OP Vinsmoke Sanji x Reader - Winter Proposal

Summary: While walking through a snowy farmer's market, Sanji asks you an important question.

Warning: pure fluff, very short/rushed

You smiled to yourself, inhaling the aroma coming off of the disposable cup of hot chocolate in your hands. The foam dish warmed your fingertips as you took a sip, waiting for Sanji to finish up at a fish stand. Just then, he glanced back up to see you waiting, and cut his interaction with the fisherman short, before tucking what he'd ought into a wicker basket.

"Sorry, I just had to," he said sheepishly. "I haven't seen this kinda stuff since I left the East Blue. It was one our signature dishes on the Baratie, you're gonna love it-" You could hardly keep track of him when he got like this, rambling on about food and ingredients and the different was they can be used.

"I'm sure I will," you giggled. "I love anything you make."

Sanji suddenly fell nearly silent as his stare fell downcast. "I know you do..." he muttered under his breath. The truth was, you weren't a very picky eater, he could serve you rotten salad with wilted lettuce and you'd eat it. You were never wasteful or gluttonous like other people he knew. If he ever made something experimental that nobody liked, he could always count on you to give him a five star rating.

"What's the matter?" you asked, tilting your head and stepping in front of him, forcing your face into his line of sight.

"Oh, nothing." he dismissed with a melancholic smile.

"Come on, Sanji," you pressed. "Obviously something's bothering you! You're all quiet now."

"I guess I just have something on my mind is all..." he trailed, brushing passed you to continue on the path again.

"Well, out with it!" you pouted, pulling on his sleeve, making him stop again.

"It's not the right time." he insisted, pulling you along.

"The right time for what?" you whined, beginning to become impatient with him.

"You're not going to let it go, are you?" he finally asked, giving you a glimmer of hope. You shook your head persistently, prompting him to sigh and dig into his pocket. "Just remember, if this isn't perfect, you forced it out of me." he teased, sinking to his left knee. Gazing up at you with that sweet, charming smile of his, he offered you a ring. It was a simple silver band, speckled with tiny diamonds and a teardrop-shaped sapphire as the centerpiece.

Tears immediately began rolling down your cheeks as you slapped your palm to your lips in disbelief. "S-Sanji..."

"You've always been my biggest fan, (Y/N). My taste tester when I'm unsure, my sous chef when I need help, and when nobody else likes my food, I know you do. You're my biggest support and I want you by my side forever."

"S-Sanji..." you sniffled, cheeks blushed and snowflakes catching on your hair. "I don't know what to say..."

"Say yes..." he beamed, tears pricking his eyes as he grabbed your left hand and slid the ring onto your finger. "Please bel amour?"

Finally catching up with the world around you, you quickly nodded your head, sobbing as you fell to your knees with him. "Yes, a million times, yes!" you cried into his chest. "I'd love to!"

"Thank you mon tresor," Sanji sighed, pulling you closer, not caring about the market goers passing you by. "C'mon, let's finish the shopping and get back tot he ship. I'm gonna make you somehting extra special."

Christmas Punch

Some point to the ancient Hindustani word "paanstch", which means five: a great drink prepared from five key elements - sweet, sour, alcohol (arrak), water and spices. Some, however, attribute it to English merchant sailors who, though they did not invent the punch, very much drank it. Men working on British East India Company ships used it as a beer alternative in the 17th century. The sailors were known to consume large quantities of beer on their voyages, but when the ships reached the warmer waters of the Indian Ocean, the beer in the cargo bays became rancid and stale. Once the ships reached the coast, the sailors created new drinks from ingredients native to their destination: Arrack, citrus fruits and spices. Back at sea or at home, rum or brandy or other wines were more likely to be used.

The sailors brought punch back with them to Britain. With its exotic flavours and expensive ingredients, it became a fixture in the elite homes of 17th-century England and then a staple. Some parties, however, tended to get out of hand. Like the celebration of Edward Russel, captain-general and commander in chief in the Mediterranean. On 25 October 1694 he had a garden party for 6000 guests in his villa, and had his marble fountain filled with punch. For this, 4 hogsheads (c. 960l) of brandy, 8 hogsheads of water, 25000 lemons 75l of lime juice. 560kg of sugar, 3kg of nutmeg, 300 toasted biscuits and a pipe of dry mountain Malaga. The punch was served by a ship's boy who rowed through the fountain in a small boat.

Punch entered the middle class as ingredients became more affordable during the 18th century. Punch was ubiquitous in the British Atlantic world and spread to the American colonies. So why is it considered more of a Christmas drink. It was because many of the merchants stayed at home during the winter months and made punch for the family on Christmas Day with the spices they had bought for themselves locally. This made it something special and is therefore often associated with the Christmas season, even though it was served all year round, especially when the spices became affordable for many.

