Batfamily head cannons I have- in no specific order:
Jason went back to school/got his GED, then went to college and got his English, History, teaching, and musical arts degrees, just so he can shove it anyone’s face when they try to say he’s dumb or say he’s a drop out.
Damian fosters animals in the manor. He’ll show up with two boxes of kittens, and everyone will see like 10 kittens around the house until it goes back down to just Alfred- wait did he always have that cat named Knives? Yes? Okay, well then the 10- 9 my bad, the nine cats find homes and he’s left with Alfred and Knives.
Dick IS the male equivalent of Barbie, he’s got a full wall just dedicated to the degrees he’s accumulated over the years. He’s got an art degree and a business degree. No one knows where he gets the time and he refuses to elaborate.
Tim has albinism. Now I know some people hate the Asian Tim HC because of the stereotypes it makes him fall into, but I personally HC him as mixed (Wasian). I like to think that Jack was Armenian and Janet was white- can be interchangeable-, but Tim came out with albinism, white wavy hair, blue eyes, and skin whiter than paper. But because of how much he looked up to Robin and found him cool, he started to dye his hair black (kinda like Jason back when he was a ginger/strawberry blonde).
Duke is trans. This is a projection so don’t say anything about how we saw him when he was young. I know. He’s just one of my favorite characters and I love to HC my favorite characters as trans like I am. But I think he’s specifically a Demiboy or a trans man- I’m kinda on the fence. But either one works for me.
Cass is the shortest batkid- by a LANDSLIDE. I personally think she’d be like 5’2 (157cm) while all of the other bat kids are like 5’5+ (165cm+). I have no reason beyond the fact she’s scary. Like imagine you’re being attacked by this 6’5 (195cm) man who’s wearing a red helmet just for this girl over a foot shorter than him to be the reason you should actually be scared?? Id shit my pants.
Duke can SNIFF out a bargain. If you’ve watched the amazing world of gumball, think about Nicole and the way she straight up sniffed out a bargain and we met her parents. That’s how I think he is. They go into a store and Tim picks up a game and Duke pauses, for a second thinking, then shakes his head ‘Nah, it’s cheaper by 32 cents at Walmart. Trust’. Tim does not gaf about its price. But he puts it down just to please Duke.
Jason has all of his foster parent licenses and shit. He got them before he was even deemed legally alive again. Then proceeded to get them again as actually Jason Todd. He has his address listed as the only Safe House with normal neighbors. The apartment complex probably has like two-three rooms and the neighbors all have kids too.
Cass choreographs ballet dances to Tik Tok sounds and posts them and they go viral, to the point people don’t even know who the OG dancer is. (It’s her.)
Tim will not acknowledge someone if they don’t refer to him by name. If he’s at a gala and they try to talk to him by calling him ‘Drake’ or ‘Bruce’s son’ or anything else he just turns around and walks away. But as soon as they do refer to him by name he starts to talk about how shitty the world is. (From the verity of ages he says it to, they either don’t like what he says or agree 100%)
Dick can and will yell in your face if you try to disrespect someone in his presence. If you’re talking to someone and you keep cutting them off he will yell at you to shut the fuck up and let the other person say what they need to say.
Damian is that person who people will always go to if they need advice on how to get a new animal. Say you want a bird, you’ve never had one before, Damian will be the person you trust to ask the questions to. And he’d answer you no matter how dumb the question is. ‘How many times do I feed her?’ ‘Two to three times a day.’

Me:
Tumblr media
(Alternatively, I may have started it, but @katkastrofa enabled me and now I’m losing my mind)
#Kat and Nia and their multiverse of madness#first rule of interacting with Nia: don’t suggest a dark/whumpy/extremely angsty concept to them#they’ll take it and run a marathon with it and next thing you know their own ideas are making them cry#this is just what happens when I start developing an OC during a rough time in my life#happens every time. guess who came up with Summiya’s fall from grace after their college application fell through??#and since Summiya has a more or less completed storyline. it’s now someone else’s turn#namely Jia’s. also Sunat’s but. mostly Jia’s. Sunat is more angst than whump and I’m craving PAIN#I’ve been frothing at the mouth thinking about Jia all day#just.. imagine how terrified she must have been when she was brought before Jusamah. when he said that he’d make her talk one way or another#and if she doesn’t want to obey and confess willingly… something else can be arranged#how her fear got even worse when she was dragged into the palace dungeons. when she saw the whipping post#begging for mercy as she was stripped and tied. swearing on her life that she doesn’t know anything. that she’s innocent#rambling incoherently right up until the first hit lands. after that it’s just screams and sobs and barely audible ‘I don’t know’s#all the while she’s yelled at by a man three times her age who refuses to believe that she truly doesn’t know anything#and she doesn’t. all she did was point Aiza in a direction. she has no proof she even went in it#I don’t want to get to graphic here but let’s just say I read an article on whipping and it’s.. it’s bad#the aftermath is brutal and bloody and passing out from the pain would be a mercy#and afterwards… I do think someone is called to tend to her so she doesn’t bleed to death before they can get a confession out of her#and that person is kind. if a little detached emotionally. and likely her back could have been salvaged if the whipping didn’t repeat#but it did. because they need her to confess. maybe the excruciating pain of reopened wounds will get her to talk…#it doesn’t. she never says anything. and after a while they move on from torture to locking her up and starving her#maybe that’ll finally break her. perhaps she’s still whipped occasionally even afterwards but for the most part she’s just left alone-#in some dark cell and questioned occasionally. it lasts anywhere from weeks to months and yet she never gives out the one detail she knows#because Aiza’s safety depends on it and she knows Aiza’s punishment will be much worse than hers if she’s caught#but anyway. enough of the bloody horror show. instead think about what it must’ve been like for her parents#the town is alight with scandal following the disappearance of Lady Aiza. you know a bit about her since your daughter works for her#you don’t hear from your daughter for a while. eventually someone tells you that she’s been convicted of helping Lady Aiza run away#she’s been under interrogation since. no one’s seen her but rumour has it they’re torturing her. there’s little you can do as a poor family#you request an audience with Lord Jusamah. it takes a long time to to be granted but eventually you’re before him begging for your daughter#apparently she’s proven to be a useless waste of resources so she’s released to you. you barely recognise her. AND I REACHED TAG LIMIT FML

By the next week, you’re a flurry of emotions. Mostly, you’re nervous.
Nail bitingly nervous.
You’re not sure how it’s got this bad, to the point where you’re scared to attend your own class- but you’ve been in this for three years now, and you’re not about to give up at the last stretch.
You refuse. You’d be damned if you let a man get in the way of your dream, your degree or anything you wanted to achieve.
You wrap your denim coat around you, teeth lightly chattering as you make your way over to the classroom.
“Hey, wait up,” you turn, looking over your shoulder. It’s a guy, you’re pretty sure is from your class, but you don’t really pay enough attention to know for certain.
He smiles at you as he catches up and you can see his breath in the cold dark morning. “I uh, I just wanted to say hi,” he says and you raise an eyebrow. This was doing absolutely nothing for you.
You round the corner to class in an awful silence, thankful when you see Molly waiting there for you, coffee in hand. Her head practically snaps towards the guy walking next you, but you just shake your head as you walk up to her.
“Good morning beautiful, coffee?” She asks, holding yours out while evil eyeing the guy stood half in the doorway, waiting.
“Who is that?” Molly whisper yells, taking a sip from her coffee, eyes never leaving him. You shrug, warming your hands on your own.
“Not a clue, he just wanted to say hi apparently,”
“That’s a shame,” Molly begins, raising her voice. “Too bad you’re spoken for,” both eyebrows raise as you look over your shoulder, seeing the guys shoulders slump as he enters the classroom. Your ears are scarlet red from the cold, but also the embarrassment.
You’d kinda forgot Rafe existed until Molly said that, and now you were back to feeling all nervous and shitty about going into class.
Molly grins, linking her hand into your own as she leads you into the classroom too, seeing the guy sat at the very back, at the top. You don’t give him much thought, mind already clouded with rafe, when you both take a seat on the bottom row again.
Speaking of- Rafe is sat at his desk, legs crossed onto the desk, head in a book. He’s got a blue knitted sweater on and some dark dress pants on.
“He looks yummy,” Molly whispers, nudging your arm. You sigh, observing the way he thumbs the page at the top of the book. With the way you were acting, anyone would think that you were as in love with him as the next person.
With that, you weren’t sure.
The last few students flutter into class and you look around, not spotting Kendra. Her minions are here, but no top bimbo.
Rafe closes his book, a noise you notice immediately as you turn back around, to see his eyes already boring into your own- for what feels like forever, like he’s trying to read you, before he looks away, smiling and clearing his throat.
“Welcome in guys, don’t worry, I’ve got the heating on,” a few laughs come from around the room as Rafe moves from around his desk to come stand at the front of it.
“So, we’re nearing the end of this first chunk of content- so I thought I’d give you an actual test this time. See how you’re all doing. Yes, you will be graded.” A chorus of groans.
You watch as Rafe crosses his arms over his chest and despite the sweater, you can still see his biceps- flexing as he laughs at everyone’s pity party. He reaches behind him, grabbing an even thicker stack of paper compared to the last one, and begins handing them out. He throws two on your table for you and Molly before moving onwards, not even giving you a second look.
“What was that?” Molly asks and you shrug, completely confused yourself.
“Okay guys,” Rafe begins as he stands back at the front of the class. “You get sixty minutes. No more, no less, starting now.”
The classroom falls silent as you open the first page of the paper, the material completely engraved in your mind. It doesn’t take you long to get halfway through the paper, trying to remember that you have to explain more how you got your answer, when someone taps you on the shoulder.
You turn, seeing the girl behind you beckoning hushed with a note, trying to do so without Rafe seeing. You take it, confused as you briefly look around the room. The guy from earlier slightly waves at you, grinning as he mouths for you to open it.
You turn back, cheeks burning as you unfold the piece of scrap paper.
I don’t care if you’re spoken for. I’d like to take you on a date.
Tobey
Molly taps your leg and you turn the note so she can see it, and it doesn’t take two seconds before she’s turning around and shooting him the evils. You don’t even get time to send back a no when the note is snatched out of your hand, Rafe bringing it up to read.
His eyes glance over the piece of paper before looking down at you and you shake your head- you do not want to get kicked out of class for this. There’s something behind his eyes as he looks up and spots Tobey, who’s doing anything but look now he’s been caught.
“Tobey Brown,” Rafe says, voice commanding. Everyone albeit stops what they’re doing at glances between the two, as Tobey catches Rafe’s eyes.
“Why are you passing notes in a test?” Rafe asks and Tobey shrugs, dropping his pen.
“You’re really gonna get between two students in love?” Tobey snickers, causing some of the people in the classroom to laugh. Rafe’s eyes dart down to your own as if confirming with you, to which you shake your head. He nods, looking back up at Tobey.
“You bet your ass I am. You’re disqualified from this test and you’ll receive zero points. Leave my classroom now.” You can hear Tobey scoff.
“You can’t do that,” he sounds unsure in himself, but Rafe only grins.
“I can, and I am. You don’t pass notes during tests- especially to girls who don’t want them,” a few more people laugh in the class and you look back to see Tobey’s eyes burning into you as he grabs his things. He doesn’t say a further word as he huffs out of the classroom, slamming the door behind him.
“Back to your tests guys, twenty minutes left,” Rafe says, crumpling up the note and throwing it into the trash can next to his desk.
The twenty minutes fly by, and it’s not long before Rafe is stood at the front of his desk, collecting papers from everyone as they leave. This time, you’re not the last one to leave as you pass him your paper, hoping he won’t say anything- but he does.
“Hey, mind staying back for a quick chat?” You nod, standing off to the side as everyone leaves, Molly included. She doesn’t go without a wiggle of her eyebrows and it makes you giggle, as Rafe shuts the classroom door.
He takes a seat back at his desk and you walk over, standing in front. “So, where were you last week?” He asks, folding his arms over his chest.
“I uh, wasn’t feeling too well,” you lie. You know he knows you’re lying too, you can see it in his eyes. He nods, leaning forward, and you can see him swallow.
“That uh, Tobey Brown kid, you’re not seeing him are you?” The question shocks you, and you’re sure it’d slap you in the face if it could.
“Why do you care if I am?” A flash of anger reaches across his face, before it disappears again, replaced with a look of discomfort.
“I’m not saying- I just don’t think he’s a good kid,” kid. The word sinks in like bricks in a pool, heavy and hard. If he thought Tobey was a kid- what did he think of you?
You were the same age as Tobey afterall. It put everything you thought into question- was he just an overly affectionate guy to his students? Or was he a creep. You bite your tongue instead of asking.
Rafe can sense a change in your mood, like you’re lost deep in thought- so he stands, beckoning for you to follow him into his office. He grabs your paper, opening the door.
You follow. Like you’re on autopilot, you follow him. You take a seat at the all too familiar chair as he takes a seat from across you, placing the paper between you.
He doesn’t open it. You’re wondering why, basking in the silence between the two of you when he speaks.
“Are we going to review my paper?” your eyes meet his own. He’s lax, sat back in his seat, arms crossed on his chest and his legs sit wide open under the table. They don’t quite touch yours, not yet.
“Yes, yes we are. I’m gonna tell you what’s wrong and you’re gonna re figure it out,” he tells you, smile watched into his features as he leans forward. He opens the paper, scanning through it as he looks for something you’ve done wrong.
You’re looking too, waiting for when he stops- and when he finally does, you’re embarrassed. It’s an easy question, that you were positive you’d got right. Rafe places the paper in front of you, finger jabbing the spot where you’re supposed to be looking before passing you a pen.
“You’ve gone wrong at some point during this, and I want you to figure out how,” he says, leaning back again. You nod, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear before leaning down and looking at the question.
It doesn’t take you long to get frustrated, getting the same answer over and over again. You whine, looking up at Rafe who’s watching you with amusement. “I can’t figure it out,”
“Why not? What’s confusing you?” His voice is cool, slicing right through your thoughts and you completely forget what you were going to say.
“I don’t know, I get the same answer every time,” rafe nods, standing from his chair. He’s round the desk in no time, leaning over you and looking at your reworkings of the question.
Your lungs stop working. You can’t breathe, eyes darting down at your slightly shaking hand as he’s all in your space. His presence feels so inviting, warm musky smell going right through your nostrils despite the lack of breathing you’re able to do.
He jabs the page again, causing your eyes to flutter over where he’s looking. He takes the pen from your hand, crossing out one of your workings and replacing it with his own. It changes the entire equation, giving a complete different answer from the one you had.
You feel so stupid. The pen drops to the paper and Rafe leans in closer. “Do you get it now?” He whispers, breath hot and heavy on your neck, causing you to shiver.
You nod, slowly, feeling his back against the back of your head as it tips backwards with your nod. Both his hands splay on the desk around you, caging you in.
“Yeah? Explain it to me,” he drawls, and you feel the heat crawl up your neck. If he could, he’d see your face bright red.
“I uh- I fucked up with one of my last equations which sent me in the wrong direction- it should’ve uh, been m equals 15x and not m equals 16x. I’m not sure where the extra number came from,” you whisper, gulping as he leans in even closer, if possible.
“Good. I knew you’d get there eventually, sweetheart.” You thought, when you first saw this man two weeks ago, you wouldn’t be like everyone else in class. He was a pretty face, the new chew toy for all the girls in class. You’d have thought- you wouldn’t be bothered by his voice, or his muscles, or his face- but boy, was he testing you.
You turn in the chair, looking up at him as he’s already staring down at you. You can feel it, feel the need, as neither of you move an inch. Just staring. You couldn’t deny how attractive he was, especially this close. His eyes break away from your own and down to your lips, before looking back up at you. There’s something there, glinting behind his blue irises.
He moves closer. If this were anywhere else, there wouldn’t be that nagging in the back of your head that this were wrong. He’s your teacher- but, the other side argues that he’s just an assistant- but god, you’d be damned if you weren’t feeling this right now. In this moment, he’s not your teacher. This is something else.
His eyes dart down to your lips again and it feels like you’ve been here for a millennia before he whispers, “fuck it.”
And suddenly, you’re kissing. He leans in closer, hands grasping your cheeks as you try to turn in the seat even more, grasping at his sweater. He kisses you like he’s got no oxygen, hands swiping up to push your hair behind your ears.
You moan slightly as his teeth scrape your bottom lip, fingers wrapping around his neck and scraping your fingers through the buzzed hair there. Rafe groans, pulling you up from the chair and pushing it out of the way. His hands make their way down to your waist, pushing you backwards towards the desk. You reach up, sitting on the desk, lips still locked onto Rafe’s.
One of his hands wrapped around your waist, the other splays on top your thigh just at the edge of your dress. You can feel his hand slipping behind your denim jacket, onto the small of your back as he pulls you towards the edge of the desk and you open your legs for him, allowing him to slot in between.
He groans, pulling away from you. He’s breathing heavy, lips swollen, and you can only imagine what you look like if he still looks that good.
He looks down between the two of you, letting out a heavy sigh. “You’re killing me, fuck.” His fingers play with the edge of your dress, chest heaving. You move a hand up the back of his head, feeling the buzz before pulling him back in for another kiss.
He accepts, capturing your lips again, hand slipping underneath your dress. He’s sliding his fingers over the sensitive part of your thigh, getting closer and closer to where you know you’re positively soaked, because of him.
And then reality hits. Like a freight train, it hits. You’re in his office, kissing your teacher. Kissing a twenty seven year old man. You pull back, shaking your head as the foggy mush finally leaves. Rafe’s look is questioning but he pulls back, hands leaving you colder than previously.
“I just- I don’t know, I think this is-” Rafe nods, face turning to stone. He fully pulls away from you, standing to the side as he sorts his pants out.
“Yeah, I’ll see you tomorrow for class.” He doesn’t look at you and you wonder what you’ve done wrong, but he doesn’t say another word as you grab your bag, silently leaving the office.
As you reach your car, you can’t help but feel you’re made a mistake- uncomfortable heat between your legs and heavy head unable to think straight. You don’t know really, what actually just happened- but you know Molly was right.
You definitely wanted more. It makes you wonder why you stopped in the first place, freezing up like you did the time before. You’ve never had a man make you this nervous, ever.
But the way that he reacted when you stopped? It wasn’t good. Like he thought you regretted it or something, when you didn’t. You were just confused.
As you turn the ignition, you run your hands over your face. You weren’t sure what you’d got yourself into, but this was far from over.

RickFic Ch2. You’re Not Invited
(Tags: substance abuse / harassment / intoxication / adult situations and themes / Minors DNI)
—- HELLO —-
—- INITIATING DOWNLOAD SEQUENCE MEMORY CLUSTER #2 —-
—-PULLING UP EARLIEST ASSISTED MEMORY RECORDS —-
—- NARRATION SIMULATING NOW —-
The next few weeks and month ended up roughly similar to how things went that other day at school. Astrid kept finding herself in seemingly awkward or uncomfortable run ins with Rick Sanchez as she tried hanging around his grandkids more. Getting used to working at the school really started to open her eyes as to how much Rick really did show up unannounced. Always plucking Morty and Summer off the face of the Earth and going off on some insane quest for personal gains. Part of Astrid felt a little envious of all that freedom Rick had no problem abusing. Even going so far as getting a little excited when she was accidentally teleported along with the three off planet yet again.
“Fuck. N-not this again.” Rick groaned while  looking at Astrid in his rear view mirror. Astrid sat in the back seat next to Summer in the space ship.
“Mr. Sanchez you’re the one who teleported me here.” Astrid almost annoyed stared directly back at him through the mirror.
His eyes narrowed even more after receiving the comment, “Oh y-yeah. RIGHT. I’m s-supposed to know my dumb grandkids are still *burp* b-barking up the same tree.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Summer asked annoyed as Morty quickly blurted, “Please Rick! Come on! Let her come with us.”
“It means Summer…..” Rick shouted over Morty,
“I’m not h-humoring another little unrequited *burp* crush Morty has-“
Morty’s face went red as he was about to yell when Summer interrupted him, “Well what about me grandpa?! I want her around. What are you going to say to that?”
“T-that’s self explanatory.” He smugly laughed, “You’re a stupid teenager. Y-you’d get bored of her. End up being-becoming enemies. She would end up flirt-taking your *eeeruuhg* boyfriend or something stupid and petty like that.”
“Well you seem to have it all figured out old man.” Astrid said sarcastically as they propped their feet up against the back of his seat.
“That’s it.” Rick huffed and pulled out the portal gun.
“NO! RICK!” Morty protested.
Rick fired his portal right next to Astrid and reached back from the driver seat and grabbed her hard by the upper arm.
“Try again next time.” He sarcastically smiled at her and shoved her through the portal back into an empty school classroom.
She heard Summer complain, “You fucking suck grandpa!” Right as the portal snapped shut again in her face.
“God. Fuck you Sanchez!” Astrid said to herself but stood up grinning.
She thought about how fun it might be to make her new personal mission to get under Rick’s skin. She laughed and headed home. Maybe things could get more interesting if she started not taking things so seriously. Could be a fun experiment.
Easier said than done. It had been weeks since being kicked out of Rick Sanchez’s space ship. She had still caught wind and tail of him in the past days popping in and out of the school. However today ended up not being so great for everyone. Summer and Morty had both freaked out after a mission had almost gone wrong with Rick. They explained to Astrid not take it personally. They just needed alone time after whatever it was that went down. They refused to go into details. This made Astrid always worry about them, relating to how they felt in those moments. It reminded her of how bad training days at the agency went in the past when she was around their age. But she respected their space, worrying it could make it worse if she tried to persist on the topic.
It had been hard on her lately too. She had found herself on a drinking binge that previous night after yet again checking in with her Handler and being told to return back to her post. He barely looked at her these days. Always keeping his back to her. So she fell back on old habits and got too plastered to think what was a good vs bad idea. Astrid haphazardly tried to use her “magic” abilities to open a makeshift portal off planet while intoxicated to a popular strip club on a distant planet’s moon. They used to work there during their honeypot training days for the agency. In spite of their current Handler warning them not to return anywhere near the club after the “incident”. Of course they did anyway. In their drunk state of mind they figured they could at least make some cash and be a complete mess at the same time and no one would say anything. In fact the Club’s owner was almost a little too thrilled by their return. The owner went by the name Glacks Asmodeus. Playing into his roll as the said club owner of “The Room”. As loud music boomed through the building he slid over to greet Astrid.
“Hey baby, it’s been tooooo long~” he crowed to her in a sickly sweet voice.
This sent a shiver down her spine. But she was drunk enough to power through it. She played it up as if she had missed him too. Fake love was currency here. He fancied her as his favorite trophy due to her natorious reputation around the universe.
“Hey daddy.” Astrid quickly replied and braced herself for a hug he would inevitably give her.
He smoothed back his hair that looked like a slicked down Mohawk full of thousands of sharp quills. His body looked like that of a leather gimp suit if it were for a reptilian. He wore a large fur coat with pink, red, purple and yellow patches all over it. Under that he had a black combo of a button up, vest and matching pants. Multiple chains and pearl strands hung from his neck. And to finish it off he had pointed steel metal toed shoes with custom engraved designs of alien words in the metal.
“Like the new coat? Hunted it myself.” He hissed proudly, “Finally decided to come back hmm?” He whispered in her ear as he came in for an overly tight and dominating hug.
“You know I was about to send people to go find you.” he said in a joking manner even though it was clearly a threat.
“Well you know the agency…” Astrid forced a fake smile, “They insisted I needed a little time off, but you know I couldn’t stay away from you.” She playfully glanced up at him.
He grinned wide showing his endless rows of horrifying dagger like teeth.
“That’s right baby.” He pulled her over to his VIP booth and sat her down on his lap with is leather glove covered hands.
“You’ll always come back to me.”
He grabbed her chin and took a large hit of some type of cigar and pulled her in close to his face. He pressed her cheeks together making her mouth open and blew a huge puff of smoke in her face.
“Perfect timing, you showing up.” He laughed as she coughed, “My crew just pulled up to the docks this afternoon looking for some fun tonight.” He gripped her tightly from behind.
“You can handle a little partying with us like old times right?” He growled in her ear, “That little incident got fixed up by the agency …right?” He curiously pried as his yellow/green reptile eyes locked in her gaze.
“Yeah…. Completely resolved.” Astrid laughed. “Got reprogrammed with new codes and triggers.”
“Oh really?” He hissed having a hint of suspicion in his voice, “Well that’s too bad… it was kind of fun hearing you had gone completely ape shit just because of a little office scientist.” he breathed heavily in her ear.
“Got me all excited seeing what I could have done with all that power if I had gotten the chance.” He chuckled as the velvet curtains around the booth moved to reveal his crew entering.
As the group of fellow shady looking aliens came in, his attention was completely taken by them as he slid Astrid off his lap to get up to say hello. Astrid knew it was going to be a long night so she took out a small bottle from her bag and chugged some more of the mystery liquor she had thrown in for this exact moment. The rest of the night was a blur again. Partying with hardened criminals, keeping up appearances and numbing the horrible discomfort she felt deep inside. But money was money. The agency only funded things that helped keep her cover. Like her apartment, food, car and gas on Earth. This made it so that she was limited in what she could do besides having a little bit of money being a teacher’s assistant.
She’d fetch drinks for the group and put up with them toying with her for entertainment. She didn’t dance that night but clearly they got plenty of entertainment by messing with her all night as they’d throw her tips and random jewelry they had definitely stolen on “jobs” they had gone on. After having too much of quite a few different substances, she quickly slipped away from the group. Stumbling through the club’s crowd and down a darkly lit hallway to the bathroom to hide. Being that heavily intoxicated normally meant some of them would end up getting belligerent and try making real passes at her. So she tried attempting another portal back to Earth. However sometimes her “magic” abilities (outside of shape shifting and the agency’s specific training) could get a little unpredictable. Especially when she was fucked up.
She started getting paranoid about being at the club again. The “incident” that got her in this “vacation” mess was actually partly because of an ex co worker from Cognito Inc. She started to panic and sob in the bathroom. And quickly threw up. As she muttered incoherently some spell like combination, a hole cracked open with bolts of electricity flying in and around the small bathroom. Clearly it was unstable. She continued to persist. Promising out loud to no one in particular that she’d sober up and do better next time. That she just needed a break. Just this once.
“Please. please. please work.” She breathlessly muttered as she started to slump against the bathroom wall.
“I know they are waiting out there for me like sharks.” She moaned looking in the direction of the locked door almost falling unconscious trying to grip onto the edges of the portal.
“Please just send me somewhere safe on Earth.” She said loudly trying to keep herself awake.
She just had to focus on a location… her mind wandered back to the nights she’d pass the Smith’s house on the way home from the bar. She thought about when Rick had grabbed her arm and shoved her through his portal.
“What a dick” she thought as she slipped out of consciousness and her body fell sideways through the quickly closing portal.
She shot through the Earth’s atmosphere like a comet. Little bits of electricity and burns appearing by her sides while slamming into someone’s front yard. She had been lucky it was in the dead of night when no one was around…. Well almost no one. Rick had been up late tinkering in the garage when he turned in the direction of a distant crash outside the house. He went to the dining room and looked out the large window to investigate. He spotted something crumpled up inside a crater that had now formed on the front lawn of the neighbor’s from across the street. He pulled his welding mask off and squinted to see in the dark. But no such luck, so he moved toward the front door wanting to find out what the mystery thing was. But as soon as he opened the front door and peered out, it was gone. He sighed and went back inside. He thought about how he could have sworn he saw something familiar..
Astrid had momentarily gained consciousness after being awoken by the impact. The first thing she saw in the dark was the faint glow from the Smith house and Rick’s silhouette in the dining room. Her mind instantly raced to not wanting Rick to get the upper hand. She refused to be perceived as weak. With the last of her strength she forced herself up on her feet. Stumbled a bit and attempted to run but instead hobbled over to a nearby fence. Lunging up over it and collapsed on the other side of the wood boards. After she heard the front door of the Smith house open, then close again, she disappeared into the neighborhood limping it off and huffing the cold night air. Astrid wasn’t going to let Rick Sanchez have the satisfaction of finding her a mess in his neighbor’s yard.

