The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl by Ryan North and Erica Henderson is such an amazing comic. It’s so fucking funny. There’s great queer rep, Doreen is noticeably curvier when compared to Marvel’s other superheroes, and there’s some great action and plenty of heartwarming moments! It’s my comfort comic. There’s also Squirrel Galactus, Loki with a cat head, and Ghost Rider rides a Ghost triceratops.

I hate it when people get so so upset about a superhero who is usually portrayed as straight being portrayed as queer. ESPECIALLY if it’s a character like Batman who’s whole mythology has been queer coded as fuck from the beginning (don’t start with me I will die on this hill).

Cause like a lot of superheros are like passed down writer to writer adaptation to adaptation and like new and fresh takes are really what keeps it alive, especially with like how overtime certain things aren’t socially acceptable anymore so it’s sort of making a modern day hero yk? Like god forbid superhero who has a whole split identity thing and like figuring out who they are as a person and like what to do with their lightning powers love someone of the same sex.

Also especially like if it’s a really good ship. Superbat goes so hard like actually cry about it.

Okay, I'm really not trying to make myself sound like some kind of amazing Cis ally here.

But writing "Nobody Can Help You" (The Superhero story I'm working on and will start posting next year) I've written several trans/non-binary characters and made a conscious choice to not make the shape-shifting character be one of them.... Because it felt like it would have been a cop out.
