So I didn't preorder "Heavenly Tyrant" by @xiranjayzhao because of the delays, I just decided that I'd get it online or in person when it was released.
I genuinely thought it came out at the end of this month, I didn't know it had already been released until I saw it on a shelf today.
My girlfriend managed to swipe it out of my hands before I could pay for it though.....So now it's a Christmas present.

This might be fun
questions I think would be fun to be asked
what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are?
show us a picture of your handwriting?
3 films you could watch for the rest of your life and not get bored of?
what’s an inside joke you have with your family or friends?
what made you start your blog?
what’s the best and worst part of being online/a creator?
what scares you the most and why?
any reacquiring dreams?
tell a story about your childhood
would you say you’re an emotional person?
what do you consider to be romance?
what’s some good advice you want to share?
what are you doing right now?
what’s something you’ve always wanted to do but maybe been to scared to do?
what do you think of when you hear the word “home”?
if you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
name 3 things that make you happy
do you believe in ghosts and/or aliens?
favourite thing about the day?
favourite things about the night?
are you a spiritual person?
say 3 things about someone you love
say 3 things about someone you hate
what’s one thing you’re proud of yourself for?
fave season and why?
fave colour and why?
any nicknames?
do you collect anything?
what do you do when you’re sad?
what’s one thing that never fails to make you happy/happier?
are you messy or organised?
how many tabs do you have open right now?
any hobbies?
any pet peeves?
do you trust easily?
are you an open book or do you have walls up?
share a secret
fave song at the moment?

A thought on Superhero media within Superhero media
I was having world-building thoughts about "Nobody Can Help You" the original Superhero I'm going to start uploading next year and the idea of Superheroes having sponsorships, merch and tie in media in-universe.
It's and idea that Worm and MHA have and one that the Boys leans heavily on, given that it's a parody and we see that with the Seven playing themselves in a movie about themselves. There's a general consensus that Superheroes would be movie-star type famous.
But I don't think it would be quite like that.
I mean they would absolutely be famous, both individually and as an institution and they would have merch the way sports teams do....But I think their presence and depiction within media in-universe would be different. Superhero media is by nature escapist, something it immediately loses in a world where Superheroes actually exist....So I think it's actually reasonable to say that popular escapist media is actually different kinds of fantasy and sci-fi which don't feature Superhumans at all. Where you'd expect to actually see Superheroes in the media in this scenario would actually be in a plethora of Copaganda-type TV shows.
In a world with Superheroes the flash would cameo in Brooklyn 99 and Lex Luthor would be funding an NCIS style show about good, non-powered cops reigning in characters who were clearly aimed at the Justice League.

So I'm working on my own original Superhero story (Which I plan to start posting next year, titled "Nobody Can Help You")
One of the things I've really tried to pay attention to and utilize is the extent to which a characters' super hero/villain name and identity can be used to establish their character.
It's something that honestly I feel like a lot of the genre overlooks a little.
A characters' costumed alter-ego is something they chose for themselves a lot of the time and the name they've chosen should sound like something that character would pick, something that fits their personality and background and in some cases hints at their history and even things like their level of education.
Or in the cases where their super identity was one they didn't choose for themselves the name can just as easily reflect that, is it a clinical sounding project name/serial number? Is it something that was picked out by the media during a press release?
And the best part....Is that absolutely none of this precludes the use of puns.

No problem at all 😁
Longtime reader here....I definitely remember having a Garchomp named "Barbol" after one of your characters on one of my Pokémon games.
Also have to fight the urge to ask "Does it pair well with pussy?" when discussing food sometimes because of that one Orc story.
Gasp!
That’s exactly the Pokémon to be named Barbol! Oh my gosh, I love it as both Barbol’s mom and a massive Pokémon fan.
Also, I completely forgot that line. I can’t believe I used to be clever. Thank you so much! Lol

I’d prefer that Legacy Slipstream be a retool of the Seeker mold rather than Windblade, even if it would make her look a lot like G2 Ramjet.
But if this is what we’re gonna do with female seekers then let’s lean into it and do more than one...Give us a Cyberverse Acidstorm, the one from Earthspark with the Buzzsaw arm.
Hell let’s even make a couple new ones or reimagine a background character, what about Twirl, the Japan exclusive pink stealth-jet Minicon?

Okay, I'm really not trying to make myself sound like some kind of amazing Cis ally here.
But writing "Nobody Can Help You" (The Superhero story I'm working on and will start posting next year) I've written several trans/non-binary characters and made a conscious choice to not make the shape-shifting character be one of them.... Because it felt like it would have been a cop out.

So my job is affecting my usual writing schedule due to the commute at this time of year and I've been busy all weekend, which had me worried about my output and productivity.
And then I remembered:
I have short stories written and ready to post consistently for the rest of the year and then plans for more.
Next year I'm going to start posting my own original Superhero story and I literally already have enough chapters to post weekly until July of 2025.
I think I'm okay?

Okay whatever happens with Winnifred's family in Seek and whatever we think of their concerns/intentions, can we accept that "A heart with nothing to fill it will break under it's own weight" is a bar.

As a white writer...
(A sentence which has probably set off alarms already, but hold on) As a white writer I do not feel comfortable writing racial slurs in my stories, nor do I particularly want them in my writing.
However sometimes the idea needs to be there.
Most of the time this is easy enough to work around. If the source of the racial/any other slurs is coming from a group then you can just describe it as you would any other loud noise, with the individual words being lost in the confusion even though the meaning is clear to the characters' hearing it.
If I'm writing a racist/otherwise bigoted character then I can get the point across again, without using the specific language. Two instances from "Nobody Can Help You" the Superhero story I'm currently working come from the same antagonist who is anti-Superhuman and every other minority a) the instance where he asked a Hispanic Superhero "Do you freaks stick together or did you steal a white heroes' job" and b) the way 'North-Side' is used as a stand in for black, owing to the demographics of the city.
Honestly, the place where the lack of racial language feels most noticeable or strangest to work around is when writing certain black characters simply because when I try and find that characters' voice it becomes clear that they would definitely use the N-word in casual conversation.
I repeat I have not and will not be using the word but, for example when writing my character Darius, whenever he calls someone a Bitch in an argument the -N word that follows it is basically implied at that point.
Any other writers had feelings like this?

Okay so we're still not certain how the three storylines in Seek are gonna connect
But
The attack on the Science Center felt very targeted....Nanotech weapons that did that in a place housing aliens that reproduce like that. I've got the sneaking suspicion that this connects to the hostile "Animal" AIs in Orion's story.
Also I'm more certain than ever that Orion is the onboard and not the human.
