A/N: Hello readers! I kinda made up this hc topic because I was dying to write but I didn't know what I should write about. So I hope you enjoy!

ATSUSHI:

Atsushi gets flustered easily at praise, always blushing with embarrassment and hiding his face

You find it cute how easy it is to make his face flush with red

Usually you praise him after he does a good job at work, on missions or even with paperwork

You especially love it when he beams as bright as the sun, saying thank you with such excitement that your heart melts

It feels like your job to protect Atsushi's innocence, even though he had been through so much, you wanted to make him smile as much as you could

Whenever you praise him, you also ruffle his choppy hair, just to see his cute pout as he whined about his messed up hair

Atsushi just makes you smile no matter what, he is a cinnamon roll 🩷

RANPO:

Whenever Ranpo recieves praise, he always takes the chance to boast about how he is the best detective in the world

When you praise him, you also offer him some candy, and Ranpo still can't figure out how you have candy on you 24/7

Usually, you praise him on doing well on cases, especially ones where Ranpo doesn't whine about how stupid the other people are

Ranpo also likes to make a competition out of it, especially with Yosano, on who got more praises from you

Your praise also cheers him up and makes him feel better about himself anytime he feels that he's not at his best or if there is a stressful crisis

You love to praise Ranpo just to see his face light up even more as he jumps up to tell everyone that he was praised by you

KYOUKA:

Kyouka was devoid of affection for most of her childhood, so her showing emotion is pretty rare

But whenever you praise her, you can see her face flush and she'll give you those wide puppy eyes that make your heart melt

You usually praise her for missions done well, but you also praise her for actually taking time to socialize even though she's very shy and has trust issues

You also like to pat her head when you praise her, making her flush even more and whisper to you to stop patting her head because she's so embarrased

After she gets over her embarrasment though, she gives you the sweetest smile and whispers out a thank you

You think Kyouka deserves all the love and care she can get from everyone she considers close to her

Idk how this gurl is so CUTE

KENJI:

Now Kenji is just a ball of sunshine really (I am ignoring that part in the manga if you manga readers know what I mean)

You love praising him just to see his face light up and how his energy bursts through the roof

It seems magical whenever Kenji is happy, and to make him as happy as he can be, you praise him on anything, whether it might be completing a mission or just giving you coffee just the way you like it

Sometime the other (aka Ranpo/Atsushi/Dazai) get jealous of how much you praise him

Just like Atsushi, you love to ruffle his hair and tell him how well he did on his mission or assignment

Kenji just laughs sweetly whenever you mess up his hair, making you let you a soft aww at how cute he is

I feel like Kenji is underrated, I love this kid sm ♥

In response to your post about bsd trios may i present Atsushi Akutagawa and Kyouka. Kyoukas the one who keeps them on track and stares into the camera like "can you believe this shit" but will occasionally go along with some antics for fun.

Oh yeah. Atsushi Akutagawa and Kyouka are my og trio. My boy boy girl shonen teamup. Honestly I'm pretty sad that Kyouka stopped being added to the mix after Dead Apple. Their dynamic means so much to me.

Also I see your "Kyouka looking into the camera like Jim from The Office" and raise you the scene in Dead Apple where Atsushi says they won't kill anyone and Akutagawa looks at Kyouka like "This your boy?"

People thinking Atsushi is just a cute lil soft boy are so WRONG.

Atsushi is one of the best executed C-PTSD protagonists who are not just "kind" because they are the MC.

Atsushi is sassy, he is mean and says things like they are, even to his own mentor Dazai, he is not afraid of saying bad things. He doesn't hold back on his words. And he can be quite quick when it comes to using sass ("are you a landmower?" "Why are you dressed like a half-finished mummy, Dazai-san" "Akutagawa, fancy a cup of tea?" "That's why Dazai-san left you")

He's not just nice. He thinks he should be nice and kind because that's what someone like him should be like. Atsushi has such a low self esteem that he NEEDS to show kindness to everyone because he thinks just like he got a second chance at life, everyone else deserves it too.

That's why he saved Kyouka and Lucy, he recognised that want for bettering themselves in them. He wanted them to get a second chance like he did. Because to him, people are not good or bad, but they have the ability to change no matter how far they have gone.