Bombay Presidency Punch in Bombay Government, August 13, 1694

Servings: 2 Prep Time: 5 minutes

2 Tbsp sugar 2 Tbsp  lime or lemon juice 1/2 cup rum 3/4 cups water nutmeg

In a non-reactive bowl or pitcher, mix together the sugar and the juice and stir until dissolved.  (Please use a glass, pottery, or stainless steel bowl or pitcher. Copper, cast iron, and aluminum will react with the acid in the lemon juice.)

Remove any seeds that may have made their way into the bowl.  Blend in the rum, and then the water.

Add ice.  Then grate nutmeg over the top.

cactus jack’s cake

This is a recipe I invented shortly after I began baking and cooking, back around Christmas time: my mom and I were watching one of those baking competition shows, and no exaggeration, every single one of the competitors employed the raspberry-pistachio fusion with their tiered cakes. Flabbergasted, we started naming off different variations of cakes for Christmas and the holiday season, and this was one that stuck out to me. Passionfruit cake is a bit more yellow than green, but prickly pear is a nice bright pink: the apple variation will give a nice golden color, as will blood orange.

Also called my “high desert” cake for the heavy Southwestern influences, I named this one after Cactus Jack’s in Carson City, where my family lived when I was a kid: I remember seeing the big neon sign of the cowboy through my sleeping eyes after a long road trip back from my grandparents’ house, and I knew we were home. I hope to make this one day!

(passionfruit sponge)

4 passionfruits (can also be substituted with blood orange or apple) 2 eggs 115 grams of butter, cubed and softened 115 grams of sugar  Zest of a lemon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract  1 1/2 cups of self-raising flour  Pinch of salt 

(prickly pear sponge)

1/2 cup prickly pear juice  2 eggs  115 grams of butter, softened  115 grams of sugar  Zest of a lime 2 teaspoons of lime juice  1 1/2 cups of self-rising flour  Pinch of salt 

(citrus vanilla frosting)

3 cups of powdered sugar, sifted 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract  1-2 tablespoons of milk 1/3 cup of butter  Zest of lemon and lime, plus extra for dusting over the top 

(passionfruit curd)

3 passionfruits 4 egg yolks 2/3 cup of granulated sugar  1/8 teaspoon salt 6 tablespoons of butter, softened and cubed

(cactus decorations)

1 cup of dark chocolate chips  1 cup of white chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350°. Grease two 8” pans with shortening and then line with parchment.

For the passionfruit sponge:

Halve the passionfruits and scoop out the seeds and pulp. Press the pulp through a sieve, then set to the side. (If using blood orange, halve and juice. If using apples, halve, scoop out the seeds and press through the sieve)

Beat butter and sugar together with the electric mixer at medium speed for 4 minutes until smooth and fluffy. Add in eggs, one after the other, then the salt and vanilla extract followed by the flour, little by little, until well incorporated—should take a few minutes. Turn mixer down to low and add in zest and passionfruit, and continue to mix for 1 minute.

For the prickly pear sponge:

Concentrate the prickly pear by boiling the juice for about five minutes.

Beat butter and sugar together with the electric mixer at medium speed for 4 minutes until smooth and fluffy. Add in eggs, one after the other, then the salt followed by the flour, little by little, until well incorporated—should take a few minutes. Turn mixer down to low and add in zest and juices, and continue to mix for 1 minute.

Pour batters into either pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes: the prickly pear sponge is a bit heavier, and should take 30 minutes; or until a skewer comes out clean. Let both cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes, and then turn both over so they can cool all the way on the rack—be careful because the pans might still be hot!

For the curd:

Halve and scoop out the pulp of the passionfruit, and press through a sieve.

Whisk yolks, sugar, passionfruit pulp, and salt in top pot of bain-marie/double boiler for 10 minutes or until thick—I usually use a metal bowl atop a saucepan of boiling water (be careful not to let the water boil over!)

Remove from heat and whisk in butter—the butter will melt from the heat of the bowl.

Pour curd in bowl and cover directly with plastic wrap until cool (the plastic has to be right on the curd to keep a skin from forming).

For the frosting:

Mix butter with the electric mixer on medium until smooth. Bump mixer down to low and gradually add in sugar (be careful as powdered/confectioner’s sugar, like flour, has a tendency to get on everything) until mixture is creamy. Stop mixer for a second to add in milk, vanilla, and zests, and then beat for another 1-1 1/2 minutes.

For the cactus decorations:

Trace five cactus designs on one side of a piece of paper and turn it upside down so it shows through—make sure one is a little bigger than the other four as that one will be the topper.

