your uncertainty.
“He wrote it down, but his notes were lost when he died.” You tell her, rolling your eyes as you look out of the window overlooking to river, your palms leaning on the near smooth stone frame.
“How did he die?” you can hear the frown in her voice so you’re pretty sure she guessed the answer already.
“Burnt to death by one of the dragons he was observing. It doesn’t matter.” Dismissing the line of thought as you turn to face her once more. “What does matter is that I don’t remember his notes and I’m not willing to risk someone’s life if I’m wrong.”
“I think you should stay out of it, Raya, we will seek shelter if needed, rebuild even, but we don’t know enough of these western dragons to help.” Her father states, a sense of finality to his words. but instead of backing down, the young woman glares at him.
“Ba, I spent six years alone, I can make my own decisions.” You notice the way the man seems to flinch at her sharp words, though you don’t understand the full meaning behind them, you can clearly see it upset them both. “She could be the only one trying to find a cure at this point, if she succumbs to it then there will be no one, she needs help!” She left her seat as she spoke, grabbing your wrist and pulling you closer to drive her point home.  “we can’t let this happen to the dragons.”
“Raya” her father warns, glaring at her as he too stands, the soups on the table forgotten.
“You told me a leader always does what’s right. I did what was right when the Druun took over and I will do it again now.”
You watch her as she speaks, her determination and passion clear as day. It’s probably her love for Sisu driving her to care so much about this dangerous plague. Maybe her love for her people making her want to stop the carnage before it comes to her door.
“You’re not gonna take no for an answer, are you?” you ask her, her dark brown eyes meeting yours with a smirk on her lips. There’s a fire in her eyes and you swear it rivals that of a dragon’s mighty breath, it makes your heart beat just a little louder at the sight of it. She’s determined and strong willed, clearly no matter what you or her father says she will help.
“no” she says, finally releasing the firm grip she had on your arm. “I’m gonna help, ba. You should make sure our people are ready for if… when the dragons come this way.”
She seems so sure of herself, though you’re not sure if that’s a good thing. You have missed having help… maybe she really can spot something that you can’t… I’m gonna regret this you think to yourself, listening to her ideas as you follow her back to her room.
You just hope you’ll be able to get her out of the way if something bad happens, cause she’s clearly coming with you.
A/N; had this little idea for a while, finally finished the first chapter!! Remember! Like and reblog to share the love!!!
