So I found this on Weibo and I couldn't stop laughing. This is incredibly niche but I feel the need to share and explain this to my friends on this side.

So the bottom half is the photos that we initially thought were the royal suitor photos before the movie came out, then realized it was in the texting montage, then confirmed by Matthew that this actually isn't Alex and Henry, it was Taylor and Nick chilling between takes.

NOW, the photo on top is a still from 1987 TV show adaptation of one of the four Chinese Classics: "The Dream of the Red Chamber". That is the main couple reading another classical Chinese novel (yes this is very meta) "Romance of the Western Chamber" together, and I think this book that they're reading is the first romance novel/love story to have the couple be in starkly different social standings yet be together in the end.

This isn't a case of parallel in the same sense as my posts putting firstprince and Rapunzel x Eugene or Simba x Nala or Jack x Rose together and finding similarities. In fact, the couple from Red Chamber is nothing like firstprince or Taylor and Nick, not even remotely close, and their relationship ended in tragedy: spoilers, the girl died of a broken heart and the boy lost the will to live and became a monk.

But the point here is that this pair? This is our culture's Romeo and Juliet, our Pyramus and Thisbe. This scene in particular, this imagery of them reading in the garden together, has the same significance as the balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet. Like, if you ask a Chinese person for an imagery from classical literature that depicts love, this is the image most people will say.

AND SOMEHOW THIS PHOTO OF TAYLOR AND NICK THAT WE ALL THOUGHT WAS ALEX AND HENRY LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME AS IT

This is the most random connection and it's definitely a stretch but as someone who cried over the ship in the top half at the age of 11 I am so fucking amused by this comparison

2) Who's your OCs best friend? How did they become best friends?

Jia's best friend is Lydia. Lydia grew up in Whiterun (I headcanon that she's Jarl Balgruuf's niece, daughter of his brother, Hrongar!), so I think she and Jia have known each other for a long time, since Jia grew up in Whiterun as well. But they became best friends when Lydia was officially appointed to be her housecarl by the Jarl. Lydia is a very happy and 'open' person, vibrant and full of life—I think she helped Jia lower her walls and be more carefree... she's the best influence Jia could ever have (she's also a fantastic warrior, so there's also that!). And Jia never treated her like a housecarl, she was too shy and awkward to ask her to do anything for her. So, they began having a mutual respect and fondness for one another, which grew into a very powerful friendship. I think, aside from Miraak and the Companions, she's the only person she could ever trust completely. No wonder they built Heljarchen Hall and now live there together! They truly are home mates...🤲

4) What song describes your OC and their partner/love interest?

OUGH I HAVE SEVERAL FOR JIA AND HER MIRAAK. I think the most prominent ones are two, though:

7) Vice-Versa! If your OC is in the modern day, what fantasy class would they be? Would they be a different race?

Okay, since Jia is already in a fantasy setting, I will answer what she potentially would be in a modern one!

I really see her doing a job that involves getting around people a lot. I can see her working as a nurse or a midwife (I'm inclining towards the second), being by a doctor's side (but not fully a doctor as she's not a healer in her universe too, only an alchemist), and helping people in need. She'd be a very home-lover, so she'd like spending her free time tending her garden, watching movies, or reading her books (SHE'D LIVE IN A VERY SMALL HOUSE IN THE WOODS, AWAY FROM THE CITY'S NOISES, ALONGSIDE HER MIRAAK). She would go for a walk when it'd be sunny outside while drinking her hot coffee and relaxing in nature. She would also move around only with her bike; she'd hate driving a car because she wouldn't stand it when she made a mistake and the other drivers yelled at her...🥲

Jia was and shall always be perfection. And that's probably the most Marcus would describe her as, especially at first. Johnny legit thought his mum's name was Love for a bit growing up because that's what his dad called her constantly. However, as he got more comfortable with them, he probably started telling them more about her and it would be summed up kinda like this.

Marcus's Description:

"Jia was amazing. The love of my life. I don't know how I lived before meeting her. She was just... my entire world. Johnny's my universe. She's my world. Fearless, almost to a fault, and even more stubborn than I am. She loved music and animals and would always be soft around the latter and kids. She loved them. I think she wanted more but having Johnny was hard enough. She was kind though, and the smartest woman I ever met. Probably the smartest person too. Like scarily so. Ji was also the biggest spit-fire of the century as well. The first time I met her, she broke my bio brother's nose for being an asshole. He deserved it. Generosity was a big thing for her too, giving back and all that. She was good, kind, loving, very devoted to things she cared about. And she was also strong, determined, ambitious, stubborn, and a bit hot-headed. She could be scary, when things went sideways and always fought for what she believed in, no matter who stood against her. But she was also the kindest soul I think I have ever met, besides our child of course. But then again, he takes after her. I loved Jia, very much, with every breath I take. I still love her even now. She was perfect."

And as a treat... Johnny's Description:

"I don't remember that much of mum. She died when I was six. So a lot of memories I have of her are cloudy but I do know I love her. A lot. And she loved me more than anything too. She was patient, teaching me to play the piano before I could even walk and never yelling even when I was being crazy as a baby. She was kind. I remember her telling me how to treat others and all about manners, showing me to bring stuff with me incase others needed it like a snack or water or a bandaid. Small things like that. In my memory, she's sort of angelic. I remember she would sing a lot. Or at least hum. And the whole flat would be full of music. Constantly. She would do funny voices when telling me stories too and when she was teasing dad with me. Mum was funny. We laughed a lot. Dad says I'm a lot like her now, so I guess there's that too. She was a good mum, the best one, and I miss her a lot."

When asked, both Taylor boys will talk at length about Jia and what she was like. Stan and Barry know her from these stories and memories, both the sweet and gentle ones of Johnny's youth and couple-y moments with Marcus, and the much more terrifying moments of spit-fire Jia whenever someone was being a bigot or an ass. They both are a bit scared of her because of this, because they've heard what it's like to get on her bad side but also really admire her. She was a wonderful human being who loved helping others and made that a priority in her life.
