Long before he was Gomez Addams, Raúl Juliá starred in the Broadway revival of Dracula which ran at the Martin Beck Theatre (now the Al Hirschfeld Theatre) in New York for 925 performances from October 20th, 1977 until January 6th, 1980. Also seen with Raúl in these photos are Everett McGill and Valerie Mahaffey. Raúl replaced Frank Langella in the play as Count Dracula, who left the production in 1978 to star in the screen adaptation opposite Laurence Olivier as Professor Van Helsing (the film was released in 1979). The Broadway revival won two Tony Awards during its run, for Most Innovative Production of a Revival and Best Costume Design (Edward Gorey). The revival was so popular that it spawned touring productions during the Broadway run and featured actors Jean LeClerc, Jeremy Brett and Terence Stamp in the leading role.
