you know what fuck it i make enough rant posts on this page already, what's one more
here's my personal experiences with UHC:
when I was about 11 years old I was having a lot of trouble with running and jumping and other activities I was expected to do a lot as an 11 year old. It got really bad at one point and my mom took me to my pediatrician who told me "yeah that's a specialist thing" and referred me to one.
our insurance (UHC) wouldn't cover it because I didn't have a diagnosis that would warrant it. even to 12 year old me this was really fucking stupid because how was i supposed to get a diagnosis if they wouldn't pay for my trip to the doctor to get a diagnosis?
Anyway, we did end up going (my parents had to pay out of pocket) and I got informed that there's an extra bone in my foot!! this was horrifying news!!
potential treatment includes:
surgery (expensive and not covered by UHC)
physical therapy (indefinitely, not guaranteed to change anything, expensive, and also not covered by insurance)
taking an ibuprofen daily for a week and then not for a week and then doing it again for a week, and not, and so on so forth, again indefinitely (cheap, i guess? nothing really for insurance to cover but the solution is effectively "fuck you deal w it"???)
anyway it's not something that can get better with time because there's a whole fucking bone there that shouldn't be so i've been dealing with that since. UHC won't cover anything for it because some days i'm okay! and then other days i try to stand up and crumple to the floor but that's not important because some days im okay! fuck you, UHC. i want to be able to run around n shit.
then there's the cost of blood tests which they won't cover because again, i don't have a diagnosis to warrant a blood test, even thought the reason i need the test is for the diagnosis, still stupid.
and also medication! i'm so happy it's covered by UHC (apparently a lot of other insurance providers wouldn't) but the copay on these!! is fucking insane!! tell me why the meds that keep me stable and functioning are like 50$ a month when they're "fully covered"!! that is not full coverage you are covering part of it!! why am i paying for something you're apparently covering the entirety of!! what the fuck!!
now none of this is really anywhere close to "that bad" compared to what other people have gone and continue to go through. I can't imagine knowing you or a loved one has a limited time to live and they could survive if insurance covered life saving treatment. It sounds genuinely awful.
but either way that's me, uh, fuck you UHC, my foot gets worse every year and has directly resulted in a bunch of other injuries that have permanent effects that only make my life more difficult. all could have been solved when I was like 11 but you said no :D!! least you could do is cover the cost of all the tape i go through and the cane. but no because your bottom line or whatever.

The American Justice System is sending a very powerful message.
They will not condemn Nazism. They will only slap the wrists of people (white rightwing men) who storm our most sacred government buildings. Mass shooters will face justice, but the act of mass killing is nothing more than run of the mill murder.
But kill a CEO? Speak out against institutions that kill and cause suffering for millions? That's terrorism. That's a terrorist threat. Nevermind how many mass shooters and capital rioters had bombing plans and what have you. Only killing a CEO will get you terrorism if you're white.
They really want to dissuade us. To make a show of Luigi Mangione so we learn our lesson and leave the rich and powerful alone. Because they'll protect them no matter the cost. Fuck that. Fuck that and this country. Do not get quiet about it. Do not get quiet about Briana Boston either. This is tyranny.

honestly sitting here ready to cry learning that Luigi Mangione (The Adjuster) had a spine condition at L5-S1. for him it led to a spinal fusion surgery.
i have a mystery illness at L5-S1. i know the pain that comes there. nothing is ever comfortable. it hurts so fucking badly, and any non-opioid medication can't make it bearable.
i have a medicaid managed care plan, which only very few doctors take. let alone good doctors. i've been struggling for 5 years trying to figure out whats wrong. i see doctors for 5 mins, they tell me there's nothing they can do for me, they don't know what's wrong, say it's anxiety, or my weight, etc.
this man. this man knows my pain. maybe not with the same details, but the story is the same. chronic low back pain in a fucking broken medical system.
i can't even put into words the emotions i have about this. it's evident that Luigi Mangione is such an intelligent individual, and the fact he was driven to this point, instead of being able to live a happy, safe, fulling life - god. it's a crime.
we all deserve better than this. fuck the ruling class.

This Luigi business has, I think, really exposed something we all knew about in the US justice system, but has for so long been pretended to not exist by all of this country's communication and media controllers.
Despite the fact that we are all meant to be private citizens, all held within equal respect by and to the law, there are some very different classes of people as far as courts are concerned.
If Luigi Mangione had shot some middle class, pencil pushing office schlub or retail salesman, there'd have been a however temporary stink made about on the television. And if they ever did catch him, he'd be dragged through the courts, and maybe become the center of a "shame on you" piece on the 6 o'clock news. But in all likelihood they never would have bothered to catch him. They'd say "we're doing our best" and they'd forget about it. No manhunt, no media circus, no $60,000 bounty put on his head by the FBI.
If Luigi Mangione had shot, say, a black man, nothing would have happened at all. It's unlikely we would even have any inkling of it.
But Luigi Mangione didn't kill someone from the lower class, he didn't even kill someone from the middle class. He killed Bryan Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, a Fortune 500 company. He killed a nobleman. And that means he's to be dragged into court surrounded by a small army of guards, charged with crimes wholly unrelated to whatever he's allegedly done, and before all of that, made the subject of a national manhunt.
If nothing else, it's become abundantly clear just who the courts consider to be worth their time.

nooooo little chronically online leftist don’t fall for the media’s pervasive purity testing and villainizing that’s specifically made to divide us and keep us fighting amongst ourselves when we should be focusing on getting the boot off our throats

I think it would be funny if Luigi Mangione got off on a technicality.
Like, “Oopsie! The police used an illegal surveillance method to find him. Now the whole case has to be dropped.”
“Uh oh! The jury thinks he’s guilty, but they think the terrorism charge is too much, so they vote Not Guilty on the entire thing because the New York DA got too overzealous.”
Like that’d just be perfection.