This is why Atsushi is the only one who can recognise and understand Dazai's true personality. Whenever Dazai says something self depreciating Atsushi ALWAYS corrects him. In Dead Apple when Dazai is visiting Oda's grave, Atsushi understands whoever this person was, they were very dear to Dazai. At the end of Dead Apple when Dazai says he thinks he's not a good person, Atsushi tells him he has never thought of Dazai not being a good person. Atsushi knows Dazai was in the Port Mafia, but he STILL confirms he sees Dazai as a good person regardless of his past. Because Atsushi believes in second chances, and HE gave the second chance to Dazai that Oda must have wanted Dazai to get, even if the ADA accepted Dazai, no one has ever reassured him being a good person before. (Also in BSD wan, when Dazai says "I want to go out beautifully" during the fireworks scene, in the end-credits Atsushi sits near the river the entire day because he was sad that Dazai was suicidal. And in BSD mayoi, Dazai makes a snowman of Atsushi along with Oda, Ango and Chuuya, showing how much he adored Atsushi)

It's the same with Akutagawa; Atsushi doesn't understand why Akutagawa hates him and he's mean to Akutagawa at times but it never crossed a line. Akutagawa had done so many bad things to Atsushi but at the end they still worked together. Because Dazai understood the only person who will make Akutagawa use his powers to "protect" instead of "attack" is Atsushi. During the ending fight in S3, Akutagawa makes an armour for Atsushi as they combine their powers. And in the end credit scene of S5, we see Akutagawa protecting Atsushi AGAIN. This time Akutagawa isn't wearing the same coat Dazai gave him and for the first time shows true loyalty to Atsushi. ("Just the two of us?" "Do we need more?" *SCREAMS*)

Atsushi's relationship with the headmaster of the orphanage shows how much the trauma affected him as a child. When he can't forgive the headmaster at his death, he hates himself for not being able to give a second chance. And that's when Dazai steps in and tells him, "we cry when our father dies" something Atsushi really needs to hear and he finally cries.

Atsushi reassures Dazai all the time and Dazai snaps Atsushi out of his self depreciation all the time. Their solidarity throughout the story, shows why that day when Dazai chose Atsushi for the ADA; he recognised not Atsushi's powerful ability but his true ability in choosing to believe in people when no one can.

Proof that bsd would be a lot better if they just let it pass the Bechdel test more often

dazai needing a cane post-meursault and he clearly hates using it so to make it more ~fun~ kenji buys several different packs of stickers for dazai to decorate his cane with. and dazai pulls out a fake smile and thanks him and proceeds to shove the sticker packs in his desk drawer and forget about them entirely. until kyouka approaches him a few weeks later and quietly tells him that kenji is worried he didn't like the stickers. and dazai, lying through his teeth says "oh, no, i really did like them! i just haven't decided which ones i want to use yet, they were all so good!" and he watches kyouka report this back to kenji and kenji looks so relieved that dazai figures. what the hell. and he digs out the stickers and pulls off the first one he sees and sticks it on his cane, then lifts it up so kenji can see. and kenji just starts beaming

for several more weeks, that sticker is the only one on the cane. and dazai keeps looking at it. and he'll rub his thumb over it. and it does kinda make having to use the cane more fun, because he's got a little cartoon cow with him wherever he goes too, and he can hear kenji's voice in his mind whenever he sees it saying something supportive that he fully believes with his entire heart to be true. and dazai runs his fingers over the cow so much that the colors start to fade and it starts to peel. so he takes all the stickers home, scrubs off the first one, and he spends hours painstakingly mapping out where to put different stickers and decorating the cane.

and it helps! because kenji didn't just get farm animal stickers - there are sticker sheets reminiscent of all the ada members. tigers for atsushi, bunnies for kyouka, cats for fukuzawa, snowflakes for jun'ichirou, candies and desserts for ranpo, a school-themed sticker sheet with notebooks and pens for kunikida, and one with various weapons for yosano. he still thinks the cane is stupid, and the stickers are stupid too, but they make him smile and it's easier to use the cane when he can at least get some entertainment out of looking at it. and maybe he buys slug stickers himself to add to the collection, and lucy gives him a sticker with the cafe's logo, and ranpo gives him a raccoon sticker and naomi and haruno find a cute flower-themed sticker sheet and suddenly the cane doesn't feel so much like a burden or a hinderance or a weakness. suddenly it's just another new part of himself he's found while with the agency, and it's a tangible reminder that he has more friends than he ever thought possible - people he trusts, people he cares about and who care about him in return. he has something like a family now, and they want the best for him, even when he doesn't want the best for himself

Coincidental Matchup

Dazai

Despite everything Dazai’s been through, he can be a very a silly guy and will take full advantage of any opportunity to enjoy that

So when the ADA is promised to attend a huge Halloween bash in Yokohama and Kunikida is on everyone’s case about dressing up and behaving professionally, Dazai takes it to heart

On the night of the party, everyone is in costume

Ranpo is dressed as Sherlock Holmes, a little uninspired, but acceptable

Atsushi and Kyouka dressed as toned down slashers from a cheesy horror film they enjoyed