“- Do you at least love me?”
Yes, no, maybe. His voice remains trapped between his lips as they look at each other. Outside, the storm is still less intense than in their little apartment, and no one knows how it all got so out of hand. The silence seems to break the man in front of him and he opens his mouth, wanting to speak, to reassure him, to tell him that yes, fuck yes, he'd loved him so much he'd lost his mind, he'd lost his name. But nothing comes out, just a squeak, a strangely painful sound, nothing comes out, nothing passes and the second one looks at him, shaking his head painfully. A bolt of lightning bursts outside, and for a few seconds he wonders if what frightened him was the bright boom, or his tear-filled gaze. He'd told her, love was complicated, painful. Painful, he didn't like it, it was shaky, everything silly, he found disgusting. But he found even more disgusting her sad look, her watery eyes and her breath a little cut off, as if she were blowing. It was unsettling to remain silent and yet so expressive. He refuses her embrace, recoils as he moves forward and a hand passes over his face, anger, disappointment, the strange pain tangling in his throat. He wants to apologize, but nothing comes out. After all, if they'd come to this, it was partly because of him, partly because of the bitter feeling in his throat. His daily questioning of himself, of people, of life. It was painful, his head was spinning, he wanted to scream. Because, when we love so much, we always end up with this problem: we don't love each other very much and we yell at each other. We spit out our feelings clumsily and desperately, hoping the other person will understand and accept.
“- You can't even answer me.”
His voice cracked, low, slow, it made him vibrate to the depths of his being. Taller than him, more mature perhaps, despite their age difference, he feels like a child who's been refused playtime. Frustrated by his hypocritical childish behavior, it wasn't him who strutted around with everyone, always leaving him in the background and sticking to everyone but his own little self. It wasn't him either, spending hours cooped up in an office, frying his retinas on screens that spit his work in his face, while the other has fun, posting thousands of love messages to everyone but the main one. He didn't have the courage, no longer the courage to fight, he could tell her how beautiful, incredible and magnificent love was. For him, it was only pain, jealousy and contempt. He'd told her he was jealous, sickly jealous, but no, the other kept dancing, laughing, ignoring her. His arm moved, making the air whistle around them as he felt like screaming now, but nothing passed, nothing came out, how do you put three years of relationships on the table at once, without slamming it in the other's face. The feeling was stifling, the love was sickening, the feelings never mesh properly, it's cold and painful. People end up leaving, always, that's how it was, the human was stupid, it grabs you by the throat and hurts. He was no different, arguing and shouting wouldn't change anything. His insecurities spread out in front of him like a toxic viper, numbing his fingers, making his eyes sting as he felt himself slowly bursting. In his head, the storm seems unwilling to calm. How did they live loving as much as he did?
“- Are you crying? Seriously?”
Contempt, or what he takes to be contempt. He feels like raising his voice, telling her that, even if he was angry, he's still older. He owes her respect even if he's angry. But nothing's happened yet, and it's getting on his nerves, he wants to slam it, shake it off, stop being a simple victim in the middle of a dark kitchen. His lover glared at him, still waiting for a reaction, probably wondering why he'd wasted three years of his life, why he'd wasted his time with someone like him. It was true, why did people waste time on each other? It was easier to isolate yourself, to disappear, at least nobody could let you go, nobody could turn their back on you. It was always the most complicated, when you get attached, you take risks, when you take risks, you know what's going to happen in the end, disappointment, pain, sadness. A lot of negative feelings, so easy to stop when you're not attached to anyone. You can't betray yourself, you can't turn your back. We always live with ourselves, no matter what. Other people are evil, terrifying, but often so attractive. It was losing for him, he wanted to be caught by her avid eyes, her tender lips and that body too well built. But he was terrified of his own demons, of how pathetically much he loved. If he had to hold on to him so tightly that he felt like bursting every time he touched him, then he'd rather get scared, suffocate and tell himself he was going to leave. Because everyone would eventually tire of him, of his rotten temper and his disturbing way of breathing. Yet knowing this was one thing, accepting it was another. So he remained silent, weeping his bitterness and his desire for the other to stay. Because a storm was just wind and a big bang. It wouldn't last forever.
“- I-I'm sorry.”
His own voice sounds like a slap, like a deep scratch. A fingernail loses its way into his body, blows him away, bends him in two and he wants to vomit some more. His interlocutor looked up at him, towering over him, and it hit him right in the face. How long had it been since he'd looked at him the way they did? He'd grown in muscle, charm and something strange. His wobbly smile, superimposed on his tired eyes, made him even more handsome. And it took his breath away, as if he'd fallen in love all over again. His heart starts beating faster, harder. It takes him by the throat, drowns him, prevents him from thinking properly. He felt as if he'd wasted an entire life over a silly, trifling matter. The argument wasn't even clear any more, and they asked each other why they'd come to such a dramatic scene. It's all slow, cold, forced, the kind of bad, B-movie moment. The actors seem confused, waiting for the rest of the script to unfold a little more, a little better, but it's vague and we have to keep going. One step forward, one step back, their hearts bruise a little more each time. We can't make the storms go away with words, shouting won't change anything. It was deep, like a wave of uncertainty and disgust, rising in his throat like a strange bitterness as he felt the urge to speak, to get it all out. Then he'd think about what the consequences would be. Because, as he knew only too well, mute people think too much and talkative people not enough.
“What the hell do you want?! I.. If you don't tell me, then I can't know!
- That you love me, even a little. That would be a good start.”
Love, here we go again. His red hair looks soft in the light of the house, and when you look outside, the storm finally seems to die down, leaving only dripping rain and bruised flowers. He feels himself fading, it was always a love story, the crimes, the books, the music, a common thread surrounding a bubble from which no one ever seems to let go. Everyone talks about it, describes it, touches it, dreams about it, but in the end it's a strange feeling. We feel strange, we long for the other, to keep it for ourselves, to have it by our side. Sometimes we like it to death, other times we like it to kill ourselves. It was always somewhere, in or with us. And in the end, it went round in circles, we obviously loved the other, but at the same time, we were never convinced, we said to ourselves that maybe this wasn't love, and we shifted, we looked for it, before understanding when the other was about to leave that it was. It was indeed love, worse, a real feeling that makes us sick and makes us see glitter.
“- Yes. I love you Taehyung.”
This time, the red haired huffed, panting, seemingly trying to find a foothold, a balance, as the older man ran a hand through his own chestnut hair. It was strange, an atmosphere of uncertainty, lost between the argument on the front line and the desire to stop all debate and jump on it upstream. Time seemed to stand still, a flash of lightning thundering in the distance, as if to announce the end of the battle. They stood there like two idiots, staring at each other as if they'd never met. It was strange, all his doubts in one look seemed to have caught fire, it was no longer he who was shocked and shaken but Taehyung. He seemed to be searching for words, stammering, opening his mouth, closing it again. And he's enjoying it, gloating, feeling almighty at having turned the situation to his advantage. To hell with the argument, the discomfort, the desire to strangle him. He feels like shaking him, tapping him on the shoulder and shouting “yes, damn it, yes”. He loves him, with that strange feeling that makes us stupid, always happy, that makes us look like people from somewhere else. If Aliens exist, then they must be people in love, full of feelings that ordinary mortals can't understand. But he does nothing, leaving him to suffocate, to lose himself in his thoughts. A new hope gripped him by the throat, maybe it wouldn't be over, maybe he wasn't going to leave. In fact, he'd never fully thought about the possibility of the other staying, but saying it, hoping for it, wanting it with all his might, gave him the courage to approach. The burning of feelings, the skin under her fingers and the look in her eyes full of tears. Love makes you ugly when it's badly managed, but it was better to be ugly for two, it was easier to manage, less painful. He tasted of strawberries, he must taste of salt, it was all he needed, the strawberries, the salt, her hands against his hips, their bodies sticking together. It was like a pure drug you could never live without. Beautiful and dangerous at the same time, we didn't care because we knew that stopping wouldn't change the addiction anyway.
“- So prove it to me, don't just give me false promises and false hopes, Yoongi. Because I'll die if you don't love me like I love you.
- I can't promise to love you well. Because, you see, I'm wobbly. And full of doubt. But I'll try to love you better. Because, if you really were to leave me, I think I'd die.”
Finally, outside, the storm seemed to be nothing more than wet streaks on windows and cheeks. There was no right way to love, but there was a right way to keep. The proof, they would have years to show it. Even if, deep down, just by looking at each other, they knew there would be nothing left to prove.

Negative Three
-3) Something is so tender, so moving about seeing the youth fade from the faces of old friends. Because you see it instantaneously. It happens as soon as you lay your eyes on them, every time you lay your eyes on them again. D told me, the last time I saw him, that I look younger than I used to. I said, that's not true. That doesn't make any sense. But I'll take the compliment. And I offer this interpretation: "You'll never see me as the age I am. The second you see me your brain will overcorrect and convince you that I look the way we did when we were 26. And my brain does the same for you. I'll see you for a split second as the renown and respected professor that you are at 41, but then my brain will search for all the things I used to know about your face. And then that's what I see. That's all I see. We'll always see each other as 26 year olds no matter how old we are." I'm not even sure I believe that, but I did in that moment. Something about the autumn air, hot when it shouldn't have been. Something about the proximity of Halloween, about the costumed young people crowding the sidewalks and spilling out from bars. This is the place were young people come to be young. This is the place that old people haunt to relive their youth.
We were wandering around lower Manhattan as dusk transitioned into night. We were deciding where to go. D said, "I know where to take you. I know what you like." Funny the things people remember about you that you don't remember about yourself. As D would have it, I like overpriced cocktail bars with hand cut Belgian pommes frites. It's true, there was a version of me that liked those things. Likes these things. I just haven't been in touch with her in a while. D texted me earlier that day that I should meet him outside a candle shop in Chinatown, and when I showed up he was wearing a tank top and court jester sweatpants. Maybe I see D as a 26 year old because he's regressing. Because when we were 26 he was living like a staid middle aged man, and now that we're over 40 he's doused himself in Gen Z style rizz. He had just been through a protracted and nasty break up. The second to last time I saw him before this one, he had suffered the first major blow to that dying relationship. She had refused his proposal. He asked me then, "Am I hard to date?" I paused. "Yeah, of course you are. So am I. Obviously. We're messed up people, D. Who on earth can actually handle our out of control levels of baggage? All of us, our mutual friends, the people we spent our late 20s with. Super hard to date." It wasn't the soothing response I should have issued. But he knew who he was asking. The broken me sees the broken you, D. Let's not kid around.
The night I saw him in Manhattan, almost a year after that brutally honest conversation, as we waded through throngs of NYU students dressed up for Halloween parties across the city, I kept flagging down different groups to yell the names of their characters at them. Lemme guess! Uma Therman in Pulp fiction? Kermit? Jasmin from Aladdin? I made D stop in a park and watch an open-air ballroom dance class. All the couples were East Asian and in their 70s, at least. I mused at D, "It's beautiful, isn't it?" He said he never even noticed the dancers before. I got more and more loose lipped as the night wore on. D and I talked about dead parents, about anger at God, about praying without faith, about teaching Marx to idiot 19 year olds, about the books we are writing, about the books we didn't write, about how we thought we'd both be married with kids by now. When we met we were both in life scenarios in which that seemed like the only possibility. It didn't play out that way.
In a romantic comedy, we would have locked eyes with each other over hand cut pommes frites, thunderstruck by the realization that the answer to all of our problems was right there, at the other side of the table. But what could be more loving than never entertaining that option? It's not the answer. It never was. And we are too much in our 40s to think otherwise. D tells me he had a whirlwind romance with a very famous and very married novelist during his latest trip to West Africa. She is sexy and sixty. She was coming to visit him next week. D seemed very disappointed that I did not recognize the name of this famous novelist. I told him I was thrilled for him, I told him I was so happy he had had that moment of joy and adventure. I told him those things while utterly convinced it was all a terrible and disastrous plan. The difference between now and 15 years ago is that I could hold both thoughts in my head equally and believe both to be true. It's stupid how judgmental you are when you have so much future ahead of you. The "no"s always beating out the "yes"s because you naively believe in your own wisdom, that your abundance of caution will pay off somehow. The tyranny of insecurity and inexperience masquerading as preternatural maturity. Understand that when I say "you" I just mean "me." The proverbial "you" at 26 was probably drunkenly hooking up and eating stoned pizza at 2 am while I was pretending to sleep and cursing my life.
Getting older is being liberated from hypotheticals and worst case scenarios. A lot of them have been played out. We know how some of the stories will end. Which allows me to say, as D details what was sordid and what was exhilarating about his recent affair: "Whatever makes you happy, D. Are you happy? That's all that matters." And I mean it. He says yes, I'm happy. And he means it, too. Getting older is believing him when he tells me he's happy while at the same time knowing that he is deeply miserable. Both can be true. That is hard-won knowledge.
Isn't it quite something to know your friends for so many years, to love them for the messes they were, to love them for all their attempts to clean up, to love them for the new messes they become. To see the lines on their face, the grays in their hair, to be able to conjure up the lineless, grayless version of them in your mind instantaneously. To see them sitting in front of you in every incarnation, eyes dancing while they relate their latest youthful folly. Elated because in truth it was not foolish. Nor was it youthful. It was defiant. It was a fist shaken at mortality. You can't catch me, D is shouting at death, clad in tank top and jester sweats. And I am cheering him on, clapping at the valiant assay. Because I know, as D does, that the mad dash to escape one's fate is a ruse. Death is not chasing us, D. It doesn't have to. We'll run out of breath soon enough. That's the beauty of it, isn't it? You get to give up at some point. You earn the privilege to.
And this is why, now that we're both old and young at once, I'll never have to say out loud to D, "I love you with all my heart, openly and forever. I don't want a single thing from you. I just want to know you exist, and that you've existed, and that is all. I just want to know that you know I exist. And that every so often, we will exist together on the same plane. The same wavelength. Every version of us that has ever existed. We'll all exist together. Until we don't." I don't say it, but I trust it is understood anyway. What a wonderful thing to know when it's time to end the night, to bid farewell to your old friend, to squeeze them extra hard because you're a little too tipsy and sentimental when you leave them. To imagine the next time you will see them. Face more etched, head more silver. Young as ever. Forever 26.

Modern Life [Inuyasha]
Tumblr media
Sesshomaru, Inuyasha, Bankotsu, Naraku, Kikyo
C|TW: none
Tumblr media
SESSHOMARU
Sesshomaru comes from a wealthy family that held a high status in Japan. While he wasn’t spoiled rotten by his parents, Sesshomaru wanted nothing. His mother, Chiyo, allowed him to partake in any hobby that caught his interest and do what he pleases as long as he wasn’t reckless. He was happy until his father started cheating and it ruined his life.
Sesshomaru would hear his parents arguing and yelling the most heinous things. They’d no longer pay him any attention, too occupied with each other. He thought they’d quit bickering if he excelled in his hobbies. But none of his black belts, ballet roles, piano performances, or cooking feats caught their attention. Shocking no one, Sesshomaru grew bitter towards his father and the mystery family he had.
Now as an adult, Sesshomaru was given three-hundred twenty-five million dollars and some land by his father. Since Tōga refused to give him full control of the family business, Sesshomaru decided to start his own. He didn’t want to be associated with Inuyasha or Izayoi in any way. Thanks to Chiyo, Sesshomaru was able to create a successful business that didn’t revolve around criminal activity and increased his wealth. Soon, he’d have an empire. That doesn’t mean he’s not going to leave an impression on the underworld, just in case they get any ideas.
Tumblr media
INUYASHA
Inuyasha comes from nothing and was raised by his single mother. Due to Izayoi’s pregnancy out of wedlock, she lost her high status and was exiled. They didn’t have much but his mother still managed to spoil him rotten with love and attention. She’d set aside money to buy him toys and treat him with nice things so he didn’t feel like he was missing out. The two of them were content even before Tōga came back into their lives.
When Tōga decided to have a life with the two of them, Inuyasha was elated! He finally had his father and his mom was happier now that he was around. Tōga went overboard giving Inuyasha whatever he wanted, always buying him more toys than he can play with and letting him do as he pleased regardless of his actions. Because of Tōga’s status Izayoi regained her noble status and Inuyasha was treated highly as well.
Now an adult, Inuyasha inherited the family business from Tōga! He’s more than confident that he has what it takes to run it but he lacks the necessary skills and knowledge to do so. Hence why Tōga expected Sesshomaru to help Inuyasha. Since his brother decided to work against him, Inuyasha was left to figure things out as he went. It was frustrating trying to learn every aspect of the criminal organization and what it entailed on spot, Tōga had no choice but to delay his retirement until Inuyasha was comfortable running the business alone.
Tumblr media
BANKOTSU
Bankotsu grew up with his family very briefly before running off to have a life of his own. He wanted to find his passion and explore the world outside of his city. Along the way, Bankotsu had run into trouble plenty of times, usually running off before things would get worse. One particular occasion helped him discover his love of fighting. Having beaten a man, nearly to death, after being accused of cheating in a bet he felt a special high.
It soon led to him starting fights and challenging people to see if he’d come out on top. Once Bankotsu caught the eye of shady rich people it wasn’t long before he started taking contracts. Willing to beat anyone without hesitation no matter their age or gender, wanting nothing more than to fight someone. Although he was on track to becoming the most feared mercenary, Bankotsu was able to meet Jakotsu, who became a brother to him.
He’s currently the leader of the Shichinintai, the most lethal mercenaries in Japan. He’s acquired a vast amount of wealth but not status given that he’s feared by most, if not all, the nobles that hire him. They love to remind him that he’s only a pawn in their game but Bankotsu knows his worth since everyone fears him.
Tumblr media
NARAKU
Naraku is from a middle-class family. They weren’t really notable, just another family. What set Naraku apart was his determination to rule the underworld. He didn’t want to work for someone and he didn’t want to waste his time at college either. He wanted money and power immediately. Using underhanded methods, Naraku created his own criminal organization. His charisma and manipulative tendencies were all it took turn most against each other, spreading death and betrayal.
He managed to scheme his way to the top of the criminal world but gained multiple enemies waiting to get revenge. That doesn’t bother Naraku one bit since he collected a vast amount of resources and wealth. Not to mention the political figures he has in his pocket. The last thing Naraku is worried about is some lowly gang trying to murder him. He can sleep just fine in his mansion fit for a king, knowing he pissed off a lot of dangerous people.
In order to expand his business, Naraku plotted to have Kikyo murdered considering she was the pesky special agent that managed to arrest a handful of his members. She was also the one to uncover his plans seemingly one step behind him, giving him no chance to get from under the FBI’s radar. So learning that the government’s favorite special agent was in love with Inuyasha, was enough to ruin her career and get her off of his scent. Though that didn’t stop Naraku from staging a horrific incident that left Kikyo in a coma for three weeks.