Melt chocolate chips in the bain-marie and spoon into ziplock bags. Snip off the corner of the bag about an eighth of an inch and squeeze the chocolate onto the designs. Let them sit until they’re hard and then very carefully peel off.

To assemble:

Either of the cakes can be on the bottom tier: place one cake on a lazy Susan and spread a dollop of the curd on the top with an offset spatula to have a thin but even layer. Place next layer on top of that and spread another even layer of curd on the top. Let the curd sit for a few minutes before applying the frosting with a separate spatula: even out the frosting on top and on the sides with the offset spatula.

Sprinkle the top and sides of the cake with the lemon and lime zests. Carefully apply the large cactus atop the top tier and the other four around the circumference of the cake. 

***if you’d like: keep the tiers flat on the lazy Susan and use a bread knife to slice them in half for four tiers.

7. Who do you feel most like yourself around? My best friends

8. What’s a fabric/texture that’s nostalgic for you? My stuffed animals from my childhood

9. Best childhood moment? The summers where I would either go to camp in the mountains and/or to a theatre summer camp!

20. Tell us about a memory you hold close to your heart. There’s so many, but I went to a Doobie Brothers concert this summer and it was one of the most magical experiences of my life. That is a memory I will always cherish <3

Day 11-

BES Mizu x Reader - Winter Proposal

Summary: Mizu has to ask you something before leaving for London.

Warnings: Angst, fluff, sad, rushed/short, spoilers, takes place days after the last episode, grammar

Yesterday's events still played fresh in your mind. The sounds of gunfire, screaming, and metal clanging rang in your ears like a broken record. You'd sustained some injuries, thankfully not from any man-made weapon. You'd been trapped in a collapsing building and pinned under a burning beam. Luckily, Ringo found you and dragged you to safety, before hauling you back to where Master Eiji lived.

The night was spent with Ringo tending to your wounds and delivering news of Mizu's death to her father, who pretended not to be phased. You were unprofessionally diagnosed with a shattered ankle and varying degrees of burning on your legs and waist. Nothing fatal, thank God.

In your short time with Ringo and Eiji, you'd taken to being placed out in the nearby forest. Close enough to yell for help, but far enough to get away from the noise and heat of the forge. Of course, you still had to contribute in some way, so every morning, Ringo would set you outside with a task, usually washing clothes or dishes in a rudimentary tub, and let you watch the woods for anyone looking for trouble. In the evenings, he'd come back and hang the clothes on the line if needed, as you were in no shape to walk.

On the third day, you sat in your chair on the edge of the forest, humming and mending clothes when you finally did spot trouble. A slender figure came hobbling through the woods, peaking out from behind trees when it heard a twig snap. You eyed the shadow cautiously, ready to scream out for the men to protect you at a moment's notice.

"Leave us be, stranger," you warned, brandishing a kitchen knife you kept to cut stray scraps of fabric for patches. "I may be vulnerable, but I'm deadly with a blade even still."

"I know you are," a tired, hoarse voice croaked. "I taught you that."

Your heart skipped a beat at the possibility before you shook the hope away. "You haven't taught me anything, stranger," you rebuked. "The one who trained me is dead."

Just then, the knife plummetted to the snow, let go of by your trembling hands. The stranger finally had inched close enough for their face to be unobscured by the light shining through the trees. Glacier eyes peered down at you from under shaggy chocolate fringe as she leaned against the nearest tree, waiting for you to react.

Without another thought, you left out of your chair, forgetting entirely about the searing pain in your brutalized body, but crumbled at her feet, clinging to her pants.

"My darling," she gasped softly, falling to her knees with you to hold you in her arms. "You're hurt, I'm so sorry, I didn't even know-"

"Where were you?!" you sobbed into her shoulder, making her fall silent. "I thought you were dead- we all thought you were dead!"

"I am," she corrected, bringing your hands from her shoulders to cradle them in hers. "For now, at least. You can't tell anyone I came to you."

"I-I don't understand..." you sniffled, (e/c) gems boring into her very soul. "You only came to see me?"

Her face softened and she smiled. "Yes, my love, I did. I couldn't leave without telling you where I was going."

"You..." you froze in her grasp. "You're leaving again? B-But-"

"But nothing," she corrected, sternly but with love. "I'm going to London to continue my mission." she confessed.

"London..." you repeated. "W-What's that? Where is that? Why can't we go with you?" Your head was spinning, you were so hurt and overjoyed and confused all at the same time.

"It's very far away, in another country. But I promise I'll be back." Mizu swore, pressing a kiss to your forehead with her palms on either temple. "I'm gonna finish my mission and I'll be back before you know it, and we're gonna live a normal life."

"We can't, you know that!" you argued but melted at her soothing touch. "Women can't be wed with one another, women can't buy property, women can't have kids together..." you trailed. "Besides, I know you'll never be done with this endless path of vengence..."