Even Yosano had agreed to come, dressed as a corpse bride

Dazai decided to indulge in one of his favorite movies, Howl’s Moving Castle

Dressed as the titular wizard, he mingled and played it up to the fullest

It wasn’t long before he started getting comments about ‘his partner’ having created an equally impressive costume and people thinking it was so cute that they’d dressed up together

Naturally, he slipped away to get a better view of the party and figure out what people were talking about

That’s when he spotted you, a meticulously managed white-gray wig on your head, lingering by the buffet

He took full advantage of the opportunity and sidled up to you with a fittingly flattering compliment on your costume

You responded with a kind smile and an understanding look when you took in his costume

For the sake of ease (or so he says) Dazai suggests sticking together, especially once you mention your colleagues have all disappeared into the unfamiliar crowd

You agree to do so, enjoying yourself far more than you expected now that you had someone to talk to

And Dazai is more than happy to listen, watching with focused eyes as you chat about your job, your costume, and anything else that comes to mind

As a joke, you both just pretend to be together whenever someone compliments either of you for the remainder of the night

You have to admit, you’re a little surprised when you try a cafe on a whim a few weeks later to see him sprawled out dramatically in a booth while a young man with an unfortunate haircut listens to him moan about his big missed opportunity

Without saying a word to alert him, you pass by and smile at the waitress there, ignoring the exaggerated gasp he lets out when his eyes land on you again

Maybe he’d make a good costume partner next year too

Chuuya

For Chuuya, I don’t really see him dropping the mafioso business for a costume party unless his partner asked him too, so we’ll go with an au

Chuuya is a sophomore in college, and his roommates decide to throw a Halloween party that he can’t really get out of

Rather than pouting about it, he decides to just go with the flow and come up with a simple costume that won’t draw much attention

He digs a black t-shirt out of his closet that has flecks of bleach on it, which conveniently makes it look sort of like ground pepper

Paired with some black jeans and a little slip of paper labeled ‘pepper’ safety pinned to his front, he has a low effort costume that will keep his roommates off his back

The party is a little more popular than Chuuya expected for how little he sees his roommates bring friends over

He primarily keeps to himself, listening to the music, staying close to the walls, and manning the front door when handfuls of trick-or-treaters come by

Right as he goes to close the door after a pack of teenage princesses leave, a voice calls for him to wait

You come strolling up the front steps with a friend of yours just behind you, each of you carrying two six-packs of drinks

Chuuya holds the door open and ducks back to make for your full arms, nodding as you offer a quick thanks

He doesn’t really take notice of your outfit, since he has no reason to do so, but it doesn’t escape him that it’s pretty simple

All he sees as you and your friend walk by is a flash of white

You meet with one of his roommates in the kitchen, setting down the drinks and trying not to watch him greet your friend with an enthusiastic kiss

Once he steps back to say hello to you, he takes in your costume and gets this stupid grin on his face you’ve learned to dread

All he’ll say is that you have a missing piece out in the party, and encourages you to find it

You try to brush the comment off and wave to your friend who has already drifted into a conversation with someone else

The only reason you’d agreed to come was because your friend insisted they wanted to introduce you to their boyfriend’s roommates

Of the other five young men who lived in the rented house, three were in college, same as you

Two of them were single and your friend never let you forget that you were too, but could easily change that

So you conceded to their begging and slapped a name tag labeled ‘salt’ onto your white shirt and let them drag you off to the party

Now that you were here, you wished you could have turned them down

The music was too loud, and everyone was too close

So you shuffled along the edges of the main room and darted over to sit halfway up the staircase leading to the second floor

You had about two minutes of peace before a heavily inebriated guy stumbled up past you headed for the bathroom and made a comment about having seen ‘your boyfriend’ by the front door earlier

You didn’t have a clue what he was talking about, but you received similar remarks for another half an hour while Chuuya heard the same

He was the first to break and went looking for his supposed ‘partner’

You were still on the stairs when he found you, scrolling on your phone and tapping your feet to the beat from the living room

“Hey there, Salt.”

Your eyes flickered up to meet his, drifted down to his shirt, then back up.

“Ah. Pepper. Now I get it.”

��You’ve been getting comments all night too, huh?”

“Yep. I was starting to think there really was a boyfriend I didn’t know about.”

Chuuya chuckled and came up to sit a few steps below you, both of you curling in on yourselves to take up less room.

“My name’s Chuuya, by the way.”

“Y/N.”