KIKYO
Kikyo was an ordinary girl that had a pretty humble life, she was the oldest sibling that was left to care for her sister since her parents passed. The town they lived in wasn’t the worst, the community was kind and looked out for each other. What made life difficult was the violence committed by upcoming gangs. Often stealing from the community, beating up civilians to get accepted into groups, peddling drugs to teens, and recruiting them.
That’s why Kikyo was determined to become a police officer. She wanted to protect her community and give them a sense of security after years of being surrounded by violence. She became one of the best officers on staff but was later switched over to the federal bureaucracy of investigation. Kikyo’s skills and intellect were best suited for monitoring organized criminal and domestic terrorism. She was on track to being a renowned agent for her success in toppling long-standing empires and decreasing the number of gangs, drug lords, and traffickers.
As she studied Inuyasha, the current head of a notorious criminal family, Kikyo’s distaste for him slowly became a crush. She’d go on dates with him under the guise of getting information out of him or end up having casual conversations that’d lead to tranquil walks around the park. Her emotions began to cloud her judgment, giving Naraku the perfect opportunity to get rid of her and that nuisance Inuyasha. It was wildly inappropriate to be falling in love with a gang leader which is why a swift termination followed shortly after their secret relationship was exposed.
Kikyo accepted it with grace and didn’t fight against the accusations since it was the truth. Before she could return to her regular life Naraku sent some goons to crash her car off a bridge, the injuries left her comatose for nearly four weeks. By the time she awakened Inuyasha was imprisoned for going on a rampage after news of her car crash. Not wanting to let her love for him ruin her life, Kikyo decided to move on and focus on finding a new career that’d suit her.

oikawa is a handsome man, there’s no denying it. he might be twice your age but his trademark charm never fails to lure you in. too bad he’s your dad’s best friend
+ pairing. oikawa t. / fem reader
+ word c. 2,730
+ warnings. age gap, alcohol, mild degradation, mindbreak, noncon filming, squirting, watersports, mating press, one (1) slap in the ass, u call him uncle but he isn’t, so pseudo-cest? no beta we die like men
+ author n. my piece for the miki mouse whorehouse collab ♡ three weeks late, yes
Tumblr media
the mid-afternoon sun burns above you, your exposed skin glowing under its blaze as you try to ignore the bickering of your dad’s friends.
oikawa’s playlist blasts through the speakers, the one with latin songs and that he’s been listening to since he went to argentina (according to uncle makki). you hum along with the beat unconsciously, so close to dozing off that you miss the sound of the approaching steps.
“a drink for the princess.”
flirty brown eyes meet yours through the tinted glass of your sunglasses, his handsome smile making your heart skip as you sit up and take the cold drink from his hands.
oikawa takes the seat next to you, handing his phone over to you to let you choose the next song. his fingers trace the rim of his beer bottle as he watches you type something on the screen before leaning back against the chair.
“my dad will yell at you for giving me alcohol,” you peer up at him, taking the straw between your lips.
he takes a long sip of his beer in hopes of calming down the myriad of thoughts swirling in his mind. it’s sinful how the wet fabric of your swimsuit clings onto your form while you lie under the sun—unbothered. but it’s even worse how the star of those thoughts it’s his best friend’s daughter.
“you’re an adult, you’re allowed to have fun.”
you scoff, “tell him that.”
iwaizumi has never been a strict parent but he likes to play the overprotective dad role every once in a while.
“he’s your dad. it’s kind of his job,” he tilts his head in his friend’s direction, his stare serious before switching into a playful one, “and mine is to be the cool uncle.”
you can’t help but snort, “who said you were cool?”
oikawa fake gasps at your statement, but his posture immediately tenses up as uneasiness takes over his body.
he doesn’t have an idea when it all started, or when did the playful banter between you two turned into this unbearable sexual tension. many nights he has been haunted in his dreams by your cute but taunting smile, poking fun at him until his lips land on yours, and kissing you until you’re reduced to a pathetic whimpering mess.
“–kawa you asshole!”
hanamaki’s voice snaps him out of his trance, both of your heads turning to look at said man as he scolds matsukawa for spilling his drink on the table.
“don’t stay under the sun for too long,” oikawa suddenly stands up, shooting you a forced smirk, “or you’ll get wrinkles.”
you stick your tongue out at him and watch him walk away, staring at his back while a silly smile settles on your lips.
the sun has already set when you make your way inside.
you ignore the two drunk men passed out on the couch as you look around for your dad, but when you fail to catch sight of him, you decide to take a look in the kitchen.
oikawa’s shirtless back greets you, his muscles bulging under his tanned skin as he seems to be struggling with a bottle of wine.
“you’re doing it wrong.”
he immediately halts his movements and turns to look at you, “i’m sorry?”
you smirk, “you’re forgiven.”
he scoffs at your little joke, but when you see the hint of a smirk tugging his lips upwards you know he’s enjoying it as much as you are. with a push of your hips, you shove him aside and grab the corkscrew from his hands.
“this, is how you do it.”
he leans on the kitchen counter with his elbow as he observes you do your thing, “you’re being too awfully cocky lately.”
“not my fault you can’t open a wine bottle the right way,” you shrug before smiling triumphantly once it's open, taking a swig of the bottle.
it’s probably the way your eyes gleam under the dim lights, or how your lips look plump and glossy after drinking the wine. either way, the words leave oikawa’s mouth before he can think twice.
“oh? care to tell me what else i don’t do the right way?”
you watch as he takes the bottle from your hands and takes a sip, “you’d be surprised. i know more than what you may think.”
“i doubt it.”
“try me.”
the words hang in the air, the hidden meaning begging to be addressed but you stare at each other in silence, your chests heaving up as you wait for the other to make a move.
“do you know what’s been on my mind lately?” he’s the first one to break the silence, his figure looming above you while his hand moves to rest on your hip.
your breath hitches as you shake your head. gone is the playful gleam in your eyes, his stare feeling as if he’s a predator and you the helpless prey.
“you.”
he pauses, gauging your reaction while you feel your heart pounding wildly in your chest.
“oi!”
you both jump at the sound of your dad’s voice. iwaizumi stands behind you with his car keys on hand, exhaustion evident in his posture.
“they’re hammered, i’m going to drive them home. you need a ride?”
the question’s directed at oikawa, who’s suddenly feeling like a deer caught in the headlights.
did he see anything? he wonders. but the tired look in his best friend’s face lets him know he doesn’t suspect a thing.
“nah, i’m good,” the odd look iwaizumi sends his way prompts him to come up with an excuse, “i’ll clean up and then i’ll be on my way out.”
on a normal day, iwaizumi would’ve refused. but if he could escape your mom’s wrath after the mess they made, then he’d take it in a heartbeat. good thing she’s out on her casino night.
“thanks, man. see you around.”
you both watch as he exits the kitchen, the tense atmosphere remaining even after hearing the front door close behind the three men.
you can’t help but deflate a bit, sensing the ‘moment’ between you is gone.
“where were we?”
your eyes widen and refuse to meet his, choosing to fiddle with your fingers as you repeat what he said earlier in a small voice, “you said… you said you were thinking of me.”
oikawa has to stop himself from cooing at your nervousness, humming instead as he takes one step in your direction.
“mhm, all day,” his hands snake around your waist to pull you flush against him, “i’ve been thinking about fucking you.”
a small gasp leaves your mouth, a satisfied smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.
“you enjoyed teasing me, didn’t you? parading around in that slutty swimsuit of yours with your tits spilling out of your bra?”
he hauls you up by your waist and places you on the granite counter, settling himself between your legs, “i could see your nipples getting hard, begging to be kissed,” one of his hands leaves your waist and moves upwards to pinch your nipple. he can’t help but coo at the faint whimper that escapes your lips, “hmm, so cute.”
oikawa’s lips connect with yours, his other hand holding you by the back of your head while the other keeps rubbing the hardened nub. once his tongue glides into your mouth, breathless moans fill the kitchen.
“a-ah, uncle tooru,” you run your fingers through his hair, pulling him closer.
he starts to make his way down, kissing your neck and collarbone before he reaches your chest. his teeth graze your hard nipple, toying with it while a large hand moves down between your legs and pushes the fabric covering your pussy aside.
two long fingers prod between your folds, sliding in easily and making you groan.
“naughty girl, so wet already,” he rasps in your ear, throat dry at the sight of your wet folds.
the wetness dripping from your hole immediately coats his digits, making it easier for him to tease your insides. the pads of his index and middle fingers curl upwards to touch the soft walls, massaging them in slow movements.
“mm, fuck–” it’s exhilarating how good he’s making you feel just with his fingers, pulling moans so effortlessly out of you.
“feels good, hm?”
“yes, yes, so so good–” your head falls limp against his shoulder, your hands resting on his biceps as you try to hold onto something, “please… faster.”
the pace of his hand picks up while his thumb brushes over your clit, watching you lose yourself in the pleasure. his cock hardens at the filthy sounds of your pussy sucking his fingers in and your wanton moans.
“so needy,” he murmurs, a breathless chuckle falling right in your ear, “be a doll and cum for me. will you? c’mon, baby. i know you can do it.”
your grip on his shoulders tightens, his encouraging words awakening something in you that has you cumming right after. warmth floods your body as you chant his name desperately, the friction of his finger against your clit prolonging your high and making it difficult to catch your breath.
it takes you a minute to recover from the daze, his body-heat overwhelming you and fogging up your mind.
it’s not until he takes his fingers out of your dripping core and has a taste of your juices when he truly feels the lust take over him.
oikawa immediately picks you up from the kitchen counter, your legs wrapping around his torso as he blindly makes his way to your room.
his mouth moves hungrily against yours, your bodies occasionally colliding against the walls since you refuse to let go of each other. once you reach your bedroom, he pushes the door open and places you on the bed, climbing on top of you and latching his mouth onto your neck.
“baby, i need to– hmm,” the roll of your hips against his front causes his cock to twitch in his shorts, “need to fuck you.”
your eyes close when he moves your bra down and starts sucking on your nipple, one of your hands tangling in his hair and pushing his face onto your chest.
“want you so badly, please.”
“don’t worry, princess. i’ll make you cum again, so many times, and fill your needy cunt with my cum,” he murmurs against your chest, his tongue gliding over the sensitive skin while he rolls his hips against your core, “you’re gonna be a good little slut for me, right? bounce on my cock like a bitch in heat?”
you have never heard something so filthy leave his mouth, the promise of another orgasm sending a jolt down to your center.
“y-yes, i’ll do whatever you want! just please, fuck me.”
“yes, what?” his eyes glint with malice as he looks down at you, waiting for you to reply.
“yes... sir.”
a captivating smile graces his lips as he moves up from your chest to your face, his mouth hovering right above yours, “good girl.”
before you can process his words, he flips you on top of him, his hands going straight to your ass and squeezing the flesh. you notice the hardness underneath you and you have to stop yourself from bucking your hips against it.
with a tap on your butt, he signals you to lift your hips, taking off his shorts and turning to the side to place them somewhere. but in your drunken state, all you can focus on is on the cock in front of you, the flushed head glistening with pre-cum and causing your mouth to water.
he’s turning around when you wrap a hand around his girth, making him jolt under you before you lift your eyes to stare back at him.
“patience, baby. i’m not going anywhere,” he chuckles at the same time you rub his cock between your folds. his eyes stare intensely at you, watching you coat him with your juices before aligning him with your hole, “shit, i wish i could watch you like this forever.”
“you can have me whenever you want, sir. i’m yours.”
his cock parts your lower lips as you start sinking down, the vein on the underside of his shaft rubbing deliciously against your walls until he’s bottoming out. his hands rest on your hips, letting you get used to the stretch before he starts to rock you back and forth, slowly.
“feels so good… m-more.”
strong arms wrap around your waist, bringing your torso down until your breasts are pressed against his chest. his thrusts become intense, making you squeal as his laugh reverberates in his chest. he slaps your ass with one hand, groaning when your walls clamp down around him.
“tightest cunt i’ve ever fucked,” he groans.
“h-harder, fuck me harder,” you plead and, in a matter of seconds, he’s ramming his cock into you just like you asked. the friction of his length against your insides makes you dizzy, your mind wandering to how would it feel to be filled with his seed, “god– ugh, want your cum.”
“hm? my pretty little cumslut wants to milk me dry?”
he pushes you up as he slows down his pace, whines leaving your mouth in frustration. oikawa helps you bounce on top of him, his pelvic bone brushing against your swollen clit which causes your orgasm to approach faster than expected.
“‘m so close,” your rhythm falters, hips moving back and forth desperately in search of that delicious friction, “gonna cum, sir. please, make me cum.”
oikawa’s grip on your hips tightens, one of his hands moving down to your clit and rubbing it in fast circles, “shit– so tight,” he moans when you clench your muscles around his cock, feeling it twitch inside of you, “fuck, fuck, i’m cumming!”
he barely manages to rasp out before warm spurts of cum paint your walls, his cock throbbing against them while he keeps moving in and out of your hole. you follow suit, your pussy trembling around him as you both ride out your orgasms.
his cock visibly twitches once it's out of your cunt, lying flat on his stomach while white cum slowly drips on top of it. spreading your asscheeks, he stares at your glistening cunt and watches your juices coat him before flipping you onto your back. his entire weight rests on top of you, caging you in a mating press and entering your raw walls again.
“s-sir, no more! ‘m too sensitive– ah,” your legs are shaking at the overstimulation, his cock reaching so deep that you can feel it nudging at your cervix.
he grunts as he keeps thrusting into you, his balls slapping against your ass while you try to fight him, “one more, baby.”
“i-i can’t! no, no, no, please...” your nails dig in his muscles, a futile attempt to get him to slow down.
the slapping of skin on skin is loud, your cries encouraging him to drill harder into your pussy until he’s flooding it with his thick cum.
“shit, princess. of course you can. isn’t this what you wanted? you’re such a slut for me, i’ve known it all this time.”
you know you want to cum, but another tingling feeling settles on your belly and, after a perfectly directed thrust from his part, you gush around his cock.
“holy shit.”
everything seems to stop around you, drooling and babbling nonsense as you’re sent into a high that leaves your mind floating, your body growing limp under oikawa as he continues to fuck your hole until he’s filling it again.
the euphoria stops you from noticing when he pulls out, also missing how he remains above you with his softening cock in hand and pumping it slowly. a groan escapes your mouth when a sudden warmth soaks your sweaty skin, making you close your eyes and bask in it.
“fuck, baby,” he angles his cock in your direction, allowing his piss to pour down onto your ruined pussy and down your bedsheets, “look at you, my pretty little slut.
your craving for him was so powerful that you failed to notice the phone standing on your bedside table, angled directly at you. even when familiar moans blare through its speakers after oikawa picks it up, smiling down at it as he readies himself to enter you once more.

PLEASE DO LER BOB AND LEE SKID AND PUMP!
So Bob is babysitting the two troublesome kids cuz Lila had some work to do and she started trusting Bob. The kids where misbehaving out of boredom and he had enough but instead of timeout he tickles them!
Tumblr media
Alright I get it /lh /nm
Ler Bob, Lees Skid and Pump
Warning: mentions of cannibalism, blood consumption
Word count: 1440
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Alright, Skid, Pump, I’ll be home soon. Bob, please, keep an eye on them. They’ve traumatized enough people for the year, they don’t need to be doing any more damage,” Lila told the three boys.
Pump had come over for a sleepover just before Lila had to leave for work, leaving her to find a last-minute babysitter. Thankfully, Bob Velseb, a man she’d known and trusted since she was her son’s age, had popped in to check up on her at just the right moment.
“Don’t you worry, I’ll keep an eye on these lil’ goobers,” he assured her, patting the tops of the kid’s heads.
“Good, and one more thing…” she suddenly pulled him down by the collar of his sweater, staring him dead in the eyes. “Don’t you dare feed these two human meat again.”
His warm smile turned to a stone-cold, almost emotionless expression, save for a bit of anger gleaming in his eyes.
“I got no idea what you’re talkin’ about,” he growled back, lying and they both knew it, but she didn’t have time to address it now. All she could do was hope he listened, and be grateful he refused to target the kids.
She let him go and stepped out, waving to the three as she did. Bob’s smile returned as quickly as it had left, waving back as the door closed behind her.
“Now, who wants to help ol’ Bob make some cookies?” he asked, turning to the smol kids, who quickly jumped up with the repeated yell of “Me! Me! Me!”
In the kitchen, and gathering ingredients for the delicious treats, Bob began to set everything out.
“Did you know, blood can be used as a substitute for eggs in baking?” he told the boys as he pulled out a water bottle, filled nearly to the brim with a bright red liquid that the two could only assume was blood. He carefully measured it into a measuring cup and added it to the dough, mixing thoroughly until it had little more than a reddish tint.
“Woahhhh, that’s so cool!” Pump crowed as Bob showed them.
“We’re making blood cookies!” Skid cheered.
Bob chuckled at the two’s enthusiasm as he began scooping the cookie dough onto the baking sheet.
“Why yes, I suppose we are.”
After sticking the cookies in the oven, the three came out to the living room, Bob putting on a horror movie while they waited for the cookies to bake.
“Bob?” Skid eventually piped up, turning from his spot on the floor to look at the man on the couch.
“What’s up, kiddo?”
“Do you like the Spooky Month? Mom says you might not like it, since it gives you bad memories… but that’s not a reason to not like it, right?”
Bob’s face fell for a moment before forcing a warm smile back onto it. Don’t be a sad bastard in front of the kids.
“Nah, I like Spooky Month just the same as everyone else in this town. I ain’t special in that,” he assured the skeleton-clad boy with a small head pat.
“Good, because I love the Spooky Month! It’s the best month in the whole year, because we get to dress up, and get candy, and see all our friends! Outside of school!” he droned on excitedly, Pump catching on and popping up beside him.
“Plus the stores start filling up with pumpkin-flavored things, like pumpkin pie, and pumpkin cookies, and pumpkins! And we get to do the spooky dance!” he added, practically fizzing with the same energy and enthusiasm as his best friend.
“That’s-”
Suddenly the oven dinged, cutting off Bob’s response, making him get up.
“Hold that thought, kids,” he told the two as he headed into the kitchen to get the cookies.
Skid slumped down onto the floor, crossing his arms and huffing angrily.
“I wanted to show him the spooky dance!” he whined, mad at the oven for going off ‘too soon.’
“So did I…” Pump mumbled, sitting beside him. Suddenly, like a switch, an idea lit up in his brain and he turned to Skid, only to see him looking back. They’d had the same idea at the same time, and what a fun idea it was.
~~
Bob hummed quietly as he took the cookies out of the oven, setting them on the stovetop above. The smell filled the air and made his stomach growl, and it took every little bit of willpower he had not to eat one now and burn the shit out of his mouth. Instead, he turned to the mess of a kitchen he had neglected to clean up earlier and sighed, deciding now was as good a time as any to get it done.
After about 15 minutes of cleaning up, he turned to put away the last item, the whisk. However, there was one minor little problem.
Where the fuck did it go?
The whisk had disappeared, leaving Bob a confused man standing in a clean kitchen as he searched around where he’d left it. It hadn’t rolled off the counter, or been put away already, or tossed in the sink filled with soapy water. It wasn’t on the table nor under it, and it hadn’t found its way into the cabinets. So where was it?
Suddenly, he heard giggling. Faint, but it was definitely there.
Did they take it? he asked himself as he followed the sound, until, sure enough, he saw the two hiding on the couch, Pump holding the whisk tightly in his hands. A small smirk crossed his face as an idea bloomed in his mind, and he crept silently towards the couch, keeping his mouth shut until…
“WHAT’RE YOU DOIN’?!” he bellowed as he scooped them both up from behind the couch, eliciting spooked but delighted squeals from them both as they were lifted into the air before it was squeals of laughter as Bob easily tickled each belly with one hand.
“Did you two lil goobers really think I wouldn’t notice you’d taken the one thing I hadn’t put away yet?”
“Ihihi dihihidn’t tahahake ihihit!” Skid protested, attempting to curl up around Bob’s hand.
“IHIT WAHAHAS YOUHUHUHUR IDEAHAHAHA!!” Pump squealed out, obviously far more affected by the tickles.
“Ihit was nohohot!”
“Now, now, no more arguin’. How about you both agree ya messed up and give me that whisk back so I can clean it off? Then we can have some nice, warm cookies.”
“Nohohoho!” “NEHEHEVEHER!!”
“Suit yourselves, guess I gotta use the ol’ persuasion method.”
Suddenly, he plopped down onto the couch, pinning Pump to it with one hand and squeezing at his side, making his cackles die down to giggles, while holding Skid up in his other arm his hand poised at the ribs, making him stuck in the giggles he was in before purely out of anticipation.
“Now, Pump, you can either give me back the whisk now, and I’ll stop ticklin’ you, or, keep it, and your little friend gets it~”
“Gehe- gehets whahahat?” he asked out of sheer curiosity. He knew Skid could handle a lot, so he wanted to see what Bob thought could break his bestie.
Bob merely smirked before he started blowing raspberries on one side of Skid’s ribs, his hand scribbling over the other side, causing Skid to squeal and cackle at the mismatched and maddening sensations.
“PUHUHUMP! GIHIVE IHIT TOHOHO HIHIHIM!! GIHIVE IHIT BAHAHACK!!”
“Whahat hahahappehened toho neheveheher suhurrehehendeher?”
“SUHUHURREHEHENDEHEHER!! SURREHEHENDEHEHER!!”
And, sure enough, Bob felt something small smack into his leg, a single look revealing it was the wire whisk the two boys had made off with, and he released the two from their ticklish captivity. Grabbing the whisk, he left the two alone on the couch to cuddle up and regain their composure as he was finally able to clean and put away the utensil. Soon enough, he returned to two little cuddlebugs on the couch, plate of cookies in hand, and settled down beside them.
“Cookie?” he offered to them, lowering the plate so they could each take some, before grabbing one of his own and biting into it.
“Blehhh, it tastes like metal!” Skid complained.
“It’s like sucking on a penny,” Pump agreed, Bob merely rolling his eyes at their dramatics.
“Oh, quit your whinin. Tastes good to me…” he mumbled, munching yet another cookie. It tasted just enough like blood to him to keep him satiated enough to not kill the kids, not that he could ever bring himself to. There was just something about these kids, he could never hurt them. Like some kind of weird vibe to them.
Weird kids.