"I hate when you say things like that, my love," Mizu cooed. "Lips as lovely as yours have no place uttering words so violent. You leave all that talk to me." A moment of silence passed between the two of you before she mushed you away enough to hold you at arm's length. "I promise you that I'll be back, and when I am, I'm going to marry you, (Y/N)."

"But how..." you sighed, immense sadness for the death of a dream making your chest hurt.

"I'm a man in the eyes of the law." she smirked. "I can travel unaccompanied, own land and property, and marry who I damn well choose. And...I choose to marry you. If you'll have me?"

You'd never seen Mizu so enthusiastically sure of anything, short of destroying her bloodline. It made you feel incredibly special, the amount of passion she seemed to carry for this. "I'll have you, but I have a few conditions."

"Which are?" she cocked a brow.

You reached up and cupped her cheeks with both hands. "Come back to me in one piece, promise me you will."

Mizu smiled, studying your face lovingly. "I promise I will."

"And I want a farm near Osaka so I can see my family, and I want children to chase around the yard." you dreamed.

"A farm in Osaka, got it," she snickered. "Though knocking you up may be a different story."

"We'll adopt some!" you chirped.

"I think I can do that," Mizu sighed happily, nuzzling into your throat. "I promise a thousand times, my love."

Almost as quickly as she appeared, she was leaving again, begrudgingly tearing herself away from you. "Promise to write me," you sniffled, getting ready to cry again as she helped you back into your chair.

"I will, but it'll be under an alias." she agreed, brushing the hair out of your face and gathering your things to put within your reach. "But you gotta promise me something too."

"Anything."

"Darling, wait for me."

Random-Mailbox's Favorite Sailor Moon Fics - Week 36 - Sex Pollen

Sex Pollen as a trope is also not as big in this fandom as one would imagine. @lilliebellfanfics has suggested I try to put something together because "it’s spring and pollen season", which seems like an amazing idea until I realized how many of the Sex Pollen trope stories went into the Potions post around Halloween. Thankfully, I have more for you to explore!

In this two-shot, Usagi and Mamoru are working through co-existing within their civilian and superhero lives, while trying to stop people from getting hurt. I loved that this take causes changes in the timeline and forces Black Moon clan and Chibiusa to become anomalies.

This is another addition to the "4 authors 1 prompt series" with a focus on Dead Moon Circus arc. In a non-traditional take, meddling from Amazones Quartet causes everyone to argue instead of being unable to keep their hands off each other.

With Tokyo experiencing a crazy heatwave, Usagi cannot seem to be able to cool down. Mamoru is the only person who can bring down her fever, even if it might not be in the most conventional way. This is the first chapter of a collection of unrelated lemons if you want to keep exploring.

One story that became part of the Reveals series but might make more sense here is Impulse by @areptiledysfunction1107 , where mysterious fog from a youma is to blame for Tuxedo Mask's inability to see straight when it comes to a certain blonde.

You’re laying stomach down on her bed, surrounded by her scent. Slices of her pizza shoved into your mouth- she said you could.

She’s off in the bathroom doing…something you’re not quite sure of but the door is open and you’re talking to her. Life is good right now.

You pick off the mushrooms, shovelling another slice into your mouth.

“…if he wasn’t such an ass I wouldn’t have gotten angry,” you say with your mouth full.

You’re talking about the sheriff who has been nothing but difficult during this entire case and who is one step away from kicking you off said case.

“You need to stop letting people wind you up,” says Scully. She emerges from the bathroom post shower, hair curling at the ends as it dries and skin smelling of lemons from the shower gel.

You liked many Scullies but Post Shower Scully was up there as one of your favourites; freckles on full display, skin soft and warm from the water.

Her appearance catches your attention. You frown at a familiar looking piece of grey fabric.

“It’s not my fault these people are dicks,” you grumble. “Is that my shirt?”

Scully stops dead in the middle of the room, a deer caught in headlights.

“It was in my suitcase,” she offers as explanation.

You grin, moving to sit upright. “It just happened to be in your suitcase, huh?” You weren’t buying it.

“Yes,” Scully answers. She offers up her own frown then. “Why are you eating all my pizza?”

“You said I could!”

“One slice, not the whole thing.”

You look down at the pizza and realise that you’ve eaten almost more than half.

Picking up the rest of the slice you shrug.

“Didn’t want it to go cold.”

Scully joins you on the bed, picking up your discarded mushrooms and dropping them onto the other remaining slices.

“Stop stealing my pizza,” she says, slapping your hand away as you reach for another.

“Stop stealing my shirts.”

You know she won’t, just as you won’t stop stealing her pizza, even if she does order mushrooms on it.

“Sharing is caring,” she says.

“I know.”