It didn’t take long for Chuuya to realize it was too loud in the house for both of you, so he lead the way back out to the porch, where you spent the remainder of the night handing out or eating from the bowl of candy and chatting

Your friend finally came to check on you when they realized you hadn’t responded to a check in text, and found you fast asleep on the porch, side by side with Chuuya in matching camp chairs

he’s genuinely a good caretaker but smth always happens idk

nothing bad or like dangerous but like clumsy and or inconvenient little mishaps yk?

but the thing is, it’s never his fault

It’s like in those cliche movies where there’s like a character that just has really bad luck

once he was feeding u and the nipple of the bottle just popped off somehow

so like the responsible young adult he is, he cleans up the mess and goes to change you, but right after he changes you, like 5 minutes later you end up needing a diaper change, so he undresses you again to change your diaper only to have to change your clothes again after you spit up some milk 10 minutes later

it only really seems to happen to him and boy is tired

his favorite times are probably when he’s on baby duty and ur sleeping

1) because he doesn’t have to deal with those poor mishaps and 

2) no one bothers him when ur sleeping

yeah sure u have a baby car seat thingy but he also uses the carrier thing that get strapped onto you

kunikida makes sure dazai isn’t near him so that u can sleep which means he doesn’t get dragged into what poor atsushi-kun got dragged into by his mentor

not his circus not his monkeys or whatever the saying is

another plus ranpo-san can’t send him on any errands bc the president (god bless him) forbade him 

and yosano-sensei can’t try to bring him into her office when he gets a papercut or some shit

he’s terrified even when he knows she’s joking

anyways, all in all a pretty solid 8 or 9/10

usually the one taking care of u when everyone else is pretty busy

she and haruno-san love to buy u cute little outfits to dress u up in

maybe goes a little overboard…

“n-naomi-san isn’t that a little too much..? and my arms are getting tired…”

started to play peek-a-boo with u and lowkey regrets it a little bc u want to play for what seems like forever

just mindlessly yaps to u while she works and u just sit there in your little carrier car seat thing with a rattle

atsushi fears when he and tanizaki come back from some sort of errand or mission bc well…yk naomi

“jokes” abt how ur like her child and him coming back from the mission is like him coming back to take care of his family…

…yeah atsushi snatches u right out of that situation very, very quickly

but despite those…uncomfortable moments, atsushi genuinely trusts her with u

he’s glad that you’ll have a somewhat more normal female figure to look up to (sis/bro con thing aside)

your other options are yosano and kyouka and well, while he trusts them with his life and care abt them sm…

teehee finds u cute

all the kids loved to play with him back in his village bc he was so strong but he’s never looked after someone this young before

he gets along with old people pretty well, but yeah hasn’t hung around babies much

when he goes around town to just help out the old folks, he brings u along since he knows that they like to see u too hehe

everyone literally needs sunglasses to look at you both

it’s too bright

likes reading children’s book to u

especially when it’s abt farmers or smth on a farm since he can share his own stories too

Is very fond of singing the old mcdonald had a farm

introduced u to his cow and kunikida nearly had a heart attack seeing it in the office

“(y/n)-chan this is a cow! just like the one old mcdonald had! remember cows go moo!”

“kenji, i can take over watching (y/n)--WHY IS THERE A COW IN THE AGENCY?!?!”

got scolded by kunikida but got saved bc dazai was giggling so kunikida went to strangle him instead

besides ranpo and dazai, tbh kenji is the one that give kunikida the most heart attacks bc unlike the other two where kunikida knows they’re joking (he hopes), kenji genuinely doesn’t know any better (for the most part)

“kenji have you seen–WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”

“oh! hello kunikida-san!”

“kenji why are you throwing (y/n) up in the air like that?!”

yk how when she gets excited or amazed, her eyes sparkle amd stuff, that’s what she’s like when u start to giggle, babble, or coo

while getting the hang of watching over the baby, she does over time, begin to relax a little, but there was this one incident where you, her, and atsushi were walking through the city, you in atsushi’s arms when someone accidentally bumped into him and in like .2847309 seconds kyouka had her blade out

atsushi profusely apologized, bowing again and again for 5 minutes while kyouka stood behind him with an impassive look on her face as she held you

can even give kunikida a run for his money

(not that he has much given how often dazai steals his wallet…)

speaking of money

is lowkey excited for when you can start eating solids and have other things besides formula bc she can have tofu with u at tachibana

atsushi will mourn that day bc of his poor wallet

overall, just adores being with u

and bc of the fact that she and atsushi dorm together, she gets to spend more time with u!

although, in her eagerness to do everything…

sometimes it leave atsushi with nothing to do (・_・;)

nonetheless, thinks it’s endearing the way she cares for u

no matter how intense she can be (￣ ￣|||)