“You’re not my real mom !” - Batkids x Fem!Reader (Batmom)
Synopsis : A story about those few dreaded words : “You’re not my real mom”, said by the batkids, to you, in a the heat of a moment. And the aftermath of it all...
This has been in my draft for ages. I hope you like it :) :
my masterlists : @ella-ravenwood-archives
__________________________________________________
DICK
It happened so fast. In a quick moment of anger.
A flash, a bang, words said too quickly to truly realize their meaning.
Dick was frustrated because he felt you didn’t understand him, his point of view. And you were trying to explain to him that it was not okay to...
You know what ?
You couldn’t even remember what he did. As if whatever it was, it was all wiped out of your memory when he pronounced those bone chilling words.
You only remembered you were “scolding” him, just like parents do when their child did something he wasn’t supposed to. You rarely told Dick off, even when he would burst into fits of anger.
You always told him : “When you came into my life, you changed everything. And I love all of you little bird. Not just when you’re joking around and smiling. But also when you get angry, and lash out. You are my son, I love all of you.”
And you meant it. Often, you or Bruce would take the brunt of his anger, without batting an eye. After all, that child went through a lot. It was totally normal for him to lash out at times.
He saw his parents died right in front of him. It wasn’t a trauma that would be solved that fast (Bruce was proof of it). “The magic of love” couldn't simply cure someone who was so deeply hurt. Although it helped, over time.
Yes. Time.
It would take time, and support, for Dick to heal. And you were here for it. Here for him.
But there were times, you had to say something.
Usually, it was when he was being too reckless.
Your son could be overzealous, and go too far. And you were so worried about his safety and wellbeing...Very rarely, you’d have to “scold” him.
And you couldn’t even remember what you were lecturing him about that evening (even if you had an idea it was about being a little more careful). All you remembered was...
“You’re not even my real mom ! You can’t tell me anything !”
And him turning away from you, crossing his arms and refusing to look your way. Which was good anyway, because you were an instant mess.
“Ok”, you managed to say, wondering how the hell you were able to get the words out. And then you left. Feeling the tears welling up in your eyes. And your heart slowly breaking.
Bruce found you two later, both clearly feeling down...
Dick stayed quiet the entire time they were on patrol, and Bruce instantly knew something was wrong. He wasn’t there during your fight, and he only arrived when you were already gone, surprised that you went to bed so early in the night, and didn’t stay with your son downstairs until it was time for patrol...
The man didn’t push the boy, waiting for him to open up if he wanted to. And as usual, Dick did finally speak up. In a weak voice, as they were surveying the city from a rooftop, he said :
“I told her she wasn’t my real mom...”
“Ah.”
Bruce felt the urge to go back home and console you, knowing that you were certainly a mess, right now. But he had to take care of his boy, too.
And oh, oh Dick looked so crestfallen and sad as the meaning of his words slowly etched into his mind.
“I told her she wasn’t-she wasn’t-but she is I just-I-I don’t know why I said that-I...”
The little one was on the verge of tears, and Bruce understood why.
He probably understood more than anyone else.
He told Alfred “You’re not my dad !” more than once, and remembered how even the stoic butler looked, whenever he said it.
He remembered the hurt in his eyes, the resignation too. The “very well sir”, said in a neutral manner, but the stiff way he’d left the room.
It took Bruce a while, to finally realize that Alfred WAS his father. That he raised him, most definitely. And was always there for him during the hard times.
That he even helped and supported him, when he came back after disappearing for years, saying : “I’m going to dress up as a bat and wipe crimes from Gotham”. ...How many parents would be that understanding, eh ?
Alfred knew Bruce. And always tried to do his best for him. So whenever Bruce would yell at him that he “wasn’t his father”, it hurt.
Bruce knew it. He noticed how Alfred’s entire demeanor would change. He’d see a light go out in his eyes.
“Very well, sir.”, a small bow, and the stiffness of his body as he left...
And Bruce remembered.
The guilt and the pain he felt himself, as he regretted ever saying those words. As he knew they were going to hurt, which is why he said them in the first place.
It wasn’t that he wanted to hurt his adopted father, oh no. It was that sometimes he just...He just felt so angry ! Like everything was unfair ! And he missed his parents so much !
It was a force stronger than him, he wanted Alfred to leave him alone, and pushed him away...”You’re not my dad !”. So yes. Bruce understood little Dickie. He understood you, too. He knew how you must’ve felt, he saw it enough happening to Alfred.
Once you’d get home, he would take care of you. But right now, he had to care for his son.
Right here, on one of Gotham’s rooftop, the scary and mighty Batman slowly kneeled down, and took his boy in his arms, holding him tightly.
Dick didn’t need more to throw his arms around his father’s shoulders, and hold him strongly too, with all his nine years old strength, sobbing slowly.
Bruce drew soothing circles on his back, and whispered :
“It’s ok, it’s going to be ok. It’s ok. Calm down, things are going to be ok.”
Your husband lost count of the time passing. Were they there, holding each others while Dick was sobbing uncontrollably, for ten minutes, or for ten hours ? He didn’t know. And he didn’t budge.
His son needed him. Just like once, he needed Alfred...
Dick fell asleep in his arms, and that night, Bruce came home early.
Not like he was going to stay out anyway, knowing you were probably devastated, all alone in your room...
************
Dick fell into a deep sleep, and didn’t budge one bit even as Bruce came down the building, rode home, and put him into bed.
Bruce’s guess was that all the pent up feelings truly exhausted him. Also, he knew that crying could be tiring. And freeing, in a way.
Putting the boy’s blanket all the way up to his chin, Bruce laid a kiss on his forehead and then rushed to your shared bedroom...
You had cried too, but you were not asleep.
Your eyes were puffy and red, and your cheeks marked with your tears. You seemed surprised, when he came in, and looked at the clock.
It was only midnight ?
“Hello, my love.”
He sat down next to you, and from the way he ran his fingers through your hair, and caressed your cheek, wiping the salty tears from it...You knew he knew.
He knew how devastated you felt. How those simple words that would mean nothing for many, truly wounded you.
He knew how much you loved that boy, how as soon as your eyes laid on his little face that terrible night he lost his parents, you felt like he was going to be your son one day.
He knew how much you’d sacrifice for that kid’s happiness, how far you’d go to keep him safe...And so, how hurtful him telling you you weren’t his real mother must’ve felt.
There was no need for words.
He knew what to do. He laid next to you, and you just cuddled up to him, letting him wrap you up in his warm embrace.
He drew those same soothing circles on your back than he did on Dick’s. And whispered :
“He didn’t mean it. He truly didn’t. He loves you, you know. I love you too.”
You fell asleep to his words of love and reassurance, finally letting go after hours of not being able to sleep, reenacting the terrible scene in your head over and over again, making yourself feel worst each times.
************
You woke up around 4 am, with Bruce’s arms wrapped around you.
He was asleep and escaping his grasp (without Alfred’s help) took you a little bit..but you managed to leave without waking him up.
He did groan a little at the loss of your warmth, and grabbed your pillow to hold it against his chest. Which was extremely cute, and oh how glad you were to be the only one to see this side of him.
You went down to the kitchen and...
Dick was coming from the other door, opposite to the one you took.
The kitchen had three access. Two doors facing each others, and one on the third wall. The door you took was because you got a little lost and did a detour through the drawing room. Dick, however, came from the door you should’ve come from too, which was the one you accessed from the West Wing third corridors, which was directly under your bedroom, and Dick’s.
The boy probably stood up a little after you, and while you got lost in your own home (again), he took the normal way and...
Boom. Here you both were, arriving in the kitchen at the same time.
There was a small silence. Awkward. And...
Your heart tightened.
Dick was sort of cowering backward in fear. Fear of what ?
Oh. But of course.
“He didn’t mean it.”
Bruce whispered to you many times, before you fell asleep. And the way Dick looked at you, worry in his eyes...He was thinking you were mad at him. And the regret in his pupils was as obvious as that fact.
“Ice cream ?”
You ask him. His eyes widen a bit, and you can almost see the gears in his brain trying to piece everything together. You’re...not mad at him ?
Of course you’re not. You felt sad, and lost, and hurt, yes. But never did you feel any hint of anger. Of course not.
You take out his favorite flavor from the freezer, and settle a bowl in front of one of the high stool around the counter.
At that time, Dick was so tiny. A very short little bean. And he’d stay small for a long time, only having a sudden spurt when he was around fifteen.
He climbed onto the stool, and watched you as you gave him some ice cream and a spoon, and then sat down next to him to eat some as well.
The silent was slowly turning less awkward.
Slowly, and unsurely, Dick picked his spoon up and looked at you. And completely missed his mouth, the ice cream spreading on his cheek instead.
You turn around to look at him, ice cream on his cheek, and he’s clearly embarrassed, as a tint of color slowly rises on his face.
You don’t really know why, but something snaps in you and you start laughing. And laughing. And laughing.
Because honestly, the kid missing his mouth as he picked his spoon up full of ice cream, is kinda funny right ? And also, all the tension and stress you felt suddenly broke with this simple, silly thing.
Unsure at first, Dick just looked at you. But your laughter quickly spread to him, and soon enough, you both were bursting out in laughter.
Anyone not knowing what happened, would probably think you were both crazy, laughing that hard for no apparent reasons.
Instinctually, you ruffle his hair and Dick gasps. You really weren’t mad at him ?!
You realized what you did, and slowly, both your laughter subsided. There was a small silence as Dick stared at you, and you stared back, and then :
“I’m-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it. I didn’t mean it !”
He says in a small voice, and he can’t add anything else as you just pick him up and hold him tight against your heart, and you say :
“I know.”
And it’s all he needs to realize you’re not really mad at him, and although he messed up and hurt you, right now, you were both on the path of recovery...
Next morning, Bruce woke up alone in bed, which greatly distressed him as usual (he often woke up first). But a gut feeling was telling him that...
He found you asleep with Dick in his bed, holding him tightly.
************
After that event, you sat down with him, so you could have a serious talk about the underlining issue this raised. Talk about something important.
“Little bird, you know I love you, right ?”
He nods, but still cannot speak quite yet, doesn’t have the energy to.
“I want you to understand something. Something vital. Are you listening ?”
He nods again, his eyes fixed on you. And he’s listening, oh he definitely is.
“It’s ok to be angry. It’s ok to lash out. It’s ok to not be alright. It’s ok to make mistakes.”
He nods, a little slower than before, and you can see his eyes slowly becoming wetter and wetter.
“It’s ok. It really is. I’m here. And I love you. Even when you don’t want me around. Even when you push me away. I’m here. And I always will be. Ok ?”
He nods one last time, unable to hold his tears, and then his little arms latch around you, and he refuses to let go for well over an hour...
Oh. Sweet, sweet boy.
Your son.
************
Even now, at age twenty seven, Dick still often think about this day. And the regrets are as burning as they were back then.
He often thought about it.
Whenever you did something for him, went out of your way to make him happy, or were just there for him, always...
He’d have a flashback of this day, and feel nothing but regret and anger at his younger self.
And then you’d read him like an open book. Know exactly what he was thinking, and would slowly shake your head, and say : “I know I often said that, but I will say it till the day I die if I need to :  when you came into my life, you changed everything. And I love all of you little bird. Not just when you’re joking around and smiling. But also when you get angry, and lash out. You are my son. I love all of you. Even when you’re a little bit of a jerk.” and you’d wink at him, making him chuckle and feel a surge of affection toward you.
Kind of like the ones you’d feel sometimes. A sudden urge to hug your family, to tell them what they mean to you. Both you and Dick understood since a long time that with the life you all lead, you never knew what could happen, and should never waste a “I love you” if you felt like saying it.
Well, the apple never fall far from the tree ?
Yes. Because you were his mom. And nothing would ever change his mind on that. Ever.
JASON
"Well Jason, you did it you idiot !”
He says to himself in the mirror, and oh he could’ve punch himself if it was possible. He took his desk chair, and threw it across his bedroom, letting out a scream of frustration.
He went to his desk, and threw everything that was on it on the floor. He then went to his book shelves and...
There. Your book. The one you wrote for him.
Jason fell to his knee, holding his head in his hands, crying softly.
Yes. Yes he did it...He ruined this one chance life gave him to have parents.
He hurt one of the person that meant the most to him, one of the person he loved the most...His mom. You.
Because you were his mom, no matter what he told you, in that moment of anger as you scolded him after he did something dangerous during one of his patrol.
He hadn’t been allowed to go out for long, by then. And Bruce had already scolded him before for the very same thing, so when you did it too, he had enough and...it happened before he could think about it.
He was angry, about the lack of trust and about the sermons, and his brain tried to hurt without even thinking about it. Triggered by years of living in the streets, where he had to think quick and act right away, and then suffer the consequences. If he wasn’t fast enough, it could be the end of him...
A gut reaction triggered by years of being all on his own, having to fend for himself. His brain went into overdrive, “hurt” is what it set into motion.
“You’re not my mom !”
And that was it...
As he saw your face fell, and his father’s face turn angry, he knew. He knew he messed up. He messed everything up, as usual !
“Jason !”
Bruce called, but Jason wasn’t about to stop. He ran out of the cave, right to his bedroom. Oh, oh but if only he stayed a little longer. He’d realize that his father wasn’t angry, just hurt as well.
Hurt to see the woman he loved being hurt.
Not angry. Ah but being in pain could sometimes look like you are mad ? And Bruce hadn't been able to hide his frown as he heard Jason’s words...
“Let him be, Bruce.”
You say in a weak voice. You knew Jason, you knew sometimes he needed to cool down on his own. That he could be impulsive, but always came around.
Ah. But that time, he needed everything but to be alone.
Because, as he thought he ruined his one chance at having a real family, he thought...
“Better to leave before they throw me away !”
He knew he could never bear to face you and Bruce, as you’d certainly tell him you were “un-adopting” him. Jason saw it happened before. Someone thinking their adopted kid was “too much”, and sending them back.
It was awful, of course. But it happened. For real. And Jason knew that life could really suck...But her couldn’t bear to face you as you’d send him away.
Worst, what if you just send Alfred and that was it ?
No. Jason would leave before you could do that. He couldn’t bear it. He couldn’t.
Filling his backpack with some clothes, and snacks, he opened his window and slid down the gutter all the way to the ground, and then ran away into the night. Tears trailing down behind him, as he left behind the one place in which he ever felt safe, warm, and loved.
In the meantime, you and Bruce were unaware of that, and slowly falling asleep in each others’ arms... As usual, Bruce was there for you.
************
“Jason ? I thought I wouldn’t see you anymore after you got adopted by dem fancy fellas. Are you here to get some work ?”
“No.”
“Really, why did you come then ?”
“I didn’t, I’m just passing by.”
“Nah, don’t believe it. Once a bad boy, always a bad boy !”
“TAKE IT BACK !”
As he ran away, Jason went back to a place he thought he never would need to. A few intricate alleys, in the Bowery, under the main city.
The Bowery, a filthy underground neighborhood, hell on Earth for many. Although things did improve when Batman started his work a few years back.
“Wow there tiger, relax.”
Jason came in this specific area for only one thing. Retrieve a few items he left behind, thinking he would never need it again because he was leaving behind this life.
He had a hideout, not far. In which he hid some materials to survive in the streets. He thought he probably had to go back to stealing cars’ tires...Although maybe he should change it. Thinking of what happened last time he did this hurt his heart.
He knew that next time he’d get caught stealing tires, the person wouldn’t end up adopting him...Anyway, he didn’t want any other parents but you and Bruce.
And he messed that up so bad, by being so mean to you !
“Listen, it’s not because you got all fancy schmancy that you can talk to me like that. Remember who’s boss in this part of town.”
Batman did a lot of good to the city, but also, by getting rid of some big players in the “crime business”, he allowed small time thugs to climb up the ladders...It felt, at times, like there always was someone to replace whoever Bruce just put behind bars...
The man who was talking to Jason, used to be a small time criminal. Turned boss, when the Batman kept arresting all the people above him. Jason used to “work” for him, bringing him watches or jewelry that he’d exchange against cash.
Damn. He never thought he’d ever see him again... Oh and he definitely didn’t think this through.
As the new boss, who’s name was Johnny Clancy, told him that he’d forever be a “bad boy”, Jason saw red and...getting mad at a crime boss was a bad idea.
Before he could even think about an escape plan, Jason was surrounded by dangerous armed men.
“How dare you talk to me like that ? Mmm. The Waynes adopted you right ? Mmm. They’re loaded. Probably would pay a fortune to get you back uh ? And to think they’re gonna give me a lot of cash to get a little runaway brat back haha. Because that’s what you did right ? You ran away ? As you always did before mm ? You know, I observed you Jason Todd. I saw you run away from anyone getting close. I saw you.”
Jason’s heart didn’t need anyone to push and squiggle the knife he felt in around some more. He had just lost his family. Did he need more reminder that he always fucked up ?!
“They won’t give you any money, they don’t want me anymore...”
But Johnny didn’t believe him, of course. He told two of his thugs to grab the boy, but Jason, by instinct, dropped them to the floor with a few well placed kicks and punches.
And that was enough to unleash Johnny Clancy’s wrath.
See, he was a new boss. He had to assert dominance. And an eight years old kid making a fool of him and his gang ? That wouldn’t go.
So what if he had to off a child ? Anything to keep climbing up, and leave the Bowery’s slums.
************
“Have you seen Jason ?”
Bruce asks you, a few hours after your fight with him.
“What ? No, I thought he was with you ?”
“No, he skipped his training and I thought he might be with you, apologizing for what he said yesterday ? You know, sounds like something he would do.”
“I haven’t seen him since, you know. I thought he was avoiding me...”
“He would never.”
“Bruce...”
“He would never, my love. I know what he said hurt you, but I’m sure he’s regretting it right now. You should go see him, he’s probably sulking in his bedroom. I wouldn’t be surprised if you meet him up the stairs as he comes down to say sorry.”
“Bruce...”
Your husband comes to you, and takes your hands in his.
“You know him. He’s impulsive, and a little abrasive sometimes. But he’s a sweet child. And he regrets his bursts, you know it. Tonight was just tough, we both scolded him, he’s not used to it.”
“You’re right.”
“Of course I am, I’m-”
“I swear to God if you say “I’m Batman” I’m going to smack you.”
Bruce smiles softly at you, glad he managed to at least made the tension go away a little. He pecks your lips quickly, and watches you as you leave to go to your son’s bedroom.
He was about to go down the Batcave, when you came back, panicked :
“He’s gone ! Jason’s gone !”
Ah. Bruce knew that placing a tracker in his children’s molars was a good idea.
************
“HOW HARD IS IT TO CATCH A FUCKING KID ?!”
Jason runs as fast as he can, without looking back. He managed to break the line of thugs coming at him, and escape in-between to of them who didn’t pull their guns out quite yet.
They were shooting at him. With no hesitation.
Johnny was set on proving he was an unscrupulous boss. To earn everyone’s respect. So what if he had to shoot a kid ? It’d send everyone a message. He’d back off from nothing !
Jason turned in an alley and...Damn it ! He must’ve taken a wrong turn at some point, it had been a while, since he roamed the Bowery’s alleyways...
He was faced by a wall, stuck. And they quickly caught up to him.
“Wooouh, you’re fast kid. And you’re sneaky. Too bad you’re such a brat, I bet you could be a nice addition to our-”
Johnny Clancy never finished his sentence. In fact, he never could properly speak after that night. After getting his jaw broken into a thousand pieces by the Batman’s fist.
Bruce had come down from nowhere, with...you in his arms ?!
This was the first time Jason saw you wear the costume he saw a few times in the Batcave. He thought you wore it only to go to the JLA’s watchtower, to hide your identity. Not that you could actually...fight ?!
And wow, you definitely could hold your own ! You made a few disarming pass, taking the guns away from all the men before they could even react, and letting Bruce finish them off with well placed kicks and punches.
Oh and that night, the Batman unleashed his rage and unforgiveness full force. How dare they touch his son ?!
You didn’t have anything to envy from your husband either, however, as you worked through Johnny’s gang rather fast too.
That night, the both of you exterminated (figure of speech, of course, neither of you ever killed, that was the one big rule...but there were never a rule against breaking a few bones) Johnny Clancy’s gang, who dared to even think of hurting your precious son.
Jason, holding his backpack tight against him, couldn’t believe his eyes. You two came to save him ? But...why ?
He messed up. You’d surely not want him around anymore !
Once Bruce dropped the last man, you rushed to Jason and before he could utter a sound, took him in your arms.
“Oh my god, I’m so glad you’re safe baby, I’m so glad you’re...”
Your voice broke at the end, and you chocked, the emotions too strong and squeezing your throat.
Jason didn’t understand. And through his surprise, he managed to say :
“I thought-I thought you’d never want to see me again, and that you wouldn’t want to be my mom anymore.”
You hold him even tighter, as you feel Bruce get down on his knee and bring the both of you in his arms.
“Oh sweety, never. Never.”
You say, not letting go.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry...”
Your son manage to choke out, before sobbing profusely and holding on to you and Bruce.
“I’m just glad you’re safe...it’s ok, it’s ok it’s already forgotten...”
And it was. As soon as you saw that Jason-That your SON, was missing, you forgot he ever told you “you’re not my mom”. You forgot and it truly didn’t matter anymore, as all you cared about was to find him, and make sure he was safe.
“Jason, oh my little Jason, I’m so glad you’re safe...”
Wether it is a conscious things or not, he returns your embrace fiercely, holding tightly as he looks up at you. It almost feels like he wants to make sure you really are there. And won’t go anywhere. Like everyone else did in his life.
Jason was tired of losing those close to him. Those he cared about. Sometimes, he’d push them away, by fear of getting attached again just for life to rip them away from him. So he held onto you, as you held him back.
Tightly against your heart.
“Mom...”
This was the day Jason Todd realized something very important : He wasn’t alone anymore. He had parents who loved him, and he loved them back.
So much.
And they’d never let him go. Never.
************
Years later, this love he had for you and Bruce, turned out to be the very reason he became “Red Hood”.
From that day he told you : “you’re not my real mom !”, he felt like he belonged. Like finally, the people he loved loved him back. Like he was cherished. And then Bruce didn’t avenge him. He let Joker get away. And you let him do it. You, the people he trusted and loved most in the world, betrayed him...
He felt like he wasn’t worth it. He wasn’t worth Bruce breaking his one rule to avenge him. He wasn’t worth it...He didn’t matter enough.
Jason felt so angry. For years. He wanted to hurt you, to hurt Bruce. To show you what it felt like. What HE felt like.
But Jason has always been a strong one. You knew it. You told him enough times : “you’re a fighter, my Jason. You went through so much, and always came out of it. You lost a lot on the way my little one, but you never give up. You never give up...”
You never give up.
Love.
It’s what drove him to become the Red Hood. It’s what drove him over the edge. What gave him so much pain.
Rather, the feeling of not being loved. The thought all you and Bruce said to him, about how much you cared and loved him, was a lie.
Yes. The thought that you lied about loving him, is what broke him. What made him find every way possible to truly, truly hurt you two.
You never give up.
He was so angry. But he never could quite give up on his family...that’s why he didn’t stay with the Al’ghuls. That why they didn’t keep him.
He could never forget you and Bruce. Move on.
He could never.
Jason was a strong lad. Strong enough to see past his hate and need of revenge. His pain. His deep trauma.
It took a while. But the change came from him. He’s the one that gave you another chance. And it allowed him to realize...nothing was a lie.
And you got your son back.
Because you showed him. You showed him nothing was a lie.
When his dad never gave up on him even as he killed more and more people, and even as Jason saw him completely erase people who used to be close from him as soon as they killed once. When you refused to let him go. When Bruce kept going back, even as he knew Jason would fight him and try to hurt him. When you pleaded with him, even when you knew his answer would be the same...
Jason never gave up.
But you didn’t either.
“You’re not my mom”, are words he never meant. Not even once. Not even when he was the “old” Red Hood, the one that killed mercilessly any criminals, and that was trying to be exactly what Batman wasn’t.
“You’re not my mom”, even at his worst, at a time he suffered greatly, Jason never meant it. He never did.
And ultimately, it’s this filial love, and the love you and Bruce had for him, that brought him back out of the dark pit the Joker pushed him in...
TIM
Tim knew that his overly pragmatic mind sometimes could make him sound tactless. That he had trouble, sometimes, expressing himself properly.
He knew that what he said, although it could be the factual truth, could be perceived as not being very nice...
He knew, yet sometimes, he couldn’t help himself.
“But you’re not my mom.”
He told you that day, as you asked when was the “mother/child day” at school.
Tim’s school had a day each year, during which every mother would come and do different activities with their kids. You did it with Dick and Jason, and it was always great fun, and amazing bonding time.
By then, Tim had been with you and Bruce for over a year now. And he did, see you as his mom. However, he was a little too set, at the time, on rules and specifics. In the “mother/child day” rulebook, it “specifically” said that the actual child’s mother had to come, not the nanny or anyone else.
In Tim’s mind, although he did see you as his mom, he thought the school wouldn’t. For him, the way the rules were written, were clearly stating his birth mother had to come. And the official adoption papers were not processed yet. Those took quite a while.
He had been living with you for over a year. He called you and Bruce “mom and dad”. He truly considered you two his parents. But the official papers were not done quite yet. So to him, in the eye of the law (be it a silly school rule), you weren’t his mom quite yet.
So when he said : “but you’re not my mom”, that’s what he meant. Of course, you misunderstood...
How could you guess that Tim was thinking that only his “birth mother” could take him, because officially right now he didn’t have a mom, just “guardians”...
His mother was dead. Has been dead for a while, now. And even if she wasn’t, Tim knew she’d never come at this event...She wasn’t the caring type of mother. Not like you. Which is why it really bummed him out that those rules were so clearly stated like that !
What Tim misunderstood, is that this specific rule had been added to the rulebook because many family would send their nanny, or a big sister, instead of the mom. Because Tim was of course in Gotham’s Academy, full of rich families, in which the moms were very busy...
Which is why such a day existed. Some kids spend quality times with their mom only on this school day. Nowadays, everyone made an effort to come (the fact you appeared, the famed (Y/N) Wayne, a few years back, with Dick, and it made all the papers’ headlines, might’ve influenced others to participate too).
To tell the truth, Tim was very disappointed that you couldn’t go with him, and was considering asking the principle of the school to do an exception to the rule and allow you to go with him.
He was already fomenting a plan in his head to convince the headmaster to let you come as his mom, and as usual when he was planning things out, he completely disconnected from reality.
And therefor, didn’t see how your face “closed”, and your eyes turned sad. The boy was typing away on his computer, as if nothing had just happened, as if you didn’t feel your world crumble as he flat out told you you weren’t his mom...
Of course, it was all a misunderstanding. He meant it as “officially”. Not about his actual feelings.
For some reason, the way he said it so nonchalantly hurts you more than when Dick and Jason yelled at you that you “weren't their mom”. Because at least, in your eldests’ cases, you knew it was in the heat of the moment.
That it was because they felt frustrated and sad.
But Tim just told you : “But you’re not my mom.” matter of factly, and moved on. And it hurt.
It hurt so much, because that boy...You loved that boy, of course. And considered him your son for sure. Part of your heart, now. Part of your family. And he felt so far, right now...so far...
You left the room and he didn’t even notice.
Did he really not see you as his mom ? Was he just calling you “mom” to imitate his brothers ? ...You didn’t know, but it hurt.
It hurt so much.
************
You found Bruce in his office, doing some paperworks for Wayne Inc. When he saw your face, he immediately smiled, your presence lighting his whole world...But then he saw your expression, and he frowned.
