Eurovision Fact #961:

Molly My Marianne Sandén, who represented Sweden at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006, was the singing voice of Rachel McAdams in the 2020 movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

In 2021, Sandén performed one of the film's songs, "Husavik," live at the Oscars from Húsavík, Iceland.

Eurovision Thought: A Where Are They Now Kind

I've talked a lot on this page about some artists and where they are now. It's fun, especially if they win, to see if they become global sensations and feel like we were there at the start (even if the artist was established in their home country). For Junior Eurovision, we get to see what eventually could be a future star, and also a future Eurovision star if the artist wishes.

Well, I might have accidentally found out how one Junior Eurovision star alum is doing. That artist was the United Kingdom's representative in 2022, Freya Skye.

In 2022, Freya Skye sang "Lose My Head" in Yerevan, taking home a 5th place and a televote win. In 2024, I saw her while I was watching Big Hero 6 on Disney Channel.

As it turns out, she will be in the movie Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires, and has a record deal with Hollywood Records, and is basically working as a Disney kid. With the busy schedule that comes with it, I doubt she'll go to Eurovision right now, but maybe in the future once she's an adult. But no matter what, she's got a bright future ahead.

I DO think it's funny that 15 year olds can't compete in either adult nor junior eurovision.

And it's the worst if your birthday is between the esc and jesc dates because you'd get locked out of both contests for 2 full years LOL

We Are the Children

A performance of "We Are the World" was seen on stage during Junior Eurovision 2023, advocating for a message of the singular word "Peace"

Mere weeks later, Israel's participation in Eurovision 2024 was announced.

Eurovision cannot use children to sing a message of "peace" without looking at those who cannot live in peace. Please consider watching this video and continuing to spread the message. We will not look away from the children and families suffering at the hands of the Israeli violence being funded by American dollars.

Poland has never won the Eurovision Song Contest, but it has won many of the spin-off competitions. In 2016, they won Eurovision Young Musicians and Eurovision Young Dancers. Poland also won Eurovision Young Dancers the following year. Finally, in 2018 and 2019, Poland won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

This video was so interesting for us early 00s nordic kids (minus Iceland), as I myself have memories of this. My sister was OBSESSED with Bæstevænna (fun fact, that singer later sang the norwegian intro for Violetta). I often have Oro Jaska Beana in my head. I also really really loved Skaffa en annan tjej, while it didn't win mpg nordic and came in second in the national competition, it was my favorite in lilla melodifestivalen that year, and is HIGHKEY the reason my favorite color is purple.

Sometimes I wish it could return, and/or if some of us return to Junior Eurovision, but the reason we had MGP nordic instead was because jesc didn't really fit us.

Also... I'm a little jealous Norway had a medley for their previous winners, I want Sweden to have a medley with lilla mello winners so BADLY.