“What happened ?”
************
“Mom ? MooOOooom ?”
Tim had been looking for you for the past hour, but wasn’t able to find you. You weren't in all your favorite places ! Did you leave the Manor without telling him ? It was unlike you.
Finally, he found you. You were in a room that was rarely used, but which was conveniently close to Bruce’s office, and had a couch.
Laying on top of your husband, you were fast asleep as Bruce was going through his paperworks, letting you holding onto his waist as he kept working.
When he saw the boy come in the room, he smiled at him. And it was hard, not to smile at Tim, seeing his own big wide smile.
Tim was missing a few teeth, that fell not long ago, and it was absolutely the cutest, when he smiled widely. He looked so happy, eyes sparkly and genuine smile. It felt wrong to Bruce, to think that this sweet boy didn’t see you as his mom...
Maybe it was all a misunderstanding ? Wouldn’t be the first time. Although, Bruce knew how sometimes Tim could be brutally honest, and say the facts in a matter of factly way that could be very harsh on the uninitiated.
Your son was holding a cardboard sheet almost as big as him, and looked very excited about something. He slowly approached you two, and said, whispering, yet the excitement was clear in his voice :
“Has she been asleep for long, dad ?!”
He called Bruce dad. Without an hesitation. And it felt so genuine. Like he was relishing in the word rolling off of his tongue. And it was often the case, with Tim. His parents, when they were still alive, never really noticed his presence...
And sometimes, it could be even worst to have parents who acted as if you didn’t exist, than caring parents who passed away. Bruce realized this.
“No, she just closed her eyes.”
Bruce answers, looking at you. And oh he couldn’t possibly know how soft his expressions as as he gazed at your sleeping face.
“Oh...”
Tim was clearly disappointed. His shoulders fell down, and he looked on the floor, looking defeated.
“What is it, champ ?”
“Well, I wanted her to-Oh ! Mom !”
The rumbling of your husband’s chest as he spoke is what woke you up. Not the actual sound of their voices, just that low vibrations reverberating in his chest.
You opened one eye, then the second, and was greeted by your youngest son’s face being very close to you. As Tim saw you were waking up, he kneeled down next to the couch, settling his piece of cardboard next to him, and approached you very closely.
His smile and sweet expression filled your vision. And you felt even more hurt, as you saw him so happy to see you, to know he didn’t really think you were his mom.
It was clear he cared for you. And loved you, and being with you. But to him...You weren’t his mom. And that was so painful.
“I got a plan mom, I got a plan !”
A...Plan ? For what ? You don’t even have time to ask him, and, still a little hazy as you just woke up from a short nap (that you took after crying exhausted you), you raise a little from your husband.
You exchange a curious look with him, as you see Tim spring to his feet and get a hold of the piece of cardboard that is almost as tall and large as him.
He turns it around and...
Your heart drops.
It’s a lot of very detailed drawings, maps and words about...about...
“This is how we’re going to convince the headmaster of my school that you’re really my mom, even if officially you’re not yet !! I thought we could start with logic first, and then go down the path of pathos if he really doesn’t change his mind !”
What ? Your brain is trying really hard to comprehend what’s happening, although it is starting to put two and two together.
“The rules say that the mom HAS to be the one who comes, and the way they wrote it suggest that they wouldn’t accept someone who isn’t yet official. But I think we could convince that, in our heart, we’re already an official family, right ?!”
Tim looks at you, and then at his dad, a little worry in his eyes (what if for them, he wasn’t their son yet because the paperworks weren’t finished and officials quite yet ?!?!). Bruce cannot help but smile, and nods, feeling his heart melt (a rare occurrence).
And you. You have exactly the reaction he expected you’d have. You sit up, put the cardboard aside, and drag your son into a tight hug that makes him giggle and exclaim :
“Hahaha mom wait I can’t breaaaathe !! Mom !!”
But he hugs you back, knowing that this means yes, you do consider him your son already, paperworks or not, and you will probably follow his plan to convince the school to-
“Mom ? Why are you crying ? Mom ?”
You can’t explain it to him. You feel silly, but also so emotional and touched. You thought he didn’t think of you as his mom. But he did. Oh he did, and was actually worried about technicalities of rules and...So sweet. That boy is so sweet.
Carefully, Tim dries your tears, and look curiously at his dad, his eyes clearly asking : “Did I do something wrong ?”
You’re still unable to speak, as you hold onto him, and Bruce ruffles his son’s hair saying :
“She’s just too happy, champ. She’s just too happy.”
CASSANDRA
"You, not my mom !”
She screamed. You never heard Cass raised her voice before. And yet, here, she screamed at you. And then closed her bedroom door right on your nose.
And you felt it in your heart. That specific pain that you wished you’d never feel again. That kind of hurt you wished you’d never feel ever again.
It happened just liked it did with Dick and Jason. You were “lecturing” her about putting herself in needless danger, and she felt frustrated at the fact you “didn’t trust her”.
It wasn’t true of course. You did trust her. And you knew she could hold her own. Didn’t mean you wouldn’t worry, and scold her if she really scared you...
It was pure instinct. You couldn’t stop yourself from telling them off when you felt they went too far. You did it with Bruce too.
Once, he threw himself in the way of a bullet to save you, and once he recovered enough...Oh you were so mad at him.
It’s not that you wanted to take that bullet, of course. You knew it was also instinct that made him move to save you. But in truth, you would rather take a thousand bullet than lose any of them. Bruce, or your children.
And sometimes, it was hard for them to understand this. To get why you were so worried, when you accepted fully their night activities.
Why you monitored the batcomputer, if it was to scold them when they put themselves in danger ?
Ah but they didn’t understand that you only got “mad” when they put themselves in NEEDLESS danger. Pushing themselves too far that one night, being careless with something, ignoring their own safety to finish a task...
You couldn’t help but be afraid. And your fear turned into you scolding them. And sometimes, on each sides, things boiled and...
“You, not my mom !”
The meaning was clear. As Cass slammed her door right in your face, you knew not to push it further, not to tell her anything more.
Maybe you should’ve ? Should’ve open her door, and continue lecturing her so she’d understand her life was valuable ?
Cass put herself in danger more than any other member of your family, because she was raised as a weapon and thought of herself as an “expendable”. You weren’t mad at her for this, of course not (but oh, David Cain probably should never cross your path, it wasn’t pretty, when you were truly angry).
You were just worried. And unfortunately, being a parent was complicated and sometimes, your worry turned a little overbearing for your kids.
This was a mistake every normal caring parents made. Wanting what was best for their children, sometimes not realizing they’re going too far. And you ? Your family wasn’t normal.
Your children were vigilantes. Your worries were tuned up to the max.
Being a parent was hard. And sometimes, both you and your kids were frustrated. It happened. In any family.
It was resolved rather fast, most of the time. A little conversation, understanding and indulgence, and boom. Sorted.
However, there were times when things would go a little too far. Wether because one of you was tired, or didn’t feel well etc etc...
Tonight, was such a time.
“You, not my mom !”
Cass didn’t even register what she said. She was just mad and frustrated, and said the first thing that came into her mind. Her hand slammed the door shut before she could even think about it.
And here you were. In the corridor. In front of your daughter’s door.
Hurt. And feeling as devastated as you did when her brothers told you the same thing. You would think, after a few times of this happening, it’d be easier, right ? Well. No. It wasn’t. It really wasn’t.
As usual in those instances, you went to seek comfort in the arms of your husband.
************
Cassandra didn’t feel ok.
In fact, she felt absolutely terrible.
She couldn’t even remember the last time she felt that bad.
When she went to look for you and apologize for her behavior, she found you in her dad’s arms, crying, and it made her run away...
She couldn’t face you, knowing she truly hurt you like that.
The worst thing is, she knew she would hurt you by saying those words. Yet she still did it. It was as if she couldn’t control herself. It was like an ugly force took over her, and made her say those words.
But she knew. She knew she’s the one who ultimately decided to say them. She’s the one that pronounced them. Under the anger.
Anger.
The ugly force.
She turned around in her bed, holding onto the plush toy you gave her shortly after her arrival. You said “every child should have one” and that this one made you think of her.
It was a fox with bright colors. And it still smelled like you.
She was about to fall asleep, when she heard a knock on her door.
“Can we come in ?”
It was her older brothers.
Dick, Jason and Tim.
It was rare, to have them all in the same place nowadays, what with how busy they all were. Dick with Bludhäven, Jason with the gods only knew what really (the gods, and you and Bruce...but sshhh, that’s a secret), and Tim with college applications.
So Cass immediately understood that they heard about the fight she had with their mom.
And she felt a rush of shame come over her. She felt sad too, because maybe they’d be mad at her ?
Cassandra didn’t think she could bear to break your heart, and have her precious brothers mad at her all in the same day.
She almost told them to leave. But she didn’t have the strength.
They surrounded her, and their presence was so...soothing.
And then they spoke. They each told her the story of the time they told their mom those few dreaded words.
“You’re not my real mom !”
They told her how awful they felt, and how they knew they hurt their mom. They told her that...well, they did have the best mom ever.
You never held any grudge. Ever. Especially not against your own family.
You never even mentioned again the fact they told you this awful thing, you never even mentioned once this, under any circumstances.
Her brothers stayed with her for hours, talking about their feelings on the matter. Telling her it happened. That everyone wasn’t always on their best behavior...
It was hard, for Cass, to not be “good”. She did so many awful things when her biological father raised her to be a weapon, she felt like she had to catch up so much on those years of “badness”.
She often felt like she was evil, and could never caught up to everything. Like she was doomed, and could never become good.
On that, Jason told her she was wrong. That everyone could change, and no one was born truly evil. Environment, and the way you’re raised, matter. And what she did...wasn’t her fault. She was forced to. If she really enjoyed doing this she’d never become a Batgirl. She would never be part of this family.
She often felt like she was a bad daughter.
On that, Dick told her she was wrong. He too, felt like a bad son, when he “replaced” his parents with you and Bruce. He too, felt like a bad son when he would get so mad while you would do anything to make him happy. He too, felt like a bad son...on so many occasions. But he grew. And thanks to you mainly, he realized he was just human. Mistakes are human. And it’s not being a bad son, to sometimes feel so hurt that you lash out. That your trauma are so strong, things sometimes are tough.
She often felt like she couldn’t fit in, and would never fit in.
On that, Tim told her she was wrong. Him too, felt too different. He already had parents, they were alive, he just wanted to help, he didn’t have any friends...But in this family. In this family, everyone fitted in. Because you made it so. Bruce made it saw. You both accepted any flaws, and differences your kids might have. You loved them unconditionally, they all knew that by now.
And Cass...Cass didn’t want to hurt you.
They knew that, too.
It was an accident. In the heat of the moment. She didn’t mean it. Of course, you are her mom. Of course...
It felt good, to have her brothers there for her, when you couldn’t be.
************
Later that night, after her brothers left, Cass slowly exits her room and take the known way to yours and Bruce’s.
You are both there, and she knows her dad stayed because you felt bad. He always stayed with you, when you were feeling down. And vice versa.
Cass always told herself that, later, if she ever found a significant other, she’d want her and them to have the same kind of relationships than you. You and Bruce set up a rather high standard for whoever would come into her life.
But that was another story. For now, she was opening the door slowly, scared of waking you up. But you were awake.
Bruce was asleep, deeply. As usual when he felt your warmth against him. But you were not. Cass could see you slowly and absentmindedly caress your husband’s hair. It was soothing to both of you. His silky smooth dark hair were soft in between your fingers, and helped you get your mind off of the pain and focus on the sensation, while for him...Well, it put him asleep, when you did that.
The door creaked a little, and you abruptly turned your head towards it, ready to fight and...You instantly recognize your daughter, even in the dark of the room.
She doesn’t need to talk. You manage to roll over Bruce, who then by instinct roll too, and therefor you create a little spot for your daughter to climb in bed with you.
You turn around in Bruce’s arms, and slowly wrap them around your middle, instead of your shoulders. You turn towards Cass, your back against Bruce’s chest, and tap the small spot you managed to create next to you.
Cass understands, and climbs in, facing you. She lays her head on her arms, as you do the same. And then she mouthes :
“Sorry mom...”
And that’s all you needed. You gesture for your daughter to cuddle up close, and she does. By instinct, Bruce lets go one arm off of you, and grabs his kid to bring her closer. He is still asleep, but it wouldn’t surprise anyone that his subconscious holds onto the two most important women in his life like so.
And there she is. Cass feels safe. And warm. And she hears your heart beat softly. And she knows it partly beats for her.
And partly for Bruce. And partly for Dick. And partly for Jason. And Tim. And Damian. And Duke. And Alfred.
It beats for your family.
For her family.
Family.
She has a family.
And you are her mom.
Her biological father never hugged her, never told her everything was going to be alright, never...
Cass never felt safe and warm.
Like she did, right now, held by both you and Bruce.
“Family...”
She whispers, as she slowly falls asleep. And you’re the only mom she ever wants to have. You are, her real mom. Always have been, always will be.
DAMIAN
Damian didn’t really think this was a big deal, at first.
Just like his father, he often made the mistake to think that people around him will simply understand his true meaning.
When he told you : “You’re not even my real mom !”, he obviously didn’t mean it. He was angry because you told him he couldn’t go out on patrol for a few days, as he was grounded for skipping school and going to work on cases instead.
“But school is boring, I already know everything ??”
“It’s the principle of it, Damian. You can’t just do what you want whenever you want, this is not how it works. I don’t feel like we’re extremely strict parents, so when you betray our trusts like that, it has consequences.”
Bruce kept out of the argument, ready to jump in however if you needed him to affirm  that yes, actions have consequences and although you two are pretty lax with your son on many fronts, he still has to listen. You and Bruce made clear rules when you first adopted Dick, because you realized your lifestyle was anything but normal, but it didn’t mean your children could just do anything they wanted.
Neither of you wanted them to turn into privileged little brats. Or to think they were above everything. And you were right, by skipping school so much, and lying about it, Damian did betray your trust.
Understanding actions had consequences was a big step that took a while, with Damian. Unfortunately, he grew up in an environment that indeed taught him he could do whatever he wanted, no matter if he hurt people on the way...
Unlearning all this, was tough. And you understood that. Which is why you let things go a lot, with him, and only slowly told him about things. Gradually teaching him about your values and principles.
However sometimes, like in this case, you needed to be firm and strict, because otherwise he’d just keep doing it knowing it had no bad consequences, and you didn’t want him to simply not go to school anymore...School was important for his social development, you realized it as he made friends and...
And simply, an eleven years old kid couldn’t just roam around all day as he saw fit. That’s it. And so here you were, trying to explain this to him. And that’s when he said it.
He scrunched up his nose like he always did when he was angry, and then, turning his head away from you, throwing his Robin boots at the back of the cave.
“You can’t tell me what to do, you’re not even my real mom !”
And then he bolted out of the Batcave, leaving you behind, with a broken heart and feeling guilty...What if he hates you, because you were too harsh on him ?
Bruce, that night, did not go out on patrol either, and stayed with you. Of course, he did.
************
The fact he still listened to you and didn’t go out, made him thought you knew he was just angry and didn’t mean a word of it.
To him, it was so obvious he thought of you as his mom, and that he said this just because he wanted to have the last word, that he honestly didn’t think much of it.
Sure he was frustrated and angry, just like any kid was when their parents said : “no” to them. But he didn't mean it...
He didn’t really see you of the entire day. Finally, he decided to go see his father to ask him what was up.
“Father ?”
“Yes ?”
“Is-is mom ok ?”
“Well, what do you think ?”
“She doesn’t seem ok.”
“Do you know why ?”
“Did you do something to upset her ?”
Normally, Bruce would feel vex at this statement. What, did he really do things to upset you that often ? Yes and now. Sometimes,  he would get on your nerve, and vice versa. It happened, in relationships.
But it was never anything major. Not anymore at least. Because now, when he had his “dark days” and could be a total jerk, you knew how to handle him. You knew not to take his bullshit.
Yes. Normally, Bruce would pout like a child, at the fact his son thought that his mom was feeling down because of him. But not today. No.
Because he knew that what made you sad, was something important.
Unfortunately, Damian inherited from him his bad habit of thinking others will understand his meaning.
Like, when he tried to push you away at first so you wouldn't get involved in his crazy life, what he really wanted was for you to get closer...Or when he told you that he was fine at times, all he wanted was for you to hold him and take care of him etc etc...The first time he told you “I love you”, wasn’t with words, but by not going on patrol one night, to stay with you. And he thought you’d immediately understand that he truly loved you...Truth was, it wasn’t as obvious to you (or anyone really) than it was for him.
And Damian had the same problem. Doing things that he thought would obviously tell his meaning, his real feelings, when really...No one but him would get it.
Although you became quite good at deciphering your husband’s true intentions, you could still misinterpret things sometimes.
And yesterday night, when you grounded your son and tried to teach him a life lesson...You definitely didn’t see that he didn’t mean what he said and just wanted the last word. For you, he was seriously meaning it. And that’s why you were avoiding him a little, because it was too hard to...to...
Damian’s words truly hurt you. You often were scared he could never see you as his mom (even if he did call you mom now and clearly cared for you) because of how he grew up. You’d never give up on him, of course, but it didn’t mean it wouldn’t hurt when he pushed you away or pretended to not care...
Damian thought it was obvious, that his actions actually reflected how much you meant to him. That without you, he’d be lost and honestly wouldn’t want to live in a world where you weren’t.
But it wasn’t obvious.
Bruce sighed, and then smiled :
“Since when is she acting odd ?”
“This morning. She didn’t kiss me goodbye when she went to work !”
It felt like such a serious issue to your boy, in that instant, that Bruce wished you were there to see his reaction. You’d instantly know he didn’t mean it, when he said you weren’t his mom...
But you couldn’t quite face him. You didn’t really avoid him or try to hurt him by not saying goodbye. Of course not, you were an adult, and you definitely knew that doing to others what was done to you is pointless, and mean. And why hurt someone the same way they hurt you ? You’re no better than them uh...
“Can you think of anything that might’ve upset her ?”
“I spilled my milk a little, but cleaned it after. I didn’t let Alfred do it like last time. I woke up a minute late, too. Jason hasn’t called in two days, but he was there yesterday afternoon. Dick said she messed up her pumpkin soup but he was just joking and she knows. Tim fell asleep at the breakfast table. You clinging to her this morning apparently made her late, I heard Alfred say it. Um...Cass um...Cass didn’t do anything bad really...None of those things sound like it would upset her though ! She really looked sad this morning, not like herself at all !”
Bruce couldn’t help but smile. It was pretty cute, how Damian often acted as if he didn’t care about anything, yet no details would ever go past him. Especially not when it came to his family. He always noticed, when one of them felt down in any way, and tried to help (in his own way).
Hell, he probably woke Tim up and told him to sleep more and take care of himself. Called Jason and told him to call his mom. Scolded Dick to not make this kind of jokes again.
This was just the Damian that was privy only to them. A sweet child, who unfortunately often had trouble expressing his true feelings.
Just like his father.
Damian would often brag about his siblings, and how awesome they were, to his friends (notably to Jon, who didn’t have any siblings). But he’d never tell them right in front of their face.
Bruce tried to help Damian see what was wrong, and said :
“What about last night ?”
“Ugh ? What about last n-OH !”
Damian replayed the events in his head, and remembered his anger and frustration. But most importantly...What he told his mom.
“I have to find mom ! Where is she ?!”
Damian looked absolutely panicked, which was quite unlike him. Bruce answered :
“She’s at work, she had a meeting with her editor. She should be back soon, though.”
And on that note, Damian ran out to do god knew what, as Bruce shook his head and...Well, he just knew things would turn out alright.
************
Alfred almost fainted, when he saw Damian tear off his beautiful flowers from his garden. He almost ran out, and had a very “get off my lawn !” moment...up until he realized that the boy was probably doing this for a reason.
Oh. Oh his poor lilies.
Hopefully, this really was for a good reason. A very good one. One so good, that it would stop him from strangling his grandkid, hopefully...
************
When you came home, Damian was waiting for you at the front door. He had a bunch of lilies in his hands (that you were pretty sure were from Alfred’s precious garden) and he looked absolutely frantic.
He ran to you, almost threw the flowers in your arms, and yelled :
“I’M SORRY I DIDN’T MEAN IT !! YOU ARE MY REAL MOM ! I WAS JUST ANGRY ! I’M SORRY !!”
You were a little confused as to why he was yelling, but before you could continue he took a drawing out of his pocket and added :
“THIS IS A DRAWING OF YOU ! I MADE IT FOR YOU !! YOU ARE MY MOM ! YOU REALLY ARE ! PLEASE FORGIVE ME !! I’M SORRY !! DO NOT BE MAD AT ME !!”
Still confused as to why he was screaming, you bend down to look at him eye level, settled the flowers on the floor, and said :
“It’s ok Damian. It’s ok. We all get frustrated sometimes...I won’t lie and say it didn’t hurt, but it’s ok. It happens.”
Damian’s face showed great relief, and he leaped into your arms, yelling :
“I LOVE YOU !!”
You winced as he screamed in your ear, and said :
“Why are you yelling, little one ?”
Damian took a step back from you and said :
“BECAUSE I HAVE TROUBLE EXPRESSING MYSELF AND JASON TOLD ME THAT SAYING THINGS IN AN AGGRESSIVE WAY MIGHT HELP !! AND HE’S RIGHT !! I LOVE YOU !!”
Damian told you he loved you before, in certain moments. When he got really hurt, when you were really hurt, if he felt really sad...It was always a moment full of emotions. And it was still rather hard for him to say the words.
It didn’t really surprise you that Jason would have such a technique. Yelling his feelings. Yep. Sounds like him alright. And it did seem like it worked for his little brother too.
Only you and your close family would know, because you were the only ones to truly know him, but those two were more similar than others would think. And it wasn’t because they already killed before. Oh no. On the contrary.
“I love you too, my little one...”
You say, as he goes back for another hug, clearly relieved you’re not mad at him. From this day on, he swore to himself that he would really try to tell others’ what he truly felt, even if it meant yelling it at them. Because other wise...otherwise it’d create this sort of terrible situations, in which his mom thought he didn’t think of her as his mom !
He couldn’t have it, anymore. Many “I LOVE YOU !!” were heard in the Manor, from that point on.
DUKE
“You know you can tell me anything, right ?”
Duke doesn’t know why this time, this made him snap.
Today was the anniversary of when his parents got “jokerize”, it had been two years already...And not one step closer to cure them ! He was so frustrated, sad, and lost. And you noticed.
Duke tend to try to keep things inside. Not that he didn’t want to bother anyone, more like he just thought he HAD to handle things himself. Like it would make him stronger, and therefor, he could protect those he cares about.
He could protect them, unlike when he could do nothing but watch as his parents fell into madness...He couldn’t bear the thought of this happening to you, Bruce, or any member of this family ! Not again.
He couldn’t bear it...
“You’re not even my mom ! Stop acting like you are !”
Are the words he heard himself scream at you as you asked him if everything was ok, and if he needed to talk. As you were caring, once again, and he just couldn’t...he couldn’t stand it ! Not today.
Not today.
He immediately saw on your face the way you shut down, and took one step behind. The way your face “closed”, and as you said : “I understand.” and left the room, your body stiff and your face inexpressive (which was very unlike you), Duke felt it.
The guilt.
Right away.
When those dreaded words were said by all your other kids, they were young. They were all under the age of ten, and the immediate consequences of their actions didn’t truly registered.
But Duke.
Duke was almost eighteen. And he knew. He knew he hurt you.
He felt the need to run after you and apologized, but there was something stopping him.
After all, it was true right, you weren’t his mom ! His mom was still alive, and she could be cured one day ! HE ALREADY HAVE A MOM !
So what if you always cooked him his favorite meal, or knew exactly what his favorite food was ? So what if you would go out of your way to grab his favorite burger from his favorite joints when you knew he felt down ?
So what, if you were always there when he was sad ? Cheering him up with comfort food, kind words, and just your presence ?
So what if you knew exactly what would make him feel better, which movie to put on to put a smile on his face ?
So what, if you spend entire night right by his bedside when he got really hurt, or when he was sick ?
So what if you’d listen to him at any time of the day or night, and always took time to give him your thoughts on the matter, and truly, truly listen to what he was saying instead of waiting for your turn to speak ?
So what if you’d make him laugh, smile, feel loved, even as he felt so alone and isolated, especially after he discovered his powers ?
So what if you never made him feel like he was different because of it ?
So what if you opened your house’s door without a second thought for this unknown teenager who was also a meta ?!
So what...so what...so what if you obviously cared a lot, and if you...if you...
He already had a mom. And she might get better one day.
He couldn’t have two moms.
...
...
Right ?
What would happen when his parents would be cured ? Forget all his feelings for the Waynes ? So it’d be easier to pretend he wasn’t part of the family, right ?
It would be easier.
Yes.
But it was too late.
It was too late...
He ran after you. Caught up with you in the corridor. Tears in his eyes, he said :
“I’m sorry, please don’t go...”
And fell into your arms. Almost eighteen years old, yes, but still needed the support of a mother. Of his mother.
And you were there. You’d always be there, no matter what happened in the future. And he needed you, especially in that moment of frustration, where he really missed his parents, and was starting to lose hope to ever find a cure...
And you were there.
Who ever made a rule that you could have only one mom anyway, right ?
BRUCE
They did tell him “you’re not my dad !” too. And for him, it was as terrible as for you. If not worst, on certain aspect. Especially since he had a hard times truly expressing his feelings more often than not.
He knows how devastating it can feel. He knows it even more, because not only did he feel it as they told him “you’re not my dad !”, but he also felt it as he told Alfred “you’re not my dad !”. He knew the feelings from both sides.
It enhanced everything.
Of course, in general, Bruce always felt things more than anyone else around him. He was born like that. Hypersensitive. That’s why he worked so much on hiding his true feelings, and appearing detached and cold.
It’s much easier, than to always being overemotional. Of course, it didn’t mean he felt nothing. On the contrary, he felt everything. He was just better, nowadays, at pretending he was okay. At pretending he didn’t care.
Ah. But you existed.
You.
The only person that could always see through his bullshit, and know when he was lying and fake smiling.
Between the two of you, there has always been something. Even before you were together. It was an irrational and irresistible attraction.
An unbreakable bond. Always supporting each others.
You have no idea how you’d live without him. And he couldn’t even fathom a world without you. It’s a world he wouldn’t like very much...
Even during the worst times, and oh you went through a lot together, you knew at least...at least you’d have warm arms to fall asleep in. At least, you’d have each others.
Bruce had known pain so strong he sometimes wished death would just take him away. And then you came in. Ready to put up with his shit, and to not give up on him even when he gave you every reason to.
And oh, oh he gave you back everything times a thousand. You knew he’d never let you fall. Not alone.
Whenever something hurtful as your children telling you two you weren’t their real parents happened...It’s when you truly realized how vital you were to each others.
When you fell, Bruce was there to catch you.
When he fell, you were there to catch him.
Better to fall together, than to stand alone.

A/n: This was a request by an anon - Please can I request that Tommy Shelby’s daughter becomes engaged to a man behind his back and he refuses to acknowledge the engagement while the rest of the family do. After six months, just before the wedding, Tommy finally comes around to the idea... So, I added a few things to this request, I hope you still like it! I was just going to do the scene that the anon requested but I personally love writing who stories and backgrounds and shit so you get to see an entire life at Tommy’s daughter with the request included! Oh, and John doesn’t die cause fuck that.

You were the ultimate daddy’s girl. From the moment you were born you and your father were inseparable. The only thing that tore you apart was the war. You were barely two years old when he went off to serve his country.
When he left he entrusted Polly to look after you. Of course she treated you as if you were her own. She protected you as fiercely as she protected your father, uncles and aunt. Especially when your Aunt Kitty, Kitty Jurossi, showed up demanding that you were to go with her.
Kitty is your mother’s sister. She never approved of Greta being with Tommy. While Tommy taking care of Greta in her final days and loving her as he did was honorable, Kitty knew what kind of man he is. She knew what kind of family he had, what kind of business he partook in. She didn’t want you around them.
Polly always thought it was amusing how Kitty waited until Tommy was out of country to try and collect you. Kitty wrongfully assumed that Polly would just hand you over. Your mother’s sister was lucky she was able to return to her home with her life, especially when she tried to forcefully take you.
You remembered that day very vaguely. You don’t remember what happened but you remembered the yelling, someone grabbing you painfully and how scared you were. Your father had just left you for the longest time in your life and now this woman was trying to take you from the person you considered your mother.
The years without your father were long and unmemorable. When he finally returned home you were five going on six. You waited on the train platform with Polly, Ada and Finn. Polly kept a tight hold on you as the soldiers came off the train and went to their families.
You tried to find him but you were far too short and all of them were wearing the same uniform and cap. You jumped in your spot just itching to run into his arms. It didn’t matter that you didn’t really remember specific details of him. You remembered the feeling you had with him. You remembered being safe and happy with him. You remembered being sad and lonely without him. You’d rather be safe and happy than the other part.
“There they are!” Ada shouts. Your head darts to where she was pointing. When you spotted him not even Polly was able to hold you back.
You remember him shoving his way through the others to get to you. When you were close he dropped to his knees and pulled you into his arms. You clung to him.
Then, just like before he left, the two of you were inseparable once again. The only time you weren’t together was when you were sleeping (although on rough nights you often found your way in his bed) or when he had dangerous Peaky business.
You were the Shelby princess. You were untouchable. You didn’t figure out how much you could get away with until you were older. You could murder his best friend - not that you ever killed anyone - and the longest he’d stay mad at you would be a few hours, a day at most.
Anything you wanted was yours. You were spoiled but you were also kind and generous. You had bratty streaks but who didn’t? You may have been the light of your father’s life but you were John’s partner in crime. Whenever his own kids got too much or he wanted to pick on his brother’s you were the one he came too.
As much as he did truly enjoy spending time with you, John also knew that with you by his side he wouldn’t get into as much trouble as he would without you. All you had to do was give your pretty little smile and bat those eyelashes and Tommy was wrapped around your finger.
Even when your siblings came into the world you were number one. You didn’t exactly like Charlie, not Grace, at first. They stole your father’s attention, something you weren’t used to sharing. Eventually you warmed up to them.
You were sad when Grace died but not nearly to the extreme as your father. His heart break broke your own heart. You felt as if nothing you did eased his pain. In reality, you were the one person keeping him from completely spiraling. He spiraled but just being with you managed to slowly bring him back.
You were a little more welcoming toward Lizzie and then Ruby. By the time Ruby came around you adored Charlie. Ruby quickly wiggled her way into your heart. You became fiercely protective of them. You helped Lizzie with them when Tommy got too busy. When you needed a break you joined your father to the office and he would continue explaining what he did.
To you, life was perfect. You had everything you needed and everything you wanted. Tommy kept you in the business just enough to satisfy you but not enough to put you directly in danger. You didn’t understand a lot of the politics and drama within the family but to you it didn’t matter. You had your family, you had your fun, and life was great.
Then, as you were creeping up on your mid-twenties, you met the man you wanted to spend the rest of your life with. You were in the market with Lizzie, Polly, and Ruby. You had wandered a bit from the others. There was some jewelry you were looking at when he came over.
He was tall, muscular, and extremely handsome. He had a boyish smile and a flirtatious personality. It didn’t take you long to also figure out that he was clumsy and adorable. You were instantly hooked.
You two talked (flirted) for longer than you thought. Before you knew it Polly, Lizzie and Ruby were rejoining you. Polly was weary of him but it was obvious that he quickly won Lizzie over.
Much to your displeasure, once the three of them showed up you were quickly whisked away from him. Polly had said it was time to go and not many people were brave enough to argue with her.
Even on the way home you thought about him. You hoped that you would see him again but you figured it was unlikely.
Word got around about you meeting Mr. Handsome at the market. Your uncles teased you and Ada interrogated you. Your father was oddly quiet on the other hand. He didn’t want to talk about it, so he didn’t. He just hoped that your paths wouldn’t cross again.
Tommy knew you were getting older but that didn’t mean he liked it. He wanted you to stay his little girl for a while longer. He wished you were still small enough to ride on his shoulders and small enough for him to engulf you in his arms. But you were growing into a beautiful young lady. Whether he liked it or not other men were bound to recognize your beauty and seek you out. He had been lucky, for the most part, about your disinterest in dating, but it wasn’t going to last.
Most of the women your age were already married with at least one child. You were content by yourself. You were gaining responsibilities with the business and being your father’s personal helper. Even though you were content you wanted more. You wanted your own family to come home to with your own kids.
Fortunately, for Tommy, you wouldn’t see the boy from the market for quite some time. It had been so long you had forgotten about him. Until suddenly he showed back up.
The Shelby’s were having a night at the fights. You were enjoying yourself. You didn’t get dolled up often but when you did you went all out. You felt beautiful thus making you feel confident. On top of that, everyone knew exactly who you were which meant heads turned in your direction everywhere you went. You felt important, untouchable.
You sat with your aunt Ada, Aunt Polly, and step mother Lizzie. The three of you were talking amongst yourselves while the boys hollered at the match in front of them. When the fighters changed out you happened to look up and there he was.
Ada had been talking to you but you suddenly stopped listening. He was bigger, more muscular, than you remember. He didn’t seem as clumsy anymore yet he was just as handsome.
“Y/n,” Ada shouts over the crowd.
“Oh, will you look at that,” Lizzie states looking at who you were staring at.
“Who’s he?” Ada questions. Lizzie reminds her about the guy from the market you had met over a year prior. You continued to ignore them.
Right before the match started his eyes connected with yours. He obviously recognized you. He sent you the same boyish smile he had in the market causing a light blush to come to your cheeks. He bravely sent you a wink before focusing on the fight.
Your eyes remained glued on him with Tommy’s eyes started at you. He had noticed the interaction and didn’t like it in the slightest.
When the match ended, with his unfortunate loss, you excused yourself to the loo. You weren’t fooling anybody. Everyone who paid attention knew where you were going and Tommy had half a mind to stop you when something grabbed his attention. The split second his attention was off of you gave you the time you needed to disappear into the crowd.
“H/n,” You say, standing in the doorway of the locker room. You were slightly nervous - a lot nervous - but you weren’t 100% sober so that helped. His head snapped up at the sound of your voice.
“Y/n,” He says, turning away from his locker and toward you. “Shelby,” He adds. You hadn’t told him who you were. It was obvious he hadn’t known back then and you wanted to keep it that way.
“In the flesh,” You gave him a twirl. “You fought well tonight,”
“I lost,” He deadpanned but didn’t look all that bothered by it..
“Caught me attention,” You told him.
“Guess it wasn’t a complete loss then, aye?” He smirks. “How about you make me a winner tonight and agree to a date?” You blushed.
“I can do that,” You agreed.
From there your relationship blossomed. The two of you fell for each other quickly. He started showing up around the family more. Your uncles hazed him, Ada and Polly constantly interrogated him, and your father silently judged him. No matter how hard you or H/n tried, your father never came around.
H/n didn’t care about Tommy’s disapproval of him. He loved you with all his heart and nobody was going to keep you from him. He may be funny, charismatic and handsome but he knew he was selfish with a side of possessive. In his mind, you were his and he wasn’t letting you go. He would do anything to keep you and to keep you happy.
It honestly was no surprise that less than a year later the two of you were engaged. He had taken you out on a picnic under the stars on a beach. You had dinner, went swimming and had a fire in the sand. While stargazing he proposed with a beautiful ring. You didn’t hesitate to say yes.
The next day, as you two were makin breakfast, you asked how your father handled him asking for permission when H/n told you he never asked. It shocked you that H/n didn’t talk to Tommy first. You knew when it came to your father H/n was a little rebellious but this was different. Honestly, you were a bit upset he didn’t speak with Tommy first.
It hadn’t even been twenty four hours since your engagement and the two of you were thrown into a fight. A minor one but a fight nonetheless. He didn’t see why it mattered seeing as the two of you were getting married with or without his permission. You argued that it wasn’t his permission you were looking for but your blessing. H/n didn’t understand just how close you and Tommy are but you wished he would at least respect it.
Eventually, he apologized when he finally noticed just how important Tommy’s approval meant to you. You promised H/n that you would marry him no matter what but keeping it from your father was not an option. H/n promised to talk to him.
A few days passed and then a week. H/n still didn’t talk to Tommy. You were fed up and decided to do it yourself. When you arrived at the Arrow House all you found were Lizzie and Ruby.
Ruby instantly spotted the ring. You desperately wanted to talk to Tommy first but since you weren’t getting passed you sister not Lizzie you conceded.
“So, when did he pop the question?” Ruby asked.
“About two weeks ago,” You answered, a large smile on your face. “He asked me on the beach under the stars,” Ruby swooned but Lizzie didn’t seem to be paying attention anymore. You looked at her. You tensed noticing her looking behind you. Slowly, you turned around and saw your father standing there.
His eyes stare into your eyes and for the first time in your life you can’t figure out what he was thinking. He seemed emotionless but you couldn’t tell if the look in his eyes was anger or disappointment. His eyes glanced down at your hand, at your ring.
“Dad, I-” You didn’t get a chance to explain. He turned around and walked out of the house. You were shocked. He never did that to you. He always let you speak no matter what he was feeling. When you snapped out of it you quickly went after him but he was already in the car driving down the road. “Dad! Wait, please!” But he just keeps driving.
“He’ll come around,” Ruby tries to comfort but her words just go in one ear and right out the other.
For weeks your father avoided you like the plague. You walked into a room, he walked out. You tried to talk, he talked over you. You tried to get his attention, he ignored you. You tried for over a month before deciding to give him some space and focus on planning your wedding.
With the help of Ada, Ruby, Polly, and Esme you planned the wedding. Every day you got a step closer to the date. Every day you got more excited. Yet one thing continued to dampen your mood.
“Y/n, come in,” Esme greets, stepping aside to let you into her home.
“Is John here? I want to talk to him,” You say, fiddling with your fingers nervously. Esme smiles kindly and nods.
“Why don’t you have a seat and I’ll fetch him,” She suggests before disappearing into the house. You walk into the parlor. You smile and play with your cousins for a bit before John finally joins you.
“I wanted to ask you something,” You say after he shoos the kids away. He gives you his attention. You take in a deep breath as tears mist over your eyes. He looks more concerned by the second. “I was wondering if you... would walk me down the aisle,” John frowns his eyebrows.
“You want me?” He asks, shocked. “What about Tom-”
“He hasn’t spoken to me for months,” You snap, struggling to keep your tears from falling. “He can hardly look at me or stand to be in the same room. I think it’s safe to say he’s not coming,” You try to sound angry but curse silently when your voice grows more shaky. John sighs.
“Come here, sweetheart,” He opens his arms and you quickly close the distance between the two of you. He holds you tightly as you cry in his chest. “Tommy’s being a right arse at the moment, everyone knows that,” He mutters. “But nothing in the world is going to stop him from walking you down that aisle,”
“H/n being at the end of it might,” You mutter. John laughs quietly.
“Love, if Tommy really hated H/n, he would be dead by now,” John says truthfully. You see the logic in his statement but it hardly lifts your spirits.
“The wedding is in two weeks,” You whisper. “He hasn’t budged yet,”
“I want you to do something for me,” John says, pulling back just enough to look at your face and wipe your tears. “I want you to think through your entire life and tell me a time where you didn’t get your way with Tommy,” John challenges. “I’m not even going to wait because it never bloody happened,” You smile a bit. “Now, this has been the longest you’ve had to wait for him to come around but trust me, he is incapable of not doing what you want,”
“Will you still be on standby?” You ask him. He smirks and kisses your forehead.
“Of course,” He whispers. “Bloody hell, has anyone said no to you before?” He asks, smirking as he steps away from you.
“What can I say? I’m everyone’s sweetheart,” You smile. John rolls his eyes and offers for you to stay for dinner, which you accept.
When you returned home you noticed H/n was home as well. You had moved out of Arrow house before the engagement, something your father strongly disagreed with.
When you walked inside, H/n was waiting up for you. You hadn’t meant to be home so late. It’s just when you’re with John and his kids they just make the time fly by. Luckily, H/n didn’t seem upset just tired.
“Come here,” He mutters, opening his arms. You smile and settle in his lap enjoying the feeling of his thick arms wrapped around your body. “Were you at Arrow House?” He asks.
“No, I went to see Uncle John,” You tell him. He hums curiously. “I wanted to ask if he’d walk me down the aisle,” You whisper. H/n holds you tighter.
“I’m sorry, Y/n,” He whispers to you. “I shouldn’t have proposed without asking for his blessing or at least mentioning it to him,”
“No, you shouldn’t have,” You grumbled before sighing. “But this is much more than that. Something else is bothering him,”
“You’re his precious girl, he’ll talk eventually,” He reassures you. You don’t respond, you simply cuddle deeper into his embrace.
A week passed. You had five days until your wedding. You woke up excited as you daydreamed about the day. However, your happiness didn’t last.
BRITIAN     AT    WAR    WITH    GERMANY
Your father and uncles had fought in the first war. The supposed ‘war to end all wars’. Now, only a short few years later there was another war. A war the next generation would fight. A war your H/n volunteered to join.
You were in the kitchen cleaning up. You were doing everything you could to keep buys. Britain was officially at war and you were terrified. You knew everything was going to change. Deep down you knew it would happen but it didn’t register until he was right in front of you.
“When do you leave?” You whisper, desperately trying to stay together as you look at H/n. He was in his uniform with papers in his hand.
“Thursday,” H/n hesitantly whispers. You close your eyes and hang your head. Not only was your soon-to-be husband going off to fight this war but he was leaving before your wedding. On top of that, you only had two more days with him.
“Why do you have to leave?” You whimpered. He doesn’t answer. He just closes the gap between the two of you and pulls you into a tight hug. He hugged you as if he could single handedly keep you from falling apart.
“I will come back to you, Y/n Shelby,” He states firmly. “Heaven nor hell will keep me from you, you have me word,”
“I love you,” You whisper, clinging to him. He pulls back just enough to tilt your head up to his lips. He doesn’t verbally respond but he tries to pour all his love and determination to return to you in the breathtaking kiss.
You cling to him for as long as you can but eventually have to let him go. While he didn’t leave until Thursday he had much to get done before then. He promised he would be back in a few hours but you didn’t want to be alone.
The first thing you did was go to Polly. You froze when you saw her drying her cheeks. Finn had volunteered as well. Together you both cried.
Finn might have technically been your uncle but he was more of a brother. There was only a few years difference between the two of you. Polly had raised you both. You hated that you could possibly not only lose H/n but Finn as well.
Luckily Charlie was still too young to join but only for another year. You had no doubt that he would join up the first chance he got. He’s Tommy’s son. Neither of them were good at backing down.
When you left Polly you went to Arrow House. You were done. You were done with your father’s stubbornness. You were done with his silence and his judgmental stares. He could be mad about the wedding all he wanted but you needed him to come back to you.
“Did H/n..?” Lizzie’s voice dissipates. She didn’t want to finish the question and she didn’t have too. You just nod and accept her comforting hug. You’ve cried the majority of the day and knew you weren’t done yet. You knew the second you went face to face with Tommy you’d fall apart all over again.
“Where is he?” You ask.
“In his office,” Lizzie says knowing exactly who you were wanting. “Most likely on his second bottle by now,” You sighed, rubbing your face tiredly. “I’ll make some tea,” You send her a smile and a nod.
You don’t even bother to knock, you rarely did. There wasn’t a room you knew about that you weren’t welcome into. Inside you found your father slouched in his chair with a full glass in his hands. He doesn’t bother to look at you. You don’t even know if he registers your presence.
“I don’t know what you’re so mad at me about,” You began. Your voice sounded strong and you hoped it stayed that way. “Yes, H/n asked me to marry him. No, I didn’t know at the time that he didn’t talk to you but get over it. You haven’t made his time in this family easy, no wonder he doesn’t want to talk to you.
“When you found out you found out too soon. I was there to talk to you about it but Ruby and Lizzie saw me first. This wasn’t something I wanted to keep from you, I never meant to hurt you. I’m sorry,” You whisper. Hope fills you a bit when he glances at you in the corner of his eye. “I know something else is bothering you but I don’t know what it is and I need you to work it out some how because I need you, dad,” You whimper.
He finally looks at you.
“These last few months have been so hard without you and now H/n is going off to war, I’m not sure if I’m even going to get married, and you still won’t fucking talk to me!” You shouted but the tears in your eyes betrays your anger. “I’m scared out of my mind I’m going to lose H/n, that I’m going to lose Finn... That I already lost you,” A few tears fall down your face. “I’m sorry for whatever I did, please forgive me because I need you so fucking back,”
By the end you were close to sobbing and falling to you knees. You sobbed but you never fell. Tommy was out of his seat and was wrapping his arms around you before your knees could give away.
He leads you to the couch and sits down. You curl into his chest like you used to do when you were younger. He hums quietly and rocks you.
“You didn’t lose me, darling girl,” He whispers to you. “I’m so sorry for the way I’ve acted. I should have never treated you like I have. No, I don’t like H/n but not because of who he is but because he’s taking my little girl from me,” You tilt your head to look at him. “For nearly 26 years you have been the center of my world,” He whispers quietly. “Through everything, you have been the most important constant in my life. There were many times you were my only source of happiness, my only will to live,” He admits. “I’m terrified of what I’ll do without you,”
“You’ll never be without me,” You whisper to him. “I live ten minutes away and you’ll still see me daily whether H/n likes it or not,” Tommy smiles a bit. “And maybe when the war is over you’ll have more mini me’s running around,” Tommy scowls at the thought of the process of making children rather than the thought of the actual kids.
“You’re happy with him?” You nod. “You love him and he loves you?” You nod again. “Has he hurt you?” You shake your head. He sighs, slightly frustrated with the lack of reason to murder H/n. Not that he really needed a reason but he knew if he did he would hurt you. He’s already hurt you enough as it is. “Then you have my blessing,” You smile at him.
“He leaves before the wedding,” You whisper. He shrugs.
“So, move the wedding up,” He says nonchalantly.
“How are we going to set everything up before Thursday?” You ask. He smirks.
“You don’t worry about a thing,” He kisses your forehead. “Let me call Ada, Pol, and Esme. They’ll help you get ready and I’ll worry about the rest,”
“You avoided this wedding the entire time, now you’re going to plan in within a few hours?” You ask.
“I’m Thomas Shelby,” He said as if it were the cure to all diseases. “Up you get,” He gently pushes you out of his lap. “No worrying,” He points at you before kissing your forehead again.
“Who’s going to want to celebrate at a time like this?” You ask before he leaves. He turns toward you and smiles softly.
“Right now is the perfect time to celebrate a moment like this,” Tommy tells you. You can see the honesty in his eyes and can tell he’s briefly reliving the past. You hate that his past is always haunting him and you pray that you’ll be able to help H/s if... when he comes back to you. “Relax, get ready, and I’ll see you in a few hours.”
It didn’t take long for Ada, Polly and Esme to show up. Polly had your dress and Ada had your accessories. The three of them with Lizzie and Ruby helped you get ready for the wedding.
As you got ready, Tommy went to your home where he found H/n just returning. It was obvious that he was surprised to see Tommy but he invited his future in-law inside nonetheless.
“I was a few years younger than you when I was shipped off to France,” Tommy explained to him. “When I returned I wasn’t the same. Nobody who goes through what we went through, what you will go through, returns the same,” Tommy warns. “Y/n was five or six when I got back. She helped give me a reason to keep waking up, to keep moving. When you come back, you’ll need someone that will be able to anchor you into the present. Don’t push people away, especially Y/n... She won’t let you,” Tommy advises with a soft smile as he thinks about you.
“I won’t,” H/s vows.
“You say that now but I promise it’ll be very tempting when you return,” Tommy says. Casually, Tommy walks closer. “Everyone that returns deals with the past differently. I won’t judge you for the drinks you’ll have or even the drugs you may take,” Tommy shrugs. “But if you come back and you turn violent again Y/n at any point. If you so much as hurt her one time, I will personally dig your grave and put you in it,” Tommy promises. “You will come back, you’ll deal with it however you can, and you’ll take care of Y/n and the family you’ll have. If you can’t do that, don’t marry her and walk away now.”
“I love you daughter. I want her happy and I’ll give my life to keep her safe,” H/s vows.
“Good,” Tommy nods. “That’s my little girl. Her happiness is everything to me. You give me one reason to kill you and I promise you and whatever god is out there that I will take that chance,”
“Understood,” H/n slowly nods.
“Good,” Tommy nods again. “Well, let’s get going, you’re getting married in a few hours,” Tommy says walking toward the door. He pulls out a cigarette and begins to light it.
“I am?” H/n calls out confused. Tommy just keeps walking and H/n jogs to catch up.
A few hours later, John and Arthur show up to collect the women.
“Your chariot awaits madam,” Arthur announces loudly. You couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear as he leads you to the car. John winks at you playfully.
“Told you he’d come around,” John teased.
“Should have cried in front of him sooner, that usually does the trick,” You joke back. John grins wider and kisses your head.
“Alright! Let’s get a move on, we’ve got a wedding to get too!” Arthur hollers. When you arrive where the rest of the gypsies and Peaky Blinders are, they cheer for your arrival.
Tommy greets you at the car looking handsome as ever.
“I hope I’m still allowed to walk you down,” He mutters helping you out of the car.
“Of course,” You smile leaning into him. He kisses your head and leads you toward the aisle. At the end you find H/s standing there looking breathtaking. “I’m scared,” You whisper.
“That’s alright,” He promises, slowly walking you toward your future husband. “There’s going to be moment where you’re scared but there will never be a moment where you’re alone,” He tells you. You tighten your arm around his. “These last few months will never happen again,” He vows. “I’ll be there anytime and every time you need me,”
“I know,” You whisper.
When you reach the end, Tommy turns toward you. You smile up at him. He gently cups the side of your face.
“I love you,” He whispers, gently kissing your forehead. His lips linger as he remembers the day you were born, the day he left and came back from the war. He remembered every moment he shared with you. He hated that future memories would be shared with H/n but as long as you were there he wouldn’t mind.
“I love you too,” You whisper back, basking in the warmth and safety of his embrace for a moment longer. Tommy hesitantly steps back. You both share a smile before he hands you off to your soon-to-be husband.

The Mysterious Case of Jaskier's Immortality
Word count: 3601
*
“So nice to see you again, Yennefer,” Jaskier says, putting on one of his many fake smiles.
“Jaskier,” she replies with a smile that almost looks genuine but Jaskier is pretty sure that it’s not. Which she confirms a few seconds later by saying: “Shouldn’t you be dead already?”
“I see you’re as kind as always, my dear. But don’t you worry, Geralt is doing a very good job when it comes to protecting me.”
“Hm,” Geralt sighs resignedly, clearly regretting his decision to spend the night in an inn instead of the middle of a forest.
To be fair, it was Jaskier who suggested it, claiming that he refused to be eaten by angry drowners, no matter how many times Geralt tried to explain to him that the probability of finding a drowner in the middle of a very dry forest is extremely low.
If Jaskier knew they were going to run into Yennefer in the inn, he would have risked the drowners.
“I don’t doubt that,” Yennefer smirks. “But seriously, how old are you, bard?”
“No idea. I stopped counting after fifty, I think.”
“You know, you don’t look fifty,” she says.
“Oh, well, my mother had an elf lover before I was born, so there’s a fifty-fifty chance that I’m not gonna age anytime soon. Sorry,” Jaskier smiles again, sweetly – and this time, it’s genuine.
“As if,” Geralt grunts.
“I’m sorry, dear?” Jaskier blinks.
“Come on, Jaskier, it doesn’t work like that. You’re a viscount, that means your father must have been a viscount, too.”
“You don’t know much about nobility, do you, Geralt?” Yennefer snorts.
“Hm,” Geralt grunts. “Still, he’s not a half-elf.”
“Let me guess, you’re a Witcher, therefore you could smell it if I was? I hate to break it to you, dear heart, but you’re going to have your nose checked.”
“You’re not a half-elf, Jaskier,” Geralt repeats. “You’re not immortal, you just… look young.”
“Yeah, right, you got me,” Jaskier shrugs. “I just look good because I moisturize. Happier now?”
“Much,” Geralt nods. “See? You can be honest if you want.”
“Yup,” Jaskier nods. “Honesty personified. Now please excuse me, I need to go and moisturize some more. Internally. With ale.”
*
“I’m actually a mermaid, you know?” Jaskier grins the next time he’s asked, this time by a very confused and very old Valdo Marx.
“A siren, Jaskier. Not a mermaid,” Geralt sighs, praying to Melitele to give him strength. “And you’d know that, of course, if you actually were a siren.”
“Just so you know, the term siren is actually quite offensive to my people.”
“You mean idiots?” Geralt chuckles. “You’re not a siren, Jask.”
“Can you prove that I’m not?”
“Well, last week you tripped and fell into this creek that was like… knee-deep, and you nearly drowned.”
“I was in shock!” Jaskier proclaims dramatically. “But I have a proof that I am, or at least could be a siren.”
“What proof?”
“Well, my lovely voice, of course!”
“Not as lovely as you think it is,” Valdo Marx snorts.
“Come on, Jaskier,” Geralt sighs, ignoring the old troubadour. “You have much better voice that any siren I’ve ever heard.”
“Geralt of Rivia!” Jaskier gasps, clutching his chest. “Was that a compliment?!”
“Fuck,” Geralt mutters. “I didn’t mean…”
“Really though, Jaskier,” Valdo says. “How?”
“That’s a secret I’ll take to the grave, I’m afraid,” Jaskier grins. “Once I manage to reach it.”
“Keep on with the bullshit, Jaskier,” Geralt growls, “and you can reach it tonight.”
“Fifty years traveling with him, and he still thinks he can scare me. Cute, isn’t he?” Jaskier laughs. “Oh, Geralt you could never.”
“Try me.”
*
“All right, I’ll tell you my secret,” Jaskier winks at Ciri, who lifts an eyebrow. “I’ve got this neat… magic ring.”
“Hmmm,” Ciri observes. “Looks like a normal signet ring to me.”
“Well… Yeah, well, it looks like it, all right, but actually–”
“Jaskier, I was born a princess. This is clearly a Pankratz family signet ring.”
“Damn,” Jaskier groans. “Like father like daughter, eh?”
“Sorry,” Ciri shrugs.
*
“I got myself cursed.”
Triss Merigold lifts an eyebrow.
“Somebody cursed you to live forever, is that so?” she asks and her voice is almost dripping with disbelief.
“More like cursed me,” Geralt murmurs.
“Oh, shut up, Witcher, you know you couldn’t live without me,” Jaskier smiles brightly, and Geralt has to bite his cheek to stop himself from smiling back.
“Hm,” he says instead.
“Eloquent as ever,” Jaskier nods.
“Would you like me to...” Triss clears her throat. “You know, try to lift the curse?”
“No!” Geralt yells before he can stop himself.
“See?” Jaskier beams. “You could never live without me!”
*
“A bruxa,” Jaskier repeats to a young man who claims to be his son, but looks older than his supposed father.
“You’re not a bruxa, Jaskier!” Geralt whines.
“Excuse me, and how would you know?”
“Because I’m a fucking Witcher?!”
“Well, you’re clearly a fucking horrible Witcher if you haven’t noticed until now!”
“I think I’d notice if you tried to sneak out of the camp at nights to feed,” Geralt comments, crossing his hands. “You can’t even sneak out to take a piss, Jask.”
“Maybe I do that on purpose!”
“Besides, bruxae are mostly women.”
“Mostly being the important word here.”
“Fuck’s sake, Jaskier. You won’t even eat a piece of meat if it’s not so well-done that it’s almost cremated.”
“Do you know how disgusting the blood is, Geralt?!” Jaskier groans, and then immediately blinks when he realizes what he just said. “I meant…”
“Case closed,” Geralt nods, satisfied.
“Oh, dear,” Jaskier mutters. “I fucking hate you sometimes.”
“Uhm, my lords, if I may,” the young man says.
“Hate to break it to you, kid, but if you’re aging like a normal human, you’re probably not my son,” Jaskier shrugs. “Sorry. I get it why your mum might be confused, though. It was quite a night, with at least four–”
“And that’s enough,” Geralt says, grabbing Jaskier by the collar and pulling him away from the man. “You know, lifting the curse seems like a good idea now.”
“There isn’t really a curse, Geralt,” Jaskier laughs.
Geralt sighs, his lips curling into a tiny smile that Jaskier cannot see.
“Thank fuck.”
*
“You see, we were in a crazy mage’s tower and I saw this bottle and I thought it was slivovitz, so I drank it, but it seems that it actually was some sort of an immortality potion,” Jaskier explains to a lady at the ball, whose grandmother he’d apparently fucked once, when said grandmother was still a young, unmarried woman.
Geralt only blinks, because it’s the first truly plausible explanation for Jaskier’s mysterious immortality.
“Oh, that must be so horrible to watch everyone you love die!” the woman nods enthusiastically. “Perhaps you’d like to tell me about it in private?”
“Of course, my dear…” Jaskier smiles. “Just… wait a second. How old is your mother?”
“Forty-seven, why?”
Jaskier’s lips are moving silently for a few seconds while he counts, and then thy turn into a wide grin.
“No reason, dear,” he says, offering her his arms. “Shall we?”
When Jaskier and the lady flee the ball, Geralt pulls out his flask of White Gull and pours its contents into his empty tankard.
So, a potion…
*
“There is no such thing as an immortality potion, Geralt,” Yennefer shakes her head.
“How can you be so sure?” Geralt asks. “Maybe this mage really did find a way to at least make the human life longer!”
“And why would he do that?” Yennefer scoffs. She has been doing that a lot since she finally ended their relationship for good about twenty years ago. (He later found out that she had left him for none other than Triss Merigold, but Yennefer still doesn’t know that he knows, and he’s having way too much fun with it to break the fact to her. So right now, he is pretending he doesn’t notice that Triss is eavesdropping on their conversation behind the door leading to Yennefer’s bedroom, and that he absolutely believed Yen when she claimed that the loud thud a few minutes ago was caused by a cat.) “We are immortal, Geralt, unless killed. There is no reason for any of us to make a potion that would make a human live forever.”
“Well, perhaps this mage fell in love with a human and wanted them to stay with him!”
Yennefer pauses, inspecting Geralt from head to toe and back again, and then she sighs.
“Oh, Geralt. Really?”
“Really what?” Geralt blinks, genuinely confused.
“Oh,” Yennefer murmurs. “Oh, no. Really?”
“Really what, Yen?”
“You mean you don’t… Oh, dear gods. Really?”
“Yen, I swear that I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Geralt grunts, frowning.
Yennefer rolls her eyes and tries counting to ten to calm herself down. She doesn’t even get to three before Geralt’s eyes go wide.
“Oh,” he whispers. “Fuck.”
“Fuck, indeed, Geralt,” she nods solemnly. “Fuck, indeed.”
*
“I found a djinn, he granted me a wish,” Jaskier says when Geralt asks him, about five minutes after his meeting with Yennefer. (He agreed to use a portal to get to the bard as soon as possible. A fucking portal!) The bard is sitting in a tavern and eating his dinner, utterly undisturbed by the sudden appearance of an angrier-than-usual Witcher.
“You never mentioned a djinn,” Geralt growls. “And after your last encounter with one, I sincerely doubt you’d engage with another.”
“You clearly don’t know me at all–”
“Besides, Valdo Marx, as far as I know, had an apoplexy while fucking a young student on his desk, and I don’t think you’d ever let him die like that if you had a choice.”
“You see, that was kind of a my mistake, since I didn’t specify the time and the circumstances of his apoplexy in my wish, so…”
“What was your third wish?”
“Pardon me?”
“Your immortality, Valdo Marx dropping dead, that’s two. What was the third one? And don’t even try to mention the Countess de Stael, since you’d have to dig her up first.”
“That was disgusting, even for you, you know that, Geralt?”
“How are you immortal, Jaskier?!”
“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”
“Try me.”
Jaskier puts a piece of bread in his mouth and grins.
“Maybe some other time, Witcher.”
*
“I am a fae,” Jaskier replies a day later.
“You’re not a fucking fae, bard.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“Because you fucking lie, Jaskier. All the time.”
“Fuck. Didn’t think of that.”
*
“You see, there was this artifact–”
Geralt closes his eyes, turning Roach around.
“Let’s consult Yennefer about this.”
“Oh, mother of…” Jaskier whines. “All right, no artifact, there was no artifact! Geralt, I’m telling you, there was no…”
*
“You’re not a succubus.”
“But it would be a perfect explanation, wouldn’t it?”
“You’re not succubus, because if you were, you’d know that a male one is called an incubus.”
“Oh, you and your stupid Witcher terms again.”
“You’re not an incubus, Jaskier, because if you were, I could never let you near Eskel.”
“All right… Explain, please?”
Geralt grunts.
“I’d really rather not.”
*
“A dragon,” Jaskier grins victoriously.
“No,” Geralt says, shaking his head.
“No,” Jaskier agrees with a sigh.
“You know you could just tell me the truth and be done with it, right?”
“Hm… No.”
*
“All right, enough is enough,” Jaskier growls that night in their rented room, tossing his doublet aside. “You’ve asked me three times today, Geralt. Why the sudden interest in my immortality?”
“As you said, enough is enough. You’ve been traveling with me for what, a hundred years?”
“A hundred and four.”
“Yes, and you still look the same as the day I met you in Posada!” Geralt growls. “And it drives me mad!”
“It wasn’t driving you insane for at least fifty years, so why the sudden change of heart?”
“Fuck off, bard. You don’t have to tell me. I don’t care.”
“But you do, Geralt,” Jaskier says, taking a step towards the Witcher. “Why?”
He’s standing in Geralt’s personal space, his chemise half undone, and he’s watching Geralt with those sincere blue eyes, and Geralt can’t fucking think…
“Because I love you, you idiot!” he snaps. “Because I fucking love you and I need to know if I can love you, or you’re gonna just drop dead one day without a warning!”
“Oh,” Jaskier whispers, his lips forming into a huge, happy smile. “Oh, fucking finally.”
“Fucking… what?” Geralt blinks, his arms suddenly full of an enthusiastic bard.
“I love you too, you silly Witcher,” Jaskier laughs. “I’ve loved you for a hundred years! Well, a hundred and four, but who’s counting?”
“You…” Geralt mutters.
“Silly, silly Witcher,” Jaskier repeats, pressing his lips against Geralt’s in a kiss that could be described as chaste, or at least the chastest Jaskier has ever been capable of. “We’re going to Lettenhove in the morning.”
“We are?”
“Oh, yes,” Jaskier whispers. “See, I’ve told you the truth about the source of my immortality once. But I think you need to see it to believe me.”
“Wait, you have? When?” Geralt asks. “Was it the artifact? Just tell me, I promise I won’t make you consult it with–”
“Shut up now,” Jaskier says, kissing Geralt again with way less chastity than before. “And in the meantime, believe me this – you can keep loving me, and I’m not planning on dropping dead anytime soon. Also, I’ve spent the last hundred years imagining fucking you senseless, so if you’re not opposed to the idea, perhaps we could, well…”
The kiss that this idea gets him is as far from chaste as one could possibly get.
And Jaskier definitely isn’t about to complain.
*
“You sure this is a good idea?” Geralt asks as they march towards the Lettenhove castle’s gates. He tugs at his doublet’s collar, way too tight for his liking. He’d much rather walk in there wearing his usual attire, but Jaskier insisted that Geralt must look presentable if he wants to meet his family.
It turns out that it only takes a single I love you to turn the bard into a manipulative bastard. Who would have guessed?
“Why wouldn’t it be?” Jaskier replies, grinning cheerfully. “And stop frowning, you’re gonna scare the servants, love.”
“How long it’s been since your last visit here, Jaskier?” Geralt says, his frown deepening. “Who rules Lettenhove now, hm? Aren’t you only going to be a distant relative, a great-great-uncle risen from the grave?”
“I sure hope not,” Jaskier chuckles, stopping in front of the guards by the gate. “Good afternoon, gentlemen. Viscount Julian, here to see the Viscountess Madeleine.”
“How can you still be a viscount?” Geralt blinks when one of the guards promptly disappears inside.
“We kind of decided to, you know, share the title,” Jaskier shrugs. “Seemed fair. Besides, father, well, the former viscount, insisted that I inherit the title, but he never mentioned anything about Mads not inheriting it, so…”
“How could your father have known who the viscount is going to be in almost a hundred years?”
“He really didn’t,” Jaskier chuckles. “See, it will all start to make sense once you meet her.”
“Yeah, that’s what I’m hoping for.”
*
The guard returns a few minutes later, telling them that the Viscountess will meet them in the garden.
Geralt, knowing a thing or two about nobility, think it’s a little weird, but isn’t about to protest. He only thinks he could have left the fancy clothes at the tavern.
“Oh, shut up, you,” Jaskier chuckles when Geralt voices this thought. “You look gorgeous.”
“I know. You’ve mentioned it a few times. But I didn’t have to look like that, because we’re going to meet the ruler of this land in a fucking garden, and–”
“Julian!”
A woman in a long white dress throws herself at Jaskier, who happily catches her. Geralt’s first instinct is to reach for his sword, only to realize that he (luckily) left it in the tavern – because Jaskier insisted, of course.
“Madeleine,” Jaskier chuckles. “You haven’t aged a day.”
“Oh, yes. Shocking, isn’t it?” she laughs, pulling away from him, and for the first time, Geralt truly looks at her.
The woman is shorter than Jaskier, slim, and her dress is much, much simpler than Geralt would have expected considering the fact that is supposed to be a viscountess. She has dark, long hair and her face is so beautiful that it almost – but only almost – takes the focus off her pointed ears.
“Lady Madeleine,” Jaskier grins, “may I introduce Geralt of Rivia, my Witcher. Geralt, this is Lady Madeleine, the current ruler of Lettenhove and my younger sister.”
“You’re…” Geralt blinks.
“A half-elf, yes,” she nods. “Julian! You haven’t told him?”
“Hardly my fault. I really tried,” Jaskier shrugs. “But he just wouldn’t believe me.”
“So you brought him here to prove it to him, rather than to visit your beloved sister? You are a horrible, horrible sibling, Julian!”
“Your… sister,” Geralt mutters, all his thoughts speeding through his head, colliding and falling down, one over another.
“Yes, we definitely share a mother,” Jaskier confirms. “Most likely a father, too, and trust me, it wasn’t the old viscount. Madeleine got the elvish looks, I only got the non-aging bit. Well, apparently.”
“But…” Geralt blinks. “Your father. The title.”
“Yen was right, dear heart, you really don’t know shit about nobility,” Jaskier snorts. “But I admit that even though our dear departed noble father knew that Mads wasn’t his daughter, obviously, it never occurred to him that I might not be his true son.”
“But you don’t age!”
“In his defense, that only became clear after his unfortunate passing.”
“And you aren’t going to start to age anytime soon,” Geralt mutters. “You really aren’t.”
“Told you so, didn’t I?” Jaskier winks, letting go of his sister and wrapping his arms around his lover instead.
“I… I…” Geralt stammers. “Fuck.”
“Maybe later, love,” Jaskier smiles. “Madeleine, my dear, wouldn’t you say that my return calls for a feast?”
“Absolutely. In fact, I have started the preparations the second my spies informed me that you have crossed the border.”
“Oh, so we have spies now?”
“It’s really only a net of nosy old ladies, but it works wonders,” Madeleine laughs. “I must admit, though, that I was only planning a feast to celebrate you coming home, but now I see we have a much better reason to party. Tell me, brother, did you finally get your stupid Witcher?”
Jaskier smiles brightly, turning his head to Geralt.
“Yes. I finally got my stupid Witcher.”
“Party,” the Witcher in question growls. “Is that why you made me dress like a pompous prick?”
“No, that was because while I find your usual self extremely attractive, you still look much better when your hair is properly combed and you’re not covered in monster blood.”
“Hm,” Geralt hums, but wraps his arm around the bard to hold him close.
“Oh, yes, about monsters,” Madeleine says with the most innocent expression Geralt has seen since Ciri broke Vesemir’s favorite vase at Kaer Morhen. “You see, we have a tiny problem with a cockatrice…”
“Right,” Geralt nods. “I’ll go grab my armor from the tavern.”
“That won’t be necessary. I have already arranged for your things to be brought to the castle. And your horse,” she adds before Geralt can even open his mouth. “You can leave for your quest as soon as the servants get here.”
“So much for you not being covered in monster blood,” Jaskier sighs.
“Hm,” Geralt grins. “Lady Madeleine, I suppose you happen to have a bathtub somewhere in the castle?”
“Of course. In fact, there is a private bathroom right next to Julian’s bedroom.”
“Geralt of Rivia,” Jaskier purrs. “You know me so well.”
“Yes, and I expect to get to know you even better. In another hundred years or so.”
Jaskier laughs, pulls Geralt closer to him and kisses him.
“Another thousand years, I’d say.”
*
“What… the… fuck?!” Geralt croaks, staring at the smouldering remains of the cockatrice that would have surely killed him if Jaskier… If Jaskier…
The bard looks at his hands, then at the cockatrice, and then back at his hands again.
“Geralt? I have a feeling that I’m not really… A half-elf.”
“No shit.”
“I think I might be… Uhm…”
“Oh, shit,” Geralt whispers.
“I suppose, uhm, you know…” Jaskier stammers, wiping his palms on his trousers like he could wipe away the feeling of literal flames shooting out of them mere moments ago.
“Yeah. We’re gonna have to consult this with Yen.”
“Splendid,” Jaskier sighs. “Can it at least wait after the feast?”
“After more than a hundred years of you not even knowing, I think one feast will be fine.”
“Thank the gods. Madeleine would kill me if I tried to leave now,” Jaskier chuckles. “Let’s go, then. We need to get the fried monster remains out of your hair.”
“You’re… I was fucking right! You’re not a half-elf!”
“Yeah, you’re a great Witcher,” Jaskier nods, grabbing Geralt’s arm and dragging him away from the monster. “Didn’t notice I was secretly a fucking mage, but otherwise a great Witcher.”
“Explains a lot, though.”
“Does it now?”
“Yeah. I always had a thing for mages, you know.”
“Oh, Geralt. You’re such a fucking idiot,” Jaskier chuckles.
“Made you laugh,” Geralt shrugs, smiling.
Jaskier shakes his head.
“I’m so, so gonna drown you in that bathtub.”
“My love,” Geralt grins, “you’re more than welcome to try.”

Sifu Hotman
zuko x water tribe sibling!reader
request - I want to request a Zuko x fem reader being Sokka and Katara's sister. She can be the older sister or sokka's twin sister. Also when they start dating Sokka and Katara can like threaten him by saying don't hurt my sister or else.
A/N - This is taking place after the war, I'm vaguely uncomfy writing for underage people (or like younger than 17) so I just went ahead and aged them up. I'm sorry if that's not what you were wanting! I'm also sort of ignoring the plot of the comics and stuff and we are ignoring Mai's existence. I don't feel like this was my best writing by any means but i tried and i thought it was a cute idea. There will probably be more zuko x reader coming soon
word count - 2000
MASTERLIST
You took a deep breath in, the warm air refreshing after having just spent the last month in the southern water tribe with your family besides Katara who was off saving lives with Aang. Your twin brother stood beside you, his hair grown out and tied into a ponytail. Your sister would be here in the fire nation in a week with Aang. It had been three years since the war, you had just been kids at the time. You and Sokka were 15 during the last battle and you had felt so old then. Now, looking back, you had been immature and childish but you had grown up. After the war ended you remained in the fire nation for a few months. You had wanted to get a little bit of quiet before you started going on more adventures with your brother.
You had been very close with Zuko while he was traveling with you and the gang. You didn't know why but you trusted him, maybe it was because you trusted Toph's judgement but either way you had accepted him quicker than the others. You remembered how cold the rest of the group had been to him and it almost was funny to you now considering that Katara had just told you a story in a recent letter about Toph, Aang, and Zuko getting into a bickering match about fire flakes that ended in Toph trapping both of the boys into a earth tent. It was also hard to comprehend that Zuko was the new Firelord and he ruled over a whole nation.
It had been 2 years since you saw Zuko in person. It wasn't on purpose but you kept getting pulled in different directions, none of them leading you into the fire nation. You were excited but also scared to see him, butterflies filling your stomach at the thought of seeing him. You'd had a bit of a crush on the new Firelord when you last saw him but you refused to tell either of your siblings, knowing that they would threaten him to high heaven before he even knew about it.
Your brother walking beside you calmed you a bit, his presence being comforting to you. He was much taller than you now and he was more confident than the kid he had been during the war. You knew that the same was true for Aang, though he never grew up in personality. As you approached the gates of the palace you wondered if Zuko had changed.
You realized that he had as the gates opened and he was stood on the steps up to the palace waiting for both of you. His hair was long and it was pulled into a messy bun. His scar was no longer shrouded in his bangs and he seemed more confident in his stance. His robes were long and elegant and you wondered if he wore them by choice of if they were required because of his position. Your brother jogged slightly to get to Zuko faster, having grown to hold a strong bond with the man. You walked calmly but there was a smile on your face as your brother and Zuko embraced. Once the released each other Zuko turned to you. You noticed him gulp a bit and a blush threatened to cover your cheeks. Your grin became wider the closer you got to him and soon you were wrapped in his embrace.
You noticed that his frame was larger. You leaned your head back from the hug to look at his face and he looked well. Like he was happy and maybe even getting enough sleep.
"Hey there, Sifu Hotman." You smiled and Zuko rolled his eyes as he released you from the hug.
"I see we haven't matured in 2 years?" He grunts but you can see the smile trying to creep onto his face. "Toph still calls me that too." He grumbled lowly and you started laughing.
"Where is the little demon?"
"She's away dealing with some prisoners for me. She should be back in a week or so." Zuko smiled. "She's taken up a pretty important role here. She's like my personal lie detector. She likes to sit in on council meetings and scare everyone."
"I think that's actually her dream job." You smiled and Zuko hummed in agreement. There was a bit of a silence as you and Zuko just gazed at each other. He seemed so sure now. You had missed him dearly.
"Okay! Let's get this show on the road, people!" Sokka yelled and you internally groaned that he had to ruin the moment. Before you all turned toward the palace, Zuko sent you a wink and you felt a blush cover your face. As you headed up the steps of the palace you felt a comforting hand on your lower back as the Fire Lord gently followed behind you, Sokka running ahead of you, likely to find the food in the kitchens that he was accostomed to spending all of his time in.
"Can I speak to you in private when we get a moment?" Zuko asks and again your heart rate picks up. You turn your head to look at him.
"Of course" You smiled and he smiles back at you, making your head spin a bit. You spent the next few hours meeting new advisors, getting a tour through new parts of the palace, and catching up with Zuko who seemed to be acting more clingy than you had ever remembered him to be.
"Y/N, would you mind coming with me?" Zuko asked and you turned to face him with a smile.
"Of course!" You chirped as he led you to a secluded hallway away from your brother who was discussing war strategy with an advisor of Zuko's.
When you reached a place where you were out of earshot of others Zuko gently took your hands.
"I have something to confess." He stated and you felt fire on your cheeks, you nodded for him to continue, "I'm in love with you. I have been for years and I've never acted on it because there was always something going on and I was so unsure but now-" he gazed into your eyes with sincerity, "I couldn't be more sure. I want to be with you. If you'd have me, that is." Instead of answering you jumped forward, pressing your lips onto Zuko's in a searing kiss. He groaned and pushed back, trapping you against a wall. He pulled away to press his forehead into yours and you closed your eyes for a moment before opening them again and gazing at the man in front of you.
"Katara is gonna kill you." You mumbled and Zuko smiled.
"You aren't worried about Sokka?"
"I just know that Sokka can't win in a fight against you. Katara on the other hand..." you trailed off and Zuko looked offended.
"That's pretty rude to say to the man who just confessed his love for you."
"I'm just being honest. Toph might have some words too."
Zuko shuddered at the thought of what they could do to him. Sokka would be upset but he could probably handle it. Aang would be happy for both of them he was sure, always the peacemaker and moderator. Aang would probably be the only reason that Katara wouldn't attack Zuko immediately.
Over the next week you snuck around with Zuko, taking alone time any chance that you got. Sokka rarely let you get any peace as he stayed with you nearly constantly. He was always a little on the defence with you and he would likely settle in and ease up over the coming weeks as he got used to the new environment. You were never a huge fighter, though you could hold your own. You also couldn't bend. You were the one of the group who took care of everyone, you were the smartest in strategy by far, and you were the only one who could reason with Toph. Because of this, Sokka had gotten used to just being near you in case anything happened, though it was rare that anything did. You appreciated it normally but now you wanted time alone so that you could spend it with Zuko as you got used to being in a relationship that was more than platonic. But today was the day that the rest of the gang was arriving, even Suki would be joining you so you hoped that would take some of the clingy-ness of Sokka away. You all stood at the front of the palace, much like Zuko had stood for you a week earlier, and watched as Appa approached in the distance. He flew gently in front of you and as soon as he landed in front of you he licked you with his giant tongue and you were covered in slobber. Despite this you couldn't be happier to see the giant animal and you embraced him. You were suddenly pulled away and brought into the arms of your little sister.
"I missed you, Y/N." She mumbled into your neck and you smiled into hers, it had been so long since you had seen her and you felt tears come to your eyes at the relief of having her near.
You spent the next hours catching up with Katara and Aang, who had grown to be taller than you since you last saw him. Toph and Suki arrived that night and you were all glad to be together again at last, old memories coming back and filling you all with joy. You and Zuko looked at each other and you took a deep breath. You had discussed that you would be revealing your relationship to the rest of the group when you were all together but you were nervous for their reactions.
"So... I have something I would like to tell you guys." You stated and all of the conversation died down, all eyes suddenly on you. "Me and Zuko are together." You rushed out and you only got blank stares for a moment before there was groaning from Toph and Sokka.
"You couldn't have waited another year? I didn't think you would have figured it out by now." Toph grumbled and pulled some coins out of her pocket, Sokka doing the same. Suki and Katara held out their hands and money got dropped into them, both with smug looks on their faces. Zuko looked over at you and had the same look of shock that you likely did.
"What?" You mumbled.
"We all knew you were going to get together of course, you've been pining after each other for years, but me and Suki said you would be getting together this month and Toph said in a year. Sokka actually said in 3 months so he was closer than Toph was." Katara stated simply and you still just stared at her, mouth agape. "We also talked about the fact that if he hurts you," Her gaze shifted to a nervous looking Zuko, "we would all be committing some crimes."
"I feel like I should clarify that those crimes include maiming and murder." Sokka glared at Zuko and he gulped.
"But I'm so happy for you two!" Katara exclaimed, her attitude shifting completely. You and Zuko stared at each other in shock and then you smiled at him. You were so happy to finally be together and to have your friends around you.

Captain’s girlfriend being the Mom of the survey corps
You are Levi’s girlfriend, and you LOVE taking care of these kids.
  - Background story
As a kid, you grew up next to Levi and his mother’s door. Your mothers knew each other since they used to work together. You and Levi very soon became inseparable. You would always play together during daytime; you would sleep together too because neither of you wanted to leave each other. You mother died when you were four, and very soon after that a farmer came and took you in. You tried to resist because you wanted to stay with Levi but the military police intervened. You didn’t even get to say goodbye to Levi and you were gone. Levi did not understand why from one day to another, you just disappeared. He asked his mom where you were, but she had no idea too.
”Is it because she doesn’t love me anymore?” Levi wondered.
”I’m sure she loves you, don’t worry about that my angel.” Kuchel reassured him while hugging him.
On your side, the farmer told you that he was your father. Your mother had succeeded, somehow, to send him a letter telling him how she knew she was sick. As a dying wish, she asked him to come and take care of you.
”I want to go back! I have a friend there and I didn’t get to say goodbye.”
”I’m sorry but the Underground is dangerous. You’re much safer here in wall Sina.”
Since then, you lived with your father helping him with the farms. Your father’s farm helped feeding the three military branches, so it was important to work hard. At the age of eighteen, it was time for you to choose a career. Younger, you thought about joining the training corps, but you father was against it, so you continued studying and finally began training as a nurse. You worked with Doctor Yeager a lot and once your trainings were completed, you decided to join the survey corps as nurse to help. You were twenty-one when that happened.
Your first friend was Hange. They would come into the infirmary very often due to their experiments. It was the only friendship you made since you arrived - you didn’t know how to make friends but Hange was very sociable, so they introduced you to Erwin and Mike. One day, you were eating with Hange in your office and you were talking about the latest news.
”Erwin just brought in three recruits!”
”Is that even allowed?” you asked surprised.
”Apparently. They were all against it because they’re from the underground. But I’ve seen them in action, and they are amazing. Even more because they had no training. You have to see them in action, because one of them, Levi, is truly a titan slayer god.” Hange blabbered.
”Levi?” you wondered, could it be your Levi? It has been a very long time, but he was only friend when you were a kid. Was he still alive? If so, did he change? Surprisingly, you still looked a lot like when you were a kid (according to your father).
”Yeah that’s his name, and his friends are here too — Isabel and Furlan. They are probably training right now if you want to meet them.”
”Why not!”
You finished your meal and went to the training grounds.
”FLAGON! Hi!” Hange screamed.
”Hange and my favourite nurse!” Flagon smiled, ”If you are here to meet my new members, they are killing titans.”
”Y/N come, let’s find them!”
Hange took your arm and run through the trees and once you spotted them, you stopped. They were good. One of them turned their head to where you and Hange were and for a second, you two made eye contact. He froze for a second but quickly continued to kill fake titans.
”Are you okay?” Hange asked you worried. ”You look like you’ve seen a titan.”
”No, I’m good but I have to go, I just remembered how I had some paperwork to do. Hm I’ll see you later!” you explained before running away.
Once the three of them were done training, they met Hange and Flagon again.
”Who was that girl?” Levi asked abruptly.
”Why do you care?” Flagon answered.
”Just tell me.” Levi urged clenching his teeth.
”That was our nurse.” Hange responded to avoid more conflict between the two of them.
”I want her name!” Levi growled exasperated.
”It’s Y/N, why?”
Levi didn’t answer Hange and just left rapidly. Isabel and Furlan were just as confused as the two squad leaders. You lock yourself in your office, panting a little because you ran to there. Levi knew where the infirmary was so he just knocks on your office’s door. He tried to open the door when you did not answer but it was locked.
”You’re a nurse, you can’t ignore your patients!” Levi yelled. ”Open the door now! Y/N!”
You unlocked the door and opened it slowly. You were scared to look at him so you’re eyes were fixed on his shoes. He gently pushed you inside so you would both have privacy. After a minute or two of silence, Levi suddenly took you in his arms.
”I thought that you were dead,” Levi mumbled, ”when you didn’t came that day, I thought that I’d never see you again.”
”I’m sorry,” you said hugging him back, ”a man came in when my mom died and he said that he was my father and since then, he took care of me. What about you? What are doing here? How’s your mom?” you asked softly.
”Erwin took us in,” Levi revealed briefly, ”and my mom died a few days after you were gone.”
”Oh... I’m so sorry about that.” you said looking at him.
”I’m glad you’re here.”
Since that day, you two spent all your free time together. Very soon enough, you met Levi’s friends. You loved spending time with them, and everything was fine. Until that expedition, where both Furlan and Isabel died. You tried your best to be there for Levi but it was difficult between all the amount of work you had to do after each expedition. So, at night, you would sneak into his room that he used to share with Furlan, but now it was just him. Levi was on his bed, curled up on himself. You would just lay beside him, with your arms around him. You were sleeping together just like you used to when you were kids. Since that day, Levi never let you go back to your old bed.
  - First meeting with the 104th cadets
As head of the medical team, you volunteered to do rounds at the training headquarters because some of the kids were incredibly clumsy. It was the first week of training and you would constantly be visited by Eren. That kid was way too into trainings and wouldn’t mind hurting himself.
”Eren you should really calm down a little bit on the trainings.”
”No! I have to become a survey corps soldier so I can defeat ALL THE TITANS!” Eren screamed determined. Mikasa behind who just grab Eren and forced him to sit on his chair so you could stitch him up.
  —————
The next kid that you would often see was Armin. He was constantly cold during winter and you would order him to rest instead of training. He would have to stay with you because otherwise, he would continue training because he was determined to pass his evaluations.
”If I rest too long, I’ll forget everything!” Armin tried to explain.
”I don’t want you to get hurt if you work out while being sick like this. You would have to wear so many layers of clothes that you couldn’t even put your ODM gear on.”
Once, you had to come urgently because Armin got extremely sick during winter. And he requested to have you here because apparently, sick Armin is really picky. You couldn’t refuse of course. You took the medicine you had for a cold and some extra blankets because you knew there was not any at the training corps and left. Armin was curled up on himself with his winter coat as well as Mikasa’s on top him.
”Armin, hey, I’m here.” you woke him up gently by sitting next to him.
”My head...” Armin whimpered.
”I know, I asked another nurse to boil some water and. It’s going to get better,” you reassured him, ”here’s some extra blankets I took for you.” you showed him the two blankets and put them on him and took off the coats.
After a few days of intense care from you, Armin started to feel better already. But never enough for him to go back training and once you heard him talking with Eren and Mikasa.
”If I’m better now she’s going to leave and that means no more bedtime stories or anything!”
That night you told him that you had to leave because the survey corps had an expedition, he next morning.
”But you’re not a survey corps soldier.” Armin said confused.
”But I am the nurse assigned for the expeditions.”
”What? But isn’t that too dangerous?”
”I had a lot of training believe me, and I have been doing that for five years now so I think I’m good. But thank you for worrying about me.” you laughed softly. ”I’ll be back in a few weeks alright?”
Armin only nodded and fell back to sleep.
  —————
Reiner would constantly come for minor injuries or fake ones just because he liked hanging out in the infirmary. Reiner was too adorable for you to send him away. Bertolt would very often be with Reiner, and he would too often apologise for Reiner behaviour.
”I know you must be very busy, We shouldn’t bother you any longer.” Bertolt would blabber.
”Not at all! You kids are too adorable and nice for me to throw you outside.” you reassured them which would always lead to you giving them a hug after. You would remember the first time you hugged Reiner, he back up so brutally that it just confused you.
”What’s wrong? Are you hurt somewhere?” you asked worried.
”No! I-I was just... surprised.”
”Well get used to that then.” you joked before hugging him again.
  —————
You remember once Jean broke his arm so he couldn’t eat by himself and you had to feed him his soup and bread. Jean was sitting with his friend, but he couldn’t go and grab his food and earlier you had told him to wait for you. Five minutes after, you appeared next to him with his soup and bread and fruit.
”Thanks Y/N but I think I can eat by myself.” Jean said with a grin. You didn’t leave and instead just watched him struggle with his left arm. He would spill half of his spoon on the table but he didn’t ask for help. You took the spoon out of his hand and took a spoonful of soup and blow on it so it wouldn’t be too hot. You put your hand under the spoon and expected Jean to eat the food without protest but that didn’t happen.
”Jean, just eat the food.”
”No! I-”
”Open your mouth before I make you.” you ordered with a firm voice.
Everyone was surprised by your tone since you were always so calm and patient. Jean stopped protestant and ate his food. Once you were done you cleaned his plates and went back to your office without another word. Just before you were ready to go back to the survey corps headquarters, your door opened on Jean.
”Shouldn’t you be sleeping at this hour?” you asked softly.
”I...” he hesitated while blushing a little, ”I’m sorry about earlier. You just — you were just helping me, and I was... a jerk...”
”Jean, it’s fine.”
”You promise?”
”I promise, don’t worry. Now go back to bed, I have to leave soon.”
”When are you coming back?”
”Very soon, so until then, ask Marco to help you eat.”
    - The night of the ceremony
Erwin was delivering his prepared speech, that he had practiced on you and Levi a least a thousand times. You would listen to him attentively in front of the crow. And in the end, only a bunch of them stayed. You would of course see Eren, Armin and Mikasa together. You greeted them and everyone else. You saw Jean sitting alone — you were surprised to see him here since you thought that he would join the MP. Your approached him and sat next to him.
”Are you okay? Where’s Marco?” you wondered.
”Marco’s dead.”
You didn’t say anything and just took Jean in your arms. He rested his head on you shoulder and cried a little.
    - Jean can sleep after Marco’s death
You were in Levi’s office, doing paperwork with him as usual.
”You love these kids too much.” Levi stated.
”What? I like them a little.”
”Oh please. You spent all your free during these last three years with them.”
”It’s my job to take care of them.” you laughed.
”They weren’t even that badly injured.”
”Aw, were you jealous? You just have to tell me and I’m all yours.” you teased him.
”You already are.” Levi expressed with a smirk.
”Oh, I’m out of tea, I’ll be right back.” you warned Levi before leaving, but not before a kiss to your boyfriend.
You walked to the kitchen with your two cups and boiled some water. You poured some water in your cups and left the kitchen which leads to the mess hall. A small figure was sitting alone at the back. You walked closer to that person and quickly noticed Jean.
”Can’t sleep?” you asked softly.
”Every time I close my eyes, I keep seeing Marco’s half body just lying there... alone.”
”I know it’s hard, especially because you just spent three entire years with him.” you sat next to him, ”but you need to rest. You are part of the survey corps now and it’s a lot of work.”
”I can’t fall asleep...”
”Go back to bed and I’ll be there, I just have to take these,” you showed the cups of tea, ”to someone and I’ll be there okay?”
He nodded and left. You ran to Levi’s office and told him what happened.
”You love these kids too much.” Levi repeated.
”I’m sorry, it’s just...”
”Y/N, it’s fine,’ Levi reassured you smiling, ”plus, I know how that Jean boy is your favourite so just go but come back to bed with me!” Levi screamed as you ran out of his office as soon as he said it was fine.
Once in front of Jean’s bedroom that he shared with Connie, you opened the door gently. Connie was sleeping on the top of the bunk bed. Jean was sitting on his bed waiting for you. You sat next to him and took off your shoes.
”I once managed to get a guy who would only sleeps three hours top every night to have a better schedule of sleep. So, I think I can get you to sleep.” you told Jean.
Jean had his head on your lap, and you sat against the wall. You started to tell one of the stories your dad used to tell you when you couldn’t sleep. While doing that, you would of course play with his hair because according to Levi ”that sh!t’s amazing to help me sleep so do it”. Soon after Jean fall asleep. You wanted to leave but he had his arms around you too tight. After an hour of waiting, Levi opened the door with a confused expression.
”What are you still doing here?” Levi asked quietly.
”Jean isn’t letting me go.” you showed his arms around you.
”I’m going to kill that boy tomorrow when training!” Levi yelled softly.
Levi then helped you get out of Jean’s arms. You kissed his forehead before leaving him sleep.
”I’m never going to say this enough but you love these kids too much.”
”I do.” you confessed.
”You shouldn’t.”
”I know, they are strange-”
”No. I’m saying this because if they end up dying in the next few expeditions, you’ll never get over it. And I don’t like seeing you all sad.” he explained.
”I knoow, but I can’t help it if they are all so adorable!”

The Last Chthonian
Bucky x Reader, Sam x Reader, Zemo x Reader
Part 1
Author’s Note: Had this idea living in my head rent free so hopefully I don’t butcher it.
Summary: Imagine being Hekate, the Greek goddess of magic and witchcraft, the night and the moon, doorways and crossroads, creatures of the night, and ghosts and necromancy. You stumbled upon Earth many centuries ago and since then have resided on the foreign planet. During the recent years you created an alias for yourself to hide your true identity, and after the war against Thanos you chose to live out your days in the Scottish countryside, until a certain trio appear at your doorstep one day.

“So, where are we going again?” Bucky asked Sam, confusion written on his face as he leaned back in the front passenger seat of the car.
“You’ll find out. We’ll be there soon.” Sam answered, his eyes glued to the road and hands gripping the wheel.
“But we’ve been driving in the middle of nowhere for an hour now.” Bucky fussed while staring at the never ending green grass that passed by, clearly irritated with Sam’s lack of details.
“I too would like to know where we are going.” Zemo spoke up only to add to Sam’s annoyance.
“YOU don’t get to ask questions.” Sam glared at Zemo through the rear view mirror before staring back at the road. He was starting to get fed up with their questions and lack of patience.
The three men had been driving with their windows down for what felt like hours through the Scottish countryside, watching the green highlands pass by. Though they admired the beauty of the landscape, they were extremely anxious to stretch their legs and get to their unknown destination. Not to mention, they were starting to get a little hungry as well.
“Are we there yet?” Bucky broke the silence after some time.
“We get there when we get there.” Sam snapped, his knuckles turning white from gripping the wheel a bit too hard. He was really looking forward to getting out of the car and away from those two.
After a short while they neared a small seaside village. The place was not that busy, save for the few locals and fishermen going about the cloudy day.
Sam drove on a little further before finally reaching a quaint stone cottage that sat on a hill at the edge of town, overlooking the ocean. He pulled up next to the 60s convertible cream colored Volkswagen Beetle that had a surfboard tied on the roof, parked next to the cottage. Sam took the keys out of the ignition and stepped out, stretching his legs as the others followed suit.
Sam smiled to himself as he walked up the path leading to the front door and glanced upon the flower garden and the decorations out front. He knew for sure this was your place. The other two quietly followed behind while looking around the residence, from the neatly kept garden and the vines that crawled along the house, to the fishing equipment hung up on the side, down to the handmade birdhouses and the wind chimes and sun-catchers that clinked melodically against the ocean breeze, including the collection of garden gnomes. The place reminded the men something straight out of Jane Austen’s novels, not that they’d like to admit they knew such a thing.
Sam stopped at the front door before turning to the others with a pointed finger. “Now whatever you do, don’t stare.”
“Wait what?” Bucky scrunched his nose.
“Just don’t.”
Sam paused for a moment, thinking of how to explain this situation to you before tapping on the wooden door. No answer. Sam could feel Bucky glaring at the back of his head, ready to scold him about how this was a big waste of time. So he knocked again, this time calling out if any one was home.
Before Bucky could open his mouth there was rustling coming from inside and the sound of someone knocking into furniture before a faint “ow” and “fuck” of a woman’s voice made Bucky and Zemo glance questioningly at each other. Where the hell did Sam lead them to?
The locks on the door were fumbled with before opening up to reveal your head poking out from behind.
“Sam?” You breathed out. You were slightly out of breath and your hair was disheveled with strands falling out of your bun at the front from under your silk scarf. The sleeves of your button up blouse were rolled up at your elbows, revealing your dirt covered arms. You were working on your vegetable garden in the back before you were interrupted by your unexpected visitors.
Bucky stood behind Sam and couldn’t help but widen his eyes when he saw you. He only met you a few times during the threat of Thanos and before, but the interactions he had with you were very brief. All he knew was that you were a good friend of the Avengers, especially Thor, Clint, Nat, Wanda, Tony and Steve and now apparently Sam. But after Thanos was defeated you disappeared and nothing was heard of you since.
Zemo glanced out from behind Bucky and tried to remain hidden behind the super soldier once he recognized your face. You weren’t exactly an Avenger and you weren’t on Earth when he tore the Avengers apart, you were helping Thor at the time and little to everyone’s knowledge, you were also defending your planet against an inside threat. But you had heard of him through your friends, and though you hadn’t met him, Zemo knew you would strangle him once you spotted him.
“Hey y/n.” Sam smiled at you, calling you by your alias name. He knew who you were through Steve, but even then, he didn’t know everything about you and about the recent events that took place in your home planet that still devastated you.
“What the hell are you doing here?” You asked with a mixture of surprise and annoyance, wiping your hands on your apron. There was a reason you chose to live all the way out here, and though you gave Sam your new address, you didn’t expect him to bring company.
“I came to see how you were doing?”
“Bullshit.” You scowled, crossing your arms over your chest. “If you wanted to check up on me you wouldn’t have brought someone.”
Sam opened his mouth to speak but decided against it, refused to meet your stern eyes and looking down at the ground instead with his hands in his pockets. He often forgot how well you were able to read people, almost as if you were telepathic. Little to his knowing, you were in fact a telepath but decided against telling him. You’ve known people who became uncomfortable when finding that detail about you and noticed how they tried to avoid you, constantly guarding their thoughts when around. If only they knew you never bothered to do such a thing because you respected their privacy and because you’ve seen things in people’s heads you wished to forget. You’ve only ever used your telepathy when it was absolutely necessary. Straightening up, you finally took a better look at the other man behind him and instantly recognized him as Bucky.
“Barnes?”
“Hi y/n.” Bucky smiled shyly at you as he looked into your eyes. And that’s when he noticed for the first time that your eyes were different from when he last saw you. Your irises were now a shade of purples and blues with flecks of gold that spread out, a reflection of the stars and the universe. So that’s what Sam meant when he said to not stare. But could you have just been wearing contacts? Bucky’s stare was cut short as Sam noticed, glaring at him and clearing his throat before elbowing him in the stomach.
Suddenly, there came the sound of a little girls squeals coming from inside your home, startling the men except for Sam. And before they knew it, a small girl in overalls who looked to be of 6 years of age sprinted through your legs and out the door. “Uncle Sam!”
“Oof! Athena wait!” You gasped against the impact as you tried to reach for her.
“Hey hey little Athena!” Sam smiled as he picked the excited girl up into his arms before setting her on his hip. “How’s my favorite little warrior?”
“I’m helping Mommy with the garden! See!” She squealed in delight before showing off her dirty hands.
“I can see that.” Sam chuckled. “Looks like you’ve been working hard.”
“God, I’m so sorry Sam. She’s covered in dirt.” You tried to apologize with an embarrassed face.
“Hey no worries.” Sam smiled at you. “Some dirt is not gonna kill me.”
“Mommy who’s this?” Athena questioned as she looked at the man next to Sam.
You looked at Bucky and gave him a look that questioned what name he would prefer, to which he nodded and mouthed Bucky to you.
“That’s Bucky sweetie.”
“Hi Bucky! I’m Athena!” She stuck her tiny hand out to for him to shake, a big grin plastered on her face from meeting new people.
“It’s very nice to meet you Athena.” Bucky smiled as he gently shook her hand, making her giggle.
The scene made you smile to yourself as you pushed a strand of your hair behind your ears. Maybe it wasn’t so bad that Sam and Bucky decided to pay a visit.
“Mommy who’s the man in the back?”
The man in the back? You looked to Sam and James with a raised brow before craning your neck to see who the third guest could be, only to tense up and clutch the door frame, forcing yourself to not go over there right now and throw him off a cliff.
“What the hell is he doing here?” You glared daggers at Zemo as he watched you with caution, before you turned to Sam.
“I can explain.” Sam tightened his jaw as he saw your expression.
“Athena, sweetie.” You turned to your daughter with a gentle smile. “I want you to go up to your room and clean up okay?”
“Okay mommy.” Athena looked back at you with a worried look as Sam set her down.
You caressed her head as she walked in, watching her go up the stairs and waiting for the sound of her bedroom door to close and her shower to turn on before shutting the front door behind you.
“Are you out of your goddamn minds?” You glared at the two, trying to not yell, your fists balling up in anger. “What in the three hells is going on?”
“Look y/n. He might be of some use.” Sam tried to explain.
“So you broke him out of prison?!”
“Well technically he got himself out.” Bucky rubbed the back of his neck. He was starting to think that this wasn’t such a good idea and felt guilty for coming here.
“Oh? So what? He magically decides to join your little boy band? The Wakandans are after his ass in case you haven’t noticed.”
“Look I get it. Working with Zemo sounds like a terrible idea and you have every right to be upset. We just need a place to lay low for now. Just...hear us out.” Sam responded with a pleading look.
You stood there with a hand on your hip, squeezing your eyes shut while you pinched the bridge of your nose, not even caring that you still had dirt on your hands.
“Please y/n.” Bucky spoke up, making you look up at him. “Sam wouldn’t come here if he didn’t know what he was doing.”
You looked between the two, rubbing your chin in contemplation as you thought everything over. Bucky was right. Sam would never try to purposely put you in harm’s way.
“Fine.” You breathed out. “You can stay for the night. But you are going to tell me everything. Every last detail.”
“I promise.” Sam looked to you as he placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder.
“Well come on then. Get in.” You nodded your head towards the door as you opened it, letting Bucky and Sam in before putting yourself in front of Zemo and blocking him with a threatening look while speaking in a cold tone. “I swear to the gods, if you so much as try anything, I will bury you alive in my backyard and use you as fertilizer to grow fungi.”
“Y/n what the fuck.” You heard Sam utter from inside.
Zemo gave you a bewildered look and decided to keep quiet as you stepped aside to let him in, watching him closely as he went in. You stuck your head outside again, looking around for any bystanders and making sure the men were preoccupied before muttering something in Ancient Greek, waving your hand around and moving your fingers in specific gestures as a clear glass like film covered the area around your home for protection. You did another once over before going back in and closing the front door, readying yourself for the conversation you would have with Sam and Bucky.
